top 5 things people should know about sex
sex doesn't ever have to involve penetration or even genitalia if you don't want it to.
the lack of an orgasm isn't necessarily a sign that the sex was bad, and the presence of one isn't a guarantee that the sex was good or even wanted.
wanting or needing any kind of aides during sex - vibrators, other toys, more lube, pillows to prop up parts of your body, etc - is totally fine and doesn't mean that anyone isn't "good enough" as they are.
there's no guaranteed trick to make yourself a better sexual partner except for subjecting yourself to the mortifying ordeal of being known and just talking to your partner(s).
statistically speaking whatever you think is weird about your own body or sexual proclivities is probably pretty average.

A team of Rhode Island School of Design students and researchers have created tesselated, floating planting beds made of a mycelium biomaterial to cleanse waterways of pollutants and restore wetland habitat.
The floating Biopods act to introduce native plants back to degraded wetland systems while cleansing the water through bioremediation, or the re-introduction of microorganisms that naturally decontaminate their environment.
"Because of the urbanization of the Providence River itself, a lot of the wetland that acts to actively remediate pollution had been removed. So the project is really about reintroducing this new biology to kick start these ecosystems again so that the river might repair itself."
"It's interesting, the relationships that we have to biomaterials and the way that we are connected to systems that have the potential to remediate in a way that isn't electricity intensive or chemically intensive," said Banerjee.

This Black History Month, reflect for a moment on the fact that George Washington Carver, famously "the inventor of peanut butter and more than 100 industrial uses for peanuts" wasn't, like, Doc Brown fucking around in his garage because he really liked peanuts but was specifically trying to introduce larger use of a nitrogen fixing legume into crop rotations against cotton monoculture which was destroying yields, livelihoods and the biosphere, and how most agribusiness farming now just destroys that topsoil on purpose and continues to grow a cotton monoculture (or soy or corn or whichever local monoculture is profitable) using petrochemical derived fertilizer, which is one element driving climate change
Daniel Hale Williams performed the first successful heart surgery. He also founded the first nonsegregated hospital in America because he was keenly aware of disparate health outcomes by race which is still a problem today.
WEB Dubois was a part of the delegations for the birth of the UN. His proposal to include in the charter that "the colonial system of government … is undemocratic, socially dangerous and a main cause of wars" was not adapted for the final draft. We might see inaction against colonial violence to this day as part of the failure of others to heed his warnings there.
I feel like so often when we look at Black History Month so much of it is driven by factoids but when taken as history in context its about a direct line from decades and centuries to what is happening right now.

As someone who works in the arts - admittedly in very different circumstances, but still, I have worked on shows that have had replica firearms and blank firing firearms - this feels like the correct verdict based on everything I've heard.
There are circumstances that some may feel are mitigating that I actually feel are aggravating. By all accounts Gutierrez-Reed was relatively inexperienced and under a lot of pressure from producers to deliver under budget. This case shows exactly why you cannot be taking jobs that you're not ready for when they involve life-critical work. Whether it's automation, rigging, performer flying, weapons, or any other life-critical role, you should not allow yourself to be in a position of responsibility that you aren't ready for - and being ready for it includes knowing when to put your foot down with producers and say "I cannot guarantee the safety of the cast and crew under these conditions, therefore I will not proceed."
Because of her negligence or incompetence, a woman died. There are other people who bear some responsibility, but Gutierrez-Reed was the person who signed on the dotted line to say that it was her job to keep everyone on that set safe from firearms, and she failed. This is why I would simply never do a job like that - I know that I couldn't handle the pressure of that much responsibility. You need to be completely, 100% in control of the entire site, 100% sure that no one has tampered with any of your kit, 100% sure that you have done everything right, because if you're not 100% sure then that means there's a chance someone dies.
