‘it’s just trendy to hate on marvel’ no. marvel has done this to themselves. they overwork underpaid and non unionized vfx artists, they don’t allow actors to have access to the full scripts, they gloat about continuity but don’t have consistency, very few of the writers care even slightly about the characters or the source material, and they have gone for quantity over quality / are overproducing their product to the point of consumer exhaust. they are a multi billion dollar creative monopoly that should be held accountable

Absolutely love that in Loki season 2 they blatantly make fun of Norse culture and say that the wooden Norse Odin, Baldr and Thor statue carvings are "dramatizations" and "highly insulting" and "glorified dioramas"
Real nice Disney real fucking nice/s /neg

There are zero reasons why Bruce's backstory could have never been acknowledged in the mcu. Especially after the Moon Knight adaptation.
Not one throwaway sentence. Heck, in Thor Ragnarok, Waititi didn't even read the comics and there's a deleted scene in which Bruce explains to Thor that he is upset that he couldn't be there for his father's death because he was obsessing over his experiments. It would have removed a significant part of his entire being.
And in the first episode of She-Hulk, they implied that he has DID. And then they never did anything with it ever again. And yes, it's about Jen in this series. But also, she had interactions with Emil and Matt. So yeah, another excuse gone.
I entirely refuse to believe that Rebecca is alive.
I somehow hope that the mcu stays as far away from the character as possible, I don't want them to do anything with Skaar. I don't want a Planet Hulk movie. They would butcher both and the tags would be filled with mcu stuff that the hulk fanbase does not care about.

marvel deciding to deal with mutants is gonna be a train wreck because if their reaction to seeing wanda, a romani jewish woman whose life experiences were shaped by her status of being a romani jewish woman, was to go “white nazi who commits crimes against humanity in every installment she’s in woooooooo!!!!”, then i absolutely do not trust them to handle any storyline about oppression, especially considering how allegorical the x-men stuff tends to be for real world oppression and bigotry

I love that many fanartists and fans have taken to pointedly showcasing Wanda’s Romani heritage online and won’t let mcu wendy fans silence their love for Wanda Maximoff.
It sucks I still see those wendy fans harassing people who just want to enjoy Wanda apart from the mcu portrayal bc they feel SO threatened by the fact people don’t like/care about Olsen.
I just hope we keep this energy up and also extend it to Pietro as well.
Edit: AND VICTOR VON DOOM AS WELL.

I know this is a hot take . . . but I'm getting more and more angry at how the MCU treats it's female characters, but today i'm talking about natasha. I haven't finished all of season 2 of What If . . . but I can see that some characters really didn't get as much screentime and take a WILD GUESS . . . Nat is one of them. Come on Marvel. She's a badass with awesome stories of her own. She's so much more than . . . whatever the hell you guys are putting out.

The people already talking shit on S2 because Sylvie is working in a McDonald’s, saying that doesn’t make sense and that is ruining more parts of Loki because ‘a Norse God wouldn’t work there’ are so fucking boring, thank God they aren’t involved in the show. I hope to see Sylvie happily flipping her burgers and punching the ice cream machine.
"a NoRsE gOd WoUlDnT dO tHaT" well lucky for them, Sylvie doesn't remember anything about being a Norse god! she is but a smol bundle of rage and desperation who wanted a snack and found a job instead, and I for one respect our minimum wage employee Sylvie 🙏

Plz i need someone to tell me im overreacting abt the loki finale. I haven't been this mad since this movie i saw five years ago in November.
I mean, idk exactly how you're reacting. It's normal to be mad about a piece of fiction where you really don't like the ending or choices that were made. Like, that is a completely normal thing, anon. I was mad at LOST for years (I still kind of am, ngl). I definitely have some anger toward the MCU, though it's outweighed by the grief I feel for what I see as its truly stellar implosion. So like, if you're just feeling angry, that's normal.
If you're harassing other fans, or trying to change their minds when they've given no indication that they're up for debate about this, or going on public rants about how stupid people are for liking it (public as in, tagging it to make sure fans see it), that's an overreaction. If you're losing sleep or getting so upset about it that it's affecting your day-to-day functioning, that's overreacting. Or even like, thinking about it so constantly that you're stuck in a semi-permanent enraged state. If you're doing that stuff, you should stop! It's not healthy for YOU, first and foremost.

Now I still not gonna watch the series but I want to talk about this anyways.
Tumblr media
The fact the entire Loki fandom think that this is shot of different lokis is hilarious to me. Because come on? It's very obvious people, this is Loki using doublication casting 💀.
I'm willing to bet this would just be another "hahaha look at loki isn't he such a loser?" moment instead of Loki being cool. I hope I'm wrong but I know I won't.

I think there's a lot of factors that has led to the overall downfall of the mcu, from consumer fatigue to the shoddy cgi ununionized vfx workers were forced to grind out to incohesive plotlines, but the one that I think alienated the fans the most was the writing -- specifically by people who genuinely disliked the source material characters and stories they were writing about. how many times can you watch yet another one of your favorites be ruined? do something so wildly out of character it hurts? there was a shift post infinity war. to put fan servicing ahead of good writing. to stuff everything with cameos. make gif & memeable scenes. to treat characters like playing dolls -- where nothing felt like them except their face. sad tbh

It’s been a whole eight years and I am still seething over the fact that people harp on “Captain America dropped a building on a 14-15 year old” and no one ever asks “Why was the 14-15 year old IN GERMANY IN THE FIRST PLACE?”

Okay... okay okay this is going to sound harsh, but MY GOD this is just so bizarre and sad at this point.
I saw a gif from season 2 of "What If...?" (which I'm not watching), and there was one of Peggy saying to Steve "We never get our happy ending." GIRL. 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
You and Steve GOT your (forced) happy ending in Endgame!! What are you TALKING about?????? Like gd the MCU continues to shove down our throats that Steve and Peggy are the fucking bees knees, and have to be together or else!!
Honestly, for me, Endgame soured me on Steve and Peggy. I was fine with them before that, but this is now the third time at least that the MCU has beat us over the head about how super duper special Steve and Peggy are as a couple. Endgame already No Homo'd Steve and Bucky so hard, but good grief. Give it a rest because this is just kinda pathetic at this point, and I don't even keep up with the MCU anymore.

there’s this weird shit die hard mcu stans do when people beg for, like, appropriate representation of characters where they start talking about how “marvel won’t cast an unknown to play [x]!!” and i’m just like? why not? they’ve done it before?
being in the mcu has singlehandedly vaulted multiple people into worldwide name recognition. they’d all been in movies before but tom holland, anthony mackie, chris hemsworth, mark ruffalo, hayley atwell, jeremy renner, tom hiddleston, even elizabeth olsen herself in all her slur saying glory only became as universally recognized as they did because they were cast in the mcu. actors like chris pratt and zendaya and chris evans and sebastian stan had followings already from semi-popular media, but nothing near the level of popularity they got once they were in the mcu (yes even zendaya and sebastian stan, homecoming was her first feature film role and all she’d done at that point was disney channel, sebastian had a niche following for being hot and having been on gossip girl but that was it).
i mean hell, the mcu is BUILT on casting unknown or shaky quantities, it’s literally what helped reboot rdj’s career after his substance abuse issues and favreau had to fight really hard to be allowed to cast him as tony. out of the original avengers, the only cast member who didn’t end up getting a huge boost in popularity and brand recognition from those movies was scarlett johansson because she was already at that level.
so YES, marvel casting unknowns or niche actors isn’t unheard of, they SHOULD continue casting unknowns because hollywood cycling through the same five actors twice a year is going to get really old and really annoying very fast, and while casting those unknowns, it’s entirely fair for people to ask that the casting be, ya know, appropriate and representative of the ethnicity and race of the character they’re playing (like casting an afro-latina to play an afro-latina or casting a romani woman to play a romani woman lizzie)
