ok here’s a dissection of a post an anon sent me the link to and bc i have the worst time management possible and i completely forgot i had it lol so sorry anon here you go ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I am constantly thinking about how Edelgard just doesn’t seem designed to appeal to cishet men.
i hate to be the one to break this news to you op but just because a character doesn’t show skin like charlotte fire emblem doesn’t mean she isn’t designed to pander to men. she’s very much designed to pander to the (majority straight male) player base with her ‘uwu i only trust you professor omg did u see that rat? pls don’t look at my painting of you uwu’.
then there’s the whole edelgard c support in japanese where byleth makes reference to having come to her room for ‘yobi’ which is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there’s also the scene where byleth can make an unsolicited comment about edelgard’s breast size. which is… uhh… gross.
edelgard also has cipher cards that go from slightly fanserviceie to full on suggestive
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and also her breast armor that my sister relentlessly mocked lol
Tumblr media
and here’s a chart from the 3h subreddit about gender/sexually in regards to edelgard and edeleth. it’s extremely straight male. op might have just overlooked this since they probably don’t go on reddit and stay on tumblr (which unlike reddit is mostly female and has a high lgbt demographic).
Tumblr media
Like the joke is that Bleagles is the Gay House, but everything about her feels deliberately non-hetero.
i don’t like where this is going…
She’s dressed in sharp outfits covering her upper body, with proportions that don’t seem exaggerated.
so women who cover up must be lgbt because straight women are naturally more revealing? oh y i k e s
Her poise and the way she effortlessly flourishes her axe exhibits an air of coolness. While titties out =/= character of no substance, Edelgard being dressed more modestly suggests that she wasn’t designed with male-centred fanservice in mind.
“titties don’t equal no substance but here’s my post on how she has more substance because she doesn’t show titties” ok
And she still looks absolutely stunning in her more modest attire (like seriously, I haven’t felt the need to return to cosplay in years but I want to do her academy look so bad).
yes she does. amazing design 10/10. i have a feeling this is the only part i’m going to agree with
Edelgard is intense. She does not mince her words and she is constantly evaluating you. Though she tries, she has a difficult time understanding her peers initially. Early on, she talks about how she would sacrifice herself and others in the name of some greater good. She is terrible at communicating with her peers. She has to be seen as infallible. Her heart has been hardened for years and she assumes she has to stay that way. She also assumes everyone mourns the same way she does - which is why she (kind of insensitively) insists you move on when Jeralt dies. Because to her, grief has to be channeled towards action, or else you’ll get lost in it. This attitude is demonstrated time and time again as she presses on. It can make her come off as cold and unfeeling - but look closer, and she’s anything but.
don’t really have anything to say at this part. it is pretty on the nose though i would slightly disagree with that last sentence a bit. i wouldn’t say she’s as i feeling as hubert is but all of her talks of the war boil down to how she feels and never her victims.
Her story is ultimately about her realizing that to achieve her goals, she needs to let people in and allow herself to want things like cakes and tea parties and lazy days in peace.
????? what ????? her goals include imperialism, ethnic and religious targeting. her story is about having a set of beliefs and mowing down anybody who stands in her way. that has nothing to do with tea, friends, and lazy days. also am i supposed to be sad that she has to get up everyday and work? i do that and i didn’t start a war and only throw a pity party for myself
The game leaves the player guessing as to how involved the Flame Emperor was in each Part I event, makes you feel hurt by her betrayal, and leaves you with a choice: do you follow the orders of the woman who tried to make you a god without your consent, or a young girl with questionable morals about to throw the world into upheaval?
this isn’t an ideal situation but i think i’m going to stick with the woman who tried to make me a god since i’m not selfish and i know it’s not only my desires and life at stake here. plus the green hair slaps ngl
Choosing her of your own volition (not for completionist reasons) requires the basic ability to sympathize with a woman’s pain. It also requires the player to read beyond her unwavering will and dubious methods to get a sense of how deep that pain goes and how the theme of humanity relates to her differently in each route.
i’m not going to touch this since @nilsh13 made a post on it that i’ll link here. i agree with everything he said so to repeat it would be redundant.
The player must be able to see a young woman’s desperate resolve to change the world so it stops exploiting people and ruining lives. They must be able to accept the fact that women can make the same morally wrong and ambivalent decisions that complicated male characters get to make all the time and still be the one to root for.
literally the same reason i love rhea lol her goddess experiments are dubious at best but her reasons are the same you mentioned. i would say that i like this quality in edelgard too if her ending, while bloody, actually ended in a good outcome for fodlan.
This is not unique to LGBT+ people, but this population is likely to understand why Edelgard feels so strongly about why she has to change the system.
i understand wanting to change a system, i really do. like edelgard, i’m an opinionated bisexual woman (who’s also physically disabled) so yeah i get it. and change can be good but it can also be terrible. even if the church was the boogeyman edelgard treats it as she still replaces it with her own shit regime. so it’s the same circus just with a new conductor.
I don’t think “Edelgard gets undue criticism because she’s a woman” captures the full picture. An important aspect of her treatment by certain parts of the fandom is that she’s a radical woman.
or maybe she does some pretty fucked up shit and it goes unacknowledged in her own route. and yeah she’s radical but in all the worst ways.
Her hatred of the Church and the Crest system resonates way harder with people who have been hurt by institutions that are deeply engrained in our society.
and what about people who have been hurt by systems where their ‘merit’ didn’t measure up and they were left behind? what about people from nations that experienced imperialism?
Siding with her means siding against the Church - which, while different from real world religious institutions, still invokes language about “sin” and “punishment.
yeah the ‘sins’ and ‘punishments’ are used in relation to attempted murders which i think everybody can agree is a bad thing that needs to be condemned.
Choosing Edelgard will likely hit different if homophobic and transphobic Christians used that rhetoric against you.
it has literally nothing to do with ‘sins’ and ‘punishments’ in regards to being gay or trans. that’s you projecting. especially since the church has 2 canon gay characters and two coded ones.
like i can understand why having a church condemn you can be uncomfortable but i’m begging you to please look at the context of what’s happening.
I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that the reason F/F Edeleth is the more popular iteration of that ship because most people who would choose to S-support Edelgard are LGBT+ themselves. This is not a revelation. To anyone in the community, it’s fairly obvious.
i was talking to nilish and he said
Tumblr media
so yeah… while there is definitely sapphic femleth shippers out there, there’s still a whole lot of weird fetishizing going on from straight men about edelgard.
Crimson Flower was my first route. I went into the game knowing absolutely nothing. I played it during the last week of 2020 and hoo boy was it cathartic.
i can tell. this wasn’t supposed to be a dig but it came out that way and i’m not taking it out.
I felt like I was living out a gay revolution power fantasy, where I could truly change systems of oppression while fighting alongside a group of troubled students I’d shaped the lives of.
so a gay revolution power fantasy (cringe) goes hand in hand with imperialism and installing a dictatorship? also the war had nothing to do with sexuality.
Through your unwavering support, Edelgard learns that she needs to be human, that she must listen to her friends, and that she’s allowed to enjoy the world she’s creating.
edelgard gets to learn how to be human all while hunting those who don’t. and she doesn’t listen fo her friends. she doesn’t even trust them. she’s willing to talk to byleth but keep the people who’s been by her side for five years in the dark about everything. and yeah she gets to enjoy her new words since she’s on top. hate to be a commoner under her rule after she burned down my village in her war.
I love this character so much.
clearly. and i honestly don’t care if somebody likes her. i do as well even if my sometimes scathing words can make it seem otherwise.
It has been six months since I first played and I am still analyzing her,
me too. please help me escape i’m losing my mind
because there’s so much depth. Yet so many people fail to see that depth and dismiss her as evil,
i mean, she does some fucked up shit that goes beyond any of the less than desirable actions of the other main characters and does an extremely poor job in trying to make herself seem innocent. i personally don’t think she’s pure evil but i completely understand where the people who say she is are coming from.
because they never had the will to understand complicated women in the first place.
Tumblr media
that’s big talk from somebody who implies that a gay pope is comparable to homophobic and transphobic irl religions and that leads an oppressive regime all because she uses the vague terms of sin and punishments that you have to gay power fantasy your way out of

I was gonna do a “missing the point”-style meme but I’m honestly not sure that would even work tho so:
Harry Potter and My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia have similar issues with introducing and then immediately ignoring ENORMOUS issues re: ableism.
I think these two series in specific come to mind bc it’s ableism within a specific empowered community, and in both cases the series are pretty well-known and the community (Wix/Heroes) are immediately identifiable to many audiences.
[WARNING: Discussions of ableism, child harm, and abuse on multiple levels.]
What’s the problem?
SQUIBS.
[This post got stupid huge SO here is a tl,dr for all you lovely people who understandably have no time for this.
TL, DR: Both Harry Potter and Boku No Hero have a bad tendency to implement or imply a level of disability regarding unempowered people in empowered societies. They then continue on to completely disregard important conclusions to these implications, such as how heavily it is implied that these unempowered people (Squibs) are so ‘worthless’ to those societies that their very deaths are merely a byline rather than an actual tragedy.
This is especially troubling in MHA/BNHA when so many other political and worldbuilding considerations HAVE been planned out, and seems to be less-discussed in the fandom as a whole, so that’s a much larger chunk of this post.]
That’s your tl, dr!
Here’s the Harry Potter angle:
HP has a bit that I’ve seen people discussing already: Neville’s magic was discovered when his uncle dropped a literal child a potenial lethal distance.
Neville activating his power and surviving is celebrated, and then JKR immediately glosses over the glaring issue this has introduced: the heavy implication that a Squib dying from this incident would have not have been mourned or even really commented on.
The few adult Squibs (and isn’t that a whole new slice of wonderful /j) are generally disliked and ridiculed for some reason or other. Now, while obviously there are plenty of places where the Venn diagram of “disabled” and “asshole” intersect irl, when your ONLY presentation of a disabled character or group is, every time, an asshole or a fool or both, boy! That’s bad!
Neville (who is generally presented as magically, physically, and mentally weak and often treated as comic relief) is a bit better via the POV Character constantly having positive interactions with him, but this is still a mess. Yes, Neville canonically is not a Squib, but it’s not subtle that he’s on the cusp OF being a Squib, and that is a key element of ridiculing him in many situations (also the whole trauma thing multiple times, like if I really get into it I could do a whole double-size post of how Neville was done dirty or nearly dirty by JK all the time but this isn’t that post).
This isn’t even the point of this post. Let’s move to MHA/BNHA
Hero Academia has differing but honestly even worse issues. And I’m aware that different countries handle ableism and accessibility in different ways, but if you think too hard about it this is an absolute clusterfuck.
What is the problem now?
Squibs! Or rather, the main character of the series, Midoriya Izuku.
Deku (a nickname meaning “useless”! Imparted after his disability is recognized! hilarity!!) is also born without powers. Even worse in some ways, he is born without powers in a world where the overwhelming majority of the global population has some kind of empowerment. I can’t recall if it’s outright stated or only implied that someone with a functionally useless (and hoo boy, usefullness to society is its own post nope not today i do not have that much energy) Quirk is still more of a person than a Quirkless human.
That sink in? Okay, let’s move on.
In a narratively not-uncommon turn of events, Deku gains power. This is partially a product of, and directly tied to, his own work and determination, as well as his willingness to help even when physically outmatched.
To an American audience (NOT the intended audience though I wouldn’t doubt it if Horikoshi meant to have international appeal more or less from the start), this is a deeply satisfying narrative. Who doesn’t love an underdog story? And we even learn that the strongest hero of all time (til this point, anyways) was ALSO born Quirkless!
However, from here, things take a nosedive.
The key problem is a combination of story progression and overall thought put into worldbuilding. Horikoshi’s efforts may not be the MOST thorough, but he has put a great deal of work and thought into his creation (he at least understands the concept of implications and sometimes plans accordingly, looking at you JKR). However, that tied with story progression and personal repercussions actually works to the detriment of the matter.
Especially given recent turns of events.
[BIG MEGA SPOILERS FOR FAIRLY RECENT PLOT
STOP HERE IF YOU’RE NOT CAUGHT UP
 SERIOUSLY]
What I mean by this is the current state of events re: two particular recent/recent-ish plot arcs.
First, Quirk Removal, and second, Endeavor’s comeuppance.
Quirk Removal/Loss was the start of my realization to what the narrative was doing regarding Izuku’s Quirklessness and the state of being overall.
This arc was a perfect time to bring up Midoriya’s past! A lot of Western works certainly would have done so! And yes, it may be bordering on done-to-death, but many elements of Hero Academia put new twists on common themes and cliches; it wasn’t unreasonable to hope that he might do it again.
Instead, little to NOTHING is discussed during this time! In fact, iirc I’d go so far as to say Midoriya straight-up never considers his past at any point during this arc!? If I’m wrong then it obviously made little impact.
NOW, not every disabled character needs to incorporate their disability and/or skills gleaned from living with it in every narrative. In fact, it would get tedious and questionable if they did (note: this does NOT mean ignoring/forgetting the character is even disabled when convenient. Like, I’d like to think that’s the obvious point of this post but... *gestures at tumblr*).
But the complete lack of it here feels really weird. Like, almost hollow. I think Midoriya makes some kind of suggestion to Mirio of his former Quirklessness at the end of the arc, but nothing that made any kind of impact.
Let’s move on.
Endeavor.
Now, the problem with Endeavor’s arc is not the arc itself. Or, rather, it’s the fact that Endeavor’s Comeuppance is pretty good.
This is a problem because someone else should be getting this exact same arc, yet the issue is never even RECOGNIZED, let alone addressed.
Endeavor’s abuse of his wife and children, all in the name of creating a Heroic legacy, is publicized and tanks his popularity. The general public is now aware of what he’s done to the people closest to him, which aside from giving him a more correct reputation, means they can’t trust him to protect them if they can’t trust him to protect his own family.
This isn’t the goal of this post and I’m no expert regardless, but up to this point (around chapter 290) this was handled in an interesting way. Endeavor is humanized and often shown interacting with people in a way that, while often domineering, isn’t always aggressive or abusive. He runs a Hero Agency for crying out loud! But abuse in the real world often isn’t constant, nor happening to everyone in contact with the abuser. So this is a surprisingly good lead up to the reveal, where you can understand how most people never realized this was an issue.
But here’s my main point. Let’s examine some traits and actions that come up:
physically abusive to a child (often dangerously so) to the point of permanent trauma and severe scarring in some cases
target of abuse was weaker (physically and/or regarding Quirk power)
often abused victim emotionally/psychologically, bringing this weakness up again and again
own immense power led to rising in the world of Heroics
comrades, fellow Heroes, UA teachers etc. not aware of prior abuse issues
Who does this sound like?
Endeavor, who has a whole fucking arc dedicated to this reveal and repercussions?
Or Bakugou?
Reminder: This isn’t a hate post. This isn’t a character post, or even an abuse post. This is about ableism.
Bakugou exhibits many, many traits and actions that Endeavor was literally just punished for. So why does the treatment of these characters in-universe differ so drastically?
Two primary reasons I can think of, which feed into each other:
1) Bakugou was a child (still technically is a minor, remember! Still a first-year high schooler!) when this started. This doesn’t mean he’s strictly innocent, but it’s an important point, because it leads us to
2) Bakugou Katsuki’s abuse of Midoriya Izuku is socially accepted.
Reminder of the audience’s first encounter with Katsuki. The very first page with him is him and his grade-school posse picking on a kid that Izuku is trying to protect. His posse is showing off their Quirk powers and mocking Izuku’s lack thereof.
Then we flash forward to late-middle school versions of the kids. Bakugou, in front of a fucking teacher and entire class, is verbally, physically, etc. abusive to Izuku. He trashes his stuff, threatens him, tells him to kill himself (which, as Izuku notes later, is a fucking felony in Japan too).
No one stops him.
No one criticizes him.
We don’t even get a shot of like, some more ‘regular’ students being like “man Bakugou’s kinda fucked up but we’re too scared to do anything about it” NO. NO. Everyone more or less either backs Katsuki up or straight up doesn’t care.
Remember that this started when Katsuki and Izuku were four. Remember that Katsuki’s power is absurdly dangerous, ie. LITERAL. GODDAMN. EXPLOSIONS.
Izuku has scars. He probably has hearing loss! He may have gotten at least one concussion which can cause serious neurological issues and open him up to further risk!
He could have died.
And?
NO ONE. DOES. ANYTHING.
THIS is the point of the post. THIS is the value placed on Quirkless people in this society.
And yet. Despite Endeavor’s comeuppance. Despite All Might and Izuku’s blatant ‘value’ to society through Heroics. Despite so many other political implications and quandaries address in the Hero Academia series.
Nothing. Nothing. Nothing about this is addressed. The nearly-lethal ableism towards Quirkless people in this society is never ONCE brought up properly once Izuku receives One For All.
There is so much potential here! There is so much worth talking about! And yet we’ve moved into what feels very much like the Final Battle without it being addessed, despite numerous, numerous opportunities for a meaningful conversation about it along the way.
Mirio losing his power! Hell, Mirio’s powers’ drawbacks (and pretty much every Quirk’s drawback! if acknowledged properly!) border on a disability-analogue, and even more when Yuga’s laser comes up, and yet again and again we fail to truly engage with the matter in a meaningful way.
At this point, even if it comes up in the finale, I’m going to be disappointed in this particular aspect of the series due to the complete and total shut-down it’s been given so far.
What the FUCK, Horikoshi?

I have seen many, MANY discussions/debates about ca:cw and I have never seen anyone mentioning that Rhodey's injury was a metaphor. How did you get that idea?
Short answer: I’ve actually read a lot on the subject.  I’m teaching a media studies class right now called “What Can Superheroes Tell Us About Psychology?” (because that’s the kind of shit you can get away with at giant universities) and hoo boy are superhero narratives More Ableist Than Average.  Anywhoo, a few of those readings:
I’m quoting hard from the chapter “Hyper-Normative Heroes, Othered Villains: Differential Treatment of Disability in Marvel” in a book on disability studies because it’s free.  A relevant passage:
“These metaphorical portrayals all fail to engage with disability as a social category and as an individual identity, thereby ignoring its context… Nick Fury’s missing eye does not change his aim with distance weapons (e.g. Captain Marvel) or piloting software. Instead, it recurs in the films largely in metaphorical lines such as Fury’s commenting on the death of a friend with ‘I just lost my one good eye’… One character in Avengers even questions the lack of accessibility in Fury’s multi-monitor computer console, and Fury’s assistant simply answers that he must turn his head more often to compensate. The franchise thereby emphasizes that Fury’s missing eye is only a metaphor for his discernment and ability to see details that others have missed, rather than a truly integrated part of his character or even an accurate portrayal of that disability.
“8. This treatment of disability as metaphor persists throughout the MCU. In Captain America: Civil War, superhero War Machine incurs a permanent spinal injury while fighting on behalf of his best friend Iron Man. Later on, rival superhero Hawkeye… ‘You gotta watch your back with this guy. There’s a chance he’s gonna break it.’ The film then equips War Machine with a fantastical prosthesis that essentially nullifies his disabled experience through giving him the same range of motion as his non-disabled [abled] teammates, entirely without side effects or need for maintenance. The MCU films thus present disability as a metaphor for inner morality and characterization. War Machine has few experiences of being a disabled man through his spinal injury, but is instead emotionally ‘disabled’ by the damage to his social standing he has incurred through his friendship with Iron Man… The MCU thereby offers no critique of ableism or inaccessibility, instead continuing to localize disability as a problem with the body and the individual.”
Death, Disability, and the Superhero: The Silver Age and Beyond by José Alaniz is also a fantastic resource, and you can buy it for money here or hopefully find it at a library if you have no money.  A few of the relevant points from his book:
Superhero stories often treat disability as a “problem” that must be “solved” through in essence nullifying the disabled experience of the character(s) through superpowers that run directly counter to the disabilities and/or fantasy “cures,” e.g.
Daredevil is blind BUT navigates the world in a way similar to sighted people due to his “radar sense,” meaning that he doesn’t get to have a lot of the lived experiences of blind individuals
Don Blake is mobility impaired and uses a cane BUT his cane transforms into mjolnir and imbues him with the power of Thor, meaning that he spends most of the story moving like a nondisabled person
Hawkeye is hard of hearing sometimes in some of the comics, BUT he often gets magical cochlear implants from Tony Stark that cause him to stop being hard of hearing
Characters that are disabled and remain disabled tend to be villains whose villainy is either implied or stated to come directly from their bitterness over being disabled, e.g.
Doctor Doom hates that he’s scarred by an explosion so much that he wants to take over the world to get revenge on the Fantastic Four
The Lizard only transforms himself because he ignores all scientific and ethical boundaries in his desperation to stop being disabled
Doctor Poison is described by herself and other characters as a “monster” for failing to (unlike Wonder Woman) conform to White Western conceptualizations of female beauty
Characters like The Thing, She-Hulk, and Bizarro have the potential for some really interesting disability narratives.  However, the same publication pressures that prevent permanent injury or death to the characters also prevent the inclusion of “serious” “real-world” issues like discrimination unless it’s metaphorical (e.g. anti-mutant fearmongering as a metaphor for anti-AIDS prejudice).
The Big Damn Foundational Text on the intersection of disability studies and media studies is Narrative Prosthesis: Disability and the Dependencies of Discourse by David T. Mitchell and Sharon L. Snyder, and you can pay money for it here but it’s also available at a lot of libraries.  Anyway, a couple of relevant points from that book include:
Disability portrayals abound in literature going back to pretty much the dawn of history, but most of those portrayals suck ass because:
Most disabilities are treated as metaphors rather than demographic characteristics, which means that the disabled character doesn’t get connected to other people with disabilities (including those in the real world) and offers no commentary on ableism — if Richard III’s spinal misalignment is just a metaphor for him being “twisted” inside, it doesn’t allow readers with spinal misalignment to identify with him
Disabled characters tend to exist to teach lessons to nondisabled characters rather than having their own journeys — Tiny Tim isn’t a person in A Christmas Carol, he’s an object lesson for Scrooge
Many disabled characters either get “fixed” so that they look outwardly “normal,” or their “ugliness” is used to make concrete the abstract “ugliness” of their personalities
Disability is treated as a “problem” that demands an explanation – Captain Ahab’s prosthetic leg and Joker’s facial scarring are treated as automatically demanding the question “why are you like this?,” even though no one would ever ask the same thing of their nondisabled co-characters
Authors’ implicit ableism tends to come out in their horror of disability, such as when they portray disabled characters preferring death to disability, going to extreme lengths to avoid or nullify disability, and/or declaring themselves “worthless” or “burdensome” in light of disability
Discomfort with disability — another form of implicit ableism – also comes out when disabled characters are overwhelmingly “killed or cured,” meaning that they don’t get to end their stories as living individuals who are still, in practice, disabled
ANYWAY, that’s a long-winded way of saying that I also haven’t seen any critics specifically talk about Rhodey’s disability as a metaphor first and a part of the character second, but that that doesn’t mean the shoe don’t fit.  When someone asks about the Accords in Infinity War, Rhodey also says he supported them but then “I’m pretty sure I paid for that,” and gestures at his own paralyzed legs.  He also also says in Endgame “I wasn’t always like this… but we work with what we’ve got” when talking to Nebula, BOTH about the fact that he’s disabled and about the fact that half the universe is dead and they’re all struggling to cope with that fact.  It keeps getting used as a metaphor and keeps NOT getting used as a part of his identity.  LET THE MAN TALK TO SOME OTHER DISABLED VETERANS FOR TWO SECONDS, FOR FUCK’S SAKE.
A couple of other (free!) readings that talk about that general problem of “we love superheroes and we hate ableism, now what?” even if they don’t mention Rhodey specifically:
“Reevaluating the Supercrip” by Sami Schalk connects media portrayals of the paralympics to media portrayals of Captain America and the Doom Patrol.  (I swear to god it makes sense in context.)
“Seven Roads to Justice for Superheroes and Humans” by Mikhail Lyubansky gets into the glaring (for me, anyway) question of “why the fuck are sci fi psychologists all so evil and useless?” by explaining why Harley Quinn must be evil for Batman to be a vigilante.
“Superhero Comics as Moral Pornography” by David A. Pizarro and Roy Baumeister (again, I swear it makes sense if you read it) discusses the evolutionary tendency to judge people based on disabilities and why it’s so popular in superhero stories specifically.
Anyway, you probably weren’t looking for an entire annotated bibliography in response to that question, but I’ve never been one to use five words when 500 would suffice.

Why Lila Apolgists Make Absolutely No Sense
*SIGH*
You know, typically, I honestly believe its fine to like a villain’s character. They can be interesting, and so does their progression. Perfect example of this is Chloe Bourgeois. Don’t get me wrong, I hate Chloe with a passion. She’s entitled, an elitist, a spoiled brat, a vicious bully, and an even worse superhero who frankly shouldn’t have been given another chance since she squandered it by still being a bully after being trusted with the Bee Miraculous.
However, we do see her character change a bit once we see how her mother is. Frankly, her mother’s abandonment of her is still no excuse. Especially since now that her mother is staying in Paris, Chloe and her mother delight and even bond over being as mean as possible to others. Chloe does gain some insight but has trouble learning from her mistakes.
Chloe apologists make excuses for her because of her mother, but they have no leg to stand on because while Audrey Bourgeois is mean, treating her daughter meanly didn’t turn Chloe mean. I say that because Audrey Bourgeois was absent from Chloe’s life, so she had no real influence on Chloe. Chloe just likes being mean, and so does her mother and they bond over it.
Which brings me to Lila Rossi.
Lila Rossi is a flagrant, vicious, unrepentant liar and a bully. From the very first episode that she appears in, it’s clear the only purpose of her lying is to make herself look better to get people to like her, and so that she could possess Adrien Agreste.
Some Lila apologists, (I’m not gonna @ anyone because quite frankly some people are literal infants who can’t take when someone criticizes their fave character and feel the need to insult people when they were in fact not insulted at all. News flash majority of the fandom hates her and if you don’t want her to be criticized in your posts, turn off the fucking comments.) wholly believe that Lila was just lonely and is a “teenage girl who makes dumb decisions like every other teenager.” “Just wants people to like her because she moves around so much.” “She’s being manipulated by Hawk Moth.”
OH. FUCKING. PLEASE.
First of all, Lila doesn’t want friends. She wants fans. There’s a big difference. Lila didn’t even tryto be honest when she first got there. She just immediately came in and started lying about knowing all these famous people and making promises she couldn’t possibly keep to make herself look good. News flash, there’s no fucking excuse for her to lie like that. Was it dumb for her to lie like that? Yes. But for those apologists that say that she’s just a teenager and that teenagers make dumb mistakes, the point of negative consequences is that you LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES. She had negative consequences when she got caught by Ladybug and chewed out.
And before people come on my post and whine about how Ladybug shouldn’t have chewed her out like that, lemme break that interaction down a bit:
_______
- Lila used a superhero’s name to make herself look good, but not only did she make herself a target for Hawk Moth, she jeopardized Ladybug’s standing in Paris. What would happen if Lila’s lying made citizens view Ladybug negatively, which considering how easily Lila turned Marinette’s classmates against her, isn’t a stretch.
- Ladybug had been jealous, there’s no doubt about that and I don’t condone her jealousy. Jealousy however is NOT the only reason she followed Lila. It stopped being about Lila the moment Marinette saw Lila steal that book. I say that because Marinette was clearly afraid that Adrien would believe Lila’s lies since Lila had worked hard to make herself look like a real superhero in Adrien’s eyes in order to gain his affection. Marinette was also angry because Lila, who she doesn’t know from a can of paint was disparaging her superhero persona in order to manipulate Adrien into liking her.
_______
Now that I’ve broken that interaction down, I can say that Ladybug had absolutely EVERY right to chew Lila out like that. Ladybug softly taking her aside wasn’t gonna help Lila. Lila would have just kept lying because it works for her. Lila needed to be exposed and embarrassed about being caught, because those are adequate consequences to being a liar. Consequences are a learning tool for when you do something wrong. Yeah she made a “dumb teenager mistake”, but when she was caught she felt embarrassed and should have learned not to lie like that anymore.
Instead, she blames Ladybug for outing her, which is absolutely stupid.
Lila has no one to blame but herself for her actions. Ladybug isn’t the one who lied, Lila did. Ladybug wasn’t the one who stole Adrien’s book, got a fake miraculous to impress him, and toss his book in the garbage. Ladybug also didn’t lie to her parents about school being closed because of akuma attacks, and lie to her classmates and teacher about traveling to these exotic places. Ladybug didn’t willingly work with Hawk Moth on Heroes Day to get multiple people akumatized by making Ladybug look like a villain. Ladybug wasn’t the one who lied about having a disability to sit next to a boy, nor did she threaten a student in a bathroom and then again willingly work with Hawk Moth. Ladybug didn’t lie her way into the Agreste mansion in order to spend time with Adrien, or give him an unwanted kiss, take a picture of it, and then send it out to everyone she could in order to make it seem like she and Adrien were together. Nor did Ladybug willing team up with an akuma and lie about being injured so that the heroes of Paris would lose the battle. Ladybug also didn’t willingly go after Chloe Bourgeois so that she could break the connection that Chloe and Adrien have.
No. Lila did all of that.
Which is why it baffles me that Lila apologists makes these excuses for Lila like she’s some little lost lamb who’s just so lonely that she can’t help but lie in order to make friends, or that she’s being manipulated and groomed by Hawk Moth to act that way.
BOO. FUCKING. HOO.
Nobody told Lila to lie to people. She did that all on her own and she guards her lies viciously. She was a liar before Hawk Moth ever targeted her, and judging by how good she is at manipulating others, she’s been doing this long enough to be good at it. Being the new student is no excuse to lie to make friends. The moment she was caught by Ladybug she should have learned her lesson and confess to her classmates. If she were repentant about it, it’s more than likely that people would forgive her. Maybe not everyone, but that’s still a consequence she should experience for lying.
Even if she really was that lonely, she’s only going to be more lonely once she gets caught by everyone. And then she’s back to her supposedly lonely status with the added consequence that no one trusts her.
But Lila’s own willingness to do anything to guard her lies by isolating and bullying someone makes the entire argument that she’s lonely unfounded. In fact, Lila’s loneliness works to her advantage because without her mother there to dispute her lies, she can lie all she wants and manipulate people to her side to her heart’s content. If she was really just some teenage girl who was lonely, why would she make someone else feel isolated and lonely? That entire argument is BOGUS.
As for being manipulated by Hawk Moth, I will say that he is manipulating Lila, but not NEARLY to the extent that Lila apologists make it seem like she is.
Let me explain:
_________
Hawk Moth didn’t manipulate Lila into going after Marinette. Lila did that all on her own. Hawk Moth did however make a public statement to piss Lila off in order to akumatize her on Heroes Day…..
The first time.
The second time was absolutely her own willingness to work with Hawk Moth, a terrorist, in order to take down the heroes of Paris. Once he took those powers away, he was no longer manipulating her through magic. She looked more than happy to continue working with Hawk Moth. I will admit though, after seeing Troublemaker, that it may be possible to still be in the villain mindset even when the item is broken and the person returns to their regular form without being cleansed by Miraculous Ladybug. The majority of those who didn’t do that, for example Weredad, where Tom went back to his human form and didn’t still act like a villain despite not being cleansed by Miraculous Ladybug, proves that it is more than possible for a person’s akuma powers to be taken away and they return to their normal mindset.
I fully believe the latter example is what happened to Lila.
Her continued hate of Ladybug is proof enough that she willingly helped Hawk Moth the second time he akuamtized her on Heroes Day. She didn’t regret anything she did.
_________
Lila is more than willing to work with others to achieve her goals of bringing down Ladybug and having Adrien for herself. Gabriel however, doesn’t manipulate Lila much. He doesn’t have to. All he does is point her in the right direction with some comments like he did in Miraculer when he spoke about Chloe and Adrien’s friendship. All he said was:
“I don’t think Adrien is completely indifferent to Chloe, they’ve had a very strong friendship ever since they were young. A relationship that no one can ruin.”
Everything that Gabriel said about Chloe and Adrien’s friendship was the absolute truth. Did he know that it would rile Lila up? Absolutely. Did he make her go after Chloe? Absolutely NOT. She did that on her own out of jealousy and the need to have Adrien all to herself. Gabriel in fact hadn’t said a word to Lila before she started ranting about Adrien’s friends. She did that all on her own. He didn’t offer her anything to go after Chloe. He didn’t lie to Lila about Chloe and Adrien’s friendship. He hadn’t even been the first one to mention Chloe, Lila did that.
Like I said, Lila wasn’t manipulated much by Hawk Moth. He doesn’t need to do that. In Chameleon he certainly didn’t manipulate her into taking the akuma. She akumatized herself and was all to willing to do it. In fact, Hawk Moth sent Oni-chan after Lila to keep her away from Adrien, and it was after Oni-chan that Gabriel saw a way to concurrently benefit from Lila’s manipulative ways.
Sorry Lila apologists. You can’t claim that Hawk Moth is the reason she acts this way or that he’s consistently grooming her. Because if you look at all the facts in canon, he isn’t. He doesn’t really need to. He didn’t manipulate Lila into hating Chloe because she already hated Chloe before Gabriel ever mentioned Chloe and Adrien’s bond. All he did was tell the truth. He didn’t make Chloe out to be some big bad villain that Lila needs to save Adrien from. He just said that they were friends for a long time. And for that reason, Lila went after Chloe.
Is Gabriel a manipulative prick and terrible father? No doubt about it. But surprisingly enough, despite how he already dislikes Nino, he never made Adrien break off their friendship. In fact the only reason he mentioned Chloe’s friendship with Adrien in the first place was because he wanted to get Chloe to be his ally and to steal the Bee Miraculous. He doesn’t want to Lila to isolate Adrien from his friends. He could have done that himself.
Lila however DOES want to isolate Adrien from his friends. I can think of no other reason why she would want to separate Nino and Adrien other than to keep Adrien completely to herself and isolate him so that she is the only one he will turn to for comfort. Sociopaths and psychopaths will act charming in order to get someone, and then they will convince or bully their significant other or friend that they don’t need their friends or family until they have no one else to turn to.
She wouldn’t mention Alya because Alya has no romantic interest in Adrien and needs her in order to have internet fame on the Ladyblog. Nino however is someone that Adrien would gladly spend time with without Lila, and people like her can’t stand that. They are so jealous that they won’t even tolerate the object of their affection to have friends.
It may seem out there to Lila apologists, but here’s something that they cannot deny that is absent in canon.
Gabriel in canon never mentions his dislike of Nino to Lila.
Not. Fucking. ONCE.
EDIT: (I can’t believe I forgot to add this the first time.) What proves my theory about Lila’s dislike of Nino is in Chameleon. What I forgot about was that after Adrien told Lila to stop lying, she tried to do to Adrien what she threatened to do to Marinette, to turn his friends against him. That part is important not only because of how she tried to punish Adrien for going against her, but also because of who she tried to turn against him first. And the person she immediately went for was NINO.
That destroys any possibility that Gabriel told her his dislike of Nino for her to exploit, and that’s important because it means that she really is trying to break up Adrien and Nino’s friendship. It’s also important because if she destroyed their friendship, she would then be able to control Adrien through that friendship.
All it would take are a few words about how Nino should be friends again with Adrien and Adrien would have his best friend back. But that also means that if Adrien didn’t fall in line to what she wanted, she can destroy that friendship again. And we all know how much Adrien treasures his friendships when he’s not sticking his head in the sand.
So what reason would she have to hate Nino and insult him besides her own interests in Miraculer? Oh yeah.
NONE.
It’s not far off from what she’s trying to do with Gabriel. She’s trying to control Adrien’s life through his father who everyone knows is really strict. A word from Lila would tip things in her favor, and it benefits Gabriel because her lies are a chance to akumatize someone. Just like we see in Miraculer, Lila is all too willing to badmouth anyone in her way to Gabriel in order to manipulate Gabriel into isolating Adrien from his friends.
In conclusion,
Nearly everything that Lila apologists make excuses for in regards to Lila’s behavior can EASILY be debunked by canon. She’s not truly lonely because her efficiency in lying depends on her being the only one that spreads information. And she clearly likes to lie.
Lila needed to be exposed in the way Ladybug did it because she needs consequences to learn not to lie. Instead she just blames everything on Ladybug instead of herself because she’s a narcissist, and a sociopath who refuses to take the blame for anything she’s done wrong.
Gabriel isn’t manipulating Lila into the way she is or nearly as much as apologists make it out to be. She was lying before he ever akumatized her, and he’s never made her believe that the people she hates are evil. Not even Ladybug. She already hated Ladybug, and she already hated Chloe before Gabriel ever mentioned the truth about Chloe and Adrien’s friendship.
The arguments that Lila apologists make in order to justify Lila’s behavior in the show is mostly unfounded. Now, I love Marinette, but I will absolutely openly criticize her behavior when she screws up. And she has screwed up plenty of times. But Marinette learns from her mistakes and actively tries to make up for what she’s done wrong.
Lila has absolutely done none of that. At least Chloe has tried, and as much as I hate Chloe, that makes Chloe better than Lila in my book.
Before I end this, let me give this one last piece of criticism for Lila apologists, or just people in general who do this:
Calling people names and insulting them for having a differing opinion is absolutely juvenile and people who do this should be ashamed of themselves.
For Lila apologists in particular, It’s also really funny how they talk all this shit about a person who has a differing opinion about Lila by saying “you’re hating on a teenage fictional character” when they will openly insult anyone who hates that “teenage fictional character”.
I often post on Lila and even Chloe, Kagami, and Adrien apologist’s posts because I want to have a discussion and see the reasons why they believe certain behaviors are okay. My intention is to offer a differing opinion so that people can stan less and think more. I don’t always go about it correctly and I tend to use sarcasm sometimes. That’s my fault and I will admit that. But I have never insulted anyone. My purpose isn’t to pick a fight. It’s to discuss canon and trade theories. I look at things unbiased based on the facts that I am given from canon. We’re all fans of this show, not competing houses in fucking Hogwarts. We’re allowed to have differing opinions and we’re certainly allowed express our differing opinions if the comments are open.
I once told a Lila fan that she should stay in her lane and not comment on people who hate Lila’s posts. Honestly, now that I’m writing this, I feel a bit like a hypocrite in regards to that time. There is however a difference. They were basically demanding that everyone tag their Lila hate, and I had to explain that Lila as a character was meant to be hated, and it wasn’t fair to make the majority who hate Lila tame their opinions of her in order to make the small amount of people who like her happy. I suggested that they tag in a way that is welcoming to Lila fans.
That’s totally fine to do and I still suggest people do that.
I also suggest to Lila fans, apologists, etc., that you should be prepared to accept criticism if you decide to leave the comments open on any post, and not just posts about Lila. If you can’t take that, turn off the comments or make a place where you can do that. But remember this:
You don’t get to insult people and act fucking immature just because you can’t take criticism about a “teenage fictional character”. Or any character.
The comments are open and I eagerly await a rebuttal.

Magic Legends
youtube
Hoo boy. I’m honestly shocked it took this long. The Magic Multiverse is deep enough to nearly endlessly expand into, and many people are at least casually familiar with it. Basically, I’m pretty stoked, but as always, I have thoughts.
Full disclosure, I tend to stay away from MMORPGs just for the simple reason that they are too easy to completely lose your entire life into. Plus, I already have paper Magic & Arena to do that, so I otherwise try to stick to video games with clear starts and finishes. That said, a Magic: The Gathering based game is exactly the sort of thing that could suck me right back in.
Thoughts
I alternate between excitement and concern. My biggest concern is that the gameplay will be unexciting. The worldbuilding is likely to be pretty solid, given the material they have to work with, but translating the gameplay into something that isn’t just “World of Warcraft, but instead of continents, PLANES...” is going to be the biggest challenge for them to overcome. But, that will also be the biggest achievement if they manage to do it well.
My second biggest concern is that they will use the color pie too rigidly in such a way that it imposes too many limits on character building. One pessimistic commenter said “pessimistic prediction: one class per color” and I highly doubt that. They know better (at least... they must know better, right?). No, I have hope that they will come up with something a little more interesting.
The challenge is that in MTG lore, all characters use magic slightly differently. There are some obvious overlaps, like Chandra and Jaya, who would both fit squarely into “Pyromancer” class. But what about someone like Koth? Is that an entirely different class? Or do they mix his power suite up with the pyromancer power suite and come up with a more generic Red “Elementalist” class?
Similar things could be said for characters like Gideon & Teyo. They’d probably fall into similar classing. But would they bundle Elspeth & Ajani’s powers into the same class? This question really comes down to how finely they choose to divide the classes up. My guess is they probably won’t want to have more than 10-15 classes to start.
Character Creation - Class
I’ve actually given a lot of thought to this (shower/car thoughts), and there are definitely some cool ways they could mix up the color pie and still give people a reasonable amount of customization, but within some sort of confines so the game isn’t infinitely large. My solution would be to try to divide the realms of magic use into some number of “Schools”, which then have combinations of colors available to them. For example, one school would be “Elementalism”, associated with Red, Green, and Blue mana. You could pick any one or two color combination from within those three, and that would determine your Class.
That would allow for a high degree of customization (each school would have at least 6 Classes associated with it), but there could be some shared design, moves, and in-game resources for all Classes within the School. So your moveset would be some number of general moves from your School, plus the specialized moves for your color & specific Class. (So a Green-Red Elementalist would get some general moves that all Elementalists get, some moves that all Green or all Red Elementalists get, and some specific moves that only the Green-Red ones get.) Examples of Schools that would cover most known Planeswalker movesets (totally just examples):
Elementalism - Red/Green/Blue - This covers all the elements & is probably the most straightforward. Probably the main DPS grouping.
Artifice - White/Blue/Black/Red? - These would be the characters who can manipulate metal as a core part of their powers. Characters like Tezzeret & Saheeli. Supports good for team buffs.
Arcane (or something?) - White/Blue/Black - Some sort of a catch-all bucket for characters who manipulate minds, time, law, and seek knowledge for power. Good at weakening/disabling the enemies & providing certain types of buffs. Also counterspells. :)
Soul/Spirit - White/Black/Green - This could cover a lot of the characters that manipulate life & death and call on spirits & demons to assist them. These would be the best healers
Creature - All colors? - These would be characters like Vivien & Huatli whose primary power suite involves summoning and bonding with creatures (and maybe those who transform into creatures). They’d be able to support and flex into roles as needed, based on their summons
Fighting/Martial - All colors? - The physical group for players who want to be Gideon and others who are strong physical fighters, aided by magic. Probably the main tanks and maybe some DPS for rogue-like characters (maybe Black-aligned goes towards DPS, white-aligned goes towards tank?)
So yeah, that’s just an example of one way they could subdivide, cover a lot of the bases, and still provide tons of customization, because within each School you could choose any combination of colors. (Probably just mono or dual color)
Character Creation - Race/Origin
The other part of character creation is the race & origin of your character. Personally, the #1 thing I hope they do NOT do is tie race & class together. I’d really love the flexibility to pick any race and class combination, and not fall into the usual tropes. What they should do, however, is provide a choice of origin planes for each race.
For example, I would love it if they had 5 or 6 possible starting home planes (Ravnica, Zendikar, Innistrad, Dominaria, Kaladesh, & Theros, for example?), then for each race, you got a selection of starting points. If you pick Elf for your character, you could choose to start your adventure on Ravnica, Zendikar, Dominaria, or Kaladesh, but not Theros or Innistrad.
Humans could start anywhere, of course, but each other race would have a subset of starting points, and that selection of Race & Origin would determine your starting point and initial storyline, leading to your spark ignition. And yes, I think it’s crucial that characters go through an initial story that culminates in their spark ignition, and flings them to another plane.
Wrap Up
Anyway, I don’t want to go too deep down this rabbit hole, because at the end of the day, they’re going to create what they create. My only hope is that they really do justice to the incredible Magic creative with equally compelling gameplay.

Trial 5 - Clash of Sidekicks (2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“This is the worst movie I’ve watched since ‘The Wizard of Monomi’!”
"The fact that you can admit to watching that says a lot about you.”
Investigation 1 / 2 - second half is where I put my own theories that I penned before playing the trial.
Trial: 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That is a PERFECTLY REASONABLE REACTION to a snuff film. All the new sprites we’re getting this chapter are so brutal, jeez... D:
... with the sole exception of hangover!Shuichi which must be protected at all costs.
Tumblr media
Kokichi is just going over all of the important parts of this evidence and Monokuma is not about it. Well you know, Monokuma, maybe if you had given us something to work with in the Monokuma file we wouldn’t be relying on good ol’ K over here!
Anyway, it just has play, record and pause... I was wondering if it had some sort of ‘speed up’ function to explain why the press suddenly went faster at that one point but apparently not, huh. I guess if pause/play was activated by accident or purpose it would make it seem artificially fast, like the way they cut frames in animation? that would be a lot of cut frames though, hm...
Anyway, hard to know if I should be questioning this or not but wow way to come in partway through the trial and throw up like an updated autopsy report. Who do you think you are, Miles Edgeworth? >3>
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Confirmation is a bitch.
Then... if I’m going to take this as is which, for now, I guess I should... then the suspect part is the act that Kaito just lay there, not moving, right? And the fact that the press went down with no problems (unless that’s why the press seemed to halt for a second)... doesn’t that mean he was already dead?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ryukishi07 is that you
Actually for that matter it could be Uchikoshi - his description of a certain 999 scene got pretty detailed. >>
Tumblr media
RIGHT?! There was nothing for him! He ended everything! The game was over, and I’m still sure he wasn’t the mastermind! The only thing I can think of is that it was an accident as a result of Kaito getting that crossbow and attacking him right under his nose! He knows if Kaito wound up dead he’d be the obvious culprit, and he’s made it incredibly clear that not only does he wanted to win the whole game, he has the intelligence to do it! Also the fact that he brought it here in the first place seems more like he’s making a point than confessing his guilt -
So... was it someone else? Or was it illness after all, and Kokichi taking advantage of the opportunity presented to him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... hoo boy.
Tumblr media
“You wrote ‘Kokichi Ouma killed Kaito Momota’ on the back of the exisal, you took a selfie with the press and uploaded it onto all of your social media counts with #oops #madeamess #galaxyprinthydraulicpress -”
Tumblr media
“Don’t you do it -”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“KOKICHI ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING TO PULL ANOTHER TRIAL 4 ON ME?!”
well actually I guess he’s ‘confessed’ like, 10 times to various things over many trials so who even knows anymore
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not that I think he killed Kaito, but I do wonder if he conspired with Monokuma at all to set up an ‘unknown victim’ trial and if he did, what the extent of that collaboration was. If he did, he just went out of his way to deliberately undermine Monokuma... again. There is definitely no love lost between those two, huh. 8′D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I DON’T BELIEVE YOU!!! also nice use of the word space there sob sob
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I CANNOT BELIEVE -
Tumblr media
“You don’t understand guys, I’ve played so many courtroom games and murder mystery visual novels. So many. I’m an authority on this sort of game-based killing stuff, believe you me!”
finally, a place where Shuichi and Tsumugi can coexist in peace
Tumblr media
.... BAH BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH IT BEING KOKICHI (in the exisal, not the killer obis) IS THAT IT MESSES WITH THE WHOLE ‘MAKI WAS AN ACCOMPLICE THEORY’ and I just can’t get around the fact that she had to have been involved somehow! But other than mercy-killing Kaito, I can’t think of a reason why she would do anything to hurt him - and she certainly wouldn’t leave his body to be messed with so terribly by Kokichi!
Tumblr media
Also, I’ve been treating her this whole time like she’s hiding Kaito actually being alive and that she’s pressing hard as Kokichi as an act but, unless my genuine-meter is off, she seems far too genuine about everything she’s said up to this point? Does she really think Kokichi is the one in the exisal, then?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
damn it Junko can’t you leave v3 alone even when you’ve been dead for hundreds of years
Tumblr media
LMAO
Oh shit he doesn’t know about Junko does he? Amazing. Wonderful. Fantastic.
Disclaimer here that I actually liked Junko as the villain of DR1 and I thought she had fantastic presence as well as a rocking’ cosplayable outfit but I really feel like she has no place here... though ugh, the fact that Monokuma exists is just something I can’t ignore, so I guess she was something that would need to be addressed down the line at some point. But not here, damn it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SWEETCHEEKS IS SO UPSET BY THIS IT’S AMAZING!!
Shuichi is finally stepping in to the protagonist!shoes long enough to curse out Kokichi or K or whoever it is in there for breaking classic mystery protocol.
Tumblr media
WHY DID YOU SHOEHORN JUNKO IN AT THE LAST MINUTE DAMN IT
Tumblr media
YES!!! GOOD!!! MY BOY IS TAKING CHARGE!!!
Tumblr media
.... Kokichi has some sort of plan, huh. Trying to ‘trap’ us. Shuichi isn’t wrong for sure - and this is a very ‘Kokichi’ thing to do...
Man, it’s really looking more and more unlikely that Kaito is in there, huh? disregarding the fact that we literally just watched a video of him being crushed to death Shuichi is right - there definitely is method behind the madness, and that’s exactly the problem - we got a brief glimpse of Kaito (SERIOUSLY WHY DID HIS VOICE COME OUT) but everything after has been all Kokichi, not just by voice but by personality, cadence, speech... even the way he’s presenting information to us. I’m not saying Kaito isn’t smart - I know the game keeps trying to present him as dumb at some points, via Kokichi himself sometimes, but I’ve never agreed with that at all - but is he capable of mimicking Kokichi to this degree? That would require an incredible insight  on who Kokichi is as a person, and while Kaito has been incredibly perceptive on an emotional level, this is pretty next-level, right?
And other than survival, what could Kaito gain from doing this?
Tumblr media
yes
Tumblr media
Shuichi it’s true and you should say it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is it bad that I wanted a new sprite of Shuichi grabbing the platform and just, leaning forward to yell, “SERIOUSLY?!” at the top of his lungs.
Tumblr media
togami on steroids
I’m feeling confused and lost and it’s fantastic.
If Kaito really is out of the running as the culprit, the game really seems to be pointing at Maki as an option? I don’t know how I feel about that - while it does seem to fit in a lot of ways it just... doesn’t feel right to me either? But then the only other options are Tsumugi, Himiko and K1-b0 and I really can’t imagine them being the right answer....
Kokichi is definitely not the culprit. I mean, there’s always that 1% chance I guess, but...
And Shuichi - well, we haven’t had any indications of them pulling a second Kaede, right? I swear I’ve been paying attention this time... ;A;
Tumblr media
Beatrice would be proud
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh good, finally something I actually know how to deal with! The footage shows him being crushed, but that doesn’t mean it’s the time of death...
Once again, I’m so glad Shuichi is on the same wavelength as me. 8′D
Tumblr media
Damn, it just switched to Maki standing quietly and staring daggers at us. Yikes.
Also it’s quite nice that K1-b0 can put his feelings about the press aside and stay on-point for this trial. 8′D I’m sure he’ll have a lot to say later, though - it can’t be nice to think you’re on the same level as a corpse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh thanks for showing us the video again, I really wanted to see that.
that acceleration is weird though! It’s really weird!!!
Tumblr media
Wait, really?! It’s not built-in? I thought if the sensor was disabled then the press would be too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know Shuichi’s thinking about this from an immediate defensive tactical POV (aka Kokichi being able to protect himself), but I imagine losing control over the exisals guarding Monokuma would be a huge blow to Kokichi, too.
Tumblr media
I do love the fact that he just casually throws in little comments to try and confuse the matter further. ‘D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mm, Maki, you really shouldn’t be bringing something like this up. weeeeh I thought the answer was ‘Kaito’s coat’ aka the hole in it but I was wrong boo it was the bloodstain on the floor
Tumblr media
Man it really seemed like it was lining up to match with Kokichi’s clothes...
Tumblr media
Wait why are you bringing that up??? You’re the one fighting for Kokichi being in the exisal!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THERE’S THE HOLE IN THE COAT!!! Finally!!! I’ve been anxious to get to the crossbow and poison - oh suddenly Himiko’s getting upset. Yeah... yeah, considering the fact that she brought the crossbow, I can see why.
Wait...
Sorry, stepping back for a sec. Komaeda’s death was ruled Nanami’s fault because she technically killed him via throwing the poisoned canister, right? So if Maki applied the poison to one of the crossbow bolts Himiko delivered but never fired it herself - in fact, if Kokichi fired back in self-defense after wrestling it from Kaito in a fight - would that make Kokichi the accidental culprit? Could... that be where this is going? Or is this going to be a ‘different game, different ruling’ type situation where Maki becomes the blackened for setting things up so that someone would die? I was wondering why it would just be one, but maybe the ‘small amount of poison was used’ is the key to that - she tried to use just enough that the difference wouldn’t be obvious in order to fool Shuichi (but, well, failed in that regard).
That... could be interesting, right? Maki sends Himiko with one of the bolts being poisoned, Kaito and Kokichi struggle over the crossbow, Kokichi accidentally uses one of the poisoned ones and Kaito dies despite Kokichi’s best efforts... (antidote search? maybe? but he doesn’t find it - and Kaito is weakened from disease already, so...) So in order to attempt to survive an unwinnable trial that he tried to prevent by cancelling the game, he throws one loop after another - obscuring the body’s identity but then showing up because he had no choice anyway, but still in an exisal, taping himself crushing Kaito’s body with the clue of him being absolutely still hidden in there but then giving the video to them anyway, and then leading them to the answer that he was ‘set up’ as the killer against his best efforts?
This could be a narratively satisfying way of ending his journey with Shuichi - “Please solve this last riddle here at the very end, dearest detective. It’s been a pleasure.” nothing wrong with throwing a bit of saiouma in here at the very end, right?
Tumblr media
Anyway while I was going off on a weird tangent Himiko created what may very well be the most terrifying non-lethal curse I’ve ever heard of in my entire life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gosh Himiko may actually be a worse liar than K1-b0 and that’s really saying something???
Tumblr media
“That’s right, Himiko, I’ve got your number right down to that really, really weird quirk of yours.” no seriously why is ‘Himiko has to go to the bathroom a lot’ a thing
Also Himiko I’m pretty sure you only delivered it, so why are you freaking out so badly???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe... I’m onto something with the revised theory...??? I don’t know why he would cover for anyone else???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Guys, I spent a whole trial hammering the importance of lies and truth as the theme of the game into your skulls and you’re just chucking that out the window because I was gone for a few days? Seriously?”
Tumblr media
It’s interesting that they’re bringing up being able to shoot Kaito from the outside because, I mean, the crossbow was found inside the hangar and I really don’t think it could have been tossed in through the window fully assembled, but I guess it’s a way to confuse the matter even further?
Tumblr media
Oh hey, you included yourself for once!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I  DON’T KNOW TSUMUGI, WEREN’T YOU THE ONE WHO COMMENTED ON ME BEING A TSUNDERE FOR KAITO EARLIER?! WHY WOULD I POSSIBLY BE ON EDGE?!”
Honestly though, she’s being incredibly vicious and, once again, I highly doubt it’s just because Shuichi accusing everyone, herself included. Even if Kaito is the victim...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I     S T A N D     O N     T H E     S I D E     O F     H O P E
Tumblr media
Kokichi chooses funny times to be helpful, huh. 8′D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU’RE ACTUALLY TERRIBLE AT THIS, HIMIKO
Tumblr media
DAMN GET WRECKED HIMIKO
also LMAO Kokichi just declared Himiko the culprit
never change, kiddo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO TRY AND THROW MAKI ‘I MURDER PEOPLE WITH A LOOK’ HARUKAWA UNDER THE BUS RIGHT NOW
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like being scared should be the least of your worries right now.
Tumblr media
You just want an Ace Attorney-style breakdown, don’t you???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AGAIN KOKICHI, PLEASE NEVER CHANGE
Tumblr media
~one of these things is not like the other~
Also the fact that Kokichi yelling about how he’s the most suspicious being the dialogue blocking the actual right answer is kind of amazing.
Tumblr media
“And please don’t ask him to prove it, I’m not really over the last time he printed something from his memory.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“AND ANOTHER THING! I wouldn’t even cosplay as you if you were a fictional character!”
“NOW YOU HAVE GONE TOO FAR - !”
this trial is tearing our family apart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, uh, did Shuichi just whip out the actual crossbow case or just a spare one he grabbed from Maki’s lab -
Tumblr media
Thank you for summing it up so succinctly, Tsumugi!
Tumblr media
That might be the longest one yet!
Tumblr media
I actually believe that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LMAO
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS WHOLE DISCUSSION IS AMAZING AND SHOULD BE WITNESSED, FULLY VOICED, IN ITS ENTIRETY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was worth messing up for this -
k1-b0, honey, you were doing so well and I believe you I swear -
Tumblr media
We’re starting to circle around the next big answer, methinks...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oooh man, you shouldn’t have talked about her like that earlier, Himiko!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AAAAAAAAAAW damn it okay that is actually really cute
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She sounds so sad, aaaaaah D:
Tumblr media
Implying that you aren’t lying about anything this trial? I don’t think so -
Tumblr media
- but with that said, how sweet of you to come to her aid like this when you could have also thrown her under the bus! You really are starting to come along, Maki!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
whispers why does Tsumugi voice my thoughts so often
But of course, we can’t avoid it. Someone asked Himiko to bring the crossbow there - I never was under the illusion that it was her idea. As for who it was that asked...
Tumblr media
Yeah, I thought so. I wonder if it was Shuichi’s talk with him that spurred him to make that request. As soon as he thought the others were going to stick their necks out for him he decided to make his own plan of action, huh...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m taking this random opportunity to address the fact that I adore this particular sprite of K1-b0′s which practically screams, “I am so sick of your human nonsense” or perhaps more specifically, “Kokichi, why are you the way you are -”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what is happening right now
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Het-ship potential? For Kokichi Ouma? The world must be endin - ohwait
TENKO IS ROLLING IN HER GRAVE RIGHT NOW
Tumblr media
I hate to put it in these terms, and I hope dearly that Shuichi doesn’t make the same connection as me, but does this not imply that Shuichi was catalyst leading to his close friend’s death for the second time?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man, I can hardly imagine the panic she was in when she saw Kaito’s sleeve amongst all that blood. She probably feels incredibly responsible, and from the point of view of someone who thinks Kokichi is the mastermind, the obvious conclusion to draw would have been, “Kaito tried to rebel against Kokichi and this is the result!” And it wouldn’t have been too hard to go to, “I’m going to punish everyone who helped him” for that matter...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, so it was definitely after Shuichi talked to Kaito. K1-b0 only caught her going into the hangar the second time though?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why in the world would you go there by yourself with the exisals wandering around? Kaito’s voice wouldn’t be able to reach you unless you were far into the hangar, so exactly what were you thinking???
Tumblr media
Just... why. Why.
Tumblr media
I’m so glad I have you here, Tsumugi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good. 8′\
I guess we’re not addressing why Himiko decided to take a nighttime stroll into the hangar before the request made then??? O... Okay???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man, if it turns out that Kokichi was actually able to disarm Kaito of the crossbow despite being shot twice, one time in the back, that would be pretty damn impressive.
Tumblr media
YOU ARE A LIAR, ‘K’-WHO-IS-MOST-LIKELY-KOKICHI-BUT-COULD-STILL-MAYBE-BE-KAITO!
Tumblr media
Wouldn’t it be funny if after all of this, Maki’s straightforward determination to hang this all up on Kokichi actually turned out to be correct? And by the time we all come around to point the finger at him, Kokichi is revealed to not be the mastermind or morally responsible despite accidentally killing Kaito and Maki ends up getting him killed like she always wanted, but at that point actually regrets it - and Kaito’s life is lost in the crossfire as well?
Oh did I say funny? I meant extremely fucked up and tragic, whoops.
I think the one thing that I can stand by until the end is the fact that Maki was responsible for the introduction of poison to this whole wild affair. The electrohammer is obvious, sure - but the poison? They’ve been dancing around that the way I thought they would have been dancing around other things this whole time.
Tumblr media
?!?!
Tumblr media
Yeah, what??? You’re supposed to be acting as the moderator, aren’t you?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ET TU MONOKUMA
FORGET THE WHOLE KOKICHI AND HIMIKO THING, CAN YOU PLEASE STOP PLAYING WITH MY HEART?!
Tumblr media
“INTERFERENCE!!!”
Tumblr media
It’s not like he called it off or anything when he visibly took the reins of the game OH WAIT....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
how dare you point out the issues I’ve been having without my consent, bear
Tumblr media
WHAT
NO HOW DARE YOU
AGAIN?!
Tumblr media
I’M LOSING MY DAMN MIND
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FUCK YOU K I’M GOING TO START CRYING ACTUAL TEARS
That’s it I hope Rantaro steps out of the exisal at the end of the trial and just ascends to the heavens without a word -
actually if it has a voice changer could you do anyone because that could be hella interesting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“There’s a bit of a situation going on” you are the most casual guy every -
Okay so if there’s a voice changer and DR isn’t going to pull out a whopper on us with both of them hiding in the exisal somehow, Kokichi is either having a hell of a time doing some low-key satire by portraying Kaito as the most relaxed, casual dude ever who thinks he can just handwave his mistakes via pure charisma, or Kaito is doing the most goddamn amazing Kokichi impression known to mankind and is also actually the Ultimate Improv Actor. The inflection difference alone between the two of them and the completely different way they address people - ‘Kaito’ has shown up briefly so it wouldn’t be too hard for Kokichi, but ‘Kokichi’ has been here for most of the trial and responded pretty effortlessly without slipping up once!
Tumblr media
Maki is Not Having this shit anymore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I-I THINK YOU JUST HIT HER BERSERK BUTTON
Also if it is Kokichi in there then, uh, yeah, point proven about needing to stay in the exisal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Damn it, both of them have a plausible reason as to why they can’t come out of the exisal!!! And yikes, I wonder if I underestimated the severity of his injury from his run in with the exisal at the end of the escape tunnel? He didn’t break his ankle or something, did he? That would explain why he would rely on a long-ranged weapon like a crossbow to fight Kokichi!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WILL DO! .....
....
oh
I... I had a brief, faint glimmer of hope but -
apparently choosing Kokichi as the answer to ‘who is the victim’ is the wrong choice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How terrifying would it be to have that gatling gun-style arm waving around behind your back while you’re forced to think on your feet... >> Shuichi, I don’t envy you for even a second.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really???? After all that, I thought... I really thought... we were leading into a flip of the script. Is - is it official then??? Man, was I just completely wrong the whole time then?
Tumblr media
Look Kai - uh, Kokichi, K, whoever, look. Look. I was confident. I had a whole damn chart and notes written out, and even managed to work out a decent motive to go along with it, one with enough heart to make Will H Wright proud. BUT IT WAS ALL FOR NAUGHT, APPARENTLY, BECAUSE I GUESS I FUCKED UP THIS TRIAL PRETTY BADLY FROM THE GET-GO.
Tumblr media
It.... It’s really saying that it’s Kaito, then....??? Damn....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My heart is actually aching for Shuichi right now. I understand he’s not literally in the audience POV, staring at the exisal behind his portrait with his voice encouraging him the way it always did in the last few trials - but maybe that’s what makes it worse for him?
Rather than standing at his side, ‘Kaito’ is behind him, where he can’t see him. Shuichi can imagine him though - imagine Kaito’s voice is actually coming from him, just outside of his peripheral vision, and Kaito is just about to clap him on the back and congratulate him on another well-made deduction. After the last trial, it’s so nice to have Kaito on his side again. They had finally just made up - !
..... but.

Warning for some mentions of sexual intimacy and also somewhat cp?.. the intimacy is not explicit by any means. however i go into detail on why their art is bad so just keep this in mind.
please consider reading this whole thing before jumping to a conclusion
(and im aware the screenshots above are somewhat out of context. this was going to be short but it isnt now)
hey! a deviantart user by the name of foxdragonlover drew nsfw art of spyro and cynder. there was some backlash and they had this to say. i really dont have nearly enough energy to read through this fucking novel of a post but i skimmed it. now please pay attanetion to these parts of the post.
“When i drew that picture of Spyro and Cynder, it came from a place of love and strong feelings. If someone draws art of those two as adults being more raw and wild, with the intent of just doing that as part of their story, that's normal!I can imagine Cynder growing into the type who is a little domineering in the sack, whilst Spyro would be more submissive and tender/attentive.These thoughts, through development and story when you treat characters as actual characters and not as pieces of meat, is fine.”
what theyre saying i that as long as they fleshed out the characters and dont just see them as moving pixels on a screen they have a right to draw porn of it because it’s “development”.
now please keep in mind that it has been said spyro in the original games is 12 years old.
Tumblr media
now although this doesnt tell us much. spyro is a child. he looks nothing like the other dragons in the game. hes closer in looks to the baby dragons in YotD that any of the elders. not to mention his voice is that of a child-teen. now yes. i understand that this is the original games.
“what about TLOS series you moron” you cry.
fear not. i have done some research on that as well.
in the first game of the legend of spyro series spyro is roughly 12 years old.
the wendy promotional toy that was released when the game was first out comes with a small tag that gives some insite into the characters of the TLOS series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now feel free to accuse me of editing these pictures. but you’ll see here that they are in fact real.
so what does this tell us? well.. not much i guess. however im not stopping here.
“yea yea spyro is 12. but stupid! he’s only 12 in the first game!”
alright. sure! youre correct in that spyro is 12 for the first game. however he is also twelve for the second. the second game happens almost immediatly after the first. meaning at most spyro is 13 for half of it. along side this, cynder is also the same age as him. same goes for sparx.
“well, but those arent DotD!”
You are correct! They arent! however they give us a clue on how old spyro, cynder and sparx are in the third game!
this comment on a game forum mentions that spyro is 15 in the third game.
“but lolbit you fuggin gnome! some dumb forum doesnt mean anything!”
Once again you are correct! it does not. however the poster on the forum is right. spyro is fifteen as per mentioned in this screenshot of the actual dialogue of the third game.
Tumblr media
hunter mention 3 years having passed. which would mean spyro, cynder and sparx are in fact 15. 15 is not an adult. You should not be depicting a minor in sexual situations EVER. you should not be “aging up” a character for nsfw art. and you ESPECIALLY should not be doing this when you are a 23 year old. dont believe me? their Furaffinity account specifies their age here! please be warned there is NSFW art on their account.
now im sure youre asking why im throwing such a fuss over this. well dear reader, fae/fox refuses to awknowledge that they did anything wrong and they continue to argue that “its okay if theyre mature and ive written a story for them”. that of course was paraphrasing. however here is their exact words on the matter. “But when you take young characters that you love inside and out, and develop their lives and their relationships, and mold them into more mature characters (based around the premise of human emotions and sentience), that's normal.Drawing those grown characters doing mature things is normal.Projecting real life stuff onto characters, whether they're canonically only ever shown as children or as adults while working through their story, is normal. There is so much worse to harp on. “
please keep in mind that no where in this paragraph here is it mentioned that the characters are adults. they are stated to be mature. however, maturity does not = age. it means your maturity mentally. spyro is extremelly mature for a 15 year old. he saves the world and handles the fact that he was plucked from his home before he was hatched and was raised by a family that was not his blood family even though he is still a child. a MINOR. cynder handles her corruption and the fact that she was used as a tool for an evil master as well as she can. she’s extremelly mature for her age. but again, she is only 15.
now of course im expecting that legendary comment of
“dumpass. theyre fictional. duhhhh. they aren’t real”
and to you my dear friend I have some links for you to read. i personally would never be able to sum it up in words the way these posts have. here are some links about why fiction does in fact = reality at times.(and thank you to Jade for allowing me to use their blog for these links!)
click here, here, here, and here
now that youre done reading those, im going to analize the post created by fox/fae and discuss some of the points they made.
the first part i analized earlier im going to bring back again for one more talk.
“When i drew that picture of Spyro and Cynder, it came from a place of love and strong feelings. If someone draws art of those two as adults being more raw and wild, with the intent of just doing that as part of their story, that's normal! I can imagine Cynder growing into the type who is a little domineering in the sack, whilst Spyro would be more submissive and tender/attentive.These thoughts, through development and story when you treat characters as actual characters and not as pieces of meat, is fine.”
lets break this apart.
“When i drew that picture of Spyro and Cynder, it came from a place of love and strong feelings. If someone draws art of those two as adults being more raw and wild, with the intent of just doing that as part of their story, that's normal! “.
it does not matter if it came from a place of love. what you’re literally saying is you had strong feelings to draw spyro and cynder having sex. thats the raw of it. and yes. it is normal and okay if you would like to draw two consenting adults in a time of intimacy. however you did not draw two adults. theyre children. minors.
“But when you take young characters that you love inside and out, and develop their lives and their relationships, and mold them into more mature characters (based around the premise of human emotions and sentience), that's normal.“
i already discussed the maturity thing. you have not yet called them adults. you said mature. which more or less translates to “im too scared to admit that i didnt age them up. theyre still minors in the picture”. this is scurting around the problem rather than addressing it. and no im not addressing the next part of the paragraph. no one asked your personal views on how tender and soft a literal minor would be during intercourse. and again. they are minors. the characters are portrayed as humanistic and sentient. and fae/fox agrees on that. that is one thing they are right for.
Tumblr media
however. that doesn’t erase all else that they’ve done. next.
“Someone even got mad that i hid the comments and acted like i hid the person who accused me only, but really i hid everyone's comment.Save for one from each of two of my friends, which were not hidden because i found them encouraging/interesting.Those are hidden now, though. I hid my comments, too, and part of me hiding that stuff helps protect 1. the commenter and secondly, i just hate looking at all of that sometimes.I counted and there are 20 hidden comments in my section. There will probably be more later. Do you know how embarrassing that is for me?I genuinely hate drama, but damn if i won't defend myself when i know my truth and someone challenges it. If it weren't for the nice things people said to me, i would just disable comments all together and wipe the slate clean, but i guess this has shown me i value the love i receive more than the hate, even if it leaves a scar on my work -- or even my attitude.”
hoo boy. alright.
“Someone even got mad that i hid the comments and acted like i hid the person who accused me only, but really i hid everyone's comment.Save for one from each of two of my friends, which were not hidden because i found them encouraging/interesting.Those are hidden now, though.”
alright. this is a blatant lie. they have blocked a decent amount of comments but they are lying when they say they only kepts up a few friends. not to mention they say they deleted those after. there are far more comments than 2 from a few friends.
Tumblr media
(its scribbled out cause you can actually see the art behind it. which is still nsfw)
“I hid my comments, too, and part of me hiding that stuff helps protect 1. the commenter and secondly, i just hate looking at all of that sometimes.I counted and there are 20 hidden comments in my section. There will probably be more later.”
although yes they did hide some of their comments in order to remove the whole chain its extremelly hard to believe that this is out of a place of safety for the commenter. because they left my comment up and allowed a friend of their to comment on it as well. along side this they blocked me so i couldn’t defend myself either.
Tumblr media
and now this isnt me jumping to a conclusion. my comment is from 10 hours ago. thats a lot of time to delete a comment.
“Do you know how embarrassing that is for me?I genuinely hate drama, but damn if i won't defend myself when i know my truth and someone challenges it. If it weren't for the nice things people said to me, i would just disable comments all together and wipe the slate clean, but i guess this has shown me i value the love i receive more than the hate, even if it leaves a scar on my work -- or even my attitude.”
this is a long one but i feel it fits together well enough to analize it all together. but ohhh man. it sure is embarassing to have to hide the comments that are accusing you of drawing CP huh? it really is embarassing? because you hate drama right?. listen. it doesnt matter if its embarassing to you. you drew nsfw art of child characters. and now youre upset that you have to go through and hide the comments of people calling you out for it. do you realize how outlandish that is? and oof. listen. the fact that you wanna “wipe the slate clean” and “disable comments” to hide from the fact that people are calling you out, rather than admitting this and deleting the piece shows that you are quick to hide and shove all of this under the rug rather than addressing it. and as for that last comment. listen... you sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling rather than addressing peoples concerns and listening to their criticism is not you valuing love over hate. its you refusing to awknowledge your misdoings and pretending youve done nothing wrong. thats a horrible mentality to have. and of course this is going to leave a scar on your work. you drew CP and refused to awknowledge it even after people brought it to your attention.
“I know in my heart of hearts what is right and what is wrong, i know what is justifiable and what isn't.I'm not sitting here trying to justify what i drew because i know it's not wrong, but i want it to be known that i am damn sad that someone who said they've "supported me for a few years" suddenly, over one picture they didn't like/didn't understand, chose to accuse me of basically drawing child pornography -- which is a major and very dangerous accusation, by the way, fought me over it, told me to "die mad," and then blocked me . If that were some random troll running by shitting on my art i'd be angry, but after some words i'd just block them and move on.But when a watcher or someone who has enjoyed my work just totally thrashes me or automatically loses faith in/respect for me, it hurts.Yes, it hurts!I'm not made of stone, i'm not used to this level of drama.I hate conflict. It hurts. But i once said i want to go far and wide with my passion, and that's gonna mean taking some low blows along the way. It's just something i have to learn to deal with like an adult.”
once again im going to go through this and explain why its... oh so wrong.
“I know in my heart of hearts what is right and what is wrong, i know what is justifiable and what isn't.I'm not sitting here trying to justify what i drew because i know it's not wrong “
you telling yourself you did nothing wrong and refusing to awknowledge peoples criticisms of you isnt you knowing in your “heart of hearts” that youre right. its you being ignorant to peoples concerns. and how do you know its not wrong? because you say so? because your friends say so? people have addressed this issue by giving you facts and explanations on why its wrong and you deleted these comments. that isnt right at all.
“but i want it to be known that i am damn sad that someone who said they've "supported me for a few years" suddenly, over one picture they didn't like/didn't understand, chose to accuse me of basically drawing child pornography -- which is a major and very dangerous accusation, by the way, fought me over it, told me to "die mad," and then blocked me . ”
Listen. these people who supported you are sad that you’re defending drawing CP. you arent the victim in this scenario. you have no right to be sad when you actively chose to draw this. it is all your doing that these people have removed their support for you. as have I. these people are not to blame because they are disgusted that you drew something like this. and we are aware this is dangerous and a major accusation. however it is true. what you have drawn, by definitions, is CP. and now i hate to be this person. but you deleted all the comments. so there really isnt proof of this. i hate to pull that card but honestly.. this is the definiton of “pics or it didn’t happen”
“If that were some random troll running by shitting on my art i'd be angry, but after some words i'd just block them and move on.But when a watcher or someone who has enjoyed my work just totally thrashes me or automatically loses faith in/respect for me, it hurts.Yes, it hurts!I'm not made of stone, i'm not used to this level of drama.I hate conflict.”
once again. you’re to blame for this. you are playing a pity card yet you drew ths. the whole “it hurts me too” arguement is null. It doesnt work. you drew the art and chose to defend it. you have no right to be upset when people voiced their concerns about it. and conflict wouldnt arise if you actually listened to peoples concerns about this rather than immediately blocking them and playing the victim card.
“It hurts. But i once said i want to go far and wide with my passion, and that's gonna mean taking some low blows along the way. It's just something i have to learn to deal with like an adult.”
first of all you dont need to get poetic here. you drew CP, got called out for it and then made a post crying about it all. and if your passion is drawing porn of spyro and cynder, children characetrs, then youre not a good person. and if you defending CP is really when youre going to act like an adult then you clearly have the wrong priorities.
“I'm not some perfect martyr out to try and prove i can't do any wrong.Hell those of you who watch my side account have seen my ass a LOT, and you've also seen me try to grow from it when i'm wrong.I should not have given that commenter the gratification of pissing me off so much, but it happened.I didn't exactly blow my top, but it's still something i ought to get a handle on because i know this won't be the last time someone harasses me.”
heres the thing. the only people who can vouch for you here are your followers who are defending your actions here. you can’t use your side account as an excuse of “ive grown as a person” when the account isnt public and no one has access to it other than those who you select to. and on the second part. listen. youre 23. youre over the legal age in the states and i believe everywhere else. youre a grown adult. and if you consider people saying “youre disgusting for drawing CP and defending it” as harassment then you truely do need to grow up. you shouldnt be praised for not freaking out at people for calling you out on this kind of stuff.
“As i told someone else who's barked at me, it would also be hella wrong if one character was an adult and was a child and i aged the child up so they could fuck.I HATE that shit. That to me is wrong and weird, but here they're the same age, as adults. To me, it's not weird.Honest to God the worst/weirdest age thing i ever got swept away by was ZaDr, and i've been thinking about that lately and am considering at some point going back and throwing in head canon and trying to make it better so that it isn't "nasty”. I've gotten smarter and wiser since then.So there's definitely some hypocritical material in my folders, too, and i'll go ahead and admit that.I was younger and stupider at the time, but trust me when i say i never have looked at a child character and thought of them sexually.Ever.It's wrong.”
alright first im going start by saying this is in reference to my comment. now when refering to someone, when youre trying to earn peoples pity and understanding, you shouldnt jump to insult them. i wasn’t barking aat you. i was addressing your behaviour. and now. this is the first spot youve addressed them being “adults” in your art. every other time you mention it you call them mature which is a cop out. its only when you’re finally addressing the exact issue that you start to state how you are depecting them as adults. which, aging up a character for porn is still wrong. (which i will explain a bit better after im done this). and also you arent to be praised for seeing that as wrong. thats a normal response. no one was asking if you see it as wrong. and most people assume that until stated otherwise, this is the norm. most people see that as disgusting.
now you say to you it isnt weird. listen. to you it isnt weird because its your art and you dont like being called out for drawing CP. do you see what im getting at? now also i dont know what you’re talkign about here so i wont address it incase i get the wrong impression and speak out of line, however you say you’ve never looked at a child character sexually. yet you drew cynder and spyro intimately. understand this. aging up a character doesnt mean you look at the character in a more adult light. it means you’re attempting to justify to youself and make yourself feel better and safer on the idea of the character having sex. which. is. wrong.
im not addressing the last two paragraphs on the journal as it is just them praising their followers for praising them, however i will address their comment ont their art piece.
“ And since apparently some people don't understand this, S/C are 18+ here.If anyone ever assumes i would draw children having sex, i swear to God... “
from what i can tell this was a saveface. they put this comment once they censored the piece. their fA has the piece as well and they dont address the age of the characters. which means that this was just added on to prevent them from the issues being addressed by commenters.
now from what i can tell. their AU doesnt really exist apart from some world building. i couldnt find a long detailed AU where the characters were aged up and lived a life. the only time ive found them mentioning the AU is when they talked about the art piece. whats that mean? it doesnt really exist. not publicly atleast. which means the “AU” could entirely just mean its an excuse to draw porn of the characters. now that last bit sounds like me picking for straws i understand. however it is  very possible. heres a post that explains why its not good to age up characters. (understand that im aware the post is discussing and age gap however it addresses some good points)
heres the post
now if you read it you’ll see this part.  “ aging up is taking two characters who would have an inappropriate relationship in canon, seeing their relationship as romantic, and then aging them up because you want some way for them to be together. and in that way you’re romanticizing a relationship between the two characters you saw in canon, and that’s not okay”. now i want oyu to pay attention to this part. “in that way you’re romanticizing a relationship between the two characters you saw in canon, and that’s not okay.”
you’re taking characters you saw in canon, and changing them to fit your view in a way that the public would deem okay. You’re taking something you saw in canon, in this case two children who seem at the most mildly puppy lovish (like a play ground crush), and you’re manipulating it so that you can view the canon relationship in a less taboo way. like i said earlier, aging up a character doesnt mean you look at the character in a more adult light. it means you’re attempting to justify to youself and make yourself feel better and safer on the idea of the character having sex. aging a character up doesn’t change the way you view them or their relationships. no matter how much you insist you are smarter than most and you really do view the character as an adult, you dont. thats bull.
now onto some smaller stuff that they didnt because wow. iconic i guess..
Tumblr media
although i usually block out names this is a gross mentality. the entire comment is disgusting. and at the end “i would love to see some more sexy spyro x cynder from you” solidifies it. not to mention that fae/fox is essentially encouraging it. saying they will continue to draw it. meaning they havent learned anything from this experience. youre 23 dude.
and now some abliesm
Tumblr media
“but lolbit you stupid bafoon. they didnt say anything themself. duuuhhh”
yes im aware. here they are saying it themself.
Tumblr media
ahh.. gotta love that... really gotta hammer in that sparkling personality of theirs.
TD;LR foxdragonlover on deviantart, FaeFierceVulpine on furaffinity and  onefiercefox here on tumblr drew cynder and spyro nsfw art (which classifies as CP) and then defended their art all the while blocking people who called them out for it. they claimed it featured 18 plus characters only after they were called out for it. they then made a post about it essentially crying about it and pinning the blame on those who called them out for it. They are a 23 year old. they’ve also said some abliest stuff and have just generally been nasty.
anyway i cant believe i did this. this post is huge and im so sorry. i didnt intend for it to be that big. i wanted to be as detailed as possible and make sure i touched on everything i could. now its 3 am and im tired. if anything looks wrong tell me and i’ll change it. i may address their comment to me later (the comment in the starting pictures). im outa energy

Blogging and Slogging
I’ve had this blog forever. I mean, maybe not forever forever, geologically speaking, but close enough in the internet world.
This started a fat bunch of years ago. I’m not even sure of the timeline anymore. 2014? 2013? Maybe. I know I still worked as the anti-theft guy for a large cable company at the time, and dabbled in riding the still-popular wave of blogging to great success. I know I had the blog before I found Michael R. Fletcher’s amazing novel, (it was once called 88 and has been since rereleased) Ghosts of Tomorrow, which was around 2014. (Addendum, 2013 for sure. And, oh boy, amateur hour blog at that time for sure…)
That, obviously, isn’t quite how it panned out. You see, the web is chock full of blogs, and maybe half of them (those not written for purely marketing reasons anyway) are by writers of other things besides blog posts. Fiction, non-fiction, talking away and posting away about this or that very important thing.
For a while there, I posted regularly enough. Some reviews, some interviews, some opinions. You know, generally screaming into the void. But that all fell away over time. What, exactly, could I add to the tsunami of writing blogs out there? I’m just some sarcastic git with some writing skill lost in an ocean of blogs, a single bobbing plastic bottle thrown this way and that in the sea of words that is/was the bloggosphere.
And, of course, blogging isn’t the great force it once was. The internet is nothing if not easily corrupted by the whims and will of those who want to make money advertising you their dumb crap. Clickbait articles, nonsense sites with ads above, below, to the left, to the right, in the middle, and all over the content you came to read. Websites that take 30 seconds to load on a 30 megabit connection due to autoplaying videos and fifteen CSS stylesheets layered one over another.
Really, look at the blogs or news sources you even bother reading now. I bet it has shrunk precipitously over the last few years. If you follow the writing world, maybe you read some of Chuck Wendig online, take a gander at John Scalzi, pop on over to Kristine Kathryn Rusch, the occasional updates from George R. R. Martin, and possibly watch Neil Gaiman do his amazing and eloquent thing on Tumblr. And I do read all those, and a few more (may I recommend File 770 for constant updates on the world of publishing, awards, authors, and fandom).
But the days when one followed dozens of blogs, interacting with the authors of those spaces via comments, getting updates on everything that interests you, is mostly a thing of the past. Hell, half the sites out there disabled comments a long, long time ago, and for good reason.
And in the last few years, I’ve published a few small things here and there, bits and bobs of fiction, as well as done grant writing, journalism, marketing copy, been involved in a brewery, a newspaper, an art gallery, moved a handful of times… Well, you get the idea.
Also, in that time, I’ve written my own work far less than I should have, let this blog languish in some cold purgatory, hardly touched my Patreon, and been sidetracked by numerous dead-end projects and things that have taken more of my attention than they should have.
Not to mention just how…wearing…three years at a tourist hot-spot like the brewery I worked in from its opening week until a few months before this post can be on your creativity. Sure, all work is like that to an extent, but honestly some jobs are more damaging than others.
When your job is to entertain, have full-on conversations, and pay 100% attention to dozens of people at once for ten hours a day, well, you ain’t coming home refreshed and ready to roll your face on the keyboard, that’s for sure. Hell, you can’t even escape to a back room, stock area, or kitchen for a breather. It’s you, three foot of bar depth, and people right there with nothing else to do but stare at you and ask what kind of wood the walls are made of, or if you have gluten free free-range fair trade sustainably farmed ethically sourced “ales, because I hate lagers.”
Obviously, that’s also a fat lardy can of excuses (and this is the curse of being human, one can believe they are in the right to be stymied and tired while at the same time realize they could do better if they got off their stupid ass and just did it at the same time).
Writers did their work during World War II. The Great Depression. Through imprisonment, through drug addiction, alcoholism, with kids, with sick family members, while battling figments of their imagination manifesting as sloppy squid-creatures slapping tentacles on the kitchen floor…
And here I am, boo-hooing like a small child who scraped their knee on gravel about some average, everyday life bullshit.
But again, even that isn’t true. Every one of us has our own little monsters nipping at our brains, tiny creatures sapping our will to do more. And it’s simply not good enough to compare our problems with another’s problems and declare ourselves weaker or stronger based on some relative metric of how well we think we (or someone else) is doing. Some things work for our makeup, our particular configuration in this world of infinite configurations, that don’t work for others. And their ways don’t work for us.
We are a combination of our parts, both more and less than the sum of those parts. Chemicals in our brains regulate mood, function, physical reactions, how we see and hear and interact with the world.
And those chemicals are encased in a skull riding a meat-machine with who-knows what strengths and weaknesses, things formed by physical maladies, stresses, what we eat, what we do.
So here we are, I suppose. All of us trying to do whatever it is we are trying to do. And here I am, back at this blog, a blog long since cleared of many of the old posts, written long enough ago as to be not what I want representing me anymore.
For any human-shaped meat-popsicles that remain watching this space, I’ll be posting on a regular basis to rant or rave or talk about what I’m doing. In part to talk to the world. In part to vent the thoughts rattling around in my head. In part because screaming into the void is, contrary to what they might tell you, an honorable and important thing to do. Hell, maybe even healthy.
And finally, I’ll be doing what I should have been doing all this time. Writing stories, getting them into people’s eyeballs. Fixing up and kicking the dust off the Patreon account, brushing the rust off the writing skillset, and seeing where this goofy damn thing takes me.

Fic commentary meme: "Origin"
Jack was not the happy baby his parents had dreamed of.
This line is supposed to set the tone for the rest of the fic. It’s written in the third person limited, nominally from his parents’ point of view, particularly his mother’s, but this is less to privilege their perspective than to damn them from their own mouths. Originally I had a version of this fic that was first person POV in Jack’s voice, interspersed with parts from various medical files from his childhood that he was finally getting access to, but I thought that people might write off Jack’s perspective as paranoid or irrational.
He was hard to please and when displeased he was impossible to calm. He once screamed so long and so hard that his mother thought that he must have meningitis or some other life threatening illness and if she didn’t get him to a doctor he’d die before the night was out.
The middle aged paediatrician she brought him to checked him over carefully and performed every test he could think of, but in the end pronounced him perfect and said that there was not a thing wrong with him.
A statement he would retract once Jack’s mother burst into tears and talked about a child that didn’t want to be held or kissed or dressed or washed, a child that didn’t play with his toys except to line them up by size and colour and shape and would shriek if someone tried to move them to play games with him. A child who didn’t smile even at eighteen months and didn’t seek out human faces and twisted away from eye contact. A child who still crawled and didn’t show any sign of walking any time soon. Who thrashed around and hit his head against the floor with worrying violence and then kicked and bit and clawed when his parents tried to stop him.
So, like, Jack was always disabled. I don’t buy the idea that people in the Star Trek universe who would illegally have their children genetically resequenced would be doing so to make super-children. I think, like in the case of Julian’s parents, it was much more usually common or garden variety ableism and a belief that their child was not what they expected and therefore was broken.
You can see Jack’s parents prioritising what they wanted from a child over what actually makes Jack happy. They want him to play with his toys a certain way, and to play socially with them, and their feelings are hurt when he starts to cry because they disrupt him playing the way he wants to play. They want him to gaze adoringly into their eyes, but he twists away from eye contact. They stressed him into melt downs multiple times a day and then boo-hooed about how their baby wasn’t happy.
Two years later, when the magic wand that first paediatrician had sworn did not exist had finally been found, Jack’s parents realised with a sinking dread that they’d done nothing but turn the child they’d jokingly called ‘the little dictator’ into a child with the highest recorded IQ his preschool had ever known of who nonetheless still wore diapers and got so angry he thrashed against floors banging his head while white with rage and hit and bit and scratched a number of the children and adults who tried to interact with him in a series of escalating incidents that ended with Jack’s mother in another doctor’s office tearfully talking about her son.
He was admitted the next day.
Again, rather than try to help him and understand him, they wanted a ‘magic wand’ solution that would give them the little boy they had dreamed of. But, when they find what they think will be their magic wand solution, Jack is still Jack. He still has developmental delays, he still gets easily overwhelmed and self injures, he’s just off the charts intelligent now. And it frightens them a little, because they see the melt downs coupled with the ~superior ability~ they’ve given him and see a little Khan waiting in the wings. And now that they see the ghost of a genocidal dictator inside him instead of the ghost of their ~real~ son, they institutionalise him. Aged three.
Of course, lol, my assumption that people would See What I Did There was perhaps a little innocent, because the first comment I ever got on this fic was about how it was a lovely tribute to parents with ‘difficult’ babies. asdfisadfa
