Persephone: If you had to choose between Hermes and all the money I have in my wallet, which would you choose?
Thanatos: That depends, how much money are we talking about
Hermes: Thanatos!
Persephone: 63 cents.
Thanatos: …I’ll take the money.
Hermes: THANATOS!!!

Persephone: Hades! Hermes and Thanatos are fighting again!
Hades: *groans like the tired father he is* Not again.
Hades: Every week they do this! Why do I have to handle it? When did they become my children?
Persephone: *amused*
Hades: At least the other children are behaving, right?
Melinoe: *about to cause chaos with the new magic Hecate taught her* Yes, of course.
Zagreus: *learning how to blood bend* We're always behaving.

Hey, could you do Hermes x Thanatos with the prompt “We could get arrested for this”? I'm like really fixated on this ship right now and offended at how it barley exists.
Hi anon! Thanks for your ask! I had a lot of fun writing this :). I kinda went with a modern/human au. Hope you like it!
You stole my heart
Hermes sat crouched on top of the roof, staring at the neighbouring house with binoculars. Thanatos was sitting next to him, leaning against the railing of the roof.
“They are getting in the car,” Hermes whispered. “The house should be empty soon.”
Thanatos sighed and turned around, also looking at the house. The house was more like a villa, owned by one of the richest people in town. Their cars were also way too expensive for the poorly constructed gravel roads.
The revving of an engine resonated through the silent street, the headlights lighting up the dark night. As the sound of the engine faded away, Hermes got up.
“Come on, pretty boy,” Hermes said, wiping roof gravel off his knees. “Showtime.”
“I still don’t know how you talked me into this,” Thanatos murmured as he got up.
“You fell for my charm,” Hermes winked, pecking Thanatos on the cheek. “And my puppy-eyes.”
“I fell for those a long time ago, love,” Thanatos said, taking hold of Hermes’ hand.
Hermes grinned. Even in the dark, Thanatos could see the sparkles in his eyes. Hermes stepped closer to Thanatos and kissed him. Thanatos sunk into the kiss, wrapping his free arm around Hermes’ waist.
“Come on,” Hermes smirked as they broke apart. “Time to steal from the rich.”
Thanatos rolled his eyes, but he couldn’t help the smile at his boyfriend. Hermes led Thanatos to the corner of the roof. In a smooth swing, Hermes jumped over the roof railing and grabbed the drainpipe. He slid down, landing on the stone pavement of the sidewalk below.
Thanatos climbed onto the railing and jumped onto the fire escape below. He ran down the stairs, taking four steps at a time. At the end of the platform, he jumped off and landed on the sidewalk next to Hermes.
“The fence is electric,” Hermes whispered. “But there is a gap where the bushes are.”
“You mean the rose bushes?” Thanatos asked.
Hermes just smirked and ran over to the bushes. Thanatos shook his head as he ran after him. Hermes sneaked through a small gap between two bushes. Thanatos tried to follow him but got caught on one of the branches. He cursed as he yanked his sleeve loose, slicing open his arm.
Thanatos cradled his bleeding arm as he came to stand next to Hermes.
“What now?” Thanatos asked.
“The guy’s bedroom window is right above us,” Hermes whispered. “If we climb up the drainpipe, we can break the window and get in.”
“Whatever you say,” Thanatos mumbled. “You’re the kleptomaniac.”
Hermes winked at Thanatos and walked over to the drainpipe.
“You love me anyways,” Hermes said, as he began to climb the pipe.
“Adorable bastard,” Thanatos grumbled.
Thanatos followed Hermes, climbing the drainpipe as well. Hermes pulled a tiny crowbar out of his pocket. He smashed the window and climbed inside. Thanatos followed Hermes, climbing through the smashed window as well. Hermes was already rummaging through piles of clothes.
“We could get arrested for this,” Thanatos voiced.
“Stealing from a thief is not stealing,” Hermes said. “I’m just taking my stuff back.”
“What about breaking and entering?” Thanatos argued.
“If you don’t get caught, you didn’t commit the crime,” Hermes said, moving on to a different pile.
“That’s your worst reasoning so far,” Thanatos said. “Why do you want this jacket back so much anyway? You have a hundred different ones at home.”
“It’s not about the jacket, Than,” Hermes said, looking up at Thanatos. “It’s about my honour as a thief.”
“And there is something in the pocket that I want back,” Hermes muttered as he turned his attention back to the pile.
Thanatos rolled his eyes and looked at his arm. Blood was starting to soak through the fabric of his sleeve. Suddenly Hermes looked up.
“Got it,” Hermes beamed as he held up the jacket.
“Well we better hurry,” Thanatos said, looking out of the window. Red and blue lights lit up the street. “The cops are coming.”
“Fuck,” Hermes said, as he came to stand next to Thanatos.
Hermes jumped out of the window, swinging down the drainpipe and landing on the grass below. Thanatos climbed through the window, avoiding cutting himself more on the glass. He grabbed the drainpipe and slid down. Hermes had already disappeared through the bushes.
Thanatos jumped onto the grass and hurried after Hermes through the bushes. Thorns cut open his skin more. Hermes was waiting on the pavement. Once Thanatos was through the bushes, Hermes grabbed his hand and they ran away.
Thanatos leaned against the wall of the alleyway, trying to catch his breath. Hermes danced around him, cheery as ever.
“That was awesome!” Hermes laughed. “We should do this more!”
“No,” Thanatos panted. “I love you, but we’re not doing this again.”
Hermes pouted, standing still in front of Thanatos. Hermes had bound the jacket around his waist.
“Is the thing you wanted back still in the pocket anyway?” Thanatos asked.
“Yup,” Hermes said, as he felt the pocket. “It’s still there.”
“What even is this thing that we just risked our lives for?” Thanatos asked, looking Hermes in the eyes.
Hermes sighed, looking down at Thanatos’ chest. He slowly pulled out the thing from his pocket.
“I was hoping to do this somewhere nicer than a dark alleyway after we just escaped the police. But,” Hermes said as he handed the thing -a tiny box- to Thanatos. “Will you be my partner in crime forever?”
Thanatos opened the little box and was shocked. Inside was the most beautiful ring he had ever seen. He looked up at Hermes.
“Did you just propose to me?” Thanatos asked in shock.
Hermes softly nodded. A smile broke open Thanatos’ face and he kissed Hermes, pulling him closer.
“A thousand times yes,” Thanatos whispered as he pulled away.
Hermes smiled widely and kissed Thanatos again. Only when they ran out of breath, did they pull away. Hermes gently took the box from Thanatos, sliding the ring onto Thanatos’ ringfinger. Thanatos stared at the ring in awe.
“Do you now understand why I wanted that jacket back?” Hermes whispered.
“Yes,” Thanatos replied softly. “For this I don’t mind escaping the police.”
Hermes smiled and pulled Thanatos even closer.
“We do have to talk about the fact that you just proposed to me in a dark alleyway,” Thanatos chuckled.
“Nah,” Hermes said, smiling. “I think it was pretty perfect.”
“It was,” Thanatos whispered and he kissed Hermes again.

thinking about spy for olympus hermes again and how hades catches him and how hermes is prepared to be sent out, prepared to lie through his teeth so he doesn't get in trouble with his father for being caught and how hades frowns at the idea of hermes thinking he's going to be let go because why would he when hermes could get in trouble for it and "you ate the fruit, didn't you" "...yes" "then ask yourself, why would i risk the suffering of something that's mine?"

Having a Wood Nymph S/O
FANDOM: Hades
Character(s): Hermes, Hypnos, Thanatos
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): I already kind of did Zagreus with a Nymph Here but I'll happily write the rest!!
Tumblr media
Hermes
With Hermes being as fast as he is, he's able to visit you quite a bit in your little forest.
It's nice to take a moment and just relax with you in nature. And a moment is a very long time for him considering he can get from place to place in seconds.
Would bring you different flowers and such from other locations when he could.
Just because he thinks you'd enjoy seeing different forms of nature from different biomes.
Hypnos
He's definitely the type of boyfriend to talk about you all the time to everyone.
He's typically stuck working in the Underworld, but that just means everyone there can hear him talk about how he can't wait to get back to you.
Loves to just lay in a nice meadow patch with you and talk to you about the different shades or Zagreus's attempts to escape but probably ends up nodding off due to how relaxing it all is.
It really does give him a nice area of peace and quiet where he can just relax and nap with you. Has probably tried taking flowers you've given him back to the Underworld, only to pout if they don't survive the journey.
Thanatos
Thanatos is also always busy with gathering the souls of the dead to send to Charon.
So when he gets a moment to be with you, it's a nice moment to relax and take a load off with all the crap he deals with.
Was definitely a bit uncomfortable at first with being in your meadow or forest.
Just because he deals with so much death and felt that he was tainting all the life that you care for.

Hades: Hermes, that’s disgusting. You’re only giving free stuff to beautiful people.
Thanatos: Yeah, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Hermes: Oh yeah? *gets really close to Thanatos* How about a muffin on the house baby?
Thanatos,*giggling*: I’m pretty.

even if it's a lie
Thanatos x Zagreus | Modern AU | Chapter 6 | AO3
They stop for coffee and bougatsa, Zagreus’s first breakfast out with his fiancé, though he doesn’t say it to Than. They are in a hurry, and if Thanatos has to run off to disappear, he might be late for work, which would not set a good precedent for their married life. Zagreus is going to be a good, low-maintenance husband. This is his plan.
“If Charon knows why we’re coming,” Zagreus asks, “Does that mean he knows we’re getting married?”
“He does.”
“But does he think we’re getting married for real?”
“We are getting married for real.”
“Right, yeah, of course.” And he knew that, he knows it’s a real, legitimate, legal if dubiously fraudulent marriage, but it’s also a visa marriage to his best friend, which is not exactly what people assume when they hear marriage. He tries again. “But does he know… why? I mean should we—” he waves his hands in the air “—you know… act lovey-dovey?”
Thanatos snorts. “It’s Charon. He doesn’t care.”
Fair point. That’s all simple enough, then. Zagreus has no doubt he could feign romantic affection for Thanatos all day long, but Thanatos would probably rather light his own feet on fire. He’s not much for lying.
It is not just Charon waiting for them at the docks. He sits on a stone wall, smoking a joint next to a smiling man who waves very happily at their arrival. Thanatos’s feet stick to the pathway, and Zagreus isn’t sure what to do.
“You must be my cousin,” the stranger calls over to Zagreus, and this seems to snap Thanatos out of it, because he has already set his coffee on the wall to sign at Charon, “What the fuck?”
“It’s fine,” the alleged cousin cuts in, “I’m not going to tell anyone you’re here. That’s your business. I’m Hermes. Immigration is my business, among other things. Now let’s see about that passport.”
Charon ignores Thanatos’s death glares to nod at Zagreus. “Go ahead,” he signs.
Thanatos grabs Charon’s arm and drags him to the side as Zagreus digs his passport out of his pocket. “You’re really my cousin?” Zagreus asks.
“I am your father’s brother’s son, yeah, one of many,” he replies. “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you for ages. When Thanatos texted last night, I couldn’t resist. Charon said he’d blow a gasket, though. Didn’t disappoint. Looks like his head will pop right off if he doesn’t let out some steam.”
“You were with Charon on the boat?” He looks over at the Psychopomp and notes the plaque affixed to it. Charon & Hermes, LLC. “How did I not know that one of my cousins was living with Thanatos’s brother on a boat?” Zagreus asks. “That seems like something I should have known.”
“Like I said, or maybe I didn’t say, I’m good at secrets. Comes with the territory. Very useful in our family.” He waves Zagreus’s passport in the air. “Thanks for this, coz, I’ll get it back to you in two days. Better get your number, just in case.”
Zagreus nods, passing Hermes his phone while trying to watch the conversation between Thanatos, whose shoulders are so tense they have practically reached his ears, and Charon, who is leaning against a light post. He winks at Zagreus when he catches his eye.
“Does Hades really not know?” Thanatos is asking.
“He thinks Zagreus is traveling. Someone left travel books all over his room. He thinks he’ll come home when he runs out of money. Or gets arrested.”
Zagreus rolls his eyes, but it’s nice to know that part of the plan worked. He can add master of misdirection to his many useless talents.
“You sign?” Hermes asks.
“I did grow up with them.”
He wasn’t as good at it as they were. His father didn’t understand, and Zagreus caught on quickly he could talk freely in front of him as long as he did it with his hands. That didn’t last long—Hades caught on quickly he could knock Zagreus’s hands right out of the air. After a while, Charon said he signed with the equivalent of a stutter, and that was when he really gave up and just started talking with his voice.
Thanatos moves his body so that Zagreus can’t see what he’s saying now. He catches the odd snippet from Charon, though.
No—idiotic—why?—No
Charon pushes past Thanatos and says to Zagreus, “Congrats on the nuptials. Sorry you don’t have better taste.”
“Thanks, Charon, mate, but what else was I to do when you had already apparently settled in with my cousin?”

Luke x Thanatos!daughter reader? like maybe she was wings and Luke finally sees them. (headcanons, fluff, or smut. your choice.)
🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥
luke castellan x thanatos!reader
i think this is such a cool concept! luke is not the type of guy to shy away from darkness so let’s dive into it: some about you, some about the relationship yall would have
about you
you’re not scared of death at all, since it would mean being with your father—you’re very headstrong and daring
i think people would think the worst of demigods associated with death, but in reality there’s a softer side to you, one that holds a dying squirrel until it passes safely, or sings an injured camper to sleep on the battlefield so that your dad can carry them to the afterlife; i feel like you’d be able to take away their pain as well
you’d probably be able to have the same transportation powers your dad has, flickering into a shadow to travel or something cool like that
maybe on an actual scarier level, you’d have control over someone’s lifeforce through shadows like in peter pan
you’re a bit of a lurker, but not in a creepy sense—you have a calming presence to you that helps people feel at ease no matter the situation
you can sense when someone’s about to die like it’s a bad taste in your mouth or goosebumps on your skin
if you were trying to hide your wings to try not to stand out (because teens are teens and its easier to try to fit in) i wonder if wings would feel like growing pains, or like they’re trying to escape from under your skin; i would hope they’re more comfortable to have out though! gorgeous and huge like that of an angel
you and luke:
yall are literally ride or dies. literally where one goes the other follows because death is not the end for the two of you
i think he’d think your wings are sick (and sexy but hey…) you flying around with him trying to follow you in his shoes he got from his dad could create some crazy situations if you know what i mean
you two would race across the sky at camp and meet at the top of half-blood hill <3
you can tame luke’s anger well since you’re a true chaotic neutral, by just holding his hand his rage is contained
he always encourages you to be your truest self and spread your wings (literally) who cares if someone tries to pick on you for how big they are or how scary you look they should be more scared of him because he’ll start a fight for it (luke is your scary dog privilege)
luke has very fidgety hands as a son of hermes so i think you’d always catch him stroking the feathers of your wings absentmindedly
everything is attainable when you two are together, you make him understand the balance of life and death as your father did to you—this may or may not sway his decision to become a human vessel, but you’d be with him through it all

show!Luke Castellan x daughter of thanatos!reader
DISCLAIMER: I don’t own the image above or any of Rick Riordan’s characters/world-building.
⚠️Warnings⚠️: mentions of death, crying, sadness, physical pain, and parental neglect
A/N: i deeply apologize, i felt i needed to set up more context and establish Luke and readers relationship more before getting to capture the flag, i PROMISE it’ll be in this next chapter or the one after that💕
“Castellan!”
Sixteen-year-old Luke’s head snapped up abruptly to see his brother, Connor Stoll running towards him frantically. If Connor, who was usually lighthearted and cheerful, was panicked, something was really wrong.
“What’s going on?” Luke stood up, abandoning the art project he was helping a younger camper with. “Is someone hurt?”
“I-I’m not sure. I just heard a girl screaming in the woods, and calling for your help.”
Luke’s skin went cold. He knew exactly who was in trouble.
The only child of Thanatos, his best friend.
Connor beckoned for Luke to follow him. The two sons of Hermes sprinted towards the woods, trying to conceal their fear.
Luke’s heart pounded aggressively in his chest. He couldn’t bear to lose another loved one, it would destroy him.
Finally, Connor came to a halt and pointed into the trees. “She’s that way.”
“Thank you,” Luke said breathlessly. Running through the woods and ignoring the stares of the nymphs, he strained to hear anything that could lead him to you.
Then, he heard a muffled sob coming from a nearby clearing.
Cutting the stray branches aside with Backbiter, Luke practically flew through the trees until he spotted you, kneeling on the ground.
He froze. You were weeping, holding your face in your hands. Your body trembled, but he couldn’t tell if it was from sadness or fear. You hardly ever cried, you were a mellow person for the most part and rarely had emotional outbursts, so seeing you like this worried him immensely.
But most shockingly, you had black wings protruding from your back.
They didn’t look like bird wings. They had the shape of angel wings, but instead of feathers, they were made of black smoke that swirled gently and occasionally omitted wisps into the air.
“W-Wh-“ Luke stammered, struggling to find words. “How?”
“I don’t know!” you cried, refusing to look at him. “They just…started appearing. It felt like someone was digging hot knives into my shoulder blades. I ran out here so that nobody would notice them, but then Connor found me.”
Your best friend knelt down in front of you, gently uncovering your face by taking your hands in his gently. His hands were calloused and rough, thanks to years of rigorous training. But they were comforting nonetheless.
“Are they still hurting?” he asked, instinctively checking your pulse by pressing your wrist carefully.
“No…I’m just scared, Luke. I don’t understand what’s going on,” you said, feeling your intrusive thoughts spill out. “What if they don’t go away? What will everyone think of me?”
Luke sighed. “If they don’t go away, it’ll just be another thing that makes you you. And it doesn’t define you, or take away from the person you already are. If other people can’t look past your new features, they’re fucking idiots who aren’t worth your attention anyways.”
“But…I feel like a monster. And even worse, I look even more like my father. He has wings too, I’ve read enough about him to know that for sure. I don’t want anything to do with him, why did he make this happen to me?”
“I don’t know why it happened,” Luke said honestly. “We can talk to Chiron and see if he has any advice. He won’t judge you, you know that. And I promise you’ll always have me. I’ll be your friend, whether you have wings or not.”
Wiping away your tears, you felt the painful feeling in your chest begin to subside. Knowing that he didn’t see you any differently despite this new development settled your nerves, at least a little. Sure, the other campers may see you as monstrous, as a terrifying mutation that needed to be avoided at all costs. All of the new friends you’d made over the past couple years may leave you, but you would survive.
At least you had Luke.
Your Luke.
________________________________________________
After calming down, Luke lead you to Chiron’s office in The Big House. Luckily, the rest of the campers were at lunch, and nobody saw your very noticeable new features.
Chiron wasn’t nearly as surprised as Luke had been concerning your wings. “I suspected that they would appear around this time,” he said. “Your father has passed down yet another one of his gifts to you.”
You certainly didn’t seen the wings as a gift. They were a curse, yet another thing that made you appear monstrous compared to other demigods.
“So, are they just there forever now?” you asked, fighting down the bitterness in your voice.
Chiron thought for a moment. “Wish them to go away, and see what happens.”
You rolled your eyes. “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“Just try,” Chiron insisted. “Your willpower is more powerful than you know.”
Relenting, you shut your eyes, focusing on your disdain for your wings. Desperation and frustration overtook your thoughts, and you felt your head begin to throb painfully.
Thankfully, the sound of Luke calling your name snapped you out of it.
“They’re gone,” Chiron’s low voice declared.
Sighing in relief, you opened your eyes and looked at the centaur standing before you.
“I advise you to spend time learning to control your new features,” he said. “You must discover the extent of the abilities they give you. Otherwise, they may pose a threat to your safety, as well as the well-being of the other campers.”
You nodded, despite the feeling of dread creeping over you. “I will. But I may miss some camp activities for the next few days.”
“That’s alright,” Chiron said. “I’ll let Mr. D know that you are caring for yourself, and need adequate time to do so.”
“I’ll accompany you,” Luke said immediately. You shook your head.
“You have responsibilities, Luke. Who else is going to run sparring classes for the younger campers? Who else is going to make sure the Hermes kids attend archery practice and don’t set a fire somewhere?”
“I’ll have Chris take over,” he said. “He can handle it.”
“But-“
“I’m not changing my mind,” Luke said firmly. “I’m helping you, and that’s final.”
Gods, as much as it sometimes irritated you, you loved that he was so stubborn.
________________________________________________
After a few days that felt like an eternity, you came to the realization that you’d gained more power than you initially predicted.
You could fly. That was to be expected; what else would the wings be for?
You could turn invisible. You only discovered this because a howl coming from the depths of the woods startled you. When you looked down, you could no longer see your body.
And finally, your senses had heightened considerably. You could tell when someone or something died, even if it was outside the borders of camp. Beforehand, you could only sense it if they were within close parameters.
The change was scary, but exhilarating at the same time. You knew that once you got used to your new abilities, you’d be even more intimidating than you already were.
Luke had been a huge help. He accompanied you while you experimented with your powers in the woods, but respected your request for him to keep his distance. He would check in on you at every meal, and made sure you ate an adequate amount. At night before bed, he sat with you on your mattress in Cabin 11, listening to you ramble on and on about various frustrations. He understood your anger at your father better than anyone else. He shared the same resentment towards Hermes.
When you’d tired yourself out, he would bid you goodnight, give you a sweet kiss on the forehead, and climb into his own bed. And within minutes, he was out cold.
But you stayed awake, staring at the worn-down wooden ceiling of your Hermes’s cabin.
The fear you’d felt when your wings had first appeared had faded considerably. You felt powerful, invincible almost.
And with the best swordsman in three centuries at your side, there was nothing in the world for you to be afraid of.
