i take a deep breath as mama told me to but i ended up coughing and spluttering “oh sweetie” billie laughed softly holding me close rocking me back and forth shushing me gently.
“we gotta get you home bug hm?” she cooed i nodded sniffling, “can you tell mama how old you are my love?” billie says, i hold up 2 fingers “okay babe” she pays my bum before getting up with me still in her arms, i squeal holding onto your basketball jersey giggling.
“you silly girl” billie laughs grabbing our bags and unlocking the stall door, i whined “yeah bug?” billie looks down at me “peoples gonna see” i whine tears filling my eyes again.
“oh baby okay i’ll put you down then you can hold my hand yeah?” she puts me down putting my backpack on my back taking my hand and guiding me to the office.
“she’s not feeling well i need to take her home” i vaguely hear billie talking to the front office i’m too busy playing with her basketball key ring on her bag, i whine quietly to billie just wanting to go home and cuddle “patience bug” i see her look down and give me a warning look.
i feel billie take my hand and lead me out the school and to her car, dragon.
she buckles me in before getting in the drivers side handing me my water bottle and paci as she always carries a spare i immediately take the paci shoving it in my mouth hearing billie chuckle starting the car.
i must of falling asleep because the next thing i know i was being lifted into billies arms finneas getting our bags out the car “hi baby” billie smiles down at me seeing i’m awake, i whine and point to finneas i don’t see him often so when i do it’s the best i make grabby hands his way hearing them both laugh as finneas takes me into his arms “hey eve’s you okay?” finneas exclaims also using his nickname for me bouncing me slightly in his arms.
“ ‘m okay!” i throw my arms up excitedly giggling, “bug calm down” i hear billie say chuckling getting my bag out the car hers already inside “hey she’s okay mamas mean huh?” finneas teases tickling me slightly “yeah!” i giggle uncontrollably “come on you two” billie rolls her eyes walking inside i pout thinking i upset her my 2 year old mindset not understanding i whine trying to get out of finneas’s hold “okay hey i’m putting you down your okay” finneas puts me down confused on the sudden mood change.
i run inside past billie and her parents and into her room shutting the door jumping on billies bed.
billies pov:
“finneas what did you do?” i look at him after you ran past not even greeting my mom you 2nd favourite person after me of course.
“nothing!” finneas defends, i sigh rolling my eyes again before making my way upstairs to my room “baby?” i knock not getting a reply “it’s mama” i add still no reply, i open the door walking in seeing you face down on my bed.
i chuckle sitting down next to you, “oh bug what’s wrong?” i stoke the back of your head “yous m-mad at me” evelyn says in the most heartbreaking voice.
“oh baby no you didn’t upset me hey come here” i pull her onto my lap holding her close. “your okay bug mamas got you shh” i rock her back and forth as her breathing evens out and she falls asleep “i love you.”

There is just just much potential to unfold here. With exception of event characters like Granny Felmeir and Najma, all female characters are all off screen. So we kind of have to fill in the blanks of who these women and how they act, and that is where the fun comes in.
Especially for a Miss Yuu, because by default the whole situation raises many questions and concerns that all the mama bears come out. Yuu gets more care packages than their sons. "What do you mean why am I sending her things? You have everything you need and she has nothing. Now be sure to ask if she liked the cookies I sent." Yuu went from barely scraping by to being in want of nothing in just a few months.
We all know Asha, we all know Lilith. I just know Deuces mom is so nice and offers to have her over for breaks if she ever needs it. "Does she have any family? No? Invite her for the holidays right now!" Or Sebeks mom, I like to headcanon that Mrs. Zigvolt is more or less twisted from Fauna, so she is the sweetest lady alive. Her children are her everything and she cannot stand the thought of Yuu being all alone. She will not stand for it.
Mama Ashengrotto and Mama Leech are instigating each other, I just know it. They both like Yuu and love having her around. Theyre going to set up some Kiss the girl type scenes for their sons and hope it works. If Azul or the Tweels win they both win.
I feel like they all have a friendly competition to see whose son Yuu ends up liking. The race to be her mother in law if you will.

Yeah that's fair, Dancing Shadows does have a cliche plot and it's not very realistic with Carlotta's backstory/development, but you can't deny, the book does earn its place as a golden age book :]
At least in my opinion anyway, the girls' brains were showcased like hell in that book and you love to see it. Also aesthetic, you can't deny the aesthetic
On Carlotta tho, yeah her character in general is probably by far the least realistic part of the book, but even then the focus was more on the judges trying to sabo the competition than Carlotta herself. Being real, her skill in ballet probably would've been more like uh
Okay if we're gonna go with the lore here, she is a self-taught ballerina whose skill allowed her to qualify for this mega-prestigious dance competition, so her skill would be (compared to everyone else in the competition) mid at best? I think? If we disregard everyone being like "beautiful, amazing, prodigy", she'd probably be mid in the competition. Don't get me wrong, that'd probably be a "WHAT" kinda skill level for someone in her situation, but uh yeah with Mice for Dance sabo-ing, girlie probably won't make it past first round, especially if the MfD judges were rig-y enough that only Colette and Violet, both classically trained students, made it among the Thea Sisters in the preliminary rounds, which, funny enough, was what would've happened in the book haha. Rousetti's vote really did carry her huh
Okay ramble over, main thing I liked about the book was the emphasis on the message of "it's not about if you went to a bougie-ass school, it's about if you genuinely care for the art and put effort into it". And the girls big-braining the crap outa getting the MfD judges and competitors exposed for their shenanigans. The switcheroo was a clever one change my mind
Also the theme of where the line where artistic legitimacy is drawn. The book has these debates peppered around about whether or not it truly matters what your background of education is in ballet in order for it to be legitimate ballet, highlighted especially in Vasily and Pyotr's debate, where Vasily believes that ballet should be open to influences from around the world, while Pyotr believes that authentic ballet only exists in the traditions taught in Russian dance schools. It's kind of a debate that happens in all forms of art in some flavor, and in the book, neither Vasily nor Pyotr are proven right or wrong, if that makes sense. Even when Carlotta makes it big, she's still kind of a point in Pyotr's favor, since she's a ballet nerd who studied as much as she could about the tradition and the art in general despite being a self-taught dancer who watched ballerinas dance from backstage and then copied their movements in front of a mirror to the best of her ability. So seeing where artists fall in that spectrum of the debate is something I find interesting (when ignorant idiots aren’t the ones debating).

Yet another guy I roast to the moon and back, but damn his mom it, do I really like him. At first I genuinely hated his ass, but getting deeper into the game, I realized how wonderful he is. He's altruistic, his caring, protective. He's good at his job, just lazy lol, which becomes a bit cute and endearing if you look at it long enough. He's a small, whiny oversized baby( ˘ ³˘)♥( ˘ ³˘)♥

Oh boy oh boy I finished Yves’s route…! Spoilers under the cut as usual!

Okay one thing at a time! First off - Hugo is SO Yvesexual oh my god?? Bro just confess already please I’m sorry Ceres is getting in the way! “Partner” pffft yeah okay mister “I literally died from feeling too much love” sure, I hope we all find our own Hugo one day 😂
Also while all the CGs were beautiful in this route (oh his mask coming off, oh him crying in the corner, aaah the one with him sobbing into Ceres 😭 probably the best kiss CG even though it’s just like.. on the cheek LOL), can we talk about Yves’s hair-down sprite? Like… what is that. What happened? Yves honey who did your hair? Did you shred it with your sword yourself?? I would normally brush it off if it just looked a little odd, but Mathis, Lucas, and Ankou all have perfectly normal looking long hair (even Scien’s looks more normal) so clearly this was a choice. But it was a bad choice sorry my boy 💀
Now back to the route itself, I really liked it overall! Yves and Ceres I think have had the best romantic relationship build up (even if they both desperately need therapy). I just gotta yell out some feelings as if this is a liveblog lmao
The way I gasped when Dahut and Nadia showed up? Seriously I did not expect these two to steal my heart so much?? They’re truly a balm for my soul… Any time Dahut shows up now I’m like OH THANK GOD someone who doesn’t need therapy 😩
So… the science in his game has always been *hand wavey* and I think I’m generally good at just going with the flow in fictional stories, but like……… HUH??? Bruh I had to put down my controller and just stare at the screen for a hot second. We’re part flower - aight cool cool anime shit sure whatever. Their genes are different colors - uhhhh… okay, sure I guess? A pair of chromosomes are killed each year and that’s why everyone dies when they turn 23 - HOLD UP WHAT NOW??? Yoooo that’s actually hilarious it made me bust out laughing 😂 (I also still don’t understand why Yves’s family didn’t just tell Scien or someone about the fact that it was the toxins in the soil killing people?? Like bruh)
The whole “relivers can’t learn or change so people can’t even switch careers because their bodies don’t change” thing is also so dumb. Like… what does that even mean? If you worked out would you not gain muscle?? Practicing something wouldn’t help?? What about Hugo going from someone who didn’t have to work a day in his life to one of the best fighters just behind Yves and Adolphe in the Corps after he had become a reliver??? Ah nono don’t think about the science, don’t think about the science… 😩
I did very much love our boys banding together at the end though! If only it was against the mcfucking Royal family and Capucine (and whoever this mysterious “sponsor” is) instead of against Scien… dude I support your experiments, they really should’ve just let us die this time LOL (very glad Capucine got his ass handed to him though, god I hate Capucine… even though he’s kinda pretty, he’s not Jean levels of pretty enough to make me not hate him, especially after Nadia 😂 thank you Scien)
Also I’m sorry I went very feral with Lucas breaking free and showing up to help, especially in the Bourreau outfit in front of Yves and Adolphe!! Yaaas baby go use your superhuman strength to kill everyone, you’re doing great sweetie, SLAY!!! (literally) 😩😂 I really uwu-ed when Dahut was like, yeah I look up to Lucas so I’m kinda pissed at you Scien (best adult boy)… why do I feel like he’s gonna have a better chance at a happier end in Yves’s route than his own fucking salvation end lmao
And final thoughts, where was Ankou at the end?? I loved that he showed up to help Yves and he was the one to give him his mask, but buddy where did you go at the end??? Is there some multiverse or time travel shit going on???? Ceres really decided to follow in the footsteps of Lucas’s despair end with Yves though huh… 👁️👄👁️ sweetie I’m so sorry we really turned you in BBQ, a burnt chicken nugget, fire emblem Sigurd 💀 LMAO
Can’t wait to get into Le Salut!!
