MHA chapter 420 rant

New chapter new rant it's become somewhat of a thing at this point 😭

So hori's out here deflating any stakes or tension as always. I personally hated what happend last chapter with Izuku losing both his arms but I did wish for hori to continue on the path he chose instead of completely reversing it with some bs in this chapter. Heck I don't understand how Eri even had enough energy to heal his arms considering it was stated chapters before that she couldn't and shouldn't help Izuku it wasn't her fight and neither should she be forced to watch what's going on but here we are.

Heroes are hypocrites when it comes to Eri and she deserves better. Oh Eri the ever so lasting plot device. As someone that likes Eri's character and wished for her trauma and what she went through to be explored this is just bs and shows that the heroes are incompetent hypocrites at their jobs for allowing Eri to mutilate herself (the same thing overhaul did to himself) so she can be useful to these people who she views as her saviours?!?!?! Let's not even tall about the fact that ECTOPLASM stated that he helped her with that and allowed her to do that like?!?!? You're an adult who is supposed to be supervising the child and you almost failed to stop her from running away into the battlefield but allowed her to do that to herself. Let's also talk about how aizawa horribly failed as a guardian like its clearly stated in the chapter that she did want she did because she was inspired by aizawa and how he cut his leg off so she mimicked him so she can be helpful?!?! Aizawa isn't angry, worried or disappointed but shocked and that's it nothing else he doesn't even reprimand her like seriously 😑.

Present mic and kurogiri deserves better. We still don't know where present mic is but he deserves better than this I still hate how his feelings aren't acknowledged in this bs and he is just there pushed to the side as support. Kurogiri is a mix at this point they seem to realise that oh oboro is dead he ain't coming back but kurogiri is acting on memories that haven't died and to be honest Iam sick of hori drawing the same memory panel over and over we should just get new content show us them play fighting or doing something that friends do idk 🤷‍♀️

Wasted potential aizawa at this point. I lasted made a post about aizawas wasted potential but dam does it really show and basically at this point hori reduced all the characters involved in the kurogiri situation to just that and it's sad like we could of had more and we should of. Aizawa was doomed from the start as he was hori's mouthpiece which sucks

Iam not a fan of everyone coming in to fight AFO. I already hate the fact that AFO is back but having everyone who hasn't had a big moment or can still fight yet come into the fight is horrible. Iam ok with having a few characters come in but having some endgame avengers type of thing is horrible especially because class 1A and izuku aren't shown to have a strong bond a lot of the time it's one of the reasons why the vigilante arc fails and why a lot of other moments concerning class 1A and izuku fail.

Iam a fan of the civilians trying to help however they can but no inko?!?!!?!!. I loved that we got the page of civilians genuinely wanting to help Izuku and offering their shirts to stop the bleeding also even though we don't get much from the all might guy I genuinely loved the development he has gone through. Sadly, I was expecting to see inko in this chapter and considering we had a whole page dedicated to the civilians it's sad that we didn't get any update on inko as she was probably there watching what happend to her son

Eri's dream. I loved that Eri's dream is something way outside of heroics and it's something that doesn't involve her quirk at all. It makes me remember of izuku holding her hand and telling her that he supports her dream. I wonder if Eri and jirou hang out often or anything considering that jirou is Eri's inspiration or if present mic also inspired Eri. it's sad that Eri's character is never truly explored considering what happend to her this chapter and the double standards that are with both heroes and villains.

I feel nrs shits on raiden because ed has a problem with the character personally.

Why? I honestly have no fucking clue.

Raiden isn't that hard to understand so im not understanding the big deal.

We can have him go dark but not liu? Oh yes because he's the special one. I forgot. 🙄😒😑

Everyone else can get at least something that makes them feel believable,even likable and flawed.

Oh but heaven forbid liu kang fucks up.

See this is why hc liu is better. Non god liu kang is better.

But back to raiden.

Why is it. Why is it. Whenever raiden makes a reasonable mistake,that anyone can make.You guys take it so hard?

And villainize him.

But if liu makes a mistake its the end of the world but never do the same. Like all is forgiven and forgotten. Emphasis on the forgotten part. 🙄

If any other characters do reasonably fucked up shit. And have decent character flaws. You guys dont bat an eye.

But raidne does it. Suddenly you shit on him.

He cant win no matter what he does,how you write him. Im starting to think you guys hate raiden because you have unresolved daddy issues,authority issues,or you hate to admit that a godly powerful being cant wipe you ass all the time and you *sarcastic shock!* might actually have to solve the problems yourselves?! Wow what a concept.

Like srsly tho. Raiden isn't infallible. But he isn't a fucking chump loser can't get shit done.

He could get shit done but he has a code of honor,rules he has to follow by(that he hates),he has so much on his plate. And honestly you guys never appreciated his character.

Legit half the crap we got in 12. We could have gotten with raiden if you guys at nrs bothered to fucking write him properly. Because liu kang playing "savior and creator of everything" is disturbing,disgusting,and disrespectful.

You could have actually done something worth a damn but nope. You only care about gimmicks and whatever carries your attention spans for five secs for a quick fix of serotonin because you can't fucking get thru your heads you are being manipulated by a fucking company that lost passion years ago.

I'm so sorry they never gave you the love they should have.

Tobias should sue for your trauma. (Half joking here people. Tobias was the one who created and came up with the idea for raiden in the first place. And layed many foundations for this game but is half heartedly given credit while boon steals (no pun intended) his thunder)

I love Raine, but I hated them as Eda’s love interest. Everything about their relationship felt forced to me, including how much Eda is supposed to love them. I wish they could’ve been introduced earlier possibly and with a more coherent/integrated role.

(But then I wonder if it’s just because they’re a non-binary character and I like the representation. Because without that aspect, the character honestly felt so useless and random.)

Maybe this is just a gripe I have with toh romance in general but like we’re supposed to believe Eda, who is considered King’s mom, would be putting him in danger with the collector just to stare at Raine?? Like come on. The romance in this show is so cringey to me.

It’s like how Luz reunites with everyone after defeating Belos and immediately shares a hug and kiss with Amity before her mom. 😑 like this is her mom who is seeing her for the first time after this whole nightmare and she didn’t even know if she’d be okay. I feel like she should’ve rushed to her and then Amity could’ve stepped in after. I guess honestly I’m just annoyed by the overemphasis on romantic partners in the show tbh. Could just be a personal problem

So there's a lot I can say about romance on this blog (romance writer has a lot to say on romance, shocking) and especially in regards to the genres TOH is in, both positively and mostly negatively. The thing I REALLY want to point out though is the dog shit treatment of Raine and how it truly emphasizes the fundamental problem of not just romantic relationships but ALL relationships in TOH. See, when Raine is introduced, we don't get a lot about their character. We understand that they are the caution to Eda's brashness and that while their caution is obvious, them having stage fright is actually a great way for Eda to have a way of breaking them out of their shell. Something her enthusiasm, especially as a child, could be useful.

And then we gets Falls and Follies where their stage fright is... Still their main character trait. And then we get Them's the Breaks Kid.

And suddenly, Raine isn't Raine. Now yes, kids can change as they grow up but stage fright is a fairly unique malady. It's not specifically social anxiety and it's not a phobia. It's genuinely about stepping on stage and freezing. That terror of performance. My drama director in High School said that she'd helped a lot of kids with it and the right course of actions were always repetition and exposure. That usually the lines came so naturally and their base confidence was so high that a successful dress rehearsal would make sure they didn't freeze come opening night.

It is something that fades with experience. And in Falls and Follies, Raine might still be the level head to Eda's rowdy behavior, but in the worst way. They're not the nervous kid who overthinks things and needs to be reminded to breathe but instead the smart, grade A kid who is so popular and so above everyone that they're bored by all the 'normies'. Edalyn is interesting in that she stands out, as well as being the strongest. Their is never even a hint of fear or nervousness in them.

This comes to its worst part in the moment that is supposed to tell everyone the two are destined for each other. The moment that the fandom was supposed to immortalize like the major Lumity moments. The moment Eda tries to bean Raine with a ball and Raine, unlike Lilith, catches it not just easily but with flair.

Or in other words, catches it just like Eda would. The moment that I think a lot of people, myself included, started realizing that Raine was just a love interest, just like Amity and then Willow for Hunter, instead of anything even resembling a character. After all, they spend this entire episode showing that they are a clone to Eda. Period.

It actually gets worse as the motivation to protect their loved ones is also an Eda one and they both do it in the same way by just trying not to include them and put distance between them. Their methods, ideologies, etc. like that are literally lock step with one another, just like Amity changes hers to be and Hunter ends up becoming like alongside Willow and Luz. A lot of people point this at as growth for the characters but I still argue that dissolving your own personality for your partner is not a good thing.

And do you want to know how much the writers KNEW Them's the Breaks was a mistake? Just a blatantly wrong choice to make? Well, see, Falls and Follies eventually came out with a second version of the episode with annotations. Little tidbits about the show and lore of the universe. I don't know really any of those tidbits except one, and that this WAS released after Falls and Follies.

"Raine developed stage fright during a production of the Isles version of Romeo and Juliet that they performed with Eda."

That's not word for word, I'm not looking this up for that, but that is what it summarized to. Or, in other words, they went back and had to retcon in stage fright for Raine. Stage fright they developed WITH the person who's dynamic with them should be to bring them out of their shell with.

The worst part? They probably don't see the contradiction. They instead likely went "We made a plothole in Them's the Breaks. What can we do this for shipping fodder?" And then someone else shouted, "MAKE IT SO RAINE GOT STAGE FRIGHT BECAUSE OF A PLAY THAT MADE THEM KISS EDA!"

Now no, that's not explicitly stated but besides just being lazy and referencing Romeo and Juliet (they did have a special name for it), that's the main reason I can imagine for that play causing that specific reaction. And if this sort of inconsistency was in a piece of fanfic or a person's personal webcomic and they just admitted to wanting the cute shipping moments, like Yoko Taro saying 2B is a beautiful woman because he likes pretty girls in his games, I would be more okay with it. In a show that is touted as so progressive, having such perfect representation, some of the best romances in television history, etc. etc...

Well, my response is that I guess there's a reason so many straight people have to deal with bland, inconsistent love interests if that's what nonbinaries and lesbians want too.

It's genuinely shocking how angry people are getting about kookmin enlisting together. Like, if everyone saw them as just friends, this wouldn't bother them, right? They have to see something, or else them being together continuously for 18 months wouldn't bother them, right? If Tae and Jimin used the companion system, everyone would think it was sweet and would play it off as vmin being soulmates. If V and Jk used the companion system, the cult would say this was them rebelling against the company, and the rest of the fandom would talk how much they loved eachother (I'm not downplaying any of the bts members bonds, btw). Wasn't it just a couple of days ago that tkkers were talking about how they wanted tkk to enlist together, but since jkk have chosen to enlist together the idea of a queer couple being in the south korean military together is absurd. The narratives always change depending on the current circumstances.

I'm a newer fan, but to be completely honest, taekook has never really stood out to me. I mean, if I wasn't so fixated of jkk, I'd probably ship vmin. But taekook never really jumped out to me. If Tae and Jk acted like how jikook act, even vmin, I'd be more drawn to them, but they just don't 🤷🏽‍♀️. Again, I'm not down playing their bond, I just never jumped on the "tkk train". I've really never understood how people ship them romantically, and I never will, but to each his own, ig.

i was apart of a group chat full of fans of sam and colby, and as the more days went by, the more these fans were expressing their hatred for k and m (they're the same accounts that are attempting to "expose" the girls) and it just got really vile. lots of lies were being told. i got kicked from the group chat this morning because they know i like the girls and have been defending them lately. what's weird is i'm pretty sure the person who created that group chat in the first place loves colby and m, but lets all these people talk crap (especially about colby). i could be wrong, but if i'm not, the account has like- thousands of followers..

idk where this gc was, but i'm gonna take a wild guess and say twitter. or at the very least, ppl in there also have twitter accounts.

i'm telling you, that side of the fandom is beyond toxic, and i don't use that term lightly. the vitriol they have for katelyn and malia is gross and uncalled for.

but this also goes for any of their haters, not just the ones on twitter.

what gets me is how genuinely EASY it is to ignore those girls if you truly hate them. like i follow them and even have their tiktok notifs on, and i still don't pay attention to them lol

so i cannot imagine hating someone so much and then paying this much mind to them, and thinking somehow you're in the right and totally not obsessed with them. at least be honest with yourself.

and the misinformation… dear god don't get me started. it's not just straight up lies either, it's half truths mixed with twisting things around to make it appear worse than it is. the energy these ppl waste on these girls…. they could have cured cancer by now lol

and a big account being an asshole secretly (but probably also not)???? ….unheard of. i'm shocked. 😑

fans love to have their cake and eat it too. they want to be able to shit on snc, but then also pray secretly that they get noticed by them too with their fake kiss ass tweets/posts to them. at the very least be a bitch with your whole chest lol

and sorry you got kicked for defending the girls. but in the long run it's better that way. they wouldn't listen to you regardless. that's how deep their hate runs, for some reason.

Hi so this is the continuation of Childe's part of my mini series featuring genshin boys as your protective brother, and how they react when they meet your s/o. I hope you enjoy! Also requests are always open!

Pt.2 of Childe

Ajax exe. has stopped working. Who in the HELL has the nerve to kiss his sibling! Well he's about to find out. He starts stomping over ready to give this person a piece of his mind when something even MORE shocking happened you kissed them BACK, now he really stops in place for a second before he almost seems to teleport in front of you and pushes you two apart

To say you were shocked was an understatement, you were so startled you almost choked!

AJAX?! What are you doing here?!

Your shock quickly turned to panic when you saw your brothers steel gaze that looked downright murderous towards your s/o

Ajax decided to ignore you for the moment his attention was on your s/o who to their credit was calm and didn't look scared at all...yet at least Ajax thought

Your s/o as calm as they were, they were visibly confused and they made their confusion known as they asked "who are you?"

You were nervous and you got even more nervous when Ajax smiled, now to anyone who didn't know him it looked genuine, but to you who had known your beloved older brother your whole life you knew it was forced, fake, and cold. It was the stare he gave to enemies

"Who am I?!" Ajax was getting increasingly more upset, "I'm their older brother!" He said as he glared

Your s/o finally showed signs of being nervous and they visibly paled, wait...was this the overprotective brother you mentioned that you had the closest relationship to out of all your siblings and who had practically raised you, and hated anyone who he deemed to be a threat to you?!

You decide that you might want to intervene before Ajax caused anymore of a scene, his raised voice had attracted the eyes and attention of nearby customers, you quickly pulled your brother with you as you excused yourself and told your s/o you would be back in a moment

Ajax was protesting as you dragged him away from your s/o and to the back of the restaurant where you could explain, he glared at your s/o as he was dragged😅

He stood there with his eyebrow raised and a look that practically screamed want to tell me what the HELL is going on?!

You sighed and admonished yourself silently for trying to hide something from him, as well as being protective he was very nosy😑

You took a deep breath and said "Ajax the person you just saw in there is my s/o"

His reaction wasn't as bad as you imagined to your relief, but then again he had just saw you kiss, he might be a little oblivious but he isn't stupid

He just stared at you for a minute and just as you thought he might be okay with it you were proven wrong (ofc you were you thought🥲🙄) "you're not seeing them" he said as he grabbed your wrist and tried to pull you with him

To his surprise YET AGAIN (this day was definitely becoming just full of surprises wasn't it?) you pulled your wrist away and said " No Ajax I really like them and as much as I love you, you have to let me make my own decisions for my life! I know you're just worried but you need to trust me!"

He paused, he didn't want you to think he didn't want you to think he didn't trust you but he didn't want to except that you were growing up fast and that you wouldn't always have just him in your heart, he would have to share 😃😭

He just sighed he realized that he had to let you grow on your own, but hey that doesn't mean he can't still look out for you! He always will no matter what, he doesn't trust this person, but if they make you happy he'll give them a chance *sigh*

Ajax looked at you and said "okay you can date them but if they ever and I mean EVER hurt you, you tell me okay?

You couldn't believe it! He actually agreed?! You nodded your head excitedly and with the biggest smile hugged your brother tight!

"Don't worry Ajax" you said "I'll always love you, your my big brother and my best friend you'll always be first in my heart"

Poor boy MELTED he couldn't believe his little sibling was growing up so fast 😭 he would miss you when you really grew up and went out on your own in the world

But he would always be there for you, you and his family come first in his heart, always, so no matter where you are you can always count on big brother Ajax

The two of you will look out for each other and keep each other happy like always :)

What did you think of Allison this season? While I did like the idea of her burning out and just going crazy with her powers the execution was not it. Like I know they were trying to incorporate her comic self but in a show which barely uses the comics the fact they chose the sa out of all things to adapt is so 😑

allison was really just spiralling in the messiest way which sure is what spiralling is all about but it was so hard to sympathise because of how cruel she was and this cruelty wasn't even a departure from her usual self bc this show has always made allison the most verbally aggressive (and not in a fun/funny way like five's constant jabs) because of the writers misogynoir (they tried to pretend this season that she hasn't always been written like this but. footage not found!) and yeah I was SO shocked they did the assault scene. it exists in the comics as an isolated vignette i Guess to show how fucked up they've all become but I think it was unnecessary then and is unnecessary now in this show. of course i am not saying this because I condone what she did but it's just so unfair of the writers to do this to the shows only black woman character (and the only black character to last more than a season 😑) because she is NOT coming back from that.

speaking of which it was sooooo dirty of the writers to finally acknowledge how allison and diego as the siblings of colour have been treated differently (of course allison was subjected to period-accurate racial trauma last season but nothing mentioned about diego and lila other than the unspoken implication of their institutionalisation because again. antiblackness. sadism.) only for diego to manifest his solidarity by? taking her to hatecrime fight club??? genuinely cannot tell if the writers intended the scene with them beating up racists as empowering or what. was diego doing that and calling it awesome while white boy luther expresses his earnest concern supposed to show us that diego 'gets it' or that he, her only living sibling of colour, is irresponsibly helping allison off the rails?? it just tastes bad!!!!

also on a less serious but connected note. perhaps it's because i've also been watching the lazarus project where a similar thing is done and executed wayyy better but making all of allison's bad actions the result of losing her daughter because of the time travel was not the move... this show has always explored themes of parenthood but allison's suffering alongside lila's (also rather sexist) pregnancy conundrum plotline has made this the weakest season for woc representation.

and then she/we went through ALL THAT for (my theory) reggie to shove allison in a hotel oblivion room to live out her delusions of family happiness because it could never exist for her in the real world. my guess if they get another season is she's gonna be put on ice for at least half of it while the siblings work to get her out but because of all the character assassination this season no one is going to want root for her anddddd. it just sucks. I'm so mad. this show is collapsing in on itself in every sense.

The comment Lavinet makes, on her day off, about Chase make me laugh when I remembered your post about original ideas for characters. I also laughed at the comment Riel makes about the potion. I couldn't help but think my MC Soile making a comment herself about (ex) Red and how Riel "would be shocked to know that there is someone they know who would drink it".

here's a rough snippet from the bull/yuo fic. it's the scene where dorian has found out yuo and bull are hooking up; it coincides with chapter 22 of the main fic

it's very unpolished - and also unfinished - becuz i wrote that chapter waayyy before i conceptualized this fic, and it's a lot trickier than i expected, having to write that scene from bull's perspective with all this added context i've established 😑 so we'll have to see how that goes

“I suppose I ought to offer congratulations.” Dorian glowers into his drink

Well. The Bull saw this coming, didn’t he? He never figured out how to bring it up to Lavellan, so this is what he gets.

This isn’t the explosion, oh no. Dorian playing the jilted lover isn’t an explosion. But it’s the lit fuse, all right.

Lavellan is still unconscious in the Bull’s bed. Dorian knows, but Lavellan likely doesn’t know he knows. The Bull wonders if it would be worth it to wheedle a weeks-long assignment away from Skyhold off Red.

At the very least, perhaps he can mitigate some of the potential fallout. “It’s not what you think, Dorian.”

“Oh, am I wrong?” There’s genuine venom in Dorian’s words now. “Because I have it on rather good authority that the Inquisitor has been visiting your quarters lately.”

The boss was discreet, at first, but he’s gotten careless about it. It’s not implausible that it was unconsciously intentional on Lavellan’s part. Unable to bring himself to confront Dorian, he would have Dorian bring the confrontation to him.

The Bull sips his ale. He can do nothing but admit to it.

“Hence my congratulations.” Dorian’s gritting his perfect teeth so hard he’s at risk of cracking them.

The Bull rolls his eye. “Oh come on, Dorian. You think the boss fucks me ‘cause he’s in love with me? That he wants a relationship with me?” He won’t betray Lavellan’s confidence, but for fuck’s sake, he isn’t being paid enough for this. “The boss has had a lot on his plate. Sometimes he needs to forget about it for a while, work out the stress. Anyone with eyes in their head can see the chemistry between you two. He came to me because he knew I wouldn’t make it complicated.”

“Whereas I make everything complicated.”

The Bull sighs. “Well, you have to know that you do.”

“Because I’m human.”

“That’s part of it.”

“And Tevinter.”

“That’s another part.”

“What else is there?”

“Well.” The Bull considers. Better to keep confidence or keep the Inquisitor’s favorite from drowning himself in ale? “Not all of the parts are on your end.”

Dorian blinks at him. The Bull’s words have momentarily shocked the bitterness out of him. “Has he talked to you about this?”

The Bull almost laughs in his face. The boss? Talking? About his feelings? He’s going to have to tell that one to Blackwall.

He holds up his empty tankard for Cabot to refill. “You know he’s not much for talking about personal things.” The Bull snorts. Understatement of the age. “But he doesn’t have to.”

That brings Dorian’s sour mood right back. “Because you’re a ‘people person’,” he sneers.

That’s some impressive jealously Dorian’s been fermenting there. The Bull wonders if it would solve anything to lock the pair of them in a closet. “He has his tells,” the Bull muses. “And I pay attention. I know how to put two and two together.”

He means it as advice, but Dorian deflates. Maybe it’s too hard to see a person beyond one’s own feelings.

I've inadvertently been on yrtwt recently and god do I hate them!

They make 'joke' tweets and end up spreading misinfo because people who aren't mutuals of theirs aren't in the know and suddenly things get misrepresented. None of these jokes are funny. Calling Edvin a nepo baby, constantly posting a lgbt flag gif with edvin text implying his sexuality when he hasn't disclosed it and it's private to him, I've even seen 'E is so homophobic for this' as a reaction to something and it's about something unrelated and stupid like Edvin cutting his hair 😑 or make a reference to edmar in a shipping sense and when people, completely understandably, misunderstand and push back saying it's inappropriate or incorrect info they really with "it's a joke 😭"

It's not a joke it's harmful. Jokes like that are half the reason why half the fandom though E & O fell out and hated each other around October time.

Also how strongly they reacted to the Nikita live (purposefully misinterpreting what she said and calling her lesbiphobic) and the new NN video was highly immature.

About how wille did nothing wrong, never overstepped Simon's boundaries in season 2 and was never manipulative (I personally saw him saying 'youre the only one I can talk to here' as a way to get simon by his side again) and was selfish. I genuinely think to myself if we watched the same show sometimes.

Wille has done wrong and was selfish and did over step his boundaries with Simon during season 2 (such as looked at his phone and I think touched his leg at one point without permission early on) at points ffs.

Edvin probs had a harder time with wille actions because *shock horror* Edvin is a completely different person, from wille and also us. People are different and go about situations in different ways and react in different ways. As a result some will have a harder time with a characters actions than others. It's called being a nuanced character

Sorry this got long but I had to say this to someone.

I mean twitter is twitter. Very reactionary, and very black and white when it comes to discussions which I no longer have an interest in.

It's also hard when you only have written communication because jokes are hard to interpret.

Ah not really. Whatever time i have when im not working, id rather spend drawing either for fun or my commissions. Although i do love creepy and macabre stuff, im not a big fan of horror movies. A lot of them are more about either shocking viewers and being as gorey and torture porn-y as possible, which isn't really my thing. Tho there are some horror movies out there i quite liked, I prefer to watch compilation videos of ghosts caught on camera and stuff if im in the mood for something spooky.

The SGE movie's pretty good for someone like me who hasn't read the books. My brother and I actually had tons of fun until all the confusing qb(and the whole thing with Rafal and Sophie. Barf). Like, if the filmmakers knew Agatha and Sophie were sisters then why have them kiss on the lips?? Unless they plan on retconning that since i hear that was only revealed at a later book...

Omg thank you! Ive mentioned it before but I'm not as confident with my writing as i am with my art, so compliments regarding my fics are always super appreciated. I'll consider continuing to write it, if there's still more i can squeeze out of me.
