i live in TN and it's still deadly here for queer people, S P E C I F I C A L L Y trans people. thursday, March 2, 2023 it became even more so. senate bills 0001 and 0003 passed the Republican-controlled Tennessee state House and Senate.

I live in the east tn. I just put my pride flag outside. Im shaking bc I’m scared.
I know the pride flags on the way to work always made me feel better and safe. They have me a smile. I remember seeing flags when I was closeted knowing I could feel safe there. Hell one house was across the street from some families house. When issues would arrive, I knew as long as I made it across the street, I would be safe. I could see it from the window. It gave me more strength and courage than anything else.
One house just took down their flag. I understand. It’s scary. But if I’m staying, I don’t want to stay in the closet.

You know how I talked about how Keiko refuses to exclude Lee from the works and contributions she, Bill, and Lee all made to Monarch and their theories? Do you know who did exclude Lee?
Hiroshi.
He talks about how his parents were right. How they were labeled as lunatics and heretics. Yet he ignores or refuses to engage with the reality that Lee was also labeled that, by Hiroshi himself. And that Hiroshi abandoned Lee to that containment facility for decades because of that belief.
Now of course when Hiroshi said his “parents”, he could have already included Lee in that but he’s also been very clear over the course of the show in delineating who his parents are and that Lee is “Uncle Lee”, so the fact that he brings up the treatment of his parents and doesn’t mention Lee despite all that Lee has endured feels like a clear exclusion.
And yet, the man (and family) that Hiroshi abandoned is the reason that his mother and his daughter made it back home.
Season 2 better give us a proper scene of Hiroshi apologizing and mourning the uncle he totally screwed over, and when Lee gets back home, Hiroshi better fucking give him a proper hug too.

oooook so there are two possible explanations for this contradiction. a) bill has become so disconnected from his daughter that he has forgotten how old she is. or, the option that seems more likely, b) alice was seventeen when her parents split up, and therefore considers seventeen years old to be the last age where she was truly bill's daughter. either way another great example of two small bits of dialogue adding so much depth to these two characters who are never truly able to be on stage together except for when alice is already gone
