HOW TO DETERMINE UR SKIN TYPE ;
wash ur face with a gentle cleanser, pat dry and wait for about 30 minutes. if ur skin appears shiny throughout then u have oily skin, if ur skin appears tight/flaky then u have dry skin.
if u notice a slight shine on your nose and forehead then you have normal skin. if you have a combination skin type, then the skin will get oily around the t-zone.
INGREDIENTS TO LOOK FOR ;
for skin with acne -> salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur and mandelic acid.
for dry skin -> lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, ceramides and glycerin.
for pigmented skin -> mandelic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C, and arbutin.
INGREDIENTS THAT U SHOULD NOT MIX ;
mixing retinol and vitamin C causes irritation, mixing vitamin C and glycolic acid results in over-exfoliation, mixing AHA and retinol causes extreme dryness.
INGREDIENTS THAT U SHOULD MIX ;
hyaluronic acid + ceramides = repairing skin barrier. niacinimide + salicylic acid = healing acne. retinol + niacinimide = collagen production.
GLOWY SKIN TIPS ;
use a cleansing balm to cleanse ur face to remove all the impurities from ur skin
use serums to hydrate ur skin
lather on moisturizer, dont put too much to the point where ur skin cannot produce its own oils, but you MUST moisturize
apply sunscreen everyday, not only on ur face but also on ur neck and hands
face masks 1-2x a week
get enough sleep, drink enough water, and steer clear of overly processed foods
SKINCARE DOESNT STOP AT UR CHIN ;
its important to take care of the skin on ur neck for SO many reasons because skincare doesnt stop at ur chin. ur neck reflects the first signs of aging, and its most susceptible to sun damage so show it some love!
use the same products that u use on ur face on ur neck also, moisturize ur neck and always apply sunscreen, lastly, use some retinol to build collagen.
HOW TO APPLY RETINOL ;
when applying retinol, use a pea sized amount. avoid application around ur eyes and the openings in ur nose, and use retinol in ur night skincare routine only.
HOW OFTEN TO USE SKINCARE ;
retinol should be used nightly (1-2x a week for beginners). hyaluronic acid should be used (2x a day). salicylic acid should be used (1-2x a week). sunscreen should be applied daily, no need to apply it at night and if u can, you should reapply it every 2-3 hours. vitamin C (1x a day in the morning).
SERUMS FOR UR SKIN-TYPE ;
for oily skin use -> salicylic acid, niacinimide and mandelic acid.
for dry skin use -> hyaluronic acid, ceramides and lactic acid.
for normal skin use -> vitamin C, glycolic acid, and retinol.
for aging skin use -> peptides, retinol and vitamin C.
for acne prone skin use -> salicylic acid, retinol, and niacinimde.
for combination skin use -> mandelic acid, niacinimide, and glycolic acid.
WHAT TYPE OF FACEMASK IS BEST FOR YOU ;
cream masks are good for all skin-types and it soothes and moisturizes. clay masks are good for oily or acne prone skin and it absorbs oil and controls shine. charcoal masks are good for oily or acne prone skin, and it deep cleanses and unclogs.
sheet masks are good for all skin-types, it nourishes and hydrates. enzyme masks are good for all skin-types and it gently exfoliates and brightens the skin. bubble masks are good for all skin-types and it hydrates and soothes.
gel masks are good for all skin-types and it provides a cooling effect. exfoliating masks are good for all skin-types BUT if u have sensitive skin then exfoliating masks are not for you. exfoliating masks remove dead skin cells and debris.
HOW TO LAYER UR SKINCARE ;
in the morning (cleanser + toner + hydrating serum + vitamin c + moisturizer + sunscreen) in the evening (double cleanse + toner + hydrating serum + retinol + moisturizer)

Hi! Do you have an easy peasy guide to skincare and hygiene for depressed dummies? 😃
Hi love! Sharing a high-level, basic skincare routine and hygiene tips to follow:
Morning Skincare:
Gentle facial cleanser & water
Vitamin C serum + hyaluronic acid
Facial moisturizer
Sunscreen designed for your face (at least SPF 50 – I think that this La Roche Posay SPF 60 choice is the best option for the money)
Apply sunscreen to your hands, neck, and any parts that will be exposed to the sun (Don't forget to use an SPF lip balm, too!)
Nighttime Skincare:
Remove any makeup (I love these Simple makeup wipes!)
Gentle cleanser
Toner/serums (only use AHAs like glycolic acid or lactic acid and retinol/retinoids at night, using them during the day can increase chances of sunburning)
Facial moisturizer (can be heavier than the one you use during the day, especially in the winter or if you have dry skin)
Spot treatments (if needed)
Eye cream
Skincare Extras:
Exfoliate your face 2-3 times/week (I love the First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads but the CeraVe Renewing Salicylic Acid Cleanser is a great drugstore option!)
Always use disposable cloths instead of a regular towel on your face to reduce bacteria, breakouts, or infections (I love the Clean Skin Club ones!)
Exfoliate your body 2-3 times a week using a dry brush or a scrub (I love the CeraVe Salicylic Acid Body Cleanser, but my favorite is the OUAI Sugar Scrub) and follow it up with a hydrating body moisturizer
Always exfoliate and moisturize before shaving, waxing, or other body hair removal treatments (look up the timeframes for the type of hair removal you choose)
Scrub under your nails daily with antibacterial soap & water and a nail brush
Vaseline is a versatile staple item that can be used as an affordable alternative to an eye cream, cuticle oil, lip balm, or hand cream, and can be used to treat any dry, cracked, or rough patches on the skin
Use a hand lotion and moisturizer on your feet with socks every night before bed
Aloe vera and coconut oil are great skincare staples to keep on hand to soothe burns, irritation, or inflamed skin
Haircare Tips:
Shampoo your skull, condition the rest: Focus shampoo on your roots and work it through your scalp; concentrate conditioner on the ends and work your way up until you reach the base of your skull - around your upper ear lobe
Always comb, never brush, your hair when wet: Gently use a wide-tooth comb, from root to tip, on wet hair to prevent breakage
Use a special towel to dry your hair: My favorite is from Crown Affair (pricey for what it is but worthwhile in the long-term), but a Turbie Twist from the drugstore works infinitely better than a regular towel that weighs down and causes frizzy, damaged hair
Always use a heat protection spray before blow drying or straightening/curling your hair: (Briogeo and Oribe products are my love for all haircare products, including their blowdry creams – also love R +Co. for a heat protection styling mist)
Choose your hair ties wisely: Use seamless or silk hair ties exclusively to prevent breakage or awkward creases on your hair. Wear a silk scrunchie if you prefer. These hair ties from Amazon are my holy grail (only $7 for 100 hair ties!), and they come in a portable ziplock bag
Use dryer sheets to minimize hair frizz and water or Vaseline to slick back fly-aways
Other Hygiene Tips:
Brush teeth, floss, & skincare (2x/day); Get a water pick, too, if you can!
Use a toothbrush cover at all times; Close the toilet seat before flushing
Wash your body towels at least once a week
Wash your pillowcases weekly and sheets at least once every 2 weeks
Throw out and replace your mascara every 2-3 months
Change your underwear and socks daily or more after sweating/working out
For those who menstruate, change your pad or tampon every 3-4 hours
Vulva owners: Use a fragrance-free soap on the outside, only water to clean the inside – no fancy wipes or douching. Wipe front to back!
Wear cotton underwear whenever possible; Find a fabric that breathes
Have a similar buttocks cleansing routine that you do for your face to prevent embarrassing zits or acne
Don't shave between waxes; Use tweezers if necessary a few days after your hair removal treatment
Always wash your hands before touching your face
Hope this helps xx

nothing to do with your writing but your skin looks so healthy 😍 ... what's the secret
OK, I'm literally going to cry because I've been struggling with cystic and hormonal acne since 2020! And every since then I feel so self-conscious about my skin and have just recently (maybe close to a year now) haven't had any cystic type breakouts. I'll post my products & pics at the end, no one has seen these pictures btw because I just feel so embarrassed! I only took them for my doctor! But anywho, here's what's been working for me the past couple years!
Consistency is key! I never miss my cleansing/skin care routine. No matter how tired, drunk, upset I am. I do it. With that being said, a simple routine will help you commit to it:)
African Black Soap - when I first started using this I bought that "fake" one from target. I believe shea moisture makes it? But literally after a month or so I started to see a big reduction in my break outs. I recently switched over to the authentic one. I literally bought it in a little natural remedies shop in the DTLA Alley outlets district for $10. The only advice I was given was to not apply the soap directly on my skin. So I use a little cleaning tool instead of my hands (which is how i used the target one)
Double cleansing - According to the internet derms this is a scam, but I personally started to notice the biggest change in my skin when I stopped using makeup wipes and started to double cleanse with a makeup balm. I wear full face makeup every single day basically and balms are by far the best way to get it all off. I rinse the balm off with luke warm water, cleanse with my soap, and then rinse with cold water. Cold water rinsing is also life changing.
Derma-planing & exfoliating! I certainly used to over exfoliate before, maybe did this like once a week with a face scrub. Now I've minimized this to about a once a month thing. I'll gently exfoliate with a little face sponge & my soap & then derma-plane with the suds still on my skin.
Face Masking - These masks changed my life. I will only use hydration sheet masks from a Japanese brand (2x a month) and then if I start getting breakouts really frequently I use a Lush mask called cosmetic warrior once every night for about 10 days.
Water & veggies - this is pretty self explanatory. But increasing my water and vegetable intake has also helped give my skin the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.
Better hygiene habits - I've gotten into the habit of washing my pillow cases every week. And am trying to implement more frequent makeup tool washes. Right now I clean my beauty blender after each use, but my brushes about once a month, which I'm not sure if that's too little lol, but I feel like I could do it more haha
No scented products - I've found that scented products irritate my skin a lot. Even if they didn't they have tons of additional chemicals that don't serve a purpose, so better to keep it bland.
And lastly, it's important to remember that everyone's skin is different. Medicated things & pills didn't work for me in the slightest like they do for some people. And there was a lot of trial and error and mixing and match products before I found a routine that worked and helped my skin heal. So just pay attention to how your skin reacts to things and do a little research on what type of acne you have and what products can help with that:) Now products I use...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, this was me in 2021... It was painful and uncomfortable and just so shameful for me. I had never had acne before! I got acne as an adult after they switch my BC:(
Tumblr media
And this is me as of tonight! Obvs I'll still get spots every now and again but I haven't gotten anything like the pics above since I made the changes to my skincare routine:)
Tumblr media
I hope this helps someone 🫶

It seems like you know a lot about skin care. I'm 28 now and honestly dont really bother with it (except to take off make up and using sunscreen). I'm 28 now and feel like my skin's fine but wonder if there's stuff it actually needs. With skincare being such a huge industry it's hard to understand what ingredients skin actually needs bc I feel companies (& influencers) try to sell you a lot of shit you don't need and maybe even makes your skin worse. Any tips where to start? Thank u
Hey friend! I love helping newbies. I absolutely do have tips. And a two-product two-step regimen. You can get it for under $40 and it should last you 6 months or more.
Tumblr media
First off, there is ABSOLUTELY a ton of shit you don’t need. That is a good instinct. You can always pay more for a product and you can always add more steps to your routine, but that doesn’t mean that you’re actually getting more out of it. The first thing you should ask yourself is, what do you want out of your skincare?
SUNSCREEN: For someone who isn’t sure what they want or what they should do, my first question is how much time you spend in the sun. The one thing you can do to really permanently damage your skin is to spend a lot of time in the sun without any sunscreen. Basically: blah blah rays of sun blah blah destroys the collagen, aka squishy bouncy bonds between cells, blah blah, destroyed collagen means the skin sags more, meaning wrinkles.
(It is also, I hope I don’t need to say, dangerous for Cancer Reasons to get a ton of non-screened sun exposure. But I’m assuming that’s a given here.)
Like I said in the last post, southeast Asian sunscreen options are a huge improvement on what you find on the shelves here in the States because they have more stringent laws on what chemicals are okay to put in a product. But if you stick with what you can grab at CVS, that’s fine too - just make sure you google the brand and type and make sure the SPF is for real. (Some products marketed at, say, SPF 45 are actually proven to only be SPF 15. It’s like the olive oil bullshit all over again!)
There are also a lot of moisturizers available with SPF protection in them.
WHICH LEADS ME TO MY AMAZING TWO-STEP SYSTEMMMMM...
CLEANSE AND MOISTURIZE: There are seven-step processes out there, but what you really need to start with, and will get a ton out of if you aren’t doing anything right now, is cleansing and moisturizing.
The science explanation for doing this: blah blah your skin generates oils from your pores in order to create a protective barrier between your flesh and the elements, but said oils can get gunky once they’ve accumulated all the particulates from the air, and there can even be backups and miscommunications and over-oilage if you have dead skin cells sitting on top of your new skin, or stuff gets all the way into your pores, blocking the system, causing breakouts. So skincare is about removing everything on top of your skin, maybe adding fancy stuff in the middle, but absolutely creating a new barrier for your skin at the end, to replace the one you took off. I liken it to varnish on a painting - it’s meant to sit on top, collect all the dust, and get removed and replaced over time. But don’t just wash your face every 20-80 years. The metaphor only goes so far. Anyway.
Here is how to get into my absolutely bare minimum regimen:
PICK A CLEANSER: If you wear/remove makeup a lot, and/or have a very oily complexion, pick an oil-based cleanser. Oil-based means it’s good at removing makeuppy things  and your natural oil. Otherwise, pick a water-based cleanser. CeraVe cleansers are available at Walgreens and they are affordable. It is available, affordable, clinically gentle on various skin types, and by god, it does indeed wash all the shit off your face.I have tried a lot of expensive water-based cleansers and I still come back to this one. That $16 pump bottle will last you a long time, too.
PICK A MOISTURIZER:  I’m back on my CeraVe shit here because if you’re overwhelmed and don’t know what to pick, I’m gonna push you to the easy-to-pay-for, easy-to-find product that won’t make you break out. And it’s got SPF! If you want to get fancier, check out some options here. I currently use Laneige moisturizers, which are at Sephora and... other places. Idk. (And to repeat my last post: if you can’t stand having things sitting on your skin, even a moisturizer that will absorb over a minute or so, Laneige Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer essentially feels like water.)
SHOWER STEP: You have both your products. Now. Put your cleanser in your shower. When you shower, use it to wash your face. In the shower, you can splash and splash to your heart’s content. Get your neck, your cleavage, any extra places you feel have an oiliness problem. But remember them for later, because you want to moisturize all spots you cleansed. (Also, if you’ve been using soap or anything else to wash your face up until now... stop that. Cleanser is much better.)
AFTER SHOWER STEP: Dry off and pat on that moisturizer. Make sure you apply it with clean hands. Rub it in gently and make sure all cleansed areas are now moisturized.
That’s it.
No, really, that’s my advice for beginners. Two products, one done in the shower. You have to do them in order. That’s it.
If you have the spoons to do this routine twice a day, around when you get up and right before bed, you’ll get even better results. But if you’re just starting out and get anxious about new routines, don’t sweat it. Your face’s cells turn over every 30 days or so, so if you keep this up every day for about two weeks, you’ll start seeing improvements by then.
Bonus newb tips:
About once a week, use a COMPLETELY CLEAN terrycloth washcloth to apply your cleanser. Get your (gentle) scrub on. Mechanical exfoliation basically means you’re using a brush, a cloth, something physical to remove everything from your face, including things like dead skin, which gentle cleansing may not have gotten. Doing it too often isn’t helpful, as you can only build up so much stuff to remove over time, and scrubbing too hard or too frequently can lead to frightening your skin, causing redness. So once a week is likely plenty. If you like the battery-operated brushes, go for it, but they cost way more than the clean washcloth.
You will see options for chemical exfoliation too. If you identify as a newb, I don’t recommend this. Chemical exfoliations aren’t bad per se, but are one of the few skincare things that can be done wrong, and in a way that can really upset your skin. Washcloth!
Are you replacing your pillowcases on a regular basis? I try to do once a week but I probably end up with closer to two weeks. Nobody’s perfect. But remembering to do this is a very easy way to help your skin out.
If you get your cleanse-and-moisturize routine down pat, 2x a day, and you want the next step, look into toners. They help your skin absorb the moisturizer more efficiently... science reasons. The toner goes on before the moisturizer, but again, your skin should be dry before you start.
There are ampoules, essences, treatments, and other fancy names for... very specific shit. Basically, if you have a specific problem, especially in a specific area of your face, chances are there is a specific tiny expensive bottle you can integrate into the middle of your routine to help with that. But there is a lot of snake oil out there and I don’t want anybody buying these solutions if they aren’t already managing the daily wash-and-protect, because you’d be surprised how many things that can fix.
If you have problems with breakouts or other bad reactions to some skin products, do your best to only introduce one new product at a time. That way if you start having a reaction, you don’t have to guess what caused it.
No matter what is or isn’t going on with your skin, your worth is not affected one iota. Whether I have three pimples and incredible redness around my cheekbone and nose area, making me look like a character mug of a drunken sailor, or whether or my skin is the cool, poreless ivory of Grecian marble, I am still the exact same perfect bitch. And so are you.

All about pores & how to minimize their appearance
We all have pores, and sometimes these pores can get clogged with oil & debris. No matter how hard you “scrub” or how clean your face is, pores are stubborn when it comes to how to extract out that build up. I’ve talked about the wonders of chemical exfoliants, these can help unclog your pores. I’d stay FAR AWAY for a pore/nose strip, as these can cause more damage to your hair follicles than they do any good. The way pores appear are solely based on genetics. Unlike the myth of pores being able to shrink in size, avoid any product that garuntees reducing the size of your pores. What products can do for your pores is instead minimize their appearance by getting rid of the dirt, oil and debris built up.
Important facts to know about pores:
Pores are indeed the opening to your hair follicles.
Excessive cleaning can actually cause your pores to produce more oil & buildup.
Regular cleansing can minimize their appearance, but without products with chemical exfoliants in them added to your routine, cleansing can only do the minimum.
Your pore appearance is based off of your genetics. Their size can never increase or decrease.
Environmental factors, dry skin, aging, acne and oil can make your pores APPEAR bigger.
Important tips to minimize pore appearance:
Cleanse your skin 1-2x daily in order to remove any makeup oil or dirt that has built up on your skin through the day.
Choose the right products for your skin type such as non-comedogenic skincare & makeup (won’t clog pores).
Exfoliate 1-3x a week to remove dead skin cells & help unclog pores. Don’t overexfoliate your skin! stay away from face scrubs!
Make sure you’re applying your SPF everyday, UVA damage not only ages your skin quicker but it ages your skin by breaking down your collagen & can cause your pores to appear saggy.
Always be mindful of what products you’re using on your skin. Always read directions and ingredients to make sure you’re using something that your skin will react good with. Also be mindful of what products are safe to use in the day vs. the night, since some products can cause irritation when exposed to sunlight.
My Recommendations for products that will minimize the appearance of your pores;
Obagi Pore Therapy Toner : contains 2% salicylic acid
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha-Beta Pore Cleansing Gel : A non-stripping cleanser that gently tones & exfoliates the skin.
PCA Skin Pore Refining Treatment: Contains natural enzymes to break down oil and debris from the skin. Can be used 1-2 times weekly.
SkinCeuticals Micro-Exfoliating Scrub: DISCLAIMER- DO NOT USE OVER ANY ACTIVE ACNE!! Perfect for people who like the feel of a scrub but don’t want to damage their skin. I’d use this 1-2 times every other week. Perfect for normal-dry-oily
Invest in your skincare 1 product at a time. I promise you your at home care will visibly do wonders for your skin just give it time. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask! I love talking skin 😇 happy holidays to all!

hi so the other day i decided to use the innisfree super volcanic pore clay mask 2x and while i was waiting i looked up its ingredients for fun (as you do) but i was HORRIFIED to see Juglans Regia (Walnut) Shell Powder on the list, which is what that kylie walnut scrub has (though it’s the 1st ingredient in kylie and 13th in innisfree). and now i am all sorts of shaken... is the walnut shell not as harmful in this formula or is it unforgivable no matter what?
well, there are a few things that affect whether or not a physical scrub is too harsh. in the case of walnut shells, it depends mostly on how finely milled the powder is: the finer it is, the less harsh angles and cutting edges that can damage the skin it will have. if it feels at all coarse or rough it’s not great. the quantity, as indicated by the position on the ingredient list, is also somewhat relevant, but even a couple of granules can do damage if they’re too edgy. ultimately, the best way to assess how rough or fine a scrub is is to gently apply it on your face and feel it. always err on the edge of caution, and whenever you physically exfoliate always do it sparingly (no more than once a week, i would say) and with very light pressure. no need to go all in and scrub your face off with the zeal of a 19th century butler polishing the family’s best silver for half an hour! this - and not just the scrubbing particles in and of themselves - affects how harsh a scrub is.
overall, a scrub containing walnut shell wouldn’t have been my first choice, but especially seeing as this is a product that doubles as a clay mask (i’m going off the name, i haven’t looked it up) if you’re careful when rinsing it off and use it sparingly you’ll be okay. just pay attention to your skin’s status and discontinue use altogether if you see an increase in redness, dehydration, sensitivity, etc.

What is Difference Between Using an Epilator and Waxing?
Tumblr media
Epilators or Waxing -- Which at-home depilatory process is best for you? Or"That is better?" . Epilators and waxing equally eliminate hair from the origin, so they are similar in their result. However, the practice differs for each. So here is a guide which contrasts epilators versus waxing some critical attributes, such as waxing versus epilator pain or that costs more, which could help you figure out which of the hair removal techniques might work for you.
Compare -- That lasts more
1. Compare -- Price
2. Compare -- Anxiety
3. Assess -- Skill required
An epilator is a electric epilation system that removes hair from the origin. It's a pair of tweezers onto a rotating wheel which immediately eliminates many hairs with every pass of this epilator on skin. There may be anywhere from 20 to 100 tweezers within an epilator, or so the epilator can pull two to 4 days the hair with every brief pass.
Epilators may be plug apparatus or rechargeable battery, for dry use only or for wet/dry that allow you to use them at the shower, also include numerous useful accessories which may decrease the pain.

Wish to attempt an epilator?
Waxing is the procedure of employing a gentle or hard wax skin at the direction of hair growth then taking away the hair from its origins by immediately pulling off the wax. A fantastic excellent wax will deteriorate quickly to the hairs rather than skin, carrying the hairs onto it if it's pulled off. Waxes come in 2 chief consistencies -- gentle wax and hard wax.
Soft wax is your milder version that's eliminated with wax strips made from cotton or recycled paper. Hard wax is thought better for waxing rough hair. It's less tacky and may be pull off since it cools by multiplying the edge of the implemented wax and thus that you don't require any strips to get hard wax depilation.
All waxing also gently exfoliates skin by also removing a coating of the deceased skin cells.
Want to find out more? Read our comprehensive guide to waxing at home here, complete with a cookie cutter, pain levels, and comprehensive reviews on a number of the greater waxing kits to get home available now.
1. Compare -- That lasts more
Lets assume you have a fantastic waxing procedure and a fantastic excellent epilator and you aren't breaking hairs in the skin and actually are pulling them out from the origin: Hair removal by the epilator or waxing ought to continue both long, which is anywhere from two weeks to 4 months.
However, once you epilate or wax along with the hair grows back , how soon will you wax or epilate? To wax , you are going to want the hair to return into a 1/ 4 of an inch or longer. Otherwise, the wax won't have the ability to hold the hair. On the flip side, a fantastic epilator can catch hairs which are just 1/ 2 of an inch. That means you might epilate sooner.
But some folks might discover that should they epilate hairs as they come , they should epilate more often. Hair grows back in phases, which means you can always have hair growth in. It is likely that throughout your own regrowth, all of the hair which you pulled out did not regrow. That means you might end up epilating more frequently for each time hairs cycle during their stages and return in. With waxing, since you need to wait till hairs achieve a certain period, you might realize that you are ready to eliminate more hairs since hairs have grown back in as you continue removed hair.
So each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Based upon your lifestyle or needs, you could find that one works best for you.
The epilator or waxing triumph on the premise that they continue equally long. However, you are going to have the ability to epilate new expansion sooner than you will have the ability to wax fresh expansion.
2. Compare -- Price
Let's suppose you bought a mid sized best epilator for approximately $100. Epilators are a 1 time purchase and should you take good care of these, you do not need to get replacement heads or alternative parts to get a lifetime. So that's a 1 time price of $100.
If you are waxing, you will have to change out your wax since you workout. If you are using hard wax, then all you want to wax is your wax. But if you are using wax, then you are also utilizing disposable wax strips and waxing applicators such as popsicle sticks. Gigi brand's replacement wax prices $10-20 and ought to last about 3 weeks even when you're using it 2x per month. Replacing strips and applicators might cost $25 complete but will last the entire year. So doing the math, you could invest $80 maximum for your initial year of waxing at home when you're tough wax and $105 maximum for your initial year of waxing using soft wax.
Obviously, we contrasted epilators versus waxing in the home for our example . Obtaining a wax performed professionally will cost a great deal more than that.
The price of epilators versus waxing is exactly the exact same for the initial year, but you are going to see your prices increase linearly annually with waxing while an epilator is a 1 time price.
Tumblr media
Wish to attempt an epilator?
Evaluate -- Pain
Both the epilator and wax pull out the hair from the root so are more debilitating than shaving or a depilatory lotion which merely removes the hair at the skin's surface rather than below.
Epilators can be especially painful if you generally shave or use a depilatory (compound shaving) lotion like Nair in which the hair isn't eliminated from the origin but just in the skin's surface. That is because over the time your own hair follicle (or root of the hair) regrows more hair every time that it's shaved and the hair follicle becomes quite powerful over time since it regrows and regrows. When you yank out the hair from its origin, the hair which grows back in seems nicer.
This really is what causes people to believe that waxing or epilating makes hair grow less and nicer, but that's really a myth. In fact, shaving leaves a thicker follicle (appears darker), and pulling it from the origin cause a thinner hair return. There is not less hair consequently.
Therefore, in the event that you've just shaved to date then you attempt using an epilator, you are pulling out this thicker follicle that will hurt more than if you're pulling out a follicle which was yanked out lately and regrown. Tweezing those hairs out can be debilitating.
If you would like to epilate long term rather than wax, but possess just shaved thus far, we advise that you wax off all of the hair after then epilate the regrowth. The epilator will harm much less in this manner.
This brings us into the pain of waxing. High powered epilators may have near 100 tweezers and may pull a great deal of hairs with every pass. Waxing additionally brings out a great deal of hair simultaneously. On the other hand, the procedure for placing warm wax onto skin, pressingand then immediately removing the wax sends a great deal of sensory info at once to your mind and a great deal of individuals discover that waxing may hurt less. Some waxes are soothing to the skin too and may decrease redness while cleansing the skin. In comparison to epilating for the very first time, waxing hurts much less and is much simpler.
Waxing hurts a bit less than the epilator. The senses are distinct, however, and several men and women discover they are fast accustomed to epilator pain and also find it a lot easier to address than waxing.

Compare -- Just how long each takes Employing an epilator is extremely straightforward. Pass the epilator in skin against the hair growth and it'll remove double-digit quantities of hairs with every pass.
Using wax, you need to do a little bit of planning to prepare for waxing. Namely, you have to heat your wax that could take 5-15 minutes depending on the wax.
If your accounts for heating up wax, then the epilator can eliminate hair quicker. But as soon as the wax is heated up, a seasoned waxer will eliminate hair equally as quickly as somebody who utilizes epilators regularly.
Tumblr media
Wish to attempt an epilator?
If you are a newcomer, you likely will get rid of exactly the identical quantity of hair quicker using an epilator compared to waxing.
But if you've crushed often, it is going to take you the exact same period of time to remove hair as though you were using an epilator.
So there's less of a learning curve using an epilator compared to waxing. But that learning curve may be well worth it since you're much less inclined to break hair through waxing since wax does a fantastic job of pulling out hair at the origin with very little work. Having an epilator, it's simple to get started but there's some skill involved in really pulling out the hair rather than breaking it. A fantastic excellent epilator helps for this.
Evaluate -- Convenience
Lay a towel down and you'll be able to epilate anywhere. Particularly in case you've got a battery billed epilator. You're able to epilate before the television as you catch up on the most recent show. You may even take an epilator with you once you travel and epilate at a resort.
To wax, then you have to cover the ground using a more durable cover of any sort (paper, a paper bag, etc) to catch drips. In addition, you require a reliable heating source and might want to be close to a microwave to reheat your wax or a socket to plug into your wax warmer. It'd definitely be awkward to attempt and choose your wax kit along with you while traveling. But, none of them are inconveniences if you are home.
The epilator wins just as it's simpler to pack for traveling.
The epilator wins hardly complete. If you're searching for a fast, simple electronic gadget, possess pain tolerance, also enjoy the ease of having the ability to remove hair on the move, then the epilator is the buddy. In case you've got extra sensitive skin, do not mind the further preparation of waxing, and favor a tried and classic process of hair removal, then waxing is the go-to.
Nevertheless, you might prioritize 1 attribute or attribute over another, so only you can choose that may be a much better way of hair removal for you. We expect this breakdown helped you to decide which attribute was important and make an educated choice.

Be The Skin BHA+ Pore Zero 30 Second Exfoliator - [Review Time] -A speedy peeling agent designed to remove thick dead skin cells within just 30 seconds Key ingredients: 💙1% Willoe Bha 💙Alpha hydroxide Acid(Aha) "fruit extract" 💙Apricot Extract 💙Aloe vera leaf extract 💙Psedocydonia Sinensis extract How to use Dry your face after washing. Take a small amount and gently roll and massage all over your face but avoid areas around your eyes and mouth. Then rinse off with lukewarm water. 1. Get the exfoliator. Take a small amount and gently apply to your skin. 2. Roll and rub for about one minute. Then, dead skin cells are being formed. 3. Cleanly wash with lukewarm water (Do not roll too long) I like the idea that it only needs 30 seconds to work and the problem with dead skin cells, blackheads and whiteheads is over. It also perfect as I have dry skin type,so a more less chance of irritation. It has a cloudy grainy gel cream texture that is easy to spread and after a few seconds of massaging/rubbing it into the skin, a white particles roll up appears. The grains doesn't feel coarse so it is not harsh on skin. I like the subtle fresh powdery scent which is not irritating to me. I used it 1 to 2x a week, and I can say that it is so gentle to my skin as there is no dryness and irritation experienced every after use. I like how my skin feels more soft and skin texture feels more smooth to touch especially on my jaw line which is prone to roughness and skin looks more radiant, with a more less visible pores. Whiteheads around nose is diminished and looking forward for some blackheads to finally gone. I like how my skin feels more clean, clear, looks always fresh and healthy glowing every after use. 🌸 Happy #skincaresaturday Beauties!!! I’ve been using these on & off for the last few months, & I really do like them. They are from @innisfreeusa & they all contain Jeju Volcanic clusters. Pore Cleansing Facial Foam w/ Volcanic Clusters, Dewy Glow Mist w/ Jeju Cherry Blossom, Pore Clearing Toner 2X w/ Volcanic Clusters & Pore Clearing Clay Mask w/ Super Volcanic Clusters. ✨The face wash has little exfoliating beads & foams up so nicely. It has a light scent that isn’t overpowering or strong. I don’t use it all the time because there have been times where my face felt a little dry after using. But I do use it once or twice a week & don’t usually have any problems. ✨The facial mist is really refreshing. It helps moisturize my skin while giving me a brighter, glowing complexion. I use it throughout the day, whenever I feel like I need a refresher. ✨The toner is an innovative wipe-off formula that has special Jeju Volcanic Clusters & Spheres, which are known to absorb oil & cleanse the pores. I enjoy the cool feeling this @InnisFree toner provides to my freshly washed face. I know that it’s providing an extra level of cleansing, without being drying or stripping my skin of essential oils. ✨The mask is wash off, which I prefer to sheet masks, & it is really cooling on contact. It absorbs oil & reduces the appearance of pores- both features that appeal to me! The clay is easy to spread over the face & even though you wait 10 minutes before rinsing, it doesn’t get uncomfortably dry. It never makes my face feel tight. After the 10 minutes, you gently massage the mask while rinsing, which is like a mini facial. It’s suitable for use 1-2 times a week. 🌸I wish that @innisfreeusa was cruelty free because I would most definitely be buying their products if they were. I was fortunate enough to have been able to try these in exchange for my honest review. Thank you @innisfreeusa & @octoly . Beauties, have you ever used a beauty product made with volcanic clusters??? LMK down in the comments!🌸 𑁍 #innisfree #octolyfamily #octoly #innisfreemask #innisfreejejuvolcanic #jejuvolcanic #cherryblossoms #skincareobsessed #kbeautyskincare #instaskincare #beautybloggerlife (at Newark, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/COD8jMOJx6U/?igshid=1jr4rmdxi4sd

A 7 Step Skin Care Routine
STEP 1: REMOVAL OF MAKEUP/SUNSCREEN
Tumblr media
I think double-cleansing is more commonly preferred by Asian ladies and this simply means using a makeup remover first before using a cleanser. With the 'advancements' made on makeup today - theres budge-proof, smudge-proof, waterproof and basically, everything-proof - a normal cleanser won't cut it. It just won't. Don't clog up your pores by skipping this step. For me personally, I stick to using a micellar water cause that has proven to work really well with the makeup I use and my skin type. Even if you wear sunscreen alone, I highly recommend this step because sunscreen is also made of chemicals that sit on top our skin, that our cleanser might not fully clean off.
STEP 2: CLEANSE
Tumblr media
When picking a cleanser, go for one that suits your skin type. Oily skins tend to prefer gel cleaners while drier or sensitive skins can benefit from a milky cleanser so it isn't too harsh. I also do my best to pick a cleanser that has gentle ingredients. For me, I don't require my cleanser to multi-task. There are cleansers out there with AHA or BHA, or whitening benefits - but tbh, I don't see how the chemicals are supposed to perform optimally when its being washed off after a minute. I just really don't get that. In addition, I tend to use my cleanser with my beloved Clean and Clear foaming face wash every night and I prefer a gentle cleanser because the is already exfoliating my face as it cleanse. In the day, I like to use my fingers to gently massage my face as I cleanse to wake my skin.
STEP 3: EXFOLIATE
Tumblr media
Physical exfoliators can be used 1-2x a week and to clear away dead skin cells and dirt on the surface of the skin. Chemical exfoliants - my favorite - include AHA/BHA/PHA. This goes deeper than skinsurface and helps to regenerate skin surface. They also remove dirt from deep within the pores! Personally, I feel that this step helps to prep my skin for better absorption. With this, I've cut down on physical exfoliants to 1x in 2 weeks.
STEP 5: TONE
Tumblr media
Before moisturizing and following your facial cleanser, a face toner helps to remove excess dirt, traces of oil and makeup, correct and balance the pH of your skin, and helps control acne. ... By helping to clean and close pores, it's specially beneficial for acne-prone skin.
STEP 7: MOISTURIZE
Tumblr media
There are many good reasons to use a facial moisturizer. Keep skin hydrated is an important step toward keeping it healthy. Facial moisturizers can enhance the functioning of the stratum corneum, the uppermost layer of skin. The stratum corneum is made up of fat, oil, and skin cells that help keep moisture in the skin.
