Representation is more important than ever, especially for the kids who are most marginalized.
Digital illustration of an older Latina teacher wearing an apple print dress. She’s standing in front of a blackboard that says, ‘inclusive curriculums benefit all students.’ There’s a variety of items around the image, including a pride flag, Black lives matter sign, globe, and plant.
REMINDER that ONTARIO CANADA’S GOVT just REVOKED EDUCATION WORKERS from their LEGAL RIGHT TO STRIKE after CUTTING THE EDUCATION BUDGET BY 373 MILLION DOLLARS in the first THREE MONTHS of 2022.
YES I AM YELLING.
Yesterday I told my kids that I like dogs so one of them made me a PowerPoint about dogs
So you’ll get kids like that and then you’ll get kids who try to throw chairs at each other
And this is why we need to abolish private schools because if the kids from the first group had the same classes with the kids in the second group you would see big reform and FAST
(This also applies to getting rid of funding schools based off of property taxes)
"Kids and young adults these days don't know how to do things or use a computer"
it usually helps if you pass the knowledge down instead of expecting it to be common knowledge/sense. I have no idea if computer basics classes in schools are still a thing but they should be if not.
While we're on the subject of teaching, we should improve schools and give them better funding so they can keep doing the above and young people will know how to do things instead of continuously waiting for people to teach them.
Lucius Fox is in the drive thru for some coffee, and like. He's just. He's had a time, okay?
He's stuck on some equations in regard to the amount of torsion a joint would go through if it's half in his dimension and half in another, and it's driving him up a wall.
He's been up for like forty-eight hours, he's tired, he's thirsty, he just wants a coffee, and also how to solve this dilemma.
He doesn't expect the barista in the drive-thru he's ranting about the engineering issues to actually provide decent feedback, and give him a few alternatives.
So he rushes to the pick-up window, not even caring to order, to look at this godsend of a barista.
It's a scrawny kid with black hair and blue eyes, looking startled. Boy can't be more than eighteen.
He asks what college the kid is going to, or plans to go to.
To his absolute horror, the kid-Danny, according to the nametag-says he can't afford college. That he'd had a stint in highschool where he just hadn't been able to focus, and his parents had spent every penny they had on their own inventions.
So that was why he was a barista; because if he worked there for four years, they would offer tuition assistance.
Which.
No. No no no no no.
Lucius pulls around to march into the store, Bruce Motherfucking Wayne already blearily on his phone.
He is getting this kid, and any friend of his, into college.
*remembers i'm not in school and therefore beholden to neither heaven nor hell nor any man's grading system*
*joyously shredding & tossing all my carefully arranged 3x5 mental notecards into the air like so much beige confetti. raising my arms in victory, cheering raucously until i accidentally inhale bits of homemade confetti*
(*coughing up itty bits of paper like a cat evicting a hairball with a firm understanding of tenants' rights*) wait wat happens next
Why does no one talk about the emotional labour of being an educator!?
Some of these kids are real downers!
Saying things like “I’m going to fail” and “I hate this class” will not deter me. It will only make me tired. But you have nothing against my resilience and redbull.
And no, I’m not sending you to the office. I know that’s what you want. I don’t care.
But tomorrow the art club is doing a bake sale and I will find the change for the students who’s parents didn’t have any.
French TV journalist having a hard time trying to get woman in the street to comment on Macron's latest speech yesterday
Protesters organised casserolades (aka banging on pots and pans) in front of city halls across the country at 8pm, when Macron was speaking, to symbolically drown out his voice. Later that evening, Macron was filmed singing a song with some 'random people' in a street in Paris, trying to show he can go out and meet people and have fun because protesters don't exist. The people he was singing with (members of a choir, some of whom are 'alt-right-leaning') were using a folk song app created by far-right activists that was criticised a few months ago for hosting a Spanish fascist anthem & Third Reich military marches.
The government's response was that the President "couldn't know the background of the people he met that night." Maybe if he wants to avoid being associated with the far-right (that's a big if, I know), Macron should keep in mind that with the kinds of strategies and positioning his government has adopted lately, people in the street who welcome him with open arms and are proud to be filmed with him have a higher than average likelihood of supporting fascism.
The protests at Emory university in Atlanta have been met with the most violent police brutality by far. Students have been tased, tear gassed shot with rubber bullets and THEY WILL NOT STOP because they are courageous Beings with a heart to match and the common people will not accept anything less than a Free Palestine 🙏🍉

So the "Jesper is Wylan's sugar baby" jokes don't bother me TOO badly, but they irk me slightly because they're pretty much based on the fact that no one knows what an allowance is beyond the context of "spending money a parent gives to their child". An allowance in business is an amount of money given to someone for a specific business-related expense, so the "allowance" mentioned at the end of CK is just the amount of money they budgeted to put into the stock market, which Jesper is in charge of. Because you know, he's smart and also Wylan's business partner, not his incompetent pet. Ok maybe the jokes bother me some
