(aaron hotchner x reader)

warnings: angst that leads to fluff at the end.

summary: aaron has a tendency to be overprotective when you're in the field. i mean, he's your boyfriend and he's your boss. what happens when you finally decide to call him out on it?

you had gotten hurt a few weeks ago in the field. although your boyfriend being your boss had its perks, it also had its downs. one of them being, he had no problem with calling you out in front of the team.

"y/n, you're not going this time. i want you to stay here and help garcia" you weren't happy with his answer, but you didn't want to start a fight with everyone around.

after everyone started to get their go bags ready, that is when you had the problem. you followed him into his office and spoke a soft, "you're making the wrong decision, aaron."

he stopped what he was doing to look up at you. "what?" he asked.

"im perfectly fine to go into the field. it happened weeks ago, i've been cleared. the only one not ready for me to start working again is you." you argued, your fists balled at your sides. "just because you're my boyfriend now doesn't mean you can underestimate me."

he sighed, sitting down. he knew you were right. he hated it, but he knew. you walked toward him and sat down on his lap. he placed a kiss on your shoulder before mumbling, "im just trying to keep you safe."

"i know that, baby." you took a deep breath and tried to reason. "if it were before we started going out you wouldn't bat an eye at me going into the field. i understand that you're scared, but im not scared. i've been cleared by a doctor, im ready. plus, you'll be right there to protect me. like you always do."

he then buried his head in your shoulder. "i know."

"aaron baby, look at me." you requested and after he looked down into your eyes you continued, "i love you, i do. i also understand where you're coming from, because if roles were reversed i would do the exact same. im just asking you to not think like my boss right now and not my boyfriend. alright?"

after getting a nod in agreement you also got a, "i love you."

"i love you more, aaron." you moved away from him, standing up but getting held back.

"kiss?" he whispered. after you happily obliged he said, "wheels up in fifteen."
