hello hi !! i love your art <33 do you think you could drop any nina hcs you have ?
hello and thank u!! here's some art from earlier today of my versions of nina and jane <3
Tumblr media
as for nina's hcs,, well I honestly haven't thought too much on her place in my lil fan storyline I'm making.
so let's see what I can make up on the spot!! kisdbsjhdkdsk
Nina's "origins"
like most creepypastas, I don't like Nina's original story. (lol) so here's my just as shitty version.
nina, in my world, was still a jtk fangirl. she heard his story on the news and was captivated by his mugshot. (definitely the type to romanticize true crime) she began emulating his chelsea grin with makeup and posting abt her infatuation w him on her social media.
this fixation on Jeff opened a door to the slenderman, which it gladly stepped through. like any edgy teen being stalked by an eldredge horror would, she began to document her experience w the monster on her verious social media outlets.
to prevent further exposure of the proxies n what not, nina was due to die. in the midst of her kidnapping, she expressed her interest in working alongside the monsters that stalked her.
in a rather sitcom-y way, nina was now a part of the problem, if u will. working w her fav serial killers </3
her style
clothing:
apart from being engrossed in the emo/scene culture, her clothing style is heavily influenced by the early 2000s. she loves all things gaudy and over the top, often resulting in a hot topic explosion.
intrests:
most likely influenced by her style, her interests in angsty media should be noted. she's an avid reader of johnny the homicidal maniac, death note, and other media in the like. her fave bands include- sleeping w sirens, get scared, msi, and blood on the dance floor.
(while on trips into town, she makes it a point to stop by the local nerd shop to stalk up on (rob) her favs.)
crime: (lmao)
let's just say she's very reckless. she leaves behind crums of evidence everywhere she goes. at this point, she's stopped making an attempt to hide her tracks.
she gets a little too into the killing thing- often being playful and flirting w her victims. she sees it all as one big game and definitely believes she's invincible.
relationships
-jane is her person, the perfect amount of balance and authority that counteracts her crazy. jane sees nina as a person in need of guidance and maybe a bit of parenting. nina sees jane as a big sister of sorts and often comes to her for advice and to confide in.
-toby is her bestie. point, blank, period. those two get into a little too much trouble together. they became close via the long drives that resulted from their extensive missions. at first, nina had the hots 4 toby but soon grew out of them infavor of his friendship.
fun lil tid bit- they like to sit in eachothers company while they read. nina reads her manga/comics and toby his books.
-jeff,, well jeff, for obvious reasons, isn't too found of nina. he finds her annoying and tiring, which is rich coming from him. he does his best to avoid her, but when the unavoidable is unavoidable, she ignores him. they say never meet ur idols and boy, they weren't kidding. all that time fantasizing abt her prince rly didn't match up to the sleazy prick she now works w. let's just say they don't get along.
-as 4 the majority of the creeps, there seems to be a consensus that nina is annoying af, and shes to be avoided. (rip nina)
so this was kinda shit! but either way, I hope u enjoyed the read. I may revisit this someday and flesh it out. or just scrap it all together pff!! lemme know what u think and lemme know any of ur guy's-s hcs or suggestions! i love reading what u have to say. (even if what u have to say conflicts w what i have to say)

as someone whos got a romeo and juliet adaptation/sequel on the backburner, i have a question for you: What is your favorite part of this play? It can be themes, a scene, or a character or whatever else! Personally my favorite thing in it, at the risk of sounding cliche, are the themes of destiny and doom. I also like benvolio (totally didnt get him in ur quiz lol)
oooh!! well i mean the obvious answer for me is equally obvious i think lol
Tumblr media
i fuckin love mercutio. so much so that even if im watching a version of r&j i don’t care for i’ll stick around at least until he dies lol
he really just cements the tragedy of it all to me. if the story were a romance he’d just be the silly best friend comic relief character, and, aside from the opening narration and a couple fights, r&j really can seem like a romance… up until mercutio dies. his death is a signifier of the tonal shift. the happy-go-lucky guy who brings romeo to a party and cracks jokes just died. you want comic relief? he’s dead.
and of course there’s the fact that he shouldn’t even be involved. he’s not a capulet or a montague. he’s related to the prince. not a part of the families. he’s a casualty. he was a friend to romeo and benvolio- two montagues- and he was invited to the capulet party! he’s how they got in! he had no enemies- he shouldn’t’ve died! hell, had romeo not come between him and tybalt, he might have lived. then romeo wouldn’t’ve killed tybalt, he wouldn’t’ve been banished, juliet wouldn’t’ve had to fake her death leading to well… everyone knows that part.
he only got into the fight to defend his friend’s honor. (well, to be fair depending on how you read the dialogue before the fight, mercutio might be pretty ready to jump into a fight for any reason lol) but still, he got into that fight because tybalt wanted to fight romeo, and he only died because romeo intervened.
what really gets me too is… no one seems to mourn him. sure, yes, romeo kills tybalt in revenge, but then immediately tybalt’s death takes priority. everyone’s freaking out about how tybalt died- tybalt is mourned. i don’t recall if mercutio is ever mentioned again. (edit: mercutio is mentioned when paris dies, romeo calls him mercutio’s kinsman, but that’s. still not much)
there’s also his iconic quote as he’s dying- a plague on both your houses. as he dies he goes out screaming about how both families are at fault, how it’s their own stubbornness that is causing all this. and if anyone listened to him, maybe things would’ve been different. but still, romeo and juliet (…and paris i guess?) have to die before anyone actually listens.
also, on a more lighthearted note, he is fucking hilarious. his whole queen mab monologue to make fun of romeo is a personal highlight, as well as his line like… quoting from memory here, “here comes romeo, without his ‘ro’ like a dried fish.” okay okay so this is when they still think romeo is into rosaline, hence the “ro” but also “roe” like fish eggs, but also meo is a word for “sigh” so he’s sad because he doesn’t have his crush with him all told with a fish pun. love this guy i aspire to be on his level
ooh, also, when a staged production (or other kind? it’s most common staged) uses red for the capulets and blue for the montagues, i love when mercutio wears purple. goes back to my earlier point about him not being either but still being friendly with both.
also speaking about very specific productions of romeo and juliet some mercutio highlights:
-in rómeó és júlia (personal fav version of mercutio) when mercutio gets stabbed, he bleeds, gets his hand covered in blood, and slaps romeo before he dies, so romeo goes through the rest of that scene wearing his friends blood and it really adds to it
-also in that version they give mercutio a rap verse that is in no other version and i think of it constantly
-he also keeps flirting with everyone and kisses both romeo and benvolio and tries to with tybalt
-i made a compilation of him in that version i never posted actually i should see if i can find it
-in the italian version of romeo et juliette mercutio kisses romeo as he dies and it’s really intense lmao
-okay actually just watch this video comparing different versions of le duel from romeo et juliette i’ll stop talking about those versions specifically lmao (and watch les rois du monde & la mort de mercutio on the same channel)
youtube
-in romeo + juliet he wears heelys and when he says “by my heel i care not” you can see them lmao
-in that version he also dresses in drag and i love it
-riff from west side story is not technically mercutio but he sings the jet song & cool and i love those songs so hell yeah
-okay i said i wouldn’t talk about versions of retj again but going back to my beloved hungarian version rómeó és júlia the guy who plays mercutio also voices the onceler in the hungarian version of the lorax and if i have to know that so do you
anyway i genuinely plan for my last words to be “ask for me tomorrow and you shall find me a grave man” so yeah love that guy and personally think this could have all been avoided had he started dating romeo and benvolio and hell why not have a toxic fling with tybalt what who said that

It's the Harry Osborn fashion post nobody asked for!
I'm no expert in menswear (all info + photo examples come from VintageDancer) so take this as speculation and feel free to correct any terminology. Still, I wanted to ramble about his interesting progression of clothes choices through the classic comics.
Ditko era (1965)
An outdated look even for the time: the bowtie, brown/grey color scheme, and wide high-waisted pants with a skinny belt are all kind of 1940s/50s things. Not to mention the hair.
Tumblr media
It seems Ditko's only vision for Harry was Norman Junior. You know those eerie photos of politicians' families where the kids are dressed identically to their parents? Yeah.
Of course, once characterization catches up, there's a lot to be said about Harry's relationship with imagined "good old days" and his father's self-image.
Characterization catches up (1966)
John Romita is here and we get a flashback to baby Harry, who in contrast to his dad looks like an easter egg.
Tumblr media
On a practical level, bright colors (1) draw attention to Harry as a new main character and (2) convey time passing. But it also fits with the reveal that he's a mostly sweet kid trying too hard to conform to an aggressively traditionalist role model.
I like that the bow tie sticks around. It has old-fashioned, dweeby connotations (as probably originally intended) but it also has appropriate oddball performer connotations.
Roomates era (1966-69)
Big checkered patterns, vests, and expanded colors; a showy take on the Ivy League 50s/60s style, unless I miss my guess. A bit more modern, but still in the realm of uptight dweeb. I love how Romita made him friendly without making him less weird.
Tumblr media
It's a rather slow makeover from monochrome to bright and patterned. On a Watsonian level, it's fun to imagine that living away from his dad lets him gradually rediscover a colorful fashion sense.
The less formal at-home version of this look is a sweater or sweatervest with a collared shirt, a la baby Osborn.
The New Osborn Image (1969. nice)
Eventually both Harry and the editors get self conscious about keeping up with the times, and...
Tumblr media
This is so charmingly "repressed young adult finally has their awkward rebellious self-discovery phase halfway through college" to me. Artists love to call back to this look because lol, retro facial hair, but I think its status as a bona fide short-lived Embarrassing Phase makes it sacred.
The New(er) Osborn Image (1970-72)
Exploratory phase over, his new look is something between Mod and Peacock Revolution: long coats, double-breasted tailored jackets, colorful turtlenecks, neckerchiefs instead of ties.
Tumblr media
In my totally unbiased opinion this is the pinnacle of Harry costuming. He's found a public-facing sense of style that's fun. It's formal, but not just in a Norman-impressing way—he got here via personal experimentation and peer inspiration. It's the most joyful sartorial self-expression he ever seems to get.
Sure hope he's not about to experience personal-identity-shattering amounts of stress and tragedy!
spice up your mental breakdown by raiding your father's closet (1973)
At least, I think that's Ross Andru's angle. Harry moves back into his dad's townhouse and his clothes are uncharacteristically oversized and formless.
Tumblr media
Drop the metaphor, fill your father's shoes for real. The fur-lined coat + leather gloves in particular strike me as unnaturally Normanesque. Earlier periods illustrated his Garbage Mental Health Hygiene with untucked shirts and unfastened collars, though his hairdo is still perfectly in place because everyone knows it just grows in like that.
I think the shirt he's committed in is the first short-sleeved shirt we ever see him wear. Probably too early in history for him to be given a pair of those grippy socks.
back to basics/dadclothes (1975-on)
Harry comes back in ASM 151 with two outfits: a grey suit and tie and a plaid short sleeved shirt with jeans. This split between utilitarian business clothes/simple comfort clothes sticks around into Buscema and JMD's 90s run.
Tumblr media
This was probably meant to signal that he's more "grown up" and stable, but after everything else it just feels like a very lonely return to form and a widening fracture between public presentation and personal identity—this time self-enforced.
JMD uses the goblin costume to talk about Harry's struggles with self-image and emotional compartmentalization, but I think it works because that theme was already there in a less dramatic way. Particularly once the colors went back in the closet.
The thing about toxic performative masculinity is that it hates to admit that it's just a performance. Showy fashion can be attractive to people who've been told they flunk out of gender for physical or mental reasons because it's entirely performance (hence the art of drag) (and hence transmascs who joke they dress like silver age Harry). Also, I think it's just a fun personality trait for him to enjoy bright and meticulous dress, dangit.

Detective Mickey Pilot P.1
So I made a post earlier about what other Mickey and Friends content they will make due to the most likely end of the Rudish shorts. Personally, I am really hoping we don’t get another drought like before with only the pre-school cartoons coming out. I really like these characters and think they deserve content. And it seems like others agree as that is probably my most popular post on here (Though I barely post on here lol)
One idea I mentioned was a Detective Mickey series, taking place in the modern day, that is inspired by the comics made by Floyd Gottfredson and other Mickey comics, including the Topolino series, but also references Mickey and Friends lore in general. Being less of an adaption and more of its own thing. It is honestly such a great way to expand on the Disney characters in more of a dramatic sense after the Rudish shorts expanded more on a comedic sense. Plus it explores a piece of Disney media that deserves more attention.
So with all that said, I had a pilot idea that has been bouncing around my head and I just feel like I need to share it. This would be the first couple of episodes (Kind of like what both Ducktales did) that is inspired by the comic “Mickey Mouse Outwits the Phantom Blot”.
Keep in mind this is just an idea, and not what I think should be the only way to go about it. Tbh there are so many ways this kind of show could go. I had to split this whole thing into parts, because of how big it got and how much I wanted to share. I would love to hear your thoughts and maybe I can share other ideas I had for this show if it existed, if you are interested or have any questions.
Next Part: X
I also made an improved version of this story. If you want to read it (I really recommend it) check this out.
The show will start off with what appears to be a quiet night. We zoom into a fancy-looking museum where two figures are talking while going down the elegant and large halls. One appears to be a high-ranking security guard and the other one is in fancy attire. The security guard is assuring the other that the security system protecting the emerald (This would have a better name, but isn’t important now) is one of the best in the world and that there is no way any villain or criminal is getting through. As they discuss this, the security system is being shown off, being pretty impressive and thorough. The fancy one still appears nervous however and states that the emerald has very special properties and that if anyone gets their hands on it, who knows what they could do. They even start name-dropping some villains, almost saying the Phantom Bl-, before being silenced by the security guard. The guard assures them that they are 100% confident that there is absolutely no way anyone can get this emerald, including any creeps in cloaks…
As they say that they stop to where the emerald is or rather was… The cushion where the emerald was once placed has an emerald-shaped dent with a note left on top. The note reads something along the lines of
“I was hoping for a bit of a challenge, but left rather disappointed. I guess that is never in the cards for me. Perhaps next time you won’t BLOW it up.
Sincerely"
The letter was signed with a couple blots of ink. The classic signature of the infamous master criminal. Both are shocked with the security guard furiously calling for back up saying that the Phantom Blot has been here, without realizing that they are stepping into a tripwire which leads into a hissing sound. The one in fancy attire hears the hissing and tries their best to warn the guard only for it to be too late. The once quiet night is now interrupted with the sound of a loud explosion and a cacophony of sirens as police cars swarming the area. Any public who happens to be out at night frantically looks around in fear, knowing that some villainy must be near. The camera pans up to a shadowy figure in a black as night cloak and two glowing white eyes standing on top of a building overlooking the mess. You can’t see his face, but you get a sense that he is grinning as he chuckles to himself, pleased to see the explosion and the chaos that surrounds it, with an emerald in his hand.
We then cut to what appears to be reporters reporting on the emerald theft, but then it evolves into reporting on other crimes of the Phantom Blot and then not just reports but interviews and public accounts. Essentially they explain that the Phantom Blot is one of the most nefarious criminal masterminds in the world. Always seeming 100 steps ahead of any police or law enforcement organization and is able to make the most challenging heists seem like child’s play. This Phantom Blot has never been captured and has never failed, running his schemes nearly perfectly with impunity, often taunting and teasing law enforcement as if this was a game to him. He is feared by the public, but adored and respected by other villains (with a couple of exceptions, but that would be explored in other episodes). He has waitlists full of criminals who dream of working with him on the few times he gathers a team. Mostly drawn to his charisma and leadership but also knowing that with him that failure is a rarity. Many wonder if this evil genius is truly as invincible as he appears or if maybe someday there can be someone who can stop the Phantom Blot.
This is where Mickey fades into view. He is currently asleep though not for long after being awakened by an alarm clock (looks like the classic cartoon clock) and jumps out of bed excitedly saying that today is the day. He goes to fix breakfast and feed Pluto with a large smile beaming on his face. Pluto, while happy that he has more food, is a bit confused by the sudden excitement from Mickey. That is when Mickey tells him that today is the day that things change. He mentions that he finally found a way to convince the Editor in Chief to stop giving him busy work and to let him take on the real stories. He even mentions having a secret weapon thanks to Minnie as he pulls out a white box from the fridge. Thinking about Minnie he checks his phone and looks at pictures of her together, reminiscing on how lucky he is to be her boyfriend, being high school sweethearts and together ever since… That is when he notices that the time on his phone doesn’t match the time on his appliances… Shoot, Daylight Savings Time, he was so focused on working on his special project that he completely forgot to change his appliances… Including his alarm clock which means that he is LATE… He rushes out the door… Realizes that he is in his pajamas… and then comes back in his clothes (looks similar to what he wears in the Topolino comics but with a white spotted red bowtie) and makes sure to grab a camera (similarly colored) to put around his neck and the white box… He tosses, gently, the white box, into the car and rushes out of the driveway. Going as fast as he can… Within the speed limit.
This is where the name of the show will appear. (Detective Mickey is the current placeholder title) Mickey will drive through the town as various gags take place and we can see some characters. We can see Mickey’s Neighbor Mrs. O’Hara wave goodbye to Mickey, Goofy and Pete who seem to be discussing something while taking Max and PJ going to school, Sylvester Shyster walking off with a sinister grin on his face, Clarabelle outside of a bakery she appears to own, Horace who is coming out of some kind of Amazon-like Pick up place carrying a large number of boxes, and a couple of other characters that are callback or will be referenced in later episodes. Once he is parked, the best he can, he rushes into a building that says “Mouseton Argus”. He instantly bumps into someone through the door, destroying the white box and causing pieces of cream and pie crust to splash out. Mickey looks up to see the person he crashed into is… Ugh, Mortimer… Mortimer of course takes this chance to mock Mickey and brag about how he just came back from another successful interview after catching his 3rd set of crooks that month. He reminisces about how ever since he started that Private Investigation firm, he has been having nothing but success while Mickey gets people their coffee. Mickey of course retorts that he does more than that and things will change soon. Mortimer of course laughs it off, before licking a piece of cream from the white box that flung out onto his cheek. He instantly recognizes it as one of Minnie’s Banana Cream Pies and asks for a slice only for Mickey to tell him to shove it. He then retorts that he’ll just stop by her place and ask for a pie and hey maybe ask her to get a new boyfriend too. Mickey rolls his eyes as he enters the building.
Mickey stops by his office to pick up a laptop, which is more of a corner with a kiddie table and chair, and immediately heads over to what appears to be the office of the Editor in Chief at the Mouseton Argus, ignoring all the glares and comments about him being late. He comes in apologizing for being late, but mentioning that he has something the Editor will want to see. He then shows a presentation on his laptop of various pictures that Mickey took and other demonstrations of his skills. Mickey goes straight into the presentation, trying to convince the man that he has enough experience to start joining the journalists on bigger stories and to move up from a Junior Assistant Photojournalist in Training. Unfortunately, the other man doesn’t look pleased and tells Mickey that he doesn’t think he is up to the task. Mickey tries to bring in the destroyed banana cream pie, but that doesn’t change anything as he continues to explain that just because Felicity is Mickey’s sister and she was one of the best journalists they ever had, enough to move away to a larger city and work on national news, doesn’t mean that he will get special treatment, heavily implying she was the only reason Mickey got hired in the first place. Mickey tries to interject. But is met with more criticism as the Editor mentions that they are nice enough to even let him make a cartoon for the funny pages, but when it comes to journalism he even wonders if Mickey is good enough to be a journalist. This unfortunately is the final point that leaves Mickey defeated as he takes back the pie, only for the Editor to stop him… So that he could leave the pie, but also to get him a coffee as Mickey was late this morning and thus missed getting him his morning coffee. Mickey sighs and solemnly goes to do so. When he returns with the coffee, he sees a couple of journalists inside the Editor in Chiefs office talking with an intern, who gives off major slacker teen vibes. They appear to be inviting the intern to go with them on a story as it would be a great learning experience. The Editor agrees and says that he supports him 100%. The teen shrugs and dispassionately agrees, bringing up the fact that the Editor in Chief is his uncle, which leads to cheers. This is the final straw for Mickey as he leaves the coffee on the desk and sulks back to his “desk” in despair.
The next scene immediately starts with a shocked Minnie who is very upset at the information that Mickey gave her. They are at a nice restaurant, clearly on a date. Minnie mentions that Mickey shouldn’t let them treat him like that and whether she should go and give the Editor in Chief a “Talk”. Mickey immediately lets her know that it will not be needed, but that he appreciates it. Minnie clarifies that she just wants to help given the fact that when she was getting nasty comments from her peers about her bow-centric fashion, Mickey was there to support her all the way. She believes in him just as much and knows that he will accomplish great things and wants the best for him. She even wonders whether Mickey should work somewhere different since they clearly don’t respect him there. Mickey reminds her that being a journalist was a dream of his and his sister and how they bonded over journalism. His sister started her own local paper as a kid and let Mickey take the pictures and draw the comics, while she focused on writing articles. He doesn’t want to give that up and let her down over some bullies at work. And the “Mouseton Argus” is the best news source in Mouseton and the best way for any journalist to get anywhere. Minnie sighs seemingly confused about what else to do, but then a smile grows on her face as she appears to have an idea. She brings up that since they won’t let Mickey be part of the bigger stories, why doesn’t he just find one on his own. Mickey grows a smile of his own as he thinks about the idea and adds that he can ask his neighbor Chief O’Hara to see if they have any unsolved cases he can look into. Minnie cheers on the idea and even mentions making some of O’Hara’s favorite lemon bars to help. They then continue to excitedly talk into the night coming up with new ideas and just enjoying the night together.
We now jump to another day as Mickey is heading into the Mouseston Police Department. He is carrying what appears to be a plate full of lemon bars. He goes to the lady at the desk and asks if he could see Chief O’Hara as they are neighbors and has a delivery for him. The lady ignores him and Mickey mentions to say it is from Mickey Mouse. She ignores him again until he gives a confused “please”. That seemed to do the trick as she told him to sit on the chairs in the lobby and that she’ll let O’Hara know that he’s here. Mickey thanks her and immediately heads over, but not without noticing what appears to be a wall of wanted posters (perfect place for cameos and references to future episodes). He stares at all the criminals carefully observing each one, but notices there seems to be a larger poster covered by a couple of smaller ones. Almost instinctively he starts to move the posters out of the way, until realizing he isn’t tall enough to get the ones at the top. He then drags a chair, careful to not make too much noise, and is now tall enough to reach the posters at the top. As he removes the final paper the larger poster is fully revealed reading “BEWARE THE PHANTOM BLOT” at the top. Mickey looks deeply into the cold white eyes of the dark-cloaked figure shown and feels a sharp shiver in his spine, when he tries to step back to take it all in, he stumbles on the chair he was standing on, immediately getting the lady at the desk to bark at him. He apologizes and looks again at the poster, still feeling unnerved. He comments to himself “Boy, I would hate to meet this guy” “Yeah I think anyone would”. Mickey jumps again on the chair, getting another angry glare from the secretary.
He looks to the source of the other voice recognizing Chief O’Hara. O’Hara looks tired, but happy to see him. They greet each other and Mickey hands him the lemon bars, much to O’Hara’s excitement, and asks if they could chat. O’Hara mentions that they are really busy, but you know what he can squeeze in a few seconds. It would be nice to not think about work for a little bit and to chat with a friend. He leads Mickey to his office as the entire police department seems to be in chaos with officers and others rushing around in the background. Mickey inquires about what may be going on and O’Hara alerts him that a federal inspector is coming soon and they are trying to be prepared for it. They eventually reach O’Hara’s office with O’Hara sitting down and already digging into the lemon bars. He realizes what is happening and apologizes to Mickey and asks what he wanted to tell him. Mickey tells him about how he is wondering if O’Hara has something he can investigate for his job. O’Hara inquires as to whether they aren’t giving him anything at work, and Mickey sheepishly gives some excuses though O’Hara’s seems to understand what is actually happening. He says that he is glad to help as Mickey was always helpful to him even as a trouble-making kid. He remembers Mickey solving the case of “Mrs. O’Hara’s missing Orchids”, which ended up being the other neighbor's dog. Even comments that he is surprised Mickey didn’t become a detective given his strong observation and deduction skills. He then focuses back on the original conversation and mentions that due to the inspection all of the cases are being handled to increase the number of completed cases, much to Mickey’s dismay. He apologizes until a flash of recognition hits his face as he remembers that they just got a recent call about something. Apparently, a pawn shop is reporting a missing camera. According to the caller, it just disappeared one night with absolutely no traces of theft. O’Hara remarks that since the person reporting was elderly it is possible they misplaced it. Also in these cases, they just see if it was confiscated by a recently caught criminal or is on a suspicious Ebay (Or Ebay equivalent) listing and if not found after a week just assume it is lost forever. But maybe Mickey could look into this, it could lead to something. Mickey of course is glad to have anything and takes the case immediately. Noting that we all have to start somewhere.
And with that, Mickey thanks him and runs off with the address of the Pawn Store, excited about all of the possibilities laid out for him. This could be his big chance. A chance for everything to change for the better. A chance for him to get the recognition for his efforts. A chance for his dreams to finally come true. That is if he didn’t immediately run into Detective Casey knocking him down. Casey tells him to watch it as he has important work to do as Brick helps him back up. Mickey apologizes profusely before running off as Casey shoos him away. Brick asks who that was and Casey mentions that it was probably no one important.
~ So that is part 1, this ended up being a lot longer than I expected. But again I wanted to get it out as best as I can. I tried to make it shorter by cutting the dialogue. But I would love to hear what you think. I think there may be 4 other parts, unless they also end up getting too long, so we’ll see. Thank you for reading!

(Heads up, the post discusses the abusive nature of Martin and Hal’s relationship pre-2005, as you may be able to tell from the link, so here’s your content warning)
https://www.tumblr.com/ufonaut/725487371146133504/space-case-the-pre-2005-martin-jordan
Hi hello! I know you already hate Geoff but I was wondering if you knew about this aspect of Stuff He Did/Changed/Ruined. As a comic newbie I thought it was interesting and perhaps you have a take of your own :)
The differing continuities means it’s probably unintentional, but it does create an interesting implication for at least the first GL Knight Terrors,,, I haven’t read the second one yet so they might not follow up on it lol
thanks sm for sharing this with me! i appreciate being informed + considered in the conversation :D while i vaguely knew that hal’s dad was Not Great pre-geoff johns, i didn’t know how or to what extent, nor did i know that the changes in his family dynamic were kicked off earlier than johns’s run either!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
gd no matter which version you go with, the common denominator is that hal was the black sheep of his family for being neurodivergent. kid can’t catch a break 🤕
from the explanation of the link alone, i think both versions explain his fear rly well with traumas that realistically play into every aspect of his life. there’s an influence that runs deep: his fear of having power and not knowing what to do with it bc he saw his father abuse that authority, his inability to grieve or acknowledge his trauma bc he was punished every time he tried—these are very different but very important traits in hal’s overall character. i was surprised to see how well aware pre-2005 hal was of the abuse he dealt at the hands of his father. post-2005 doesn’t even know that he was a victim of his family dysfunction, let alone recognize any of it as abuse
i like that in both versions, he has suicidal tendencies to paradoxically prove that he’s not suicidal (i think. i can only confidently speak on modern hal, but hal being reckless with his life is kinda just a persistent theme). the way the current narrative portrays it, hal idolizes his dad sm that when he died, he couldn’t bear to think that his last moments were in fear. it would force him to confront the fact that his dad wasn’t the great hero he worshipped, forcing himself to realize he’s just as vulnerable and that the rose-tinted nostalgia for his youth might be wrong. so he puts himself on the line with bravado bc if he dies, at least he could tell himself that he wasn’t scared. and from what i can tell of the older comics, hal was forced to be brave bc it was a survival tactic; if he could just go along with what his dad wanted, then maybe he could finally get his approval. and all that taught him was that the only thing worse than death is failure, so he’d put himself on the line to prove it. he can tell himself that he’s accomplished more than anyone’s ever believed in him, but his dad’s words still haunt him
the change in his backstory is a change in his character as well, and as someone that enjoys comics as a puzzle to figure out, i’d like to factor in all of these moving parts as much as i can make them fit. before, i thought martin’s death martyred him; now i think that interpretation could include both of these versions moving forward. if current hal is already putting his dad on a pedestal, then the follow up question would be “what does that hide abt him?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
interesting implications indeed…
but this is where i get to share my personal thoughts/ biases! bc i’m very preferential + love complicating things, simply stating that martin’s death put him on a pedestal doesn’t satisfy me. now between you and me, i personally prefer the current narrative (i mean obviously, that’s my only firsthand experience, so i’m taking my own thoughts with a grain of salt here)
a huge part of hal’s interest in planes comes from the fact that he and his dad bonded over them together, but it also bordered on obsession
Tumblr media
i mentioned before that hal was treated unfairly by his family for being neurodivergent, and scenes like this one definitely have nd subtext to me. the older comics had his father berate him for “having his head in the clouds” (*cough* adhd), the newer comics have his mother keep his interests away from him bc “he’s consumed by it” (*cough* autism). but what’s difficult abt meshing these two is that martin being a source of ableist abuse becomes confusing if he’s nd too, specifically encouraging hal to indulge in his special interest (btw hal has audhd either way peace and love ✌️)
so i think i would take this the same way as jessica: did irreparable damage as a parent but there were enough good moments that hal wants to remember instead. his dad verbally abused him for having “weak” emotions, but hey, at least he let him skip school! and sure, he might’ve hit him, but would a bad dad introduce him to his special interest? (and so there’s no misunderstanding, i’m speaking facetiously here)
i think hal has had genuinely fond memories with both of his parents, most ppl wouldn’t be able to gauge that there was smth going on with the way he talks abt them, which is not uncommon for abusive relationships in general. it just doesn’t erase the trauma it left him with. jessica cherished and tried to protect hal but ultimately suffocated him, and martin nurtured hal’s passion and gave him “freedom” but harmed his well-being
i’m too under-read and biased to give both versions equal share in my interpretation, but i will say that i rly appreciate the older comics for their explicit portrayal of toxic masculinity in hal. like that shit is literally killing him but i don’t often see his dad playing a role in it when he obviously got it from him, nor is it shown as the root of those problems. if there’s one thing that makes modern comics hard to read, it’s the unironic machismo. again, LITERALLY killing him.
as for the differences in hal’s suicidality that i mentioned earlier, there’s actually a lot of similarities with the ways he treats his own life. in either case, hal tries to be brave to prove smth (to his dad in the old, to himself in the new). the main difference is fear vs worship, and honestly those are just two sides of the same coin. it goes back to that toxic masculinity his dad taught him abt failure, and it ties in with wanting to feel connected to his dad thru their shared interest. at the core of it is denial
i would have to get into more older comics to rly flesh this interpretation out, but i think this is laying out some interesting groundwork. thank you again for this ask, rly gave my brain a treat today!

I'm actually genuinely curious to know and I don't mean to come off as rude or anything, sorry if I do, but could you explain how Wednesday is a mama's girl? (I saw her more as a daddy's girl than mama's girl.)
Hi! Thank you for the ask! Don’t worry, I don’t find this rude at all!
(WARNING: RANT AHEAD! TLDR AT THE BOTTOM!!)
Honestly, Wednesday being a Mama’s girl isn’t actually my wording, but rather taken from a post I saw quite a few hours before posting, so I really don’t have much of a chance at finding it again lol. Especially since I just woke up 😅
But, anyway! The post I’m referring to both now, and in my other post, actually gets me a little upset (fine… a lot upset, really). I can’t remember exactly but I believe it had pictures of Wednesday cuddling and hugging Morticia from the 1964 sitcom and the caption said (again from what I remember, so not an exact quote) “Wednesday has always been a Mama’s girl, no matter what Burton tries to do.” In reference to the Netflix series, where Wednesday is often antagonistic to her mother and her family, and totally touch-averse.
Now, remembering my post earlier, you might be able to see why it upset me so much. I’m well aware that it probably wasn’t Mr. Burton’s exact goal to have Wednesday be autistic-coded in the Netflix series, but it doesn’t change the fact that she almost 100% is (along with Enid Sinclair being autistic & ADHD-coded). A lot of Wednesday’s behaviors and traits shown through the show are commonly seen in autistic people. Therefore, me and a lot of other autistic people along with some of the Neurodivergent community have been able to see themselves, and connect deeply with this “new version” of the character.
But, unfortunately at the same time, another large part of the fandom for the show and The Addams Family in general, have taken to criticizing this change, claiming that this version is horribly unfaithful to the source material, not recognizing that the Addams Family lore has been changed quite a lot already in EVERY ADAPTATION SINCE THE ORIGINAL COMIC BY CHARLES ADDAMS!!!! And what’s most infuriating to me is that most of these people completely disregard the ways that Wednesday shows her affection to her family in the show. Because it’s totally disrespectful to the point of the Addams Family (kinda like how the animated movies made Morticia’s love for her children conditional).
The point of the Addams Family is to break the typical image of what society deems “normal” and so to try and expect every adaptation of it to be perfectly loyal to the original source material, it kinda defeats the point, doesn’t it? The Netflix series is a modern adaptation that shows this kooky and spooky little family defying the social norms of today, just like the sitcom did back in the 60s and how the 90s movies did the same for their time. Wednesday now reflects Gen Z’s sarcastic and oftentimes dark view of the current world in the most brutally honest way possible, not holding back or coloring over it like most of my generation is expected to do.
And the fact that people refuse to see that? It’s heartbreaking because they’re missing out on a damn good, funny and entertaining adaptation of this classic American comedy series. That’s the problem with today’s chronically online society, everybody watches things looking for something to criticize, LOOKING FOR FLAWS IN EVERYTHING!!!
What happened to watching things, JUST TO WATCH THEM?!? When did enjoying media stop being about having fun and instead turn into this? This, hypercritical behavior of everything that doesn’t fit this impossible standard of perfection?
Anyway! Sorry, I went on a tangent lol!
Tldr: Wednesday being a Mama’s girl isn’t my terminology, but rather from a post here on Tumblr that I can’t find. People have horrible media literacy these days and look at everything two dimensionally. Wednesday from the Netflix series is actually the same Wednesday she’s always been, just adapted for the modern day.

The other manga I've been keeping up with that recently just ended! And I'm going to talk about it!
Tumblr media
Ayaka-chan wa Hiroko-senpai ni Koishiteru (Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko!) by Sal Jiang
A lesbian office drama written by a Twitter artist I really like! Ayaka has a crush on her senior at work, Hiroko, and constantly tries to make Hiroko notice her. Hiroko is a lesbian who’s closeted at work and trying her hardest not to fall for Ayaka, who she thinks is an oblivious straight girl. The appeal is the comedy of watching two women made stupid by love freak out over each other, underlined by queer angst.
Things I like about it:
Charming characters! The main couple is SO easy to fall in love with and root for- they are so earnest and funny and have great chemistry. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re drawn REALLY well with fun, expressive faces and cute designs.
Themes of queerness as identity and community! More in the spoiler section, but my favorite scenes in this story take place in in a gay bar with a character’s WLW friendgroup as they talk about being gay. The community is my favorite part of being queer and I never see it reflected in manga, and I love how much fun and love is put into the scenes with the friendgroup.
You can read the official English comic online here! I think this is the most affordable I’ve ever seen a manga actually, so it’s definitely worth a buy! I will admit I am using the Dynasty Scans pages in the spoiler section of this post, since that’s the version I read before finding out about the official English version.
Expanding on my two points above in the spoilers section!
Time for the section where I play show and tell
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s the premise!
Great characters and chemistry
Ayaka is SO cute. I love pretty femme girls who are kind of bratty, and she’s portrayed in a way where you know the author’s having so much fun with her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some random out of order/context Ayaka faces from the earlier chapters! I forgot how cute and sweet she comes off in the earlier chapters, she’s a total goblin later lol
Hiroko is also such a fun character! I love the contrast between a really serious, straight laced, determined-to-not-fall-in-love person at work to uhhhhh womanizer at night lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of fun, a character interaction trope I’ll never get tired of are “characters who comedically overreact when they’re in love with someone” and that fits this couple to a T!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What a cute sequence….
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both characters’ POVs from the same chapter. Hiroko focusing on how hot Ayaka is, and Ayaka imagining wedding bells when Hiroko looks at her LOL.
I could keep showing screenshots of these two until I basically go through the entire comic lol.
But even outside the main two, I really like the side characters as well! A standout is Risa - Ayaka’s colleague who’s also a baby gay and has a crush on her. I’m unusual in that I usually like love triangles, but I do think this one is written really well! She’s sympathetic, her doomed longing for Ayaka is delicious and relatable. (Spoilers) I love how her selfishness and selflessness is balanced- her crush and competition with Hiroko makes her sabotage Ayaka’s crush in small ways in the beginning, but she fundamentally cares for her friend and roots for them in the end. Also, (BIG SPOILERS) she and Ayaka end up dating and breaking up but still remain friends, which is another favorite trope of mine. (HUGE SPOILERS) I love this page, any manga that includes a scene like this is top tier for me…. She feels realistic and her story is really sweet!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Left) Baby gays smashing braincells against each other and (Right) Risa’s eyes wander….
Queer community and identity
This section has more spoilers than the last one!! If you haven’t read this comic but plan on it, I recommend you not read this part!!
In my last post, I said that Yuri as a genre doesn’t need to have anything about queerness as an identity to be good, but then I realized that most of my favorites did have a focus on identity…. Yeah IDK what to say LOL. But the identity aspect is a big plot point/theme of this story, and it’s written SUPER well.
First of all- Hiroko’s backstory centers on homophobia and her being super closeted at her workplace. I’m iffy on homophobia stories (just cause I’ve read a lot of them and they tend to hit on the same points), but the homophobia theme leads to one of my fav scenes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Context: Risa knows Hiroko is closeted and rants about it to the bartender at a lesbian bar who knows Hiroko.
I love this focus on how queer people interact with the straight world, and the generational divide between older and younger queers. I can only speak from a US perspective, but progress around LGBTQ acceptance has come so far and so fast the past few years that if I was born a few years earlier or a few years later, I’d have a radically different life experience. It’s something I think about a lot when reading memoirs and articles by older queer people, and contrasting that with my life and the observed lives of people younger than me online. This theme is explored well in this story- the cultural tensions between Hiroko and Ayaka and Risa, how straight people may react more positively to queer people now but it’s still not perfect, and how Hiroko has changed her workplace for the better.
Also speaking of the lesbian bar- I love the girls at the bar lol. Right after the scene with Risa, a gaggle of lesbians come in and comfort her and it’s SOOOO heartwarming and cute. I love how this friendgroup is written- supportive, but also will call you out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s so fun to read these guys gossip, give each other relationship advice, bicker with each other, and be horny at women together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hiroko’s relationship with the girls is more bickering, but Risa and Ayaka end up going to them for advice a lot which is so sweet and the elder/baby queer relationship I need (not portrayed because I can’t find a screenshot that doesn’t reveal a big plot twist)
Anyway…that’s it…. If you’ve read this comic please talk to me about it…if you haven’t please read it. Thank you.

I've been wanting to ask you this for a while, what do you think of the season finale? And who do you think is at fault? And how would you have written that fanfic you said you'd write in a post?
hi i finally have access to my laptop & have had a chance to clear my head enough to get around to answering this!! first off THANK YOU for asking bcus this is the kind of thing i could talk about for hours lol so let's get into it.
i think the s4 finale was a godawful ooc mess of poor writing & forced drama. even as just a season finale it's bad but as a SERIES finale?? worst series finale of all time and i say that as a fan of supernatural lmao.
in terms of who's at fault, this might not be the answer you want to hear but personally i felt like for a significant part of s4 (ESPECIALLY the finale) the characters were so ooc that my brain isn't able to engage with who's at fault in a watsonian/in universe way - the only ones i can see as at fault for all the bullshit that goes down are THE WRITERS because the characters started acting in ways that completely contradicted everything we knew about them.
quick sidebar from the characters to add that i feel like it was stupid to go for yet another version of the whole "team breaks up then reconciles" thing because they had already done that before.. although never with that big a split, so i guess it had the potential to be compelling if the spit hadn't felt so forced & if we had actually gotten a s5 to watch them reconcile.
pretty much everyone felt out of character to me in the finale but ESPECIALLY walter, paige, and sly. oh and FLORENCE it absolutely didn't make any sense for her to develop feelings for walter & that's not just the part of me who had hoped she would end up with sly talking.
the arguments and drama just felt so forced and unnatural like, you're really telling me the same walter who said to sly "your refusal to let go of the wonderment of childhood, how you look at the world with open eyes, your innocence is your brilliance, and anyone who tries to tell you any different is dead wrong" in a christmas car roll said in the finale "if you were a real man instead of a comic book reading baby boy you would’ve asked florence out ages ago"??? it does NOT make sense & i see no explanation for it other than poor writing & the writers trying to just force a conflict.
in earlier seasons it felt like when there was conflict between characters it MEANT something, it made sense with their characters, & it was satisfying to watch how it played out. an example sticking w the walter/sly dynamic for now - when sly was afraid to tell walter he was dating megan & walter was upset when he found out, only for it to turn out that walter was upset because he was worried about sly getting hurt and not because he didn't think he was good enough for megan like sly was worried about. THAT was conflict that's actually GOOD and MAKES SENSE, not some bullshit that doesn't fit with the characters we know and love like the finale split.
getting back to ooc moments in the finale tho - walter was totally justified to call out sly for bringing megan into the whole mess, but like sly would never do that in the first place?? i was floored that they had him bring up megan like that it was honestly disrespectful sly and megan. i remember in my liveblog while watching the finale i literally said "were the writers on crack" regarding that part and i still stand by that lmfao. they really just shit on sly's character to throw more drama into this mess.
i have to talk about paige as well here... in early seasons i always loved paige & felt like she got a lot of undue hate from the fandom in back then but come season 4 i can definitely see where some of that negativity was coming from. imo part of what made her go downhill was her already established negative traits coming out more often (like from the beginning paige has always had a tendency towards jealousness, pettiness, & idk if i should call it internalized misogyny or the writer's misogyny showing through her (like the "we should give it to a scent tracking dog who specializes in finding sluts" directed at stella in s2)) so those things i can fault paige the character for in the finale. even if i wish they hadn't chosen to exaggerate those traits, they do align with paige as we've seen her at her worst.
what i do fault the writers for completely wrt paige is how just like, mean they made her for no reason? and mean towards walter that just don't make sense when compared to how she acted with him in the past. watching paige go off on walter saying shit like "I wanna go to the beach without hearing marine biology facts or go to dinner without hearing about the inefficiency of putting parsley on the plate" had me feeling like who IS this woman and what did you do with paige? it didn't make any sense for her to be so frustrated with always having to do "genius stuff" and wanting to just do "normal stuff" sometimes when they had already known each other for years before they started dating, so like what exactly did you expect? their relationship was SUPPOSED to be grounded on the fact that while she wanted to help walter better himself, she loved him and understood him, and accepted his genius traits in a way no other non-genius really had before. but then throughout all of s4 it felt a lot more like paige was trying to change walter and turn him into someone she wanted him to be than it felt like she actually loved him for who he was.
of course to some extent paige was always working to change walter i mean, that was basically her job description, but in early seasons it never felt like she wanted to change him so much, or so selfishly, or in ways that weren't just to help him be more well-adjusted without actually changing him fundamentally. s4 largely left me feeling like what happened to the paige that wanted walter to be the best version of himself he could be while also embracing himself and everything that made him different? where's the paige who ordered fermented fish? my feelings about waige at this point are basically "they were one of the most ships of all time until they actually started dating, then it all went downhill". they had so much potential as a couple but the writers kept fucking it up & the finale was the ultimate fuck up on that front.
i don't really have many issues with walter's characterization in the finale other than what i've gone over already in this post but one thing that consistently frustrated me with his late seasons writing was how the writers would just let him stagnate. we'd have a whole episode about walter learning a specific lesson then episodes later he'd be acting exactly like he was before he'd learned said lesson. it felt like SUCH a disservice to his character especially with all the growth we'd seen from him in earlier seasons.
to name just one example - looking at a christmas car roll as an episode i love it & it's a very fun watch (despite the fact that to me it marks the point where the season starts going downhill because of the stupid dream that everyone made way too big a deal about lol) but it didn't really feel like it fit with season 4? it's something that really would've felt more at home in season 1 or 2. "walter learns to appreciate his team" is already a lesson that's been learned multiple times by now, it doesn't make any sense for him to even be in a place where he NEEDS to be relearning this lesson in s4. he should've been far past that but it's like the writers never allowed most of his character development to stick long term. i wish s4 had allowed him more room for actual growth instead of the same lessons repeated over & over again - it felt like he was more developed in earlier seasons & the writers brought him backwards which is such a waste of potential with him.
anyway that's enough about that because this is getting long & a bit off topic from the finale itself but i kind of had to go into my thoughts on s4 in general since they shape my thoughts on the finale so much lol. as far as fic, i had a few vague ideas planned about something with a canon-divergent retelling of the events of s4 tackling a lot of the things i mentioned above.
the most fleshed out idea i'd had in mind tho was one that, for the most part, stuck w the canon of s4 & still had the team split into scorpion 2.0 and centipede with the same people choosing the same sides. the idea started purely out of spite lmao in my mind i had to prove to the writers that ok, you really need the team divided? here's how to do that while writing it in a way that made sense, keeping the post split-teams the same, and WITHOUT fucking up everyone's characterizations. i never really wrote a rough draft but did come up with a bunch of bullet points and a kind of general outline for what i had in mind:
-paige is still upset with walter because yes - she can be petty irrational and jealous. so i'd let her get a little jealous, but i'd cut all of the stuff about "not wanting to do genius stuff all the time" and "emotionally you'll never be more than 16". basically i'd allow her to be jealous & petty but cut all the meanness & the end goal would be for her to actually ADDRESS her pettiness and jealousy by the time they reconcile.
so they would still break up but it would be partially about the jealousy and partially paige being upset/disappointed about walter lying more than anything else. instead of thinking that he'lll never mature emotionally, she'd feel like he isn't mature enough to handle their relationship yet. once we get to the part where the team/waige reconcile it can be based on both walter gaining some more perspective (i don't want it to sound like put all the blame on him here or anything - paige did a pretty shit job explaining the whole white lies thing and was pretty hypocritical about it but i blame that more on the writers trying to force drama than on her) and paige working on her issues too, especially jealousy. so by the time they get back together they're both more mature & prepared to be in a relationship with each other. i'd like to have him write her another love song & have him sing it for her right before they get back together.
-sly still gets rejected by florence & some part of him still blames walter but much less so than in canon. i'd get rid of all the "you made her fall in love with you/you stole her from me" nonsense and make it more like he's projecting his own issues with self worth onto being upset with walter. considering his primary arc throughout the season was around his self worth, what am i really doing with my life, will i ever find some after megan, etc, it would make sense for him to take the rejection poorly and lash out but not so much out of direct jealousy towards walter but more in a sense that he feels overshadowed by him, and envious of the fact that walter has paige while he doesn't have anyone.
the aftermath/reconciliation arc i imagine for sly would be more about finding his own sense of self worth without feeling like he necessarily needs to "find someone". but then i think i'd still have him find someone anyway because it'd be nice and he deserves it. as much as i shipped him and florence during early s4 i don't think i'd have it be her, more likely i'd invent a character for this.
-florence isn't romantically interested in sly OR walter. she sticks with walter on scorpion 2.0 purely because they're friends and they work well together (this would probably be something paige gets EXTREMELY jealous about & would be one of the things she spends a lot of time working through.) also because it'd be pretty awkward to join centipede after turning down sly. i never really figured out what i'd do with her after that, i feel like we didn't really get enough info in s4 about florence as a character rather than just like, florence as a plot device/source of drama. to be fair it's been a while since i last watched s4 but even looking through my old notes i don't have anything about like an arc i'd like to see for florence so i feel like i'm remembering correctly & there's just not a whole lot to go on.
i also wasn't able to come up with any reasonings for toby & happy to leave that i'm truly satisfied with lol. all throughout s4 i was just waiting for them to decide to adopt WAY sooner because i mean. it's the OBVIOUS choice for happy & absolutely ridiculous that they jumped through so many hoops & did all these fertility treatments. should NOT have taken her so long to realize she wanted to adopt.
if it were up to me i would've had happy decide she wanted to adopt as soon as she decided she wanted kids. so in this scenario maybe i'd have them already with an adopted kid & they decide to leave & be part of centipede because they're just stressed out from all of the drama. i don't feel like there's much i'd need to change with cabe here, it's obvious he'd stand by walter.
i was never able to really wrap my brain around ralph in this scenario maybe bcus i'm not good with kids lol but i was LIVID that they just left him out of the finale completely when he should've been one of the most important characters to take into consideration for something like this?? yes obviously ralph has grown up a lot since s1 but when the team split in the past how it would impact ralph was ALWAYS a big thing that was taken into account. he wanted paige & walter to get together so badly, he always wanted walter to be his dad (personally i always thought it was kind of dumb how that stuff was written - imo walter WAS his dad from early on. he doesn't have to be dating paige to be ralph's dad. the found family show needn't be so beholden to the nuclear family but that's a whole 'nother post!) and they just did not include him in the episode or even bring him up.
anyway this post kind of got away from me but that's pretty much the gist of my thoughts on the finale & what i would have done differently!

This is technically a redraw? I was trying to think of things to do while in Poland while traveling in December and I was reminded of the old crew drawing I had done in 2021.
I always like drawing group shots, especially if I can show people's characters in them. That's the fun thing about having blorbos.
I also at the time was using it as an excuse to slightly redesign Romek (I removed his typical 3 stripes to just one general band down the arm, was trying to condense his hair, etc).
Romek also had the crew perk in MotW so they were slowly being introduced to flesh him out a bit since he's a recent immigrant. They're not much of a crew that Romek can call upon and assemble but they all know Romek due to him being the kind of guy he is.
There's a lot of words below about the squad, I am planning on some maybe short comics to explore them more as characters.
I also found this colorized version I was working on as well (with some slight edits to line art), but I really hate how I did the layers for painting it. But still, I don't think I ever posted it and also I wanted to show their official colors.
The squad as follows is Shura, a very friendly Russian older man who runs a small tea shop in Little Everywhere (a neighborhood near the community college Romek goes to) which also doubles as an arms shop when needed.
He knows a lot more about the supernatural than you'd think but Romek spends most of his time just wanted to drink tea there and get his ammo rather than dwell on that. He's chatty in a similar way Romek is but there's always a feeling of him holding back more info than he lets on. He's also married and has a small kid off screen but we never got into that lol.
Next to him is his niece Tina, who also works at the tea shop/gun store. Originally she was only mentioned off screen as a reoccuring joke that Shura really wants Romek to meet her as a potential match but I also really wanted more girls lol. I also decided she hates Romek a lot, very barely tolerating his existence. She's very first gen American, so she is very close to my heart.
Tina operates as a courier for the shop as well, she's a motorcyclist and also a gun enthusiast. She's not aware of the supernatural at all despite her uncle's work but eventually finds out. She's done a lot of crime in the past, but has tapered off due to her work with her uncle. She'll run some interference and is a bit of a gun for hire for Romek but only if he's paying well and not getting on her nerves.
I never really got the chance to really put formally why they work together, but I was going to say she's estranged from her family due to coming out to them along with her previous criminal behavior. Shura doesn't know (thought it would be funny), but I also expect he'd be an ally. He's just happy he can support his niece and invite her over for dinner and doesn't push her on why she's not talking with her parents.
I've been trying to figure out her character besides being exasperated with Romek's behavior, so I decided she also really likes American and Canadian cartoons and probably gets into arguments online about Owl House or She-Ra.
Next to Romek is Rafał (or Rafa as Romek calls him but actually it should be Rafalek or Rafcio if we're doing proper Polish dimunitives but I borrowed his name from a friend lol). He's also originally from the same part of Poland Romek is from, but emigrated earlier than Romek to this area. He's slightly older than Romek and been here longer.
He's a mechanic who works out of his trailer near the woods. He street races competitively when he's not working on cars. He's the most direct connection Romek has to Poland besides Romek's sisters back home and Franek lol.
He is also not aware of the supernatural but eventually is brought into the fold by Romek since his car and van keep getting damaged on missions. He is often exasperated by Romek's lackadaisical approach to the conditions of his vehicles but if Romek is paying, he'll do his best. He recently had been hired by Garth's fake business to do mechanic work for their missions.
I was going to figure out how they knew each other from Poland (I originally said, friend of a cousin, which just makes him like a cousin in some ways), but more recently I thought maybe he dated one of Romek's sisters and they broke up (but it's a very much of a "ah, maybe one day again?") He's also of Roma background, but that never really came up in the narrative and I did not want to do a disservice to the community.
Overall, love these little guys. It was great getting a base idea for them and having them fleshed out more during the campaign and then coming up with more ideas for them as time went on.

Gotta post about this b4 I forget about it but basically;
went on TVtropes yesterday, found the SRTUC page again, started adding to trivia and though, hmm, I've been getting "earlier anthro action cartoon" vibes from this show for a while now.... wonder why that is?
and guys, adding some of the art peeps there no the TVtropes trivia, I noticed that supervising producer ben jones actually worked on SWAT KATS as a character designer for 3 eps! what a connection to make!
my brain at that moment:
Tumblr media
edit 1(27.06.2023) - ok, turns out I just mixed the actual show up with this show.... but it's sorta nice for me bc I like reminiscing about Swat Kats haha xD
on with the old post!!
actually, swat kats is a cartoon I was obsessed with for a while as a kid after we got access to cartoon network and they started airing it here. i think it'd seen a dubbed version of it before but it was exciting to see the english original, . it was fun and rompy as I remember, but also I loved the music and action elements after bikermice ended and I missed it so much, seeing something with similar musical cues felt like a consolation almost, like "oh there's more cartoons like this". now admittedly, i don't really remember that much abt swat kats anymore. it aired alongside other H-B cartoons and there was a lot to watch and pay attention to, so i kinda haven't retained more of it than memories of memories of loving the intro, memorizing the music and feeling cool while watching it. I remember the shift to more "serious" storytelilng (if I remember it right at all lol) and both feeling a bit critical/apprehensive at Callie (bc I'd thought, "why is she the only one who gets a more human-like appearance) and loving her design/fawning over her ("oh no, girl hot") but also it was just interesting to see a girl character given a mayoral role which made her seem more important than I'd seen from other action cartoons directed at boys so far.
like, i need to rewatch this series now that I've seen the cast/crew list, and just see also what it was about this show that I loved so much it left some kind of artistic impression on me.
lol idk what other connection with SRTUC it has, but when I'd read that Ben Jones was on it, I suddenly also thought, "well, not it makes sense why the antrho designs in samurai rabbit actually makes sense" There are so many shows, comics and so on before which have made different kinds of attempts at anthro/furry designs, and they all might make sense within the context of their show/media piece, but what I liked about Samurai Rabbit was how it didn't "humanize" the animal designs *too much*. Resulting in awkward designs where women look much more human than their male counterparts. which might not bother a kid much, but will bother an artist like me concerned with consistency lol. like in the og usagi yojimbo it makes sense how the animals look a little more human depending on their role or function in the story/scene, Stan Sakai is very good at making his cartoony style work with these ideas of "basically human, but represented by animals" but also literally animals. And I like that the show takes this same idea and runs with it in it's own way.
All this to say - Experience builds on experience.
so Ben Jones and many other veteran animators/artists/writers in the field working on it, but also the numerous visdev artists, animators and other visual folk with similar vested interest in a UY adaptation, give this show such an unique flair among other furry/anthro shows.
sdfsdf ill continue writing this later, I am soooo exhausted after work today, but, this was cool to think abt yesterday and ive been mullting it over in my head during quiet hours. so cool to have a brain that keeps noticing all these names and all these similar things and then running with it. like the animated things you like are so connected thru their staff knowing each other or having worked on same/similar things before, you wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it all the time.

OKAY, I WILL DO MY BEST HERE, but it’s one of those cases where there’s A LOT of information and NOT A LOT of information at the same time!  We have a bunch of details and some good general ideas, but it’s not like it was a set-in-stone process, so there’s plenty of wiggle room if you want it. The Inquisitorius was started in 19 BBY, the same year as the fall of the Republic and the genocide of the Jedi, but seems to have been officially started after the Purge happened.  Sidious had been planning something like the  Inquisitorius for a long time, but this specific version of them wasn’t necessarily always the only version in development. The Inquisitors are all fallen Jedi, presumably ones that were captured by the Empire and tortured into becoming dark siders.  Several of them have mentioned that they were former Jedi, but the only one we’ve seen the process of is Trilla Suduri, who we saw being tortured for a very long time in Jedi: Fallen Order.  (Link of the relevant scenes here.  Warning:  It can be a bit of a tough watch, Trilla is physically tortured and some of it you see from her perspective, as the electricity is jolted into her body, which can be kinda disturbing.)  So, in theory, it’s possible that some of them fell on their own and agreed to join, but the one explicit example we have is where she was tortured into it and, while Cal is walking around their fortress, he talks about how multiple Jedi were broken there. (For another example, Prosset Dibs is a Jedi we saw falling to the dark in the Mace Windu: Jedi of the Republic comic, so he may have willingly joined or he may have healed while he was working in the Jedi Archives but not all the way and still had to be tortured into joining.) The Inquisitors are under the direct supervision of Darth Vader (after he’d discovered the program, he was put in charge of it), who trains them incredibly harshly--in Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith, he’s shown cutting an arm off one of them and basically telling them to suck it up and keep fighting, to remember what loss feels like.
Tumblr media
Sometimes they’d work with Darth Vader (the Grand Inquisitor went to the Jedi Temple in 19 BBY with Vader, where they confronted Jocasta Nu, the Ninth Sister went with Vader on a mission to investigate a possible Jedi sighting on Cabarria, Vader took them with when he went to kill Eeth Koth and kidnap his baby daughter, Vader had them with when he went to Mon Cala to confront Lee-Char, etc.), sometimes they operated separately from each other (all the times in Rebels or Jedi: Fallen Order that Kanan, Ezra, or Cal faced them when Vader wasn’t around, etc.), probably based on whatever Vader felt like or whatever Sidious felt like on a given day. The Inquisitorius as a group seem to have some degree of command over Purge Troopers, as they would often be seen leading a group of them (this happened often in Jedi: Fallen Order especially) and they could commandeer military assets (or probably civilian assets as well) if they needed to, so they had a certain amount of leeway when it came to their missions--so long as they didn’t piss off Vader or Sidious. Their main goals were to hunt down any Force-sensitives in the galaxy, whether newly discovered Force-sensitive children, former Jedi (whether they had left the Jedi Order or were Jedi in hiding, it didn’t matter), or even Force-sensitive adults who had never been trained by the Jedi.  They would turn them if they could, but otherwise it was to kill anyone who might possibly be a Force-related threat of any kind.  (What this means for planets like the Bardottens, they’ve never said.) They were greatly successful at their missions, so they wound up killing a great number of Jedi who had made it into hiding, along with Darth Vader being one of the biggest reasons the Jedi were mostly entirely gone by the time of the OT, which was helped along by Vader training the Jedi style out of them.  Part of why he was so harsh to them (including cutting off limbs, etc.) was to force them to be more aggressive and less defensive, to be sharp and quick and fast to overpower Jedi, who were used to a different type of fight. They still had unique talents (as all Force-sensitives are not the same), like Ninth Sister had a great talent for reading emotions (including Vader’s, where she could sense how much he wanted to die),
Tumblr media
As well as they weren’t actually Sith.  Only Sidious, Vader, and Maul were Sith, the Inquisitors were dark siders or fallen Jedi or possibly a category unto themselves. They have some sort of headquarters, as seen in Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith, where Vader is seen training them in issue #6 (same scene as above where he cuts off their hands or lightsabers their eye out), which is labelled as being on Coruscant, somewhere in The Works in the Industrial District:
Tumblr media
There’s a training arena we see there and at least some sort of communication/strategy rooms that Vader and the Grand Inquisitor walk off into, while they discuss the other Inquisitors. Which means it’s a pretty big complex/building, but (according to Wookieepedia and I’ll trust them on this, instead of digging out my copies of the Complete Vehicles and Complete Locations book), it was a building of Sidious’ that he used as a hideout during the Clone Wars. To what extent Vader and the Inquisitorius took it over (whether they just had a few rooms or the entire skyscraper), I don’t think we know?
Tumblr media
Later, in issue #20, we see there’s some sort of break room that Vader storms in on, when he returns to Coruscant, that the Inquisitors were sitting around and hanging out in:
Tumblr media
From there, it would be reasonable to extrapolate that this was a base for their operations, the place they returned to after they came back from wherever they’d been sent, possibly even this is where they slept and ate and were sheltered in between missions.  But that’s just reasonable conjecture, not hard canon! There is also Fortress Inquisitorius from Jedi: Fallen Order and it’s primary use was that it was where they took the Jedi they were torturing into becoming Inquisitors.  I wouldn’t say it’s an academy, per se, but it was a place that they likely used as a headquarters. In issue #20 of Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith, two of the Inquisitors rebel against Vader and he winds up chasing them down and cutting a huge swath of destruction in his path (LOL @ ANAKIN), which Sidious is not exactly pleased about.  He says that he’s going to move the Inquisitorious off Coruscant to another world so this won’t happen again:
Tumblr media
The comic was written in 2018 and Jedi: Fallen Order came out about 11 months later in 2019, so the above isn’t necessarily directly referring to that the Inquisitorious were moved to Fortress Inquisitorious on the moon Nur, but it’s also a very reasonable (and probably likely) assumption. We don’t have an exact timeline for when this issue takes place, but it’s minimum three years after Revenge of the Sith (the Mon Cala arc earlier in the comic is set three years post-ROTS), so probably around 15 or 14 BBY.   However, Trilla seems to have been kidnapped much closer to Order 66, so it’s likely that Fortress Inquisitorius existed long before Order 66 happened, it was used to torture Jedi once their genocide happened, but it wasn’t the Inquisitor’s HQ until several years later. We don’t see a lot of Fortress Inquisitorious, the limited amount of areas you can play through it in Jedi: Fallen Order don’t tell you a ton about what goes on there, but it’s a pretty huge underwater skyscraper sized building and you do see several prison cells and at least one training dojo.
Tumblr media
The galaxy at large didn’t know about Fortress Inquisitorious on the water moon of Nur or even the majority of the Empire itself didn’t know about it, it was a heavily kept secret. This is where Trilla and the other Jedi were taken, tortured, and forced into becoming Inquisitors and it’s likely that’s where the Inquisitors were based after the shitshow on Coruscant.  It’s a big enough building that it’s likely to have pretty much whatever kind of stuff your clubhouse needs for the Inquisitors!  But we don’t have much hard canon about it, no. As for the Inquisitors themselves, they’re complicated--some of them seemed almost loyal to each other, they would work together at times or even seem to avenge each other, but other times they would sneer at each other or mock each other, it seemed like they had a lot of shifting dynamics and probably a lot of it was fear at trying to survive being around Darth Vader. We don’t know for sure how many there specifically are or if, when one of them dies, they’re replaced by another, but it seems like there were at least twelve Inquisitors and we’ve never seen them be replaced, which I think implies that they were only ever meant to be a temporary measure and would be disposed of, as soon as Sidious knew all the Jedi were dead for sure/he could raise a new group of Force-sensitive children from birth. ANYWAY YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN:  LOTS OF INFO BUT NOT A LOT OF INFO.  😂

Spaceage Love song
Last years valentine comic, poor Mei was left out and I never ever got to do a follow up. So this year, Mei gets an entire comic to herself.
Also as an aside, i’d like for all the single people who hate the holiday because it reminds them of their singleness to look to the holiday as a day to be nice to themselves, for self care (physical, mental, emotional), and to do something nice for themselves. I typically use it as a day to buy myself something I wanted and do fun things. And to practice the continual lesson that I do not deserve self loathing and to work through negative thinking.
Be good to yourself.

The final part of our Peter’s X-mas wish trilogy that shoulda been done earlier but hey it’s finally here. Guess Peter in this outcome finally got himself a girlfriend. Or at least that’s the local gossip according to class 1-a and 1-b.
Stray dumb musings:
I dunno if Deku gets hurt that often, i draw him with the bandages cuz I just think it looks cool. Same with Peter’s webshooters.
Felicia has completed the transformation from seductive temptress to thirsty temperamental gremlin.
TFW you just wanna adopt all three and file off the serial numbers.
At this point, this comic is dangerously close to being a dumber, rowdier, meme-ier version of archie but with way more superheroes and anime.

Jeez has it already been a year???? Ah well, so in summary, this year Peter's relations with several girls has grown, more MHA characters made their appearance, and Peter either snarked/quipped/bungled his way through everything. I didn't get to make as much as i wanted to this year, but hopefully that changes next year.
As for what's in store for Peter in 2022?
I got an idea or two......

Ok, last random post for the night. This whole Vecna thing, one of the episode titles.
TLDR: This Vecna situation. "Vecna", I believe, WAS a person from an alternate Hawkins...? In an alternate Hawkins, maybe they were the prized experiment in a lab somewhere (001, who goes unmentioned in all alternate media). A psychic so unnaturally powerful (and abused/hurt like El and Kali were) they destroyed their own world?
Something once human that probably can no longer speak words, destroyed their version of the world long ago and is looking for a new place to call home?
Ok so, you can read the rest now if you want. It's sloppy, long, and probably wrong. Lol. I'm just trying to think through this. If you read all this, you're a champ. I'm totally up to discussion afterwards as well. So here it goes below!
======================================
I hadn't heard of it till now, but I'm happy to see it's yet another dnd monster. Last season there was hardly any ties to dnd or the Montauk Project unlike previous two seasons.
I think they may be going back to their roots. So what is Vecna?
Vecna (pronounced: /ˈvɛknɑː/ VEK-nah[1]) was a once-human lich from Oerth who ascended to godhood.
As a deity, Vecna did not claim a domain, but instead wandered the entire multiverse.[15] He maintained the Citadel of Cavitius, originally on the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Ash near the border to the Negative Energy plane, which he had wrested away from the Doomguard long before.[16] The Citadel was used by Vecna as his fortress, which he visited regularly, to gloat on the despair of his defeated enemies.[12] Later, it became his prison as it was drawn into the Domains of Dread by the Dark Powers.
So, I don't believe this has anything to do with the Mind Flayer/Demogorgon/Demodogs, at least, not in dnd canon. But neither does the Demogorgon and Mind Flayer, or the Mind Flayer and an army of doggos. So it's fine and not new.
If I had to guess where they're going with this, Vecna IS the Mind Flayer, but the Mind Flayer and all it smoky glory is more like a projection. A tool which Vecna uses to do whatever. Whether it's controlling its weirdo beasts, possessing people, moving flesh, etc.
I'm assuming the theory that the Upside Down is an alternate universe of sorts is true. The Hawkins we see in the Upside Down is just another Hawkins on a different plane of existence, one that whoever Vecna is originates from or they just dominated it? One that ended earlier?
The part about "later became his prison" is also interesting. It kind of lines up with past seasons. The Mind Flayer does act like it's stuck there and is trying to get out in any way possible doesn't it?
We've been wondering all this time what the Mind Flayer wanted. If something is trapped there, like Vecna, then they'd want to well. Escape. Like a "Crap. I really messed up this world. But at the same time I don't really care to fix it. Onto the next!"
It says he's well versed in multiverses. He can hop to whatever dimension he wants if circumstances are right. Maybe he HAS done that plenty of times, but this time was the first time he was met with his match? (El slamming the door in his smokey face, his chosen vessel Will being rescued)
When I first got into this fandom right after season 2's release, people were still speculating about the other numbers. The comics didn't exist yet, but as time went on, there was something mysterious about the numbers. #1 was never mentioned I think. Not even in the comics. (granted, I stopped reading most of them a while ago so I could be wrong).
If we're toying with multiverses here, the idea that the smallest decisions can have a butterfly affect and change the future, well, who is to say every other possible timeline of Hawkins happened the same way?
======================================
Let me slow down here. I did mention it seems to be going back to their roots. The original Montauk Project Conspiracy theory.
I haven't read the Montauk Project, most of my knowledge comes from articles and summaries by smarter people than I. So let's go over it a little bit huh? (I'll link the article in a reblog, if I link it here, tumblr will hide this post from the tags)
The Montauk Project is a huge government conspiracy crafted by a few old strange guys.
Tumblr media
Sound familiar? Stranger Things (and many Hollywood movies) have taken bits of pieces of this conspiracy and crafted them into their sci-fi/horror stories. Stranger Things shares so many similarities to the original conspiracy theory that some guy claimed the Duffers Brothers stole the idea from him (even though when you read the script the only similarities they have are from the Montauk Project, just like every other Hollywood movie that borrows from it)
Tumblr media
Every theory I've made for Stranger Things, mostly involving Will's potential powers, is based on this conspiracy. There's still some information I was told by someone else second hand that I can't find in these articles so I guess someday I'll have to read it and get the reference myself. Urg.
Let's go over the similarities and why I think the Vecna plot is taken from the Montauk Project conspiracy.
Abducted children: Unsurprising, a key part of the conspiracy is about how kids were abducted. The conspiracy focused on how boys were the desired subjects but that's boring so I'm glad ST ditched that (also, weird Nazi "aryan race genes" bullshit)
Portals: Another similarity are portals to alternate dimensions and timelines. There's some time travel shenanigans that I THINK ST dropped. But with the 1950's era of the 003 trailer, who can say.
A device to enhance powers: This was kind of dropped after season 1, but found its way into the story in other ways. In the Montauk Project conspiracy, they have a device to enhance the powers of their psychic children. A chair. They strap em into the chair and can do various things. Their prized subject, "Duncan" was the one powerful enough to open portals and all that using the chair. The ST equivalent is "The Bath", the silence/static El uses to hone her powers.
Remote Viewing: This is another power El has that is referenced in the conspiracy. Specifically that, “...‘The Seeing Eye.’ With a lock of a person’s hair or other appropriate object in his hand, Duncan could concentrate on the person and be able to see as if he was seeing through their eyes, hearing through their ears, and feeling through their body. He could actually see through other people anywhere on the planet.” This, imo, is more similar to Will's true sight, but I think it's meant to be El's powers.
Summoning a monster: In the Montauk Project conspiracy, they use their prized subject, "Duncan", to summon some kind of beast. The concept is similar to what happened in ST, but El summoned the Demogorgon by accident (as did her captors). In the Montauk Project, it seems as though they summoned the monster on purpose to have an excuse to shut down the experiments.
NOW WITH THAT ALL SAID AND DONE, I'd like to get to a few things that aren't in ST that I think is related to Vecna.
======================================
References to leaving people in other dimensions:
Tumblr media
Quick note, I am NOT going to touch the certain abuse allegations mentioned above.
Here you can see a reference to the idea of leaving people (in this case, defenseless children) in the portals and some of them never returning.
The power to manifest things out of thin air:
Tumblr media
This is not what El does in season 1. She accidentally opens a portal and a monster happened to be on the other side.
Psychic Powers can be jammed:
Tumblr media
This is taken right from the Montauk book. Weren't there references to Will and El hearing things in season 4? It may just be related to this.
Aliens:
Yeah. There's talk about "grey aliens" and how they were the ones that originally kidnapped the children and delivered them to the government I guess??? (the reason I haven't read these books is because overall they make no goddamn sense. lol). I mean, I guess the demogorgon resembles a gray alien right??
Tumblr media
======================================
Sigh. Alright alright. So. It's time for me to try and tie all this together. Bare with me. Are you still along for the ride? Let's try to craft a stupid theory together!
First, let me say this. I love the small town feel in horror movies and sci-fi movies. I don't think this theory breaks that mold, not entirely.
Think of some "horror" movie classics. You got the supernatural horror from Poltergeist. Or the sci-fi horror of The Thing.
In both these stories there's a bigger world, a bigger plot affecting our main characters that they don't totally understand (or don't live long enough to see it through)
In Poltergeist, it was essentially the realm of the spirits who pulled Carol-Anne into their dimension and her mother had to go in and save her. (among the other crazy stuff that happened in that movie). It's very similar to season 1. We don't even see the spirit realm in the movie unlike the Upside Down.
Then you've got The Thing. It's literally an alien story. A horrifying intelligent alien trying to get to a large population of people to spread and spread and spread and when it's done it wants to go to other planets and spread some more. But, this story is only taking place on a base in Antarctica.
What I'm saying is, I think conceptually, this is how the Upside Down should be viewed, as well as the future villain.
I think the future villain is an inhabitant of the Upside Down. I think the Upside Down is an alternate universe of right-side-up Hawkins. But how?
Think of it this way. The Montauk Project/Hawkins Lab... US vs Russia. It's all Cold War crap. And what was the Cold War? It was a period of time where everyone was convinced the world would be destroyed via nuclear wipeout. A world ending calamity.
So think of it this way. What if that did happen in the alternate Hawkins, but it wasn't nuclear death... but a subject/experiment gone awry?
The Montauk Project conspiracy does not shy away from the abuse the abducted children suffered and how mentally broken and damaged they were even after their minds were "wiped".
Imagine a child so abused and angry that they.... with all their might and power... destroyed the world? A vengeful experiment with the power to end the world?
Yes, that is my theory I guess. (ahhhh this sounds so silly I'm sorry). A subject in the alternate Hawkins was so strong he ended that world, and transcended beyond his mortal means. I think this subject could be 001, the one they never mention anywhere else.
But what about the one in the right-side-up in Hawkins? Well, it is al alternate dimension. Every little twitch of the finger can produce a different future. In the right-side-up, this experiment, 001, did not become powerful enough to destroy the world.
But El, 011, sorta did? Or at least, she is the most powerful psychic to come out of the experiments in HER timeline.
001 is the equivalent of the spirit in the Poltergeist movie that kidnaps Carol-Anne.
001 is the equivalent of the alien from The Thing that wants to spread and destroy.
001 is Vecna? Vecna is 001 from an alternate dimension that already destroyed his own world and wants to spread.
You know how we say Kali is the El that let hatred consume her? Well. 001 is the Kali who not only let hatred consume them, but had the power to do something crazy about it.
Hm, I don't believe this contradicts anything that has happened in the previous seasons thus far. Honestly, Vecna+Mind Flayer lore kind of fit together in a way. Powerful entity that has conquered worlds?
So now you ask, "What is 001's power to do that?"
I believe 001's power is the power to manifest objects or anything really. This was the power of the Montauk's Projects main subject, something that El doesn't do.
So a child with the power to manifest anything they want whenever they want. You thought the Demogorgon was bad? Oof.
001 could've done that. Destroyed their world. Became metaphysical. All that jazz.
El could've encountered one of their many creations (the demogorgon) not only by accident, but because of their similar circumstances. Like finding crumbs left behind by someone else.
As for the identity of 001, I don't know. It'd have to be someone older than all the kids. Probably someone closer to Steve or Jonathan/Nancy's age. After all, El is 011. I dunno if they gave Kali an age, but she is still at least 4 to 5 years older than El and she's only 008.
This also leads me to Will. For years, I've questioned why the Demogorgon kinda singled him out. Why why was he chased when he wasn't bleeding. Why when he was caught wasn't he killed like literally everyone else. Why the Mind Flayer was so desperate to have him. All that?
It has lead me to this answer. All these psychic people/things share some similarities and so does Will. Something specific with 001.
Manifesting objects?
You see, in season 2, the Mind Flayer goes into Will in the middle of Will's uncontrollable "True Sight" episodes. But the Mind Flayer comes OUT of Will in the real world.
Will is possessed during a psychic episode, but when the Mind Flayer is yeeted from his physical body, it too is made real.
I dunno, what if the stars aligned for the Mind Flayer/Vecna and he's like "At last. Someone with this specific power that I need to go to this other realm."
Don't get me wrong, Will isn't gonna be closing his eyes and wishing for a bajillion dollars and suddenly it's gonna be made real. It, like True Sight, is probably something he can't control on his own. Maybe if he were an experiment like the others, but he's not.
======================================
SO THERE YOU HAVE IT. MY WHOLE RAMBLING THOUGHT PROCESS.
To summarize again because I think even the tldr kinda sucks:
Vecna is 001 from the Upside Down that destroyed their own world once upon of time and is no longer a thinking feeling human but more like an intelligent force of nature (like a tornado of doom).
Vecna == Mind Flayer, Mind Flayer is just their smokey projection or something.
El is the first time Vecna has encountered someone even close to their power.
Will is a useful tool for spreading/traveling.
The "Vecna" in their world, 001, is probably unlike his alternate self and maybe insane because of the hardships? I dunno.
How do they fix all this crap? I dunno. I guess make sure the government (whether it's the US or Russia) isn't giving him another way in.

You opened the box of Pandora 😘✨ Have fun reading through this block of text. This should cover most of what I’m either actively working on or what whimsical thoughts occupied my mind at some point.
Canon compliant, adjacent or divergent AUs:
First Kiss: fic (posted, there might be a sequel), in which Madara is a 100 year old virgin who never really kissed, never had sex because he was saving himself for Hashirama was too busy scheming for world domination and now gets his firsts stolen by the brat he formed into a lethal weapon who has way more experience than he has :)
Life’s unexpected gifts: fic (in the almost finished limbo state), canon divergent/adjacent AU, Madara and Obito live at the same time, the whole Konoha setting is a bit changed and mixed up, but it’s still a ninja world. A story about loss, love and grieving together. (Sorry to be sparse on details, but spoilers)
Tsukuyomi AU 1 the failed plan: vague idea for long fic (that honestly would be too plot heavy for me to tackle, and thus it got quickly abandoned), Madara succeeds with his plan and Kaguya is not awakened, everything seems to go smoothly until he notices that his plan doesn’t quite work out as he thought. He interrupts Obito’s eternal dream to ask him for help.
Tsukuyomi AU 2: fic (wip, one shot), smut, Obito stumbles into an unexpected scene in Madara’s perfect dream world
Post war AU, everyone lives: basically what the madaobi ask blog is based on. They both survived (by simply not dying lol) and now have to figure out what to do with their life. I have a different flavour of this AU where only Madara is in prison and Obito comes to visit him.
Edo tensei split: crack fic idea, where Madara's soul is split into two bodies when he is revived by the rinne tensei, and one half of his soul remains in the edo tensei form
Soulmate au: fic (wip), Omg they are soulmates and but only one of them knows that (keeping the details because spoilers)
Blind Obito: vague fic idea, basically Obito blinds himself during the war, Madara is there afterwards and takes care of him
Gen Swap AU: a collection of drawings, comics, headcanons, and little fic snippets. I have one one-shot in the works. All details of the general universe are here.
Co-parents AU 1: crack, just an idea. Canon divergent. The Juubi turns into a cute little pet sized version of itself for unknown reasons in the middle of war. Obito and Madara have to figure out how to turn it back so they can go on with their plan. (Alternative version where the Juubi turns into a humanoid child they have to raise 🤣)
Co-parents AU 2: (don’t judge me, similar idea to the first one, but different flavour) Naruto & Co. win the war, but it’s an Everyone Lives AU, including Kaguya who turns into an adorable baby. Guess who has to raise her as part of their atonement.
Eye Love You AU: art exclusive content (so far), canon divergent AU. Madara was fully revived earlier, before Obito made himself the Juubi’s jinchuuriki, and he is not going to accept Obito’s “we’ve never been allies” speech. He takes over the lead in waging the war and also does everything to convince Obito that they’re a team and partners in this. (It’s kinda crack, with how overboard and dramatic Madara’s gestures can be xD) The name comes from the fact that Madara will snatch the sharingan out of Kakashi’s skull and gives it as a token of affection back to Obito after taking back his rinnegan. (A bit yandere, not gonna lie) Romance is stored in the eyeballs, you heard it here first. 👏✨ Later they swap one eyeball again, so that Madara has one of Obito’s eyes and Obito one of Madara’s eyes. They’ll share the jinchuuriki role. :P
Time travel AUs:
Time travel 1/Killer Wedding AU: fic (wip, but 1 chapter published), Obito marries Madara only to try to kill him on their wedding night (it's ambiguous if he actually traveled back in time or if it's an AU where Obito is an Uchiha born into the WS era)
Time Travel 2/royalty AU: fic (wip), one shot, not going into too much detail here because of spoilers, but basically Madara is a warrior king from ancient times and searches for a worthy successor/replacement for himself in the far away future per magical time travel. Doesn't go quite as planned.
Time travel 3 AU: Long fic (wip, I have worked intensively on this), Obito and Madara both go back in time to the warring states era as kids. (No more details, spoilers)
Time Travel AU 4/The Time travelling Boyfriend: art exclusive content (posted on tumblr), just a fun little idea, Obito can jump back and forth in time whenever he wants and becomes Madara’s boyfriend in the past who drops by occasionally. Tobirama is the only one noticing that something is weird here, so he keeps trying to prove time travel is real.
Other AUs that have nothing to do with canon:
All according to plan: published fic, one shot, complete. Modern AU where Madara is involved in sketchy business and has Obito on speed dial to get him out of dire situations whenever he needs it. Obito just wants a normal life (and a good night’s sleep).
Body double AU: fic (wip), Obito gets hired as Madara's body double (no more details because spoilers)
Sensitive to the touch: fic (wip, one shot), modern AU, smut, crack, “- and they were roommates” ;P (not telling more details, spoilers)
"Letting Go" (police au): fic (wip, almost finished), one shot, Madara is the head of the police station, Obito is a troublemaker and ex cop, this one is heavy with feels
Mental hospital AU: fic idea, I wrote out an entire outline in my tumblr drafts but it’s unlikely I will write it out beyond the rough concept since I lack expertise in that field and want to avoid writing something insensitive or cliche. Basically, the entire storyline of Naruto is Obito’s bad fever dream and he wakes up in a mental hospital after his death, wondering if what he experienced was real or not. It felt real, but after he wakes up in this new reality he is also experiencing disorienting episodes of instability that make him question his own sanity. It doesn’t help his state of mind that a man who looks exactly like Madara is another patient but claims to not recognise him. (very toxic AU, psychological horror, gaslighting as in the actual definition of the word)
Happy Birthday: birthday fic I wanted to post for Madara’s bday (wip, one shot), modern au, Obito accidentally misses his boyfriend’s birthday
Space AU: vague fic idea, …probably saucy, Obito is an astronaut travelling to a planet that has been unreachable for a long, looooooooong time because of environmental reasons (in the atmosphere and space surrounding the planet) that made it impossible to land. He encounters a strange lifeform that seems to take a liking to him, but there’s a fun twist here. The creature he first thought to be an intelligent native lifeform is actually the last astronaut who tried to land here and explore the planet….the one who went missing in a tragic accident while landing due to the aforementioned environmental hazards in the atmosphere. The accident that happened centuries ago.
Fake relationship AU: fic (one shot, wip), kinda crack, modern AU, Obito and Madara are married for tax reasons
Vampire AU: multi-chapter fic (wip), Obito is a freshly bitten vampire, Madara is a vampire hunter but he is comparably vampire friendly, due to already being in a relationship with another one. Guess whoooo, it’s Hashirama. (Eventual HashiMadaObiMito; also TobiIzu in the background that have their own fun thing going on)
Pirate AU: fic (length undecided, most likely one shot with open ending), Madara is a pirate captain, Obito is a former member of his crew who returns to him by hiding on his ship. He is discovered and when Madara is about to kill him for his past betrayal, Obito admits he has actually come with an offer, information… and a confession.
Weird Childhood Friends AU: bigger universe that lives mostly in my head, has already two posted pieces of fic (here and here) which DON’T have madaobi in them yet, because MadaObi is the late endgame ship for this AU. Both Obito and Madara have romantic and sexual relationships with other people thorough their life before they eventually get into a relationship with each other. Y’know, like many people in real life. xD It’s a modern AU where they have been childhood friends since kindergarten. I have a whole timeline of events, mostly focused on relationships. Here is one art piece from that AU though that depicts MadaObi.
Grimreaper AU: vague fic idea, Obito has near death experience, sees the grim reaper (yes, it’s Madara), who falls in love with him. After narrowly surviving that, he keeps being haunted by almost lethal accidents. :)
