Prompt:
Contrary to what everyone believes, Damian does not know death.
He grew up with the League. Sheltered from the worst even though father does not seem to think so. Grievous injuries were healed with a submersion in a pool of glowing green.
Damian does not know death. For him, death his temporary. A setback. Something to be cured with magic unknown.
So when Damian stabs one of father’s false sons, he does not understand why father is so upset. Why he is now barred from the cave. Why everyone looks at him with such horror. Surely they know he had to demonstrate that he, the blood son, is superior?
He does not understand why the false son does not get back up. Why father does not take him to the pits.
Damian does not understand. He will have to investigate.
He does not understand why nobody wishes to talk to him all of a sudden.

i got loaned to a different department at work and it incidentally opened up a whole new part of the conspiracy map for me. “they faked the moon landing” is OUT, “they faked the american revolution” is IN. the district of columbia and also the u.s. treasury were created as a british puppet state, and american companies and also every human american citizen to this day are owned by?? british nobility i guess??? i got told to LOOK IT UP GIRL but like where do you even start with that. even on god’s most incognito-est browser i don’t think i want this string of search queries on my soul.

whats one aspect of musician! eren and influencer yn’s lives that you’re looking forward to exploring
omg definitely their individual backstories and what led them to their current journeys! I’ve talked about (y/n) a little but I haven’t delved into it fully but Eren’s is gonna be sooo good! (hint: you’ll understand why he left home and why he acts the way he does, also where his deep seeded hatred for Grisha comes from!) like their relationship is going to be heavily affected by their pasts and y’all are gonna see why they cling to one another so much not just romantically but in general.

a couple of years back i was pretty vocal about not getting when people complained about their art not getting "enough" notes. but i'm getting to recognise a sub-category of that frustration these days that, in fairness, was maybe what people were talking about all along? but i've also seen other posts mention how fandom spaces feel changed since the last few years, so maybe it's a new thing or at least a thing that hadn't reached my fandom corner until now.
i truly don't mind if my writing doesn't garner a lot of attention (although i say this from a place of priviledge where my writing has so far always garnered some attention, and often a lot more than i anticipated). but what is really starting to grate a little is the amount of attention vs. the amount of reaction. For example, before the latest update on my big multichapter fic, it sat at ~ 33,050 hits. since then the fic has been clicked 400 times. the kudos count went up by maybe three and there were three new bookmarks - this isn't super surprising because i don't expect to be reaching a lot of new people with an unfinished 100+k word fic in a dwindling fandom, and if they're return readers they can't leave new kudos. but five people have commented on the fic since the update. One percent of readers who have clicked on this fic have reacted. Did all these people see it on the recently updated feed, started to read it, didn't vibe with it and moved on? That honestly wouldn't bother me. But it's been steadily gaining attention for the last few weeks, long after it moved off the first page of the recently updated view for the fandom. so rather, I think it's mostly subscribed users (the fic has a little over 400 active subscriptions so that would make sense) or people actively checking back on the fic. in which case they must be at least somewhat invested in it.
and again, i'm not owed any feedback. i put my work out for free and people decide what to do with that. but fandom is a collaborative space, and it's been feeling like less that for a while. people seem less ready for conversation, and i think that's sad, and quite demoralising for creatives (at least for me personally). fandom work isn't meant as bingeable content that you consume and then leave. if you do that on netflix, that's fine, because you're paying the platform and they're at least supposed to recompense the creatives who made the show you just watched. fandom artists don't get that. we make things for the love of it, and because we wanted to share that love. it doesn't feel like sharing though when you put something out there and nothing comes back. it feels like standing in an empty warehouse telling my stories to nobody. and, again, i'm personally lucky enough that it's not like that all the time, but i get why people stop doing it. and i get that engaging with art as an audience member doesn't come easy to everyone, but fandom culture needs it. it's supposed to be an exchange. it's supposed to go both ways, and i think if you want to sustain the culture, you simply need to try and give something back, whatever that is.
because putting something you made out there and nobody looks at it is definitely not a great feeling, but having anonymous masses file by and look at your thing and then meet you with deafening silence feels... worse.

AU in which Hob Gadling did not receive much more than a raised eyebrow of both Endless that evening at the White Horse. He falls in the next battle and Death steps up to him and says: "Hello Hob." "Hey, I remember you! You and that... fancy gentleman, I saw you at the inn a few months ago!" "You remember my brother?" And Hob's eyes shine and he grins with a bit of cheek. "Oh, yes!" Death is delighted. "Say, Robert Gadling, can I interest you in a wager?"
"Sure, what kind?"
"If you can get my brother to call you a friend in...mmh, let's see...five hundred years time - I will let you live for as long as you wish."
"Five hundred years? That's almost forever already! But sure. Why not? You have a deal." He grins again. "How hard can that be? I'm a likable guy."
Death smiles and claps him on the shoulder. "That you are, Hob. If anyone can do it, you can."

I can only imagine what Aerys was like during Weresigil Week. Though I wonder if the strength of the sigil depended on the person since you mentioned you need fifty Freys for a tower.
I don't think no one would doubt that Rhaegar or Daenerys would be full-blown dragons (Or Jon if he goes towards the angry black thing much to Ned's every-increasing blood pressure) but what about "unworthy" Targaryens like Viserys or Aerys? Would they be more like lizards whose best attempts to huff fire only puff up smoke or terrifying dragons in their own right?
Thematically, I’m not sure if I like that very much. Like saying someone is more of a “worthy” example of their heritage treads very close to completely opposing the whole point of the series, imo. It’s plausible that some physicalities would vary between people (maybe Aerys is a weird scraggly looking dragon because he’s a scraggly looking human, for example), but I don’t think a person’s moral values/actions would affect that.
(I also think it's questionable that Jon would be a full blown dragon in that scenario if it's based on how much of a "worthy targaryen" they are. homeboy is like an anti-targ Targaryen (if you even want to call him one). he would be a fucking gecko.)

Anybody else have a character you just sort of irrationally dislike? Like the character hasn't even wronged you in any real way, but every time you think about them you're just like "uuuuuuck that bitch".

I noticed that in some of your fanworks on the Pevensies, you imply a deviation from canon where they reign to old age before returning to earth through the wardrobe, and I think that's really neat! I also realize that that would probably mean they would spend more time with Cor and Corin in that alternate scenario and I also find that really neat.
You don't know this, my dear, but you've just gotten me up on my soapbox ;)
So you know how the Tolkien Legendarium has a sort of tiered canon where a given text is considered more or less legitimate with reference to what we understand of JRRT's final intentions? Like LotR and The Hobbit > published Silmarillion > Children of Hurin, Beren and Luthien, Fall of Gondolin > HoME > Unfinished Tales, etc? Star Wars used to do something similar, back before the Disney buy-out.
Well, I say Jack's timeline is second-tier canon and should be treated as such. The fifteen-year Golden Age, in particular, is all but contradicted by the actual text of LWW: "Long and happy was their reign." (Emphasis mine).
The list of things they're supposed to have done also doesn't fit into fifteen years terribly neatly. We're told the Pevensies (1) finished stamping out the Witch's army (2) drove back the Northern Giants in a series of wars (3) entered into friendships and alliances with countries beyond the sea (4) became tight enough with Lune that he trusts them to manage Corin, his only remaining son, in a hostile country and in battle even after Cor's abduction (5) saw new construction on Cair Paravel (6) build up a Narnian navy and made them a "seafaring people" (7) had enough peaceful leisure time for hunts and tourneys and balls and whatnot, and (8) forgot about England. They were also pre-teens when they took the throne and, presumably, needed to be educated. I honestly do not believe that Jack intended a fifteen-year reign for the Pevensies when he wrote LWW.
Also, consider that a Golden Age has to be long enough to actually, ya know, be considered an age. It would be another matter entirely if we were told that the Pevensies' reign was the start of Narnia's Golden Age, but no. Doctor Cornelius says "Their reign was the Golden Age in Narnia and the land has never forgotten them." Would we call QE1's reign over England a Golden Age if she had reigned for fifteen years rather than forty-five?
So yeah. I tend to imagine between forty and fifty years for the Golden Age. The timeline, and with it the fifteen-year Golden Age, is second-tier canon and doesn't overrule what Jack put in the actual text of his books.

Monologue
“Blah blah blah reign of terror and destruction and fiery pits of inferno will swallow us whole. Yep, yep, move along, no time for monologue.”
At the hero’s speedy, jumbled sentence filled with audacity, the villain raised an eyebrow.
“I beg your pardon?”
“If you must beg, do it quickly.”
The villain promptly relaxed their previously proud poise to place their hands on their hips, not caring for this tone the hero had picked up.
“You misunderstand, dear. I do not care for you being so snide. You show up to fight me, all of me, you cannot demand one part or the other.”
Seeing that this was going nowhere, the hero also relaxed, huffing slightly.
“I wasn’t aware that being a criminal came with an annoying soliloquy requirement. Seriously, I don’t have time for your neediness, I have things to get back to.”
Neediness?
Neediness?
“That was unnecessarily rude.”
The hero stayed silent for a moment, eyes wide and unblinking, taking a slow and deep breath before once again opening their mouth.
“Would you feel better if I let you monologue?”
The villain crossed their arms. “Well now I don’t feel like it. What’s so important anyways? It seems as though the person who keeps you in business as a hero should be a higher priority.”
“There was a robbery on the other side of the city. I got the hostages out, but I need to go back and look for the thieves in case they try their luck any further tonight. Yeah, you take criminal priority, which is the only reason I’m here and not stopping them. So if we can get this done?” The hero made a vague motion with their hand before resuming their fighting stance.
The villain’s jaw clenched as they kept their arms crossed.
“I didn’t realize that’s how you felt, Hero.” They said stiffly, looking away only slightly.
“What the f—are you crying?”
“No! No, I’m not crying. Of course you have other people to fight, it makes sense, it’s a big city.” The villain sniffed. “I just thought that you made time for me.”
“I–I–I am making time for you, right now. But, ah, do you want me to come back later? After I caught the thieves? If you would just put this on hold, I’ll come back, and we can pretend I caught the thieves earlier, and you’ll have all the time in the world.” They clapped their hands together. “Monologue to your heart’s content, I will listen with open ears.”
The villain turned back around, frantically wiping their face. “Really? You would do that?”
“Yep. Mhm. Scout’s honor. Second I get them, we can just restart.”
“You would get rid of them just so we could have more time?”
“They’ll go straight to jail. I will pick them up and fly them there, won’t even fight them. You will be the top fighting priority.”
The death ray powered down.
“I’ll wait right here!”
The hero nodded enthusiastically, giving a thumbs up as they flew away, not sure how to respond to the beaming villain waving at them.
Once they were out of sight, the hero squealed.
Finally, the jealousy plan was working.
They wiped away the excitement on their face as soon as they landed on the ground, needing to practice that cool and neutral exterior for whenever they faced the villain again.
Now to wait twenty minutes, enough time to catch some fake thieves, and they could go back to the villain.
The hero couldn’t wait to hear that beautiful monologue.
If you like this post, consider buying me a Kofi?

Seeing a lot of people demanding to know how this "bigeneration" thing works and saying that they don't think it makes sense and need abetter explanation is very strange to me, a part-time and proximal Whovian.
I always assume that stuff in Doctor Who just...works.
"Doctor, how is that person standing upside-down in space?"
"Time and space are interesting things!"
"Well, that makes sense, then."
You know. That sort of thing.

Okay before I do anything else with my blog, I have a question for everyone!
Are icons super important in the RP community? Should I be making some? I can, I'm just not used to using them or graphics in my RP posts, but I will if it's something that a lot of people look for in RPers!

I saw the comment on your last ask and wanted to ask what's your 5th gen theory? I know that for me actually looking at the years 5th gen should have started already but it feels like we're still in 4th gen because no one other than a few girl groups have blown up the way that 3rd groups both boy and girl had and anyone who has gotten popular has been in last year or two. Making a big three comparison exo in their 3rd or 4th year was in a very different place than stray kids or treasure now
fifth gen HAS already started! just not where or how you would think. and for clarity's sake: i don't categorize gens by group popularity, and that would be a moot point anyways because the success of previous gen groups is never going to be replicated on the same scale because of how dramatically the industry has changed.
my fifth gen theory is this: there's already starting to be a generation change in the last year, but it's being lead by smaller companies who are unable to sustain the current fourth gen performance model, and subsequently there's either going to be a delayed transition where the big four companies will be the last to debut fifth gen groups, OR there's going to be a full split where big four and other well funded companies can keep producing groups in the fourth gen method, while every other smaller group has an entirely different performance method.
the main characteristic of fourth gen has been very strong and heavy dance skills paired with difficult choreography, on a scale that's much more extreme than previous gens. although a lot of third gen choreography was probably harder on its idols' bodies thanks to the acrobatics, third gen idols were still trained as well rounded performers and were able to transition smoothly out of their stuntmen eras and still be able to maintain their group's artistic identity. in order for companies to ramp up the spectacle factor from this, instead of tricking + stunts they prioritized technically difficult dance, which has translated into the bulk of fourth gen idols being by large, probably the most technically skilled generation of dancers. however, like i've said in previous asks, that has come as a detriment to pretty much every other skill that used to be trained into idols. making the sacrifice of dance vs singing is fine for companies that have the funds to support having big spectacular cbs and have large stable fanbases that consume uncaringly, but it's more of a problem with smaller companies who are getting priced out of being able to afford cbs to even hope to match the scale that fans are coming to expect. so as a result, they're going back to training their idols as more holistic performers and simplifying choreography. i know a lot of people are not paying attention to the rookie bgs but a lot of the ones from the last year and change have been a totally different calibre of performer than the established fourth gen groups, and it's likely to continue that way. my hypothesis is that the last company to catch on fifth gen is going to be the next jype bg, and how they perform is going to be the indication of if there's going to be a staggered transition or a full split.
