#fall in love thinking the other one could never feel the same
Note
What is your opinion about the vertigo poster that Tim posted? People are saying that is a confirmation of Buck being in love with Eddie…
Im really tired about all the “will they, won’t they” and I love Lou and Tommy/Buck relationship, do you think Lou will come back for season 8 or are you of the opinion that they’ll break up on the finale?
Idk the meaning of Vertigo(tell me). But the things I know:
People was talking about "this detail"(I can name like 5 right now without thinking much) says what buddie will happen. But it never happened
Ryan literally called Eddie HETEROSEXUAL. which means now no one sees him as queer and nothing like that will happen. Especially while he still deals with Shannon and her ghost, if ever. All the talks "but Tommy/Eddie was in plan means Eddie is queer" miss the point it was on the same stage of planning as Maddie/Eddie before 2x1. They had idea, they looked at their story, talked with actors and said "no, It's not what we will do" and dropped it. So now people need to understand that in canon creators see Eddie as hetero. Ryan sees him as hetero and Tim really respects and listens to opinion of his actors about their characters (I still hc Eddie demi btw, but people need to understand hc and canon is different things and I respect Ryan's opinion)
Ryan also said it was important for him and Oliver to play how queer man comes out to his straight friend and nothing between them change. It was important for him to play it to the situation he had with his close friend to show that men can stay close as before even if one of them comes out
Lou said bucktommy are thriving during what seem like 7x9/10 shooting
Tim called bucktommy rom-com and rom-com couple stays happy together in finale
Oliver is excited about exploring bucktommy's relationship and said it exciting to work with Lou and he hopes to get to know him
Both Ryan and Oliver told that they want to show that men can be close and vulnerable how buddie are without any feelings involved
Oliver said he doesn't want the situation where queer guy comes out and it means he's in love with his best friend
Lou till yesterday was not active in cameo which means he more likely was shooting and they kept it secret bc it can be spoiling. I can't see Buck's good and exciting coming out story, when he's so smitten, end with break up in the finale
Also, bucktommy kissed right after Bobby's wedding speech, right after madney's kiss with the love song which soooooo deep connected to madney's love story still playing. They could drop the music, not show the kiss, but they did. To show the point that Buck and Tommy are falling for each other step by step. And Tommy is the one calling Buck 'Evan' and it was confirmed important(and that Lou was instructed not to call him Buck) in they way that Buck loves how Tommy calls him that and to point out how different Tommy is. Which means that they plan to leave Tommy as long term. At least try to and gather reaction from ALL the fans, not just buddie fans
Also. It's season 7. And all the seasons Buck tries to find stability in love life, settle down. And it starts to get boring and painful to see how 911 use him to bad love stories and arcs. The last season started with him trying to prove he can be good captain eventually and Bobby tells him he needs to gather some more experience and settle down at ease, before he will be ready. And it's actually time for Buck to settle down. And Tommy can be it. Person who likes him, who respects him, who runs to him, who chooses him. Buck can settle down with Tommy and be finally at ease with love and look at what else life has for him. New hobbies, new possibilities in job(not even become a captain, but for example lieutenant as somehow our show doesn't have it, they might think about adding it. Or become mechanic. Or something), new friends even
So, I'm pretty positive this poster means nothing more than Tim appreciated the, as I know fan's work(correct me if I'm wrong), and Bucktommy and Lou are here to stay and people should get use to it

Hey!! I’d love to see Thalia and Gale being domestic, if you don’t mind!! Your art is GORGEOUS.
I’d also love to learn more about Thalia’s backstory or any Gale headcannons you had!
Tumblr media
I hope this counts as being domestic I just can't resist a good nap time moment :') and I also wanted to just do doodles but I got carried away and started coloring 😭 coloring has never been my strong suit so I hope this is fine
And uaaa thank you for thinking my art is gorgeous!!! I'm honestly really glad to see people are enjoying my silly doodles here thank you!!
--- vv Thalia backstory blurb vv ---
In terms of backstory, honestly I haven't been able to flesh it out much yet! I also don't know much about dnd lore (I really wish I did) so anything I say here may not be consistent with lore :'D
However, what I have so far is Thalia used to be Thalia Adkrana, daughter of a noble family from a powerful bloodline of storm sorcerers. Despite being the 4th born child out of 5 children, since birth she's shown to be more blessed with magic than anyone in her family, powerful storms raging around her constantly when she was younger and destroying anything around her, causing trouble for her family. As she grew older, she may have logically understood how it is to keep her lightning under control, but whenever she gets very emotional her magic tends to lash out in response to her reactions. Growing up privileged and powerful, she also developed a bit of a superiority complex and an awful temper when things don't go her way, so not really a good combo when her magic gets unstable when she's upset.
Because of this, her family preferred keeping her within their property as much as possible to avoid dealing with her and to avoid troubling others, especially when one wrong outburst from her could ruin their family reputation. Growing up isolated from world didn't really help her grow and mature properly either, and her temper tantrums got worse and worse the longer she was kept in there and the more her family seemed to just give up on her. The only one she could really confide in and find comfort in was her younger brother.
Everything really changed when one day she decided to speak up against her family and demanding they let her leave the house, let her come with them to one of their social gatherings. Hells, she's been trapped in their property for 30 years at this point she wants to engage with people, even peasants at this point because she'd rather deal with them than look at the same suffocating decor for even another second. Voices and tempers rising, she grew more and more frustrated as her parents kept shutting down every argument she could come up with, and the more the storms around her grew the more she proved that her parents were right for keeping her in. Angry at them, angry at herself, thunder roared and the lightning sparks dancing around her gathered into huge bolts of lightning, surging out of her in rage as if her magic itself was screaming out for her if her words and her voice couldn't reach her family. She knew they had every good reason to not let her out, knowing her own lack of control over her own emotions - but maybe if they trusted her just once, guided her, saw her as someone in desperate need of help instead of a stain on their family name, maybe things could've been different.
But that's not how we got to this point. A loud thud of a body falling flat on the ground snapped her out of her state and right beside them lay one of their servants, dead at her feet, and as if the panic she was feeling couldn't get any worse, just close by she saw her younger brother lying on the floor, badly hurt and crying out from pain. Immediately her parents, older siblings, and anyone who heard them nearby rushed to her little brother and the poor servant, doing their best to take care of the situation and Thalia stood there silent, watching her world fall apart in front of her eyes.
The order to banish her from their home came soon after, no longer Thalia Adkrana but simply Thalia, removing her status and all the benefits that name gave. Since she so desperately wanted to go out and see the world, now the world is all she'll have and no home to return to.
Kinda really awful timing when shortly after she started her new unwanted life as an adventurer, she got picked up by a nautiloid and had a tadpole squirming its way behind her eye.
And also shortly after meeting poor souls who shared the same unfortunate tadpole situation she was facing, it's no wonder Thalia fell so hard for a certain wizard who showed her in one night how beautiful, intimate, and warm magic could be as it enveloped her whole being like a gentle embrace - that her power and her emotions were something she could learn to channel and not be afraid of, a perspective her family failed to teach her for 30 years. And even if at times she still found herself electrocuting the waters they stood on in her anger or excitement and hurting them, or maybe her temper would get the best of her again and she would unconsciously lash out at them before she could even realize she was yelling, after every argument or petty insults thrown at each other, they would still watch out for one another and care for each other and soon after they'd be sitting around a campfire laughing and enjoying each other's company.
It's no wonder once she's found a family she truly belonged in and felt safe in that her true nature finally bloomed after being suppressed for so long - a kind, lonely girl who loved being around people and helping them in all the ways she wished she could've helped her younger self ages ago, never letting anyone get left behind and given up on like she was back then.
Although being out of touch from reality for 30 years did create a lot of very awkward moments when interacting with people during the beginning of their journey, she did learn very fast how best to compose herself in public - best she could when the ones teaching her are also a couple of social outcasts but hey it's fine.
---
Whew! That's a lot actually. Idek if any of that makes sense I'm not going to proofread all that :') I also don't really have any Gale headcanons I do really enjoy reading other people's headcanons about him though!
I hope this answer is sufficient ^_^

Usually I want to avoid discourse at all costs but like,,, if I don't say this once I'll explode
Riko is the prime example of the "I was treated this way so I'm going to treat others this way" abused to abuser pipeline.
Andrew is the prime example of the "I was treated this way so I refuse to treat others this way" abused to not abuser pipeline.
(And even those two above statements are dis-including nuance that I don't have time to dissect)
Every other character seems to lie somewhere on the spectrum of this idea. Neil lies closer to where Andrew lies. Grayson lies closer to where Riko lies. Etc etc. And their positions on that spectrum are not fixed points but rather dynamic positions based on their choices made every day of their lives. Choice and agency and yadda yadda
All this back and forth about whether or not acknowledging the truth that Riko was abused erases the truth that Riko was an abuser is just missing the fundamental truth that I honestly think is Andrew's whole main Principle Of Life:
Everyone, no matter how kind they seem, is capable of the greatest atrocities. It just depends on what might push them to that point and how much they resist the temptation when brought to it. And everyone, no matter how fucked up they seem, could fall or have fallen prey to the greatest atrocities of others. Because "the shit people did to me" and "the shit I do to others" is not a fucking linear graph with a one to one ratio in any fucking configuration. People get what they get and it's not about "deserving". And people do what they do and whether they're held accountable follows the same logic as above. The universe is apathetic about human morals and humans are biased and fallible and easily manipulated when we try to uphold and enforce our morals in its stead - and humans don't even universally agree on morals in the first place so it's a fucking mess from the start.
And honestly, sometimes those people who don't grasp this idea are like Jeremy "But they're your parents, they're supposed to love you" Knox. That's a sentiment of morality, not an observation of how reality actually plays out. I see the best you are capable of and I see the worst you are capable of but I expect nothing because I don't have perfect foresight, I don't have perfect information, nor can I read minds.
Riko was a victim of abuse. Riko was a perpetrator of abuse. These two truths exist in harmony and cannot be separated. Whatever you feel or think about him after that is your fucking business and exists as separate from those two truths because it is born from you and not from Riko or any truths regarding him.
"Hurt people hurt people" is TRUE and "You'll never know the violence it took to be this gentle" is TRUE but not all truths manifest in all people but that doesn't make them less true!!! It just makes humans the canvas of infinite possibilities each born from the same finite palette of colors!
But at that point we're talking about nuance and discourse doesn't like nuance and also these characters aren't real people in the first place so imma shut up now I guess

Hannibal falling in love
Tumblr media
It is ridiculous how wrapped around your little finger he was.
From the first moment he laid eyes on you he found his new fixation. Every time you were in the same room with him his gaze was fixed on you, observing silently every detail, getting to know you before you were even introduced.
Of course he would be very careful, almost suspicious of any new person being added to his social circle. For a man obsessed with his social image he had to be cautious of any potential competitor and you were just lovely. So charming, well educated, funny, and polite.
He found you unusually enchanting. Of course he recognised your beauty but there was something less superficial about you that just pulled him in.
The feeling was known to him yet very rare as it never seemed to have a happy end. He knew he tended to be quite intense with his emotions and that never ended well so he promised himself it wouldn’t be that way with you.
It wasn’t long till you happened to be invited to the same dinner parties through common friends. How could he not observe you when you were sitting opposite of him only a few centimetre out of his reach? Every time you happened to talk he found the perfect opportunity to study you, the way you spoke, the way you smiled, the faces you made when you found something funny, stupid or ridiculous. You tried to be discreet not to offend anyone but he noticed, he noticed and he loved every expression your precious face made.
If you happened to sit next to him he would already know what perfume you wore, what scented shampoo you used everything. (And he wouldn’t mind doing some personal research about you beforehand)
With every joke of yours he found himself truly laughing and when you spoke his inner monologue quietened and he didn’t have to pretend to be listening because he actually did.
For a man like him who spent most part of his life stuck inside his head, building fortresses against the cruelty of people you quickly broke down everything while having him feeling so comfortable and at ease with you. You had him hooked.
Of course he noticed the way other people looked at you. Women and men with their envy and lust and he wouldn't be jealous if he only knew you were his.
During his sessions he found himself unable to focus on anything, his mind just replaying every conversation you two had over and over like a broken radio. Almost every night he was awake at the most unholy hours, his mind unable to rest and stop thinking about you. That was when he knew it was inevitable.
His insomnia and love for you he treated with writing love letters and sonnets, making sketches and drawings of you as he imagined you, all of them hidden and locked in the drawer of his office and his heart too.
Now not only were you dominating his every through but his whole life too.
He would take notes into his head of your interests and would say all the perfect things to keep you interested. What were your hobbies? Art, literature, music he would become an expert for you. He knew everything from Taylor Swift's latest album to the full analysis of your favourite poem. He would do and learn about anything you liked and was passionate about, just to keep you talking to him with that sparkle in your eyes. He could do it for hours, days and every minute for the next of his life.
I hope you don’t share your affections with anyone special because if he found out which he would, they would be the next missing person in town or worse.
When you became used to him and you got to know each other better he found his chance to invite you to one of his special dinners. Only that one would be even more special as you would be the only guest hence having his sole interest. He had one whole evening to amaze you with his culinary skills, deep, meaningful conversations about art, philosophy and life. At the end of the night he had you feeling it too.
And when the time came and you became his you and the whole world would see just how smitten he is.
He laughed with every joke, he listened to you carefully and everytime your name was mentioned he couldn't help but smile. Any little things that caught your eyes you would have and if you asked for the moon itself he would find a way to give it to you.
He didn’t mind, he actually loved it. That was love for him. He wanted to be your loyal servant and your beloved and feared god all at once. Could you give him this and he would give you the world.
If you didn’t however return his affections or god forbid you betray him that would be a very different and tragic(for you) story.

Words: 5.9k
Tumblr media
As the landscape grew more and more familiar, nervous and excited butterflies filled your stomach. As happy as you were to return to the camp, you had a few reasons to dread it as well. Lack of sleep, mosquitoes, sunburns.
But the main reason being, Song Mingi.
Mingi was another dance teacher around your age who had joined the camp about four years ago. You truly believed he made it his mission every season to irritate you as much as he could in the two weeks he had. Whether it be through challenging you, teasing you, or flirting with you, it was constant.
You and Mingi had an unusual relationship. The other staff and students called it a love-hate relationship, while many made bets on how long it would be before you either fought or started dating.
You challenged each other, teased and bullied, and you insulted yet joked with one another. He annoyed you, but you had to admit, you kind of missed him sometimes, often finding your mind drifting to him throughout the rest of the year.
But, you could never admit that out loud, especially not to him. You would never hear the end of it.
Your thoughts began to drift from Mingi as you pulled into the campsite. You noted a few familiar faces as you parked, your eyes landing on a tall man as he climbed out of his car. His hair was a different color for the fourth year in a row, but you could still recognize him from a mile away.
'Mingi'
You took in a deep breath as you refused to acknowledge the tightness filling your chest as your heart beat quickly.
Turning off your car you let out the deep breath, "Here we go."
Mingi's eyes scanned the area as he smiled at the other teachers and staff. The students would be arriving soon, but they weren't who he was looking for.
He started to frown as he saw no sight of you, fear creeping in that you wouldn't be here this year, but upon hearing another teacher call your name, his head snapped at the direction of the sound. His eyes finally landed on you as you smiled and waved to the girl.
Mingi scanned your figure as a smile spread across his face. Determination and confidence filled his chest as he clenched his fist around the strap of his bag.
As you spoke to the other teacher you looked around, your eyes eventually landing on Mingi. He held eye contact with you as his smile turned into a smirk. You let out a soft sigh as you looked away from him and left with the girl.
"This time." He muttered to himself, as he grabbed his bag and headed towards the cabins.
As the campers arrived and things started rolling over the next few days, you only thought about Mingi when he was around you. Which was only about a hundred times a day. He seemed to be seeking you out more often than he used to, which you found unusual and frustrating. Not just because he was annoying you purposefully every time, but because you seemed more nervous around him that years before.
Poking at the noodles on your plate, you felt your breath catch as a familiar scent filled your nose as someone sat beside you.
'He always wears the same scent.'
Feeling a shoulder press into yours you glanced to your left to see Mingi smiling pointedly at you.
"What?" You asked bluntly, making him chuckle.
"Just wondering how this years competition is gonna go."
You looked back at your food as you thought back on previous years.
The first year Mingi joined you two worked together to train the same group and won the end of summer competition. The next two years you were against each other, you won and then he won.
Mingi leaned a little closer, "Gonna try harder this time?"
You glared at him and he only smiled bigger. You knew he was just trying to rile you up to make you competitive.
You looked away from him with a soft scoff. "Why would I? You only won last year because the guest judges had crushes on you"
He opened his mouth in sarcastic offense before he smiled and leaned a little closer toward you, "Was that an insult or jealousy?"
You locked your eyes with his and he smirked. "I'm not jealous of you winning a swayed competition."
He leaned a little bit closer and you swear you saw his eyes flick to your lips, "I wasn't talking about the competition."
As you realize he was insinuating you were jealous because of the judges crushes, you felt your heart skip a beat. Before you could respond, you ears caught onto the amused and whispered comments of a nearby table of students.
"I told you they were dating!"
"I don't think they are, they look like they hate each other!"
"No they are totally dating, look at how they are looking at each other."
Realizing just how close Mingi was to you, you swallowed before scoffing in reply to Mingi's comment as you leaned away from him.
"You wish." You muttered as you rose, throwing out your scraps and heading back to our cabin.
Mingi watched you leave with a soft smile as his heart pounded, the students comments replaying in his mind.
Tumblr media
Your body was tired as the day came to an end, you always struggled getting used to this amount of work the first week of camp. You began packing away your supplies as you heard the door slide open. Looking up, you smiled as one of the younger girls hired for a training program approached you.
"Hey what's up?"
She scratched the back of her neck nervously, "Hey. I was just wondering if I could ask you something."
"Sure what is it?"
"Well... it's about Mingi."
You felt your chest clench as you stared at her for a second. Was she going to ask if you were dating him? They always ask that. She was obviously crushing on him, as many of the teachers and student's did. You weren't sure why it annoyed you so much. No, that was a lie, you did, but you refused to acknowledge the reason.
"Uhm...are you dating him?"
'Knew it.'
You cleared your throat as you stacked a couple chairs. "No, I'm not dating him. And I never have, if that was your next question."
"Oh, cool. Well...just in case, cause I feel like it might be obvious I sort of have a thing for him-" she giggled nervously and you forced a smile. "Do you uhm- have feelings for him then?"
You paused as you felt you breath catch. That was always the question that followed. And as much as you convinced yourself you answered truthfully each time, you knew deep down it was only ever a lie.
"No, I don't."
"Huh? Really?" She asked in surprise, "Why not?"
You let out a soft scoff, "He's not my type."
Another lie.
The girl thought silently to herself for a moment before nodding, "Okay, sorry to bother you!" She waved before leaving and you let out a sigh.
Mingi's chest clenched tightly as he furrowed his brow. He watched the girl leave as your words echoed in his mind. After a few more moments you walked out as well, not noticing him as you closed the door and began to leave.
"What is your type then?"
You jumped in surprise as your hands flew up to your chest, "Oh my God!" You let out a groan, "You scared me!"
He smiled in amusement at you as he pushed himself away from the wall and approached you.
You let out an exasperated breath as you realized what he had asked, "Eavesdropping? Really?"
He shrugged his shoulders, "What? I was just walking past and heard my name. I think I have the right to know who's talking about me."
You sighed again, "Fair enough, but that doesn't mean I have to answer your question."
Turning, you began walking away from him, aware that he was going to follow you.
Catching up to you he walked practically pressed up against you as he pestered you. "Come on, just a hint. What's your type?"
You rolled your eyes as you stopped, causing him to stagger away to stop himself from colliding with you.
"Not you. That's all you need to know, now stop following me." You warned as you headed towards the bathrooms.
Mingi put his hands in his pockets as he watched you leave with a soft smile. His heart was pounding as his chest seemed to ache. Did you really not like him? Was he really not your type?
Tumblr media
Your eyes were shut as you danced to the music playing. The movements were as natural as breathing even though you hadn't danced ballet in quite a while. Various thoughts ran through your mind as you moved around the room unaware you had a one-man audience.
When the song came to an end your heart jolted as clapping echoed throughout the room. You looked towards the door to see Mingi leaning against the wall with a smile on his face as he let out a soft laugh at your startled reaction.
Rolling your eyes you walked over to your phone to stop the next song from playing. As you sat on the ground to switch your shoes, Mingi walked over, crouching down in front of you.
"I always forget you can dance like that."
Glancing up at him a jolt ran up your spine at the intense stare he was giving you. You couldn't quite place the emotion in his gaze but you knew it made you heart race.
Breaking the eye contact you seemed to get stuck in, you continued switching your shoes, "What, does it intimidate you?"
He grinned and let out a soft airy chuckle and you couldn't help but smile too, knowing ballet was not intimidating in the slightest to someone like Mingi.
As you stood, you missed the way Mingi's eyes followed your every move. His heart fluttered at the sight of your smile, something that was rarely aimed at him, much to his dismay.
As you grabbed your bag, Mingi spoke again, the tone of his voice catching you off guard.
"Do you really hate me?"
You halted as you looked down at him with bewilderment, "What?"
"I always thought we had this sort of love-hate relationship, but I've been wondering recently if the love is all on my side."
Mingi almost laughed as he watched your brain seem to shut off and reboot as you blinked a few times in confused silence.
Shaking your head softly you met his gaze again with a soft frown and Mingi felt his chest clench. "I don't hate you."
He raised his brow a bit in pleasant surprise.
"You're annoying, and a menace and you drive me crazy. But, I've never hated you."
Mingi stared at you with a blank stare for a moment before suddenly standing and stepping towards you. You froze as he slowly rose his hand and wiped a strand of hair from your forehead where it was stuck. The sudden realization that you were probably sweaty and gross from dancing hit you and you suddenly felt shy.
'Why do I care?'
As Mingi continued to stare at you in silence, you swallowed before stepping back. Mingi quickly reached out and grabbed your wrist, stopping you, fearing you were going to walk away from him before he could do what he came to.
You looked between his hand and face as you quirked your brow at him.
"Do you know why I keep coming back to this camp every year?"
You frowned at him before slowly shaking your head no.
"Because of you."
Your heart seemed to skip a beat at his words. "What?"
"Because I want to see you." He swallowed nervously but continued, knowing this might be his only chance to have you alone like this. "You've never told me your number, or where you live, or how else to reach you. So I only get to see you here. So I come back."
Your heart was pounding heavy as you struggled to find you words before finally stuttered out. "That's a stupid reason."
He shook his head, "It's not, not to me."
"You want to tease and torment me that badly?"
He shook his head as he let out an exasperated sigh, "No, I just want to see you. And be around you. Do you really not get it?"
From the way you swallowed nervously and messed with the strap of your bag he knew you understood his words, but you didn't believe them. Did you think he was just messing with you? His chest clenched painfully as he took a small step closer to you.
"I like you. So much that every year I count the days till I can come back here and see you again."
You seemed to forget how to breath as you stared at him. His eyes burned into yours as he stared at you intensely.
"Don't you like me too?" His voice was soft, almost scared.
You hesitantly opened your mouth, uncertain of what to say as your thoughts and emotions that had been repressed all this time tried to escape, but the fear rejection and heartbreak tried to force them away.
Your eyes darted to the studio door as it slid open with a loud clang, revealing one of the other dance teachers. Mingi's face showed his clear disappointment and annoyance at the interruption, but the somewhat tipsy girl didn't notice as she grinned at the two of you.
"There you are! I've been looking for you everywhere! All the instructors and staff are down at the lake why are you guys up here?"
'You guys' You rolled your eyes at the attempt at including you, when her eyes were strictly glued to Mingi.
As she approached, you saw the way she glanced between the two of you, her obvious crush and jealousy showing.
She grabbed Mingi's arm as she grinned at him, "It's no fun without you there."
You felt your chest clench as you cleared your throat, "I don't feel like drinking so I'm just gonna head to bed."
Your eyes locked with Mingi's as you began to leave. He was clearly going to try and follow you, but the girl tightened her grip, stumbling a little, clearly on purpose, as she started gigging.
As you made it out of the studio, you let out a shaky breath as Mingi's words repeated in your mind.
'Don't you like me too?'
As you stared up at your ceiling that night, his question repeating over and over in your mind, you let out a soft sigh. Finally giving in to the thought you had pushed away for years.
'Yes, I do.'
The next week seemed to pass by in a blur. You had gotten so busy with your group you hadn't seen Mingi as often. You feared seeing him around every corner. Afraid he might find you again and force you to reveal your true feelings, something you weren't sure you were ready for.
Though, at the same time, you felt panic creeping up on you at the realization that the camp was almost over. Then he would be gone again for a whole year.
Coming to a decision you grabbed a piece of paper and a pen as your students prepared for the final competition at the end of camp.
You smiled brightly at your group as they cheered happily after being announced the winners. Your eyes scanned the crowd of students before landing on Mingi. Your heart jolted and your breath caught. He was clapping with a genuine smile on his face as he stared at you.
A smile spread across your own face before you quickly looked away, turning your attention to the students, your heart hammering nervously from the brief moment.
Mingi's eyes had been glued to your every movement as he tried to make his way through the crowd. Students and teachers were rushing around as everyone boarded busses and cars to return home. He didn't care to say goodbye to anyone but you, but everyone and their mother's seemed to need to speak to him, something he had found amusing in previous years, but now it only frustrated him.
He desperately needed to see you before the end of the camp. He couldn't let another year pass without being around you, not again.
His anxiety grew as you disappeared from his sight, lost in the crowds around him. His eyes darted to every face he passed by, but you were gone.
"Mingi!"
He turned at the sound of his name, but felt disappointment rush over him when another teacher approached him.
"Hey, where's Y/n?"
"That's why I'm here, they left already." Mingi's face fell as his heart dropped, "They were running late for their flight, but, they told me to give you this."
Mingi took the note, quickly opening it. His eyes scanned over the city name and phone number listed on the paper and he smiled letting out a soft breath. He nodded to himself as his mind already began turning, determination stronger than before.
Tumblr media
You seemed to be constantly on edge after you left the note for Mingi. You read the text one more time as you walked towards your dance studio.
'See you soon ;)'
You knew it was from Mingi, but hadn't replied. Nor had he sent another message.
A week had already passed since the camp ended, and you consistently stopped yourself from sending him a message asking what he meant. You told him the city where you lived, but why did the message make it seem like he was gonna show up? It's not like you gave him your home address.
Entering the studio you smiled and greeted the front desk clerk before entering the studio. Spotting one of your coworkers she grinned and ran up to you.
"Hey, have you heard about the new dance teacher they hired?"
You shook your head "I knew they were hiring but I didn't know they found someone."
She nodded her head fervently, "They did and he's so attractive!"
You rolled your eyes with a soft laugh as you started setting your stuff down. "I want to ask him if he's single but that might be too forward right?"
You eyed her, "A bit."
She sighed, as she leaned against the wall. Hearing someone walk into the room your coworker gasped lightly before tapping your arm aggressively. You met her eyes as she motioned her eyes behind you.
'Must be the new guy'
Turning around, your eyes met with a pair of striking and familiar eyes, only a couple feet away from you. Mingi grinned knowingly at your shocked expression as he approached you.
You were stuck in stunned silence as Mingi let out a soft chuckle before taking another step closer and leaning in, "Miss me?"
Your coworker looked between the two of you, "You two know each other?"
Mingi nodded as he explained, your coworker nodding along in interest. Mingi's eyes never left your face, and you could hardly find the strength to breath as your thoughts raced.
'So, this is what he meant. But how did he find me? And why did he get a job here? He's not secretly some weird stalker serial killer right?'
As one of the lead dancers came in looking for Mingi, you made your escape to the locker room, aware he watched you leave. Disappointment was obvious on his face at missing the opportunity to talk to you properly.
You were on your toes the entire day, aware Mingi was in a nearby room as you wondered when you would see him next. You would have to talk to him. Before, you were too shocked to think properly, but now you needed to know what was going on with him.
When the day finally ended after seeming to drag on a lot longer than normal, you didn't see Mingi around the studio.
'Did he leave already?'
Frowning, you exited the studio, heading towards your car, slowing down as you saw Mingi leaning against the door.
As he spotted you he grinned, straightening up as you approached.
Before he could speak you broke in, "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I had been looking for a new job anyways and after you left me that note I was surprised to learn we really didn't live that far away from each other. Twenty minutes to be exactly."
As shocked as you were to hear this, you continued your own line of questioning. "So you applied for a job here?"
He nodded in reply.
"How did you know I worked here?"
"One of the few things I knew about you was that you worked in a dance studio. So once I knew you lived here, I asked around."
You squinted at him and he furrowed his brow. "You do realize this is stalker-like behavior right?"
He let out a laugh and nodded, "Yeah I realized that too but..."
"But?"
"But, you didn't answer my question."
You furrowed your brow, "What question?"
Stepping closer to you, he leaned down, looking into your eyes, a habit he seemed to be developing recently. You breath caught as he scanned your face.
"If you like me too."
Remembering back at the camp in the studio room, you swallowed nervously as you stared silently at him.
A small smile played at his lips as he let out a soft breath. "So, I'll be hanging around until you tell me. " Standing back up to his full height, he reached up and ruffled your hair, "See ya."
As he walked away, he left you in stunned silence beside your car as your heart and mind raced.
'Is he really going to stay here until I answer him?'
Looking back, you saw him at his own car. He met your eyes and paused with a smile as he winked at you before getting into the car.
You swallowed again before quickly getting into your own car, breathing heavy as your mind raced with what you should do as you laid your head against the steering wheel in exhaustion.

The following week was a new form of torture you had not been expecting. Mingi spent every moment at work he could teasing and openly flirting with you. Clearly tired of holding back his affection and not caring who else knew.
You poked at your food during lunch as your friend drilled you for information on Mingi.
"So you've known each other for a few years?"
You shrugged your shoulders. "Sort of, we only ever saw each other during the dance camp."
She hummed as he looked around, a smile forming on her face. "Well he's clearly obsessed with you. "
You scoffed softly, though your heart skipped a beat. "Don't be ridiculous."
She caught your eye before motioning her head behind you. Looking back curiously towards the table the other's were sitting at, your eyes locked with Mingi's as he had been staring at you.
His lip quirked up as you quickly looked away, your friends smile widening, "Do you still think I'm being ridiculous?"
You cleared your throat as you tried to steady your hammering heart, "Yes, now be quiet."
She chuckled as you messed anxiously with your food, now aware of his eyes on the back of your head.
By the end of the day, you had forgotten about lunch, and even Mingi. Up until you found him waiting for you at your car after work.
He had the same smile plastered on his face as you approached, but you saw the way his eyes scanned over you, an almost worried gaze on his face as your leg bent stiffly as you walked.
"What now?"
He chuckled, "I just wanted to see how you were, I heard you twisted your leg earlier. Does it hurt?"
So it was worry on his face. Your heart fluttered but you tried to ignore it.
You looked down at your leg as you kind of shook it around. "It's a bit stiff but fine, nothing serious."
He nodded his head as he let out a soft sigh of relief. "Good." He cleared his throat as he glanced around, "Wanna get dinner?"
You felt your chest tighten as your stomach flipped. "Dinner?"
He nodded and you realized just how hungry you were.
Thinking about how little food you had at home, and how much you dreaded cooking anything you nodded, "Sure."
As you saw the brief surprise cross Mingi's face you realized this might not be the best idea. As his face was quickly covered in a happy grin you held back, guilty at the thought of changing your mind now.
You stared into your drink as you played with the straw, too afraid to look up as you could feel Mingi's gaze burning into your skin.
Finally giving in and glancing up, you saw a soft sparkle behind his gaze at he looked at you, making your heart seem to flutter.
"Why do you keep looking at me like that?" You couldn't help but ask, mostly to break the growing tension.
He smiled softly, "Because I like you."
You swallowed hard, butterflies filling your stomach. You began fiddling with your hands nervously, something Mingi noticed immediately.
Giving into your curiosity you spoke softly, "Since when?"
He rose his brow, "Huh?"
"Since when have you liked me?"
He looked down at the table as he thought for a moment before looking back up with you with an almost shy smile. "Since the day we met."
You leaned forward in surprise, "What?" You glanced around, a bit embarrassed at the volume of your own voice. Lowering your tone you looked at him, "Four years ago?"
He chuckled, "Yeah. The first time we met you were bright and bubbly but fierce, and you challenged me on my first day. You told me I was replacing one of your past teaches so I had big shoes to fill." He smiled as he stared at you, "Ever since then, I was intrigued by you, and before I knew it, I was always thinking about you. And I guess I wanted you to notice me, and since you only ever acknowledged me when I was annoying..."
"You decided to make it your entire personality?"
He laughed as he nodded, embarrassed by his own behavior. You couldn't help but laugh along as you thought back on that first summer you met him. He always seemed really nice and caring, yet was always so different around you.
"I always wondered why you were like that around me and no one else."
"You noticed?"
"It was kind of obvious." You chuckled, "I just thought you didn't like me very much. And as the years passed I just figured you enjoyed annoying me for your own fun I guess."
He frowned as he let out a sigh and shook his head in annoyance at himself. "I'm sorry. When I finally realized I had been like that for too long, it was too late."
Mingi looked back up at you, and you seemed to get lost in each others eyes for a moment, the tension began to build before you broke eye contact and looked away. You heart was hammering heavily in your chest as your mind raced about the decision you needed to make.
As Mingi walked you back to your car, you looked over at him almost shyly, "Thanks for dinner. I'll buy next time." You hesitated at your own words as his brow rose before he grinned.
"Did you just ask me on a date?" He teased making you roll your eyes.
"Don't be cheeky."
He chuckled as you climbed into your car. He remained by your car as you started it, raising his brow in curiosity as you rolled down your window and looked up at him.
"The answer to your question is yes by the way."
He frowned in confusion as you smiled almost teasingly at him.
"I do like you."
His eyes shot open wider as realization formed on his face. Before he could reply you rolled up your window and pulled away, leaving him to watch after your car in stunned silence.
As your car disappeared, he started grinning to himself as he pumped his fists and jumped around in excitement and celebration at his requited feelings. Letting out a loud sigh of relief, he got into his car, cheeks aching from grinning as he thought about what to do now.
Your own smile tugged painfully at your face as you drove home. Your heart seemed to never slow down as the adrenaline of confessing your feelings remained throughout the night, eventually leaving you exhausted in bed as you slept restlessly, waiting for the next day to come.
Tumblr media
Arriving at the studio earlier than normal since it was your turn to set up, you felt nervous in your own skin. Part of you wanted to avoid Mingi strictly out of shyness, while the rest of you wanted to see him as soon as possible.
You shook your head with a soft sigh as your own flip-flopping feelings. As you set up the studio, waiting for the other's to arrive, you wondered if he was feeling and thinking the same things. Would he be his normal self? More forward? Would he avoid you?
Your question was answered as a voice suddenly spoke right next to your ear, "Morning."
You jumped away out of surprise, seeing a grinning and chuckling Mingi beside you.
"Mingi!" You gasped out with a breathy chuckle.
The doors opened as a few of the others showed up with bright smiles and greetings. You and Mingi met eyes as he smiled knowingly at you.
Suddenly grabbing the equipment in your hands he smiled at you, "How's your leg?"
You nodded with a shy smile, "It's fine, no pain."
He nodded in relief as he helped you finish setting up, the tension between you more casual than anxious.
Mingi couldn't stop looking over at you, hoping to catch your eye each time. He could barely sleep last night, his thoughts full of you and where today might lead. You may have confessed you liked him too, but it was just that. Now he was determined to make you his.
As one of he studio managers called Mingi to help him, he looked over at you before stepping closer, leaning down so he was close to your ear.
"I'll see you later."
As quick as he was there, he was gone, leaving your cheeks burning as you realized he had pressed a swift kiss to your cheek before walking away. So fast you barely had time to process it. You looked around, seeing no one had seen anything, you let out a shaky breath, your heart hammering as you smiled giddily to yourself.
Mingi, being the new guy, ended up running errands all day for an upcoming charity event. You had barely seen him, even as the day came to an end.
As you did at the end of each work week, you spent a couple hours after work practicing alone once everyone else had gone home. As you moved to the music, your thoughts bounced from the event, to Mingi, to your work schedule, but mostly to Mingi though.
Eyes closed, you spun around, gasping as you collided with something. When your eyes shot open, you saw Mingi holding you against his chest, arms wrapped around you as he had caught you when you staggered away.
"Mingi." You muttered out in surprise.
He smiled softly as he looked at you, "Sorry, I got so caught up in watching you I didn't realize you were coming towards me." He smiled sheepishly and you giggled softly.
"It's okay."
His eyes trailed down your body and you felt a shiver run up your spine.
"Are you sure you should be dancing?"
You smiled, knowing he was worried about your leg.
"It's fine, I promise."
He pressed his lips together tightly but nodded. Realizing you were still pressed up against him, hands on his chest, you started to push yourself away, only for him to pull you back.
You questioned him with your eyes and he smiled softly as he slowly leaned his face closer to yours. You froze in anticipation, his eyes almost burning into yours.
"Are you going to avoid me?"
You furrowed your brow and shook your head, "Why would I?"
"It's become your motive every time we get closer."
Realizing this was true you looked down, gently squeezing the cloth of his shirt in your hands. He tightened his grip on your arms just enough to get you to look back into his eyes.
Bringing his hands from your arms to your face, he gently cupped your cheeks as he smiled at you.
Your breath caught as his eyes slowly wandered around your face, lingering on your lips before he met your eyes again.
"I've waited four years for you. I can wait as long as you need. But, to be honest, I don't want to,. So..."
Your voice came out as a whisper as our heart pounded in your ears. "So?"
"So be with me now."
You stared at him in silence for a moment, your eyes gazing into each others before you gently nodded your head.
A grin slowly spread across his face, causing you to smile in return.
He began caressing your cheek with his thumb as he slowly leaned forward, closing the already narrow gap between you. His lips pressed softly against yous, motionless for a second before he leaned in more, gently deepening the kiss for a brief moment before pulling away.
You were stunned by the kiss, and Mingi gazed into your eyes, almost worried about how you would react. As you smiled shyly at him, his smile widened before he pulled your face close again.
He paused briefly just before your lips met, your eyes locked before you both leaned in, kissing each other. His hands caressed your cheeks before he moved them to wrap around your waist, pulling you close to his body. As your lips melted together, you wrapped your arms around his neck allowing yourself to be lost in the kiss.
You weren't sure how long you had been kissing, but when you finally pulled away you were both out of breath. He pressed his forehead against yours as he gently swayed you back and forth.
"Does this mean we're officially together now?"
You chuckled softly as you nodded, "Yes."
He grinned as he leaned his head back almost dramatically. "Finally!"
You laughed as you gently smacked his chest. He pulled you closer and you laid your head against his chest. Thinking for a moment you chuckled.
Mingi looked down at you in curiosity, "What?"
"I wonder how everyone at the camp is gonna react next year."
He grinned. "I doubt anyone will be surprised."
You smiled, "I might become enemy number one to all of the other teachers."
He chuckled, "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
"Promise?"
He nodded happily as he held you closer, resting his head against yours, "I promise."
xx End xx
Not sure how I feel about the ending but I didn't have a plan for it lol so it is what it is.

Eddie had always been a sight to see.
His beauty, the kind others would die to witness up close, had once belonged to you. Since the night you met, standing next to the bar in that neon glow, every passing day had been another image, another secret desire to see him again.
But you were no longer his.
And now here you were, staring at each other at the threshold of a castle you once had permission to roam.
You must’ve been a sight to see, makeup dripping down your face and hair completely soaked. Shaking from the rain, feeling it seep into your skin. Not the perfect image that graced magazine covers and sashayed across stages. No, you were human for once.
No longer a machine.
“It’s been a long fucking six months,” Eddie said finally.
God, his voice. That hint of gravel, exhaustion weighing on him in the dead of night. The way it still caressed your heart that you were convinced wasn’t beating anymore. You wanted to reach out, to pull him into your arms and weep.
But all you could say was, “I know.”
“And, what,” he continued, as if you’d said nothing. “You just show up out of thin air?”
“I know.”
“Are you insane? What are you doing here?”
I miss you. I love you. I never should’ve walked away. We’re both in too much pain to keep doing this to ourselves. I miss you. I love you. I’m sorry.
But it just sat there, heavy in your throat as it tried to make its way into your mouth. It was no use. There were too many words, too many speeches you could throw out to try and convince him that you were telling the truth.
And none of it slipped past your lips.
At the sound of cracked lightning, Eddie seemed to finally register the storm and shook his head. “Ah, shit. Come in, you’re soaked.” He moved away from the door, allowing you to tiptoe into the foyer of a house that felt so foreign to you now. “I’ll, uh, get you a towel.”
Eddie slammed the door before walking right past you. Not sparing you a glance, but still venturing down the hallway and out of sight.
Immediately, you crouched down and tried to remove your soaked Keds, unable to stop yourself from cringing at how heavy your socks even felt. Soaked through, dripping onto the tile the moment they were off.
You kicked them next to the door before you let your eyes wander around the space, absorbing the fact that nothing had been moved. Nothing had changed. It was as if it was stuck in your time of wild, of oasis. That smell, his smell, invaded any and every thought you had. The one that still left you breathless, tinged with romanticism, having to hold onto the nearest doorframe to keep yourself from falling over.
And in the quick flash of lightning rippling across the walls, you saw a little black cat scurrying towards you.
“Hey, Oz,” you mumbled, crouching down to scratch his head. Watched his mouth open in a silent coo, totally oblivious to state of your relationship with his dad. If there was one at all.
There was a flashback that you couldn’t stop, that moment Oz scratched at that back door. Waiting for you and Eddie to get out of the pool, that beautiful summer night laced with something resembling forever. You had no idea back then. And there was nothing you could’ve done to change the course of your future.
When Eddie slowly made his way back, he held the towel out for you. Slowly, you rose back up, all the while staring at the object in his hand. The same towel you always grabbed whenever you’d stayed over. The same one he swaddled you in that night. God, you felt sick.
“Thanks,” you said anyways, taking the time to wipe off.
“James let you in, huh?” he asked, turning back around and walking towards the living room. You took it as a sign to follow, your feet on the freezing floor making you shiver.
“Yeah, Scott helped.”
“Awesome,” he said sarcastically before sighing. “Well, uh, why’re you here then?”
Before you could get the courage to answer him, you glanced over at his couch. And you felt silly. It was just a couch, after all. But there were so many nights attached to it, each cushion committed to your memory. You knew where it dipped the best and where you sank like quicksand. There was even an ice cream stain, curtesy of you, still visible from where you stood.
And you could’ve sworn you heard your mingled laughter in the quiet.
Wiggling your toes on the tile, you stared down at your feet. “I wanted to talk.”
“About what?”
Your eyes snapped back up to meet his, frustration flaring at the absurdity of that question. “About what? Really? What do you think I wanted to talk about?”
Eddie rolled his eyes. “Jesus, of course I know what you wanna talk about. I just thought you could, you know, say it yourself?”
“I’m sorry!” you yelled. “Okay? I’m fucking sorry.”
“Oh, yeah?” he challenged, crossing his arms over his chest. “Really?”
“Yes!”
He leaned in, toward you. “What are you sorry for, hm?” he mocked.
“I’m a fucking idiot, Eddie,” you stated, dropping the towel to the ground. “A goddamn idiot. I screwed up and I’m sorry.”
“That all you’re sorry for?”
“Eddie, no. Jesus Christ. I just…” You shook your head, placing your hands on your opposite shoulders. Tried to let the pressure calm your mind, ease the flood. But the tide was already taking your thoughts back to the ocean. You were already turning back into sea foam. “I don’t know where to even start, but… I shouldn’t have left. I shouldn’t have walked away. And I should’ve said this stuff a long time ago.”
“You have a phone,” he said with an edge to his tone. “You could’ve called.” He looked up before he sniffled. “I don’t get it. Sometimes, I sit in bed and I just…don’t get it. Like, at all. You liked that I didn’t listen to the world. You liked that I wanted to be with you. You liked that I stayed when it got bad. When did all of that shit stop being enough?”
“Eddie…”
“When did I stop being enough?”
“That’s not it—”
Eddie interrupted, saying your name with a sigh. “Like, you made me more of a secret. Kept me from being able to support you. And I get that you wanted privacy, but that doesn’t mean you can just treat me like that when everyone already fucking knows. Like, why bother?” His head shook as he sighed again. “Not to mention, you did all the shit your exes did to you. Like, what kind of game is that? What makes you think that it’s okay?”
“I know,” you agreed. “And I don’t think it’s okay. I didn’t even realize all of that until tonight and that’s exactly why I’m here.”
“But you don’t get to just…walk back in here at two in the morning and say you want me back.”
“Yeah, I…” You looked down, absentmindedly picking your nails. “I know that. I do. It’s just…your songs. What you said. If I could, um, hear your knock, brought back by my revery. Each tap, each rap still committed to my memory. But that’s—”
“Up to you, darling,” he continued. You lifted your gaze to his face, to the tears welling in his eyes. “It’s all up to you.”
You took a step forward, feeling your eyes spill with running water.  “And…and you said…” Without explanation, you reached into your crop top and pulled out the lighter.
“The lighter,” he whispered. Eddie seemed as transfixed by the discovery as you were, eyes trained on the small object. Because it wasn’t just a lighter. It wasn’t something just left in your house, forgotten the moment it went missing.
It was more than that. A symbol—Eddie’s devotion personified. Something so personal, given to him in a time of despair and deflation, left in your possession. Only asked for once your memory was the only thing left to cling to. Once your memory was the only association left to give it.
“I found it tonight, randomly. It was under the couch.” You tried to look away from his intensifying gaze, but you couldn’t. You just couldn’t. “It just…it felt like a sign.”
Eddie whispered your name, pausing for only a moment longer before he straightened. Shook his head, ridding whatever thoughts remained.
“No—Fuck!” He scoffed, rubbing his eyes. “No, you can’t just fucking do this. Fuck, you just…you make me fucking crazy.”
Now you were stepping closer, compelled by his denial. How could you make him understand? How could you convince him that you were telling the truth?
“Eddie, I promise. I promise I mean it.”
“But you left!” he exclaimed.
His fingers still rested over his eyes, like he was terrified to look at you. Like he was terrified by his reality.
“I know, but—”
“And I’ve sat here and fucking cried my stupid fucking eyes out every night because all I see—all I ever fucking see at night is you leaving. Just walking out and acting like none of this mattered.”
“Eddie, I’ve felt the same—”
“No,” he shouted, hands immediately coming down and fisting at his sides. His glare made you nauseous, eyebrows sinking lower and lower into his face as his lip quivered. “No, you do not get to say that to me. Not now. Not when you made that choice. You can’t try to fucking empathize with me when this is your fault.”
“And I regret it every second of every day!” you shouted back, taking another step forward. “You heard my album! You know what this has done to me. I feel like I’m dying inside every single fucking night. I get no sleep because I just think about you and how much I fucked up. I did it because I thought I was protecting you. And you know me. You know I’m a people pleas—"
“Nah, man,” he interrupted, shaking his head as he let out a breathy chuckle. The bitter smile on his face made you shudder. “I thought I knew you. For just a second. Just a fucking, shit, I don’t know, a miniscule second, I thought I knew you. But that’s not true, is it? Hm?”
Speechless. That’s the only way to describe how you felt in that moment, staring at the man you knew was the love of your life and hearing him question your character. Like he’d already made up his mind about you. Like his album was the bargaining and the depression—and now he was in a state of rage, finally seeing you as the villain of his story.
“You—"
“Oh, and by the way,” he interrupted again, shaking his head at you. Like he knew what you were going to say. Maybe he really did. “You said you were doing it for me, but you didn’t.” You watched his tears start to fall. “You did it for you. Or to hurt yourself or whatever. I don’t know. Point is, it just wasn’t for me.”
At last, the silence fell.
Two sets of eyes continued to meet again. Not in the way old friends do, but in the way severed lovers do. A stare laced with the kind of pain that lingered in the tissue of muscles, racing through veins like second nature. And just like wounded animals, you could both see the other was injured.
You probably should’ve just walked away. Was there a point to any of this? You were led by blind faith, by this notion that he’d swaddle you into his grasp and kiss you and ask for your hand in marriage. That all could be forgiven if you just locked eyes. If you just told him…
If you just…
Told him…
“I was afraid to tell you what I want,” you admitted.
Eddie’s breath seemed to even out, exasperation starting to seep in. He threw up his hands and asked, “What’s that, then?”
“I want you.”
Immediately, his mouth fell open.
But you put up a hand.
“No, Eddie. Listen to me. I want you. Maybe forever. No, you know what? Not maybe. I want you forever and fucking ever. I want to spend the next however many years navigating this shithole and make music and travel and be there for each other. Go to award shows and congratulate each other. I want to touch you in fucking public and not give a shit about what anyone says. I want to move in with you and drive each other crazy.”
You stopped trembling, shoulders back as you finally reached him. Like you were only now greeting him, finally gazing into those beautiful brown eyes of his. Though they were still glassy, you didn’t cower away. Instead, you took a deep breath and continued.
“And then I want you to get on one knee and ask me to marry you. A bouquet, a veil, a lover lying await in the shade. You wrote that. You fucking wrote that. And, you know what? Yeah. I want that. I want it more than anything in the world. Let’s get a few more cats. Let’s get married somewhere with our friends and just get high and dance and laugh. And I want to, no I will write you love poems and songs and show you first and then show the whole fucking world…”
You paused, taking a deep breath as you made sure he heard every word. “How much I love you.”
Eddie instantly caved, his shoulders hunching as his eyes flickered between yours.
“I will spend every miniscule second of every day making sure you never doubt how in love with you I really am.”
He exhaled, arms slightly extending. As if he was about to reach for you. And you wanted to reach back, wanted to watch the sparks flicker as your fingertips met one another. But you had to keep going. You had to make him understand.
“You know exactly who I am, Eddie,” you stated. “You always have. I should’ve never, ever made you question that.”
His silence made you want to drop to the ground, to beg him to believe you. Because you couldn’t decipher his expression, couldn’t decode the words circulating around that beautiful fucking brain of his. He didn’t make it any better, eyes searching your face over and over again. Like he was assessing the evidence. Reading back the notes.
But after what felt like hours, Eddie sighed.
“You’re crazy, you know that?”
You exhaled, all breathy and relieved. “I know. Jeff said the same thing on the phone earlier.”
“Should’ve known that bastard would’ve ratted me out.”
“He said you’ve been holed up here for a while.”
“Yeah.”
“I understand why.” You tried to lower your heart rate as you said, “I’m sorry I didn’t say I love you back. I didn’t want to say it and then just walk away.”
“I thought you did, but then…I just…didn’t.”
“I’ve been wanting to tell you I’m in love with you since I went to Pittsburg to see Mary, Este, and Becky after my tour.”
“But that was only, like, a month after we started seeing each other.”
“Mhm. It was a Saturday.”
“Funny, ‘cause I’d been wanting to tell you I love you since the very first night we met.”
The first smile you’d been able to manage today broke across your lips. Slowly. Gently. “But we didn’t even know each other.”
“I didn’t care. I was already fucking crazy about you.” Heat rose on your cheeks the second you saw the corners of his mouth begin to lift. “And I wanted to tell you I was in love with you about, uh, two weeks in. Right after you came and surprised me at my show. When I crashed backstage at your show—”
“In Seattle?”
“Yeah. I thought about telling you then, but I didn’t.”
“That was only a week later.” Eddie nodded. You let out a groan, slapping your hand over your face. “I’m so stupid.”
“Far from it,” he whispered, fingers reaching up to move your hand away. Your eyes connected once again. But you were weak at his touch, the first in six months, the word kryptonite flooding your thoughts. “But you did make a stupid mistake. There’s a difference.”
“One more chance,” you said. “Just give me one more chance. If I fuck up again, you never have to see me again. I promise.”
Eddie’s grasp on your hand tightened, nearly red hot against yours. He hadn’t let go. He hadn’t lost contact, still anchoring himself to you even as the air grew thick with uncertainty.
But the most peculiar thing happened. He raised his right hand, crossing the barriers between you and caressing your cheek. A whimper left your lips at the tender touch, feeling absolutely weightless as he smiled at you again.
“Come running back, consider your exile foregone,” Eddie whispered, tightening his grasp on your cheek. Thumbing your lower lip, eyes flickering from your mouth to your gaze, he finished. “I choose you in the low glow of dusk, love you ‘til dawn.”
He kissed you then, his forgiveness dripping into you like honey. Saltwater-stained lips added to the familiar flavor, taking broken halves and molding them back together. Your hearts didn’t mold the same way, but they did shift into something new. Something beautiful. Something golden.
That night, Eddie made love to you with your hand always twined with his. A welder with the scorching stroke of a furnace, binding himself to you in every way humanly possible. Pouring apologies and promises into one another, letting the scars scab over while new skin grafted over the wounds—saliva being the cure. Touch being the remedy.
There was nothing “resembling” forever anymore.
It was only that. It had only ever been that.
Forever.

Hello !! I was wondering if I could request a selkie! Reader x Raiden, where they are allies, but raiden doesn't know that the reader is a selkie and while training together and Raiden finds the readers seal skin and the reader tried to seduce him to get it back. Raiden has feelings for the reader and falls into it and ends up confessing to the reader, who then explain the situation??
Smooth and Selkie
Prior notes: Ah yes selkies, the original furries…I have a fear of the leopard seal from Happy Feet. Those things bellow or something.
Pairing: Raiden x Selkie! Afab reader
Warnings ‼️: WE’LL CARRY ON
Tumblr media
You have traveled far from your usual harbors and shores. It’s fun to travel to new places and it’s even more fun to see new people. One swim got you all the way to China near the Fengjian Village. A young man with a straw hat caught your eye. Oh how badly you wanted to meet him.
But you can’t meet him when you can only make some grunting sounds. Smacking your stomach won’t bring the right attention to you. Making a banana shape won’t do it either but you look cute at least. Yeah, keep rocking back and forth you look silly. You had to wait for a full moon, then you had the chance to meet that young, handsome man.
A full moon came and you were able to shed your seal skin. Your beautiful figure was being appreciated by the moonlight. Your voice was sweeter than a siren’s call. All you need is some proper clothes and you can finally go out to see that lovely man that the villagers call Raiden. Guess you are staying in Fengjian longer than you expected.
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
From the beginning Raiden was tempted by you. How couldn’t he be tempted? You were just so pretty and he could listen to you talk for hours. Something about your voice made him feel warm in his stomach and heart.
The kindness you both showed each other would make any passerby’s tooth ache from how sweet it all was. Damn near gave Kung Lao a stomach ache as if he ate too much candy.
You were fascinated by his fighting skills and his care for gardening. Raiden was fascinated by your knowledge of multiple places and your love for the sea. He could sit there and listen to you talk for hours about which fishes are the tastiest and different sort of Celtic mythology.
Soon enough you felt the desire to train and learn from him which he was happy to hear. Why not learn to fight, it will do you good. It also allowed you more time with Raiden.
Just remember to keep your seal skin safe and nearby. You can’t risk anyone getting their hands on it. Not even Raiden.
Usually you left your seal skin in a bag or hidden in a bush that was nearby. And you did the same today. Except your bag fell over and your seal skin was peeking out. It’s hard to miss the soft, spotty-patterned material. But it’s okay! Maybe you can hide it again once you and Raiden are finished training. If you actually figure out what happened before it’s too late.
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
By the end of training you two were beat. Huffing and puffing as if you two just had—I’m sorry I won’t finish that statement.
Even when you were a little sweaty Raiden saw you as so beautiful. Your smile never faltered. You were just happy to spend time with him on such a nice sunny day.
“You’re doing excellent. I’d say you’re doing better than my sister. Oh but don’t tell her please.” Raiden said in a joking manner.
You giggled softly, “You’re too kind, Raiden. I’m going to get some water, you coming?”
“No, I think I’ll just sit here for a bit. I just need to catch my breath.” He answered.
You nodded before walking off to get yourself some water. Raiden stayed sitting on the floor, basking in the sunlight while appreciating the nature around him. Then something caught his eye. Something white was poking out from the bushes. Oh how strange.
Raiden got up and started walking over to investigate. When he got close he saw that it was a furry material. He looked at it with a perplexed expression as he reached down and grabbed it.
Your seal skin felt so soft to him. The pattern on it was unique. Though he has no idea what animal this came from. It doesn’t feel fake so he knew it was real. Before he could even notice the flippers that were part of the skin you were already back after getting a drink of water. Your eyes widened as you see what Raiden had in his hands.
Oh no
This didn’t seem good. You were always warned about men taking your seal skin. They will keep it and never return it and you will be forced to stay with them. You don’t want to be forced to love. Raiden is a nice guy but you’re still scared he might know what he is capable of now that he has your seal skin. You had to get it back. The only way you know how to do that is by seducing him. Your heart was pounding as you made your way over to him.
“What are you doing over here, silly? I thought you wanted to rest.” You said in a voice that was as sweet as honey.
You placed your hand on his face and made him turned towards you. You already got a reaction out of him. You saw his shocked expression while feeling his cheek start to warm up. This is the first time you ever touched him in a loving manner.
“I-I just saw this thing and I…” He was stumped.
“You shouldn’t be getting distracted by silly things, Raiden. Though you do look cute when you’re curious.”
That was a genuine compliment and Raiden felt that. His heart just did a backflip hearing that. To hear that you thought he was cute made him so happy. Just look at that dopey smile in his face.
“How about you put down that seal skin and spend some time with me?”
He was about to do what you said but paused once he realized you said seal skin.
“Seal skin? How do you know this is a seal skin?” He asked as he went back to looking at it.
You panicked and made him face you about before he could see the flippers, “It was just a wild guess haha.”
You were getting close to Raiden without even realizing it. Your chest was pressed against his arm. You were looking up at him with a panicked smile on your face but he overlooked that fact. His brain was being fried due to the close contact.
Don’t mess this up again. You have him wrapped around your finger. Push it.
“Just let it go, you don’t need to hold onto that thing.”
You started bumping your nose against his. It’s a way that you show affection. And he is really affected by this affection. You could hear his breathing grow heavier. You seemed even more adorable to him than you were before. You’re really putting in the work to get your seal skin back.
Raiden’s heart might just explode. He didn’t know you liked him that much. He thought he missed some signals beforehand. He would feel stupid if he did.
“If you love me you’ll let the seal skin go. Don’t you love me, Raiden?”
Love. Love! LOVE! OH MY GOSH YOU DO LOVE HIM.
“Yes! Yes! I do love you!” Raiden was so ecstatic that it surprised you.
“I thought you would never ask. I didn’t want to push any boundaries. I don’t know what made you start flirting with me now but I’m very glad you decided to do it. You know you didn’t have to do all that though, you already won my heart the moment I saw you.”
Finally, he dropped your seal skin. He immediately hugged you which prevented you from grabbing your skin. You were also in shock. One, you didn’t hide the fact that you were trying to seduce him. Two, he thought this was genuine.
You feel so bad now. You need to spill the truth and tell him what you were doing.
“Uh, Raiden, I need to tell you something very important.”
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
Oof, that was difficult.
You told Raiden the truth about you. You told him that you are a selkie and that he was holding onto your seal skin. You explained your worries and how you were just trying to get it back from him.
He understands but he did get bummed out that you weren’t actually trying to flirt with him. You were doing it out of desperation. He apologized for worrying you. You apologized for misjudging him on his intentions.
“So that means you don’t actually like me.” He said it in such a somber tone it felt like your heart was being choked after hearing it.
He looked like a sad rejected puppy who didn’t get adopted by a loving family. He felt embarrassed too since he admitted he likes you.
“No! I do! I really do like you! Please believe me, Raiden.” You practically tackled him to the ground trying to proved that you did like him.
You would never think about breaking his heart. It would kill you. You came on the land just to be closer to him. You’re worried that you have ruined it all and now he won’t like you. You didn’t tell him the truth and you deceived him. How will he ever forgive you?!
“Thank the elder gods.” He let out a sigh of relief. Clearly, he forgives you. He’s happy that your feelings were true.
So what if you’re a selkie. Won’t change the fact that you have a lovable personality that brings Raiden closer to you. If anything it makes you even more unique to him. Who you truly are won’t change the fact that he will love you still, human or seal.
After notes: I love listening to seals make noises. Listen to these stupid idiots. Look at that banana form. Glorious creatures of nature.

Day 12 - Upside down kiss
Characters: Satan x fem!MC
25 kisses challenge Masterlist
Main Masterlist
CW: asshole cat, accidental nudity, pre-established relationship
.
MC had mixed feelings about the height of this particular tree. While it brought an enormous shade to the courtyard, offering shelter to both students and animals during storms or abnormally hot days, it also made the resolution of certain… peculiar situations close to impossible.
For instance, no one without wings or unbreakable bones should climb the tree.
So, MC.
In her defence, however, it should be taken into consideration that going up wasn’t her intention. Rather the opposite, actually, she wanted the cat to come down.
She’d never seen an animal like that, with a fur so lustrous it shone under the Devildom’s eternal moonlight. Toxic green eyes stared at her while she cooed and called for its attention, not offering any type of response. And maybe it was her crush’s delusional love for felines taking over her actions, but MC couldn’t see other solution beyond using magic to lure him down.
It didn’t work, of course, because when did something ever work for her? Summoning toys and treats not only was useless, but it also made the cat look at her with disdain, and when she tried to summon the damn creature itself, the words of the incantation and her intentions mixed up and did exactly what she didn’t want to do.
Before MC knew it, the branch where the cat was resting met her face at vertiginous speed. The bark scratched her hands when she desperately grasped it and an infestation of what looked like a mutation of fire ants quickly crawled over her skin, their bites slowly covering wherever they could reach.
Her own weight would be her own downfall; she could notice her fingers struggling to hold on. So, grimacing at the sight of the fire ants, she hoisted herself up and hugged the branch with her legs. Thankfully, the uniform skirt protected her most private and sensitive regions, but her butt didn’t have the same luck.
A wave of panic made her sweat, the bites on her hand, her ankles and her calves more noticeable than ever. Meanwhile, the cat stared at her with amusement.
If the cursed creature even thought of biting or scratching her, she would send it to oblivion and she would not care.
“MC?”
His voice, although it sounded like heaven at the moment, also made her feel deeply embarrassed.
She let her head fall and looked at Satan upside down, not finding herself able to enjoy his handsome features. Blood was quickly rushing down and, added to the pain from the fire ants and the harsh edges of the bark, she wasn’t feeling too good anymore.
“What are you doing there?”
Always the curious mind and slow to empathise in this type of situations, Satan walked until he was below her, where he stayed with a hand on his hip and another one on his chin.
“Proving my stupidity, clearly” MC said in a snide remark, swallowing a sob when her fingers throbbed too much to keep holding on.
In a moment of desperation, she slowly moved her legs so she could hook them over the branch. Her stomach tensed for a couple of seconds while she let herself hang upside down and her hands immediately flew to her skirt to keep her underwear hidden.
It was uncomfortable, mortifying and painful and the moment she stopped, MC wondered why the hell she did it in the first place.
That damn cat.
“Well, no need to be like that” he murmured with a sad pout “I just wanted to know if you needed any help”
MC sighed, but her head was too filled with blood to feel entirely guilty.
“Yeah, I need it… I’m sorry, Satan”
“It’s okay, I understand. That doesn’t look comfortable”
“It isn’t! And it’s starting to hurt!”
“Well, don’t panic” he shushed with slight impatience, looking at her figure and searching for a way to help her “I think I can grab you and help you get down”
Satan didn’t wait for a response, lifting his arms to firmly grip her ribs. The contact made her feel an extra amount of warmth in her face and she prayed he didn’t feel her fastened heartbeat, but judging from his face, not only he did, he was also enjoying it.
“C’mon, don’t look at me like that. Are you telling me you don’t like this as much as I do? You can’t hide from me, MC”
“You’re infuriating”
“Sure” he laughed.
“Can’t you go faster?”
Satan chuckled again before suddenly frowning, a blush covering his entire face. He avoided her gaze for just a couple of seconds before looking at her with bashfulness.
“I will… With an incentive…”
He didn’t say anything else and MC realized he was patiently waiting for her permission. With a slight swing, she moved forward and kissed him.
It was weird, not an ideal first kiss, but they didn’t care. His fingers curled over her skin with gentleness, the air coming out of his nose tickling her cheek.
Before she could think about it, she grabbed fistfuls of his hair, somehow softer than she could ever imagine.
Then, a piece of fabric fell down. Cold breeze caressed her upper thighs.
Gasping in horror, she got away from him.
“My skirt!”

Reader who hides basically everything about themselves from everyone so Lynx has fallen for a carefully crafted facade, shenanigans ensue
I might have to think a bit harder for this one, hmm. Realistically Lynx would have noticed it during the early years of your friendship since I don't think 7 and 8-year-old kids are great master manipulators but for the sake of the ask let's say you guys have met a bit later in life when you have already meticulously crafted your personality.
Your lovely facade
Lynx Andromeda (Yandere oc) x reader
Her darling has hidden her real self from the world, from her, a thick veil of lies covering a mystery...can true love seep through the fabric?
CW. general yandere behavior, manipulation, gaslighting, angst.
Tumblr media
She's never met the real you, in all those years spent together she only ever saw the mask you swore would never fall.
You were so perfect, too perfect perhaps. Her love must be the reason, she thought, she was so enamored she couldn't find a single defect in you...only small, odd cracks that sometimes shined through your persona. She was so happy when you would laugh in that one specific way, it felt so genuine and it always lasted a bit too long, it made her question if all those other times were even real, was it truly you?
She had her suspicions, yet she could never pinpoint exactly what you were hiding. Maybe you were just that charismatic and lovable. Never clumsy, never making mistakes, never stuttering...were you even human? A vampire? No, she would have felt it, and not even they could compare to your impeccability.
Then one day it happened. Something big must have been going on in your life, it stressed you out so much you just couldn't fake it as good anymore; the cracks became like foggy windows to her, and all it took was a closer peek for the house's foundation to crumble. No one else noticed but she, it was an eye-opener. How could she have been so blind? It was all an act, of course it was.
The person she loved was nothing but a mask, a carefully crafted facade meant to deceive...and be an intriguing challenge for her. Of course, she was hurt initially, how could you not trust her with the real you after all that time? I mean, she's been doing the same, hiding her true nature as a vampire and her incredibly manipulative plan to make you hers, but that was different, she had her reasons. She's not a hypocrite, not at all, why would anyone think that?
Either way, it was too late now, the recipient of her love might have been fiction but it's your destiny to be hers, so it'll just seep through until it reaches and finds its fated destination. 'You' wasn't real, but you still stuck with her through thick and thin even when she couldn't explain what was transpiring in her life, your friendship was real. She wants to love the underneath as much as the surface. It's as if a predatory instinct has arisen in her, a desire to tear every layer of defense you have at your disposal. She'll slowly chip away at your mask until your true self is naked and exposed to her, every weakness, every vulnerable spot, every embarrassing secret, she'll know it all. Even if you beg to be left alone, to just let you keep pretending, she'll relish in the fact that she's finally seeing your true colors, even if those colors are salty tears streaming down your face.
"Oh my dear, if you didn't want to be found, then you shouldn't have been hiding. It's in my instinct to chase and bite into those that escape."
If you are the total opposite of what you've shown yourself as, she won't care. She's worked hard and after the deep and meticulous analysis of your character and past, she'll feel even more compelled to own you. When someone makes a discovery, it's usually named after them, right? So it's only her right that you accept to marry her and take hers.
Tumblr media
I loved this request, it made me think a bit more about Lynx's personality. It's been fun! Thank you for the request, hope you like it!

EDIT: This is a repost from a few days ago, because I hated the fact it was hidden for no reason.
Ok, here’s the first of my stupid JJK fanfic concepts.
The first one was ‘fix it’, for a relative use of the word, where Suguru, after killing the village, does call Satoru for help. He doesn’t know really what kind of help he’s asking for, or even what Satoru could provide, but he is being the bigger person here by asking, right?
It was supposed to be a comedy where Satoru and Shoko scramble around, trying to cover up what Suguru had done. Suguru is not actively helping it this. He’s been convinced to maybe not go and kill all the non-sorcerers, for the twins he had rescued to have a good life at least. But he won’t lie about what he did if someone gets too close to ask, and the twins love the fact they were saved by him and want to brag whenever they could. Satoru and Shoko have to make up so many lies.
Yaga: What happened to the village?!
Suguru: Huh? Oh I kil-
Satoru: -killed the curse! Nasty thing it was, setting the town a blaze and then blowing it up. There’s not even a house left.
Yaga:…. The damage looks like your red attack, Satoru.
Satoru: What? No. What? Ha! No. I wasn’t even there!
Yaga: Then how do you know the houses are gone?
Satoru: …. I read.
It ended up not really funny enough for me? And I also didn’t have much of an idea of how to continue it. Under the cut is what little I had lol
It started with a phone call in the middle of an empty town.
Well, actually, it started a few days before that, with a conversation in an empty classroom.
“You’re back early.” Suguru noted with dull surprise as Satoru walked in. ‘Dull’ seemed to be the only way he felt now a days, and looking at Satoru, he would guess the other boy felt the same way, with how exhaustion seemed to cling to him.
Still, Satoru managed to smile at him, much brighter than Suguru had been capable of lately. “Hey, Suguru!” He said, falling with all his weight in the chair meet to him. The chair tilted back at the force before falling back to all fours. “The higher ups messed up on the ranking of the last curse they sent me to.”
Suguru hated the flash of fear he felt, the most realized emotion he has had in what felt like months, even though he knew nothing would harm Satoru. “Oh?” He asked, in a calm that he didn’t actually feel. Satoru laughed. It didn’t sound like an actual laugh, almost grating against his throat.
“Oh yeah.” He huffed. “A grade 2. They sent me after a grade 2, Suguru! I don’t even have the words to express how outraged and offended I am right now.”
He didn’t sound outraged and offended. He just sounded tired. Still, Suguru settled in, waiting for the rant from his friend that was inevitably coming.
Except, Satoru didn’t. Satoru fell quiet, looking him up and down from behind his glasses.
“I skipped out on sightseeing to maybe catch you before your next mission.” He said. Suguru looked at him in surprise, and maybe a little pleased. Still, Satoru didn’t look happy. “I didn’t mean to get back so late, so imagine my surprise to find you in an empty classroom in the middle of the night.”
“Huh?”
“Suguru.” Wow, he had never heard Satoru sound so disapproving. “Suguru, it’s three am. And you’re sitting in an empty classroom. What’s wrong?”
What wasn’t wrong? Somehow Suguru didn’t Satoru would appreciate that answer.
Also, he hadn’t realized the time. He had sat in there to take a break before going to get dinner, having to work up the nerve to enter the admittedly pretty sparse cafeteria area.
“…Haibara thinks I’m a good person.” Suguru said at last, unable to help himself. Satoru looked at him in surprise, glasses sliding down his nose.
“Uh?” He tilted his head with a frown. “Well, duh. Course he does. That’s because you are a good person, Suguru.”
Suguru had nothing to say to that. Satoru’s frown deepened as the silence stretched on.
“…. Suguru?” He asked almost hesitantly, as if Satoru Gojo was ever hesitant in anything. “Do you… feel like you aren’t a good person?”
He shouldn’t talk about this. He shouldn’t bring it up. He shouldn’t even think about it. But his best friend was here, in reach, in a way that he hadn’t been in a while.
“I think… I think I hate them, Satoru.” He said hoarsely. Satoru paused.
“Eh? Who?”
“Them. The-The Mon-“ Suguru cleared his throat, looking away. “…the non-sorcerers.”
Satoru leaned back in his seat. “Oh.” He said quietly, like he was surprised. He didn’t say anything more.
“Didn’t you feel like this?” Suguru asked desperately. “Last year? When-“
He cut off. Last year, when Suguru found his not dead best friend carrying Riko’s lifeless body, looking at him with equally lifeless eyes, while all those-those cult members just clapped around them at a young girl’s death.
‘Should we kill them all?’ Satoru had asked him. Suguru had answered ‘no’ at the time, but now-
This time, it’s Satoru that goes silent, staring at him for a long moment. “….not really.” He admitted after a while. Suguru gulped, his curses burning in his stomach like acid. “I didn’t feel really anything last year, when I asked. I was pretty out of it. I don’t… think I could actually hate anyone.” He sighed, stretching his long legs out in front of him. “That sounds exhausting to care that much, honestly.”
“Oh.” Suguru said, quietly, and then nothing else. Satoru didn’t let the silence settle this time, leaning forward with a sudden burst of energy.
“Ok!” He clapped his hands, the noise echoing in the empty room. “So you hate them! Let’s put a pin in that for the moment!” He smiled, a little stretched thin, and made a motion with his hands like he was pinning something to a cork board.
Suguru frowned, Yuki’s voice circling in his head. This did not feel like something he should ‘put a pin in’ right now. This felt like he should figure it out as soon as he could, to let one side win out before it tore him apart. “Satoru I-“
“Nope!” Satoru, the annoyance, put up a hand to silence him. “It is much too late for this! So, Haibara thinks you’re a good person, and you do not agree. What do you want to do about that?”
“I thought we were ‘putting a pin in it’. “ Suguru grumbled, crossing his arms. Satoru shook his head.
“You miss understand me!” He huffed. “It’s like you never listen! I know you, Suguru. Ignoring all this ‘hating non-sorcerers’ crap, there’s something else bothering you, right?”
Eh? Honestly, not really. The ‘hating non-sorcerers’ thing was taking up a large amount of his daily bandwidth.
But he could see what Satoru was aiming for- something else to focus on. When the main problem was too much, then let something else be the problem for a bit. It was a tactic usually used on Satoru himself, or Shoko on occasion when her medical classes got too much, but this was the first time it had been used on Suguru himself. It took him a minute to think past his bigger issues as a result, so far out of his comfort zone as he was.
Finally, he settled on, “Fine. I’m worried about Haibara, but it’s finally my own downtime and I’m exhausted. Not only that, but now you’re here, and we never get to hang out anymore.”
“Huh? Worried about Haibara?” Satoru sighed. “Yeah, the higher ups are shit about curse classification. And Haibara’s just a second year too.”
“We’re just third years.” Suguru felt compelled to say. Satoru laughed like he told some great joke, which maybe he did. He was only 17, but he hadn’t felt like a kid in a long time.
After a long moment of nothing but the sound of Satoru’s laughter, he calmed down, leaning forward on his knees as he took deep breaths. Then, he stood up, stretching as he did so. “Well then. Come on.”
“What?” Suguru hurried to stand up as well, to catch up to Satoru as he walked out the classroom door. “Where are we going?”
“To go check on Haibara, of course.” Satoru said, like it was obvious.
“Uh, no? Did you not listen to me?” Suguru asked, closing the door behind them. “I said that I was exhausted and that it was my off day!”
“And that you wanted to spend time with me. I heard you, I swear!” Satoru said, waving a hand. “But considering I found you at three am in an empty classroom, I’m going out on a limb here and saying that you won’t be sleeping tonight.”
Suguru didn’t have anything to say to that. Satoru kept talking, regardless of his lack of answer.
“So, let’s be productive and check on our little Kōhai! We only have two of those, so we gotta protect what we got!”
“Nanami will never like you.”
“Rude! Also probably true.” Satoru laughed, this time sounding much more genuine. “So, look. Well sleep on the train, and then hang out in town after checking on Haibara. And being out means that we can’t be assigned missions all willy nilly!”
They absolutely could. They had cell phones for a reason, and Yaga had their numbers. But Suguru could see the appeal to thinking otherwise, so he didn’t argue.
Satoru then threw something over his shoulder, forcing Suguru to catch it. “Here, catch.”
Suguru opened his hand slowly, falling into step with Satoru as they walked through the empty halls. It was a hair tie- more specifically, it was Suguru’s favorite hair tie, that he thought he had lost ages ago. He frowned, even as he reached up to pull his hair into a bun.
“Why are you stealing my hair ties?” He asked, making quick work of his hair with practiced movements. “What, want little space buns in your hair?”
“Hah! I would rock that and you know it!” Satoru said, hands in his pockets. “I just found that one, you know? And then I thought it would be a good luck charm!”
“That’s so lame.” Suguru rolled his eyes.
“I don’t think so.” Satoru said, with a hum. “I found you tonight, didn’t I?”
Suguru didn’t have an answer to that, and so he stayed silent.
———-
In the middle of a lifeless town of his own doing, Suguru called Satoru.
He was only half aware he was doing it. Standing in the middle of the street with only the half eaten corpses of his victims, and the groaning of his curses swirling around him, he was moving more on autopilot than anything else. Everything seemed both hazy and incredibly clear for the first time in a while, like he was no longer fighting himself but also having a major fucking breakdown.
He had a problem, and so he did the only thing he could think of- calling Satoru. Maybe he shouldn’t be doing this, dragging Satoru in his actions, in his consequences. Maybe he should have done this ages ago, asking Satoru to fix his problems like everyone else in their world seemed too. The thought left a rotten taste in his mouth, somehow even worse than the curses he ate.
A large part of him didn’t actually expect Satoru to pick up. Satoru rarely could answer when he was out on a mission, the veils doing too good of a job in cutting communications, and often forgot to return the missed calls later. So Suguru listened to the ringing once, twice, three times, waiting for the dial tone to start as he watched one of his curses slowly make its way to a body blankly.
Then the ringing went one for a fourth time, then a fifth, before being interrupted by an unexpected click and, “Hey, Suguru!”
Suguru’s mouth felt dry. The curse in front of him reached the body. He didn’t have the care to stop it from sinking its half formed claws into it.
“I got told you were on a mission.” Satoru continued. “Already done?”
Yes. Curse exorcised, curse ingested, village dead. Two out of three things weren’t bad.
“….Suguru?” Satoru’s voice turned confused, sounding almost small over the phone. “Is this a butt dial?”
Oh, right. He should probably answer.
“Can you even hear me-?” Satoru started to asked, only to be cut off.
“I killed everyone in town.” Suguru said bluntly. He finally shooed the curse away from the corpse once it started making a mess. He wanted no chance for any more monkey blood to get on him.
“….huh?” Satoru asked, more of an intake of air than an actual question. “Come, uh, come again? What village?”
“The village I was sent to.” Suguru answered simply, and then wondered why he was doing this. Why did he call Satoru, as if that would help anything.
“Ok, can I ask why?”
“Those monkeys had two girls in a cage, blaming them for what was happening.” Some of the anger came back, remembering what the monkeys had done, and he let his curses go back to the destruction they had been causing. It still didn’t cut through the haze as much as add to it, but he couldn’t bring himself to care about something like that.
“Ah. The pin fell out.” Satoru said, much, much to calm for the situation. Was he in as much of a haze as Suguru? Unlikely. Actually, was this how Satoru felt last year, after killing Fushiguro, standing there surrounded by monkeys clapping for a young girl’s death? Satoru had said that he hadn’t felt much of anything, and maybe Suguru felt like that too. Or maybe Suguru was simply feeling too much, no longer at odds with himself but still drowning in emotion.
“-killed everybody?” Satoru’s voice filtered back in. Suguru blinked, not realizing that he had zoned out, and taking a step back in disgust as some blood splattered onto his shoes.
“The two girls.” He answered, in what he vaguely hoped was an actual answer to whatever Satoru had asked. “I saved them.”
“You certainly did something.” Satoru muttered, voice muffled. Suguru could almost see what he was doing- running around, doing something else while his cell phone was shoved between his ear and his shoulder. Then, clearer, Satoru said, “Suguru, listen, I’ll be there in just a second. Just… don’t do anything else, ok? Put the pin back for a minute.”
“The pin-?” Suguru tried to question, only to be met with the dial tone. He made a face, half heartedly, and slid his phone shut. He couldn’t believe the asshole hung up on him-
The air shook. Suguru held his breath, almost unconsciously, as the cursed energy of the town seemed to spark, dancing around him in ways that made his curses go haywire. There was almost a faint taste of ozone on his tongue, familiar, before everything snapped violently back into place, just like it had been.
Just like it had been, except for Satoru standing there, panting like he had overextended himself. Suguru blinked, mildly interested.
“You figured out how to do that?” He asked. Satoru’s head snapped over to him, like he hadn’t noticed him standing there before, as his breathing got under control.
“Not really.” He said with a half grin, obviously wanting to brag about his new abilities, even as his head tilted to the side to take in the mess Suguru’s curses have left. “This was my first time going so far. But you know what they say- Necessity breeds intervention!”
“I didn’t know you knew that saying.” Suguru answered easily, feeling both more grounded now that Satoru was there, and more out of control at the banter in the middle of a massacre. “You can actually read.”
Satoru pouted, forced, as he walked over. He avoided the bodies and blood easily. Suguru was a little jealous, the monkey blood starting to cool on his clothes.
“So mean Suguru!” He whined, glasses slipping down his nose as he gave him a once over. Satoru made a face. “You look like shit, and it’s not just the blood. When was the last time you slept?”
When was the last time he slept? He couldn’t think of the answer, but he didn’t want to tell Satoru that. He opted to say nothing, which actually might have been the worse thing to do, judging by the expression it caused.
“The fact that you won’t say is terrifying.” Satoru said, pushing his glasses back up. “Was it before this mission.”
Definitely.
“….before Haibara’s mission?” Satoru asked a bit more hesitantly, when Suguru stayed quiet. Suguru still didn’t answer, but that didn’t stop Satoru from looking frustrated and dismayed. “Oh my god. Suguru, what the fuck. No wonder you snapped and killed this village.”
“The monkeys deserved it.” He grumbled, looking away. He didn’t need to justify himself again- Satoru knew why he did it, why he had to do it. Satoru sighed.
“I told you to keep a pin in that!” He snapped, making that same stupid motion of placing a pin in something that he made a few days prior. “Whatever. Where are these girls?”
The two girls (that he still didn’t know the name of, fuck) were safe in a bed in the inn. The same inn where he had checked into what felt like years ago, but was in all honestly simply the night before. Before… everything. He pointed over to it, seeing Satoru follow his finger to the building. It was the most he could do, energy failing him now that someone else was there to take over.
One by one, the curses around them disappeared, going back inside of him as he lost the concentration to keep them out. He could tell Satoru noticed, judging by the way he looked around.
“Suguru.” He looked down, staring as Satoru reached forward to grab his hand. “This is very important. Did you ever tell the school about the curse from Haibara’s mission?”
He shook his head slowly, confused. There had been no time to do so. They had gotten to where Haibara’s mission was just in time to knock the younger boy out of the way from what had been probably a killing move, and then exorcised the curse quickly, in a way that Nanami and Haibara’s simply weren’t capable of. One hit of Red from Satoru and the curse was easy pickings for Suguru to eat, as much as he didn’t want to. When the four of them made it back to the campus, Yaga had new missions for him and Satoru immediately. Suguru never got around with telling anyone about the new curse.
(He briefly thought about the train ride home, with Haibara’s hero worship awkwardly directed at them, and Nanami’s mutterings about just leaving everything to him and Satoru, instead of risking their own lives. Suguru’s mouth felt dry again.)

i just caught up to wind breaker manga (the satoru nii one) and i desperately need to rant abt it
let's start from the fact that i'm not a fan of this genre of manga. the only other delinquent series i've actually read was t*kyo r*vengers but we shall not speak about this one and it certainly didn't leave a good impression of this type of manga on me. so imagine my surprise when i tuned in to the first episode of wind breaker and i found myself tearing up by the end of it, let's just say that it was quite unexpected.
the thing that surprised me the most about this series is the heart that it has. yes it's cheesy, yes it's cringe at times, yes the premise of the town and the school is so silly it might just fall apart if you start looking at it too closely. but the series manages to build the sense of community within this place so fast and so well that i never actually found myself questioning any of that.
another thing that was a really nice surprise was how kind the series is, both with its characters and with the themes it builds itself on. the main one of course being opening yourself up and learning how to trust others. every time we see a character struggle with that it tugs at my heartstrings so much i end up barely able to read the chapter cause my eyes water immediately, especially when it's about sakura himself.
sakura, oh my dear sakura. i could sing him praises for hours i fear so i'll try to keep it short. he's just incredible. he's truly the heart of the story in every sense of the word. he's so kind! he's such a good person, even if he doesn't believe it or doesn't know how to properly express his care for others! he's so lovable from the start, even before you see him grow into the person he is at the current stage of the manga. and he keeps growing and changing and becoming the person he probably never thought he could ever become before he came to furin. and it's all because of the people around him that accept him and let him grow at his pace, even if he makes mistakes or doesn't do things exactly right immediately.
i love the slightly more recent imagery of comparing him to a plant that started to grow since he joined furin. it started in the stretch between the keel arc and the red lights district arc when he decided that furin is the place that he belongs in and we saw a little sprout, but i feel like it's gonna come to full fruition in this arc. it's pretty clear to me considering that endo literally compares him to a flower and his whole thing is to try and set sakura on fire (metaphorically of course... i hope). it's probably gonna be contrasted to umemiya who's literally a gardener and under whose care and leadership, directly or not, sakura was finally able to grow because he was nurtured by those around him. in this case the main person who allowed that to happen would be umemiya as he's the one who made furin into what it is now. also, i've seen quite a lot of people be worried (?) about sakura potentially going with endo to protect furin but idk man i don't think that would happen. the angst potential is incredible but he was literally calling out that girl in the red lights arc (i'm sorry i forgot her name, it slipped my mind cause i've read like 90% of this manga in two days) for... basically doing just that. giving herself up so that others could be safe without thinking about their feelings. i feel like he's probably gonna take that lesson and apply it here.
speaking of which, i love this whole theme of passing down knowledge and advice on how to handle things that are new to you. first it's kotoha telling sakura that he needs allies to be at the top of furin, that he should start facing people that want to be there for him and even the small things like telling him to just say "leave it to me" when someone asks for help. and then, in the keel arc, he uses the same advice he was given before and gives it to someone else who's also struggling with quite similiar things to him. then there's him learning how to rely on other boys in his class and going to kaji for advice, who's very clearly meant to be kind of a parallel to sakura. kaji's went to somewhat similiar things, he's just further down the path of figuring out who he is, what he can and can't do that sakura is (or at least that was the case when they talked). so he gives sakura advice, one that was given to him before by hiragi when he was struggling as a newly made grade captain who felt like he was wholly undeserving of the trust that people placed in him and felt like he's gonna dissapoint them. he knows exactly what sakura is struggling with so he can help him the way he was helped before, the same way that sakura helped nagato before.
i have a lot more thoughts about this series but they are not sorted out in my brain in any way yet so i'm not gonna say anything more cause this on its own is messy as hell

Good Luck, Babe! Part 2 (Ellie Williams, TLOU)
Tumblr media
Good Luck, Babe! //Ellie Williams, TLOU//
Part 2 (Part 1 here)
(Inspired by Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan)
@dynsdiary made a post about Ellie x closet!reader Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan and I couldn’t go to sleep without writing it so this is not super well edited. Then @fictionalgap mentioned a happy ending to I had to write a part 2 lol
Word count: 2k
CW: Profanities, allusions to sex, internalized homophobia, drinking, minimal editing
With tears blurring your vision you watch Ellie leave. Her hands are in her pockets and she is walking with her usual swagger, but almost stomping, and at a quick pace. She should have done this a long time ago, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. It’s heartbreaking to see Ellie disappear into the night, but even more so knowing how hurt she is. You force yourself to watch her go, as a punishment for all that you’ve done. It’s the least you can do to try and repent for your sins.
The other bar patrons standing around don’t pay much attention after the yelling stops, but you still wish you could get the hell out of town and never return. For both your sake, and Ellie’s. Not that running away is what you really want. Ideally, Ellie would take you back, her arms out like an angel, which is what she would be if she ever forgives you. But Ellie has never been one to forgive or forget. You want to be Ellie’s girl, for everyone to see, but you are too late.
In trying not to blow up your life you’ve set fire to the one thing that actually made it worth living. Yes, you still have your friends and family, but Ellie falls into both of those categories. She knows you better than anyone, because no one has ever made you feel as comfortable as she does. Ellie makes you laugh harder than anyone else, wipes away your tears, and gives you everything she has. Though you give her the same, you've always done so behind closed doors. Ellie doesn’t always know what to say, but that has never stopped her from trying. Even if she has to resort to using puns as a distraction from whatever you are feeling.
That argument sobered you up quite a bit. You would shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling, but Ellie was right, it’s only a temporary solution.
Going home immediately would be ideal. However, Ellie’s house is on your way and she is already angry enough. Having to see you would probably just piss her off more. That girl has been through more than enough. Even if she had time to cool off, the sight of you would only be a bitter reminder of everything that’s gone down. Leaving in 10 minutes will give her more than enough time to get home before you even start walking and prevent any unnecessary interaction.
You felt nothing when you kissed guys. The kisses you’ve shared with girls had sparks. But kissing Ellie ignited the brightest, most colorful, fireworks.
Ellie is the only person you have ever loved, but you’ve had quite a few crushes on girls over the years, and even a few flings, despite having convinced yourself you just really wanted to be their friend or were just messing around. They were all special in their own way, but would never compare to Ellie.
As you sit and wait you decide it’s time to make a confession. You owe it to yourself, and to Ellie.
“I’m gay,” you whisper out loud. Then you whisper it a few more times before you can finally say “I’m gay” at a regular volume. You would yell it at yourself if it weren’t for the other people hanging around, you’ll have to do it when you get home. What’s the point of exposing yourself when the only reason to is gone?
Thinking about the future Ellie had described forces you to ask yourself what do you really want in life when it comes to love? You’ve been pushing who you are down so hard that you haven’t ever been able to think about it before. You would never allow yourself to even dream, because it made you feel sick to your stomach.
Finally allowing the thoughts to flood in, there is much less to unpack than anticipated. There really is only one thought. Ellie Williams.
You could’ve had everything, but you were too immature, too insecure, to take what was being offered to you. The only way you could forgive yourself would be if Ellie did so first, which she is not known to do. Not that you even have a right to her forgiveness, after everything you put her through. So however many years you live, is how long you will be hating yourself.
Sure, there are other girls out there, but none of them even quite like Ellie. You may be young, but she is without a doubt the love of your life. Or she was, now she is nothing more than the loss of your life. Ellie will move on one day, and you will have to watch from afar, grateful that she has found the happiness she deserves, though it will kill you to watch that happiness come from someone else.
Ellie Williams is just about the only thing in your head and you know she won’t ever leave.
After ten minutes you walk home, feet shuffling, shoulders hunched, head hung low. When you turn onto Ellie’s street you cross to the other side, avoiding close proximity. Your heart rate increases exponentially the further you walk. You smell weed, Ellie must be out smoking on the front porch. You look straight ahead and veer into the darkness, out of the illumination cast by the street lights. Silence had been your goal, but in order to stay in the darkness you had to step through a bush… and it rustles. “Fuck” you whisper to yourself. Without a doubt, Ellie’s hypervigilance hears the sound.
“Who is that? Why are you skulking around in the dark?” Ellie’s voice calls across the street. You can tell she is suspicious and ready to start a fight.
“I-it’s me.” You step back into the light. “I figured you wouldn’t want to see me.” You panic and take off at a run. “Wait!” Ellie calls and you stop dead in your tracks. That was the last thing you expected. It would have made more sense if she had cursed you out. Slowly, you look over your shoulder to see her standing up, holding onto the railing and leaning over it ever so slightly.
“I want to talk to you,” she grumbles, crossing her arms, just loud enough for you to hear.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve just crossed through someone's backyard or something. I’ll do that from now on.”
Ellie shakes her head and takes a hit, then slowly exhales a cloud of smoke. “That’s not it.”
You turn around to face her. “I know where and when you hang around town. I promise I'll stay away.”
“Just come over here,” she say and motions with her hand. You can hear bitterness in her voice, but not the anger you expected.
You walk over and stand in front of Ellie as she sits down on the steps. She continues smoking as her knee starts to bounce. “I’ve decided to give you the chance to talk. But only one chance.”
You gulp, feeling the weight of the immense pressure.
“I know you won’t forgive me, and that I don’t even deserve it, but I still have to tell you how fucking sorry I am. I’ve made you, the unbreakable Ellie Williams, cry, and that’s not fair. You deserve someone who loves you for the world to see, without caring what they think. Even though I’m ready now, I know I'm too late. I'm a fucking fool. I wanted to stop the world just to stop the feeling, so I had to stop you, because you are my world. I should have called it love so that you didn’t have to call it off.”
Ellie’s eyes are wide as she bites her lip. She pats the spot next to her for you to sit down. You sit as far away from her as you can and avoid looking directly at her, only able to see her in your peripheral vision.
Legs spread casually, and elbows resting on her knees, Ellie starts her explanation of her uncharacteristic behavior. “Normally I would cut off anyone who hurt me this badly. But on the walk home, I remembered that you aren’t just anyone.” Her audible disdain is all but gone, replaced by a sense of yearning.
You can finally take your first deep breath since before the argument. “Thank you for taking the time to talk to me, I know this can’t be easy for you. I really appreciate it.”
She just nods as she takes a drag. “You’ve been thinking too, haven’t you, about everything I've said.”
She has managed to make you laugh a little, the way only she can, something you thought you would never experience again. “You know me so well, don’t you. But yes, and you were right. I could kiss a hundred boys in bars, I could even kiss a thousand girls in bars…” you trail off.
“Well kissing girls is kind of the whole point, guess. All though I was thinking about just one girl in particular…” Ellie sounds so disappointed.
You finally look over at her and meet her mesmerizing gaze. “I could kiss every girl on the planet, but not a single kiss would matter unless it was with you. When I wake up in the middle of the night, and think about you all those years ago, I want it to be because I’m watching you sleep in our bed in our house. I’d listen to you breathe, and smile at the way your nose twitches when you are dreaming. I’d be grateful that I’ve gotten to spend my life with you.”
Ellie’s breath hitches and she searches your eyes like a human lie detector. “Did you really mean it, when you called it… love?”
“Yes. I love you. I really really love you. I’m so in love with you that I was afraid of it. But I also love you enough to stop making excuses and coming up with stupid reasons.” You look out into the darkness and yell, not caring who hears, "I'm gay and I’m in love with Ellie Williams!”
“I love you too baby.” No tone is left in her voice aside from an air of wonder when Ellie laughs and puts her toned arm around you, pulling you against her warm body.
“You’re like an angel,” you whisper, lost in her beautiful eyes.
“If I’m from heaven I can’t imagine what you think hell looks like.”
“It’s full of men,” you sigh.
“Fair enough,” Ellie chuckles.
“So are we.. something?” You murmur.
Ellie places a gentle kiss on your forehead. “I don’t know how you haven’t gotten it through your pretty head, but I’m absolutely in love with you. All I’ve ever wanted was for you to be my girlfriend and show you off.”
You reach out and stroke her freckled cheek. “Then show me off. Let’s go back to the bar. Show every guy I kissed that I’m your girl. I want everyone in town to know that I’m the Ellie Williams' girlfriend.
Ellie’s eyes light up and she bites back a smile. “If I’m the Ellie Williams than you are the most amazingly beautiful girl there ever was. It’s really the least you can do, let me emasculate every sorry bastard in town, they’ll be shitting themselves knowing the best girl we have is mine.”
You nod shyly. “Yeah. You deserve a girl that’s proud to be yours, and I am.”
Ellie kisses your temple before taking one last drag from her joint. The two of you walk together, her arm around your shoulders and yours around her waist.
“I’ve always wanted to dance with you, can we dance together?” You ask shyly.
“Of course baby,” she tells you with a dreamy look in her eyes before giving you a quick kiss.
The two of you are all giggles and smiles on the way back, though it doesn’t stop Ellie from teasing you and telling you owe her big time.
As a happy couple, you two approach the bar and no one outside even takes a second glance at you, too occupied by their cigarettes and drunken conversations. You walk through the door, ahead of Ellie, holding her hand as you push through the crowd. Any man that would normally pay attention to you does, but the only person who you take notice of is your guy friend that you had promised a date to. Oops, you’ll have to deal with that at some point but now is a time to celebrate.
You quickly look back at Ellie and smile after accidentally making eye contact with him. “I really want to punch that guy in the face.” She murmurs, glaring at him. Nonetheless, her rough exterior melts away when she looks back at you. Anyone who saw the way Ellie looks at you would think that you put every star in the night sky, just for her.
Taking a spot in the middle of the dance floor, you put your arms around Ellie’s neck and she grabs you by the waist to pull you close. The music isn’t the right tempo, but you start slow dancing like you are the only ones in the room. You lean in to give her a real kiss. No cheek, or forehead, or peck on the lips. You want to show her just how much you love her. Ellie’s soft lips move in sync with yours and you aren’t even thinking about all of the people around you. When you finally pull away Ellie says “Baby, I can’t believe you’re really mine.”
“Well, I am. You’re stuck with me. Good luck, babe!”

Sober Marshall x Drunk Girlfriend HC
Tumblr media
Author’s note : wrote this little blurb while I was hungover today. Needed some fluff 🥰. Hope you enjoy it ☀️.
* Though he has been sober for more than fifteen years, he doesn’t mind if people drink when he is around. He literally doesn’t care if he is at dinner and everyone else is drinking wine while he has water or soda.
* Same goes for you, his significant other. He doesn’t mind if you drink a little. If you were a raging alcoholic, it’d be different, but seeing as you only drink on occasion, he doesn’t mind.
* He knows your drink of choice and orders it for you the you’re on a date.
* He thinks you’re adorable when you’re tipsy. He likes that a little happy juice gives you the confidence that you sometimes lack.
* You also get more vocal about how sexy you think he is and he enjoys it way too much.
* He absolutely likes to make fun of you if drinking makes you dizzy or if you start slurring your words.
* He doesn’t particularly enjoy the thought of you being out drinking, but he is happy to be the one you call after a night out.
* If you guys don’t live together, he will offer to come and pick you up (at least, when you’re with him, he knows you’re safe and not all drunk and vulnerable after a night out)
* If you live together, he likes when you come home. He will never admit to it but he has trouble sleeping when he knows you’re out drinking because he knows how men can be with drunk girls. He usually waits until you get home to fall asleep.
* If you get easily horny when you’re drinking, he doesn’t necessarily oblige, though, depending on your drunkenness. A little tipsy is ok but he will not touch you if you’re drunk. He likes his woman fully present and consenting.
* Even if you give your explicit consent, if he thinks you’re too drunk, he pushes you away.
* « You’re too drunk, babygirl. Let’s just cuddle, ok ? »
* « You’ll have me when you’re sober, don’t worry » 😉
* Plus, being sober, he doesn’t necessarily enjoy the smell of alcohol. Drunk breath is almost a turn off.
* On the rare occasion that you are really drunk, he takes care of you.
* He will be the one holding your hair and sympathetically rubbing your back while you puke, telling you that it’s ok when you apologize for the hundredth time.
* That being said, he can and will probably be grumpy about it. You won’t see it because you’re bent over the toilet, but he is absolutely rolling his eyes.
* That being said, he’d rather be the one taking care of you while you’re drunk than having someone else do it. At least, he knows you got home safely.
* He puts you to bed and tucks you in, making sure you’re comfortable.
* When you wake up hungover, he has already put a glass of water and aspirin on your nightstand.
* He is absolutely the type to grin at you and remind you of all the silly stuff you’ve said and done while drunk. You’re mortified but he just laughs it off.
* He doesn’t judge you too much : he’s been there, done that, and he was way worse.
* There is one thing he does love about you when you’re drunk : you get all candid about your feelings and make the cutest drunk confessions.
* « I want to grow old with you and have your babies and stuff », you said with a drunken laugh. « Oh yeah ? » he asked with a grin as he tucked you in his bed. « Yep », you replied as you popped the P. « What else ? » He asked. « We could get married, too ! », you added as you closed your eyes. « Married, huh ? » he chuckled. « You’d be a great husband, you know ? And I’d be the best wife. We could drive to the city hall right now and get married ! » you said blurringly. Marshall let out a laugh and laid next to you in bed, getting under the covers. « It’s 3AM, babygirl… The city hall is closed. It’s Michigan, not Vegas, you can’t get married in the middle of the night. ». You let out a small yawn and pouted « That’s too bad. Another time, then, yeah ? ». Your boyfriend chortled and placed a chaste kiss on your forehead. He knew full well you wouldn’t be so vocal about marriage and having his babies if you weren’t drunk. But you were and it was kind of adorable. He secretly loved the idea that you saw a future with him, even though it was probably a bit too early to start thinking about all these things. « Another time », he agreed with a smile. He knew you’d be embarrassed the next morning when he would mention this conversation. Which he totally would. He was not the type to miss an opportunity to see your face flushed with embarrassment. It was way too funny and he couldn’t help it. « Good night… Wifey. », he added with a shit-eating grin on his face. He wouldn’t admit it, not to you, nor anyone else for that matter, but he did like the sound of that. What he liked even more was the smile the nickname put on your drunken face, eyes closed and giggling like a schoolgirl, as well as the words that followed. « Love you… Hubby. ». Now, he hadn’t had so much as a glass of wine in more than fifteen years, but he could swear he was starting to feel a little intoxicated himself. Absolutely drunk in love with you.

Something feels quite warm… it was an unusually comforting warmth, and it lay right beside you. You opened your eyes- “Renjun?” The source of the warmth was the human Renjun, who was lying next to you in bed. Strange. What is he doing asleep in your room? And yet, all your questions and concerns disappeared when you looked at his sleeping face. He was as beautiful as an angel. Renjun had more than an angel’s good looks. He had the heart of one too.
You recalled your first real conversation, just a few days after he’d arrived here. There had been an accident in the stables with one of our horses. Renjun was going to be trampled. You’d pushed him out of the way. He carried your bruised and broken body inside, apologizing all the while… “Oh, god…! Oh, miss, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean for you to get hurt! I should have gotten out of the way…!”
You felt so bad seeing Renjun blame himself, that before you knew it you were saying, “It’s all right. You mustn’t fear for me. I’m what they call… a witch.”
“A witch?” “See for yourself. My wounds…they’re gone.” You gestured towards your arms, displaying them for him to see.
“So, you can… cast magic?”
“...Not exactly. Humans are quick to label all they deem as frightening witches, but my true title is an eterni.”
“‘Frightening?’” “Yes. Those who know of us and this place fear it and refuse to talk about it. It’s all quite silly, when you pause to think!” I tried to laugh it off in an attempt to lighten the mood, but Renjun looked serious.
“You don’t have to smile if it makes you sad. You don’t have to lock away your emotions. That forced smile doesn’t look right on you. And they shouldn’t call you such awful names. As far as I’m concerned, you’re a person, just like me. And a nice one, too.” “But I’m not like you, I’m a-” “Your wounds may heal fast, but did they hurt when you got them?”
His point resonated with me. You’d never had a human care so much. The ice that had formed around your heart after so much pain and betrayal began to melt with his words. Could you… trust him? “See, Y/n? There’s nothing separating you and me. Nothing that I care about.” After that, you and Renjun began to spend more time together. To the exclusion of the other men Ricky had brought. That didn’t mean you expected to see him in your bed! Just then, Renjun stirred… “..mmhm..Good…morning… huh? Y/n? What are you doing in my bed?” “I’m afraid you’re in my bed, Renjun.” “...I am…?” Renjun sat up and looked around in shock. “... I woke up thirsty in the middle of the night and went to the kitchen for some water. I guess I ended up in your room. Sorry, I still don’t know this place well!” He was even charming when he was guilty. Renjun truly seemed descended from the angels. “Do not apologize. You were warm, so I was rather happy to have you in bed with me.” “Um.. you were?” “I mean, it’s not the fact that you were in bed with me that made me happy! It was-” Actually, there’s nothing incorrect about what you said. It DID make you happy. You couldn’t seem to explain it right.
Renjun leaned forward in bed, looking at you. “Are you saying I’m like a dog?” “A dog?” “Yeah. Like you felt happy because it was just like sleeping with a big, warm dog?”
Of course it wasn’t the same. Because Renjun, I’ve fallen in love with you…
You’d fallen in love with the man who smiled at you and told you, you were the same. He had let you feel what you’d never felt before. But you’d decided not to tell this to Renjun. For you were soon to leave this world… “There’s nothing to fear. I don’t think of you as a dog. Although, you are a bit like a puppy.” “Wait, so now I’m a smaller dog…?” “I simply mean that you’re cute. Now, you will want breakfast, of course. And after that, you’re going to paint, aren’t you?” He smiled and nodded. Truly, you couldn’t bear to darken such a bright smile with your grim fate.
Changing into his artist’s apron, Renjun set up his easel in the garden. He got to work quickly and quietly, the mark of a professional. Renjun’s profession was painter. He specialized in portraits.
“Now that the underlying sketch is complete, you’re going to add in the color-?” “That’s right. This is actually my favorite part of the job. Though it’s the most challenging.” In one hand, he held his palette, thick dollops of paint creating a cascade of colors.
While pretending to read, you surreptitiously watched Renjun at work. You had once asked him why he chose portraiture of all subjects. Renjun told you that he wanted to capture the emotions of his subjects in the moment. How they lived, not just the way they looked. You could see yourself spending an eternity with someone as wonderful as him. But that was wrong for him. His life and his work was so passionately mortal. Renjun captured what was everlasting. You could not take away what he was. “...Yep, it’s time for a break.” “Renjun, may I ask you something?” He shook his head and nodded, “I was hoping you could promise me something. Once the full moon comes, the gate will open and you’ll be free to leave the mansion.” Renjun nodded again, curiosity in his dark almond eyes. “When that happens, I want you to paint as many portraits as possible. To capture as many smiles on your canvas as you can.”
His voice was soft when he spoke again, “All right. I promise. But first, can you tell me something in exchange?” Those beautiful eyes of his suddenly became clouded, “Why did your butler bring us here in the first place? What did you need?” It was the question you’d most feared. “I’ve just been thinking. You haven’t tried to attack anyone, so… why?”
He was right in that he was brought here for a purpose. Renjun and the others had been brought here for you to turn into lesser eterni to continue the line… and save your life. But you had rebelled against that notion and chosen to fade away instead of sharing a fate you found worse than death… “There was no reason, not really! You see, it has been Ricky and me alone for so long now. It seems Ricky got the silly notion that I might want more company. That I would feel lonely now for the first time in centuries! It’s unfathomable, don’t you think?” “Well, I can’t say, since I haven’t lived even a fraction of your lifetime, but I don’t think loneliness is something you get used to. I think you can feel it at any time. And that you can’t easily ignore it.” Renjun spoke to your soul. His paintings could reveal someone’s true self; his words had the same power. “Hey, Y/n? After the gate opens and we’re let out, is it possible to come back? Could I come back and see you?” He wanted to come back here? Your heart ached with a desire to say yes… but you will be gone as soon as he leaves. “That would be a terrible idea. What if you got trapped here for another month? You should spend that time painting!” “I’ll find the time. I’ll make it work.”
“You really can’t. You mustn’t.” Renjun wasn’t satisfied but he didn’t argue, “Hmm. If I can’t… then tell me what I can do to help you now, before I leave.” How could he be so kind? If you could request one thing of Renjun… “Would you dance with me before the full moon has taken it’s place in the sky?” “You want me to dance with you?” “Yes. I used to love dancing, but I’ve lost anyone to dance with a long, long time ago. How does that sound?” “Of course I’ll dance with you. I might need some time to practice if I’m going to be any good at it. Can you wait a little?” You nodded, feigning a smile.
I’m sorry, Renjun. It’s true that I love dancing and dreamed of sharing a dance with the one I love.
Pureblood eterni stop aging past a certain point, which is why we can never stay in one place else we can be caught. And so you’d never sought out love, with a human or eterni. You could not risk them suffering the horrendous fate of your family. Please allow me this selfish wish. A last memory of you that I can carry with me until the end…
Ricky tended to the front gardens, though his heart was not in it. “Hmm? That is most curious.” There appeared to be a stake planted just outside the gate. Attached to it was a sign. “...This…is not good!” Ricky’s cries were unfortunately heard by Renjun who had happened to be nearby, “Hey, Ricky. What’s that sig-” Renjun stopped and read it for himself. The sign read: “The occupants of this cursed residence have been found guilty of witchcraft and will be punished with death.” “‘Witchcraft’? They must mean Y/n.” “How did you know madame has-?” “Early on, she told me she’d been called a witch before.” “My lady has done nothing wrong-! Some years ago, I..I had encouraged her to visit the city. But there was an accident. She saved people with no thought to her own safety, but when they saw her wounds heal rapidly, they called her a witch.” “She’s always sacrificing herself to help others.” Renjun’s gaze fell, his voice soft. “Ricky, have you gotten these kinds of notices before? Any threatening letters?” “No. Not since we hid ourselves away. This is all my fault. Because I trapped the five of you here, they’ve come to kill us..” Ricky, normally calm and collected, was shaken to his core; steel eyes now pale with fright. “The gates will open on the full moon. If they storm the mansion, there is nothing we can do. Oh, Madame, what have I done?” “Ricky, it’s going to be all right. If they do come, I’ll talk to them. Once they know we’re all right they’ll understand. I won’t let them kill Y/n or you. Listen, you had some reason for bringing us here, right? Some reason important enough to risk being discovered?” Ricky was startled out of his thoughts, though any words died on his tongue, “If you don’t want to say what it is, that’s okay. Let me say something instead… I’ll help you protect Y/n. No matter what. So don’t worry. I’ll be all right.” Ricky said nothing as Renjun continued on, “First let’s make sure the others don’t find out about this, especially Y/n, okay?” Renjun moved some vines to disguise the view of the sign from their side of the gate, “It hurt her enough to be called a witch. I don’t want her to have to know about this.” “Why do you care so much for madame?” “I guess I only have one answer to that… I love her. So of course I want to protect her.” Renjun spoke, his voice strong and true. “Sir Renjun, I must-” “What is it Ricky?” “If you are indeed… in love with the Madame, then I feel as if I must tell you something. Though my lady forbid me to speak of it, on the night of the full moon she will…” —
The final days passed frighteningly fast. At last, the full moon began to reveal it’s pale form beyond the horizon. You can feel it. Somehow, you know when the moon reaches it’s final point, your end will come. You changed into a dress suitable for dancing and waited for Renjun’s arrival. “I’m sorry to keep you waiting, Y/n.” “Renjun!” He met you on the balcony, stunning in his suit and his angelic smile. “You look especially beautiful tonight. Of course, you always look pretty.” “You think so?” “Yeah. I mean, I think you already know I’m no good at lying.” “I had some idea. Thank you, Renjun.” Renjun turned his hand up and held it out, “Will you give me this dance, my lady?”
You’d danced with stylishly dressed partners. Renjun, wearing the jacket he arrived in and a touch of moonlight, outshone them all. “...It would be my pleasure.” I lay my hand in his and we took our first steps together. There was no orchestra playing for us. There were no chandeliers, just the moon above. But you would rather be dancing here, than in the grandest dance hall. You had not expected your last night to end in such a pleasant way. With this as your final memory, you could happily turn to ash. Or so you told yourself. “Renjun, the gate will be opening any moment. It may already be open, in fact.” Renjun said nothing. Perhaps he was looking for the words to say goodbye? “Do not worry. There’s nothing you need to say. Though before you go, I wish to thank-” “Don’t say thank you like you’re saying goodbye.” His voice was still ringing in your ears when you realized Renjun was now holding you tight. “Renjun? Wh-what is it?” “I promise I won’t let you die.” “...W-what do you…?” “Ricky told me that if you don’t let a human drink your blood by tonight, you’ll turn to ash.” The peaceful lie you had created shattered. So it had come to this. “But then they become an eterni. And you’d rather disappear yourself, than do that to someone. Right?” There was nothing to say. He was right. “I don’t want you to disappear, Y/n. Won’t you let me drink your blood instead?” The arms that held me and the voice that pled with me were all shaking. “Renjun, I cannot do that.” “Why not?” He broke from me, his gaze pained. “Look at me, Y/n.”
Suddenly there were shouts from below. Angry shouts. They were getting louder. You leaned over the balcony to look out into the garden; you were shocked by what you saw. A crowd of humans were spilling through the open gates and into the mansion grounds. “...They’re here.” “Who are they? What is going on?” “It’s nothing. I’ll be right back. Please, promise me you’ll stay here.” He smiled as if to calm me, but Renjun raced down the stairs with frightening urgency. It obviously wasn’t nothing! You looked back at the townspeople outside your home. Torches and weapons–both real and improvised–held high. That mob. You had seen their kind before. You could not let Renjun go out there alone. No sooner had you exited into the foyer, you saw them coming in through the front door. They had taken Ricky. “Release the men you’ve taken prisoner and bring out the witch!” “I’ve been trying to tell you, we’ve already released them! As for the madame, I am afraid I cannot let you in to see her!” “He lies! I’m sure they’ve already killed them! MONSTERS! You and your devil’s mistress will pay with your lives!” Their cries for vengeance rose louder until they were furious and uncontrollable. They grabbed Ricky, restrained and shoved him, attempting to push him through the crowd at the door and outside. Five men go missing from the village. Of course they would come searching. And now, they’re here to kill us. I needed to do something, but fear–memories of my family’s brutal slaughter–froze me to the spot. Until I heard a voice. “She’s not a witch!” “Is that… Renjun? It’s you! You’re alive?!” “Yes, I’m alive! And she didn’t kill the others either! That’s why I won’t let you kill her!” You wanted to call out to him. They wouldn’t listen. “She’s bewitched you! Renjun, wake up! Remember who you are! You’re human!” Another added, “W-what if it’s too late? Where’s the witch? She may be speaking through him!” “No! Listen to me. I haven’t been bewitched and I’m not being controlled! Everyone, please. Let them both go. Put down your weapons so we can all talk.” “Renjun. All right. We can talk… just prove to us it’s still you. First, show us where the witch is-” Renjun was growing more and more annoyed at his peers, “Are you listening to me? She’s not a witch! I won’t let you see her until you understand.” “D-do you hear that? He’s protecting her! He’s become her familiar! It’s too late for him. Kill him! Then we kill the witch!” Two men grabbed him, one on each side. Another readied his weapon. You ran towards them. “Renjun!” Faster than a human could, you reached him; you threw your arms around him; you felt the blade that was meant for him piece you through. Over the fire and pain in my body, I heard a kind voice say, “Your wounds may heal fast, but did they hurt when you got them?” “Y/n…?” You opened your eyes and there was Renjun. Then he stared, stunned at his hand, red with crimson blood. “Your hand… you’re not hurt… are you?” “No. Y-you’re hurt… you’re b-bleeding… Why? I told you to stay there!” “I couldn’t… let you face them… alone…” Renjun looked in horror as the blood kept spreading. Your wounds were not healing this time. Your body had already reached its limits. Renjun turned his attention to the townsfolk as he shouted angrily, “Do you see now? Do you see what you’ve done? LOOK AT HER! She’s not a witch! Would a witch sacrifice herself to protect a human? W-would a witch-...?! …Get out. All of you, get out! Go! And never hurt this poor woman again!” What magic Renjun had used, I did not know. But his tears… an angel’s tears, had doused their murderous rage. Distantly, so distantly now, I heard the crowd disperse. When I opened my eyes, only Renjun and Ricky remained. “M-my lady, I will fetch some water! Give me… Just a moment and soon you will be-...” “No, Ricky… It is already time. Besides, I wish for you to stay.”
“Madame… this is all my fault.” Renjun on the other hand was equally as distressed as Ricky was, maybe even a little bit more, “Why? Why couldn’t I protect you? After I swore to keep you safe, I couldn’t!” “My dearest Renjun… You have protected me from more than you can possibly know…” He looked ready to cry. And so I took his hand and guided it to my heart. “You saved my heart from my fear…” “Your heart?”
“Do you remember…telling me nothing separated us…? And when you defended me just now.” I heard the quiet approach of death like the fall of sand from an hourglass. “It was thanks to you. I was able to save the ones important to me…I couldn’t die happier.” “Y/n…”
Thank you, Renjun, for descending from heaven to give me peace before the end.
You could not see him anymore. But you could feel his hand. You squeezed it. “R-Renjun…?” “What is it Y/n?” You felt him lean in close.
“I was happy for the time we spent together… I loved watching you paint. P-please, will you paint more…? Will you show… everyone… your beautiful art..?” “Don’t go… Don’t go, Y/n…!” “I love you.” Those words softly escaped your lips as quick as your breath left.
“Y/n? Y/n, open your eyes. Open your eyes and look at me once more…” Moonlight seemed to emanate from your still features, until your body broke apart and dispersed into drifting ash. Only the memory of your smile was left now. Not the smile of a witch or human, but of an angel… — Though it felt as if life itself might stop for those who lost Y/n, time continued on. A few months after that night, Ricky carried a bouquet of sunflowers to lay on the grave memorializing Y/n. It was Renjun who had arranged for her ashes to be buried here. And today… “Sir Renjun, is that you?” “Hey Ricky. I had a strange feeling I might run into you here today.” “But of course. This is where my lady rests. And I swore to serve her faithfully until death. But what brings you here…?” “I’ve been painting another portrait. It’s just about finished. Would you like to see it?” Renjun set the portrait upon the easel. Ricky covered his mouth with his hands. But his eyes-he could not look away. For etched on the canvas was Y/n, smiling at him with her gentle smile. Renjun closed his eyes and recalled the words he’d shared with Y/n, not so long ago… “Renjun, may I ask you something? I was hoping you could promise me something. Once the full moon comes, the gate will open and you’ll be free to leave the mansion.” He realized then that she might have always known this was how it would end. “When that happens, I want you to paint as many portraits as possible. To capture as many smiles on your canvas as you can.”
Renjun turned to look at Ricky again, “I promised Y/n I’d paint portraits and make lots of people happy. And I will. But before I got started on that, well, there was one portrait I had to paint first. It’s the portrait of the person I wanted to bring a smile to the most.” “I believe madame must surely be watching you and smiling right now. Just like she is in your painting…” Renjun looked at her image and smiled back, tears in his eyes. The last thing to do was give it a title. “A promise to your smile.”

Tumblr media
Me and JJ have been secretly dating for almost three months now. We've known each other for years since Simon's my big brother and they're best friends but just last year I realised I had feelings for him. I didn't act on those feelings so just kept them brewing inside for months because I assumed JJ didn't feel the same.
Until one night we were in a club, celebrating Calfreezy's birthday. We were both a little drunk so had some liquid confidence. He kissed me. But not a little peck, a full on make out session in the back of the club. I was shocked at first but when my brain registered that the person I'd had a massive crush on was basically showing me that he felt the same, I began kissing him back, with a slight sense of desperation and lust.
After that night we didn't talk for just under a week. Then I got a text from JJ asking if I would come round to his house to chat. I agreed, got ready and was outside his front door within thirty minutes of when he sent the message. We sat down on his couch, he was the first to speak. "How are you?" He asked. "Uh, I'm ok just a little confused." I fiddled with the hem of my top. "Confused about what?" "We kissed. You remember don't you?" I started with slight annoyance in my voice. He nodded. "Well you've been acting like it never even happened." He sighed "I'm just, you're- you're Simon's sister. We always agreed to 'never date the sister' but," he took a deep breath "I've liked you for a while now y/n, and I'm not sure if you feel the same way but-" I broke his sentence by kissing him, hard. "I'll take that as a yes then."
After that day we started dating. We already knew each other really well but he still took me out on a first date, then a second and well, now I've lost count. Since we decided to keep the relationship a complete secret we've both had to twist the truth a little. For example I told Simon that I had a boyfriend and JJ told him he had a girlfriend but we just avoided showing pictures or talking about each other.
We're planning on telling everyone this weekend at a party me and JJ planned especially, at my apartment. I'm really nervous and a little worried about how Simon will react. I spent the Friday night setting up so I could focus on getting ready on the Saturday. I bought a bunch of alcohol and some non alcoholic stuff for Tobi. When the day of the party rolled around I had a long everything shower then threw my hair in a towel while I had some lunch. By 6pm, I was fully ready. The party starts at seven. JJ came around forty five minutes early so we could talk about how the hell we were going to tell everyone (but especially Simon) that we'd be secretly together for months.
"It's gonna be fine, calm down." JJ gently rubbed my thigh as we sat on my sofa. I smiled up at him then moved myself closer to him "you're so cute." I whispered, our lips just millimetres apart. He closed the gap by pulling me into him and onto his lap so that I was sitting on his legs. My hands snaked around his neck and his rested firmly on my hips.
"What the fuck." I heard from the front door. I jumped up and my eyes widened when they met Simon's shocked face. In seconds both me and JJ were stood and making our way towards Simon. "We can explain-" JJ started. "No. You- I can't fucking believe this. She's my sister man!" Simon shouted, I flinched. "Simon we've been together for a while, this isn't something we chose. It just happened." I tried to soften the blow slightly. "What do you mean a while, how long?!" "Four months." JJ answered. "Four months! And you didn't think to tell me?!" I sighed "I was worried you'd react like this." "Well what do you expect when I find out my best friend's fucking my sister?!" My eyes widened. "It's not like that man. I love her." Simon's jaw dropped. "You love her?" JJ replied with a nod. "Oh."
"Hey guys! What's up?" Ethan burst through the door. "Uh, me and y/n were just telling Simon that we're together." JJ told him. "You what! Oh my god that's great! Isn't that great Simon!" He flung an arm round Simon's shoulder. Simon's face calmed "yea. I guess it is." A smile spread across my face. "I'm really happy for you too."
