Rufus quirks another smile as he stands in front of her casually – one hand in his pocket and two empty champagne flutes in the other like it’s his damn job to stand there and look ridiculously handsome. Tifa wants to kick his ass and climb him like a tree at the same time.

He raises an eyebrow at her as if he just read her thoughts. “Care for a dance?”

He sets the empty glasses down at a nearby table and offers his arm. Tifa stares at it, imagining there’s no going back if she accepts it. She thinks about what “going back” means and purses her lips. She’s there to have a good time, dammit; and regardless if it happens at the behest of Rufus Shinra, she's determined to salvage the night. She smiles cheekily up at him and drapes her arm through his.

“Well, to be fair,” Adriana chimes in, “whenever we talk to you, you mostly talk about Chris and Buck. It’s hard to cut in sometimes. Especially when you start raving about your Buck.” she smirks. “Since you want to meet Soph’s boyfriend so badly, why haven’t we met Buck, actually?”

“Huh?” he looks at his younger sister dumbfounded. Surely she doesn’t mean to insinuate… “I’m not- Buck’s not- He’s just my friend.”
