by now his brother is in seoul busy being a big shot anyway ugh so when eunwoo stumbles over the empty storefront in galleria sunset he pours his savings from the sales he made into opening the vesper lounge, finally something of his own awww look at him 🤕

I was going to wait until I had finished doing all the concept sketches for this but uh, I’m lazy so here take it as it is I’ll keep adding surely surely.

-LONG POST-

AU where the hermits fall into the boatem hole with no way to fly out because of some event that happens - maybe an apocalypse, maybe everyone just goes apeshit, who knows - and they all get messed up heads from falling in the void and passing out n fun stuff like that. They ‘land’ - idk how this would work without them dying lol - in a semi futuristic city which for now let’s just call it Boateqm (silent q). The hermit crabs would also fall at different rates therefore appear in the city at different times. So where do they end up?

Hospital gang:

Etho wakes up in a hospital bed with no memories - most of them will wake up with no memories btw - his doctor/nurse (this hospital may be understaffed) Tango asks him a bunch of questions then has to go see another patient. Etho is seen by a certain Bdubs who had just finished visiting his buddy Scar -will get to him next- in the bed next door. Bdubs walks back to notify Scar, a fashion designer, that the guy in the bed across would make a great model, just look at the striking hair! And the red eye! He opens the curtains on the side and Scar gets a look. He asks if Etho would like to be hired. Etho is to say the least very confused and on the verge of a panic attack that never quite seems to happen so he’s in a weird kind of limbo anyway it is now that his doctor/nurse Tango comes back and having overheard the conversation suggests it would be a good idea. The hospital can only take custody of Etho for so long, might as well start earning money now so he doesn’t become homeless. Etho is still very confused. So Tango just agrees to the job for him as his caretaker lol, and besides Scar comes here kinda often so Tango trusts him. Anyway Etho’s true passions he discovers are synthesisers, breeding horses with Bdubs and finding elaborate ways to do tax evasion. A simple man.

Scar is in the hospital because he got SCAR (hehe) from walking into a glass door in his super fancy house, which he owns because he’s a super fucking rich fashion designer of his own label Scara (this is not the first time he’s walked into a glass door). Scar refuses to go to a rich people hospital tho cause 1) he cares about healthcare and wants more funds to go to lower grade hospitals 2) Tango is his mate, and needs a goddam raise. But yeah, very successful, ran for mayor once but someone really didn’t like that which resulted in another hospital visit. Mans in the wars. One hospital visit he got really inspired by the fabric and stuff there so he had a line of clothes that were hospital inspired one time, in turn making hospital inspired garb very trendy for a bit. What a mad lad. Ideas man. Some would call him a genius if he didn’t keep on walking into glass doors n shit. Scar woke up in the back room of a small tailoring shop owned by a nice old couple who took him under their wing. He thanks them in every award speech, and whenever he’s in the area make sure to stop by and give them presents. His side hobby is gardening.

When Tango came to, he was lying on the footpath of a quiet street in the suburbs just out from the main city. Gorgeous day, golden hour, pretty houses, very aesthetic. He also had a leg injury, fuck. So Tango did what anyone would do: hobbled to the nearest house, asked in the nicest way he could under a lot of stress (so he kinda yelled) for a first aid kit, and performed surgery on himself atop the nice families dinner table. The nice family turned out to have called the police and an ambulance, who showed up just as Tango was wrapping up his leg with a bandage and took him away to the police on a stretcher. This debacle got him a leading story on the local newspaper: ‘Man performs surgery on himself after waking up with no memories and a leg injury’. After being questioned by the police, they decide they can’t really charge someone with amnesia and no money with anything like breaking and entering (he did knock and they did let him in) or property damage (blood on the carpet). The paramedics are stunned at his surgery, so they tell the police to take him to the nearest hospital and get him hired there, he could save so many lives. He gets hired by the head doctor after an examination of the surgery. The head doctor doesn’t really care that Tango doesn’t have any records or anything, the hospital is understaffed and Tango seems like an Angel sent down from the heavens to him. Tango is very very good at his job. So good that he gets offered a job at a far better paying hospital which he takes, then soon drops because he prefers the chaos of his old job much better.

Tango found Impulse extremely dehydrated, looking like death, wandering outside his flat one night, so he carried the man inside and saved his life. Now they are flat mates, and Impulse works in a tech store - an upgrade from working at a service station previously.

Bdubs woke up in an inner city park at night, homeless, broke, and in the company of other homeless and broke people. He built his way to success, got luckily hired by some rich asshole to mow their lawns plural - the rich asshole didn’t ask much questions, he just saw a poor man criticising the way a park had been landscaped to an old guy in a caravan and though it was good enough, seeing as the last one quit - and Bdubs didn’t mind too much, because the rich assholes property was really gorgeous. Once Bdubs was able to say he had work experience and wasn’t homeless he started babysitting the kids in the neighbourhood, pretty good money. Plus the kids love him, and everyone he meets loves him, he's just a nice guy. He met Scar because he had to purchase a suit for a kids birthday party, so he went to the cute little tailors shop he always walked past on the way to his favourite cute little gardening supplies shop. By now Bdubs had been promoted to part time gardener - the job is shared - and started working on and off at a building firm. They become besties, turns out Scar is also really into gardening etc etc. Eventually Bdubs becomes an architect, mainly designing for city contractors n such but occasionally designer homes, like the one he did for Scar.

Mumbo and Grian wake up in the hospital around the same time that Etho is still there, however Etho has been awake longer, and should really find a place to stay soon now that he’s got a steady job. Since - ok plot point here - the two are in the exact situation that Etho found himself in, he starts to feel like something weird is going on. Mumbo and Grian take a lot longer to recover than Etho did, and the two become hospital bed neighbor buddies. When they finally recover Scar offers them a temporary place to stay at his house while they find work. Tango gets Impulse to put in a good word for Mumbo at his work.

Nomads:

TFC is an old man who lives in a caravan off the money he made being a very successful miner, he now collects pretty shiny rocks and gems and stuff to give to kids. He’s like an all year round caravan Santa and wise old mystical figure. Dope.

Joe is a humble man who likes to wander. He’s never had a home, but if he needs anything he’ll go to TFC’s caravan or a homeless shelter or something. But he isn’t sad or anything, he really likes the freedom of being a simple wanderer.

Others:

Keralis is a business partner of Bdubs. Kerlalis is mega stonks. He was one of the first to land, had a big diamond in his pocket, bought shares in a company that blew up soon after and now he is really fucking rich.

Doc and Ren are the only ones who remember anything, and they arrive at the same time. Doc manages to keep his cool, but Ren loses his shit and gets thrown in a mental institution. Doc spends some time trying to get Ren out, and after a final success and laying low for a bit the two seek to bring all the hermits together.

Pearl ends up working in Bdubs building company.

Beef works in a music shop -sells records and instruments- and he starts up a record label out back after his boss retires and passes the shop onto him.

And yeah I don’t really know the other Hermits that well was hoping some of ya’ll could help me find places for them in this city :) don’t really know how to format this either so maybe some input would be nice, just wanted to get the idea out hehehe

You look in the mirror one last time at your costume and sigh. You really didn’t want to go out but since it’s the company Halloween party you’re obligated to show up at least. You smooth down the ripples in your costume, having been stuffed in the closet for a year it had some edges that weren’t there before. The lazy side of you didn’t care to fix the pink princess gown. Carol got you this costume last year as a joke and now here you are not wanting to waste any of your money on another costume. She is going to laugh at you for at least 15 minutes. You grab your purse off of your bed and see the collar Natalia gave you on your bedside drawer. It’s been four months since you’ve seen the woman who’s changed your life forever. You miss her terribly and hoped to see her soon. With one last longing look at the collar you make your way out of your house. You take an Uber to the party knowing you were going to get drunk after you set up your two friends. Carol has been single and not wanting to look for anything serious…not after you. However you know for a fact your secretary Wanda has the hots for Carol and poor Carol has been too chicken to do anything about it. Your goal tonight is to somehow get them to realize their perfect chemistry. The car drops you off in front of Tony’s mansion, you bid the driver good night and make your way inside. The pounding of the speakers makes your head ache already. You quickly make your way to the bar ordering the strongest drink they had.

“Hey stranger, drinking already!” You nearly jump out of your skin when Carol screams into your ear. You take a big gulp as her arm slings around your shoulders.

“I need to be drunk to hang out with you!” You see her face scrunch up in mock hurt as you laugh- your laughter being drowned out by the music. She tightens her hold on you and leads you outside where the music turns into a muffled sound. 

“I will say, I’m a little drunk right now. Otherwise I would be laughing so hard at your costume.” You roll your eyes and take a sip of your drink.

“What the fuck are you supposed to be anyways?” Your eyebrows furrow as you see her dressed in what she would normally wear. You admit you’re a bit upset that she didn’t dress up as well. Carol smirks and points to a sticker on the left side of her chest. You lean closer and squint.

“Hello, my name is God,” You straighten up and smack her on the shoulder as she breaks out into laughter “what a lazy costume, Carol. I expected more from you.” She smirks and is about to speak when you two are interrupted.

“Hey Y/N, Carol.” You both turn to see Wanda by the door dressed as an angel. How appropriate.

“That’s a cute costume, Wanda. Don't you think, Carol?” You see Carol try to form words in her mind and you giggle slightly. Wanda looks at you curiously.

“What’s going on out here. Did I interrupt anything?” You quickly shake your head and walk up to Wanda grabbing her arm. You pull her closer to Carol and step back.

“Not at all, Wan. I’d say you’re just in time! Carol here came as God and you’re an angel. I’d say this is a match made in Heaven. Wouldn’t you?” Carol blushes as red as Wanda’s hair, Wanda blushes as well. Carol grins sheepishly and looks to Wanda. You take this as your que to go and make your way back inside. You immediately regret your decision and down the rest of your drink before making your way upstairs. You knew Tony had a library and you thought maybe you could read for a bit then leave inconspicuously. The music dies down a little the further up you go. You’re walking down a long hallway when you hear a muffled scream. You slowly walk up to the door where you heard the noise and press your ear up against it. You hear two voices, muffled but you can sort of make some words out.

“Who...you…work... for!” Your brows furrow at the half made out question. You hear what could only be described as a crunch and another muffled scream. You flinch and your mind a little hazy already from the alcohol makes your next move a careless one. You knock on the door and silence follows.

“Everything okay in there? Is this some kinky sex if so just say so and I’ll move on!” You hear some struggling happening before the door opens and out walks Tony, who was sweating profusely.

“Hey, you okay Tony? You look a little pale.” He breathes out a shaky laugh and makes a quick exit throwing you a look over his shoulder.

“I’m fine, Y/N. You should go home now.” You’re confused at his hasty behavior for all of two seconds.

“The party’s just getting started though, princess, you can’t leave.” You gasp as you see Natalia leaned against the doorway. All questions leave your mind as you jump into her arms, wrapping yours tightly around her neck. She breathes you in as her arms wrap around your middle. You hum as she kisses your neck.

“I’ve missed you, Nat. Where have you been?” She pulls away and walks back into the room, which you now realize is one of the guest bedrooms. You follow her lead and see a chair in the middle of the floor.

“Did you… torture Tony?” She pulls the chair to face you and sits down. Natalia’s face hardens at the question. You stand before her as she processes what she should tell you.

“Well, kitten. I’ve been told that there is an organization after me. That what I’m doing should end-including my life.” You pout and straddle her lap, wrapping your arms around her neck. You leave kisses all over her face until she breaks out into laughter. You smile and pull away after giving her a kiss on the lips.

“Why would anyone want to kill you?” Her hands make their way up your dress, rubbing your thighs.

“So many people, kitten. I have a lot of red in my ledger and they’re trying to wipe me out. It’s why I’m gone for long periods of time. I can’t stay in one place for too long.” You smile sadly and squeeze the back of her neck.

“So this was a freak occurrence? Were you not going to visit me at all?” She hesitates at your look of absolute sadness. Her hands squeeze your thighs before she kisses your cheek. 

“I’m not too sure, kitten. It all depended on what I got out of Tony.”

“And what did you get?” She sighed and leaned her head back.

“Nothing. Absolutely fucking nothing.” You hum and start to kiss her neck up to her ear.

“Do you think Tony has a secret club that takes out assassins? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, Mommy.” She groans as you suck her earlobe into your mouth.

“He knows something, kitten. Your boss isn’t at all what he seems.” You nibble on her earlobe before pulling away.

“If you say so, Nat. Can we just forget about that and enjoy this moment? A moment that may not have happened if it wasn’t for my curiosity.” She smirks and slips her left hand closer to your center.

“What is it you want, kitten?” You whimper as her fingers trace the edge of your underwear.

“I want you, Mommy. Always.” Natalia hums and pushes your underwear to the side, gliding her fingers through your wet folds.

“Fuck, I forgot about the stupid party.” Natalia chuckles and stands up picking you up and placing you down on your feet as well.

“One dance, kitten. Then I have to leave again.” You pout and hug her close, snuggling into her neck.

“You don’t have a costume though, Nat.” She rolls her eyes and pecks your lips.

“I’m your knight in matte armor, princess.” You hum and pull away from her, grabbing her hand and leading her downstairs.

“Perfect, who needs shiny armor anyway?” On the dance floor she holds you closer than ever before. A part of you thinks it’s because she’s scared, scared she’s put her trust in you too soon.

okay so much is going on i wish i hadnt spoiled who certain characters actually are for myself but i have no one to blame but me for a) not blacklisting spoilers at all and b) just having a little freefall through the tags. oh well. anyway heavenly college admissions scandal except way worse. the corruption extends to the heavens and the windmaster is having a very bad day

im gonna keep it real im getting tired of how often we get told how handsome hua cheng is. i know its all xie lian’s pov and while im not terribly familiar with it i know what genre we’re working with and im assuming thats pretty typical. its something i dont much care for in general and idk maybe it sounds better in the original but ngl its starting to make me roll my eyes. love you goth king but god okay we get it.

i guess what i will say about hualian so far is that overall i like them and i like how they interact in general they have a lot of nice moments and they just genuinely seem to like each other which is really nice to see EXCEPT for when it actually comes to things that could be romantic or sexual which is a shame bc i dont think it has to be like this. again disclaimer that im only reading a translation and dont know everything might not have all the knowledge necessary to accurately criticize etc etc and im assuming a lot of this is expected from the genre (disclaimer to this disclaimer that i cant say that for sure its just based on things ive picked up about the bl genre over the years) but idk like xie lian was so distressed after their underwater kiss scene. it was kind of uncomfortable to read and maybe im being unfair i know his cultivation is based around abstinence or whatever but idk i dont care for it. and that scene alone doesnt have to be a bad thing like idk i guess its his first kiss ever (?) and it would make sense if he feels weird about it but i just have my doubts thats going to be addressed or resolved in a satisfying way. also im like. dude everyone is like centuries old. xie lian’s been on earth for 800 years. has he really never met or heard of a gay person during all this time? maybe he hasnt idk what he got up to yet maybe that’s actually a thing. also same thing with the reactions from the immortals to xie lian in a dress and characters like the windmaster like again you’re all centuries old and its not uncommon to be able to just completely change gender presentation. why are you all weird about a man wearing a woman’s dress? i just feel like that shouldnt be a big deal to these characters idk

also again not going to lie part of this that im not really a big fan of reading romance in general. yes i am reading this book. yes i do read and write a lot of fanfic that includes or centers romance. im multifaceted. but really what im talking about is the like physical side of it and descriptions im extremely picky about it. ill give an example. early on in the torture pit (or whatever it was called i cant remember lol) when xie lian kind of accidentally felt up hua cheng in the dark when he was being carried. i dont think thats a bad thing to have happen between the two romantic leads i think thats fine and good to include that early but i just did not enjoy reading it when it happened idk maybe it was the wording and i do think that moments like these work better in a visual medium. ive definitely read het romance that reads like this and i wasnt a fan of that either lol same with fanfic i get tired when writers go on and on about how hot one characters finds another character. this isnt a huge criticism of it like i said im picky but again like with the way that hua cheng is described it just makes me roll my eyes sorry kings

okay back to the reading. this whole saving the fishermen thing feels like a big set up for something narrative-wise. hua cheng specifically insisted on coming and i know one of the characters involved ends up dying im wondering if thats now it would be a good time tbh if things get just a bit too unfortunate during this heavenly calamity... and the brothers are notably not having a harmonious time... also tho it feels very likely we’ll just have another Hualian Moment (tm)

okay kiss #2 again its not the kisses themselves its xie lian’s reaction it just bothers me idk im not saying i need him to be super into it and completely unconflicted about it rn but he’s just so freaked out about it and idk i just dont really like it just feels weird i dont care for that aspect of it. also dude hua cheng is a ghost and he did this exact same thing for you before just chill. i wish instead of xie lian literally running away while screaming that hes sorry he was just like “oh haha youre fine thats cool im gonna go look around the woods i dont feel weird about this at all haha” like idk its kind of funny but when its literally our two romantic leads i just feel like its confusing like it kind of makes me feel like they shouldnt be together if one of them freaks out this much again considering the fact that they are both CENTURIES old. i know i know xie lian is an 800 year old virgin but. he hasn’t been like this about anything else so yeah idk like it still could have been awkward and funny i just dont think it needed to be so :/ that being said it was funny that xie lian was then internally like “oh i did it wrong? perhaps i should ask him for more.. instructions....” if that actually happens i might like it bc it would complete this little watery theme

also i do think that oblivious xie lian thinking “wow whoever it is that hua cheng fancies is an idiot for not liking him back theyre totally taking him for granted :/” is kind of funny and sweet. actually the whole conversation they have at the campfire is good and im bookmarking it to think about later

Then like two weeks later LY: Tear came out and I was obsessed so yeah!!
