"Well, suddenly finding I've got a whole life to live, but no…but no idea what to do with it, well, it's like having the alethiometer but no idea how to read it. […] I'm lost, really, now."
They looked at her: her eyes were glittering more than usual, her chin was held high with a look she'd learned from Will without knowing it. She looked defiant as well as lost, Dame Hannah thought, and admired her for it; and the Master saw something else—he saw how the child's unconscious grace had gone, and how she was awkward in her growing body. But he loved the girl dearly, and he felt half-proud and half in awe of the beautiful adult she would be, so soon.
He said, "You will never be lost while this college is standing, Lyra."

I hadn't drawn so many animals in the same picture ever! I've decided to ignore anything canon and this is what actually happens the whole time and they are all happy :_)
Click on the image please I worked a lot on it <3

what really gets me about the phrase "tell them stories" is that what humanised the harpies were childhood memories, of the days lyra and roger spent together inside an oxford college and on top of its roof. it wasn't anything grand and extraordinary (the word lyra's parents kept insisting on her) but just the happiness of being with an old friend. lyra's journey to the land of the dead was rather extraordinary, but only the simplest of stories brought her home. i think there's an important message there that while you can choose to live a life full of danger and adventure, the most mundane moments such as your friend baking you a birthday cake or a time where you stayed out in the sun until you burnt can create a life worth telling stories about... only emphasised by the serpent sharing the simple memory of falling in love

Feeling sad about the fact that like. Lyra had nobody waiting for her when she came back to Jordan. Yeah, Iorek said that she's always welcome at Svalbard, but as we saw in season one, that's pretty far away, it's not like she can just pop over for coffee and a catch up whenever she feels like it. Serafina goes through with her, but she's got a whole clan to be queen of, she's got shit to do- and, with the prophecy resolved, she can consider her duty to Lyra done, she doesn't need to keep watching over her anymore.
She had Roger, but he's dead and dissolved into atoms, same with Lee. Her parents jumped into oblivion, so it's not like there's even the hope of reconciling with them at some point. The only people she still has in Oxford, really, are the Master, Ma Costa, John Faa and Farder Coram, who would probably like to see she's okay, but we don't see any reunions with any of them. And at the end of the day, it's not really the same as Will reuniting with Elaine. For all we joked in the first two seasons about Lyra collecting parents everywhere she goes, when all is said and done, she doesn't really have anyone left- nobody on that level, at least.
And that's honestly really sad to me.

I'd like to take a moment to thank all the people involved in the making of this absolutely magnificent show, from the writers, the producers, the cast and the crew. it's clear that every one put love and dedication in this and the result is this masterpiece
I believe this is one of the best adaptation I've ever seen, it shown dedication to the characters and their storylines. they weren't afraid to make different choices but I won't be judging them for it because we'll always have the books plus this gem of a show
thank you for giving life to my absolute favourite books' series. I started reading it when I was 11/12, like lyra's age, and now more than 10 years later I'm still crying and be emotional over these stories
"tell them stories" thank you to tell this one, it will be always have a special place in my heart
lyra, pan, will, marisa, asriel, mary, serafina, iorek, roger, ruta, lee, john
I'll always tell your story, thank you

do you think lee recognized roger when he got to the land of the dead? do you think he asked him what happened, hoping lyra wasn't with him? do you think he got angry when roger told him how he died? do you think he felt guilty that he helped deliver roger to the man that killed him, thinking he was taking the child to safety? do you think he held roger, asking his forgiveness for sending him to his death? do you think lee cursed asriel's name for all he'd done not just to lyra, but also to roger?
because i do.

just remembered philip pullman let us believe the "great betrayal" lyra was going to commit occurred in the same book he first mentioned it, where she went to massive lengths to save roger, but then accidentally ended up delivering him straight to his death at the end of northern lights.
except two books later, in the amber spyglass, lyra leaves pan behind, willingly leaves part of her own soul behind, and the experience is terrible not only because "it was her misfortune she could see and talk to the part she must leave", but because it is exactly what almost happened at bolvangar, what was so terrible a notion in her universe, that we were begging for that not to be her fate for the entirety of the first book.
only this time, she is the one forcing the separation, to be able go into the land of the dead, to speak to roger and apologise for that first betrayal.
and the fact that that's the point where the master of jordan's prophecy is brought up again, and we're told that that was the moment it was truly fulfilled??
the idea that this was a great part of her destiny the entire time, it was always going to be her fate, and she was as unaware of it as we were??
this series kills me everytime i think about it.
