Last book you hated reading: honestly i haven't read that much but probably as a kid there was this book about this mom who wanted to get skinnier and her son telling her she doesnt need to So she goes on a diet and he does too but she keeps telling him no. So in the end she stops or something. 😔😔 now that i think about it theres a 40% chance this was a dream.

favourite thing to cook/bake: ooo so i make these cupcakes. and i love to decorate them My most recent batch is cow themed so i made little icing cows on top of them and some have green chocolate filling and stuff. (Sort of like a lava cake but green)

last book you enjoyed reading: heartless by merrisa meyers i guess most people told me this is a kids book but i honestly dont really care at this point. Its such a good book (if you ever end up reading it i love you)

favourite craft to do in your free time: i dont have a favorite since i do alot but i like making gifs on photopea (even if i don't post them for the sole reason that tumblr ruins the quality)

most niche dislike: I feel like i dislike a lot of things but loud chewing. Like i cant stand ut if im sitting next to someone and they are hunched over and munching like theres no tomorrow. Especially if they are eating right behind me in a restaurant or the metro.

opinion on circus(es): Honestly as a kid they scared the fuck out of me but they are alright right now. I mean i personally wouldn't go alone but wirh friends and tumblr mutuals it would be nice.

do you have a sense of direction: i hope so but honestly not really. I love acting but my stage freight and anxiety keeps getting worse so if i wanna act again i gotta work on that.

My favorite pages of a Transformers Prime Halloween fanfiction I wrote in 5th grade. In this story, the Autobots and Decepticons call a truce. Well, the kids call up Megatron and organize this and then Optimus catches them but then also agrees jdsjdjsdjdshsdh I know this makes Zero Sense but yknow what that’s,,,,how my brain worked back then. Made no sense. Still doesnt make sense actually--

Um and sorry for mistakes and potentially immature perceptions of the characters...remember I wrote this literally almost 5-6 years ago,,,, O//O’’

(I’ll just do some explaining since I only picked parts of this story. Also sorry for the terrible picture quality :’D)

3.) fjdfjdfj idk why but I really like this part of the chapter in general,,,maybe it’s just me lmfao but uh....well.....good job, younger me lolol you’ve made older me genuinely laugh 😹😹😹😅��

I do have one question for myself: wHY did I choose a MONKEY COSTUME?? FOR STARSCREAM???! *cries laughing* that is so random I can’t even rn--

4.) This one single part. It comes earlier in the story ofc, and again idk why but I just,,,this part is decent. And I kinda like it lmfao

After this, I remember reading something about Megatron visiting “blogs” and reading about Halloween and costumes and all that. Which I’m 99.9% certain was some sort of reference to Tumblr. So. Make of this what you will, I suppose owo

5.) The description of Op’s costume! He went as a cat and I distinctly remember making him dress up as a cat because cats have always been my favorite animal so my logic was: favorite character + favorite animal = pERFECT!! <D Anyway, uhhh.....sometime I wanna draw this :3 it’s a cute costume idea actually....so congrats again to younger me for doing something right...sorta..^^’’

(if you wanna know the end of that sentance, it just says smth like how neither of them had made a costume like this so even if it wasn’t all that perfect, it was a really good effort for a first try <3)

6.) Very much like the way I opened this chapter too,,,,lol why am I even trying to explain my thoughts my brain just,,,I Like This Bit Too,,,,I hope y’all like it as well,,,,idk--

7.) wHAT was this ending asdfjkldjsdkjsdj

all I can say is that the Starscream adding that he will crush them later is the Best Thing and I’m still laughing about it,,,kudos to younger me yet again ^^’’

8.) SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST! I really liked this part??? For many reasons. I remember it was my favorite part to write :3 Of course, my stupid immature humor had to ruin it with the “thug life” joke because that was another thing I found extrememly hilarious back then sooo.....oh and I apologize for the way Megatron abruptly destroys the mood....I was tryna be deep I think?? BUt...idk...that moment just throws the vibe off too abruptly....idk....y’all lmk what you think I guess...? But anyway, my favorite part of the whole thing >:33

LIKE I WANT OPTIMUS TO DO THIS SOMEDAY. IT’S CUTE. LIKE,,,,SUE ME BUT IT’S FUNNY,, 😹😹😹😹

(also what I meant by “a shade of crimson darker than Jack” is: a few pages back, a fake spider scared the living daylights out of jack and he landed flat on his back after screaming so loudly that literally everyone burst into laughter for a good few mintues. And Jack had blushed like super hard. That’s. Idk why I didn’t specify that in the writing sdsjsdj anwyay--)

Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts

Im gonna do a more in-dept and spoiler-y post later but for this one im just gonna gush about this show without spoilers lol

Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeast was an AMAZING ride! It wasn’t perfect but it got pretty damn close!

Pros:

amazing plot and story progression

Characters were great and fleshed out

the world building was fleshed out enough to keep attention (i hope that a side book/explanation comes out tho bc i want to nerd out with that lol!)

the music was SO FUCKING AMAZING OMG best soundtrack ever. Very close to Spiderman into the spider-verse but this show did it is better (not knocking Spiderman ITSV but there were some misses with it’s choices of music but again that’s just my opinion)

animation and art is so cool and different! Very nice to look at. Reminded me of that old Jumanji the series (back in the 90s-early 2000s lol) but much prettier. I compare it bc it’s so stylistic and eye catching but yea Kipo did a better job.

Cons:

most or all of these “Cons” are 100% my own opinions bc the show was pretty amazing. Like at this point im nitpicking lol

Kipo, Dave, and Benson were sometimes annoying but nothing too extreme and it did not ruin the show but i found myself kinda going “oh man cmon move on already) but that was very few times

Some of the plots to some episodes were meh but again, it didnt need to be 100% all the time but i just noticed that

It felt kinda rushed but not in a bad way just kinda noticeable. You can tell that they wanted to do 10 episodes then tease a second season. And AGAIN not terrible bc i liked the face pace of it but if it was smoother transition that would have been great. Now with the tease for second season im sure they will ease into the story)

There were like 1 point (i wont spoil it here) that i was confused but honestly it was on like the one filler episode in the series of 10 episodes so im pretty sure that was why. It was at the end of that episode that was important i get that but the first half of it i was like “huh?”

yea thinking about the cons it’s really just my own nitpicking but

honestly in my own ranking I’m giving Kipo a 9/10 it was an amazing show that I hope gets acknowledged outside tumblr

I was watching a youtuber recently on animation and they said something along the lines of “since media like on the big screen (like Disney etc) has been kinda failing on the animation market, ppl have been going to other places for their animation (like Netflix etc) and the quality is really there for those smaller productions” and i agree. I havent watched shows like Hilda or Klaus yet but it’s on my list but even i know that they have been filling the gaps that Disney and other animation studios had left (lets be honest they have been failing pretty hard for a while :/ i mean other than Spiderverse and all that but like im just saying)

And not meaning to snub other shows where a girl is in a different world plot that has been happening (ive seen a little of Amphibia and watched the first Owl House) and while Amphibia has only one season and Owl House just came out, I felt that Kipo just captured that different world lore that both kinda failed to do. That isn’t saying that both series failed completely (Amphibia has a very cool premise but it didnt keep my interest long and Owl House JUST came out so it hasnt gotten the chance to wow me) and considering that Kipo isnt a different world - it’s our world 200 years after some society downfall with Kipo being a “burrow or mole person that never been on the surface - it is kinda different. But that doesnt chance the fact that Kipo hooked me the very first episode so im just saying lol Same with twelve forever. That actually hooked me first few episodes but it’s not even comparable to Kipo or Amphibia or OH so yea)

Anyways, I have hopes that Kipo will get a second season but im always cautious bc Netflix has a reputation of dropping successful shows ESPECIALLY if it’s something as expensive as animation (it doesnt happen too often but ive seen other shows dropped and yea)

Either way, im very impressed!

THE 100 GIF/COLORING TIPS

Okay, so I know nobody asked for this lmao but I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about the lighting on The 100 (which is completely understandable since it’s very bad.) And even though I’m not at all a pro, I’ve been giffing this show for awhile and I’ve found out some stuff that might be useful for other The 100 gifmakers out there.

WHAT YOU NEED

Photoshop (I use CS5).

General knowledge on giffing.

Patience because The 100 is a hard show to color.

COLORING PREVIEW

WARNING: This is very long. Everything starts under the cut!

GENERAL GIFFING TIPS

Get 1080p/720p downloads. Since The 100 is already a very dark and grainy show, anything lower will ruin the gifs’ quality.

Make sure you have cropped the gifs to the proper Tumblr size. Click here for reference. And get rid of the network logo when you’re cropping it! It always looks better without it.

Sharpen your gifs! I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t. Sharpening your gifs will make it look more HD and show off your coloring better. My sharpening is a smart sharpen with these settings. You can go here if you want to experiment with other actions/settings, though.

Do not have any skipping frames. Please. Your gif will look sloppy and won’t be as smooth, therefore ruining the quality of it.

Make sure you have the gif timing right. I usually go for 0.05 seconds because personally I think it looks best, but I’ve seen some who went with 0.04s or 0.07s and that also works well. Go for 0.05s! I realized now other time settings doesnt work as well as 0.05s especially with The 100.

Save settings. My usual go-to settings are these. Though sometimes I went for selective instead of adaptive and it looks okay, too! :)

+ extras: subtitle!

The font you use for subtitles on your gif will also affect the way your gif looks. Fonts that are too big or too small will make it look less HQ, but having the right font with the right size (and the right position!) will make it look good. Here are some text settings you can use that I’ve found: [ one / two / three ]

COLORING TIPS

Now that you’ve kind of gotten the general giffing tips, I’ve listed out some coloring tips that I found out specifically for The 100. All PSDs will be linked at the end of this post.

Adjust your brightness before anything else.

The 100 is generally very dark, but even with scenes that are already not too-dark, you’re still gonna want to adjust the brightness so you can work on the colors better. I’ll go detailed with this one. We’ll be working on 3 scenes, bright, neutral, and dark scenes.

1. BRIGHT/YELLOW

For this one, I used a scene of Clarke from Season 5.

The scene is already very bright, so what we’re gonna do here is to adjust it so it’ll look prettier without being too bright that it hurts our eyes. First let’s do curves. I added two curves layer, the first one is to add just the tiniest bit more brightness to her face, and the second one is to darken the background. and then I’m gonna add brightness and levels for contrast:

Alright, now that I’m already happy with the brightness, I’m gonna go and adjust the color. This is too yellow for me, so I’m gonna add a color balance layer to and pull up the blues/cyans/magentas

That’s good, but it’s too desaturated. I’m gonna go and add selective layer to make the colors pop up. I adjusted the red, yellow, and neutral and I got this:

Now this looks great already! Unfortunately, I’m annoying so I have to add more adjustments lmao. This is the final result after being added with an extra brightness layer and a gradient map on luminousity.

2. NEUTRAL

For this one, I’m gonna use a scene of Lexa (reshop heda you’ll always be missed) from Season 2. It’s not very bright but it’s also not too dark.

Now the tips with scenes with enough clarity (doesn’t have to be super bright, but if you can still see things clearly) like this one, clicking the ‘auto’ button on curves saves a whole lot of time. I did so and this is what I have in result:

The auto curves will usually brighten the gif and balance the color on it. Often times you still have to adjust it again. But still this will save a lot of time. I added some more brightness and levels before adding color balance and selective colors layer, and here’s the final gif:

Keep in mind that this will only work with some scenes. This will work alright with the Clarke gif above, but it definitely won’t with this next gif we’ll be coloring.

3. DARK/BLUE

Okay now this one requires some work. I chose Octavia’s scene from the Season 6 trailer.

The original sharpened gif (notice that I got rid of the logo! It’s really annoying for me so I always find a way to get rid of it.)

It’s reaally dark. So let’s start with brightening it up a little. I added curves, brightness, levels and more brightness because it was still dark as hell:

Now, you may think it’s already bright enough, but for me personally I can still make it brighter, so I added exposure. With dark scenes exposure works really well. But you have to take it easy with this layer since it affects the gif drastically with very minimal effort. I also added a black and white Gradient Map layer that I always set to luminousity:

Now it’s time to go and adjust the hell out of the color balance to make it less blue! I also added an extra selective colors layer to make the reds pop out and get rid of the pixelated/grainy blacks on her hair. After that I added another brightness layer. Here’s my final result:

The quality on this gif is not as good as the others since it was from the youtube trailer (1080p youtube video are still low compared to web-dl’s) but that’s basically the gist on how I work on The 100′s darker scenes! :)

Color balance and selective colors.

The 100 lighting often makes your gifs not only too dark or too bright, but also too yellow or too blue. Balancing it out using a color balance almost always helps. Selective colors layer will also help when you want to pop up certain parts of your gifs. Here’s some tips on selective colors that I got from msmarvel’s coloring tutorial.

Selective colors and color balance layer usually go in the middle or on top of brightening adjustments for me. But I found out that color balance could also be done after you’ve done your coloring, but you have to put it under the other adjustment layers to have the most effect.

I’m gonna show you how I edit this gif here of Raven and Murphy with what I’ve said above.

Without any coloring:

Yeah, I know. I can’t see anything either.

I brighten up this gif using my method above for dark blue scenes. Curves, brightness, levels, and add more depending on what you need. Here’s what I have now:

We can see both of them properly now, but it’s waay to blue. Also I’m losing some color from Raven’s skin so I’m gonna add color balance under every adjustment and pull up the reds and yellows.

Now it’s better! You can totally leave it here and post your gif like this. but I added an extra selective colors layer to bring out the red, yellows and blacks, and here’s the final result:

I should mention that when it comes to scenes with POCs, you have to be very careful. With this scene with Raven color balance and selective colors helped bring back her color, but on other scene adjusting too much of the red/neutral/yellow might ruin her skin. You are allowed to adjust the colors on a gif extremely when necessary, but be careful about it :)

Some dark scenes are supposed to stay dark.

I realized that with the 100 (or any other shows tbh) brightening up a gif with a dark scene too much will make it lose so much quality and ruin it. So, what I’ve learned to do is to let it be dark. I’ve seen some people brighten their gifs too much and even though I understand your frustration, it’s gonna be better if you just let it be as it is. But, still, make sure it’s bright enough so you can still see the things happening on the gif.

Here’s a gif of Bellamy from Season 5. You can see how dark it is without any coloring:

First, let’s brighten this baby up so we can see Bellamy’s face. I added curves and brightness, levels and more brightness:

Now I know it’s still very dark, but instead of brightening it up too much I’m gonna go to color balance and add the tiniest bit of red and yellow, and then I’ll add a photo filter. These two adjustments are done so we can have more color on his face instead of the ugly dark red we had. With those adjustments, what we have now is this:

Next, we’ll move on to selective color. This is what I mean when I say you have to be careful with this adjustment. I want to brighten up Bellamy’s face by putting down the blacks on the red selective color. But by doing so I might erase all the reds from his face and whitewash him. To prevent that, while I put down the blacks, I bring up the reds (lowering the cyan) and yellows. I also pull up a bit of neutral and black selective color so I can get rid of the grain (adjusting the black on both selective colors.)

With a little more last-minute brightness, here’s the final result:

That’s pretty much it! You can add more brightness than what I did here (I was in a rush when I made this but I would definitely add a little more curves or brightness) as long as it doesn’t ruin the colors and won’t make the grain too visible.

okay so now that i’ve wrapped my head around there being a six of crows/shadow and bone trilogy netflix tv show, i wanted to share some of my thoughts on it:

as y’all can see from my two previous posts on the subject im HELLA excited. bottom line, i cannot WAIT for this. i trust Leigh will force netflix to give this adaptation at least some of the quality it deserves. but imma just say a few things rn:

- my main issue is how theyre gonna handle the plot of the show. in terms of like, timeline, what story they’ll follow, how things will pan out. like is this an ENTIRELY NEW STORY that takes place after crooked kingdom that’ll allow all characters from the grishaverse to co-exist? will it be the books in chronological order, switching povs of characters from both stories? thats a bit much no? or following tgt, and then switch to soc in season 4? im assuning the first season (8 episodes) is purely for shadow and bone, as thats what its been titled so far (according to the article leigh tweeted), but i could be wrong

- what i DONT think is that theyre trying to cram tgt + soc duology into the 8 episodes, which is what i see people saying on here constantly. THEY ARENT TRYING TO CRAM ALL 5 BOOOKS IN 8 EPISODES. netflix series often have multiple seasons. im sure this wont be different. they would be insane to even attempt that.

- pls cast people accordingly (though im not super worried about this, knowing how much leigh is on our side with this matter)

- a lot of you say you didnt like tgt and that since the show is (presumably) starting off with following this series, its going to be a bad show, and get cancelled. but like. lol. first off. just cause you didnt like it doesnt mean other people wont. just cause you didnt like it doesnt necessarily mean its an objectively bad thing. and second. you vastly underestimate how the general public often LOVES any type of magical story with love triangle and pasty white boys. its MUCH easier to get someone into a tv show than a book. its a lot less commitment. you can leave a tv show on while youre chatting or cooking or something. you can’t do that with a book. it would have to be a really REALLY awful show to not pull a good enough portion of the unassuning general public (and again, i trust leigh won’t let it be that bad or at least i hope lol)

- im scared about kaz and how they’ll properly portray his trauma and personality and views on inej WITHOUT some sort of internal monolgue system (i.e his inner voice). its such a big part of kaz to be abe to hear his thoughts, i hope they find a way to do it

- i hope they don’t change kaz and inej’s relationship (i.e make them kiss or something lol)

- wylan and kuwei in ck??? will kuwei’s actor just play both roles the entire time wylan looks like kuwei? will it be cgi? idk

- i dont want to see live action matthias *** uGH

- i hope the magic doesnt look too too crummy

- @lips-and-literature brought up a good point on how SO much happens in crooked kingdom as opposed to soc, to s&b. the inej rescue, the grisha hunters, dunyasha, nina relearning her powers, the arc with colm fahey, the gangs, wylans mom, and so much more. whereas in soc it was just “we need to break into the ice court” and then they do it, and the book ends with “we broke into the ice court”. hopefully by the time soc’s season comes around, the episode count will be the usual 12-22 instead of 8. but that also depends on the episode length

- please let this be good i love my murder babies and alina starkov and i dont want them ruined. im hoping for the best dont let me down leigh

Hey i love your drawings btw they are such an inspiration! I was wondering how you get such good quality images of your art? Whenever i draw something in photoshop and then save it as a png, it comes out blurry once i post it online. it doesnt look sharp like it does when i am drawing it. Your art always looks crisp and clean! also the colors of my art are always off once i post it online too...

waaa sorry for the late response!! and thank you so much!! as for the quality issue, id say make sure your canvas is at a high enough resolution, for example mine are usually 300-350 dpi. using a larger canvas size can also help, i typically start with a 3000x3000 because then if i end up cropping it it wont be super tiny since i started larger which can also help keep things high quality. i used to work on much smaller canvases and it looked okay as i was drawing but i also had trouble with blurriness when i would upload my art online, so maybe that could work?

if you dont think any of that is the problem, it may just be tumblr...ruining it. i dont know if the twitter trick works on tumblr but if you dont want your pic getting all compressed and gross there you can leave 1 pixel transparent and the quality will be preserved, but again afaik thats just twitter? im unsure how to combat tumblr if your canvas size and resolution are already good...

when it comes to colors being off, my colors vary slightly between my phone & my computer, & the laptop i used to use had colors so totally off that i had to send it to my phone first just to make sure it didn’t look completely ridiculous orz its tricky to get colors to look exactly the same across all platforms, but you may be able to adjust things in ur computer’s display settings?

sorry i cant be of more help ;0; i hope you can find a way to fix these issues!! its rly frustrating when things look different after u post them but usually there’s some kind of workaround...

I heard the song and i thought it was beautiful but so heartbreaking and im at the stage now where im this close to closing my account and meeting someone in person all im getting is you broke my heart this and im depressed suicidal that which is so traumatizing for everyone involved even myself. Can you please do me a favour as ive gone over post limit and take a screenshot of this to let everyone know that its too much just to be myself I care too much about everyone else. Eventhough I saw you make some stuff against me I dont hold anything against you or anyone who has tried the same. Everyone has their own shit going on and I have always been notorious for being everyones punching bag because I care too much. I want to give everyone really huge cuddles and a forehead kiss goodbye it would mean the world and maybe I can start a fresh tumblr away maybe more private where Im not going to be destroying peoples lives because my intention was the exact opposite.
