Ankh-Morpork no longer had a fire brigade. The citizens had a rather disturbingly direct way of thinking at times, and it did not take long for people to see the rather obvious flaw in paying a group of people by the number of fires they put out. The penny really dropped after Charcoal Tuesday.

My house caught on fire and a fire brigade came and people made of fire just kept walking out of it and the firemen were trying to put out the fire but the water hose just shot fire into the fire and then one of them said, "Ha ha, guess we are really fighting fire with fire!"

Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage opens this Thursday, Edinburgh has been without a museum dedicated to the fire service since the old one at Lauriston Place closed in 2016 despite a sustained campaign to save it.
The new museum will be Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Closed Sunday to Monday. Subject to volunteer Guide availability, we run free daily guided tours (in the morning at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm).
The Museum is situated on Dryden Terrace just off MacDonald Road.
I will need to have a root aboot and try and find pics of the old building I took about ten years or so back.
