I low key love the scene in The Hobbit where Legolas calls Gimli a hideous creature because I like to imagine when he sees him in Fellowship he’s like
“Oh.”
“Oh no.”
“He’s 𝘩𝘰𝘵."

smth I noticed with ppl posting about bg3 is that every time I see a dwarf mc they're on purpose made to look stupid and jokey and are treated like the "ugly" character option
fucking cowards tbh. I made a dwarf mc and I think he's sexy and cool. he and his hot vampire boyfriend are serving cunt and taking over the world

Curufin: Why do you like Men so much?
Finrod: It's the beard.
Celegorm: Grandpa Mahtan has a beard too!
Finrod: I've always said he was the most handsome Elf of Aman.
Celegorm: If I grew one, would you find me hot?
Finrod: Yes.

[image description: a digital full-body drawing of a ttrpg OC, Brontide (he/him/they). Brontide is a slender air genasi man with pale grayish-white skin and short white hair that resembles a cloud crackling with lightning. Brontide is wearing pink lipstick and bright turquoise, high-waisted tight pants that transition seamlessly into high heels. He’s shirtless, revealing top surgery scars covered by neon blue-and-green lightning bolt tattoos. Bolts of lightning, originating from his back, wrap around his arms, towards his hands where he’s cupping a ball of blue-white lightning. Brontide is smiling at the viewer with a slightly upturned chin. The background is a cloudy sky that transitions in a gradient from light pink at the bottom to dark blue at the top. End ID.]
he’s the best show in town 🌩️

✨ Unpopular opinion ✨Most people hate the hobbit trilogy but I actually love it and think it’s better than the books

I was already talking about this on Twitter but I think it'd be really interesting if, when dwarves are taken to the surface for any reason, there would be some sort of ceremony for them not to go blind from the harsh sunlight. I would think that the surface dwarves in the ceremony give them some sort of veil to wear so that they can slowly adjust to the light and not hurt themselves in the process. Kinda like deet from the dark crystal!

with all the ""breeding"" oriented confessions and posts popping up on my dash [because that's apparently what you freaks (affectionate) are into], it doesn't escape my notice that out of literally ALL the character combos I've dreamed up in the past ten years, only like two are actually, physically capable of any form of reproduction, and there's only one (Harwen and Josephine) that I hc has, reproduced, once. They have one daughter, and that's it.
There's only one couple like that in this game, and that's a pair of idiots I honestly cannot picture ever actually wanting/having kids.
Going down the list and ruling out all the obvious plumbing issues (and vampirism) literally only leaves me with Petyr and Shadowheart, which..... my cringefail son should not be anyone's dad. That's the kind of emotional trauma that makes future DnD characters.
I mean, parents of the year right there: the reclusive woodsman who voluntarily exiled himself to the forest for being such a bitch, and the woman raised in an abusive cult with zero idea of what a parent-child relationship is even like. Oh, and their sometimes-boyfriend, the one sorta halfway mentally stable adult in the whole equation... whose entire presence in their life is that he just occasionally drops by for a threesome and breakfast, maybe a few days up to a tenday, and then dips out for another few months. (Yeah, here comes your Uncle Halsin, he's come to teach you about the forest and to fuck your dad while your mom watches. Just the thought has me snort-laughing.)
Dungeons and Dragons? Naaaah. It's Damage and Daddy Issues.

The tail orym mention made me remember how popular hooves jester was despite laura explicitly saying she didnt have them (in the first talks machina episode, iirc)... it makes me sad how many of these trends involve changing her characters' designs specifically 😭
Oh man I'd forgotten about that; I guess the good news is that it did die down after a while.
I'm always down to expound upon why I think the fandom is weird towards Laura's characters specifically, but re: Jester with hooves is that like, at least that's canonical tiefling lore, even if it wasn't true for Jester, and the official art didn't rule it out. I still didn't reblog art that had it, for the most part, but not everyone watches Talks, so I can at least get where it came from. I'd apparently missed that drawing halflings with tails in general was a thing, but that's not D&D lore; that's just someone's bad idea that's inexplicably gained steam. [also: I'll happily toss the majority of Tolkien's lore about races, certainly the ones he treated as evil, but the guy invented halflings and he had a fantastic vision for them, and giving them a tail actively, in my opinion, detracts from that.]
I think what you hit on that adds to why I don't like it is the word trends. Because it is trends: it's not "what if Imogen had glasses" or "what if Orym had a tail", it's always the same exact big round glasses and the same exact leonine tail. I mean, I don't like "Imogen wears glasses" and "Orym has a tail" as headcanons in the first place but you can't even argue it's a case of unique artistic vision; it's just...trends.

My WIP list is endless (and unfortunately my priorities are in order) but I really wanna draw the *round short girl gets isekai'd with her same body into a high fantasy world and she's a radiant goddess amongst the various peoples* story that got floated around here a while back. 🥰🥰🥰
