#guillermo my second favourite
Text
After killing off a main character by caving his head in, bringing him back as a small child with a grown man's face, introducing vampire Elvis AND the jersey devil, having a main character who is human and murders humans and wants to be a vampire and murders vampires, having the reason for that be Van Helsing dna, introducing a syren who is also a garbage bird, resurrecting a vampire's ghost then putting her soul in a doll to be a recurring character, 80s workout vampire cult, ancient imperial malewives, "gay is in gay is hot I want some gay", property brothers parody for an entire episode, MULTIPLE homoerotic fight scenes, every character being explicitly queer as hell, and LAZSLO CRAVENSWORTH IN HIS ENTIRETY, I can safely say that What We Do in the Shadows has cemented itself as my favourite show and possibly the most show ever
I'm gonna go scream at a mountain now

nadja of antipaxos x f!vamp!reader
(nadja is still married to laszlo, reader is nadja’s gf)
• she’s not big on fluffy PDA, so moments where it’s just the two of you and bonding over something is like a warm hug for the both of you
• she definitely sired you! the second she saw you she couldn’t keep her fangs away, she couldn’t resist you
• she LOVES having another girl around the house! she also loves the fact that you happen to be her gf too teehee
• ranting about laszlo is lowkey a daily occurrence. she’ll rant, say how much she loves you both, and then you’ll fuck!
• it’s canon that she sires powerful offspring (jenna being able to TURN INVISIBLE??) so you definitely have some cool vampire power that she loves showing off like “hey this is my girlfriend, i sired her. she’s so powerful! we r gonna kiss now”
• you’re ALWAYS defending her to the boys, we all know she’s the most powerful vampire in that house, sometimes she just needs another voice echoing her opinions and that’s okay!
• helping her run nadjas and helping her with the math on how much money is a little too much to launder (bc she’s 500+ years old and “math ain’t like it used to be honey”)
• helping her with corsets! laszlo was NO help.
• sometimes you feel a little guilty about yours and nadjas relationship. sometimes you feel second to laszlo and other times you feel like you’re separating them. but nadja is CONSTANTLY reassuring you that isn’t the case (and so is laszlo!)
• being besties w guillermo and/or laszlo (i don’t make the rules)
• insults your outfits (in a jokey way hehe) bc her fashion sense is superior
nsfw!
• SWITCHHHH but MAJOR dom. LOVES being in control. tbh she loves being in control of everything in her life but ESPECIALLY during sex
• she loves undressing you slowly, gently.
• major boobs woman
• the strap is like her favourite thing ever. constantly talking about how she doesn’t know what she did without it.
• encourages you to sleep with other people too (only if you’re comfy) because she’s very confident in that you will always love her and come back to her
• HICKEYSSSS. guillermo once made a joke about you ‘sleeping with a vampire’ and then realised…!
• did i say she loves boobs? because she LOVES them.
• overstimulation is a MAJOR kink of hers
• ^ so is quickies lols

i dont think i will ever be over nandor tying guillermos cape with such care and focus. that moment its possibly my favourite from the finale NANDOR ACTS OF SERVICE GUY MAKES ME WANNA CLIMB A WALL and the way hes putting guillermo on equal ground now makes my heart grow 3 sizes
and to be honest i dont think they can go back to where they were before. for anyone whos worried. like yeah he told him “now clean up the body” after he reverted back to human but to me that was more like nandors brain going like. “i cooked now you clean”. he went through such a tremendous amount of work to help guillermo. he had the empathy to recognise the problem. he thought it through concocted a plan. he got the robes and the candles and he painted and hung those banners. he held a fakeass ceremony with all their friends and elders so it looked official. he then also comforted guillermo when he couldnt do it and staked derek himself without a second thought. so maybe its was more of a. i pulled you out of a very hairy situation. can you take care of the body now? (also it IS gonna be hard to let go of certain habits so maybe some comments like this are gonna slip out next season, but that is just because they are useless and in guillermos absence the house fucking imploded in one year lmao… maybe guillermo is gonna teach them how to take care of it themselves next season so they can split the workload and cute shenanigans will ensue)
i just dont think it was mean spirited on nandors part tbh. LAZLO even offered to help. i dont think that was just to have him in the next scene i dont think an unusual detail like that could be just for convenience. i do FULLY believe they are gonna all be on equal grounds next season. and thats gonna be so fucking delicious to me specifically
#to see a nandor and guillermo dynamic where nandor has freed himself from the inibitions of a master familiar dynamic? sign me up#he was so fucking warm and caring after he forgave him and idk if i can handle it GOD I LOVE IT#nandermo#what we do in the shadows#wwdits#wwdits spoilers#comment#im making a post out of some of my tags in one of my queued posts bc i#want to put this thought out in the world#i saw a lot of people going now that guillermos human everythings back to the status quo!!! and im like#no the fuck i hope not!! their relationship has consistently moved in a new direction each season#familiar. bodyguard. best man. best friend. now they went through allllll the trouble of showing them having an equals relationship#they made nandor utter the words he will be living in this house as an equal from now on#and next season everythings gonna revert back?? i surely hope not#there is also to be considered from nandors standpoint that now guillermo truly has no more reason to stay. he really isnt a#familiar anymore because he presumably doesnt want to be a vampire anymore (?) so he has to consider#if he wants guillermo to stick around. its gonna have to be out of the love he has for them. and nandor needs to give him an incentive#which would be equal grounds with the vampires even though he isnt one#and guillermo is probably gonna be in such an existential crisis mode that hes not even gonna notice all the cute things nandor is doing#for him now for a WHILE. until he does and thats gonna be delicious#anyway. why do i keep making excellent points in the tags this could have been a post

Favorite movie from 01?
[Give me a year and I'll give you my favourite films / recommendations]
Tumblr media
Perhaps "favourite" isn't the best word, perhaps the best word is "biggest obsession", but I have to go with Mulholland Drive. David Lynch is a very special case, you're either into him or you ain't, and arguments either way are of little use. I just want to note 2 things, about Lynch in general and Mulholland in particular:
Contrary to all appearances, it actually makes sense. It may be a weird sense, a dream sense (literally a dream, for like half of this movie), but it's not random.
It doesn't need to make sense to you to be enjoyable. It's perfectly cool to treat it like a trip, and just get lost in the highway sauce. You can revisit it later, and think about it and look up what others have made of it, but it's optional.
Now, these 4 are my favourite 2001 films:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spirited Away needs no introduction, it's widely thought as the best Ghibli film, and I love it to bits.
I'm a complete sucker for Moulin Rouge! and for truth! beauty! freedom! love!, and will accept no criticism at this time.
El espinazo del diablo (The Devil's Backbone) is early Guillermo del Toro, and a sort of prelude to Pan's Labyrinth: it's horror, it's set during the Spanish Civil War, and it takes a stance, along with its own supernatural elements.
And I simply adore Hedwig and the Angry Inch (second musical lol). Does that need an introduction, on 2024 tumblr?
Also of interest:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monster's Ball is the best from the rest, an incredible drama with Halle Berry's best performance. Very disturbing from start to finish. "Billy Bob Thornton plays a prison guard who begins a relationship with a woman (Halle Berry), unaware that she is the widow of a man (Sean Combs) he assisted in executing."
Ocean's Eleven is the fully on-brand film, it pretty much defined what modern American heist films should be like. No small feat!
Das Experiment: so the Stanford experiment inspired some notoriously bad takes, not least by Zimbardo himself. It also inspired this amazing film. Please don't bother with the pointless American remake. (I owe tumblr a serious post about the Stanford experiment btw, but this is not the place.)
The Brotherhood of the Wolf is surely the wackiest AND darkest action / horror / period / swashbukcling / wuxia / monster film out there. We're in 18th century France, there's the legendary beast of Gévaudan, and cults, and spies, and all of the above.
Il mestiere delle armi (The Profession of Arms) is a shoutout to @wearemercs, it's a realistic war film with landsknechts and condottieri in 16th century Italy, we don't see that every day.
@feyariel I remember that Metropolis was wonderful and I loved it, but not much else about it. Sorry, it's been a while and I have shit for memory!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monsters, Inc.: not best Pixar, but good Pixar
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: can't leave this one out!
The Man Who Wasn't There: excellent neo-noir by the Cohens
Gosford Park: a whodunit set at an English country house, and the polar opposite of Downton Abbey (which goes at great lengths to convince us that masters deserve their servants' loyalty), ironically written by the same person
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (Amélie): here begin the films that were adored back then, especially by the artsy/festival crowd, but I haven't seen them since and I've no idea how they've aged
Ghost World: based on the comic book by Daniel Clowes
Waking Life: Linklater, philosophy, rotoscope, Ethan Hawke's there, oh my!
Y tu mamá también: Alfonso Cuarón, road trips, sex, young Diego Luna, young Gael García Bernal, oh my!
Ichi the Killer: by Takashi Miike, based on Hideo Yamamoto's manga. do not watch this if you're not completely sure you wanna watch this lol

𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐖𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐥𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨'𝐬 𝐬/𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞
⤷ gender neutral, ambiguous race, and any size reader. Requests are open, thank you for reading!
a/n: I know the werewolves in the show are very humorous but I’m doing my own little angsty twist on it, m’kay? Love ya
Warnings: mentions of blood (there are vampires)
ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ
SFW🌿
・Not a lot of people understood how a werewolf came to be. Well, you didn’t either.
・One day you woke up with an urge, and that urge grew and grew until the night of a full moon, when you had your first transformation
・You had completely blacked out. But with each full moon, the transformation became easier and easier
・On your own, you had mastered how to morph aspects of your appearance into wolf form. For example, your eyes glowing gold and your teeth turning into fangs
・You had been on your own for a while, juggling life and this huge secret, when you met Callum.
・Callum was the leader of the pack -
・He wasn’t always the smartest guy in the room. But he had a good heart, plus he was really experienced with the whole werewolf thing
・But you didn’t expect his reaction when you told him about you and Guillermo
・It was like a fit of rage, things were thrown around (not very far, and they were mostly things that he had bought)
・So you kept the relationship to yourself
・And you kept asking if Guillermo was worth it
・The man with such a sweet smile, his kindness was so heartwarming and he always listened to you
・He wasn’t like any other person you had met
・Plus, his determination was astounding
・He’d told you about his ambition to become a vampire. To leave the Familiar life behind and take hold of his destiny
・Although a hint of concern and sadness reached your subconscious, you mainly felt excited for him
・The late nights you’d spent at his place, secretly squeezing in his small space. You didn’t mind though. It didn’t matter whether you were underneath a staircase or at the Ritz hotel - you just wanted to be with Guillermo
・Some days you like to count the freckles on the bridge of his nose
・But those days are scarce - he’s usually awake before you are
・And he likes to surprise you with your favourite drink in bed, coupled with a bagle or toasted sandwich
・He constantly does little things like this. Getting you small gifts, or doing chores for you. Gift-giving and acts of service are his love language.
・While he loves when you think about him; helping with his Familiar work. Or buying him more clothes (sometimes the blood stains are hard to get out...)
・Quality time is also a must
・He enjoys taking you to the movies, or an art gallery
・Guillermo is a really intelligent guy, and he likes books a lot. But because of his lower class upbringing, he could only borrow books from the library
・And although you don’t have a lot of money, you go to second-hand stores and find books in his favourite genre
・You usually buy him about 5 books per week
・And he has them stacked up against the wall
・Guillermo was definitely apprehensive about leaving some of his belongings at your place, but you felt over the moon that your relationship had progressed that far
・ “Don’t feel pressured, but I’d love if you’d leave some stuff here. It feels ... like we’re serious...”
・He calls you “mi amor,” (”my love” in Spanish)
・And he’s DEFINITELY told his mother about you. He beams whenever he’s speaking about you; the swell of pride is amicable
・Your life feels fuller with him in it
・On the flip side, Guillermo constantly felt unworthy
・Having your love felt like was holding the most precious and expensive diamond in the world
・The way your eyes lit up when he remembered something, the clapping and snorts you made when you were laughing.
・He couldn’t imagine a life without you
・So he started to research: how long werewolves usually live, were there any vampire/werewolf hybrids. He even went to Nandor with his questions
“Guillermo,” the tall vampire said, quirking his eyebrow, “why do you need to know this?” His dark eyes narrowed.
“Oh, ugh, no - no reason. Just ... curious...”
“You know what they say about curiosity, Guillermo! It killed those cats because they were nosy ...” he trailed off and turned, leaving Guillermo standing in the hallway.
・There was one lazy afternoon when Guillermo turned to you, his hair ruffled and glasses on the bedside table. (It was much nicer staying at your place).
・ “I love you, do you know that?”
・His words felt like stepping into a hot shower on a cold winter morning, or like the first bite of your favourite food after a crappy day.
・ “I love you too, Guillermo.”

Writeblr Introduction | Morana Warrin
I have finally created a Tumblr for my writing. I haven't been on here since I just got internet access (around 2013 so you can probably guess the things I saw) but I need a place to throw all my ideas at a wall and watch as they trickle down into a puddle of lost nights of sleep and aesthetic pinterest boards.
▸ About
▸My name is Morana, I would prefer they/them pronouns but, to be frank, I do not care what you refer to me as. I have been writing for a long time (too long if you ask some people) but in the past three years, I have been taking the profession much more seriously in hopes of starting a career. Besides being a writer and a threat to modern society, I also dabble in drawing/graphic design and character design.
▸I adore 19th-century Russian literature (Mikhail Bulgakov is my personal favourite) and absurdist texts. There isn't a moment of my day when I'm not listening to some sort of music, I do not discriminate genres in the slightest but I am partial to rock and its many subgenres. I love any 90s and early 2000s movies, early Hollywood horror flicks, and Soviet films from the 80s.
▸ Current Projects
(I am horrible at summaries so please take pity on me. also check TWs)
Tumblr media
The Resurrectioners
You only live twice.
(TW: Mentions of s*icide)
After the deaths of her two sisters in a car crash, twenty-seven-year-old Samara Dombroski decides that her life is no longer worth living and makes a successful attempt at her own life. Only there's one problem:
She doesn’t stay dead for very long.
An indeterminate amount of time later, Samara wakes up in a strange, vast estate plagued by visions of the past that she can’t control. She learns that this place is run by a man known only as The Resurrectionist, a necromancer armed with a group of assassins possessing strange abilities called Resurrectioners, an eclectic group of individuals who all share her story: people who found death by their own hand or by some other tragic means.
Now a resurrectioner herself, Samara must repay the debt of her second chance at life to The Resurrectionist by disposing of cadavers for him: violent, ghoulish beings that result from misused necromancy who feast on flesh and bone. Once she has killed enough to satisfy The Resurrectionist, she will be released from the estate she is trapped in and free to live the rest of her life.
genre: dark fantasy, thriller
Tumblr media
What We Undertake
Some things are better left undead.
Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak meets Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow in this paranormal mystery and gothic romance set in the late 19th century.
Our tale follows one Dolores Clive, resident medium and the daughter of the late Warren Clive, Boston's most beloved undertaker. After her father's death and subsequent take over of the family business, Dolores has become a recluse haunted by ghosts of her past and near future which all comes to head when her step-sister arrives in town with her newly acquired fiancé and his rather strange but beautiful brother in tow following a string of murders.
Genre: horror/supernatural fiction, gothic fiction
Tumblr media
The Stray Girls
It's not drugs that are killing these teens.
(TW: Mentions of drugs and alcohol)
Set in the fictional city of Maynard, The Stray Girls is a retelling of The Lost Boys centred around a cast of troubled teen girls set 10 years later in 1997'.
After once again deciding to move across the country with her daughters, Magdelena's mother decides that cheap rent is worth more than her daughter's lives when she moves to Maynard, Washington— which currently boasts the largest missing girl population in the country. While settling into their new home, Magda notices her elder sister Roxanne is beginning to act strange: leaving the house in the middle of the night, wearing sunglasses indoors, and sleeping all day. First suspecting it to be drugs, Magda thinks nothing of it, but as time goes on and her sister's personality makes a sudden shift in the wrong direction, she can no longer pretend like everything is alright. Meeting the group of troubled girls that her sister now calls 'friends' slowly leads her down a path of crime, thrill and peer pressure. But it's not booze that these girls are drinking: it's blood.
Genre: Teen Adventure/Horror

Though my aesthetic and writing style may scream morbid academic pretentiousness, I assure you my online presence and writing greatly contrast with my personality (and looks for that matter) so please do not be alarmed by my frequent buffoonery, general bastardness, and bombastic vulgarity.
Thank you for reading! (or skipping to the end)

I have read many hunter's backstories here on Tumblr, and was really inspired to write about Guillermo's past. Big text ahead! And my vision of the bloodborne ending. As always - hope it's readable! :^)
Tumblr media
Guillermo is a foreigner. He came from far south, where he lived comfortably and got a good education. But he always was ill. However, this did not prevent him from living a full life, only sometimes. When Guillermo was frightened or felt sick, his heart ached. Local doctor told him - to the age of forty his heart will be worn out. And there will be only few years left for him. Diagnosis stunned Guillermo, but nobody could help with it - heart diseases were still unexplored area of medicine in his homeland. That's why when he heard that in Yharnam was found a cure, Guillermo moved off and went on his way to the new city.
Yharnam, as it was, exhausted him , killed and resurrected. But also opened his second breath - Guillermo found himself in hunt, in investigation of Yharnam's past. He felt as if he had entered one of his favourite books, except for that book was trying to kill him now and chew up in it's bloody maw. But what he had to loose? Either die with honour for a good cause, or hide in a corner and die with an awful pain, tearing his heart to pieces.
About Micolash he only read in old Byrgenwerth notes. By the time they meet, Guillermo knew only that Micolash existed somewhen and founded School of Mensis. His chase for an insane scholar must have ended with Micolash's death, but suddenly Guillermo felt breath of sea wind and heard song to the Great Kos. He saw a dream, disconnected from Nightmare's reality in the middle of the fight, a dream about bottomless sea, dark harbor and warm, calling light. When he woke up, Micolash was looking right at him.
He didn't remember what happened then, but Guillermo left the Nightmare to learn more about Great Ones, and search for any information who Micolash is and who he was. When he realized that he fell for a madman, he knew that without Micolash's death there will be no salvetion for Yharnam. Guillermo killed him without hesitation, although his heart ached badly that day (or night?)
After becoming Great One, Guillermo was cured of heart defect, but also of any feelings. He wasn't a human anymore. But somehow image of black-haired man stayed in his heart with him. Guillermo dreamed of seeing him once again, but not in that terrible state he was, otherwise - in his prime.
And so former hunter was leading Yharnam to its new future.

The Angel of Death, Hellboy 2
I showed this figurine briefly in my library tour post, but I wanted to make a separate dedicated post because I love it so much.
Guillermo del Toro is incredible, I think Pan's Labyrinth in particular is one of the most beautiful movies ever made. His style is always visually stunning, but probably my favourite character design in any of his movies (apart from the Faun) is the Angel of Death from Hellboy 2.
I did not make this, it was designed and created by my very talented friend, Sid's Workshop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I no longer have any of the work in progress pictures she sent me or I'd include those too.
It was sculpted onto a doll body with air drying clay. I'm not familiar with dolls so I don't know what original doll she used, but she picked a very slender one to fit with Doug Jones' body type.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the wings she made wire frames and inset dolls eyes into them. This is actually the second Angel of Death she made, but I'm glad of that as it meant she was a little more confident about making the wings with two joints as they are in the movie. The OG which you can see on her insta only has one wing-joint and it's slightly less detailed overall.
Tumblr media
The robes are some random scraps of fabric which she dyed and paint splattered. The block base means it doesn't need a stand, and I usually arrange the robes so it's totally covered and can't be seen when it's on my shelf.
I specifically asked for her to be holding the spear tip which she removes from Hellboy to save him in the movie, so the arms were arranged appropriately before the clay was applied.
Tumblr media
This is truly one of my favourite possessions, totally unique, and although expensive as it was handmade and represents many hours of work, I was more than happy to pay to support a friend and independent artist.
She tagged Doug Jones in a post about this doll on Instagram, and he liked and reshared it!

Ask game
I was tagged by @drakenhert and I am very grateful although I have no idea how this works. Thank you, sweet friend <3
Questions:
Favourite colour: Probably yellow, but not neon. I like canary yellow and colours similar to it. Truly, I just love colours. You should see my wardrobe, it's filled with it.
Last song: Abandon the hospital by Everybody's Worried About Owen. Something about that song makes me go wild. Other recommendations: One October by Dom Fera, Evil Men by The Taxpayers, Ængus, The Prize-Winning Hog by The Toxhards.
Last movie: "Dzień Świra" (Day of the Wacko) dir. Marek Koterski. It can tell you all about Polish people in a satirical and ironic way. I think we all can relate to Adaś, the main character, a middle-aged teacher who is also an amateur writer. He faces the everyday life with difficulty, but who doesn't?
Currently watching: I don't have time to watch anything right now, but I watched Shadow and Bone like two weeks ago. Does that count?
Other stuff watched this year: The World Without End (great medieval drama, highly recommend), Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (horror, not that scary but fascinating), The Nevers (science-fiction, my favourite show of all time, women <3), Dark Tourist (documentary, a guy visits quirky places)
Show i dropped this year: The Good Doctor. I was just too sad watching it.
Currently reading: Ulysses Moore #6 (idk the title in English). A really nice comeback to my childhood. Nostalgia and all that stuff. What I was surprised by is that even though I am not a child anymore, the language of the book is not boring at all.
Currently listening to: At this moment right now, Dirty Imbecile by The Happy Fits. But in general it varies, from Midwest emo to Pitbull, so that's not a good question.
Currently working on: My first ff. I am obsessed with it and since June, I have written more than 60k words. Although, I don't think anyone would be interested in reading it because, as my cousin and one of my friends said "The fandom has 7 people, you are one of them, three are your friends, two are actors who played in the show, and one is some mysterious person who is there for some unknown reason." If anybody's interested, I can send a link, but i don't know if you'll get it without watching the show (or more like truly get it).
Current obsession: The Nevers. This is my Roman Empire. I think of that show 24/7 and I will think of it until the day that I die. Just please go watch it, it's really good. Even better the second time because you get some new references.
Thank you all for reading this. It was really fun to do. I will tag few people but feel free to do it if you want to.

Asoue and wwdits
Into the woods if you feel up to it
Thanks for the ask, darling!!
Just answered for asoue here
What We Do In the Shadows
OTP: oh it's gotta be Nadja/Lilith. What can I say; I'm a sucker for lesbians, Lucy Punch, and bitter exes. They really have it all <3
Favourite canon pairing: Nadja/Laszlo of course. Though in recent series they haven't really been getting any screen time so my love for them has been dying somewhat. I hope they get some good scenes in the last season!
Worst pairing ever: Nadja and Colin. Why did they do that. Why did they do that. Why did they do that. Why did they-
Guilty pleasure pairing: I WAS HALFWAY THROUGH WRITING AN 'OH I DON'T REALLY HAVE ONE' PASSAGE WHEN I REALISED I DO. I FUCKING DO AND NO ONE WILL KNOW WHAT I'M ON ABOUT BUT HERE GOES ANYWAY!! Okay so you know in that one episode when Nadja was on the council and they had a fancy banquet and Nandor was in his depression nap and everyone thought he was dead?? Well one of the sexy vampire ladies that turned up was Carmilla (famous vampire from the vampiric novel, Carmilla) and I ABSOLUTELY wanted her and Nadja to get together. There it is, that's the guilty-pleasure ship, yet another one-episode character but somehow worse than Lilith because Carmilla only had like three lines
A pairing you want to see more: Nadja/The Guide!! The Guide is throwing herself at my girl and she is absolutely clueless. Icon <3
That pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Nadja/Jenna. Really not into it, she gave me a VERY strong maternal vibe and I am. Not a fan of shipping them. Again, you do you, but like. Not for me
Favourite non-romantic pair: Nadja & Guillermo! I wish we'd given more focus to their dynamic earlier in the show, they' 've always had the potential to be really great bitchy friends, but we DID get her going absolutely fucking feral to save his life, risking hers in the process, so... it's a win <3
Into the Woods
I have basically never thought about shipping these characters so this is going to be fun
OTP: Baker's Wife and Cinderella. Straight up, I think it would be really fun and also the whole "when you know you can't have what you want what's the profit in wishing?" vs "how can you know what you want til you get what you want and you see if you like it?" I'm just saying, their little late night heart-to-hearts could have turned into something fruity
Favourite canon pairing: Cinderella's Prince/Baker's Wife is literally just funny. Like girlie what was even going through your head there
Worst pairing ever: Rapunzel/Rapunzel's Prince. I'm sorry, she was locked in a tower for her entire life, then abandoned by her mother for the horrible crime of making a friend (and fucking him, but still, that was your fault too buddy-boy), and he has the audacity to complain that she cries too much?? She wandered alone in the desert with newborn twins thinking that you were DEAD. It's been less than a year! My girl had TRAUMA and she deserved better
Guilty pleasure pairing: the Witch and the Stepmother. Do they ever interact? No. Do I think it'd be super funny to pair up the only villainous women just because? Absolutely. They can start an "I was a bad mother but also I love my children with my whole heart" club and make each other worse
A pairing you want to see more: Florinda and Lucinda with Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, respectively. First of all I think it's funny that it would fulfil the whole 'good marriage' thing, but also I just think the stepsisters get a really rough deal and someone needs to get those princesses out of there before the aspiring Henry VIII's get on to their second wives
That pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Baker/Baker's Wife. I'm sorry, there is no good option here. She cheated, he undervalued her at every turn, yells in her face because she just wants to help, and then has this ~wonderful realisation~ that "wow, maybe I should work with my wife!" before going straight back to his "you stay here and do nothing Because I Said So" mindset in act two. Mans has anger issues and I don't like it. Also, again, she cheated. There is no good angle to this relationship
Favourite non-romantic pair: Cinderella and the Baker. They really said "well, that was an awful lot of trauma none of us asked for. Guess we're sticking together and raising a family of two orphans and your infant son that you had with your wife (who's now dead) who cheated with my husband (who's telling people I'm dead)". Like that's so fuckin iconic.
Wait but ALSO the Witch and Rapunzel??? That's a fucking fascinating dynamic right there, like the Witch does love her! She absolutely unequivocally does! But also she doesn't know how to love her, and it is SO endlessly interesting to me and always will be
Send me a fandom and I'll answer these questions!

Binge Report: In Nandermo Hell. Will send postcards.
Tumblr media
WARNING: My ramblings will likely include spoilers.
Yes, I did it. I sat my ass down and binged What We Do in the Shadows. I was so afraid I wouldn't like it, these last few years. I've loved the movie, so dearly... I just couldn't imagine enjoying the series.
I was so, so wrong.
I love pretty much everything about this series. I really do. I do see a smidge of a shift happening with Season Four that I'm hoping will work itself out. Other than that, I'm quite in love with it! (Like the new fragrance line at Howlet & Fawn didn't give me away...).
Laszlo wins out as my favourite character. He's so witty, and perverted, and opinionated. I love his love for Nadja (their love together, really). Someone who tries to come off as detached and dismissive, but has all the heart in the world. And, seriously, who wouldn't love Jackie Daytona?! (That whole episode killed me). Mm. I could go on (and on, and on), but I'll leave it at that.
Colin Robinson is a close second. No joke. The fucker is hysterical. He reminds me of a half-empty plastic water bottle, but he's so funny, and his delivery is just... outstanding. When he said, "I don't want them to think I'm not down to clown", I fucking lost it. He's exceptional, and, as I think about it, I think that is what's missing for me, right now. Don't get me wrong, the child that crawled out of the corpse of Colin Robinson is an absolute riot, but I miss that slice of dry toast in a tie.
Nandor was the character I thought I would dislike, the most. Don't ask me why. He just seemed so... dippy. And, he so fucking is, but I love him this way, and I don't ever want him to change. (He's still a dick, but I like to think he's a loveable, confused dick). His character progression is actually quite fabulous to me.
Guillermo. My dude. I so want him to be happy. HAPPY, DAMN IT ALL. Am I drowning in Nandermo, and wanting him to be happy with Nandor? Fuck, yeah. Am I also aware that Nandor is a total twat, and that Guillermo deserves better? FUCK, yeah. Now, I've never been a Familiar, but I've worked as a downtrodden, bedraggled assistant to a complete cunt muffin, a time or two in my life, and I can relate to this man, so much. Come Hell or high blood pressure, I am in this one's corner.
Nadja is... Well, she's something else. I admit that I was also hesitant about her character. I thought they'd just... Y'know... Ruin her, all together, before I got the chance to enjoy her? I don't know how to describe it, but it's all leftover bull from other series that just swims around in my brain. Anywho. This bitch kicks ass, and I'm very happy she got the chance to at least try the damned Council! I was worried she'd decline the offer because of Laszlo, and while he did pull a dick move, it didn't stop Nadja from following her dreams on the opportunity. I want more for her. I want THE WORLD for her, in a VERY literal form.
And, the side characters... Getting to see Vladislav and Viago and Deacon was a treat for my heart. :3. Omigosh. The Baron and the Sire popping in for the portrait was a bit like calling in Grandma and Grandpa for the Christmas card photo. >XD.
Oh, right! Nandermo! I'm on-board. I've been rooting for them, and for their fans, from the sidelines since I first learned of them, but to experience them for myself? Hell. YES. I live for a slow burn, and their story gives me happy tingles. <3 . I want them together, but I don't want them together. I want the deliciousness to last until The. Perfect. Moment.
The. Perfect. Moment.
I'm a multi-shipper, though, so these little glimpses of Laszlo/Nandor make me incredibly happy, as well. <3.

Fanwork creators self rec! When you get this, reply with your five favorite fics/art/podfics/etc. that you've made, then pass on to others. Let’s spread the self-love 🌼
I have a backlog of fics and shit to go through. Lets see what I got...
5.
For some reason, this short series keeps being read. I'm not sure why because I've not written any other shassie content, but I'm still proud of it getting some decent attention. Even got fanart of it for the first time in my life.
4.
This fic is old. Specifically, 2014 old. And destiel. But I'm still really proud of this one. It's a highschool au written from Lisa's perspective and it was really fun to explore an outsider perspective for a shipping focused story. I'd love to revisit this type of writing again for my more current fandoms.
3.
Tumblr media
STE/DE, my beloved. The moment I read In Favor with Their Stars for the first time, I was in love. I originally managed to start this art it with the intention of making a fanmix for the fic, but I got way too into making this as scene accurate as possible. Well, besides the old looking camera. I just like the look of those.
2.
Tumblr media
I have reread this fic at least 3 or 4 times. The romance, the angst, the drama. Its like a really gay romance novella I picked up then couldn't put down. And while this painting was not from any particular scene, it has a lot of symbolism hidden in it from the story itself. I spent 2 days straight working almost nonstop on this, but I still think it was worth it.
1.
The Fighter and The Fool may be unfinished, but the first chapter is some of the best shit I've written to date. Its funny, angsty, and just a bit ridiculous. I still love rereading it. One of my favourite parts below:
Guillermo blinked. He did. Of course he did. That's why he fought him in the first place. To kill him. He pressed the stake down harder, cutting a deeper wound into Nandor’s neck. Blood welled up in the cut, coating the stake and dripping down onto the grass. But still Nandor lay there, prone and staring up at Guillermo. Waiting. He stood there for a moment, debating. He could kill him so easily. Nandor wasn’t even fighting back. He could turn him to ash and be done with it. But still he hesitated. Several seconds went by the two of them with eyes locked and bodies tense. And then Nandor chuckled. “Interesting,” He said, and then he smiled. And suddenly Guillermo was being yanked backwards, a strong hand on his ankle throwing him down onto the grass. He gasped, his head knocking hard enough into the dirt to see stars. The stake went rolling across the grass. His last one. Fuck.

MY OSCARS PREDICTIONS 2023 | PART 2
Here are my final predictions for tonight’s Oscars. Not too many extra reasons and opinions this time because I am way too sick for that. Anyway, enjoy! I’ll mostly be rooting for Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Best Picture
Should win: Everything Everywhere All At Once
Will win: Everything Everywhere All At Once
Should have been nominated: Nope, Babylon, Decision to Leave, Aftersun
Tumblr media
Best Director
Should win: Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Will win: Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Should have been nominated: Jordan Peele, Nope, Charlotte Wells, Aftersun
Best Lead Actress
Should win: Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Will win: Cate Blanchett, TÁR
Best Lead Actor
Should win: Brendan Fraser, The Whale or Austin Butler, Elvis
Will win: Austin Butler, Elvis
Best Supporting Actress
Should win: Hong Chau, The Whale or Stephanie Hsu, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Will win: Kerry Condon, The Banshees of Inisherin
Should have been nominated: Danai Gurira, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Best Supporting Actor
Should win: Ke Huy Quan, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Will win: Ke Huy Quan, Everything Everywhere All At Once
The acting categories this year are tough because there are too many incredible nominations. The Michelle Yeoh vs. Cate Blanchett race is so difficult as they both really stood out this year and are pretty much equals talent-wise. Personally, I’ll mostly root for Michelle Yeoh because she made the film hers and really managed to move me the most. Likewise with Best Lead Actor, there’s too much talent. Colin Farrell is an incredible actor who perfectly portrayed his character, but Austin Butler was Elvis and my ultimate favourite Brendan Fraser made me cry while watching The Whale. There’s also Paul Mescal who wholeheartedly deserves that nomination and if he went home with the award, I wouldn’t be upset at all.
Best Supporting Actor seems obvious to me but again, Best Supporting Actress I can’t predict well at all. Judging from previous awards shows and who I guess will win overall, I think Kerry Condon has the highest chance. But really, anyone in the category could win. Hong Chau was my favourite, as The Whale isn’t worth much without its incredible acting and she really blew me away. Stephanie Hsu is my second favourite because she was able to bring such a relatable performance but that doesn’t mean I won’t scream with happiness if Angela Bassett wins because again, all such phenomenal talent. Genuinely curious as to who will win, because these are very close calls.
Tumblr media
Best International Feature Film
Should win: Close
Will win: All Quiet On The Western Front
Should have been nominated: Decision To Leave
Heartbroken Close doesn’t stand a chance against the clear favourite as it was the type of film that made me proud to be Belgian. Still my favourite, although I get why it doesn’t get as much international hype as some of the other films. Not nominating Decision to Leave feels like a massive mistake, though.
Best Animated Feature Film
Should win: Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio
Will win: Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio
Should have been nominated: Wendell & Wild
Best Documentary Feature
Should win: ??? (Didn’t get around to watching most of them, sadly)
Will win: Navalny
Should have been nominated: Moonage Daydream

i'm genuinely curious abt why you have crimson peak :o it's one of my favourites as a modern gothic (though i am biased towards guillermo del toro for how he uses colour and shape) and i always wanna hear other takes on it? also bc like. if you have something to recommend in its arena that you like better, i always wanna watch new moview
id have to watch it again so i could pick apart every single thing i hate because thers a lot. like every single scene i could pause and tear apart. its been years so ive forgotten everyhting (ive watched it twice btw i tried to give it a second chance)
from what i remember:
the first scenes depicting what initially seemed like it was gonna be so creepy, immediately made me laugh so hard bc they chose to just give us a full glimpse of the worst CGI-ghost-wraith imaginable. this moment setting the stage for the rest of the film made it really suffer. proof that when it comes to some horror especially gothic horror...less is more
the main actress was a terrible choice imo. she did fine in jane eyre, and thats the only time shes ever done fine. which is fitting. but everything else she does (aka any emotion required beyond haughtiness and brooding and like, reading lines that arent directly pulled from 19th century novels) is so fucking unconvincing. i actually think most of this could be blamed on the script itself, and less with her acting prowess, which leads me to my next point
the dialogue was fucking ghastly like, ooof....... so cliche....... so so so cringey, unimaginative, "trying to sound deep", unconvincing
and the necessary plot devices/maneuvers to make things happen that i didnt feel really made sense at all, in general and also when it came to some of the characters' motivations. i think this was a writing problem in character development and actually portraying effectively why things were happening and why characters were making decisions in ways that the audience wouldnt question if that makes sense
loki did a good job w that role and honestly he alone was the only redeeming quality of this movie
also the whole fucking plot after she gets to crimson peak made me wana kms like. it was so bad im sorry. bad pacing, ineffective buildup of tension, the scary parts the tension led to were just more bad CGI, the lack of development of the main character as A PERSON w certain core strengths and weaknesses in all the scenes leading up to this and the decisions shes makes here (bc in the whole movie she seems to always make contradictory decisions and have contradictory motivations, and theyre not affected by really anything that happens in the movie? she basically has whatever personality a scene requires her to have to further the plot), made this part of the movie suffer.
i feel like a lot of it had to have been edited out perhaps, because the series of events felt extremely clunky to me.
and by the end, i wasnt invested in any of it, any of the characeters, any of the exttremely forced romance between main girl and loki guy, so the twist and ending scene and climax etc etc had zero impact on me
as a result of this and much more i found it impossible to feel invested in it and it (and shape of water) helped me realize guillermo del toro has made good movies but that doesnt mean everyhing he makes is good, and as a fan of a lot of his work, im ok w admitting that
as far as modern gothic horror................ hnnnmmmmmmmmm i honestly could use recs myself.
aside from the obvious interview with the vampire (the original as well as the TV series) and bram stokers dracula, (YES movies from the 90s are modern to me ok??), the TV show Midnight Mass is a great modern gothic horror story. you also might like the jane eyre movie that features michael fassbender and the actress from crimson peak, i quite liked it , having seen several adaptations of that movie it might be my favorite. but it doesnt quite count as modern gothic horror in the modern sense. theres also dracula untold, idk quite if it fits this genre (considering it's also action), but i thought it was good
