Let's combine your most common AUs
Instead of a teddy bear, 5 year old Danny has a plushy eastern dragon when he has his portal accident
Alternately, teen Danny gains the power to turn into a bear. Maybe an Ursa from MLP:FiM. Aragon probably still wants him for being a magic star bear in that case
Forgive me for the late response.
Hm, a two in one that I'm not sure which to do, so why not both!
Danny's favorite mythical creature was the eastern dragon, so much so that he begged his parents for a plushy of one for his birthday, they ordered one, and then he got one.
He's only ever been so happy when he found out about the wonders of space.
Despite his parents multiple attempts at trying to get him involved in Ghosts, he's just been spending his time playing around with his plush imagining both of them flying through space on super dangerous missions or exploring.
Of course, the one time he was interested in one of his parents inventions was because they said that the place they were trying to get too was basically like space.
As in, they meant the vastness of it and the unexplored territory.
But Danny took it as that it actually was space, and got extremely excited over it, much to his parents glee because he was finally showing interest in their work.
None of them could have guessed the fate that would befall such an interest, however.
An amount of time later, when his parents and sister were dead asleep, Danny sneaked his way down into the lab. Bypassing the security systems by using the methods he watched his parents do, not that they were sneaky with it, but they probably didn't expect him to remember them either.
So, in the dark of the lab, flashlight in hand, dragon plush in the other. He approached the portal. His parents said it was incomplete, but looking at it he didn't really see anything wrong with it, something about a power source and a few kinks they had to iron out that he booted from his mind. So, Dany stepped inside, just to look around, then he saw a random hole (where a button is supposed to be) and then, with his brilliant 5-year-old mind and under zero adult supervision, stuck his flashlight inside it to look around.
Such was the case of it somehow turning on, zapping Danny, his plush, and his flashlight all at once and remaking him into the body of a plush dragon boyo.
He was ecstatic at first when he found himself his plush toy because its cool, confused the next because he was glowing, even more so confused when he looked around and saw green and floating islands.
This wasn't space.
He didn't know how to get home, so he went exploring to try and find one.
===
Never has Danny so hated yet loved an ability of his.
Turning into a bear was never on his list of things he thought would ever happen to him, despite having fought an alternate him from a different timeline. Danny just, never thought that far about things like this.
Of course, an instant plus for him was that there were literal stars floating around inside his body and, if he concentrated enough, he would be able to form any constellation he wanted to!
The size was another plus, along with the physical strength that came with it. He could literally look down on anyone he wanted to, which is always good in his opinion.
Of course, the part he hated came in the form of an enemy previously forgotten and discarded, coming back for round 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. Trying to force him into a marriage.
Recently, he's just been slapping the guy around for a bit because leaving. But Prince Aragon was many things, surprisingly persistent was one of them, even if Danny could always be sure of his victory, it was annoying to the farthest reaches of space and back how many times he keeps coming back.
Of course, Danny had to vamoosh as soon as Prince Aragon came close to beating him even once, which is way too many times in his opinion. Hell, he even got Vlad of all people to help him cover for him when he went on the escape (how Jazz managed to do it, he would never know).
He eventually ended up in some random mountain, that's surprisingly furnished as if someone lived here, yet also extremely dusty and rundown as if it was abandoned. Then he decided, hey, why not just live here?
He just needed to fix it up a bit, which was require him to be human-ish (same as Dragon Danny, except this time with the bear paws, ears, tail and that) to get at the places that need a smaller and more dexterous hand.
Eventually, he did manage to clean up the place to relatively working order! Maybe replace some things, like that TV, but all in all he's happy with what he did!
What he wasn't happy with however, is these random people pulling up to his place and calling it their base.

Okay so I was thinking about ToE and had ideas to add for my Not Today Destiny AU(tl:dr, Kai keeps Lloyd’s Green Ninja status secret from everyone and how canon is affected from there)
Also, before we get into it, because there was no Overlord messing with tech, THERE IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE! I am fully subscribed to the theory that the Overlord messed with it in order to split the team up, and it’s stupid that it worked. So no Love Triangle and no Jay Cole Fight. That’s important later.
ANYWAY, with Zane not dead they’d be a bit less desperate to go to the island, and without that incentive of keeping quiet they’d probably immediately go talk to Wu about this weird invite and the fact that other Elemental Masters existed.
Wu would fill them in, explain how Chen was definitely up to something, which has them all go in the first place, and Nya and Wu agree to stay behind to watch Lloyd and defend against Garmadon.
How does this exactly tie into this AU? Well, there were two extra letters sent, one to Kai and Lloyd respectively.
Lloyd’s letter explained how he was also being invited, and if he won he would be awarded some info about his mom. Lloyd knows the ninja would never let him go, so he opts to sneak there and then explain. Better to ask apologies than permission. But don’t worry, he left a note for Nya and Wu
Meanwhile, Kai’s explains how they have found knowledge of who the Green Ninja is, and if he wins he’ll get that info and can do whatever he wants with it.
These two are connected and also important later.
They go to the boat, Nya gets them some hidden trackers to be safe, Kai is secretly freaking out since “How the heck does Chen know???” and then Lloyd sneaks on too. Now, at first everyone just thinks Lloyd is just really short and keeps to himself. It’s not until they land and get to the main room that it finally clicks to Kai that it’s Lloyd when Chen points him out as the Master of Energy.
He of course, is very not happy that Lloyd is here and makes that very well known. The other ninja are equally unhappy while the rest of the EM’s are given a slight Moral Dilemma since yes they want to win, but that means there’s a chance of them fighting a literal child(it’s been….almost a year since they first met Lloyd so he’s about 10 right now).
Lloyd’s room is next to Kai’s, just on the other side so he still shares a balcony space with Skylor. Maybe one of the other EM’s finds Lloyd desperately looking for a Jade Blade and “accidentally” drops it so he can pass.
Later when Karlof is dropped through the floor more than a few cast a glance over to Lloyd, each silently dreading who will have to go against him. Nobody comments when Kai holds Lloyd close and if anyone saw Lloyd sneaking into Kai’s room that night, they didn’t say anything.
It’s that night when Lloyd explains why he came, which makes Kai panic even more. On one hand, he cannot let anyone else find out about Lloyd’s Destiny. But on the other….Lloyd could finally get answers for what happened to his mom unlike Kai who has no idea what happened to his parents
So yeah. Not a fun time.
But it only gets worse from there.
You see, at first each of the ninja let out a silent sigh of relief when they learned they wouldn’t have to fight Lloyd.
Wellllllllll since there’s no Love Triangle and no fighting between Cole and Jay, Chen has no reason to pit them against each other to further split up the ninja.
What he does instead? Changes things so instead it’s Kai vs Lloyd
Now, it’s plainly obvious to everyone that those two are very close, so they’re not looking froward to this next fight at all. Camille honestly isn’t sure if this is better or worse than if she had to go against him
At first, their fight is mostly a verbal one, trying to get the other to take the Jade Blade, with only the occasionally very wide shot to try and herd the other toward the Blade. At some point Kai ends up physically picking up Lloyd and trying to carry him over to the Jade Blade, yelling about how Lloyd has a chance to find his mom and he shouldn’t that up, but Lloyd is fighting him and immediately yells back that he doesn’t want to find her at the cost of his Big Brother and god if that isn’t a knife in the heart of the other EMs.
But Chen, being the bastard he is, decides this is boring because it’s going no where and release the bikes like canon, and then these two fight like a well oiled machine.
But ofc, we can’t have nice things and the arena starts falling apart.
And Kai….as much as he’s terrified of Lloyd’s Destiny, he even more terrified of loosing Lloyd.
So with a bright smile and a good luck wish, he jumps.
That night when Chen takes away their rooms as punishment, none of them can be mad. They don’t comment either when the remaining ninja drag two of the bunk beds together a curl up around Lloyd. Instead of splitting them apart, it only lets them know that Chen is not their friend. He sees all of this as a game, going as far as to lure a child here with promises of finding his mother and making him fight the family he has left.
This actually makes their Elemental Alliance work out better this time.
(Also this time Jay fought Ash, then Cole fought Camille(I’m also 99% sure the skating thing was just another attempt to split them up, so again it’s kinda useless here).
Meanwhile Kai does not have a fun time. Clouse is upset since 1) the plan was for Lloyd to be the one to loose, either by Kai winning or making Lloyd fall, since because he’s the green ninja he’s bound to be powerful and 2) because Skylor got attached to this stranger and Chen ordered him to make Kai useful to them. So now he’s trying to keep a very annoying, very loud prisoner while waiting from the Master of Mind to be captured so he can use those powers to make Kai more docile.
Unfortunately, a side affect of Kai being as loud and obnoxious as possible means he spends a lot of his time knocked out, so he has no idea how long he’s been stuck under or if any of his family are stuck under here too. At the very least he shares a wall with Karlof who tries his best to fill him in(when he learns who Kai was made to fight he also gets pretty pissed).
Later when they’re all dropped from the plane, all of them are quick to make sure Lloyd has a parachute. This time the objective is to a “Safe Zone,” but there’s only enough for four of them. However, the Safe Zones are, unsurprisingly, traps and there’s enough for everyone. Once you step in one, it descends, then vengestone cuffs fly out and trap the Master inside.
Skylor ends up finding Lloyd and offers to help him look for one. They end up talking and joking, Lloyd saying how Kai has an enormous crush on her and kept trying to impress her, but Lloyd thought she was good and would like Kai if they didn’t need to fight each other, which accidentally slams her with guilt.
Some how she ends up slipping, maybe by accidentally revealing how she knows the locations/number of traps and Lloyd realizes she’s the spy which crushes him. He tries to fight her but she just pushed him onto the trap.
Going to the small cult area below, the remaining EMs are brought together. They try their best to keep Lloyd protected but he’s brought to the front anyway. Lloyd asks if they even knew about his mom, to which Chen reminisces about a woman they meet a few years ago who was stealing from them and how they stole some of her things, but they were mostly worthless. They honestly have no idea where she is, which just makes Lloyd mad.
Mad these people tricked him. Mad these people had the audacity to pretend to know his mom. Mad these people made Kai sacrifice himself for him.
However, they weren’t lying About having met Misako. That’s actually how they found out about the whole “Lloyd Being The Green Ninja” thing
But anyway. Chen steals their powers, Skylor is having a moral dilemma, and they start getting ready to Make Trouble in the Noodle Factory
Only this time when they go to steal the staff, they now have to fight Kai.
Only this time for real.
This is the replacement for the Staff Scene. Because of his affect under the Staff Kai…..isn’t really there. Like, he’s just a blank puppet. There’s the tiniest amount of emotion, but his eyes look empty.
At some point the staff goes flying and it turns into a mental tug of war between Clouse commanding Kai and Lloyd and the others trying to get through to him. Lloyd is luckily able to get to Kai enough for him to smash the jewel, releasing the EM powers and the control on him. It gives him the worst headache though.
And from there, canon is mostly the same for a while. The whole time this has been going on Zane has been having dreams/nightmares about an Ice Dragon and finally makes the connection to unlock it. Skylor is still captured, Chen still escapes but now Clouse is still around, Pythor is captured, TIME FOR THE END
This time around, the EMs are able to follow Chen to their base of operations and have the final battle there. They fight, and even though they’re only partially Anacondrai, they’re still hard to fight.
Clouse tries to do the whole “Banish You To the Departed Realm” thing, but accidentally summons the Anacondrai Generals as well, who are very not happy over what these humans are doing.
And yeah. That’s what I got.
I might do more in depth posts for some of the other seasons, not sure. But feel free to ask or submit ideas of your own

Chapter title: you should see me in a crown
You should see me in a crown Your silence is my favorite sound Watch me make 'em bow One by, one by one
Here's: Marinette and Kagami didn't expect the transformation to be so outrageously obvious.
Of course, Diana had warned the teenagers that it could happen, but- again, they didn't think it would be so drastic. The growing pains had been, well, a pain. A brutal one.
If Marinette was being bitter, she would blame Tikki for this happening to her and her miraculous partners, but she knew for a fact that it was not the fault of the kwamis for this lack of information.
It was the first time since the world was created, that the miraculous were given to literal children. So, for that reason the side effects were something unknown. But they believed that they had already discovered all the effects after five years wielding the jewelry.
Diana was able to destroy any idea they had about it, since none of them noticed the biggest and most obvious side effect of the miraculous:
They were trapped in underdeveloped bodies for seventeen/eighteen-year-olds teenagers. And that wasn't just because their genetics made them look more youthful, no. The active use of Ladybug’s cure was slowing the aging journey of the other heroes, as they were the hardest hit by healing magic.
So, when Diana - Wonder Woman - invited the miraculous female team to Themyscira to correct this problem with the Amazons, Marinette, Kagami, Chloe and Alix did not hesitate to accept.
The men's team had already been invited by Arthur Curry - Aquaman - because men were not allowed on Themyscira, but also because training with Arthur would be more ideal for them than that of the Amazons.
Zatanna encouraging and assuring the heroes that she would maintain a blocking spell throughout Paris to prevent Hawkmoth from acting.
They left their homes with an excuse to travel the world. Adrien was a little more difficult to get out of Gabriel's claws, but in the end, with Bruce Wayne's call, Adrien was able to leave Paris alone with friends. They were ready.
That's when Marinette suffered.
Starting with all the miraculous having to be resigned in order for the effect of magic to expunge faster, the box being kept safe in Themyscira. And then with the infernal training that the Amazons put them through.
Before, Marinette and Kagami prided themselves on being the most agile and sharp in the fights against akumas, but being in Themyscira showed that they did not even reach the feet of the youngest warriors in the island.
So, it was already clear that if Kagami and Marinette were having problems, Chloe and Alix felt death touching their souls with affection.
(The boys also suffered in those months in Atlantis. Arthur was not at all merciful in teaching them.)
Anyway, when the two and a half month mark reached, the physical changes were simply too glaring to go through a simple growth spurt.
Marinette never envied Chloe and Alix so much for not being predisposed to be tall naturally.
Of all four, Marinette grew the most in height without the influence of the miraculous. She may or may not have cried when she reached 5'11” with Kagami and Hippolyta said she would still grow a few inches.
She didn't care much for stretch marks on her joints, but she complained about the growing pains. Kagami was not very vocal, but the grimaces of pain she let out did not let anyone be fooled.
But even with the pain, the teachings and the struggles, Marinette was happy that they were finally having the right mentoring to guide them. Fu had left very early, much of his knowledge was not passed on.
○○○
After almost struggling to free Marinette from Chloe, they left the blonde sleeping on the brunette's bed while she showered.
Alix ate a croissant, Damian and Luka talked about strategies against Hawkmoth and Plume.
"I already talked to Zatanna and she will release the blocking barrier in three days, just so Hawkmoth doesn't suspect anything." Damian looked at Alix, attracting the young woman's attention. "It would be very suspicious if the barrier was broken just on the same day that Dupont's classes returned."
Alix nodded in agreement. "Did she say anything about tracking the miraculous?"
Luka sighed despondently. "No. She will probably only make it when they are active, meaning- “
"We will have to wait for Plume and Hawkmoth to attack again to get any leads."
Marinette came into the room, fully dressed - a black skater dress with the pattern of delicate cherry blossoms, reaching a few inches above the knee, v-neck and short sleeves; white liner socks - and dry hair stuck in a messy bun, leaving the bangs framing the pretty face.
Luka and Damian swallowed at the glorious sight. She managed to be strong and cute at the same time. And it destroyed them so good.
"He should attack as soon as he feels the barrier is gone." Alix replied and it took both of them out of inappropriate thoughts. Marinette's knowing look showed that she knew exactly where the boyfriends' minds ran.
"And that is why we will be making a war council in half an hour." She reached for the pair of white sneakers on the shoe rack and tucked them in her feet, the laces already tied. “Everyone has already been warned. I will be delivering the miraculous and we will make plans on how to take down Hawkmoth for good.”
"... But first we have to wake Chloe." Luka points. "Who's going to be the unlucky one?"
○○○
After managing to wake Chloe without resulting in a murder, they were quick to leave Marinette's home for Fu's massage parlor, the current headquarters of the miraculous team and where Zatanna had lived for three months when they were away.
"We are here, losers!" Alix announced pompously.
Upon arriving, they found Adrien talking to Jon in a corner; Max, Tim and Barbara on the computer browsing documents that appeared to be important; Félix and Kagami sat at the big table - which Adrien insisted on calling the round table and Marinette found it unnecessary - analyzing a detailed hologram of the streets of Paris.
No sign of Kim or Zatanna yet.
The entry of the five drew everyone's attention; Tim and Felix's eyes doubled in size as they focused on Marinette.
"What the hell, Mari?!" Tim choked on his words.
"This is what I call transformation." Barbara commented amusedly.
“Everyone has undergone drastic changes, Drake. I'm sure you didn't react that way when you saw the others.” Marinette replied.
"Of course not! Nobody came here looking like an Amazon.”
Kagami coughed against the fist, eyebrow raised.
"Okay, I take back what I said." Tim raises his hands in surrender. "But you have to agree with me, Marinette is the most surprising change here."
Adrien nodded frantically in agreement. “When you showed up at school earlier, everyone was shocked. I hardly recognized you.”
Max and Felix scoffed. "Yes, we noticed the warm looks you were shooting at Mari." Max pointed out causing Adrien to choke in embarrassment.
“Oh, is that so? Interesting." Damian murmured, a frankly murderous look on his face. He had already taken the seat next to Felix.
"What? No! You got it wrong.” Adrien stammered, his cheeks red.
“Okay, Adrien. I'm not jealous." Luka said. The malicious curve in the corner of his mouth making it clear that the musician was loving seeing the model turn into a hot mess in front of everyone.
"Luka!" Adrien groaned painfully and turned to Jon. “You know it's not true, right? Everyone knows that I only have eyes for you.” He pouted.
The brunette put his arm around the blonde's waist, bringing him a little closer. “Of course, I know dear. I totally trust my charm.” He winked seductively; Adrien's blush only growing in intensity.
The two of them seeming to forget that their friends were there.
"Ugh, nobody deserves to watch these two making out with their eyes." Chloe moaned on the chair, still drowsy and irritated at being woken up.
"Think on the bright side!" Marinette said happily.
"What would it be...?"
"At least this time they are dressed and aware that there are other people in the room." Kim replied upon entering.
"... I think we better split them up before they really forget we're here." Kagami pointed a finger at the two boys who had started a kiss in a way that, in her opinion, should be inappropriate for people under fifty.
"Does anyone have a spray bottle?" Damian asked.
And Marinette stopped to analyze the physical changes in her team.
So, the fact was: yes, Marinette was the person with the greatest physical change among the miraculous group. Because in addition to the height, she got muscles (which she didn't have before). It wasn't something like a body builder would be, but it also made it clear that she had a pretty intense exercise routine.
Kagami had also grown a lot, losing to Mari by just a few inches. Even before wielding the dragon's miraculous, she had already developed some muscle due to the intense fencing routine; so, the only things that had changed was the increase in body mass around the shoulders, biceps and calves.
Alix didn't grow much, just two inches from what she was before, and the muscles in her body hadn't been developed as visibly as the two asian girls. She had a better definition, elasticity and mobility had improved dramatically.
Chloe was the only one of the four parisian heroines who had no visible change. She remained thin and flexible, with no pronounced hard muscles. Diana had said that the blonde's body was the type that hid her power. The deceptive, fragile type, but who was agile and fatal. Which suited Chloe.
Of the boys, the shock had been Damian. Damian, who, like Marinette, was one of the smallest on the team - followed by Alix and Max - reached his desired height of 6’3”; surpassing both Bruce and Jason, the tallest in the Wayne family.
But that didn't surprise Marinette or Tim, since Damian's parents were both quite tall. They hoped that eventually Damian would start to grow like a weed.
Anyway. While Damian did not grow muscle mass like a brick house like Jason, his shoulders grew broad and powerful, biceps pronounced, muscles lean and defined. He achieved a perfect match between raw power and agility.
Luka surprisingly hasn't changed much. He put a few inches more - taller than Marinette by just an inch, but smaller than Damian by four - but his muscles didn't grow. They just became more defined. And Marinette understood that.
Among all of them, Luka, Alix and Max were the ones who least physically attacked akumas; sometimes they even stayed out of the fight, as their powers were only for a very critical situation.
Adrien somehow still had room to grow. You see, it wasn't like he was short before; for a twelve-year-old boy - before wielding the ring - he was already quite tall, so even with the magic interfering, he still had a decent height for a teenager.
Then discover that there was still room for him to reach Damian? That was surprising.
Unlike Luka, Adrien gained muscle mass. The blonde, over the years, showed that there was no mercy when it came to eating. He never refused food, always chewing what he could as if there was no tomorrow, since at home, his diet was strict. But even with that, he never gained weight.
Always the same skinny boy as always. So skinny that Sabine had made it her life's mission to fatten the Agreste boy. (Which did not work, but it did not diminish the determination of the Chinese woman.)
Then, without the interference of magic, Adrien grew up.
The boy who was once skin and bone, now looked like the blonde version with green eyes of Kim. He didn't get uncomfortably muscular, but the muscle tone he got was insane. Even wearing a hoodie that was supposed to be 2x bigger than its ideal size, it was possible to see that some corners of the seams were stretched on the shoulders and chest.
Gabriel probably burst a vein when he saw his son's transformation. The more youthful Adrien looked, the better it was for him to sell the image of "teenage prince".
Kim was the least surprised, as he was already big even for a teenager. In addition to his shoulders - which became broader - he grew a few inches, bumping head-on with Marinette and Luka. The chest remained strong and his body seemed to have no problem staying flexible.
Félix followed the same path as Luka - which Marinette secretly thanked, since finding a bodybuilder Félix would be beyond strange -, remaining tall and elegant. Lean, well-defined muscles. He remembered Chloe's changes. Silent, but fatal.
He was also in the race for whoever got higher with Adrien and Damian.
Max, on the other hand, must not have grown more than five inches. His muscle tone did not grow at an alarming rate either, remaining mostly thin, but looking agile. Like a person who runs five miles every morning without losing his breath or sweating.
Which was good, since Max was never a fitness person and everyone knew it. If he appeared like a damn monster truck out of nowhere - like Marinette, Kagami and Adrien - it would make people ask even more and they didn't want to attract more attention than they were already getting.
All of this, of course, without pointing out the other obvious changes that puberty brought.
The lack of baby fat, sharp jaws, developed curves, deep voices... Marinette managed to get used to her new height, but was not finding peace of mind with the new weight of her chest.
She clapped her hands to get everyone's attention and smiled.
"Let's start?"
And everyone, including the two lovebirds, sat around the table.
They would only leave with a solid plan against Hawkmoth.
BONUS:
"Wow, did you see how some of Ms. Bustier's and Ms. Mendeleiev's students looked different?" Lila heard extra #1 gossip with extra #2.
"I saw it, girl!" Extra #2 responded. "Everyone is saying that they joined a gang."
"Oho, do you believe that?!"
"Well, won't you say that you didn't find Agreste's new appearance strange?"
Lila jumped when she heard the name of one of her enemies. She moved closer to the two girls to hear the conversation better.
It could be something she could use against the ice king.
“Did you see Dupain-Cheng?! That was insane!”
The Italian bristled when she heard Maribrat's name. Still confused about what the two girls were talking about.
She had decided not to go on the first day of school to make a flashy comeback, so what had happened, she didn't know.
"And Adrien?!"
"I know!"
And that was it! Lila needed to know in detail what was going on.
"Excuse me, girls..." She sweetened her voice as much as she could. The two girls looked at her confused. "I wanted to first apologize for listening to your conversation and also to ask what you were talking about..." The ‘poor woman’ expression stuck to her face.
The two girls were even more confused. "Didn't you come yesterday?"
"No. My flight from Achu took longer than expected and I just arrived today.”
"Ah..." Extra #2 waved. “Is that- Ah! In fact, just look back and you will understand!” She said hastily.
Extra #1 looked over Lila's shoulder with a haunted expression. Waving violently.
And when Lila turned... What the fuck was that.

One Piece 1000 - 10 Confessions as a One Piece Fan
Tumblr media
Although we did the Initial Thoughts a week ago (a long week ago, damn) which you can read here I wanted to do something for the official release of One Piece’s 1000th Chapter At first it started out to be ‘10 things I wanna ask Oda that I don’t think we’ll ever know’ but I couldn’t think of 10, then I was gonna do a General opinion post about it, but didn’t want it to come off too negative. So I am settling on a confessions post, which will have elements of these anyway.
So as we have a happy 1000, let’s talk about some stuff I usually don’t get to talk about in One Piece
Note: There will probably be spoilers so make sure you’re up to date
10. Late Beginnings I think the first confession I have to have is that despite being older than One Piece I am unfortunately not a ‘Day One’ fan. In fact I think I mainly got into One Piece around mid-Whole Cake Island arc, before I had of course known about One Piece, it was a ‘Big Three’ anime after all but the most I knew about it was that they had a guy named Luff-y and another called Zorro, and it was about ‘Pirates who can’t swim’. My curiosity only developed when in a youtube deep-dive of anime clips I kept being recommended One Piece clips, and decided to give a couple a go. Most of them were Paradise arc stuff from the anime, the dub voices were mostly atrocious so I stuck to sub. I was happily surprised about the amount of fun and emotional weight these clips gave me, which led me to check where One Piece was as of current and backtrack from there (Ironically I did the same with Beastars). I did eventually get caught up around the time of the Mafia Meeting and I’ve kept up with each chapter since.
9. I mostly still prefer the Pre-Timeskip looks When I first felt this I thought it to be pretty controversial, nowadays not so much. I understand that Oda wanted to change the look for many characters but some of them did feel like a downgrade. I think the ones who got it worst was Franky, I think it’s the bulbous shoulders, Franky was no stranger to body horror from Enies Lobby to Sabaody but I kinda preferred that he still had a lot of his humanity rather than looking like an action figure. Otherwise I think Robin, Nami and Chopper had it bad, maybe Brook too but his was more fashion than design; the women in general took heavy hits by Oda’s proportion design - I mean I get it boobs are nice but proportions are what make them better - but Robin also underwent a skin color change in the anime, who pre-timeskip shaded her skin darker than in the manga and corrected it to match the manga, I think most of us would’ve preferred Robin to have kept the darker skin tone and possibly even the fringe, Robin’s hairstyle (and her fashion in general) can be hit and miss. I go to and fro about Nami, other than the general waist and bust adjustments I think it fits her character to use her sexuality a bit, she was no stranger to that pre-Timeskip, sometimes though I can’t tell whether I preferred her with short or long hair (Short was definitely better on Nojiko), I do think though that Oda could have her show less skin, she is still very pretty in outfits such as Water 7, Thriller Bark and even her fake pirate disguise in the early chapters/episodes. Finally with Chopper I think it was a bad move to alter the hat, that was a memento from his father figure Hiriluk, it’d be like if Luffy altered his straw hat or Zoro replacing Wado Ichimonji, I do also feel that the design for Chopper’s points while easier to draw don’t look as good, I think a lot of it is the scruff, or lack thereof in favour of smoothness, Walk Point is fine but Heavy Point, Guard Point and Horn Point seem less threatening, Monster Point especially too, in Enies Lobby he looked like a cave painting of menace and destruction, now he’s smoother and his scruff lighter so it’s not as good. The rest of the designs I’m quite fine with though.
8. I wish some markings stuck as well Tattoos and Scars seem to be optional in the One Piece world sometimes, unless it’s branded in molten heat like the Dragon’s hoof, Sun Pirates logo or an attack from Sakazuki. While Nami’s redesigned tattoo has stuck around and Luffy and Zoro’s scars persist, they are mainly character reminders/mysteries for huge moments in the story, and I kinda wish that some of the Straw Hats had littler markings, not just scars either. For instance, the Alabasta X on the arm, I really wish that stayed on each of the Alabasta characters’ arms since it was a symbol of friendship with Vivi, I also wish that Luffy kept the 3D2Y mark on his arm. In terms of scars though it would’ve been nice to see the characters a bit more battle-worn; Zoro’s ankle scars from Mr. 3 have faded and frankly he should be covered in little and long scratches given his fights with Mr. 1 and 2 years of Mihawk Training, Nami’s shoulder scar is hidden completely by her tattoo and she has no scars on her hand (from fake stabbing Usopp) or foot (from blocking Miss Doublefinger), Usopp himself could’ve used some small scratches because lord knows how there’s even still bones in his nose plus he was in murder island for 2 years, Chopper could at least have a small bald patch from when his shoulder was impaled and burned by Shura’s fire lance too, other than that there’s just Jimbei’s potentially missing shoulder scar from Marineford, though Oda has kept it obscured a lot so maybe that is still there. I understand why Oda doesn’t or forgets to, but it would’ve been nice if we lived in a vacuum of no time limits and whatnot.
7. Dead End Adventure is my favourite One Piece film I don’t know what it is, but Dead End Adventure just gives me the most fun out of the One Piece films. It has a good side plot and the side character Shuraiya was a blast of a character. Granted, Gaspard wasn’t too good of a villain side for actually harming the straw hat and his defeat was a bit underwhelming but the race, the settings it was all fun. It is not to say I don’t enjoy any other One Piece movies, I delight in the horror fuel of Baron Omatsuri - and that killer final punch - and Z’s tragic tale of a fallen marine, Strong World has that epic entrance to the party and Stampede also had some great team up moments and fantastic writing for Usopp and Smoker but Dead End Adventure always feels like the movie I could watch in any mood.
6. Skypeia and Fishman Island are some of my favourite arcs While I can understand the criticism of the Long Ring Long Land arc (especially since the anime dragged out the Davy Back Fight) it surprised me that people found Skypeia and Fishman Island arcs to be boring or less entertaining than previous arcs. Everyone has their preferences of course but I felt that Skypeia and Fishman Island were very powerful arcs especially with the theme of racism. Both had glorious setting design different to the common customs of the world we had seen, Oda made both Skypeia and Fishman Island feel very much lived in with its own budding culture and prejudices, with a villain who was dead set on destroying everything just to have their way. With Enel and his priests we were able to push several characters to newer limits, with Robin showing her fighting capabilities, Zoro learning his projectile slashes, Chopper having to endure fighting 3 priests and even Usopp growing all the more braver in the face of seemingly indestructible opponents and later gaining access to the dials. With Fishman Island it was different because it was basically a ‘flex arc’: where the main villain is meant to be a stepping stone rather than a threat but even then the symbolism of the enemy is what’s significant with them, the inherited hatred of humans. But at the same time we do learn new strengths from the crew; Red Hawk, the use of armament Haki, Skywalk, Hell Memories, Franky Shogun, Usopp’s pop greens, Nami’s weather eggs, Brook’s Soul Solid and his new DF power (which is possibly an awakening), as well as the first true steps of Jimbei joining the crew. The biggest strength of both arcs is the flashback as well, like Wano would in present time both arcs demonstrated that Oda can carry a story without his main characters and still keep it as captivating as ever, be it the friendship of Noland and Calgara, the tragedies of Otohime and Fisher Tiger or the life of Kozuki Oden and the man who would be Pirate King. And the impact of Fishman Island and Skypeia’s flashbacks both come back around in Dressrosa with the dwarves and Koala, and Fishman Island really does kick off the whole Yonko saga with Luffy challenging Big Mom, these arcs were definitely significant as they were entertaining with silly faces, strong fights, challenging themes, lorebuilding, good side characters and unique twists. And the overall message of healing from the past is still significant to this day. Through Wyper’s sacrifice and the Bell ringing to Jimbei giving blood and the Ryugu royals wanting to attend the Reverie, it is all very powerful stuff and while the arcs are similar in nature its their similarities that make me love them. Also the cover stories with Enel and Gedatsu on their own mini adventures are fun
5. I really want to know where Ghin is Ghin/Gin was such an interesting character in Baratie. Given that this was right before Arlong Park too so we had not seen a character conflict with different loyalties in One Piece until then, his gratitude to Sanji against his loyalty to Krieg created a fantastically complex character, but then he left and we didn’t hear about him ever since. Did he survive Krieg’s poison gas? Is he still with Krieg? One reactor of the episode said “maybe he’ll become the next Don” which was a concept I kinda really liked. The guy was pretty strong given that he had bested Sanji at that time, and since he didn’t appear in a cover story my mind does wonder. It’s not just Ghin either, a lot of the early East Blue characters kinda fell off the map; where is Morgan? Last we saw he was sleeping as he sailed past Jango, where is Kuro? For someone wanting to resume piracy after some years off he has been very quiet, where is Krieg? Only Arlong and Morgan were arrested and the latter escaped so the rest of these characters are a mystery. Recently in Wano I am still wondering where Law’s crew that he brought to Onigashima went, as well as Caribou - where is that slippery bugger?
4. Basil Hawkins is probably one of my Top 5 Supernova There’s something about that dude I gravitate towards, which makes it quite frustrating when the anime decides to add extra malice and creepy faces to him. Hawkins in Wano is still a victim, if anything he is simply a prisoner with better working conditions, if he thought he could survive escaping Kaido he would but he doesn’t so he won’t, he’s also gonna feel sore about Drake betraying him and letting Law cut him up, so it annoys me that Hawkins is seen like a villain. Not only does he have an extremely interesting Devil Fruit and creativity with it but he’s also audaciously confident in his fortunetelling, even Luffy ran from Kizaru at Sabaody while Hawkins looked at his cards while Kizaru was about to boot him to holy hell and said ‘nah I’m not dying today’, you gotta respect that moxie. At the same time though as a pirate he has that shades of grey element, he’s okay with letting some of his crew be disposable and we don’t even know to what end, he doesn’t look like a guy too concerned about being Pirate King or having riches. I also get a good laugh in that his hobbies are interior design, it makes me really want to see what the inside of his ship looks like. I think as a top 5, I have Luffy, Zoro, Law, Hawkins and then Kid, Bege, Killer and Bonney are not far behind with Apoo dead last because fuck Apoo. Kid and Killer are cool but I do feel like they need a bit more character, Bege earned some points in being funny and his care for his family in WCI and then there’s Bonney - I really hope we dig into Bonney’s significance, she feels really important and that mystery keeps her fresh whenever we see her. Drake too has only really started to become interesting because of SWORD, we could still see more fleshing but for now he is like bottom 3. It’s a shame Urouge has to be so low, he’s not bad but he’s not spectacular either, gotta admire his hobby of lovemaking though, you do you Urouge.
3. I don’t think that either of the ‘Most Beautiful Women in the World’ are the Most Beautiful Women in One Piece The in-world consensus seems to be that the Most Beautiful Women in the World are Boa Hancock, Komurasaki and Shirahoshi, and granted they are very pretty, but the most? Not for me. I mean, y’all know that Nico Robin, Nami and Vinsmoke Reiju exist right? Makino as well is stunning, as are Tashigi, Bonney, Margaret, Ishilly, Nojiko, Vivi, Rebecca, Pudding, Perona, Cosette and I’m sure a few others, realistically I think they could all give them a run for their money. I get how for those three their beauty is a plot point (Boa it’s drilling home Luffy’s obliviousness to it, Komurasaki it’s the swerve of her not being awful and for Shirahoshi it’s due to Vander Decken IX pulling the creep factor on her) but it would’ve worked the same way without the ‘world’ hyperbole I think. As much as Oda is iffy with proportions and rarely writes women with as much attention as the boys he sure knows how to make them attractive.
2. Some of my favourite individual Straw Hat scenes aren’t in Canon If I were to have a top 5 moments of each character, it may surprise you that some of it comes from movies or filler episodes, particularly Sanji’s flexing on Jessica in the G8 Arc (in fact, Jonathon is one of my favourite marines, T-Bone is in there too, but I don’t have room to fit that). Some are of course obvious because of how iconic they are but it does go to show that sometimes filler isn’t all bad. Since you’re probably curious: As a Group Goodbye Merry [Enies Lobby] Entering Shiki’s Palace [Strong World] Walk to Arlong Park [Arlong Park] Entering the Grand Line [Reverse Mountain] vs a Stuck Oars [Thriller Bark] Jimbei Giving Luffy Blood [FMI] Vagabond Drill on Big Mom [WCI] Leaving the Big Mom Pirates [WCI] Returning in Wano [Wano] Trying to argue with Luffy [FMI] Brook vs Chess Soldiers & Big Mom [WCI] Flashback [Thriller Bark] Breaking Mother Carmel’s Picture [WCI] Baron Corpse vs Dog Minks [Zou] Hysterically laughing at seeing Duval [Sabaody] Franky vs Senor Pink [Dressrosa] Playing with the Kids [Punk Hazard] vs Fukurou [Enies Lobby] Freedom Roller [Wano] Trapping Caribou in the Barrel [FMI] Robin  I Want to Live [Enies Lobby] Clutching Spandam [Enies Lobby] Throwing Usopp under the bus [G8] vs Yama [Skypeia] Clutching Tequila Wolf guards [Amazon Lily] Chopper Monster Point [Enies Lobby] Flashback [Drum Island] Chopper Man (& Minoru Kazeno) vs Usobada [Chopper Man Special] Don’t blow the whistle: Immediately blows whistle [Skypeia] Dr Chopper the definitely Human Doctor not wearing fake glasses [G8] Vivi w/ Karoo (she counts okay!) Goodbye speech [Alabasta] Escaping Bon Clay [Alabasta] Karoo Digging Luffy Out [Little Garden] Luffy Fan Club Meeting [Reverie] Slapping Usopp awake [Drum Island] Nami vs Kalifa [Enies Lobby] Standing by the kids [Punk Hazard] Saying goodbye to Bell-mere [Arlong Park] Helping Luffy vs Cracker via Lola’s Vivre Card [WCI] Luffy WILL be Pirate King [Wano] Sanji ‘I needed a light’ [Skypeia] Flexing on Jessica [G8] Saving the Vinsmokes [WCI] O-Soba Mask [Wano] vs Doflamingo [Dressrosa]  Usopp Alabasta speech [Alabasta] Awakening Observation Haki [Dressrosa] Sogeking Theme Song [Enies Lobby] vs Perona [Thriller Bark] Saving Luffy from the fire [Stampede]  Zoro Nothing Happened [Thriller Bark] vs Ryuma [Thriller Bark] vs Mr. 1 [Alabasta] vs Gyukimaru & Kamazo [Wano] “He’s sweeping our floors that fiend!” Test of Luck [Loguetown] Luffy ‘On the Sea, you fight Pirates’ [Wano] Red Roc [Wano] vs Katakuri [WCI] Haki clash with Doflamingo [Dressrosa] Punching Saint Charloss [Sabaody] I will have to say that for some characters I could go to 20 so if one’s missing it may’ve just missed the mark, such as Usopp and Nami vs Enel or Luffy putting back a Zombie or Stealth Luffy, I mean it is 1000 chapters as well as movies and filler episodes/specials...
1. I’ve learned quite a lot due to One Piece Since my fascination started with a deep dive of checks, I did start to learn a hell of a lot more not just about the franchise itself (you know it’s almost catching up BATMAN on total sales, which has been around more than 3 times longer?) but I also learned a lot about stuff Oda has used as a reference key; folklore, actual pirates, actual practices, the amount of detail Oda puts in is astounding. Which does lean into another thing I’ve learned, One Piece has changed the way I approach some of my ideas for writings and whatnot, before I would be afraid of either spoonfeeding or being too vague, Oda’s mastery not only in storytelling but character development, character quality and pacing has both helped and intimidated me a lot of times, I mean consider this: it took hundreds of chapters to get a proper backstory on Luffy, the main character, how unprecedented is that? Often I could fall into the trap of making sure you knew everything about the main character from day one but now I wonder about what’s necessary for the now and what can I work on. Another thing that both inspires and intimidates me is his drawing, I suck at colours and still do, and a lot of Oda’s attention to detail is incredible considering he’s gotta whip that out on the weekly, but at the same time you see some of his rough sketches and they’re pretty similar to a rough sketch of my own, so in a way it’s a ‘there’s still hope for you’ moment seeing those. I can’t say I’ve learned Japanese from listening to One Piece, but I have picked up on some stuff, some hiragana there, some phonetics here, I also appreciated some of the stuff kaizokuou-ni-naru does (I won’t tag them in case that’s a bit rude to do it out of the blue but check out their tumblr) when it came to deciphering the Japanese of chapters and the little puns and hints Oda puts in his native tongue. And of course any One Piece fan has learned one thing above all else: Patience. Oda himself included, it took over 20 years to get to 1000 chapters and we still have plenty of questions to ask, plenty of islands to see and thus plenty of chapters to go. So Straw Hats off to you Oda, and a happy 1000th!

Some deleted scenes from my latest atla fic!
#1: In which Zuko adopts a dragon, and Mai really should be used to this by now
Just when she thinks he can’t surprise her anymore, Zuko goes and does something that proves her wrong. Like bringing home a baby dragon.
“I’m going to call you Druk,” he coos at the little coiled lump in his hands. “You’re lucky I’m here, otherwise Sokka might have called you something like Firebreather or Noodle.”
Mai has been introduced to Zuko’s turtleducks both before and after his banishment. Sokka’s not the only one who would be tempted to name a dragon Noodle.
“When Ty Lee said you wanted some time away,” Mai says conversationally, “I don’t think this is what she meant.”
He starts badly at her voice, but when he spins around to face her, he’s beaming widely. Spirits, he could light up the entire Fire Nation with that smile. “Mai! I thought you were coming back next week.”
“I got bored,” she repeats, smirking. “I missed Ty Lee, and gave my parents the slip when they said they were taking a detour. Seems like I wasn’t the only one who ran away. You’ve been up to a lot, hm?”
He chuckles. “Kind of,” he admits, and his expression turns serious. “The palace was getting to me, so I needed a break. I wasn’t intending on bringing Druk back, but I don’t mind.”
“Do the turtleducks like him?” she asks dryly.
“They love him. It’s weird, they’ve never actually seen a dragon before.”
“And you have? Before… Druk, I mean.”
He flushes, opens his mouth to speak, and closes it again.
“Zuko, that’s a yes or no question.”
“It’s… confidential?” he squeaks, flicking his gaze to the tiny hatchling winding around his hand, weaving around the limb before lying across Zuko’s shoulders like a very short scarf. It’s adorable.
She exhales. “When it stops being confidential,” she allows, “let me know before the others? And by that I mean the Fire Nation officials. I’m going ahead and assuming the Avatar and your other friends know.”
“Aang knows, but the others don’t,” Zuko corrects. “Of course I’ll tell you the whole story first.”
“Good.” She walks up to her best friend and embraces him tightly. He stiffens momentarily but hugs her back, careful not to dislodge Druk. “I didn’t just miss Ty Lee, you know.”
She can feel his smile against her shoulder. “I know. I missed you too, Mai.” He pulls away and holds her at an arm’s length. There’s a wicked smile on his face that’s somehow also completely devoid of malice. Not that she could ever see malice on him. “But you mostly missed Ty Lee.”
“One more word and you’ll find a knife on your royal person,” she warns.
#2: In which Sokka takes Zuko into the towns outside the Caldera to show him how much the place has changed
“You know what I think?”
Zuko hums and looks over from a scroll to his friend, who’s lounging on the bed with a map held above his head.
“I think the council members are jealous,” Sokka says.
Zuko raises his eyebrow. “What of?”
“Huh?”
“What would they be jealous of?”
“Oh,” Sokka exclaims, blinking in surprise. “They only have a few supporters among the nobility. Mostly in Caldera City. The people love you and your reforms, and your latest repeal of Sozin’s marriage laws won you even more favours among them.”
“There were more dissenters,” Zuko says with a frown. “I thought it was massively unpopular, even if it was the right thing to do.”
Sokka turns over and waves a hand vaguely at him, grinning like a fool. “See, that’s what I mean. You don’t care about popularity. You saw the marriage laws and knew that you couldn’t put boundaries on love, so you changed the rules. You found out why the war was wrong, and you ended it. Not without help, of course, but you did it all. You care about your people, and they know it.”
Zuko doesn’t know what to say to this, so he resorts to throwing a cushion at his friends face for having him confront feelings. His indignant yelp is a sound that leaves him chuckling for a good minute, so he lets it slide.
But the matter isn’t done yet, at least according to Sokka. On the last day of his visit, Zuko finds that there are no meetings scheduled for the day. He thinks he’ll spend some time in the gardens with his friend, like old times, but Sokka seems to have other plans.
“You guys have fun,” Suki says with a kiss to Sokka’s cheek and a clap on Zuko’s shoulder. “I’ll catch you later.”
Sokka pulls Suki into a proper kiss on the lips before he calls out a quick goodbye and drags Zuko out of the palace.
“Have you been to the towns and villages before?” Sokka asks as they make their way down the slope of the inactive volcano housing the capital city.
“Not nearly as much as I’d like,” Zuko admits. “I’ve been around the capital and Ember Island, but there wasn’t any reason for me to go down to the rest of the Fire Nation.” By reasons, he trusts Sokka understands that he means Ozai had strict rules to stay within the city limits.
“Huh. That’s not great.”
“I went to one of the towns once with my cousin, though,” he adds, expecting the familiar pang in his heart at the mention of Lu Ten before it hits him.
“He’s one of the good ones?” Sokka guesses.
Zuko smiles sadly. “He was like an older brother to me. You know, he was the one to tell Mom and Uncle that I was good with swords?”
“No way.”
“Ozai knew that I was leaving for a change in instructors,” Zuko continues, “but he never really cared either way at the time. He only really became a problem when Uncle and Lu Ten left to fight.”
“Ah.” Sokka rests a hand on his shoulder and squeezes lightly, and Zuko knows to draw comfort from the gesture. He misses Lu Ten dearly, but the sting of loss is numbed, now. He can think of his antics with his cousin during his early childhood without the accompanying sorrow threatening to overwhelm him.
They’re at the base of the volcano now, so Zuko slips up his hood. His hair is free of its topknot and falls over his scar so that he can blend with the crowd unremarkably. There’s no sign that he might be discovered, though, and no repercussions even if he is (except perhaps from his guards, but Ming won’t really mind once she understands why).
The first thing he notices are the sounds. There’s laughter, chatter, and the occasional yelling interspersed with off-key music. He’s already taken aback by how different it is from when Lu Ten helped him sneak out one night when his parents were away with Azula.
“I…”
Sokka smiles and loops an arm around his shoulders. “You haven’t seen anything yet, buddy. You’re going to love this.”
The wind blowing around them is cool enough to be uncomfortable, so Zuko tugs up his collar and raises his internal temperature to compensate. Sokka seems to be unaffected by the chill, which is only to be expected considering his friend spent most of his life in harsh southern winters. They stop every few paces to look at what the roadside stalls were selling, and more than once Sokka actively considers the merits and demerits of buying something they sell before deciding against them, moving forward, and darting back only to walk away again.
The fifth time this happens, Zuko finds a permanent solution in the fire-dancers performing in the streets. It’s his turn now to haul his friend over to them, and Sokka is all too willing to oblige as Zuko watches the performers exaggerate their movements with graceful bending.
“You know, this was pretty cool in the Fire Days Festival too – spirits, are you okay?”
From how distressed Sokka suddenly looks upon seeing his face, he automatically reaches up to touch the scar only to find his cheeks wet. He hadn’t even realised he was crying, but he scrambled for an explanation to keep the other boy from panicking.
“I used to watch the fire-dancers with my mother every year when we went to Ember Island,” he says, swiping at his eyes. “I always wanted to learn their bending style, it’s much more flowy than any other form of firebending. And… it’s been a while since the Fire Nation was this happy outside of festivals. And, well, Ember Island.”
Sokka nods slowly, but he doesn’t look any more placated.
“I guess it never really felt real to me,” Zuko mumbles, ducking his head as his eyes start to burn and glaze over once more. “I’m always stuck at meetings or fighting the council to pass a reform that would help my people, but…”
There’s a lump in his throat that stops him from speaking further, but Sokka leads him away from the crowd gently and finishes it for him.
“You never saw how your decisions impacted your people.”
Zuko manages a strangled chuckle. “They’re happy,” he whispers.
Sokka holds him an arm’s length away, hands firm on his shoulders. “That’s what I wanted to show you,” he says. “They’re healing, and they’re happy. I know most of the people you see are the ones who benefitted from the war, but when we were making our way to the capital before the eclipse, we noticed that it had left its mark on the Fire Nation too.”
Zuko nods, thinking about how he’d received news of an important weapons factory suddenly stopping production because of some problem with the river it was located on. He’d investigated it further and had declined to deliver that information to Ozai once he heard how badly the nearby town had fared.
“We’re the ones who instigated the war,” Zuko says, slumping against the wall of some building. “There were so few people who didn’t suffer for it.”
Sokka slides down next to him wordlessly. It’s not self-deprecating for him to say this – it’s the truth, and Zuko’s doing his best to make up for his ancestors’ terrible choices. They weren’t mistakes, not when each tragedy piled up on top of each other with the sickening, deliberate motive painting them red with blood.
He’s going to help the world heal, and if that starts by healing the Fire Nation? Well, that’s all for the better.

I wanna make a request? Could you do another one where Evie has a sister and she's so beautiful so the Evil Queen get's jealous and locks her up on the Isle of the Doomed and Harry finds her?
Evie rushed through the isle, tears burning her eyes, slamming into shoulders without care, her older sister, her best friend, had been taken by their mother and forced to be locked up on the isle of the doomed.
She skidded to a stop at the docks, watching as goblins sailed away with her sister, her (h/c) hair gleaming in the cloudly daylight, evie felt tears slip down her face, as she screamed out.
“(Y/N)!”
“don’t scream for that tramp my little evilette, she is not worth your tears”
“mommy? W-why?”
“there shall not be a woman more beautiful than me, even if it's my own daughter, now come.”
Evie stood paralyzed for a few moments, her blurry eyes-catching a flash of red. Turning she locked eyes with a boy, with ocean blue eyes and a hook, staring shocked at the little boat with her sister in it.
Evie sniffed, wiping away her years and turning back to the fading boat with her sister in it.
“well see each other again, I promise”
=
It had been several years since your mother sent you off to the isle of the doomed, evie was 10 when you were sent away, and now she was 16, 6 years since she had seen you.
Recently, she had been ordered to go to the isle of the doomed to retrieve the dragon eye scepter, but evie had another goal.
Her sister.
But mal, had refused to let evie explore, so evie had returned to her castle in tears, hoping her sister wasn’t dead.
Only a month later, evie was in Auradon and she had chosen the side of good, begging for the new king, ben, to look for her sister on the isle of the doomed and save her.
He tried, but no one was willing to go.
Evie suffered in silence, hoping for someone to save her sister, maybe even that boy she saw on the day it happened.
Maybe.
=
Harry trekked the isle, his bag slung over his shoulder, ready for sailing to the isle of the doomed, when a thought popped into his head.
6 years ago, there was a girl, a very beautiful girl, that had been forced on the goblin ship and sailed off to the isle of the doomed, if he remembered correctly, she was the second daughter of the evil queen, sent way because the queen was jealous of her beauty.
Harry sighed, adjusting the bag on his shoulder as he arrived at the lost revenge, there would be no chance that the girl would still be alive, 6 years? On the isle of the doomed, that place got less food and sunlight than the main island.
Still…
Harry ruffled his hair, what was he thinking? Be a hero and save the princess? Yeah right, that was a job for the stuck up heroes of Auradon, not the pirate son of captain hook.
“Harry!” he jumped, looking at uma, who was apparently had been calling his name, “are you even listening?”
“uhh” harry started, rubbing his neck “no?”
Uma sighed, flicking his forehead “as I was saying, are you ready to go?”
Harry nodded “aye” uma hummed, still staring at him before asking.
“what was distracting you?”
Harry froze, before sighing and relenting after trying to deny, only for uma to glare.
“there, there was this girl-“
“oooh~” uma cooed, smiling “you met someone?” Harry shook his head, making uma raise her brows.
“no- it-okay you remember the rumor that the evil queen had two daughters?” uma nodded slowly.
“yeah? And that the older sister was sent to the isle of the doomed because she was becoming too pretty?”
Harry nods “its not a rumor” uma paled, eyes widening and jaw-dropping
“what”
“aye, I saw it, I saw the evil queen drag her on to a goblin boat, and order them to sail her to the isle of the doomed, blueberry showed up to, she was so…sad like she actually loved the sister”
Uma stayed silent for a moment, staring at the ground, before looking back up at Harry with a determined gaze. “what if we find the lost princess?”
Harry blinked, tilting his head “hold up, what?! Us, pirates! Find the lost princess? Then what? Hold her for ransom?”
Uma shook her head, still smirking “no, if we get into Evie's sister's good side, she could convince evie to convince beasty boy to bring us over! It's perfect!” uma clapped her hands, a cunning grin on her face.
Harry mulled it over, it could be a good back up plan, and who knows, maybe this lost princess could be the key to getting them off the isle.
“let's do it” harry murmured, nodding “let's go save the princess” he ended with a snort, walking past uma and onto the ship, uma beginning to yell out orders to the crew, telling them of a new plan.
The shell necklace…and the lost princess.
---
It has been six long years since you stepped foot on the main aisle, six long years of wandering the foggy lost woods and scrounging for food, learning to defend yourself from the dangers animals and feral goblins.
You had grown since then, standing at (h) and your once long hair now cut to a shoulder-length blunt cut for easy mobility.
Your once soft stomach now hardened with muscles and scars, your soft fingers now calloused and rough.
In your mother's eyes, you would have been ugly, horrific, unworthy of someone's love.
But when you saw your face in the rivers, you saw beauty, power, and strength. Everything your mother was not.
You knew you would never find love, only because you were stuck here, on the isle of the doomed, fighting for your life each day, gaining skill with weapons and shields.
Until one day, a boy appeared, he had a long red jacket on, a pirate hat placed on top of his head, a silver hook in his left hand, a cutlass in his right.
“hook” you whispered, easily recognizing the son of captain hook, harry. if you remembered correctly, this was the same boy who had helplessly watched as you were taken away.
Maybe now he could help.
Stepping out of the shadows, you kept your hand on your sword, just in case he was a foe.
You stepped on a twig making harry jump and whirl around, bright ocean blue eyes connecting with yours
‘wow’ you thought, feeling your face slightly heat up
‘he's pretty’
---
‘holy fuck’ harry swallowed harshly, staring into the beautiful (e/c) eyes of the girl standing before him  ‘she's beautiful’
Harry lowered his sword, letting you step toward him a little.
“Are yeh the lost princess?” the girl blinked tilting her head.
“the hell-what does that mean?”
Harry shook his head, biting his lip at the smooth tone of the girl “i-I mean, are yeh the princess that the evil queen sent away?”
“oh,” the girl nodded “yeah that would be me, why are you asking?”
Harry smiled, in a hopefully friendly way “im here ta return yeh to the main isle,” he sheathed his sword, holding his hand out to the girl.
She gave a brilliant smile, jogging forward and taking his hand “really?!”
Harry nodded, still smiling,a blush settling on his face at the hopefull gaze in her eyes, “aye, but there is just one thing I need ta do, Ursula's necklace”
You nodded, “I know where the pieces are if that helps?”
Harry beamed “yes! If you could tell me?”
“better yet!” you gripped his hand, leading him the opposite way he was going “ill show you”
---
Harry watched as you slept in his bed, freshly bathed and in clean clothes, your true beauty revealed after finally getting off all that stained dirt and goblin blood.
“How is she harry?” uma asked, walking into his room, holding a chip shop plate with fish sticks and fries.
“shes asleep” Harry murmured, taking the plate and starting to eat “she fell right asleep as soon as she hit the matress”
“well” uma stole a fry, tossing it in her mouth “considering she's been sleeping on cold hard ground the last six years, I think she would love to sleep on something a bit softer”
“aye” harry muttered, chewing on a fish stick “now what?”
Uma hummed, watching as (y/n) turned over in her sleep, her back now facing them. “well, she's crazy with a sword, wicked strong, fearless…not a lot we can teach her…quartermaster?”
Harry nodded “aye, it would fit like a glove for ‘er”
Uma smirked, “right, ill start making preparations for her room at the warehouse, then well start repairing the ship for living quarters, night harry”
“night cap’n”
Harry watched you in silence for a minute, before standing and getting ready for bed, climbing into his hammock, he watched your torso rise and fall with each breath.
He fell asleep to the thought of many adventures with you.
The most beautiful girl he had ever seen.

No Grave Ch.2
We didn’t really speak for the first two years of our new lives. I knew Sterling like the back of my hand, and he knew me the same way. We had no need for words.
Our parents were worried, but the doctors said that there was nothing wrong with us. Which there wasn’t, we just didn’t want to talk. Though, I was starting to feel guilty about worrying them.
My ‘first’ word was as much a surprise to me as it was to our parents. I was eating my cereal and accidentally knocked a cup of juice to the ground when-
“Motherfucker.” That happened.
“No swearing.” Sterling slapped my hand.
Mom and Dad stared at us in shock. The next room over, something broke and a loud shout echoed through the house.
“MotherFUCKER!” Roger yelled.
Oops.
Sorry Roger.
“ROGER! YOU TAUGHT MY KID HOW TO SWEAR?!” Dad hollered and got out of his seat, marching into the other room.
“Sol, honey. That’s a bad word. Please don’t say it again unless someone is being mean to you or they deserve it.” Mom smiled sweetly at me. I nodded and went back to eating my cereal.
Our household became a lot more lively after that. Roger came by once every two months, and always came back with amazing tales of the Grand Line and silly stories about his crew. It was always the highlight of my day.
We started training again, in ways that were easy for children of our size to do without being obvious to the adults. Stretches in the morning and before bed, yoga with Mom, play fighting and stick fights, and building ‘houses’ in the backyard to help build muscles.
And then one day, Dad came home in a panic.
We were 7 at the time, and Dad barged into our room and started packing our bags.
“Dad what’s going on? What’s wrong?” I tugged on his shirt as he threw our clothes into a backpack.
“Sorry Sol, Sterling. You guys are going to go stay with Uncle Roger for a bit. Some bad people were seen near here, and I don’t want you guys to get hurt.” He smiled at me, jagged teeth and all.
“But what about Mom? The doctors said that she should stay in bed for another week before she’s allowed to walk.” Sterling asked.
“I’ll be staying here with her, and then we’ll both be there to greet you when you guys come back.” I narrowed my eyes and shared a glance with Sterling. The only ‘bad people’ that would get Dad this shaken up would be Celestial Dragons or slavers, but we’re not supposed to know about them.
I went back to making a card for Mom. I finished it up and tiptoed into her bedroom. I put the card on her pillow and ran back to our bedroom.
Dad picked Sterling up and ushered me back out. Everything in my body is screaming at me that something is wrong, that this is going to be my Tragic BackstoryTM if I don’t stop, but there’s nothing I can do as a tiny 7 year old.
Dad ended up dragging us to the docks on the other side of the island. I could see Roger standing there with another man that I recognize to be a much younger Rayleigh.
“Roger!” I dropped my Dad’s hand and ran at my godfather, launching myself into his arms.
“Hey kiddos! I missed you too. What’ve you been doing since the last time I visited?” He picked up Sterling who finally managed to wiggle free of Dad's grip.
“Mom broke her leg.”Sterling said, and Roger started sweating.
“Is she okay?”
“Yup!” I smiled, popping the p. Roger let out a sigh of relief.
“We built another fort. I think you’d be able to fit in it this time.” Sterling said with the most serious look I have ever seen on a 7 year old child.
“Really? We’ll have to test that out later!” Roger laughed. I peeked over his shoulder to look at a very confused Rayleigh.
“Who are you?” I asked. He looked at me before smiling.
“I’m Silvers Rayleigh, and you are?”
“I’m Solaris, and my brother is Sterling.” Sterling kicked me.
“I can introduce myself, idiot.” He growled, and I stuck my tongue out at him.
“Alright, let’s get you two on the ship before someone gets hurt. Say your goodbyes and we can get going.” I dropped out of Roger’s arms and hugged Dad’s legs.
“Bye Dad. I love you.”
“Love you too, squirt. I’ll see you later.” He ruffled my hair. Sterling just waved. I skipped back to Roger, wrapping my tiny hand around his pinky finger.
He walked us up the gangplank, where we were met with the entire crew eyeing us without actually looking at us. It was really uncomfortable because I could tell they had questions but I’m also incapable of starting conversations with strangers.
“They’re staring at us.” Sterling stage whispered as Roger put him down.
“Go play with Sol, Sterling. Alright, back to work!” I grabbed Sterling’s hand and rocketed off to scout the ship. We giggled as we ducked ducked around the crew and into the hallways. We found the kitchen, and immediately decided that that was our new base of operations.
Sterling and Iended up squeezing into the pantry, and snickering into our palms as people yelled and fell over due to being unbalanced. I turned to my brother and started using Uzushio sign language.
‘Do you think they’ll find us?’ I asked.
‘Probably, but not right away. Do you think they think we’re Roger’s kids?’
‘That’d be funny. How do you think dad would react to that?’
‘I don’t know. But I think we should do our best to make the most of our time here.’ He got an evil look in his eyes, and a sly grin crept onto my face.
‘You’re a little shit disturber, aren’t you? I like it.’ I snickered and curled up even further into a ball, making room for Sterling to shift and grab whatever food he could reach. He handed me a pear, which…. that’s probably not a good place to store fruit when the crew is as busy as this one and won’t be able to move them before they go bad…. oh well.
After rubbing my hands all over to check for soft spots, I sunk my teeth into the fruit, only to hear an audible snap. I pulled away and looked at my pear, which now had a tiny white tooth poking out of it. I ran my tongue over my gums and found that there was already a new sharp tooth growing in its place.
“A tooth!” I gasped as I picked it out of the fruit and held it out to Sterling.
“Ouch. Are you gonna show Roger?” I scoffed.
“Of course.I know that the tooth fairy isn’t real, but I still want money for my tooth. I’m a good actor, we’ve gotten this far haven’t we?” Sterling nodded like I just said some great words of wisdom. I slipped the tooth into my pocket and tried eating again. This time I didn’t lose a tooth. I finished up my snack and crawled out of the pantry.
There was no one around, so we took off our shoes to help muffle our steps as we snuck around.
Somehow, against all odds, we managed to climb up into the crows nest without getting spotted. We sat down as we enjoyed the feeling of being up so high and unrestrained. The only thing that was missing was the warm fur or soft feathers under my hands.
I took out a recreation of ‘The Tale Of The Utterly Gutsy Shinobi’ and quietly read it aloud to Sterling.
Soon enough we had both fallen asleep curled up with one another.

Tony Stark Bingo Prompt Meme
So, we did another Prompt Meme game, and came up with these summaries based on a three-tag prompt. This is an open prompt, if any of these summaries look like fun to you, please feel free to write them!! Tag us or the writer of the prompt when you do so we can all see how cool you are and what you’ve given us for the promot
@summerpipedream - Winteriron - All Tony wanted to do after finishing up at MIT was to pack up his desk at Stark Industries and quietly fade into obscurity. Sure money was tight, but he never expected Jan to actually sign him up for one of those social media reality shows. Now, he was stuck in a house, with no phone, no internet, or access to the outside world, trying to avoid the sexy Bucky Barnes, who's mission in life seemed to be to never wear a shirt around him.
@darthbloodorange - The world is ending, an alien race has all but taken over the world, it is an apocalypse of devastating proportions, most of the world is dead. The Avengers, those who are left, have retreated to a bunker built a fourth of the way down into the Earth’s core. Tony and Steve have been growing closer, when they are not working together to find a way to fight back against the aliens, they are fuck buddies. Tony’s a genius, he knows the odd of surviving this are not in their favour. Odds were that they were going to die… and well, Tony doesn’t want to die without letting Steve know how he feels. Before the battle Tony corners Steve in the armoury and confesses that he loves him. Steve is aromatic, has been since project rebirth.  They are both so very sorry.
@newnewyorker93 - After a series of strange killings where the victims are found set up kneeling like they're praying, Tony Stark (a private detective) is on the case. An initial (false) suspect is the local priest, Matt Murdoch, who ends up being a helpful ally in solving the case (and possibly more)
@27dragons - Winteriron: You'd think that Tony Stark would have learned to ski when he was growing up. You'd think wrong; Howard never saw the point in it. So here he is, almost done with his PhD, and his friends have decided on a spring break trip to go skiing. He doesn't want to admit to them that he doesn't know how, so their first night at the lodge, he offers one of the ski instructors a large sum of money to sneak him up onto the slopes for a few lessons that night. Against his better judgment -- but desperately needing the cash -- Ski instructor Bucky Barnes takes Tony up on the slopes. Unfortunately, just as Tony's starting to get the hang of things, it starts snowing. Hard. Even more unfortunately, the newfallen snow disguises a patch of ice and Tony tumbles out of control. By the time Bucky catches up to him and verifies that he's not badly hurt, the snow is coming down too hard to see the lodge -- so what else are they to do but seek shelter in a caretaker's cabin conveniently (TM) nearby and wait for morning...?
@gavilansblog - Tony is kidnapped as part of an Evil Plot (TM). He's handling things just fine, tyvm, until his would-be rescuer (who he's been pining for, obviously), gets dragged in and handcuffed back to back with him. Seriously, dude? If you insist on breaking the kidnapping procedure at least actually rescue me! The taxes come in when the Evil Plot Master does his monologue and reveals that the kidnapping is part of a Villain Logic scheme to get Stark Industries to throw money behind the campaign to get a new law requiring actually taxing billionaires to fail. Evil Plot Master is, naturally, a billionaire. Tony would facepalm if he weren't handcuffed to his idiot rescuer, seriously. And then the kidnapping protocol kicks in and Jarvis shuts the whole facility down only instead of being handcuffed by himself Tony is now handcuffed to his rescuer so they have to do the whole escaping part of the plan while handcuffed together, resulting is the standard Tension (TM) moments and possibly an almost-kiss.
Fey Relay - Bruce, Tony, and Peter, resident science geeks, get de-aged and really want to play in the lab. You know, the one that has lots of things that can kill them in it? But they're still sort of mentally in there, just cranky and smol. So they get assigned their own Non-Science Adults who they hand-hold and point to do their sciency bidding. Thor, Steve, and Natasha oblige them and have great fun!
@rise-up-ting-ting-like-glitter Dragons were real. Okay they were actually just souped-up dinosaurs, but that didn’t mean Tony wasn’t being hunted—with intent—by lizards. He hadn’t wanted to come to this stupid Island in the first place. SI funding had explicitly been removed from the crackpot idea to return dinosaurs to the food chain. He could have told everyone that this was going to happen. Instead he was climbing through a jungle with a one-armed man who refused to give his name and if they didn’t get to the raptor enclave, retrieve the anti-venom, and return in time, people Tony loved were going to die.
His guide had better live up to his scruffy wild-man appearance or Tony was going to lose everything.
@somesortofitalianroast - Nurse Bucky Barnes wasn’t sure what exactly was going on. The vigilante known as Nomad had just crashed through the (luckily) open fire escape window. While he was lucky not to have any broken bones, he was unlucky enough to have a bad concussion. A really bad one. One that meant he couldn’t fall asleep. Also unfortunately, he only had the one bed and the enormous Nomad wouldn’t fit on his couch, so they’d have to share. It was only after he helped Nomad into his bed that he noticed the blood, and, unthinking, he pulled the cowl off to check for another, serious injury. And gasped. Nomad was Steve Rogers, his best friend in school, who’d died in an IED attack in Iraq 5 years earlier.
@polizwrites Natasha Romanov and Virginia Potts are the proprietors  of  Chaykus -  a Russian tea room on the seedy side of town.  Its new mission  is to be a sanctuary for women  who have been smuggled into the country for sex trafficking purposes.  As for the men who engage in such practices? Well, they are quickly discovering that their days are numbered.
@dixiehellcat - Pepper is the manager of the heavy metal band War Machine. James Rhodes, lead guitarist and founder of the band, is looking for a new lead singer. He did not expect the woo-loving Virginia to get horoscopes cast for the applicants and decide based on that. He just wants somebody who can sing, dammit. This Stark kid is uncomfortably attractive, yeah, but he's been thrown out of two bands already. what? the shower sex? it was only that one time after a show, and they were both wasted...
@dracusfyre Tony was born without a soul mark. Bucky's was lost forever when Hydra took his arm.  Without the universe to give you a hint that this person is The One, falling in love is gambling with your heart. But soulmates don't have to be born, they can be made - and Bucky and Tony decide that the same should be true of soul marks, as well
@ceealaina Tony was like nerd prime growing up. Normally he doesn’t let it bother him too much — he’s got inventions to invent, after all. But all of a sudden he realizes that he’s almost 20, he’s got two degrees under his belt, and has no idea how to do much more than kiss. He’s not entirely sure how he manages to convince Rhodey to sleep with him to “get it out of the way,” or how he manages to convince him to keep sleeping with him to “help improve my technique,” but it’s the best sex of his life (not that he has much to compare it to) and he never wants it to end. But it’s the night when they’re watching movies, and Tony’s ends up dozing against Rhodey’s shoulder only to wake up to a feather light kiss against his forehead that he realizes he might be in trouble.
@thudworm - King Anthony considers it part of his royal duties to protect his people by going out and taking care of any monsters harassing them. Of course, no one can know that the knight Iron Man is really the king, which leads to some fun assumptions about Iron Man’s identity.
@jacarandabanyan Tony’s mom forbid him to purposefully drive out his roommates so that he can have a room all to himself where he can tinker until morning light. She had to hear about it from friends, acquaintances, and other well-known socialites often enough when Tony went to boarding school and ran his roommates off there. Now that he’s in college, that behavior must stop. Luckily for Tony, he doesn’t even have to try to get the first two roommates at MIT to request a room switch. But then he meets his third roommate- a tall, handsome, funny man named James Rhodes. At first it was just natural joy at having a fellow competent engineer to hang out with, and perhaps the occasional dirty thought. But his crush on the man quickly grows. Before he knows it, Tony’s pining hard for his best friend. Every once in a while he thinks Rhodey might be interested too- but then he hears Rhodey lecturing a computer science senior for plying Tony with  alcohol at a party because “come on, man, kid’s only 16. Have a little class and try chasing skirts a little closer to your age.” After that, he’s convinced Rhodey will only ever see him as a friend and a kid.
psychiccatpanda - Tony works hard and puts in long hours.  So what if some of his long nights turn into very early mornings at CHew 2 OH.  The only drawback is his business partner and head baker, Steve, with his disappointed looks and his continual arguing.  When Steve's friend Bucky starts hanging around the shop, though, Tony notices.  Oh lord, he notices. A month or so later, one night when he and Steve are working after hours at Steve's place to plan their seasonal menu, Steve tells him that he's noticed him checking out Bucky.  Tony hits him with a decorative pillow and things kind of get out of hand.  Surveying the damage (let's face it - Steve's coffee table was never going to be quite right again), Steve turns to him, "I was just going to suggest you get some practice kissing before asking him out."  Oh.  Oh...
@tisfan So... the problem with being a necromancer is being able to practice one's skill. The local cemeteries won't even let you look at a dead body if you're not a relative. Tony Stark, budding necromancer, forges a marriage certificate for the John Doe so that he can practice his craft. Only to find that it works perfectly. Bucky is No Longer Dead, and 100% interested in staying married...
@abrighterdarkness He didn’t mean to snoop.  He knew that wasn’t what he was being paid for here--the loud laughter of the party echoing from down the hall where he was actually supposed to be, was clear enough reminder of that fact. All Tony wanted was two short minutes to breathe without being pawed at--yes, yes, that might be his job but breathing room was much appreciated just the same--and now he was stuck in this closet sized bathroom with what sounded like a mob-hit being discuss right outside the door.  He knew he should’ve turned this job down.
magica - Howard Stark had an idea. Some people - alright, most people, stop hitting me, Maria! - would say it was a terrible idea. But it was only a little injection of stuff based on that strange glowing blue cube they'd found in the Arctic. And Tony was absolutely willing, let's get that straight, Maria! How was Howard supposed to know that it'd enable Tony to open up his own portals? And if some mystical green energy happened to swamp Tony just as he was opening a portal to Egypt? Well, that wasn't his fault. The dark-haired, well-built Priest of Anubis that Tony manages to bring back with him? That is not his fault either, damn it, Maria!
@festiveferret - Tony could say with absolute confidence - at least, if he could say anything at all in his current predicament - that this was not the way his PR rep, Pepper, would have wanted him to come out. There were, he figured, several hundred ways that the day could have gone better, but if asked to rank the top three, he'd put them thusly:
1) That he decided to come out by having a wild, unabashed make out session with none other than Captain America, in the middle of a busy New York street.
2) That it was, in fact, the morning after their first "date" - a term he was applying loosely here - and not a tasteful reveal of a long-standing, safe, secure, adult relationship.
And 3) That at some point between the first floor lobby of his apartment building and the front door off his penthouse suite he'd suddenly, unexpectedly, and so-far permanently been turned into a ferret and no one knew.
It would also probably concern her to discover that of all these rather bewildering turns in his life, the one at the forefront of his mind was that ferrets couldn't send morning-after texts, and he didn't want Steve to think their little dalliance had been nothing more than an - albeit unfortunately public - one night stand.
Of one thing he was sure, however: Pepper was going to need a raise.

Falling - part 5
Lance/Guardienne route following the events of episode 26.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
I was a mess.
I’d spent the last weeks trying to figure out what to do with my life. Who to trust and, at the same time, how to save Eldarya.
Things were getting worse every day, earthquakes were getting stronger and more frequent, high tides and storms. Even the volcanic region was acting up, with new eruptions every week.
It seemed like the world was about to end soon.
I was pacing around my room trying to think about my next steps. Once Leiftan had been outed for the lying traitor he was, he’d been captured and was now held in the cell, strictly monitored. My heart still hurt at the thought, and I swallowed hard trying to keep my cool. I’d taken possession of some of his books before Ykhar could put her hands on them, and I found some very interesting rituals that only aengels (or deamons) could perform.
One of these was about accessing the deepest, innermost thoughts of whoever you most desired, something that would have been extremely useful when we had to deal with Naytili. But… alas, it had been his plan all along, hadn’t it? Let us run in circles and waste time so he could accomplish whatever he had devised.
Well, now I was going to use it on him. Poetic justice indeed.
I only had a tiny doubt about whose thoughts my heart most desired to access, his or Miiko’s. These past weeks I’d kept an eye on her, and I knew, without a doubt, she was keeping secrets from me.
Again.
Everyone in my life kept lying to me, but now I was strong enough now to take matters into my own hands, I was sick and tired of everyone making a fool of me.
Leiftan had lied to me since day one.
Miiko and the Light guard had tricked me in more ways than I could count, using me as a bait multiple times and destroying any chance of going back to my world and reunite with a family who would remember and love me. Apparently, they were still plotting something behind my back.
And… him.
I felt like punching the wall at the mere thought of him.
But he is the only one who has never lied to you, isn’t he? A little voice whispered in my head.
I didn’t care, he had kidnapped me, threatened me, almost killed me multiple times and, despite all that, when I’d been stupid enough to offer myself to him on a silver plate, he had rejected me.
I didn’t want to see him ever again.
Someone knocked on my door. It was an over-excited Aleja who’d run to tell me that the whole HQ was on high alert because Lance had been spotted in the Alchemy lab. I snorted in my mind, it hadn’t been the first time he’d stolen something from the guard lately, and they’d never managed to capture him.
I hadn’t even tried, at this point I just wanted to stay away from him and didn’t want to take part in this battle they had going on, they were both wrong anyway.
However, today he had perfect timing. If everyone was running around HQ trying to capture him, security around Leiftan would be looser, giving me the perfect chance to proceed with the ritual.
Having made up my mind, I gathered all the ingredients I needed, ingredients I had “borrowed” here and there in preparation for this day. There was already a thief running around pilfering HQ, no one suspected me in the least.
I paused for a moment thinking about how the old me, not even a couple of months ago, would have never conceived stealing, tricking the people around her and preparing illegal rituals.
The new me, however, was pissed.
I run through the chaotic corridors, people were busy inspecting every room and hole, it was perfect. I took the stairs that lead to the cave and, in a few seconds, I was in front of the prison door, no guard in sight.
I stepped in the room and my eyes immediately found Leiftan in his cage, a physical and magical prison much stronger than the one from before. This one was enough to hold a grown deamon, allowing for daily (but fruitless) interrogations. The sheer power required had been taking its toll on Miiko and everyone involved.
“Erika…” he said, immediately standing up, coming as close to me as the cell allowed. “What’s going on?”
“Apparently your business partner has showed up again for one of his nightly shopping expeditions in the Alchemy lab, everyone is trying to catch him to say hi.”
He scowled and was about to reply when he noticed I was setting up the place for the ritual.
“What are you doing?” he asked, “wait… I know what you are doing. You can’t Erika, it’s too dangerous, it requires lots of power and ability.”
“Stop cuddling me and treating me like a dumb, powerless fool,” I cried out.
“I don’t… Erika, I love you. You’re my soulmate. I’ll tell you anything you want to know, you don’t need to do this.”
“Because you’ve always been so forthcoming so far, right?!” I asked arching an eyebrow, sitting in the middle of the circle I’d drawn on the floor.
I started chanting the words of the spell, but as I was about to complete the incantation something happened.
The door burst open and Lance, followed by Miiko, Jamon and the whole Light guard, entered the cave. Damn… how could I’ve forgotten about the escape route I’d helped create not so long ago? Was I going to enter Leiftan’s mind, now? Or Miiko’s? Anyway, I was going to get some answers out of this.
The moment the last word came out of my mouth, time stopped and everyone got stuck frozen mid-movement. A blue light surrounded me and then quickly spread in the whole area, as if searching the right target, the one my heart most desired to connect with.
I watched it reach the person physically closest to me, Leiftan, and move on. It touched Nevra, Ezarel, Miiko, and still expanded and searched, until it reached the person I least suspected.
And then, it was only darkness.
........................
What a waste of time, I thought as we reached the top of the cliff. Memoria was supposed to hold the answers to all my questions, I’d done anything these past years, stolen, betrayed, murdered to be here and meet my people. To understand and free them from their suffering. And now that I was one step away from getting everything I wanted, I was stuck on this island with the girl.
I looked at her, she appeared so carefree, so innocent, while dancing with those worthless creatures. She had no idea, did she? About how rotten this world really was.
I almost envied her.
She kept dancing at the melody, surrounded by their lights, and I couldn’t help but stare, almost captivated by her movements, by her light-hearted smile, her aura.
I realised I’d taken a few steps forward as if to join her, only when she stopped and turned around, bumping into me.
“It’s only me…” I replied at her startled face, trying to reassure her.
Reassure her? Why would I? She was supposed to fear me.
Our eyes met and something twisted inside me, as if something long time dead had just awakened.
......................
What was that?
I thought when I was back in the darkness, bodyless but my conscious again my own.
I’d recognised that moment, that night on top of Memoria’s cliff. I’d seen myself, but with someone else’s eyes.
I was in Lance’s memories, I could experience his thoughts and feelings.
Before I could understand the meaning of all that, I lost myself again.
....................
Chanting the last words of the spell, I felt the barrier between our bodies disappear and my hand touch her own.
She felt… soft and warm. Even though I could tell she was feeling slightly cold in that cavern, her body wet, her white underwear leaving nothing to the imagination.
Suddenly, I was feeling warm too.
Looking into her violet eyes, I tried to discern what she was thinking. She was usually an open book, displaying all her emotions on her face for everyone to read and take advantage of, but in that moment, she was looking back at me as surprised and as captivated as I was. Before I could make up my mind and take a step back, she intertwined her fingers with mine. What…
“We’re out of options, Jamon…”
The ogre and the damn kitsune! How distracted could I have been to not hear them coming?!
I hid us behind a rock, threatening the girl not to make a sound. This looked like a secret meeting of some kind and I wanted to hear what they were discussing.
“I don’t like it either,” the uptight kitsune said, “but the Oracle is dead, and Eldarya is starting to give first signs of imminent destruction. I don’t know how long we have left.”
“Jamon knows Miiko, but…”
The girl tried to speak, I head to shut her up, but threats could only do so much. The feeling of her soft, warm body gave me a few ideas, so I lowered my lips to her skin and started kissing and biting on her neck and ear.
This was… more pleasing than I thought it would be. And I’d thought about doing things to her many times. How could I not? I was sure she would be shivering and blushing in barely concealed pleasure as she was doing right now, but I had no idea how this would affect me. I had to keep my thoughts straight.
“We have to complete the sacrifice, there’s no other choice.”
Ah… that was it, then. I knew it was coming. I knew these selfish, disgusting people would not hesitate to sacrifice us as soon as they got the chance. I’d been correct all along, taking my brother away had been the smartest choice.
“There are two dragons left, the deamon and… an aengel.”
I tightened my hold on the girl, they knew about her then, a wave of possessiveness I was unable to explain rushed through me.
“I don’t want to, but it’s the only choice we have…”
They wanted to sacrifice her. The sweet, little thing shivering in my arms. She was so innocent but at the same time so strong and brave. Taking on the man who had kidnapped and threatened her with such confidence. Helping the useless people who had taken everything away from her the same way they’d taken away everything from me and my brother.
They had no right to touch her, she was mine.
MINE.
Again, I lowered my lips to her neck and staked my claim.
..................
I was back into my own mind, in the same intangible nothingness as before.
Confused and surprised, but now I knew what Miiko was keeping from me. She wanted to sacrifice me to save Eldarya, and not just me, Valkyon, Leiftan and Lance too.
I felt betrayed all over again. A part of me knew she might see no other choice to save Eldarya and its people, that same part even agreed with her, maybe that was my destiny, maybe that was my purpose in this story, to die in order to save the world.
But… it wasn’t just me. I couldn’t even begin to accept the fact that three men who I cared about… yes, I cared about all three of them, had to die with me. I could die for the world, but could I take them with me?
No.
As soon as I realised that, I lost myself again.
.....................
The girl was looking at me with challenge in her eyes. How could she be here, so confidently facing the man who’d been about to kill her just a few days ago? I’d been seriously ready to do it, it was my intention and the best possible solution to all my problems, if she couldn’t be sacrificed there was no chance Eldarya could be saved. And there would’ve been no reason for them to try to sacrifice my brother too.
I’d been so stupid, trying to find thousands possible ways to avoid that, one crazier than the other, but when I’d seen her in the garden, under the Hundred Years Cherry Tree with that filthy deamon’s hands all over her, I’d lost my mind.
I was ready to put an end to everything, ready to be done with this.
And in the end… I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.
She’d laughed at me, mocked me for my ineptitude, the same way she was doing now.
She knew I couldn’t kill her, even if a part of me wanted to.
She’d finally found out that her sweet, nice boyfriend wasn’t so sweet and nice after all, and she’d run straight to me out of spite and hurt. She wanted to use me to forget and punish.
For once, our intentions aligned.
I quickly undressed her and lied her on the altar on top of Memoria’s cliff. Looking at her from above, half naked and willing… ready for me… she was a sight for sore eyes.
The moment I touched her, I knew she was exactly what I needed. I’d never seen anything so beautiful and perfect in my life and I was ready to lose myself in her.
For one brief moment I thought that even my twisted, sinful self could deserve something so pure and strong.
But then I saw her face, looking at the night sky. Her words, so far and distant, and I knew she wasn’t really here. And I realised, without a doubt, that I wanted everything from her, not just her body.
I wanted her heart, her mind and her soul.
................
“Are you having fun?” a voice said when I was back in the void. It wasn’t really a voice, there was no mouth to pronounce words and sounds, but the message was clear anyway.
“I’m sorry,” I projected, feeling like I needed to apologise for sneaking into his mind uninvited and… for other things.
“At least you know the truth about those sick, selfish bastards.”
“I know the truth about many things now…” I replied.
Silence fell for a few seconds, and I thought about everything I’d witnessed. The spell was supposed to show me his deepest feelings and most inner thoughts.
And, I’d seen me, just me. His mind was full of me.
“As soon as the spell is broken, we have exactly ten seconds to escape through the passage through sea. You can’t stay here, it’s too dangerous now.”
He hesitated, then added, almost pleadingly, “come with me.”
I could tell his tone was unsure, but it didn’t need to be, my mind was made up.
“Yes,” I simply replied. “Take me away, Lance.”

The Isle was always fun to walk through with Harry by my side. After the two of us made our relationship with Uma public and as my status on the Isle began to grow, the concept of personal space became smaller and smaller to us. We practically run this place like it’s our own kingdom, we shouldn’t have to make way for measly little ants. It sounds a little stuck up, but it was kind of how we looked at it. But if I thought that just walking through the Isle was a buzz, zooming through the alleyways on a bright purple scooter stolen from a poser princess was quite the drunken high. Speeding through the bazaar across from the chip shoppe with the wind blowing through my hair and the sea salt scent hitting me harder than ever before was the closest thing to euphoric that I had experienced since my first ‘long night’ with my captain and fellow first mate.
I couldn’t get too carried away, however. Now that Mal was on the Isle, I needed to get the things I needed for this plan before it was too late. As we started to get close to Dr. Facilier’s Voodoo Arcade, I tapped firmly on Harry’s shoulders. He slowed down and removed his helmet. “Why did we stop?”
“I need some groceries from here. I’ll meet you back at Uma’s in half an hour.”
“Uh...duckling,” Harry paused, what was he so confused about? “This is an arcade.”
“I don’t mean literal groceries, Harry. You know what I’m talking about.” Silence. He still looked confused. Oh for wicked’s sake it’s a good thing he’s pretty. I leaned closer to him to whisper. “Harry. Ingredients. For the potion?” Harry widened his eyes in realization and quickly returned to a look of question.
“You’re going to get that by yourself? Are you sure about that?”
“Um...yes? Look, as much as I love how you get when you’re angry and protective, we can’t have that around the Doctor. It’s not going to take long, anyway. He knows that he owes my family a favor, and even if he didn’t, I’m sure he’ll jump at the chance to avenge Mateo’s death. From what I heard, he’s one of the only parents here on the Isle that seems to care about his kids.” I jumped off the seat of the scooter and turned to face Harry, who had hung the helmet on one of the bike’s handles. “Don’t worry, okay? I’ve got my dagger in my left pocket and my chains in my right. Worst case scenario, the Isle loses another iconic villain and I have to wash my dagger when I come back to the Chip Shoppe.” I may or may not have exaggerated a bit, but Harry needed to know that I don’t need protection. Not this time around. Truthfully, I had no intention of even hurting the guy. Scare him, maybe. But if I laid too much of a hurtful finger on him or any of his kids, his friends on the other side would have me dead within the hour.
Harry rolled his eyes and threw the helmet off to the side of the alley. “Fine. But if you’re not back at the Chip Shoppe in an hour, I’m sending Gil and the crew after you.” I smiled in response as he raced away with a maniacal laugh. I turned towards the metal door to the arcade. Before I could even knock on the door, it had opened as if commanded by a magical spell. What I saw next was something I had not quite expected. She was short and clearly of a young age. Her skin had that familiar dark tone. Not the same kind that Uma had, no. This tone was more of a caramel shade while Uma’s was of semisweet chocolate. Her hair was pink and incredibly frizzed out. Her clothes were patched together and sewn very last minute. It was something I’m sure the Isle kids love, but the Auradon kids would likely scoff and tease at.
“Our games are out of order, come back later.” She began to close the door when I used my arm to prop it open. She had a strong mind, but her physical stature was nowhere near a match for mine.
“I’m not here for your games…” I read the back of the fan of cards she held in her hand. Celia’s Fortune Emporium. It seems the little girl had a bit of her own business going. “..Celia. And I’m not here for a card reading, either. I need to speak to the Doctor.” Celia walked out of the arcade and closed the door behind her, kicking a small piece of wood in to wedge the door open.
“Why do you wanna speak to my dad? I saw you come in with Hook, there’s no way you mean any good.” I quietly chuckled and crossed my arms across my chest. This girl was gonna make some waves someday, that was easy to tell.
“Good eye, but this has nothing to do with Harry. I’m here because your dad owes my family a favor, and I’ve come here to collect it. Simple as that.” Celia eyed me up and down skeptically.
“My dad doesn’t owe anyone anything. People owe him and he always gets his cut.”
“There’s a first time for everything, little rascal. Now come on, get yourself inside, you got a business to run!” The door opened wide and Dr Facilier himself walked through. Celia smiled and quickly walked inside, hugging her father on the way in. Dr Facilier turned to me and kicked the piece of wood away from the door, causing it to slowly shut. “Now I never thought I’d say this, Sofi, but you grew up!”
“Way to state the obvious, Doc.” I could see Celia peering through the envelope slip in the door. I never thought much about Mateo since the day I found him, but seeing little Celia’s eyes made me remember how much of a friend he was to me.
Even when he found out that his feelings for me weren’t shared, he insisted that he stay by my side as a right hand man of sorts. I was disgusted by the idea at first, especially in the mere days after my dad’s death. I scoffed and nearly gagged at the idea of a chain of command. I did what I did because I wanted to be fully and completely in charge of Neverland. However, there was quite a lot that had to be done. Not to mention that after multiple rounds of training, Mateo had become one of the strongest fighters Neverland had to offer. Little did I know he would need to use said knowledge to fight off a princess, a baby dragon, a dog lover and a thief who really needed a haircut.
“She has his eyes, you know. His smile too. Mateo’s.”
“Is that why you’re here? You’ve brought my boy to me? I swear since that attack on Neverland I’ve been scouring the Isle trying to find him but nobody’s said anything yet.” Oh no. I took a step closer to him, inhaling deep.
“Doc, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Mateo’s dead. All of the Lost Boys died when Mal and her friends invaded us. I only survived because I had the power to make a portal and escape.”
“You’re lying. Those kids came for Pan and Pan fled the scene. That Mal girl said that all the Lost Boys were taken care of.” His tone was firm, but there was a sliver of him that already knew what I was telling him was true.
“Pan’s been dead for years. Sure, they came for him, but the only way they would have found him is by picking up his bones in the Echo Caves. The Lost Boys did what they were ordered to do, protect their home by any means necessary. If it’s any consolation, he died loyal.” Silence. He knew, he didn’t want to admit it, but he knew he had lost his son. His silence made sense, tears on the Isle were considered the weakest potion of all, especially coming from a man. “What if I told you there was a way to avenge him? Him and all those boys that died protecting their home?”
“I’m guessing this is where your favor comes in? Nothing too high, girl. The favor was for your father, not you.”
“Just because my father’s dead, doesn’t mean the favor is too. Honestly, it’s a bit hefty. But the reward will be oh so sweet.” I take out a piece of paper that I had taken from the salon. As soon as I saw Mal I knew the plan was in motion. I quickly wrote down the things I needed and stuck it in my shirt until I knew I would need it again. “I need enough of everything on here for two gulps. And I need the exact ingredients. No substitutions. No knock-offs. And especially no exclusions. I watched as he read through the list. Everything on his face seemed normal and monotone until he got to the last four ingredients.
“A poisoned apple...three dalmatian bones...dust from a genie’s lamp?” He became bug eyed when he read the final touch. “Hair from a royal beast? Okay, there’s no way I can get that.” Oops. I honestly didn’t mean to write that one there.
“Oh, skip that last one. Uma and I are getting that one ourselves. But you read everything else correctly.”
“Are you out of your goddamn mind? We’re talking about going into the homes of some of the most dangerous villains on this island and stealing their prized possessions! I hope you know this ain’t gonna be easy!”
“Do you want an easy Sunday or do you want to avenge your son?” He looked up from the paper, a glint in his eye strong enough to kill. “You can get them whenever you want, but don’t put them into any kind of cauldron until I come back to you. All of these ingredients need to be put in at the same time. Do we have a deal, Doctor?” After a few moments of what I only assume could be his own mental debate, Dr. Facilier stuck the paper in his jacket pocket and smiled. “I guess it’s time for my friends on the other side do a little bit of dirty work. But let me tell you now, island child, if this plan of yours goes wrong, you and your pirates will be in a bad spot.” All I did in response was shake his hand, turn around, and walk away.
“Don’t worry boys,” I whisper to myself as I find myself getting closer and closer to the Chip Shoppe. “Your deaths will be avenged. Those shit excuses for VKs are going to wish they were never born.”

Yugioh S4 Ep7: Mai Gets a Day Job (Killing People For Sport)
So, I looked at the calendar and realized, if  I don’t get this post up this week then you’ll only have one update from me for the whole of November since I’m leaving for over a week again. :/ So I’m just gonna get right to the good stuff because it has taken just a crazy amount of time to get to episode 7.  How great would it be if I also got to episode 8. Real great, right?
So lets do this, I can do this, I can write a recap without getting insanely distracted, watch me do it: This episode starts with Tristan sticking to the fatal flaw of his character sheet and seeing listed at the very top “low key toilet obsession.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah Tristan.
And when you think “well, OK, they’re stuck by some historic Mesas, this is fine,” suddenly they are beset by the world’s most random biker gang of like 20 full grown adults/biker assassins.
Tumblr media
And it’s not super clear if their driver died out there in the Arizona desert, or if he just put on a different outfit and joined this gang, but it won’t matter because like...it’s a filler arc in Yugioh so there’s gonna be some deaths.
Tumblr media
This season seems to change genre like every 10 minutes, and so for right now we are in a Mad Max post-apocalyptic territory and PS every one of these bikers uses a lead pipe?
Tumblr media
I feel like this is way more violent than a gun???
(read more under the cut)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so, out the horizon comes another biker, like a masked cowboy on horseback, except she shoots these things instead of bullets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are trained assassins, by the way, just completely incapacitated by paper.
I just love the marketing team working alongside of this show that’s like “and what else can Yugioh cards do? destroy biker gangs. That’s right, one single card will absolutely destroy a biker!” and the writing staff was like “yeah, we can work that in. That totally works in universe, you don't even know.”
Tumblr media
It’s Mai! Back from murdering the hell out of Pegasus, I guess she decided to ninja these 20 bikers, and did it so devastatingly, that they somehow blew up a motorcycle next to a live fuel tank? Like we’re talking Oliver Queen precision throwing here and like...
...Mai’s only been gone like a year right???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so, seeing that this card is a harpy, which I dunno...doesn’t seem like it’s all that rare in comparison to a Blue Eyes or a God Card or I dunno any of the other signature cards we’ve heard about, Joey immediately recognizes Mai. Despite the fact that everything she is doing right now is completely out of character, and despite the fact that they are in freakin California.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
RIP to all 20 of the people in that gang of bikers, because no one followed this limo away from the scene--everyone was, I assume, hella dead.
Youknow, I never expected Mai to kill more people than Bakura. I would have predicted Joey before Mai. I would have predicted Rebecca before Mai. Literally anyone else on this show before Mai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seto, crawling out of this oversized castle that I guess...is back on the real estate market now...decides that the irresistible pull of dragons printed on paper cards is stronger than listening to his brother’s needs to put down the damn cards and make a contractually obligated theme park.
Tumblr media
I mean Mokuba kept him off the cards for nearly a whole year. What a healthy year that was for Seto.
Tumblr media
Back in Arizona, apparently they didn’t make it more than a mile before Tristan busted the car. Not really clear why or how this happened, but they’ve decided to argue with eachother about it despite the fact one of them is clearly magical and does not really need to eat or drink or even maybe sleep?
Like we’ve seen Bakura basically survive off of one plate of tacos and 2 pints of blood, so just make Pharaoh push the car all the way back to California. Or just make Pharaoh use his millennium AIM to call up His tomb keepers and be like “Marik, we need a lift.” or maybe summon a very real monster because that’s a thing now?
Course this would rely on Pharaoh remembering that he has superpowers, which, somehow after 4 seasons, he always forgets how to use the moment he uses them. It’s like reverse Sailor Moon--Usagi tends to level up her Super powers, Pharaoh kind of tosses them out of the window and goes “oops” and becomes more and more mortal every single season.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So instead of magic they will just use Tea.
Tumblr media
Amazing how none of them are really willing to date Tea seriously but they will acknowledge, out of the four of them, Tea is the best looking. So their strategy, bear with me, wasn’t to use the fact they’re children to get help from adults driving by, instead, the boys hid behind a rock so they could really make sure they were getting a hella pervy truck driver that would only stop for a single teenage girl stuck in the desert.
Only this group of kids would be like “Hey lets make sure the guy who picks us up is statistically most likely to be a serial killer” and then, weirdly enough, this horndog pedo truck driver ended up being the only person who didn’t try to kill them this entire episode.
Tumblr media
So, lets go back to SF but coming from the north side...which makes no sense...but then again, they put Mesas in Napa County.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So last episode I assumed Rex and Weevil were dropped off in Oakland, but Rex informs us this episode that they are in “the worst part of town”
Where they get robbed twice, only to be saved by Duke Devlin, who I guess just lives here now because maybe it’s the only place he can afford in this expensive as hell city? Maybe he isn’t bothered by the crime-rate after that week he spent on Kaiba’s blimp/Seaquest mmo adventure?
Anyway, for some reason Duke--who is a game shop owner/developer by day--is wandering around the Tenderloin as a vigilante and saving people by throwing dice at them as some sort of side hustle and this is never discussed at all.
I would watch that spinoff series. Religiously.
Tumblr media
Fun fact, there is definitely sketchy and bad parts of the Tenderloin you will know not to go to (you can smell it actually), but like a third of it is part of the best shopping district in the city and we used to just shop there unsupervised when I was a kid. It has an Anthropologie.
Not saying the parts that are bad aren’t bad. Whenever I drive through the non-shopping parts, I see at least one super sketch thing making me thankful I’m in the car. But I just don't know how Rex and Weevil managed to get robbed twice in one day. Just go five blocks in literally any direction.
Tumblr media
Bro and I were like...HOW did this shot happened from this angle on the freeway...and then I only just now realized it. Something I forgot about because it’s from my parent’s generation...maybe the animators weren’t aware that the Embarcadero fell down after Loma Prieta?
Tumblr media
So this was the SF landscape before the quake of 89′ (Which I have no memory of since I was a baby when this happened)
and after 89.
Tumblr media
Like maybe the animators they had on this team remembered an SF from their youth that had a huge iconic raised street wrapping all the way around one part of it and just...never got the memo that an Earthquake made the entire thing fall down?
Either way, Duke is either driving these two directly out of SF, or he is driving them into 1988 and is taking a lovely drive on the Old Embarcadero, an experience which does not exist anymore, and which makes a lot more sense since Duke has to be somewhat near downtown, going by the skyscrapers and the vicinity to the Tenderloin.
Man. In the Yugioh Universe, Loma Preita just never actually happened. How is that factoid alone not the weirdest part of this episode?
Tumblr media
(I am so glad Serenity is not here now that Duke’s back)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welcome back to the show Duke, glad you’re bringing...Rex and Weevil...
To be fair, Duke has absolutely no idea who is and isn’t Yugi’s friends. Duke just kind of shows up and pretends like he’s part of the gang, and the gang has lost so much brain matter from all the cards and all the dark magic, they just assume he’s been here the whole time.
Tumblr media
So at first I was like “this has to be a pun on Industrial Light and Magic” since there’s virtually no other film studios in the city--but ILM moved to SF 3-4 years after this season came out. So it’s just a weird coincidence, I guess. Or maybe it’s just a really uninspired name?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so Mai, who I guess has been just waiting on this ledge for 8 hours decides to drop in.
Tumblr media
Mai has evolved a lot since S1.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, although Mai is just...straight up evil now, at least we get to see it taken out on Pegasus who, as far as this show is concerned, is a pretty evil bastard.
A pretty evil bastard who took like 3-4 episodes to beat in S1 but Mai could just do it off-screen.
Tumblr media
It’s just funny that the entire time on the island Pegasus was probably pretty sure everyone there was trying to kill him EXCEPT for Mai and then the moment his back is turned he’s like “oh whaaaat?”
Like Bandit Keith is already in America. But rather than use Bandit Keith for this, lets use Mai to give Joey something to angst about. We can’t put her in a coma again--so lets instead get her vaguely possessed. Although seriously, if someone I liked did this to me I think I’d be over that crush really fast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then, speaking of Bandit Keith, we get to have a Greek Chorus this duel from the minibosses. Valon and the other guy with the handlebar-muttonchops.
Tumblr media
I looked up “where does Valon’s accent come from” and literally there is no consensus, as far as I know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s where this episode ends.
Now I’m gonna go out of town for a week and then will need another week to make more of these so I’ll be on another hiatus. Holding out if I’ll maybe bring a laptop or something to where I’m going so I can type out recaps when I’m bored.
The problem is having the uhhhhh photoshop to do the caps. I can’t bear to do this in MS Paint because hell will freeze over before I lose all of my actions and hotkeys I made specifically to reduce the time it takes to make these. But we shall see.
anyway, if you want to see these from the beginning, click here.

Rewrite the Stars
(Hiccup x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
This isn’t for anything or anyone in particular. I’ve just had this idea in my head for almost a full year and I’m proud to finally have made this. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have planning and writing it.
Word Count: 7726
Contains: Angst and fluff, sadness if you get emotional very easily like me lol
“Is it always gonna be this way? Cause-“
“I could get used to it.”
For the past 5 years, things have been this way, and needless to say, Hiccup wasn’t used to it by any means. He had been crushing on Astrid for years, so why didn’t this feel right? Of course he knew why, but did it just dawn upon him now? For quite some time, he started to notice how bored he had become with Astrid; as if he had been playing a role he thought he was meant for but honestly had no correlation to. Yes, he still enjoyed her company, but all of the feelings he had when he was just a teenager were all gone. Whenever Astrid would try and make a move on him in some way, he felt uncomfortable and made up some excuse about having work to do around the village. He was the chief after all, so she always believed him. Eventually, he accepted the fact that he no longer thought of Astrid that way; he still hasn’t told her either. In fact, he thought that way about someone else now.
For years, there had been one person in particular that had always been by his side. She had stuck by his side for as long as he could remember. Growing up, he was seen as nothing. The only reason nothing too drastic had happened to him was because he was the son of the chief, and was going to be chief himself one day. That didn’t stop people from messing with and/or thinking lowly of him. However, despite it all, (Y/N) was there for him.
(Y/N) was an orphan who had been found on the island as a baby. One day a small row boat washed up on shore, and some people on Berk checked it to see nothing but her and (sadly) the corpse of who appeared to be her mother. People say that there must have been a dragon or pirate attack of some kind, and (Y/N) survived because her ‘mother’ had hid her in a small basket of clothes. No one wanted to take her in, some afraid that she was a curse from the gods since her appearance made no sense and was so sudden, and was soon in the hands of the chief’s wife, Valka. She found (Y/N) to be a gift to have around the house despite what people said about her, and she raised her as if she was her own. About a year later, Valka had given birth to a child, happier than ever with the family she and Stoic had come to make. Sadly, when Valka was taken by dragons and presumed dead, Stoic tried his best to take care of his own son as well as (Y/N), as that was what Valka would have wanted; he couldn’t handle the trouble and time it was causing on him and asked Gobber if he could watch over her until she was old enough to live on her own at a reasonably age.
(Y/N) was passed from family to family until she was 7 years old. No one wanted her, some of them being on harder times than others or still believing she was a curse from the gods, but they knew if they turned down the offer, they would be hearing it from Stoic. He knew that Valka loved (Y/N) as if she was her own child, and always made sure that she was safe and secure; sadly, she was never truly loved by the people that watched over her. Having been moved around so much her entire life, she just wanted a place to call home for herself. About a year later, she got a small house built for herself. Even though she was on her own, Stoic always checked in every now and then to see how she was doing. Eventually, she properly got to meet Hiccup, and they became good friends. Neither of them really knew that they were seen as mistakes on Berk, so that’s why they got along so well. They didn’t need anyone else because they had each other to talk to and hang out with. During their teen years, things got pretty crazy. Hiccup was being trained by Gobber in the blacksmith, so that gave him and (Y/N) less time to spend time to spend time together. As for (Y/N), she knew she had to start growing up more as well. She was independent for sure, used to being alone, but she wanted to be more than just the orphan that no one wanted to care for and almost like an outcast on the island.
One major change as they grew up was them seeing the reality of the world they lived in. Yes, they knew there were dragons; yes, they knew they weren’t that well liked on Berk other than by Stoic and Gobber, but that didn’t stop them from growing up into the people they became as teens.
Hiccup focused on his work in the blacksmith, determined to make a difference on the island. He wanted to kill dragons and be one of the many others risking their lives for the cause/fight they were all involved in in some way. Eventually, he realized he wanted to do more than just repair weapons, and decided to make his own to help him in battle if he ever got the chance. He wasn’t that well built physically, but he was incredibly smart compared to everyone else on Berk. Hiccup wanted nothing more than to be apart of the ‘cool kids’ on Berk and make his father proud by being the viking he wanted him to be. He thought that’s what he had to be. (Y/N) thought the complete opposite, thinking that Hiccup was perfectly fine just the way he was.
Speaking of (Y/N), she wanted to learn more and grow up as quickly as she possibly could. She went to Hiccup, asking how to make certain weapons for herself, getting her own bow and set of arrows as well as a small knife to keep on her. She soon learned how to hunt and fish as well from Stoic, who was very glad to teach somebody that was interested in this type of stuff since Hiccup didn’t seem that way. She soon began to make her own clothes from the animals she hunted and sold some to help get by (instead of stealing the occasional loaf of bread or anything else she might need). (Y/N) wouldn’t steal often, only in times where she was that desperate for food or any other supplies. Not every hunting season is a good one after all. (Y/N) sometimes stop by the blacksmith shop as well to see Hiccup and how we was coming along being Gobber’s apprentice as well as making his own weapons and inventions. It warmed her heart to see how he was doing even if they didn’t get to see each other as often.
On one fateful night, one dragon attack made (Y/N) realize how far apart they truly were drifting. She was 16, Hiccup being 15, and (Y/N) was starting to rarely ever be seen around the island for reasons unknown. She was heading to the forest right before she heard the dragons fly overhead the island and vikings from every direction getting ready to fight. Wanting to help in someway, she headed to the blacksmith to get a weapon for herself to use (her bow and arrows wouldn’t be that effective and she didn’t want to waste them). Surprisingly, only Gobber was there, heating up some swords over the burning coals. She began to help him since Hiccup wasn’t there yet, but it made her worry a little. Did Hiccup get injured or killed? There have been so many close calls before and she didn’t want this to be his last.
Eventually, Hiccup ran in as (Y/N) was in the middle of doing his job at the coals. Some small talk later, (Y/N) was working on a sword for herself to use hopefully later that night. As she called out to Hiccup to help her with something, she noticed he wasn’t even listening; paying too much attention to his crush, Astrid, that wasn’t even 10 feet from the service window. (Y/N) felt a twist in her heart, as if it hurt to watch. Thinking it was just the coal fumes she shook her head and went back to work on her sword.
Meanwhile, Hiccup watched Astrid walk by as Gobber grabbed him before he could run out there. (Y/N) half listened in on their conversation, having heard it many times before, and didn’t even chime in until Hiccup accidentally activated one of his latest inventions that was supposed to help him shoot down a dragon.
“Hiccup, you’ve almost killed more vikings than you have dragons. Gobber’s right. You need to be more realistic about these things. Wait until you feel like you’re truly ready to go out and fight.”
Of course, Hiccup, having had these conversations with her as well, had an immediate response. “I am ready! I just need to work around some things like the mild calibration issues and-” He was cut off by Gobber stepping back into the conversation. “Hiccup, if you ever want to get out there to fight dragons, you need to stop all..” He paused for a moment, trying to find the right word, “this.” He gestured to Hiccup, who was both annoyed and confused.
“But you just pointed to all of me.”
“Yes, that’s it! Stop being all of you.”
It made (Y/N)’s heart break at what was being said. Even if Gobber was like a second father to Hiccup and knew he only wanted to help him, hearing those words being said made her feel awful. Of course, having heard all of this before, Hiccup didn’t seem too offended by Gobber’s statement. (Y/N) was about to head out with her sword in hand before Gobber stopped her. “Hold on, lass.” He took her sword from her, examining it. “It’s too dull. Hiccup,” he caught the young boy’s attention as he was still grudging over what was said to him not 2 minutes ago. “Sharpen (Y/N)’s sword, now. Then get back to work on repairing the other weapons in the window.” Gobber dropped the sword in Hiccup’s arms, making him stumble for a moment from the weight before carrying it over somewhere in the workshop to sharpen it. (Y/N) followed him, feeling the need to say something.
“Hiccup, you don’t have to-” she was cut off by him abruptly. “It’s fine, (Y/N). I’m used to these things by now anyway. I know you are too, and you’re just trying to look out for me.” He turned the sword so that the other side got sharpened by the stone. “But one day, I will get out there. Because killing a dragon is everything around here.” Hiccup began to explain all the types of dragons that come and go the most on Berk, each one getting more and more serious as in what would happen if he managed to kill one of them. (Y/N) began to realize that he seemed very committed to this, as if it was the only thing that mattered. He wasn’t for any of the other viking-like things on Berk, so what made this one the most important thing in his life?
..get me at least noticed.
..would definitely get me a girlfriend.
..two heads, twice the status.
That was it: he only cared about this because it affected his image and what people would think of him. Especially his father. Thor knows how much Hiccup would appreciate more love and support for who he was from his father rather than hear a lecture every now and then about how much better he should/could be doing.
(Y/N) didn’t want Hiccup to try so hard to get people to like him. He constantly would try so hard to make his father proud or just do things right by being helpful in a way others wanted to be, but each attempt would end up with something going wrong whether it was a minor or major issue to take care of afterwards. She didn’t want to see him try so hard only to just get yelled at more, but that’s also what she loved about him. He was always so confident in what could happen and never gave up no matter how impossible everyone said it (or he) was. So that’s why she still continued to support him. When Gobber left to go help in the fight, Hiccup seized his opportunity and went out to go try his new invention. (Y/N) tried to stop him, saying how someone needed to work the shop, but he only replied saying that she could do it for him. However, just like Hiccup, she was too stubborn and ran after him to make sure he was okay and didn’t get killed. That was the last thing she wanted, especially from her hands.
From that moment on, she was by his side. She hadn’t been there for him the past few years, thinking that he didn’t really need her since he seemed to have the rest of his life planned out, and thought that she could help him with whatever he was trying to accomplish. And if he was wrong, she would help steer him in the right direction. She didn’t want him to pretend to be someone he truly wasn’t only to result in chaos; she wanted him to live his life the way he wanted. Not what someone or everyone else thought.
As the years went by, she remained by his side just like she promised. Shooting down Toothless and finding him, some of the training's with Toothless, the battle of Red Death, when he changed Berk for the better, fighting with Dagur and other people who were trouble, finding a dragon of her own with his help, finding Hiccup’s mother, losing his father, defeating Drago, and most important of all, becoming the chief of Berk.
(Y/N) was basically his second half, always helping out and being there for him, guiding him through tough/difficult times where he didn’t know what to do, everything. They were best friends again just like when they were kids. However, best friends don’t fall in love with one another. It wasn’t until Hiccup got with Astrid after the battle of Red Death that (Y/N) realized she had developed feelings for him. However, he had been dreaming of being with her for years on end, and she promised to always support and help with everything that he did. She wanted him to be happy, and if that meant that he was with Astrid, then so be it.
5 years had passed and she’s still in love with him and everything he does. And Hiccup didn’t even realize his feelings for her until it was almost too late. He didn’t feel anything with Astrid anymore, realizing how she had never really cared for him that much until the last year or so. He had been crushing on her for so long that he was blindsided from who he truly did love. The person that was always there for him, in good times and in bad. He truly was in love with (Y/N). He wanted to break off his betrothal and marriage with Astrid, and he technically had the power to do so, but he had no idea how to bring it up to her. Either way, he knew it would result in her crying and possibly punching Hiccup a few dozen times. He was ready for it, knowing it had to come eventually, but he first had to talk with (Y/N) about this. After all, she was just as much a part of this decision as he was.
Hiccup and (Y/N) were out discovering more land one day, Hiccup leaving Gobber in charge of Berk, and he decided now would be the perfect time to bring up how he felt towards (Y/N). She was currently putting out the mini fire they had made for the evening as well as cleaning/sharpening her arrows. They had made great progress mapping out more uncharted land stayed out longer than intended, but neither of them minded. Now it was sunset and were about to head back to Berk. A few minutes had passed before Hiccup finally gained the courage to start the conversation he had been planning through his head all day. He walked over, sitting down next to her. “Hey, have you been thinking about what you want for the future?”
This made (Y/N) glance at him, clearly a little confused about the sudden question brought upon her. She shrugged, continuing to clean her arrows as they were used earlier that day. “I mean, not really. I figured we would just keep doing our regular thing. You be chief, I continue to be an outcast that most on Berk haven’t really accepted,” she laughed softly at her own statement, but Hiccup definitely wasn’t amused. The sad thing was that she wasn’t wrong either. People still didn’t like her all that much. Lots had grown accustomed to her, but lots still didn’t trust her. She continued speaking.
“And we’d still continue to map out the world together as well as find more if not new dragons. But overall,” she looked to him, smiling contently, “I couldn’t ask for a better future.” And once again, she wasn’t wrong. Even if it wasn’t the future she had hoped for, she was still happy to spend time with the ones she loved, especially Hiccup. “As long as I have you, Toothless, and (D/N) by my side, I’ve got nothing to worry about.”
(D/N) was (Y/N)’s dragon she had gotten about 2 years prior, (almost) a new species that Hiccup and herself called a Light Fury. She couldn’t be happier with (D/N) in her life, and didn’t plan on losing her.
Hiccup couldn’t help but stare at her longingly, as if he was desperate to hold her and tell her the exact same thing and more in hopes that she would reciprocate his feelings. But of course, he had to take this slow and seriously. It was a major matter to deal with, and he didn’t want to scare her off by being too forward. Another statement from her brought him away from his thoughts. “Why do you ask?”
He took a deep breath, turning to face her as she continued to clean her arrows. He probably shouldn’t do this while she technically had a weapon on her but hey, he had to break the ice sometime. “I, uh,” Hiccup paused for a moment, deciding his words carefully. “It’s about Astrid.”
(Y/N) stopped what she was doing and looked to him carefully, making sure she heard him right. She placed her arrows on the ground before looking to him as well. “Okay. What about her? You nervous for the wedding or something?” Hiccup chuckled nervously, holding the back of his neck. “Something like that, you could say.” He looked at the now dying fire to avoid any eye contact that would cause (Y/N) to basically find out herself. She waited for him to continue, starting to worry about where he was going with this.
“I want to call off the wedding,” Hiccup looked back at (Y/N), proving to her that he was serious. “And break up with Astrid entirely.”
(Y/N) was in complete shock. Where did this come from? He always loved her and now he almost seemed to want nothing to do with her now. “What in the name of Thor are you talking about, Hiccup?”
“I already said. I want to end things with Astrid. I don’t love her anymore.”
She stared into his eyes to see if he was being serious, and he was. As if he was completely sure about this decision. She couldn’t think of anything else to say, truly speechless. (Y/N) began to think about why he would want this but came to no conclusion. “What made you want to do this?”
Hiccup didn’t hesitate. He was finally having this conversation so it was now or never. “You.” He paused a moment, choosing his next words carefully. “(Y/N), I’ve realized now that I never truly loved Astrid. Yes, she’s a great friend, but I don’t want to spend the rest of my life with her. I don’t feel as happy with her as I do with you. And trust me when I say that I have thought about this and this is what I want. You are the one that I want.” Hiccup took hold of (Y/N)’s hand as she began to process his words. Normally, she would have been ecstatic to hear this, and she was at first. But then she thought about what would happen if she said yes. First, there would be Astrid who would hate her for the rest of their lives. Second, there would be tons of people on Berk who would not only hate her more, but possibly Hiccup as well for doing something like this. Not to mention the fact that people already thought she was a curse among them and this would only make matter worse, threatening her’s as well as Hiccup’s life. She looked down, feeling the need to cry. She had to say no for the sake of both of them. The last thing she wanted was for him to get hurt.
“Hiccup, I..” She struggled to speak, this being hard on her. She looked away, not wanting to see his face as she said this. “I can’t be with you.” She let go of his hand, speaking softly, in fear that she might cry. She didn’t want to break his heart, but she had no choice. She could practically feel his eyes as he stared at her, wanting more to her answer. “You’re the chief, the one everyone looks to in times of need. Doing something like this would only ruin you and what people did on Berk.”
“Then, they’re small minded people.” Hiccup reached for her and again, only for her to pull away and look down at the fire as the last few flames burned. As usual, he didn’t give up and kept trying. “Why do you care what they think? For as long as I’ve known you, you only cared for yourself and those you care about. How is this any different?”
“It’s not just them.” (Y/N) glanced back at him, shaking her head. “You’ve never had someone look at you and wish you were dead, no matter how many good things you did for others.” She paused, eyes starting to tear up again as she stared into his eyes. “I could never do that to you, much less us.” (Y/N) stood up, walking over to (D/N) to get ready to leave.
Hiccup stood as well about to follow her. “Do you feel the same way?”
(Y/N) froze, unable to move as she messed with (D/N)’s saddle. She knew the answer, but she couldn’t let him know, knowing that if he knew, he would not stop to try and win her heart. But jokes on him, he already has. “We should get going. It’s getting dark out.” She spoke quietly but Hiccup was still able to hear her. And he had no intention of ending the conversation here.
“You say that it’s not right, that fate is pulling you away and out of reach from me. Who can stop me and decide that you’re not the one who I want?” (Y/N) didn’t stop her next words from coming out. She couldn’t help it, turning around to face him. “Hiccup, if we do this, chaos may happen throughout Berk. Thus leading to decisions that I know you won’t want to make. No one will ever let you live it down if we went through with this.”
“I don’t care. I love you.”
Hiccup was shocked by his words as well as (Y/N) was. They stared each other down, waiting for the other to do/say something. Eventually, (Y/N) turned back around to fix up (D/N)’s saddle for the flight back home, not saying a word. Hiccup, however, did. He walked over to her as he spoke.
“People say that the stars are stories written by the gods as time passes.”
Confused would be an understatement for a reaction to his words. “Hiccup, what are you saying?”
“I’m saying let’s rewrite the stars, (Y/N). Nothing can keep us apart. It’s up to you and it’s up to me to make this decision.”
He stood on the other side of (D/N), waiting for (Y/N) to look up at him. She eventually did, but not for long as she turned back around to walk over and get her bow and arrows. Hiccup still persisted with his goal fresh in mind.
“No one has say in what we do or who we get to be. So why are you leaving this up to them?” He reached out to her as she turned back around to walk over to her dragon. Getting caught by his arm grabbing hold of her by her waist, she finally stopped, looking him in the eye as he spoke.
“We can continue to live out our lives, and discover more of the world. Together.”
(Y/N) continues to stare at him, a mix of desire and sorrow in her eyes as she rethought her decision, but she knew what was the right choice in her mind. She shook her head, looking down. Her voice dropped to a whisper. “I’m sorry, Hiccup.” She pulled away from him, going back to (D/N) and putting her things in place before getting on her back and taking off without another word.
Hiccup, being the stubborn and relentless viking that he is, quickly got on Toothless’ back and followed (Y/N) into the sky. He called out to her, over and over, begging her to rethink her choice and finally be happy with him, to not care what anyone else thought. He had lived always caring about what other people thought of him, and now that he was chief, he could see how blind he was as a teenager to think those things for years on end. He wanted (Y/N) to realize the same thing, but she didn’t want to hear it, no matter how convincing his words were.
“Everything keeps us apart, Hiccup. We’re lucky to see each other as much as we already do. Don’t make this worse for either of us.” (Y/N) looks to him as she speaks, holding back any tears from falling. She looks down to see the necklace he got her a few years ago hanging from her neck, symbolizing how much she meant to him. It was a small diamond shaped stone, rough on the edges but smooth on the front and back. The symbol on the front represented creativity, fire, and most importantly, love. But now, the necklace only reminded her of how she broke her best friend’s heart, and ruined any chance of being with him.
(Y/N) took it off, staring at it for a second. “You’re not the one I was meant to find, Hiccup.” She tossed it to the side of her, making it fall towards the ocean. She began to fly ahead of Hiccup and Toothless and passing the sun as it set, not wanting to face him anymore. Hiccup watched her actions, confused to see her throw something before flying off. He made Toothless dive down quickly, shocked when he saw the necklace free falling. He felt his heart break, almost wanting to cry at the fact that she wanted to get rid of it that badly after having this conversation. Of course, he was determined to change her mine and wouldn’t give up. Once he caught it, he stored it in his pocket before making Toothless fly back up to hopefully catch up with (Y/N).
Meanwhile, (Y/N) didn’t even notice that Hiccup had gone to retrieve her necklace. She noticed how silent it had became before realizing that he was gone. She thought she must have gone back to Berk, not wanting to be around her due to heart break. Hopefully their friendship wouldn’t be ruined. She stood up atop of (D/N)’s back, looking around to see if he truly was gone. Whether it was the wind or her heart breaking as well, she teared up but still refused to cry. She stayed standing, taking deep breaths to calm herself down. Eventually, Hiccup caught up to her, startling (Y/N) and making her almost fall off her dragon. She noticed him about to speak and cut him off before he could try.
“How can the world truly be ours?”
She stared at him for a minute feeling her heart break further from the way he looked at her. She sighed, not wanting to bear looking at him anymore and went to sit back down on (D/N). Unfortunately, she missed her footing and fell off her back, plummeting towards the sea below. Hiccup felt his heart drop and immediately dived down after her, calling her name. He already lost his father, and even though he knew that Toothless or (D/N) could catch her as well, he needed to assure himself that she was going to be okay. The last thing he wanted to lose was her. (Y/N) let out a short scream, first calling out to (D/N) (who was stopped by Toothless from going after her). She eventually stabilized herself as she fell, as if she was standing vertically and looked up, only shocked to see her best friend diving down towards her. “Hiccup what are you doing?!”
He didn’t respond, only reaching out to her as if asking for her hand. “All I want is to fly with you, (Y/N)!”
Out of instinct, she reached for him as well, as if doing so would save her life immediately even though she knew they would still continue to fall. He eventually reached her, tightly holding onto her hand as if she would disappear the second he let go. “Hiccup, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but this isn’t flying! We’re falling at rapid speeds!” He reached out to grab her other hand and she took his almost immediately. He pulled her closer so that they were holding onto each other’s arms yet never breaking eye contact. They soon balanced out so that they were parallel to the ocean, but they continued to stare at each other. Hiccup continued with trying to convince (Y/N) once again.
“Then we’ll fall!” He paused, looking her in the eye almost desperately. “As long as I’m with you,” he pulled her closer to him, their foreheads touching. “I know everything will be okay.” He closed his eyes, wanting to just live in this moment forever. (Y/N) was touched by his words, unable to help herself by leaning forward as well and closing her eyes. Hiccup could have kissed her then and there, but he didn’t want to over step his boundaries. (Y/N) was the first to pull away.
“If that’s what you want, then give me all of you.” She looked into his eyes. “And I’ll do the same in return.” Hiccup couldn’t help but grin at her words, feeling as though he finally won her over. He noticed her frown slightly, causing him to do the same. (Y/N) glanced down for a moment. “But it still feels impossible..” She let go of his hands, the wind pulling her away from him. Hiccup felt his heart drop again, like he already lost her. He grabbed hold of her hand that was closest to him. “The say that it’s possible!”
They began to hear their dragons diving down to get them, knowing they would soon part completely. Hiccup waited anxiously for her to answer and she eventually did, smiling wide and eyes dilating as she looked at him. “Everything in this world is a part of our history. And it’s always changing. Everything except the stars. They’re always being added onto and losing many others every day.” She could feel Hiccup hold onto her hand tighter as he grinned wide, making her do the same. “Hiccup, how do we rewrite the stars?”
They heard both Toothless and (D/N) coming down and knew they had to part. But this moment, was as if it was in slow motion. Looking into one another’s eyes, smiling softly; hands still touching, slowly letting go; and both of them thinking the same thing.
‘Nothing can keep us apart.’
Toothless and (D/N) got their respective riders, immediately flying up and away from the ocean, causing water to fly up as well. They quickly went higher into the sky to continue their flight home.
Home..
How would they explain all of this, let alone go back to Berk like nothing happened? Hiccup would have to call off the betrothal between him and Astrid and explain why, betroth himself to (Y/N) before they could actually get married, and so much more. Not to mention having to deal with people in the village that believed in (Y/N) being a curse from the gods. Some may turn to/on him about being the chief of the tribe. Only Thor knows what would happen if the worst really did come.
As for (Y/N), she would have to deal with more hate towards her, especially from Astrid. She had no problem fighting enemies and almost killing people, so would could she possibly do to (Y/N)? Not to mention she would lose being friends with the rest of the dragon riders most likely. The twins constantly joked about her being the spouse of Loki himself sent to rule over and destroy them all, but after this, they might actually be serious about it.
(Y/N) looked over at the sunset, seeing how dark the sky was starting to get. She was thinking about all the possibilities about what would happen when they got back when Hiccup and Toothless got caught in her line of view. They flew closer to (Y/N) and (D/N). “Hey, you okay?” Hiccup said, noticing how uneasy she looked, to which she only nodded in reply, looking ahead of where they were flying. She didn’t want to worry him, but that was futile since he knew her so well.
He had Toothless pull back and away from (Y/N) and (D/N), soon turning so that they were somewhat flying upside down and above the other two. (Y/N) didn’t even notice that Hiccup and Toothless had ‘gone’, being too lost in her own thoughts, until Hiccup had appeared upside and almost right next to her. She gasped, startled, and looked away, laughing to softly to herself. She glanced back up at him, questioning his actions. He smiled as he replied.
“Nothing can keep us apart, (Y/N). I promise you that.” He was upside down, but he was still looking her in the eye and serious about what he said. He only flew upside down to prove his point.
Nothing can keep us apart. And I won’t let distance or people stop us from being together. You’re the one I was meant to be with.
She read the look in his eyes, seeing everything that he wanted to say and more. She felt the same, wanting to just forget everyone else and focus on having a life with him and seeing more and more of the world together.
(Y/N) smiled and made (D/N) fly forward, looking behind at Hiccup as he went back to flying regularly and following (Y/N) and (D/N) on Toothless. “You’re right, Hiccup. This is up to you and me.” She grinned, feeling every ounce of doubt lift off and leave her entirely. She felt.. Free.
(D/N) flew up, doing a back loop high above Toothless, feeling how her rider and beginning to feel the same way. Just free to whatever she wanted to in the sky as she flew around. Having no limits never felt great before. Maybe it was because she was with the ones she cared about, or just feeling the emotion around her, but (D/N) just couldn’t help herself. (Y/N) laughed softly, smiling to herself at her dragon’s actions. As the two came down, Hiccup smiled at (Y/N), knowing that he finally got through to her. Her next words definitely proved that fact.
“No one can say what we get to be!”
(Y/N) grinned, quickly flying ahead of Toothless and Hiccup, not realizing or caring how fast she was going. She laughed, extending her arms out and feeling the wind against her. For the first time ever, she was letting go of every bad thing that happened to her. Saying goodbye to all the times she felt lost. To all the times things were never in her favor instead of making both herself and others happy. To all the sorrow and regret, to all the heartache she experienced growing up. She was finally forgetting everything she learned/knew growing up with no one to guide her, and realizing what it was like to feel someone deeply care for her, and even love her. In this moment, she didn’t care about anything or anyone else other than herself and the one that stole her heart so many years ago.
Hiccup couldn’t help but stare at her in awe as he and Toothless caught up to them, flying side by side. He had never seen (Y/N) so happy before, and it made him happy to see her finally let herself be happy. For as long as he knew her, he never saw her be truly happy with the way she lived. She constantly moved from house to house, never truly wanted, and was still outcasted by lots of people on Berk. If it weren’t for Stoic and Valka, (Y/N) most likely would have been abandoned by everyone, or worse.. Of course Hiccup didn’t want to think about the past. He wanted to focus on the now rather than the past, and the now meant finally being with the one he truly loved.
The rest of the flight home mostly contained silence between the two of them, every now and then only speaking up about which way to go. The sun had set, leaving the moon and the stars to be their only light to guide them. Eventually they got back to Berk, and despite it being so late, some people were still doing things around the island. In particular, Astrid and the other dragon riders were waiting around for Hiccup to get back. Apparently there had been stuff happening that day that needed to be dealt with almost immediately.
(Y/N) watched the group talk as she got off of (D/N), grabbing her things and walking back to her house. Hiccup caught sight of her leaving and quickly made up some excuse about having to do more work at his house. Astrid stayed for a moment longer, talking with him. (Y/N) had heard Hiccup speak and turned around, thinking he was talking to her. She glanced over just in time to see the man she loved and that (supposedly) loved her back kiss the girl he was betrothed to. She couldn’t bear the sight and looked away.
However, she knew that Hiccup would want to talk to her one last time tonight so she stayed around anyway. She passed the time by staring up at the stars, picking out the constellations and trying to make up her own. However, that was hard when most of them were already made. She frowned. Most stars were used in the constellations already written up in the sky. How would she and Hiccup make their own?
Soon Hiccup finished his talk with Astrid, making sure she was gone before walking over to (Y/N). He called out to her, noticing how distracted she seemed to be. He called out to her again as he stood next to her, finally grabbing her attention. (Y/N) turned her head to look at Hiccup, moving some hair out of her face before looking at him again.  “Yeah?” Hiccup quickly noticed the look in her eye: worry. It was back, not by much but it was still there.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she smiled shyly, shaking her head. “Just looking at the stars.”
(Y/N) looked back up at the sky, admiring all the hundreds of stars and tons of constellations (but mostly just wanting to avoid eye contact). Hiccup say through her words, noticing her actions. But then he thought about what she said again. Looking at the stars.. Where was she going with this? “What about the stars?”
“Just.. The constellations. Trying to find them. Almost all of them seem to be used for constellations actually.”
Hiccup looked up at the stars as well, noticing that she was right. “Have you tried making your own?”
(Y/N) tensed up, feeling as though he read her mind (granted he did always have a gift for figuring out what she was thinking one way or another), and nodded slowly. “I’ve tried. I don’t think I can..”
Hiccup realized where she was going with this. “Why do you say that?”
“Because so many stars have been made into constellations and stories are made behind them, and others have made constellations from those same stars as well, but I..” She turned her body completely to look at him. “We can’t use those stars to make our constellation. No one will care for it or want it to be a part of our history.” She sighed, looking down. “Please tell me how we’re supposed rewrite the stars for ourselves.” Hiccup honestly had no words for what to say at first. He knew where she was coming from, and he thought the same things at first. And now that they had finally talked about all of this, he didn’t know how to go around everything that he had to do now. He looked down, shrugging and shaking his head. “I..”
(Y/N) was patient, waiting for him to say something, anything that would help their situation. After a few minutes of silence, she sighed. “I’m sorry..” She began to walk away but Hiccup grabbed her hand and pulled her close. He looked her in the eye, deciding to just speak from the heart.
“(Y/N), ever since I met you, you were always there for me. Working in the blacksmith, finding and training Toothless, fighting any enemies standing in our way, finding my mom,” he took a deep breath, keeping himself from crying. “Losing my dad, becoming chief. Literally no matter what has happened you’ve been there by my side. However, I haven’t done the same for you, and I hate myself for it. I should have been a better friend to you growing up. It wasn’t until a year or so ago that I realized how blind I was about how I truly felt about you and how much I needed you in my life. I love you so much, (Y/N).” He reached into his pocket, taking out the necklace that (Y/N) could have sworn she had thrown into the ocean earlier that day. She was so relieved to see it again. Hiccup continued to speak. “And that’s why I want to betroth myself to you. I will end things with Astrid tomorrow, I promise you. Just.. Just please say you’ll be mine.”
(Y/N) stared down at the necklace in his hand, knowing what it symbolized now. It was the item that would represent that they were going to get married and be together for as long as they wished. Hiccup had the power to do this, and she knew it, but she was still worried about the what if’s that could happen. She took a deep breath she didn’t realize she needed before she spoke.
“Hiccup, you know I want you.” She grabbed his hand that held the necklace, holding it tightly. “I’ve wanted you for years and I don’t deny it. But.. If this happens, so much will change. Maybe I wouldn’t mind it if it didn’t affect you, but it sadly would. We’d be forced to make choices that we don’t want to make. I don’t want you to wake up a year from now or 10 or 50 and regret making this decision that will cause so many outcomes.” She paused, holding back the tears forming in her eyes. “I’m sorry, but I just can’t have you,” she whispered, afraid to meet his eye. “My hands are tied and I can’t help you end the way we want it to.” (Y/N) let got of his hand, stepping back and finally looking him in the eye. He was about to cry, causing a couple tears to fall from her. She couldn’t bear to look at him anymore and turned around, walking home with (D/N).
Hiccup stood there, frozen and unable to move. For once, he couldn’t convince someone he cared about to do what he thought was the right thing. He felt hopeless. But he had to stay positive about everything. He had to. If he didn’t (Y/N) by his side, he didn’t know what he would do with himself. He always had her in his life, and because of this, they might end up farther apart than ever..
He shook his head. “No, not like this.” He looked down at her necklace, clenching it in his hands. “I will rewrite the stars for us, (Y/N). I promise.”

ATLA fic rec master-list
A place to organize the ATLA fanfic I like.
I tend to like Zuko-centric stuff, and stories that focus not exclusively on romance (though I do read many different ships as well). As it will become apparent, my taste is rather eclectic, so there can be things in it for everyone.
Most links are to AO3, I just prefer it that much to the layout of ffnet.  Also, if I haven’t tagged someone in Tumblr correctly, please give me a shout.
General AUs / Gaang/ adventure (various ships)
The Worst Prisoner  by @emletish-fish  (WIP) (Zutara) - in this AU starting already from S1, Zuko becomes friends with the Gaang much, much sooner, which means there is lots of amazing
Zuko’s Tiny Dilemma by @botherkupo (slight Zutara) S1 Zuko agebending story featuring Iroh as a teapot!  Tiny, grumpy Zuko gets the Mumtara treatment and has great Gaang content. It sweet and funny. Now with an Azula-centric spin-off No Returns, No Refunds
The Undying Fire series by @botherkupo  -  (there are some ships, but the main focus is Gen) This is an epic Zuko is a firehealer, AU starting with The Blue Spirit, and spanning through each season. Extremely good, lots of Gaang focus, great Aang and Zuko friendship vibes and so much more. I don’t want to spoil it, other than, if you haven’t read it, go read it now!
Another Brother by @awesomeavocadolove    (Gen, WIP) Zuko is adopted by Hakoda, grows up as WaterTribe, as another sibling of Sokka and Katara.
The Avatar Makes Three by @awesomeavocadolove (Gen, WIP) - Aang loses, but before he dies, he divides the Avatar spirit between Zuko, Katara and Toph.
Ozymandias, King of Kings by @Think_of_a_Wonderful_Thought (WIP) - (Zuko/Sokka) This is a pretty dark AU, where instead of exile, Zuko was sent to a work camp before he’s freed by Aang and the others. The Zuko of this story is a pretty traumatized fellow, who is simply sick of everything.
Southern Lights by @colourwhirled - (WIP, it’s Zutara, but it’s so much more). An AU world, where the Avatar has disappeared, the empire won the war. Iroh sets up a specialized unit with a chill airbender, a waterbending prodigy, a run away earth-bender and a banished prince.  There is politics, intrigue, adventure, cross-bending, and while the world is different the characters remain very recognizable.)
In His Shoes by @awesomeavocadolove (Zuko/Sokka) It’s a bodyswap AU in Ba Sing Se. I love Ba Sing Se era Zuko and I love any AU where the Gaang sees this version of him.
We Ourselves Must Walk the Path by @winterskywrites  (Gen) - short S3 AU where the Gaang really takes Zuko as prisoner in The Western Air Temple.
Fight by Electrons (Gen, WIP ) Zuko chooses differently in Ba Sing Se - now he’s the Gaang’s tour-guide to the Fire Nation. Lots of world-building around the Fire Nation. The story is on hiatus, but it’s still well-worth a read.
Unchained Melody by @awesomeavocadolove (WIP) (Zuko/Sokka), Sokka is stuck in spirit form, only Zuko can see him, S1 AU where Zuko and spirit-form Sokka are forced to hang out together. I mean how could it be wrong?
Little Zuko v the World by @muffinlance (Gen, WIP) Zuko finds Aang when they are both 12 in this S1 AU, which is written with a sweet humour.
Fate Deferred by @catie-does-things  (WIP, Zutara) In this story Aang sleeps for another ten years before Zuko and Katara find him. It’s a story of Dadko and Momtara taking Aang to get his training in a world that ended up in a very different way after Sozin’s comet. It weaves together past and present masterfully and it’s as fun to follow the new adventures as it is to follow the past story of Zuko and Katara and see how things ended up as they are.
A Tale of Ice and Water by @soopersara (WIP) (pre-Zutara) - a canon-close AU featuring Avatar Katara, who still finds Aang in the ice.
Zutara
Frozen @Aris Merquoni   - The ultimate Zuko gets captured at the North Pole fic.
The Descent @chromeknickers  - S1 AU - Katara goes down to the spirit world to drag Zuko back to the living. A cranky waterbender, a pissed-off pony-tailed spirit and a very vivid spirit world.
The Fifth Coloumn @chromeknickers (post-series Assassin AU) Katara is imprisoned by a secret society. A mysterious assassin infiltrates them. This has some dark / mature themes,  but a fantastic story overall.
Once Around the Sun  by Eleventy7 An amazing post-series eventual Zutara story, focused on Katara, Zuko and Azula. It’s a journey, both inside and out and it is amazing. Soul-searching, bonding, changing, adventure.
Mending Wounds by  FictionIsSocialInquiry  S2 AU, post-Chase. While lost in the Foggy Swamp, searching for her brother and her Avatar, Katara is haunted by visions of the Fire Nation's disgraced prince. Visions of peace after war, visions of honour and secrets...Katara has some interesting visions in the Swamp)
Stalking Zuko by @emletish-fish  Oldie but goldie, Zuko joins the Gaang, Katara takes up stalking. Sweet, funny Zutara fic from the Western Air Temple days.
I Don’t Speak Meow Language by @botherkupo   (Boogum)  Ba Sing Se-era, Zuko is a tea-server, Katara is a feisty cat AU - sweet, sweet silliness (I adore any fic where anyone from the Gaang gets to see up-close and personal, the sweet, awkward mess tea-shop Zuko is and you can’t get much closer than being a cat)
The Little Adentures of Katara (and One Giant Prince) by @botherkupo (WIP) An early S3 AU where a tiny Katara is stuck with her big princely saviour. I love this one because it gives a rare glimpse into Zuko’s palace life through Katara’s eyes, at the time when Zuko returns to the Fire Nation.
so let us melt, and make no noise by littleloststar - a very moody AU, where Zuko is haunting for the last waterbender and Katara lives alone in an ice-palace. It feels like a Nordic myth with swirling snow and lots of darkness and ice.
Fire Nation Royal Family
Lovable by LadyCharity (Zutara) A very emotional post-series Zuko & Azula story, which is also a Zutara story.
Azula’s Search by crowleyhouseplant (series) (slight TyZula)This story is just my absolute favourite post-series Azula-centric story, featuring an epic Azula/Mai/TyLee/Suki roadtrip to look for clues about Ursa. There is a little background Maiko and TyZula, but it is mostly about Azula’s road to redemption.
The Suns Inside of Us by @crowleyhouseplant   - (WIP) this is a sequel to Azula’s Search as she keeps searching her lost firebending, and perhaps her redemption, as she’s trying to figure out her place in the post-series reality, her relationship with Zuko, Mai, Ty Lee and others, but above all, herself.
Call “Uncle” by @jaggedcliffs  - (one-shot, Gen) The Gaang slowly adopts Iroh as everyone’s uncle.
Decorum by @sometimeswarrior (Gen) writes many good Iroh-centric one-shots. This one with Iroh & Ozai after the agni kai is my favourite.
stained in tea-colours by sangi - (one-shot, Gen) After the War, Azula eventually comes to live in Ba Sing Se with Iroh. A soulful story about Iroh, Azula and Zuko, and all the wounds they carry and the ties that bind them. It is a fantastic take on post-series Azula and her relationship with Iroh. Sangi has many great one-shots on the Fire Nation Royals, and they are really worth checking out.
There All the Honour Lies by @shastafirecracker (Gen) Iroh & Zuko oneshot, about the immediate aftermath of the Agni kai
our curse by @gaynasas and the last dragon by @runrundoyourstuff (Gen) OK, these are very dark, but very good takes on what would have happened if Ozai made a different decision about Iroh’s fate post S-2. Check out the tags before reading!
Choices by @catie-does-things  (Gen) Very interesting one-shot looking at Aang’s decision to spare Ozai’s life from the perspective of Zuko who now has to decide his fate.
Bloodline by monpetitpois (Gen) Multi-generation history of the Fire Nation Royals starting with Sozin to Izumi. It’s well written and in character and has a lovely forcus on Zuko’s and Izumi’s relationship. Character-focused, canon-compliant.
Zuko-centric (various ships & friendships)
the beginning of a new and brighter birth by  @captainkirkk (aloneintherain) (Gen) My favourite take on post-series Zuko becoming Fire-Lord. None of that comic nonsense. Very solid political plot, lots of heart and really it’s just the story that had to be told.
The Problem With Zuko by avocadolove (Gen) AU where Lu Ten didn’t die, and Zuko is just an overlooked lesser prince. He is put in charge of imprisoning Aang and his companions.
The Revenant by @achievement-bender (Gen) Zuko helps the Gaang, but in a very different way. A sad, but so good, Ghost!Zuko story. (check out the rest of their stuff - I also love Catch and Release, which is an AU where the Blue Spirit gets captured by Zhao
ribs by @gaynasas (oneshot) (Gen) There are simply not enough Zuko & Aang friendship stories in the world. This one is a great one about bonding over firebending and learning about Zuko’s scars. All of her stuff is very well written and worth reading.
a night at the theatre by @captainkirkk  (one-shot) (Gen) Fire Lord Zuko meets the Ember Island Players
A Candle to a Dragon by @achievement-bender  (WIP) (Gen) Non-bender Zuko AU. Wow, what a ride with a bookish, sweet, heartbroken Zuko, training with Piandao as he’s trying to figure out who he is without bending in a family of prodigies.
Heartlines by @kuchee  (WIP) Zuko loves Katara. Katara loves Zuko. Aang loves Katara. Katara loves Aang. Aang loves Zuko. Zuko loves Aang. It doesn’t have to be a love triangle if everyone has two hands? A lovely Zuko/Katara/Aang OT3 with lots of pining set during a post-series Earth Kingdom natural disaster.
Antebellum by @veliseraptor (Gen) A Zuko & Aang friendship oneshot (did I mention I have a thing for these? Set during the Western Air Temple days.
Towards the Sun by @muffinlance - (Gen, WIP) Zuko is Fire Lord AU  - Zuko got imprisoned on the Day of the Black Sun, so never joined the Gaang. After Ozai’s defeat, he becomes Fire Lord by default. So when the Gaang and Iroh show up to hammer out peace, things get complicated. (WIP)
Home We’ll Go by themanofmanyhats - (Gen) This is a post-war take on Zuko’s path crossing again with Lee and his family from Zuko Alone. What can I say? Post-war Earth Kingdom reveals are my jam.
there is fire in me by @suzukiblu  - (Gen) - Firebender!Jet with Ba Sing Se era Zuko and Sokka makes for a very unlikely, but great bonding story
Modern AUs
Pulse by @isnt_it_pretty  I rarely read modern AUs, but this one caught my eye. It is set in a modern era, but the characters feel really on spot. Warning! it’s super angsty
Welcome Heat by @cowlicklesschick  - (Zutara, Sukka) firefighter Zuko and pre-med Katara, with a good side helping of sweet Sokka & Suki romance. It’s fluffy with just the right amount angst, and a reimagined modern world where all the characters fit right in.

652-654: "The Last - and Bloodiest - Block! Block D Battle Begins!", "A Decisive Battle! Giolla vs the Straw Hats!" and "Beautiful Sword! Cavendish of the White Horse!"
Tumblr media
“Complication?”
YOU ARE A CELESTIAL DRAGON!!
Or is he...?
Shins of Steel
Tumblr media
Usually leave the huge reveals to the end but I can’t wait to talk about this major plot point, since it’s knocked a dent into my immovable “All Celestial Dragons Are Wet Lettuces” viewpoint. It’s like I smugly posted a “Change My Mind” meme and Doflamingo cracked his knuckles and proved me wrong.
Or did he?
After opening with Rebecca and Cavendish in the Colosseum (more on that later), the story veered back to Law, Doflamingo and Fujitora. I thought, “This is nice. Haven’t seen Law in a while. Let’s see what the rascal is up to.”
He was pretty much where Oda had left him: running like hell from a chuckling Doflamingo. And he was still reeling from Doflamingo’s deception.
“I have no interest in your past!” Law proclaimed. Which was totally unfair because I was definitely interested.  “The only people who can use the World Government to deceive us are Celestial Dragons!”
“So what?” Doflamingo answered.
At this point I figured Doflamingo somehow had them in his pocket. That Doflamingo was so wealthy and well-connected he could even manipulate them.
There was a flurry of attacks. Doflamingo pulled a Sasuke vs Orochimaru in the chuunin exams: wired up Law and pinned him to a tree. He was like, “You can’t buy any more time, Law.”
“You said it’s complicated before,” Law said, (buying time). What do you mean?”
But Doflamingo is not so easily led into talking.
“If you wanna chat, hand over Caesar and his heart first.”
“Caesar... no, those SMILEs are that important to you? I guess they are,” Law laughed. “Without the SMILEs, Kaidou’s gonna kill you and it’s all over for you.”
A different sort of attempt at buying time, as Law’s shit-talking made Doflamingo lose his temper and attack. Law shambled his way out of the literal bind but Doflamingo was too quick. It was lucky Fujitora was there because Doflamingo was ready to kill and loot for Caesar’s heart.
Boom went the gravity. Law was pinned to the ground beneath crushing force. (I think I’ve said this before but Fujitora’s power is... it’s just great.)
Doflamingo was like, “Wtf, Fujitora? I almost had him, you party pooper!”
Fujitora, who has played this entire situation suspiciously by-the-book, just said, “Gotta stop you right there, Heavenly Yaksha. I am here to arrest, not execute. Soz.”
Doflamingo had a quiet seethe to himself, then said, “FINE! But I need Caesar’s heart back.” Once Doflamingo stringed the heart into his hands, he cheered up a bit. The odds seemingly in his favour, he was more willing to talk. “By the way, you seem quite curious about that complication I mentioned. You wanna hear about it?”
At this point, I was thinking, “Law, if you do not say yes, I will start flipping tables.”
Luckily, Doflamingo was now in a talkative mood.
“A long time ago - it goes back eight-hundred years, Law - twenty kings from twenty countries came together at the centre of the world and formed one giant organisation. The World Government. The kings who created it decided to move to Mariejois and live there with their families. The Nefertari family of Alabasta refused, so there were nineteen, to be exact. The descendants of those creators who still live there and reign over the world are known as the Celestial Dragons. It means, however, that those nineteen countries lost their royal families eight-hundred years ago. In those countries, they elected new kings out of necessity and new royal families arose. In the case of my country, Dressrosa, the new royalty was the Riku Family. And the old family who moved to Mariejois as the creators of the world was the Donquixote family.”
THE DONQUIXOTE FAMILY.
Tumblr media
“But, but, but....” I thought. “Weren’t all Celestial Dragons useless, dangerous spoiled brats like St Charloss and What’s-His-Face who washed up on Fishman Island?” Doflamingo is hyper-competent. How could this be?? Muh prejudices!
I guess that explained the Heavenly Yaksha nickname. Heavenly is similar to celestial, right? I suppose Vergo’s warning to Law, re. lack of knowledge on Doflamingo’s past also makes sense now. Law was technically pitting himself against a Celestial Dragon who can pull World Government-level strings.
Not only that, but it seems the situation really is complicated.
Because Doflamingo had a bit more to say.
“So you’re called a Celestial Dragon, Doflamingo!” Law raged.
“I was. But not anymore. What is bloodline? What is destiny? I don’t think there are many people who have lived such a chequered life as mine. I wish I could tell the story of my life before I met you, over drinks. But I don’t have time for that. I’ve got to do something about the Strawhats in Dressrosa. I know there are quite a few people who underestimated them and got hurt.”
THANK YOU, ODA!
The plot gods have answered my plea. But these answers have raised only more questions.
1. Doflamingo used to be a Celestial Dragon. Not anymore. What happened? Did he abandon the rank willingly or was it taken from him? The whole “What is bloodline? What is destiny?” stuff is highly suspicious. Makes me think Doflamingo is not a fan of the Celestial Dragons.
2. The Riku Family. They were the ones who took over. They were elected fair and square. Everything seemed to be fine. Until Doflamingo came back to claim the territory his family abandoned eight-hundred years ago. Why return to Dressrosa? The answer to this question is probably tied up with point one.
3. The Nefertari were Originals. Even back then, the future Celestials must have been total moonfruits because the Nefertaris were like, “Ehhhh, nah, you guys go and have a good time on your island.” Imagine being stuck with those losers for eight-hundred years? No thanks.
4. Not underestimating the Strawhats. Doflamingo is smart. He has seen these new whippersnapper pirates topple too many Big Names and institutions to ignore the threat they pose to his territory. I actually cheered when he said this. A villain who can lay aside ego for the sake of the task at hand. I suppose Doflamingo does have the benefit of hindsight. Crocodile never had that luxury.
After that, there was a funny scene with Caesar and a heart-swap (Law still has his heart! Those heat-seeking Karma missiles are locked on Caesar. (LOCK ONNNNN!)) Fujitora also heard a KABOOM of thunder from the direction of the sea, even though the weather was perfectly calm. Law knew that would be Nami. The Strawhats were heading his way.
This was not a good thing.
Amid the chaos, Law made a desperate bid for freedom. Doflamingo pursued. He tried to lure him away but unfortunately, Doflamingo is smart.
Which leads us nicely to...
Debatable, But Okay...
Tumblr media
(Side note: I loved how Toei segued seamlessly from Doflamingo’s sinister villain reveal laughter to Brook’s cheerful deceit laughter in 653. Did me a big lol there.)
And at first it seemed like Brook had found a new pal on Sunny. Not only that... he had betrayed the Strawhats? Surely not?
Had Soul King placed his art above his solid gold friendships with Nami and Chopper? Why was he hanging with Giolla? This was an outrage!
Giolla wanted to surprise Law (and gain Donquixote points) by picking up Caesar in Sunny instead of the Strawhats. Oh, what an excellent day it had turned out to be. Her latest art transformation depicted the tragedy of Dressrosa so perfectly! And it would only take ten more minutes for Nami, Chopper and Momonosuke to become part of her art and suffocate.
Like a total rookie, she babbled her plan to Brook, who smiled (if he could smile) and nodded and played the perfect gentleman. In the background, the others wailed and lamented Brook deserting them for art.
“May I play a song to celebrate?” he asked.
“Of course!”
“Then could you turn my violin and bow back to normal, please?”
Oh, Brook, you absolute legend. As soon as Giolla made that fatal error, Brook said, “You see this violin? There’s a cane sword inside. I already cut you.”
Suddenly, Brook was the hero! (Brook is always the hero.) Imagine doubting him, Nami and Chopper, you silly sausages!
There was a bit I didn’t like much that followed when they bickered over who would cuff Giolla. Nami demanded that Brook or Chopper did it, which was ridiculous because they are Devil Fruit eaters. If they touched those cuffs, their strength would sap and Giolla could overpower them. Nami, you should have done it. Doesn’t matter if you think you’re a coward or you view yourself as weak, you should have taken one for the team there. Not cool.
They spent so much time bickering, Giolla woke up and they missed the opportunity to restrain her. They were forced into fighting. Which was actually kind of good, in the end. Nami, Chopper and Brook used their heads to outsmart Giolla’s Giant Picasso Form and fire a Gaon Cannon bolt. Then Momonosuke shanked her from behind when she was down. Nami finished her off with a thunderbolt.
Teamwork, amirite?
Unfortunately, Fujitora heard the thunderbolt and told Doflamingo. So when they sailed round to Green Bit to collect Law and Caesar, Chopper saw the horrendous sight of Doflamingo approaching at speed through his binoculars.
I hope he recovers soon.
Who Says Zoro Can’t Compromise?
Tumblr media
Once again, the Strawhats have split up. Usopp and Robin have reunited with Franky at the King Riku Army HQ beneath Flower Field. Zoro originally left with Wicka to check in on Sunny and rescue the others from Giolla, but met Sanji and Foxfire on the way.
Wick was like, “Who dat?”
In keeping with the Legendary Heroes names, Zoro introduced Sanji and Foxfire as Spiral-Brows-land and Topknot-Land (lmao)
Zoro updated Sanji on the dire situation on Sunny. Of course, Sanji was intent on rescuing Nami and the others, so Zoro stayed behind with Foxfire to find Luffy.
Then Violet appeared like a ninja from the shadows to tell him Giolla had hijacked Sunny. How did she know this?
Turns out she has a Very Useful Power.
Clairvoyance. It usually means seeing into the future, but it can also mean gaining information about a person, including their location, through extra-sensory perception. Nice. For Violet, this means she can see things within a 4000km radius, top-down, as a bird would. She is a walking surveillance satellite and can see everything going on in Dressrosa. She guided Sanji to Sunny and updated him on what was going on in Sunny.
Like I said, a Very Useful Power.
But, since it is a Very Useful Power, the Donquixote Crew are not pleased that she’s betrayed them. Back at the palace, a new character called Gladius is Very Upset. Since he despises and wishes death upon people who cannot follow plans and are not punctual, I’m guessing Violet has used up her two strikes already and is dead to this hilarious weirdo.
(Why does his hair explode?)
Violet eventually picked up Sunny and informed Sanji the dreadfully bad news that Sunny had been struck by lightning. She was puzzled when Sanji did not react as expected. Instead, he boosted with fury to the ship, where, I expect, he was surprised to find Doflamingo doing the exact same thing.
“Watch this, Law!” Doflamingo laughed. “I will viciously slay your allies right before your eyes!”
Doflamingo sure knows how to turn the thumb screws and punish people, doesn’t he?
But Sanji was like, “NOT TODAY, SATAN!”
He smashed shins with Doflamingo.
And I cheered.
Sanji, you have just gained all your cool points back. I forgive you for being distracted by Violet.
(Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that Bartolomeo recognised Zoro and totally splooshed on sight.)
Rebecca and Cavendish: You Beautiful Legends!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now Doflamingo has spilled some of the beans on his past, his treatment of Rebecca is odd. If he wanted to get rid of the Riku Family, he could have easily killed her years ago. It’s almost like he wants to drag their memory and reputation thoroughly through the mud. If it’s a propaganda campaign, it makes sense. Keep the people blind to what’s been going on by dangling the scapegoat in front of them. But this is a cruel and unusual punishment. It’s almost like he actually *hates* the Riku family. Or am I reading way too much into this?
In the first scene of 652, Rebecca walked out into the ring. The way Oda had the crowd behave - reduced to shadows, red-eyed, shrieking, inhumane shapes - might be a dig at the sorts of people who love blood sports. Animals and humans risking their lives to entertain uncaring humans and prop up gambling industries.
The insults they hurled at Rebecca were harsh. “Drop dead, Rebecca!” “Foul blooded!” “Today’s your execution day!” “The shame of Dressrosa!” And the worst one, for some reason, “Set her on fire! That’ll make her pyro grandfather happy.”
Ooft.
Well, it was pretty disgusting, and I wasn’t the only one who thought so.
Enter Cavendish on his Farul, his white horse.
Ohhhhhh, he was not happy. Not happy at all. He heaped abuse on the crowd and called out their rank hypocrisy.
“ENOUGH! I don’t care why you hate her so much but she’s a young woman who stands in the ring putting her life on the line. You guys are not risking yoru lives so you have no right to jeer at her. If you really want to kill her, take a weapon and come down to the ring yourself! The voices of people who have no guts are nothing but irritating noise! I have my reasons for entering this competition, but even so, I cannot stomach it. The lives and deaths of warriors are not a show!”
Tumblr media
Well, Cabbage just earned himself some major cool points there. I was like, “YOU TELL ‘EM, CABBAGE! NO MERCY!”
Even Luffy agreed. “Oh, Cabbage spoke up and said the right thing. I’m impressed!”
Well.. sort of.
“Still don’t like him, though.” (Lmao, Luffy.)
Cavendish’s impromptu speech had an interesting effect on the crowd. They still hate Rebecca but instead of focusing their abuse on her, they decided they would use all that energy to support Cavendish, instead.
It’s a win-win situation. Rebecca can kick-ass in peace and Cavendish, well, since the crowd started chanting his name, he had a tear-filled, “YOU LOVE ME! YOU REALLY LOVE ME!” moment.
He’s already contemplating his media strategy.
Classic Cavendish.

“Imagine being born to do something. And I mean it - born. You came outta your mom or whatever, and the universe pointed at you and said ‘Yeah… That guy’s gotta do this, be this. This guy? He’s my center!’ To be more specific, imagine if one of the first things you were ever fucking told was that you’re the main character. You got diagnosed with Protagonist Syndrome. The whole plot of a whole fictional world is on your shoulders, you’re its cosmic plaything, and that’s your whole life!”
“Until one day, it’s not. You wake up in a different fictional world - a multiversal melting pot of fiction from all possible corners. Whatever superpowers you might’ve had? Gone. Trusty weapons? Confiscated. Plot armor? Never coming back. You're not the hero anymore, you know it… and you can’t think about admitting it.”
PROMPT: Write an 800+ word post reflecting on your time on the island and the struggles/revelations you’ve had during your time here.
“I’m Travis Touchdown, and when I first landed in Hive City… I was a fuckin’ mess. I mean, I was always a fuckin’ mess. And if you’ve played my games, looked up my backstory, or followed this blog for any amount of time, you know that. ‘Nerd buys a lightsaber off the dark web, becomes a gladiatorial assassin for the promise of sex, revenge, and the chance to be the hero he’s supposed to be. Everything goes to shit.’ I don’t gotta delve into the ‘whys,’ there. Don’t need to do a full-blown recap. That’s not what we’re here for.”
“Anywho… the whole ‘multi-fandom roleplay’ thing should’ve been freeing from the start, to be honest. And in a way, to me, it was. All of a sudden, at the lowest point of my life, after my dumb ass had ruined everything back home - not only for me, but for everyone around me - I had a fresh start. A whole new city, a whole new cast of interesting characters… A chance to rebuild myself. To finally make something of myself, and finally leave a decent impact. To be a real cool-guy action hero, at last; Just like all those movie and anime icons who’d influenced me as a kid.”
“This nerd-turned-assassin was ready… to make the same goddamn mistakes he’d always had, suffer the same losses, yada yada yada, and then some. I mean, ‘definition of insanity,’ right?”
“Most of the time, for the longest time, I was nothing but a punching bag to Hive City (or Radiale Island, when the former came to its apocalyptic end). A punching bag, literally, figuratively, either/or. At least, that’s what it felt like. I’d lose fights like I never had before, face things outside my fucking comprehension. Friends I’d make would get hurt, be taken away, or go on power-crazed, citywide rampages. And no matter how much of my power I’d regained at the time… I’d so rarely be able to do shit about it. To avenge them, keep them, stop them, save them. Hell, sometimes, I’d die trying! I just wasn’t strong enough.”
“I’d say or do something stupid, and everyone would be on my ass in a snap - turning me into a joke. A perverted comic relief character, stuck in his pitiful delusions, trying too hard to be something he’s not. And don’t get me wrong, I deserved the rep. But even when I tried to get better, so many people couldn’t be bothered to show me how. And why should they have bothered? I just wasn’t good enough.”
“I was stuck. Stuck in my canon ways, because those were the only ways I’d ever known.”
“... At first. But remember those friends I mentioned? Yeah, that’s right; We’re getting into ‘power of bonds’ talk, here! They wound up being just the thing I needed. They wound up being what finally broke me, in the best term of the word.”
“Marceline, the Vampire Queen: Taught me that it was okay to open up, to stop bottling up. That I wasn’t a pussy or a failure if I initiated a hug, or let out some tears... She and her wife, Peridot, they got me to goof off, stop taking myself so seriously, and do things that those iconic action heroes would never even dream of. Reminded me that, as fictional as I was? I was also human, and needed to let myself be one. Finally, they — along with a bunch of other friends — more than I’d ever thought I’d have — like, more than 5 close friends—!”
“... Ahem. They also helped me start to realize that, for all my flaws and fuck-ups… maybe I was deserving of love and affection.”
“And that, you readers and writers out there, is where we segue into Rosa Cervantes.”
“Holy shit, where do I even begin with Rosa motherfucking Cervantes? I could shout out 800+ words on her alone, in my sleep! But this essay or whatever, it’s not about her. So I’ll stick to the basics. This beautiful half-human, half-dragon/shark hybrid… She might not be a protagonist, or have any sense of the 4th wall. But Rosa, she somehow still gets me more than anyone I’ve ever met. And when you live in TWO massive crossover settings? You meet a lot of fucking people!”
“If I hadn’t learned my lesson beforehand, well… after the long and (often literally) painful process of getting to really know her, really get her? Rosa hammered it in: If someone who’d made as many (if not more) horrible, stupid, violent mistakes as me… someone who’d been through so much of the same shit and so much more… if someone like her, who was still so willing to keep pushing forward - keep trying to improve the world, her laundry list of vices be damned - could look at someone like me, and eventually say that I was good enough to love like no other?”
“I’d do anything to always prove her right.”
“And I think it’s worked wonders.”
“We’re coming up on the 2-year mark since this blog, and my roleplay life, first began. Like I said, I’ve faced shit unthinkable back in Santa Destroy. I’ve met beings capable of atomizing islands, countries, and worlds. I’ve gotten a glimpse of a life where I was real, in every way (some existential horror, there). I’ve seen the world ended twice - and the second time, it got transformed into a fantasy RPG, and rebuilt as it was before, in the span of a single month.
“I’ve helped people. Really helped people, with or without throwing a single punch! I’ve found love and family, things my original canon would’ve never given me. And I’ve grown. GodDAMN, have I ever grown! It’s amazing!”
“... Still. Sometimes, I can’t help but worry that I’m doing this all wrong. A part of me sees all my deviation from canon, and… fears. Travis Touchdown isn’t meant to be genuinely likable, cool, or heroic, after all. And at the end of the day, what’s the point of all this? How many lives does my story change, as is? Am I being what I was born to be?”
“What would Sylvia say?”
“... Not like I pay any of that much thought. I’m not the Travis Touchdown of No More Heroes fame. I’m the Travis Touchdown of Isola Radiale! I’m not the hero I’m supposed to be. I’m the hero that I want to be! I’ve made my mark! And no matter what, my story isn’t ending anytime soon!”

"I’m Travis Touchdown! Thanks for reading, and here’s to the future!”
“...”

“P.S., just so we’re fucking clear, I’ve made a lot more than 5 friends. I was just talking about people who could’ve made it into this essay, but didn’t, because none of us wanna be here all day! Okay? Okay! Now, we can end this drabble.”
