I’m surprised Dain didn’t see her rendezvous with Xaden since they touched and he can see memories
I wonder if the decrease in the number of dragons willing to bond speaks to the fact that the dragons’ don’t align with humans like before
Omggggg I hope Violet gets the black one! If dragons bond with humans like them, it would make sense because she’s so smart
Omg was the one and only rider of the black dragon Brennan?! The last time he was seen was five years ago which is when Brennan “died” and the teacher looked at Violet when he told the story of how the rider died
Oh I got it wrong, Brennan was the rider that was trying to be resurrected
Omg i totally thought it was Jack volunteering to spar Violet. I’m glad it’s Xaden instead hahaha

Theory time: the rider who died trying to save Brennan was his lover. He didn’t do it for fame, he did it because he loved Brennan. The black dragon is going to take Violet as his rider because of the special bond his rider had with her brother. BOOM
I already liked Ridoc before because I resonate with cracking jokes through hard times but now I like him even more and respect him
Violets squad: Sawyer, Pryor, Trina, Tynan, Rhiannon, Ridoc, Violet, Aurelie, and Luca
I hope everyone on this squad stays alive because I like them and their dynamic. I also hope Sawyer gets a dragon this year 😭
As I read the Gauntlet practice scenes, I just picture the final challenge on Wipe Out 🤣

Things I like about this book so far:
Female lead is not annoying. She’s very logical and the writer SHOWS that she’s smart instead of telling
The pacing is great. What a page turner! And the chapters aren’t impossibly long. The book is long but it doesn’t FEEL like it
The romance between the main ship is not cringe! They’re dynamic is hot. He’s hot. She’s hot. It’s all hot
There is more than one badass female characters! It’s giving Throne of Glass series (Aelin, Manon, Lysandra, etc)
Chapter 11
Does that mean someone will be punished for not burning Brennans things? Or does it not matter because Brennan is ALIVE?!
okay, so there’s a lot of representation in this book and I’m loving it (people of color, gay, they/them pronouns, etc)
I mean if Dain REALLY cared about her survival, he’d help more! He would have watched her practices and given her ideas on how to make it - not continue to try to get her to quit!
Violet is a fucking badass. LETSGOOOO
I also love how shameless her mind is when describing how sexy Xaden is lol
Also, I notice that Dain isn’t mentioned AT ALL during this whole thing about her making it through the gauntlet. Shouldnt he have been there also defending her win???? Sus

Ahhh there’s a Feathertail? Maybe THATS the one that she bonds with since they abhore violence and are smart (sounds like Violet)
OR the Feathertail will report back to the black dragon about Violet and he comes during the Threshing 👀

did the Gryphons start attacking after unification because Navarre took something from them and made it harder for the Gryphons to get it back after unifying nations?
Ah! I had a feeling the Gryphons and their riders weren’t so savage as the Navarre historians and leaders want people to believe!
Chapter 35
Okay, we can recover from this Violet! Sure everyone including your two bonded dragons and the love of your life lied to you over and over BUT it must have been for a good reason. I’d give them the benefit of the doubt over Dain and the others any day
Okay Violet really believing Dain would break rules to save people is ludicrous. I like Violet but her thinking on this is stupid
Theory time - Violets mom killed their dad because he was in the know about venin and ready to go public
Another theory - Dain and his dad have known about venin this whole time. Dain’s being used to help continue to cover it up. He’s also been lying to her technically as much as Xaden has been

The real question is if more than just Dain and his dad concocted this plan to kill Xaden
If Xaden dies, there’s a chance Violet would die because of their dragon bond so wouldn’t her mom know that? But would she even care? Or mayb her mom is like The Hound from the crescent city series

🌟 King Magnifico: Hero? Or Villain? 🌟
🌟🌖 There’s no shortage of red flags that come up whenever King Magnifico’s on screen, but in my opinion, none of them have to do with him being a villain. They all have to do with him being a fallen hero, a character that’s taken advantage of at every opportunity.
The Youtube video ‘Wish is Everything Wrong with Disney’ and the most vocal of Magnifico Defenders have already beautifully explained my reasons for thinking this, but after watching certain scenes and listening to ‘This is the Thanks I Get’ (even with its agonizingly horrible lyrics) I just wanted to share my opinions too, as a Magnifico Defender.
The scene between him and Asha is meant to portray him as a villain, but there’s absolutely nothing in this scene that shows him off as evil. Instead there’s quite a bit showing him crying out for help. He confides in Asha about his wish, but is promptly ignored. She quickly jumps into asking for her grandfather’s wish to be granted.
The frustration and disappointment in Magnifico’s voice at that point is crystal clear (hats off to Chris Pine). And keep in mind just mere moments ago, he confided in her about his wish. Something he probably doesn’t share often. He even mentioned her father. There was so much potential for a positive friendship, or maybe even relationship (if the movie had been written without Amaya), but everything’s completely skewered.
‘Wish is Everything Wrong with Disney’ exquisitely gets a couple of points across, this being one of them: the scene between Asha and Magnifico was meant to portray Magnifico as this heartless bastard of a villain. It was also meant to villainize his system. But as we can clearly see, the citizens of Rosas aren’t suffering under his system. It’s a well-known, established system in which the citizens are merrily thriving. Outside of Simon, the only thing the citizens are suffering from is an addiction to wish ceremonies.
And it’s stated, several times, how the wishes are given up willingly. Not just by Magnifico himself, but by Asha. Who happily sang about the very same wish system in ‘Welcome to Rosas’.
It would’ve made a lot more sense if Asha had just moved to Rosas, and was told something incorrect about Magnifico’s wish system, only to find out everything’s a lie, but that’s not how it went. She ends up being like ‘omg Magnifico’s wish system is the greatest’ to villainizing the same exact system in her interview.
In regards to Asha’s interview: Magnifico loses a couple of points for mocking Asha because ‘you’re young, you don’t know anything, really’ and for pretty much telling her ‘haha, I’m not granting your grandfather’s wish, sorry, loser’, but it was at that point he came off as more of an irritated hero than a villain. Nothing about either of those actions has him come off as anything even remotely close to Scar or Frollo. Maybe more of a Gaston?
But not even really him. Magnifico’s just pissed at this point. Disney doesn’t really do death that often but he could’ve easily banished Asha and her family from the kingdom. However he pretty much just said ‘sorry, not today’ and walked off.
Then there’s several scenes in which he speaks with the townspeople. Here lies the fault with how Amaya was handled. In my opinion, she pretty much doesn’t do anything but stand beside him. He speaks to the townspeople about a potential threat, they immediately go into a frenzy about another wish ceremony, and then we see him with his ‘OMG I’m so done’ look. Perfect opportunity for her to step in and take the baton.
Amaya says absolutely nothing to comfort him during these critical scenes either. We get the ‘you’re such a handsome king’ and the hand kiss scene but there’s nothing deeper than that. Nothing that says ‘I love you, my dear Magnifico’. It’s about as surface level as the citizens of Rosas worshipping him because he can grant their wishes.
Then there’s ‘This is the Thanks I Get’. Amaya’s absent throughout the entire song. She could have intervened at any point to comfort him. He was heading downstairs with the Evil Book. She could’ve have found him and said something along the lines of ‘oh no, please don’t do that, my love, we can work this out’ or ‘it’s okay, my love, Asha doesn’t mean any harm, she just loves her family’. Or maybe something like ‘it’s okay, my love, the star doesn’t mean any harm’. She could’ve been the very person that changed the course of the movie.
You know, the power of true love and all that.
We’ve seen her calm him down before. It worked. He was receptive towards her. He continued being receptive towards her. Even as he surrendered to the Book’s influence!
Come to think of it, Simon’s the only thing that indicates Magnifico’s any bit of a villain. Not even The Book points to him being a villain because of course he was kinda possessed by it. He was terrified by a potential threat against their kingdom, due to his past, and went into Panic Mode. Unable to find any answers on how to deal with said threat in his books, he turned to the worst option available: The Book. He even said he didn’t want to be ‘tethered’ to The Book, but ‘desperate times call for desperate measures’.
Without anyone around to convince him to put the book down.
Not Amaya, not Asha, not Valentino, Simon, a royal guard, the ghost of Asha’s father-no one. Magnifico was all alone.
It kinda seems like he was alone the entire time. 🌖🌟

Omg yes the thing you said about minho being in tune with your thoughts!! It's been awhile since I read the books but he does strike me as so deeply intuitive, like he's quiet and patient with you but he lowkey knows what's going through your head the majority of the time and you can't hide anything from him (in a hot way). He was my book crush when I was like 10 and then again when I reread a couple years later and then I sort of forgot about him for a bit but I re-watched the movies over the summer and was like "...yup. I've had taste since day one" because he is THAT guy ! The scene in the first movie where he and newt come up behind thomas during a confrontation with gally is exquisite. None of my other friends liked him that much so it's so validating to see that you and the girlies get it !!

Yep, it seems to be, unfortunately, part and parcel to posting things on the internet.

Yes. I was very shy about it at first. I think I’ve relaxed but it’s still not a major aspect of my fics. (Just not my style.)
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I don’t. I’ll never say never but the closest I’ve ever come is “The Other Side” which is heavily influenced by the TV show “Fringe.”
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I’ve had fics posted on other sites without my permission, but as far as I’m aware, nobody has ever taken credit for my work.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
People have started but never finished. It’s one reason I have stopped granting permission for translations.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Haha yes, unfortunately my cowriter and I live too far away from each other that we couldn’t make it work. It’s been years but we still talk about trying to figure out how to finish it. (fingers crossed)
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I spend most of my free time writing Dramione so I suppose that’s the answer. But I love so many ships, even outside of the HP fandom.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Yeah, I refuse to admit that will happen. Unless you count “Various and Sundry” because-by its nature- it has no beginning and no end.
I16. What are your writing strengths?
When I get going I am very plugged in. I occasionally wake up and scribble a thought down so I don’t lose it.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Action scenes. And I stupidly wrote a huge fic that concludes in a…battle. If any of you wonder what I’ve been doing for years, it’s been figuring out my own brain.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I’m not a fan. Also not a fan of writing out an accent.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Bones. But I was never brave enough to post any of those fics.

“An Unexpected Malfoy” It’s my baby and probably always will be.

hey!
i have been meaning to answer this for a day or two, but i've been sick, so i was kind of out of it (once again), haha. sorry.
here are five (more) things that make me happy, not necessarily in a preference order:
being able to go to the supermarket- although it can be somewhat of a struggle mentally and overwhelming sometimes- and buy ingredients to cook a meal (bonus points if i am cooking for someone else- i am not the best, but i am trying, haha. i really like having someone close to me there to taste the food or the dessert, though, not to see their reaction but to know that they are fed and- if we are both lucky, haha- happy they ate whatever they ate). i recognise it is, unfortunately, a huge privilenge to have nowadays and i cherish it.
exquisite cinematography in films or shows. i am nowhere near an expert in the field, but, in most cases, i truly adore the landscapes, the close-ups, everything, even the smallest of details in the background- anne with an e and young royals are a perfect, in my humble opinion, example of what i am trying to say here. especially the, if i am correct, symbolism behind... ah. it makes me extremely happy.
the glint in someone's eyes when you compliment them. i, unfortunately, haven't done that in quite a while, ever since i moved to college i believe, because my social skills have been very limited for the past year and a half (new, bigger city, people i don't know and don't feel comfotable around and all that jazz), haha. but i get so happy when people get happy being complimented- of course, in a reasonable and kind manner and with measure and deep consideration beforehand, because we do not support creepy behaviour in this blog, no, no. a great example i can think of is my- huge, embarrassing- crush back in high school and the way her eyes lit up when i told her her knitted jacket looked like it was made for her, because it matched her personality somehow, "if she allowed me to say so".
reenacting scenes from books or movies and shows when i am alone. it's refreshing. it's happiness in a small room, four walls and me. it's nectar for the soul. what else is there to say?
the smell of grass. although as a kid i used to get (??) allergies (??) from smelling the grass and the flowers too much in the pre-school playground during spring time, i believe, i still feel happy to know that it's rained by just nostagically smelling the grass, in spite of a runny nose, tears and maybe some follow-up sinusitis (yes, i am kind of stupid, haha, what's new?).

you know what; we both know i rumbled on and on again and this turned out to be longer than intended. i shall not hide anymore. lol.

Hey, I’m Rhett.
As a member of the whump community, I think it’s time I put up an introductory post and put myself out there in celebration of reaching a 100 followers (yay!)
(Ignore my horrible editing pls.)
I go by they/them pronouns. I write fiction outside of whump too (my newbie writer acc - @kalki-preta), but whump writing is something I do without any plotting. Inspiration comes and I will type haha. I love all sorts of whump, really. There’s no special preference (but humiliation is the best, no contest.) I do have ones squick and that’s female whumpees. You can follow me even if you write them, though. It’s not difficult for me to check before I read anything because it’s only one squick.

tokyo revengers idol au hcs part 3 that no one asked for AGAIN
here’s part 1 and part 2 to get a better understanding.
this is what the members would be doing alongside their idol promotions+ what they would post on social media
toman
tbh these guys are all just so damn funny on their own that they would constantly be invited to comedy variety shows. maybe perhaps doing something similar to seventeen or wanna one where they even have their own variety show on youtube (ie. seventeen’s-going seventeen series or wanna one’s show on mnet)
mikey-he would post basic food pics like of his parfaits or taiyaki but also it’s rare because he’d constantly forget his password. however on important days he’ll post long emotional and sentimental posts that hit you in your feels thanking his members and fans always. he also has a youtube channel posting random funny vlogs.
draken- he has his own personal soundcloud to upload solo mixtapes/songs feat diff members. posts photos of his bikes and different tattoos he would be getting. responds with 1-2 words to fans during fansigns or ig comments but like mikey, once in a while, will also write heartfelt posts thanking everyone.
baji- his ig feed is filled with animals + dance practice vids. also has his own soundcloud too. trolls his members by commenting on their stuff. “delete this u ugly mf no one wants to see this”.
takemichi- very chatty, (sometimes too chatty where he’ll end up accidentally spoiling their next album info) and interactive on social media to his fans. tries his best to respond to most comments or ama ig stories questions. posts a lot of selfies and photos of his members. king of fan service.
chifuyu- beautiful photos of the sky a lot on his ig (in canon he wanted to be a pilot :,) ) along with cute soft selfies. (which baji and kazutora troll and comment being like “damn....u ugly AF!” “lmao stop pretending to act cute u loser”
kazutora- his ig is filled with pure chaos. just pics of him catching his members slipping (sleeping photos where they’re drooling or have their eyes slightly open or making ugly faces behind the scenes). also has photos of cursed memes and memes made by fans. he’s a literal enigma.
mitsuya- very wholesome ig photos- lots of photos of his family, group photos, sometimes cool artsy edited selfies. occasional photoshoot photos.
hakkai- ig is filled lots of #ootd photos and occasional photos from his modeling or acting gigs (he’s the visual, duh!) gets a lot of sponsorships from big brands.
pah-chin: has a joint youtube channel with peyan. they do silly challenges but will sometimes post dance videos (feat. baji) since they’re the main/lead dancers. fans love him because of his “matter-of-fact” responses that are funny without even trying. (example- fan comment: omg i love u guys soooo much u guys are the best in the whole world!!!<333 toman OUTSOLD!.
pah-chin: idk about best in the world but we’ll just take “the best in our neighborhood” for now i guess. thanks.”)
peyan: joint youtube channel with pah-chin. at fan signs mikey has to warn him to chill out cuz peyan will accidentally yell and scare fans without meaning to, but he’s just really excited to meet his fans is all ^_^
angry: posts a lot of wholesome photos like mitsuya (selfies with smiley) and writes a lot of motivational sweet captions cheering fans up and reminding them to always be happy :,)
smiley: joint youtube account with angry. smiley does a lot of prank videos and angrys just usually in the back like 🧍♂️... he also does tiktok- he would be doing all the dances, memes, and trends.
inui: ok hear me out, i mentioned before inui has similar vibes as cha eunwoo so i’d figure his ig would give the same vibe as his (iykyk). since he’s the other visual he would be getting a TON of acting and modeling gigs. idk why but i feel like inui would be a great actor (his facial expressions during tenjiku arc, the range!). actor of the year. gets a lot of skincare commercial deals too.
black dragons
shinichiro- photos of bikes, cars, and photos where hes pretending to do a cool pose but his members (+mikey) would troll and comment “LAME!!!!!” “why tf do u look like that?” “hey leader, it’s not too late to delete this now bestie :)” does fun ig lives. on variety shows as a joke his members tease him there as well. really great at fan-service and pulls the whole “pretend boyfriend” scenario with fans (the delusional fans are gonna act up if he keeps this up...).
taiju- (if shinichiro did not exist in this au OR if you wanted both in the group) photos of him at the gym, photoshoot photos.
inui- similar to if he was in toman, his ig would just be a lot of cool and cute photos of him from behind the scenes of dramas or photoshoots. a soft visual king. occasional selfies with koko and bike photos.
kokonoi- has a personal youtube channel but he would be Drowning in sponsorship videos all from high-end designer brands. he’s just casually flexing that PPL in his vlogs. ig feed is a lot of #ootd photos or pics taken with inui. him and inui would be makeup brand ambassadors or faces of brands (ex: like jennie from blackpink represents chanel). in this case kokonoi would be the face of fendi (he wears fendi slides in the manga cover) and inui would be the face of jimmy choo (his heels in the manga cover looked like jimmy choo but i could be wrong.. but u know what i mean)
tenjiku
izana- pretty leader has a very artsy ig feed. extremely photogenic like inui. has photoshoot photos and candid pose photos. acts in dramas time to time (gg second male lead syndrome).
kakucho- posts gym or dance practice videos on his feed but he posts rarely because he’s just too busy or forgets he actually has an ig. loves commenting on takemichi’s posts “haha no wonder ur called baka-michi!” as a joke.
kanji- posts gym photos but it’s rare because he always forgets his password.
ran- the other visual. he would be modeling for high-fashion brands and go on runway shows. also definitely gives off actor vibes (he would be constantly casted in dark action movies hahaha). loves giving fan service.
rindou- in contrast to his brother, rindou when it comes to fan service, he loves trolling fans. also he’s really good at drawing a line between fans (y’know, keeping the delusional ones in check...which means he ‘friend-zones’ them but it’s for their own good tbh idols need to remind people their boundaries). has a youtube channel where he just posts random dance practice vids and occasional vlogs. also comments under his brothers ig posts “you look stupid af in this wtf”. on variety shows people find their brotherly banter hilarious.
mutou- posts gym photos, also really awkward selfies (he doesn’t know what his angle is lmao). another member who also reminds fans of their boundaries and keeps it real. (sanzu always likes his photos though and hypes him up in the comments).
sanzu- shy baby. constantly following mutou around. posts a lot of cute selfies and random pics of shogi stuff (he tags mutou in it of course). during fan signing/autograph sessions they love putting cute headband props on him like this or this.
bonten
because this group’s concept and aesthetic is mysterious, mature, artsy, gloomy, and dark they will take this concept to the grave. (minus a few exceptions) they are invited to variety/talk-shows but never make an appearance because they want to keep the air of mystery around them. (it’s a good marketing technique).
mikey- does not have any social media. he does have a private account to lurk around but no one knows what it is.
kokonoi- has a youtube channel but it’s locked and you have to pay to get into it. posts super short vlogs and teasers. thats it. (the ultimate scam! but their fans love them too much to notice). lots of sponsored #ootd posts on ig.
kakucho- he would be modeling ONLY high fashion brands and high end editorial places. his instagram is just his exquisite and expensive modeling photos whether it be candid backstage photos from shows, candid runway walk pics/vids, pics of diff photoshoots you name it. doesn’t really comment much.
ran- visual. similar to kakucho- modeling ONLY high fashion brands and editorial places. instagram is filled with modeling photos but also some artsy scenery pics he took.
rindou- posts short artsy dancing clips (like modern dances in black&white filter) on ig.
sanzu- since he’s the other visual, he also posts a lot of his modeling/acting photos on instagram. also pretty chatty (he’s the exception) on social media and loves teasing and trolling fans. posts with a lot of random cute emojis on everything. “just ate lunch and now im off to practice hehe 🍜🍇🤟💃🤠🧚♂️💞🦋” no one really knows why he uses random emojis but it’s just endearing lmao.
kanji- no social media at all.

I worked at the Edinburgh Film Festival one summer when I was at uni. If you were part of the behind the scenes team you got an invite to the Opening and Closing parties which the visiting celebs were also invited to. The first one was in a museum in Edinburgh - can’t remember which one but it was an amazing setting - and there wasn’t a separate VIP area. It was basically just sofas in the middle of the room. Natalie’s film was showing so she came to the party. She is exquisitely beautiful. She was blonde at the time and just gorgeous. She was so patient and gracious. People kept going up to her and she would stop and chat to every single person and take a photo. I eventually got the courage to go up to her with two other people. She said how great we all looked (probably politeness but I’ll take it) and posed for a photo. She asked us what we thought of the film (I hadn’t seen it so I let the others talk lol) and seemed genuinely interested. When the other two praised it and said how much they liked it she said “oh well the director’s here” and called the director over from the VIP area to chat to them about it for a few minutes. She honestly could not have been more gracious.
I saw her again about a year or two later on the day I moved to London. I was with the moving company and the van guy stopped in Richmond to buy something, can’t remember what. She was with a guy and getting in to a big car right in front of the van. If I hadn’t been sitting alone in a van with all my possessions in it I would totally have jumped out haha

Draco lay sprawled on the bed, pale skin lit by moonlight that played across his body. Harry’s gaze was drawn to the scars—scars he had traced often in the almost three years they had been together. Scars that made his fingers itch to touch them again.
Voldemort, cloaked, his wand outstretched. James Potter already lay upon the ground, and Lily cradled a small bundle in her arms.
Harry opened his mouth to shout, to scream, to stop this somehow. A hand clamped down tightly over his mouth, arms holding him in place.
“Don’t make me bind you,” Draco murmured. “You can’t stop this, Harry. It’s happening.”
“You can’t change the past, Harry,” Draco said mildly. “Only the future.” - Oh how very true.
Rec Notes: As the summary suggests, Harry and Draco were a couple but the way the way the author has written their familiarity with each other is *chef’s kiss*. They know each other's tones, mannerisms and just everything about the other person so well! The pining and the ego and hesitance is exquisite. They're both stubborn fools! And boy do I love that!
The scene descriptions are really well done. Oh boy, the twists and turns in this story!! There are so many moments when my mind went ‘dun dun dun’.
The perpetrator has the hero's face... I mean if you're not already intrigued by this fic this will surely suck you in. There is a surprise element which I did not see coming, so I won’t spoil it for you either, but once it shows up you’ll go ‘oh!’
My favourite line in this fic would give away too much so here's another one that had a great impact on me - “I know. But if I want my future, I have to play my part in the past,”

All maps will have an intermission that leads to the main hub, which also acts as a progress and rest center for reading Christmas letters. A fantastic idea that generates a unique identity. 4/5
MAP04: Festive Neighbours by Phobus
Following the tradition of MAP02 but this time in a frame. Enemies are far away and in ambush positions, waiting for the perfect moment to attack. With a claustrophobic design and a bit lost at times (the bells are well hidden) is a map that takes relatively a little more than it should. 3/5

The so famous city of the intermissions is finally given its own use in a magnificent slaughter map that will stop us in our tracks. Enormous, large and with an incredible challenge for all players. The ultimate Christmas present goes out with a boom. You're not supposed to win it (it's technically impossible) but it's a fun and crazy way to end this wad. 4/5

We all want to get into the enchanting spirit of the sweet Christmas season as December approaches. Nothing like celebrating the times of peace, love and understanding among all beings as by doing it in the most holy and fantastic way possible: Killing demons. Those infernal sinners are not going to clean themselves and we are here to do it. Thanks to the fantastic criminal minds of the members of the Doomer Boards Community, we have been given a fantastic Christmas installment that has all the necessary requirements to recreate a good Christmas spirit; blood, violence, guns and many, many demons. Ready to celebrate Christmas? Hit it.
A Doomer Boards Christmas Carol is a project created by the famous krew that this time is launched towards the winter celebrations of Christmas, creating a theme focused entirely on the Christmas touch of the game and redesigning textures and skins for almost the entire project, perfectly invoking that Christmas spirit that few can achieve with a game that was practically identified as a form of 3D Satanism (although it was not exactly released at Christmas, it is a Christmas game in my heart) that would launch to the market a re-copied and unique style. That of being gory and disturbing. Well, let's take the core of Doom and now give it a new twist, one that has lots of snow, cookies, warm milk, presents, red socks and some coal for the bad kids. The result? A grandiose 25-map project (half of them small intermissions) that perfectly re-invents the celebratory style into a Christmas mood that successfully recreates the game on, you guessed it, Christmas. Or something like that.
DBP19 is a fascinating project like no other that really manages to reach those standards and deliver white maps full of passion, identity and a lot of fun. Thanks to the new use of textures and the hilarious re-skins, we now have a new paint scheme for the entire game that takes us out of the hellish air and into a cooler and, uh, wholesome kind of hell.
Starting with MAP01 by @Big Ol Billy, the first map actually works as a kind of intermission/hub-styled map that makes us progress the game accompanied by a small Christmas narrative where the different members of the team give us little stories and messages about what awaits us or the story. A little touch that gives it a nice charisma. @Big Ol Billy does practically all the intermissions, as well as a few other independent maps. MAP02 continues the adventure and this time throws us directly into a combat arena that presents us with two important aspects: 1) the visual style and 2) the new mechanic of hunting ''bells'', something like switch-hunting but more simplified. MAP03 is one more intermission made by the same author, and from now on all the maps with odd number are intermissions. MAP04 by @Phobus is a re-interpretation of the first map but with a more painting style and less mercy. Gaspe comes into action with his MAP06 which gives us a great rock fortress in a world of ice full of action and beautiful visuals. MAP08 by @Glenzinho is, as the title says, a violent surprise that shows an excellent Doom-City style. @Phobus returns with MAP10 in an intricate and tight map with dark corners and welcoming demons. MAP12 by @SuperCupcakeTactics and @glenzinho wins the award for most innovative and fun title I've read all year, luckily not all is title but also essence as this is a fascinating map that combines the two styles of mappers under a perfect synergy of emotion and visual sweetness. MAP14 by @Doom_RO is a huge odyssey that makes us look for different bells while we go through different scenarios making our way through rivers of demons, all in an exciting Christmas adventure. Oh yeah. MAP16 by @Scrangus McBrickdad/Jaxxoon R and @glenzinho pits us against a huge map with amazing visuals but a somewhat confusing layout that compensates with a nice touch of detail and variety of scenarios. Thundercunt (hehe) delivers a labyrinthine and different adventure that contains as many goodies as the demons in MAP18. MAP20 by @dmdr is a fascinating ice adventure that takes us on a journey with good flow, fun combat and excellent presentation. @joe-ilya delivers a mysterious and cold mansion in MAP22, full of demons, Masterminds and a few surprises in the basement. Finally, MAP24: Realm of Christmas Time by Big Ol' Billy is an excellent final scene as we face off in a small arena-style map against a variety of enemies and a sort of modified IoS that delivers thrills and excitement. Like the good little kids, we've been. Of course, the final intermission in MAP25 is what we call a total beast that actually works like a credits map but with a twist.
Wow that was a lot of maps! Probably among the biggest (or actually biggest) DBP, quite the gift!
This winter adventure deliberates with solid greece a delivery of 25 maps full of charisma, fun, gifts and everything we need to feel comfortable and accompanied on a lonely Christmas night while the snow crashes against our windows. Not that I can relate to that because where I live it doesn't snow, but at least with this project I have managed to relate the sweet effect of nostalgia with the innocence of yesteryear where we simply wanted to enjoy Doom in its purest form. Well, this is the purest way to enjoy it at Christmas! Or practically any month, after all I'm playing this in the middle of summer. Hehe. Anyway, want some cookies? Come and get them.

With regards to his looks, Xiao Zhan said he is “ordinary”, and only scored himself a 6.
With regards to his age, Xiao Zhan said his mother’s method of urging him to start a family has went from straight-to-the-point to indirect and tactful.
With regards to “famous after one battle”, is it really as straightforward as standing out from the big data and being ahead of everyone else? Xiao Zhan, who is 1.83m, reduced his weight from 70kg to 58kg for his outstanding portrayal of Wei Wuxian – is this really the result of a day’s work? Does anyone remember the hardworking youth, with a caption “Designer from Chongqing”, from the 2015 idol search variety show “X-Fire”? Does anyone remember that in 2016, after debuting as the lead singer for X9, Xiao Zhan admitted that there were instances of zero income, zero entertainment and zero social activities?
No matter whether it was “very beautiful” or it “seemed beautiful”, would it be free of worries?
Xiao Zhan looked down and smiled, slightly bashful, his expression serene, “Sweet worries.”
He actually loves Beijing so much
On 28 Feb 2019, I (a reporter) entered a dressing room in Beijing TV. The narrow and long dressing room had been split in the middle into two narrower sections. Near the corner, after the staff has dispersed, I finally set my eyes on Xiao Zhan, who sat obediently on a chair while styling his hair.
The stylist stood on the right of Xiao Zhan; to the left of Xiao Zhan was a giant suitcase. After we tried to push the suitcase aside, I managed to stand in the gap. In such a tight space, I could only put the phone in front of Xiao Zhan, on top of the opened makeup case, for voice recording. After some more effort from everyone, there was finally space for the phone.
He was covered in a white hairdresser cape, his long legs enveloped by a pair of black pants – his thick black hair was being kept in order, his handsome side profile, relaxed and natural attitude, polite words, and after some close observation, no piercings on his ears.
How did this unguarded Xiao Zhan look like?
There was no need for exquisite words, just simple and pure wonderfulness.
If it remained unimaginable, it would not be too complex to imagine the warm smiles of the good looking youths on the streets of Beijing. All of these people could have been born in Beijing or traveled to Beijing from their hometowns.
“Chongqinger” Xiao Zhan said, “Beijing, in fact, besides my hometown Chongqing, is my longest lived in city. If we use 2020 to calculate, it would have been 5 years. Beijing, is a striving city, and like any other youths, Beijing means dreams and endeavors to us – this is a city of ambition. Hence, as Beijing TV’s Spring Night spokesperson, I feel that this special meaning, I’m very happy and very excited.”
Indeed, during the release conference in the afternoon, when being asked about how he felt spending his “Year of the Rat” Spring Night with Beijing TV, and expressing that by singing, Xiao Zhan, who was nicknamed “The Little Chinese Music Archive”, thought about it seriously and suddenly sang, “I’m beautiful, beautiful, beautiful……”
Haha, this quick wit and humor was almost as cute as “The Chipmunks”.
Spring Night is a big event, and it required absolute secrecy. We secretly asked Xiao Zhan about Beijing TV Spring Night from his personal point of view. Xiao Zhan continued to be witty, “I feel it’ll be exciting, at least I’ll be performing with a… senior that I really like.” When asked who it would be, Xiao Zhan smiled, “Let’s keep it a mystery, and we welcome everyone to watch Beijing TV Spring Night!”
This “Chongqinger”, who still could not confirm if he could return to his hometown for Chinese New Year, would sometimes show his inner thoughts – “If I could go back I definitely would”, but yet his words lingered on Beijing TV Spring Night.
Xiao Zhan, he actually loves Beijing so much.
He actually likes Zhou Xun so much
Who are the actors that Xiao Zhan admires the most? If he were to pick two, it would be Zhou Xun and Tony Leung.
Xiao Zhan said, “I really like Zhou Xun, her views, her experiences, are all mesmerizing to me. She has many performances that give me the urge to rush into the screen to rescue her. Her performances are very vivacious, it feels like you’re beside her experiencing her performances with her, my attention is all on her, she just has great charisma.”
Xiao Zhan emphasized that he liked Zhou Xun all along, and as we stood and studied his side profile, his face, we suddenly remembered a classic scene from “Palace of Desire”, where the young Princess Taiping removed Xue Shao’s mask.
That year, Zhou Xun was 26, Winston Chao was 40, but it did not prevent her from portraying a young girl’s infatuation. This drama was almost 20 years old, and the female audiences at that time would exclaim that Winston Chao was “as warm and gentle as jade, a gentleman who is peerless”. If this seemed familiar, this phrase was also used by many of Xiao Zhan’s fans to describe him.

This is the lyrics from Xiao Zhan’s song “Yu Nian”, which is the ending song for “Joy of Life”. Who knew that time cycles? Who knew that memories crosses paths?
As of now, Xiao Zhan is similar in age to Zhou Xun’s age then. If we could time travel and Xiao Zhan were to act as Xue Shao, could we guess the ending?
And since we are at this point, we could add another statement – “Traffic” / “Celebrity” / “Actor” – what difference do they make in the face of time? If there are no answers, why not listen to Xiao Zhan’s “Yu Nian”.
Time will tell, it is just that we are too impatient – regardless of our need for speed, we still ought to seek the truth.
He actually admires Vincent van Gogh so much
Xiao Zhan, like many of us, went through the tough period of studying overnight for university entry examinations. He became a student of Chongqing Business and Technology University, majoring in Design. However, this did not prevent Xiao Zhan from becoming a “Top 10 Inter-school Singer”, he self mockingly called himself a “literary enthusiast”, but in fact became one of the stars in many girls’ eyes – someone who was good looking, tall, stylish and could sing and take photographs. Immediately after he graduated, he became a designer, but he would still be brought up by his ex-teachers, one of whom recommended him to participate in “X-Fire”.
When reviewing “X-Fire”, you would realize that Xiao Zhan had a round face, an obedient expression and mild temperament – in fact, you would think that he did not pose much of a threat. But as one by one, the youths started getting eliminated, as their teams were getting regrouped, as they were getting more and more difficult tasks, it seemed as though Xiao Zhan was being sculpted on the spot – his face became more chiselled, he started slimming down, his eyes started having the steady gaze of ambition… Talent search variety shows are, in fact, cruel and all the participants were getting re-sculpted and remodeled – whatever that was removed was not the meant to be in the final product.
So what did Xiao Zhan keep in his heart? These were all the passwords to his past – drawing, design and art. Like anyone who learnt design, they all had an artist that they favored, and they were all different. Xiao Zhan’s answer – Vincent van Gogh.
Xiao Zhan said, “I was asked previously – if I could have a conversation with a past personality, who would it be? I would just choose Vincent van Gogh, because I want to listen to what he had experienced then, how he lived then, such that he was able to create such a beautiful world and paintings. Such as “Starry Night” or “Self Portrait”, I feel that he was able to step away from himself, into very amazing angles, and then create them.”
Those who learned design would usually be able to draw quite well, and usually beyond the levels of self taught hobbyists. Hence, these would also become part of his self cultivation.
Xiao Zhan confirmed this, “Yes, I think starting from aesthetic views to detailed observation, I feel that there were definitely influences.”
On whether Xiao Zhan still went to art exhibitions, the question seemed like a luxury to him – his eyes widened, he straightened himself, and he started smiling widely, “There is very little time now for art exhibitions, I would see them via friends who went and posted in their social media, or those art-related media accounts.”
There could be no burden

This is the promotion song from movie “Two Tigers” sung by Xiao Zhan. There was once in a variety show that he was requested to use his facial muscles to move a cookie on the side of his face into his mouth, while singing. Before the game started, Xiao Zhan pointed at the camera and laughed, “I really do have an idol’s image burden! I really do have an idol’s image burden!” However, after the game started, you see no sign of his “burden”, just 100% into moving his facial muscles, working hard to get to the cookie.
What is an idol’s image burden? Is there art in an idol’s image burden? There are no answers, but we can look for it in Xiao Zhan’s “Two Tigers”.
Art often gave the answers to philosophy. For example, an idol’s image burden could be thrown away, hence it is definitely not art; Art follows the heartbeat, follows life, just like the Vincent van Gogh, a man whose life bloomed and withered like the summer flowers, in the hearts of people like Xiao Zhan.
This phrase “A designer who can’t sing isn’t a good actor” seemed nonsensical, but if you think about it, it seemed to suit Xiao Zhan a lot.
He actually yearns the audiences’ recognition so much
It seemed like Xiao Zhan did gain fame after a single battle, but it was not just one battle – there were more raging battles before then.
The dancing spirit, wearing bright red and green clothes, in “Monster Hunt 2” – the camera panned past him without a HD shot; The minor role of a special agent in “The Rookies” – with some onscreen time less than a minute… And there were more, such as “Star Academy”, “Oh! My Emperor”, “Battle Through the Heaven”, “Shuttle Love Millennium”… Never heard of them? Eh, well this proved a problem – how could there be so many people who became “famous after a battle”?
What next? Xiao Zhan happily shared, “If everything goes well, there would be three roles coming to meet everyone, two period, one modern.”
Alright, the modern role would be Doctor Gu of “Oath of Love”. In fact, there were already naughty fans yelling that they were going to register for Doctor Gu’s hospital. Two period roles from “Douluo Continent” and “The Wolf”. Which do Xiao Zhan like the most? Xiao Zhan was unable to answer, “I feel like I like them all. Three different roles, three different pace!”
So, for the audiences who are already familiar with the two roles from “Joy of Life” and “The Untamed”, which are the ones that are closest to Xiao Zhan himself?
Xiao Zhan shook his head, “They weren’t quite similar to me.”
With regards to his roles, his works, let us get to some quick Q&A.
Q: After experiencing the life of the role, would that some what affect yourself?
A: I feel that there are some influences to my usual personality.
Q: Would it make you mature faster?
A: I feel that it makes my life richer, it means that I have experienced multiple different lives.
Q: What is your long term goal as an actor?
A: If we are talking about long term goal, it is definitely being able to act in a drama that I love, and then gain audiences’ recognition for that. I feel that this is my ultimate term goal.
Q: Which role do you like? How do you live with your roles?
A: I feel that there isn’t the most loved, I’m just someone who enjoys the moment. For example, when I’m in the current role, I will invest myself entirely into that role, and then I will cherish him and love him. But when I have to go to my next battle, I will put him down and let him go. And then, I will invest all of my passion for the next one.
He actually likes to smile so much
Observing Xiao Zhan up close and personal – his head narrow, his face small and firm, the folded long legs were especially straight and long. Xiao Zhan, is really thin.
When asked if he was at his thinnest, Xiao Zhan smiled, “No, I was the lightest during ‘The Untamed’, it was shot with ‘Joy of Life’, that was the period. I feel like I’ve regained more than what I’ve lost.”
Wei Wuxian in “The Untamed” liked to smile, all the time, everywhere; Yan Bingyun in “Joy of Life” was cold, all the time, as cold as ice. These two roles shot at the same time, just the emotions were already poles apart – the effort in switching in between them definitely exhausted a lot of brain cells.
When asked if he remembered his longest working day ever since his debut, Xiao Zhan looked down and smiled, then exclaimed at the same time with me, “A few days!”
Whether he could mentally sustain the current pace was not the main point – whether he could physically sustain was hotly debated. On this, Xiao Zhan replied especially fast, “I could adjust to it, really! I personally preferred a busier schedule, the feeling of being busy, makes me feel more fulfilling, and more sense of security.”
“Sense of security” – Xiao Zhan used this phrase, how did he understand it?
For example, Xiao Zhan said that there were instances of him in bad temper, and then he was asked if he would flip tables. Xiao Zhan was slightly taken aback, and answered with a smile, “I can see that you’ve never done design, a designer is a contractor working for his clients, if the clients have opinions, you need to communicate properly and slowly convince them…”
Everyone has a different understanding and adaptation when it comes to “bad temper”, a lot of it came from experience and self control of emotions – similarly, our understanding and adaptation of “sense of security” would be different as well, because everyone’s sense of responsibility and experiences would be different. For a youth to openly bring up “sense of security” and fight for that, we could only choose to give him our blessings. Because, in the blur of the mind, we could almost see ourselves in him.
Before I could give him my well wishes, Xiao Zhan gave the readers and audiences an especially down-to-earth and warm blessing, “I feel that more well wishes are repeated too often. I will simply wish everyone a smooth path ahead, and then peace and safety would be nice!”
Finally, we would emphasize one point – Xiao Zhan really likes to smile!
Moreover, Xiao Zhan’s smiles are varied – there is gentle, healing, mischievous, surprising, confident, hearty, shy, embarrassed… and every one of these smiles could be extended into a language of its own.
There is this saying about a child who likes to smile…

GSHSJSS, the show does anything it can to make sure it doesn’t have to show minor and extra character’s dæmons.
But man, how I adore how it’s fleshing out unseen moments from the book: a lot of Lyra and Mrs. Coulter’s time together, Farder Coram and John Faa trying to find Billy, Roger and Billy in captivity. A good adaptation of a show doesn’t change big parts of its mythos; it adds to that mythos to expand it in new and exciting ways.
While they’ve been in London, Lyra and Mrs. C have matched in shades of blue. 👀
YO, the monkey growling under the table when Lyra mentions Dust, and Pan noticing. I love seeing the complexities of the dæmons.
Lyra lying so effortlessly to Mrs. Coulter is A+, but the bad part already established is that Mrs. C, liar extraordinaire, can tell when her kid is lying.

Wow, she was about to walk away and leave it be, but then she stayed. (Because she can never get away from the occasional urge to jump.)

“Please leave me alone.” / And then nodding, Mrs. Coulter actually does it. Wow.
And they both sink to the floor away from each other. I’m losing my mind. This acting is so good.

I love that Boreal and this Thomas dude are just talking about dæmons in the non-magical world in, like, a coffee shop.
Mrs. Coulter is trying to lie about Roger still being in Oxford, and Lyra is not having it. Go, girl.

What ‘Carry On’ means to me
For Jared. For Jensen.
I don't know where to start except perhaps by saying 'Thank You.' Thank you for the most beautiful finale that has made my heart break and soar all at once. 'Carry On' was everything AND SO MUCH MORE.
I had a little wish-list of things I wanted to see in the finale. And you know, I got even more than I ever wanted.
I am never gonna forget watching the last ever episode live. Being in the UK I waited until 2am in the morning and nothing has ever been more worth staying up for. And I just knew, as soon as it started, I thought to myself, this is gonna be everything I want, I felt it in my bones.
I've loved Supernatural and Sam and Dean since it started over here in 2006 I think, when the promos would be 'Scary Just Got Sexy' haha and I was instantly hooked. It has been my constant. Supernatural has made me laugh and cry to each extreme.
I loved the premise, I loved the fact that these two brothers with so much history between them were getting back on the road together, 'Saving people, hunting things' in honestly the coolest car I ever saw.
And from the start, it was special, this bond between the Winchesters. And for all the wonderful characters along the way, Ellen, Bobby, Pamela, Gabriel, Crowley, Jack there's way too may to mention, the bond between Sam and Dean, that red string that tied them together, was the heart and soul of the show for me. That thing between them, that love, that sacrifice, the way they couldn't live without each other, how even in the worst of times they always came back to one another. They were each other's person. The rawness, the mistakes, the desperation all of it mixed into the most complex, heartbreaking but also wonderful relationship I have ever seen.
I love how it showed Sam and Dean as brothers bantering and playing practical jokes and arguing to the other extreme of selling souls and doing whatever it took to get their brother, their soulmate back. They saved each other over and over. And this was always the magic of Supernatural. Sam and Dean. And that is why the finale means so much to me.
I was such a mess when I saw it and still am, I can't stop crying and you're both so dedicated, that I know Sam and Dean are part of you and you're gonna keep them safe for us. I don't think I could ever find the right words, the best words to describe how much the finale means to me. Very few things touch me so deeply and I'm proud to say that this has.
The barn scene will go down as one of the most intensely emotional and soul crushing scenes I have ever witnessed. I was shaking when it started and when I saw the rebar an overwhelming sense of dread filled me. I thought then they're gonna kill one of the brothers and as soon as Sam had gotten back up, I knew it would be Dean, it kind of had to be.
Like before this, I wanted Sam and Dean to die together if they had to, but Dean's death was so achingly powerful, Sam's grief making me shake and cry like nothing else, that I knew this was right. Dean would finally get the peace he deserved and Sam loved him so intensely that as devastating as it was to let him go, he did it for Dean. It felt like every word, every piece of love and memory and ache was shared between them. And I knew then, that they would meet again, in their shared heaven.
'Carry On' just kept giving and giving me everything I had ever wished to see. I am crying as I am typing this, crying thinking of their goodbye scene, how intertwined they are with each other, how Sam has to let Dean go, how Dean can finally find that peace and know that his Sammy can get the normal life he always wanted for him. It absolutely wrecked me. The beautiful callbacks to the pilot, I felt like I was back 15 years it was so special. The dialogue, those touches make everything so real and poignant and the care and love you both put into Supernatural shines like nothing else.
I never thought I would see something so beautiful and powerful but the moment Dean said 'I love you so much' I just absolutely went to pieces. That was my dream. That was on my wish list and I would have been happy with a 'Bitch. Jerk.' But this was so much more.
'Carry On' feels like a gift. Something I will treasure all my life. And I wish and hope one day I can tell you both for real. EDIT: I told Jared and he sent me a video 17/03/2021 and it means the absolute world to me <3
I also love how the little moments like Sam wearing Dean's watch and how Dean Jr said the exact same words to his Dad as Sam had to Dean, to let him go. That was exquisite. The clothes he had on in the pilot when he meets Dean in heaven, because their happiness is when they are together. It was the perfect ending. And I am grateful and proud beyond words to love Supernatural and Sam and Dean and for you, Jared and Jensen, for giving us so much.
I could write a thousand pages about the finale. I will always write and think about it. But for now, I hope in some way this can show how much Sam and Dean and 'Carry On' meant to me, and so many others.
I'm not strong enough to let Sam and Dean go. But then I realised, I don't have to.
Sam and Dean have been in my life for 15 years. And they'll be in the rest of my life.
