In an attempt to exorcise these thoughts from my brain (this movie has taken up residence in my soul), here is an incomplete list of the things I notice and love in Red White and Royal Blue.

1. Henry staring in utter disbelief at the frosting-covered whiskey tumbler Alex plops distractedly into his hand whilst pawing ineffectually at the mess all over Henry's shoulder. Comedy gold.

2. Nora pretending she doesn't know either of them and hiding her face as they scuffle in front the cake.

3. How Alex has Henry literally in his pocket while talking turkey.

4. During Henry's "what does it mean" crisis talk over The Kiss, the entire scene is dressed in bi flag colours. Nora is in pink, Alex in blue, with a purple poster in the background.

5. The soft "whoa" of the white house staffer, who walks into Nora's office just in time to hear her ask Alex: "How many guys have you been with?" She hesitates, stunned, and then looks as if she'd like the ground to open up and swallow her now, thank you very much.

6. His Royal Hardness making flustered small talk with the UK Prime Minister and the US President, while the FSOTUS goes in for a cheeky squeeze. You ridiculous, giddy, fools.

7. Ellen's exasperated "my son thinks he's a fucking comedian" look in reply to Alex's "The night is young, Ma" and his shit eating grin, before diplomatically, and very sensibly, removing the British PM from the vicinity of these two horny idiots.

8. Alex's warm and teasing delivery of "Are they known for their homosexual tendencies?" after Henry says he's "as gay as a maypole." Boy is smitten.

9. When Henry invites Alex to the charity polo match, his initial awkward nerves transition to fond derision when Alex's tells him, crestfallen, that he doesn't know how to play polo. Bless.

10. Henry on a horse. Very much in agreement with Alex on this one.

11. The interleaved editing of the polo match and tack room shenanigans. It reminds me strongly of the interlaced 'what if' scene in Steven Sodenburg's Out of Sight, which is executed at a far slower pace but delivers that same feel of two people being inexorably drawn to each other, almost as if events are fated to happen.

12. The lighting in the Paris cafe scene. God damn those are two beautiful men.

13. Henry's gleefuly bashful admission of innuendo in the Paris cafe. He's just given Alex his full Royal name, but its Henry Fox that's in control here and he's revelling in bringing every moment of his inner fantasies to life.

14. The heartbreaking disconnect between their two perspectives in the Paris walk scene.

That's some bullshit

Doesn't mean you have to accept it

Alex has spent his life pushing defiantly against societal expectations. Henry has spent his life weighed down by them, isolated in a way that Alex only barely grasps.

15. I wish, with all my heart, that the fairytale political landscape of this movie was real.

16. The entirety of the morning after scene in the hotel room during the DNC is perfection and Zahra is the MVP. Matthew Lopez said he had no idea he was going to get that mini panic attack from Sarah Shahi and kudos to Sarah for that perfomance. Inspired.

17. How quickly and assertively Alex say "No" to Zarah's "would it make any difference if I told you not to see him again?"

18. The way Zarah says "Everytime I see you, it takes another year off my life." This phrase plays on loop in my brain during shitty work meetings.

19. The coming out scene with Alex and his Mom. A joyous balm for those of us who never got to experience that with our own parents.

20. Forehead touches. Ugh.

21. My brother in Christ, sharpen your knives Oscar, what did that pepper do to deserve that?

22. The catatonic state of sadness that Henry exists in after swimming away from Alex. My heart hurts.

23. The pride flags in the crowd outside Buckingham Palace. Again, can we all have this universe, pretty please?

24. The way Henry takes Alex's hand with such ease in public after the election win. If only Paris Henry could see you now.

Lately you’ve been having so many problems with it, every fucking light is on and you just don’t know at all how to fix it, and honestly, you don’t care that much either, but your friend told you about a new mechanic nearby, and apparently he’s hot. You decide to call him

Reader-“hello? I’d like to bring my car in”

You say hesitantly, really not wanting to spend the money but also not sure about this supposedly very hot guy

König-“Ja, sure, come in when you can”

He immediately hangs up the phone, not even asking your name, well, if he’s as good as you’ve been told then who cares. You drive to his shop, not far from your house. When you get there he’s already waiting outside wearing partly ripped jeans and a white, sweat soaked t-shirt, almost as if he’s trying to show off, you guess he doesn’t have any other customers. You park near him and get out.

Reader-“hey uh, I talked to you on the phone?”

He looks you up and down, taking in you and your average looking self. You do the same to him, yet he looks a lot better, his hands covered in dried oil, his shirt soaked in sweat, his bright blue eyes staring at you, you can even see his abs through his shirt.

König-“I know, so, what’s wrong with it”

Reader-“uh, well, I don’t know much about cars, every light is on though”

You say with a nervous smile. He keeps his blank look and sticks out his hand, assumably for your keys, you hand them to him. He opens your door and pops your hood, doing…well you have no idea, you assume he’s doing what he’s supposed to, you hear him yell

König-“Was zum Teufel! When was the last time you changed you oil, or changed the damn battery”

You look around, debating whether or not you should talk

Reader-“well…I guess a few years”

He peeks out from the hood and glares at you

Reader-“I can pay whatever you need, i-I just don’t wanna get a new one. I don’t know a lot but I really like this one you know”

You say quietly, getting a bit embarrassed and sentimental about your shit box car. His gaze softens and he nods

König-“well, it won’t be easy, nor cheap, but i understand, and I’ll get it done”

He closes the hood and walks over to you, only a few inches away, you blush a bit as you start to smell whatever cologne he has on mixed with his sweat, it smells oddly good to you.

König-“you know, you’re a very pretty man, I’m not surprised you don’t know much about cars”

He chuckles. You blush even more, he called you pretty!

Reader-“I uh…well I guess you’re right. And thanks for the compliment, you look nice too”

He smiles at your obvious nervousness.

König-“let me go get something for you”

He walks away and comes back a few minutes later, he hands you a set of keys to a nearby car, an average car, nothing special but a car nonetheless.

König-“since you clearly can’t drive yours, use one of mine, I do expect It back however”

Your mouth hangs slightly agape, he’s letting you borrow his car till yours is fixed? This has to mean he likes you.

Reader-“well I-can I get your number? So we can call and text about my car. I don’t wanna have to call your shop”

He smiles and exudes an aura of confidence, as if he was waiting for you to ask. He grabs a piece of paper out of his pocket and a pen he had to write his number. He he takes your hand and places the paper in yours, keeping it held in his

König-“you know, feel free to call me, even if it’s not about your car, I know more than just cars.”

He kisses your hand and leans in to whisper in your ear

König-“I also think I could please you. No?”

He smiles and pulls away, letting go of your hand. You’re so shocked that you can’t even come up with words to respond, you just nod and stumble over to the car he’s letting you borrow. You’re definitely gonna call him

Iris is one of the oldest Flash characters (well, oldest by measure of the Silver Age Flash) and despite the show's problems she was adapted pretty well. Her being pushed aside 100% has to do with her being Black in the adaptation. The most popular ship on Ao3 for that show is her white husband x a white passing supervillain clearly intended to be read as actually white who has been in LITERALLY ~SIX EPISODES. He DIED IN 2016. THEY ARE STILL DOING THIS

Gets mom friended like you wouldn't BELIEVE. People hate her because she was childhood best friends with The Flash and has chemistry with him :( like it's her fault she's sweet and smart and not the male blue coded villain to the red hero. I am so tired

Literally my best friend ever!!! Every time she shows up in a comic I point at her and smile!!! She’s the vigilante known as spoiler & batgirl & was a robin before getting fridged because of editorial mandate and misogyny she deserves so much better @_@. The m/m that some people hate her for is timkon; like they ARE very gay but people are genuinely insane about hating her instead of also realizing that she too is gay (insane amount of subtext w her bff cass). Basically she was Tim’s girlfriend for a long time on and off. People will literally call her abusive for no reason they’ll be like oh but she didn’t apologize for starting a gang war accidentally and faced no consequences for it :/ as if she wasn’t literally KILLED OFF BRUTALLY. Anyways she’s the light of my life.

she’s the light of my life my baby girl my everything. she canonically dated tim drake, but people love to ship tim with his male friend kon or his male brothers (🤢🤮) and so they constantly sideline her, making her the quirky wingwoman or sometimes even villainizing her by trying to claim she was abusive to tim. i don’t know why so many people hate her my girl will literally just be standing there and people will hate on her.

Stephanie was first introduced in the 1994 Robin series as a side love interest for Robin, but when she turned out to be really popular she became the main love interest. Because of this, she was fully fleshed out as a vigilante calling herself Spoiler to try and take down her villainous father, the Cluemaster. She later grew a lot closer to other cast members, such as Batgirl and Oracle, to get herself a firmly established place among the bats. Then, she dies in a gang war after taking up the Robin mantle. Eventually, in 2009, she was brought back from the dead and took on the Batgirl mantle. Her and Robin get back together sometime around ~2010 and they are solidly together until 2021. Then, Robin breaks up with her off panel for zero reason in canon, only to date some really boring guy named Bernard. By fanon, she's often demonized and turned into an abuser to make either this ship, or a lot of other mlm ships happen. Either that or things are mysteriously set in the time she's dead despite characters who were not yet introduced until she returned appearing. strange.

I also think- having recently seen a post that said Blue Eye Samurai isn't a queer story, it just has queer elements- that sometimes it feels like fans cannot make up their minds.

Do we or do we not want stories that treat being gay as a perfectly normal, perfectly common experience the same way straight people are depicted in every story to ever exist?

In BES, no one is outright stated to be queer. That's partially because in Japan, until Japan felt the need to sanitize itself to appeal to foreigners, it wasn't unheard of at all for men to be gay. Multiple famous samurai and swordsmen and nobles were either outspokenly gay or are commonly theorized to have been gay in modern historical readings. Abijah making multiple references to swinging both ways, Kaji's offer of a male prostitute, the various scenes we have of men being together in sexual positions, they're not met with surprise because homosexuality was an acknowledged thing that happened.

Taigen's erection while he's wrestling Mizu, even though he doesn't yet know her secret, is treated awkwardly because they're supposed to dislike each other and also he's supposed to be in love with Akemi, not because "whoa bro no homo".

(This is also why I keep saying that it's difficult for me to put into English words what I think Mizu's gender is, because gender and sexuality quite frankly did not work the way my 2020s American brain wants to contextualize it, and I think it's important to consider the cultural aspects here esp in a show so heavily leaning on a racial story)

However, compared to many other shows out there even regarding the same area and country, BES is significantly more queer than the majority of them produced in the last 30 years. Is Mizu herself queer? Well... maybe, depending how you define it. Back in the day, otherwise cisgender crossdressers and male-impersonators were still grouped in with those we'd call transgender nowadays. She seems to be exclusively interested in men, but also seems to be equally receptive to considering herself sexually as both a man and a woman pairing with men, than as a man or woman pairing with women which she has adamantly refused with zero interest on multiple occasions.

Is Taigen bi? I mean, maybe! He seemed more mortified that he had an unwanted erection in front of someone he wanted to impress and play with, than that he had it over someone he considers a man, using the excuse that he misses his would-be fiance.

Abijah certainly seems to be bisexual, considering we see him having sex with both women and men, and his various sexual references talk about both men and women as well. This is ignoring whatever weird sexual tension thing he's got going with Heiji, who seems both receptive and repulsed by it.

And, not to be remiss, but there is a reason I specified that homosexuality among men was pretty known. Due to the more rigid policing of women's sexuality in this era, homosexuality among women was less commonly reported (though I have heard stories of noble women and their handmaids, or the working poor women, or among prostitutes living together in the brothels, so also not unheard of but perhaps less accepted as women were largely bought and sold in marriage and sex trafficking) - but even with all of that, Kaji and Kinuyo have something together. Whether that is a mother-daughter thing, or if they were lovers, is up to interpretation. The implication that out of everyone at the brothel that Kaji genuinely cares for, Kinuyo was special, and that wasn't a particularly uncommon arrangement historically if I'm hearing about it 400 years later in a completely different country.

So this "well it's not a queer show" and "if I was told this was a queer story I'd be disappointed" is honestly just ridiculous hooey to me. Do you want characters who are able to explore their sexualities without looking over their shoulder out of fear of homophobia, or not?

I still think it's really funny that the "toothpaste"/"listerine" flag I (partially?) made back in 2016 based off an anon's suggestion took off and had so much discourse over it. Because I literally had NO idea about it until years later when I stumbled upon it randomly (iirc) because nobody said anything to my face about it ever. Even now I don't think anyone has said anything to me outside of direct responses of posts I made about it.

Like there's literally everyone across every spectrum of everything either loving or hating the flag for completely different reasons, some of which aren't even remotely true. But somehow it almost never reached me.

I'm just here playing in my mud pit trying to help people make and find flags and terms that make them happy while there's a whole war raging over (at least) one of them around the corner.

Anyway, I got burned out a while ago from making flags because people kept making like 100000 a day with photos and copyrighted images on them and I couldn't keep up so I don't know all the flags the youth are using anymore.

Anyway I just wanted to reiterate that I'm NOT a truscum. One of them took the flag and reuploaded it stating it was the "official" gay man flag and I guess that's when it exploded and people just assumed they made it?

I also still 100% support non-dysphoric/transitioning trans people, bi/pan lesbians/gay men, anyone with "weird" or "contradictory" labels, people with 500 genders or 0 genders or -62 genders, you can detransition, retransition, LMNOP-transition, you can change your sex but not your gender, you can reclaim your slurs, you can do whatever you want forever, just don't be an ass and for the love of cats stop making overly complex flags, they're supposed to be simple for a reason!

It's like you knew I'm watching Justified and not studying! RIP.

Okay, bear in mind I'm on season 5 so I haven't seen it all, and I'm a bitch who thinks canon is a suggestion, so anything that doesn't make sense with canon? We get what we get and we don't get upset. Lmao.

Also, I have no idea if @cenyiere wants us to acknowledge that she was party to this but she was and so she must take responsibility for her crimes get credit. Anything particularly funny is all her.

Raylan is the one who drifts through life getting attached and not being particularly great at it but it's obviously something he wants, while Tim is not That Guy, traditionally. But now there's Raylan, unexpectedly, and Tim isn't sure what to do with it. Is he insecure about himself? No, rarely, but he's insecure about this nebulous thing they haven't named, that he's trying to fit into a life and routine that has been tightly regimented since the army.

So what I'm saying is, Raylan saying/doing soft romantic shit out of the blue to this man who has never, either expressly or by the way he presents himself, invited anyone to speak to him like that and accordingly doesn't know what the hell to do with it, is like a grenade in poor Tim's mental landscape but it's also how I figure they get beyond just being coworkers who fuck after a long day at the office.

2. Thinking about that time Tim was babysitting Raylan and stayed over at the motel, and Raylan woke up to just find Tim sitting there reading. Like this man had time to get up, shower, shave & brush his teeth, put that bucket of gel in his hair, get dressed, put his sleeping bag away, and settle in with his book, and apparently did it quietly enough that it didn't wake Raylan. This has implications for their morning routine when they live together.

Picture it: Raylan wakes up one morning at 6 to pee and Tim's side of the bed is not only empty, but not even warm anymore and it's been made (as well as a person can make one side of a bed when there's someone else in it). When Raylan's sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee later on while Tim does the exact same shit he does every morning whether Raylan is there or not because this man loves a routine (makes coffee, then eggs - sometimes enough for Raylan if he's not being a pain in the ass - then washes his dishes) Raylan is like, "I thought you said you get up at 6:30."

Tim is like, "No, I said I can't sleep past 6:30. If I want to run, shower, and drink my coffee like a civilized person before work, I set an alarm for 5." This is how Raylan finds out things about Tim, like that he runs and fucking hates being rushed through his coffee.

Related: Tim's mom sends him new high-end sheets every year for Christmas because I just want him to have nice things, okay? Raylan does not grasp this at all. "Always sheets?" "Yeah." "It's not really a surprise." "Why does it need to be a surprise?" "...I guess!"

In that vein, Raylan's always learning things about Tim deeply piecemeal, because Tim is not a closed book if you ask him a direct question but he's not like, volunteering personal information.

4. I know everyone is in love with Gold Star Gay Tim but I'm not mad at the idea of him being bi? His Very Extremely Hetero comments about Victoria's Secret models and Sigourney Weaver could well be a product of DADT-era Tim super accustomed to trying to fit in, but picture this: His ex-girlfriend rolls into town (the FBI agent he had an in with, maybe? Tim likes smart women but dumb men, it's his toxic trait) and shenanigans ensue. She walks right up to Raylan and eyes him up like, "...this one?" And Raylan suddenly gets the uncomfortable sense that he's being appraised by two versions of Tim. (Will I write this fic? Don't rule it out.)

5. Tim loves crackers. It came to me in a dream. He keeps a box in his desk and another one in the car for cracker-related emergencies. Raylan looks up during a serious moment when they're talking to a fugitive in the conference room just in time to see Tim quietly wedge an entire cracker into his mouth and then panic about how he's going to chew it quietly. Raylan's chasing down a fugitive and he's in a convenience store and on his way out, but he doubles back and grabs a particular box of crackers. Art is like, did I see you pause and waste 20 second grabbing crackers? Raylan's like, .........those ones are hard to find in Lexington.

6. I'm sure this particular smut has been written a million times but don't tell me Raylan isn't super into the idea of Tim wearing his hat while they smash.

7. It's the sad verse, everybody: Tim's dad pointed at gun at him a time or two when he was a kid and that's why he got a little attached to the idea of killing him with a gun.

8. Tim feels like his value is tied up in his job, which gets established early. When he's babysitting Raylan (in season 2 I think?) he says something like "will you give me some credit, I'm a professional", and when Raylan asks how he knows about Gary it's "because I'm good at my job?" And then of course: "I can't carry a tune etc but I don't miss." And when he's reluctant to help Raylan with the FBI thing it's because he doesn't want Raylan "going all Raylan" and burning his contact. I have feelings about this because flash forward if you will to established relationship Givenson, when Tim must know that a big part of the reason why Raylan and Winona didn't work out and he got a shot in the first place is because of the job they do. Something to stare at the wall about!

9. Two nights ago I watched that part in season 4 where Callie remarks on the fact that Tim held back with Bad Haircut Fuckface because "you had empathy for him" and Tim's like, when I take him down, his eyes will be clear. Thinking about the fact that he's probably lost a few friends to drugs, wasn't just avoiding the question when he told Bad Haircut Fuckface about joining the Marshals, understands that impulse to get fucked up and not think about it and the only thing that helps is having something to do that feels like it matters.

Also thinking about when he rolls up to help Raylan get into the veterans bar half in the bag and Raylan sounds vaguely incredulous when he asks, "are you drunk?" There's also the time when Art is talking to the guy who wants his job and says Tim "probably has ptsd, probably an alcoholic" and like, he's obviously just trying to scare this guy off but he clearly knows it's a possibility. Crucially, he doesn't know for sure.

All to say that I think maybe Tim walks a tricky line with alcoholism. When he drinks, he drinks HARD. He goes through times when it's too many nights a week. Never at cop bars or anywhere people might know him, sometimes alone. But since he doesn't drink at work and always gets up and does his morning routine and comes in seeming okay, no one notices.

10. Re: later on, established Givenson: Tim's emotionally aware enough to know that he could certainly look after someone else's kids - smash cut to the precious montage of him doing cute shit with Raylan's daughter - but he can't be someone's dad. He dragged himself out of a shitty childhood and made the best of a brutal military career where half his friends couldn't hack it in civilian life but there's no room in that carefully constructed stability, wherein he's carved out a productive adulthood and held his ground but he has to work at it, to figure out how to be a good parent and get up and do it every day. And I doubt he sees himself as the marrying type, either. I bet it's a long time before eventually Raylan is the one who suggests they move in together. There's an undercurrent of Tim like a caged tiger at first, having to share space he's unaccustomed to sharing and altering routines he's never altered. (I have the feeling Tim does a lot of work in the background, mentally, that people don't see. Raylan gets the hang of looking for it after a while.)

11. A happier one: Tim and Raylan can't remember which flannel is whose anymore. People are surprised to find out about them and then Rachel's like, are you kidding? Raylan's worn that green flannel four times in the last two weeks and it is NOT his. (Rachel Is The Best At Her Job Agenda 2k23. Tim just keeping tabs on Gary for??? What reason?? That's boyfriend behaviour. Raylan is just oblivious. You know Rachel knew!)

12. Tim I-Am-Not-Coming-Down-From-This-Car Gutterson is a cat guy. He's going to have a cat in any fic I write, sorry or you're welcome in advance. His cat's a hater, as well; Mittens and Raylan have a healthy wariness of each other.

13. There are these lyrics in the Fallout Boy song I put on my Givenson playlist (lol, you already know I'm wearing a full face of clown makeup, might as well tell you all the sorry details):

'Cause you're the last of a dying breed Write our names in the wet concrete I wonder if your therapist knows everything about me

HC: Tim has a therapist through the VA. Mentions it once (Art makes some comment about something and Tim's like, "my therapist did say I should work on that"). Raylan isn't sure if he's joking and asks about it later. "You have a therapist?" Tim looks up from step 4 of his unhingedly detailed morning routine like, "Can't you tell by how well-adjusted I am?" Raylan honestly still can't tell if he's joking.

14. Re: Tim and Winona: On Tim's part, once Givenson becomes a thing, there might be that surface level, like. That's the gorgeous woman who is always going to be in Raylan's life as his baby mama insecurity but it's not a real visceral jealousy. He almost feels a little sympathy because damn, it's clear that both parties got their hearts broken over that not working even though it was never going to. Could picture a conversation where Tim and Winona are trying to feel each other out when Raylan isn't in the room for whatever reason and neither of them are bullshitters so it's just like. "Are you worried you have something to worry about with me?" "Nope. If it were going to work, it would have." (I do think they'd be friends eventually because Winona is too much like Raylan for Tim not to come over fond, honestly. Lol.)

15. Raylan's daughter headcanons? Here we go!

Eventually the kiddo asks Tim what she should call him and he's just like "...Tim?" Because what else would it be? She draws a picture at school and it's labeled "my mom" "my daddy" "my Tim". Baffled to discover other kids don't have a Tim. Tim's only comment when he sees the drawing is: "Look, Raylan, she got your giant head right." But he puts it on the fridge and it stays there through moves and whatever else.

He definitely teaches this kid how to shoot when she's older because he doesn't want her learning bad habits. He explains it to Raylan like, "I have one marketable skill and it has served me very well so I'm passing it on." Raylan's like, "you have two, but one you can't teach her."

16. To circle back to Tim not considering himself to be the marrying type:

They've been together for years when Raylan makes some throwaway comment related to like, work benefits or something similarly unromantic: "I'd ask you to marry me tomorrow if I thought you'd say yes."

Tim gets that zeroed-in look like he does whenever Raylan says something that actually for-real pulls his focus: "What makes you think I wouldn't say yes?"

"Would you?"

"I don't do jewelry or contracts that don't expire."

"It's almost like I know you."

The Warp Effect Ep 8 Stray Thoughts

The Week of Jojo Part 2 begins. Last week, Army agreed to be the sperm donor for Nim, Mollie and Nim had a good moment during the training for the film that totally left Bew jealous, See-ew stepped out on Liu and ended up arrested for making porn, Liu broke up with See-ew in a scene that was fantastic between Sing and Clize, and Captain beat the shit out of Kat for not wanting to be his partner.

I'm glad we're staring with Kat. What happened to her was upsetting, and I wanted to check on her first.

It's interesting how Kat displays a wide array of feelings here, but annoyance, irritation, and offense come through most strongly.

All of Kat's girls came to check on her, but she doesn't want to be a victim. She is totally right to be frustrated that she was attacked after making her boundaries clear.

So now she'll flirt with Jean (who is apparently bi!) as a tease? I need this to become more than teasing!

I like Jean. Just because something bad happened to Kat doesn't mean she's gonna let Alex back in.

Army is lovesick, and also frustrated that Joe won't switch. So glad we're having frank conversation about the relationship dynamics in gay relationships about sex. Army is right that bottoming is tiring, and doing it all the time is exhausting. I'm curious how they'll explore Joe's reticence about the act. Just don't turn this into Cucumber, because I'll never forgive Russel T. Davies for that.

Alex is the straight guy determined to get his gay friend laid. We've come such a long way.

Cutting between Kim and Nim about the pregnancy tests was a neat touch. Kim's is unexpected, and I don't think Nim is pregnant yet.

I kinda like this plot with Bew. Lesbians can have poorly planned pregnancies, too. Bew may be jealous about Mollie, but the callous attitude about the baby is concerning.

Joe needs to do things away from this school more often, and everyone else needs to stop trying to make Joe talk about gay shit in the locker room of the school he works at.

Ah, Joe is a side. I appreciate that he doesn't like anal sex; I don't think it's required. I also don't like the bar and club scene. I just worry about the self-fulfilling nature of Joe's sense that he doesn't belong anywhere. You have to find your people.

I want to see Silvy whip ass in this film they're working on.

So Bew really left. TRASH. How do you look like Dichen Lachman and let me down like this??

"I remember all of it." Mollie, please never say that to your ex if you're trying to maintain a platonic relationship.

Jean stressing repeatedly that Kim's health and safety is more important than the set is exactly how more places should be. I will accept less shows less often if it means the people making it aren't suffering.

I just don't think the doctor should have told Jean that Kim is pregnant though? Seems like that's private information.

Oh, this is an interesting way for this plot to develop. Jean, who I suspect has had an abortion, doesn't foist that choice upon him. Kim admits she's not ready to start a family, and doesn't believe Ice is either. Kim doesn't hide the pregnancy from Ice, and he immediately rallies to become a dad and parent with Kim, much to her chagrin.

Kat is tough in front of others, but I am not surprised she's nervous in parking garages now.

Gosh, almost every scene has a blue hue to it this week. It's like watching Eyewitness again.

Mmm, unsure how I feel about Kat opening herself up to more with Alex immediately after beginning recovery.

Tony stay shooting his shots with Jean.

Alright, I do think it's important for us to talk about men's health and making sure they actually get it from professionals. However! Army knows Alex is not actually trained as a doctor right now, so what are the ethics here??

This and Between Us acknowledging bathroom stalls as their position in gay sexual history. I wonder if I'll have to write about this at the end of this year.

I get why Army stayed friends with Alex. He's very affectionate for a straight man.

Jojo really loves to fuck with the audience. Kat snuggles in with Alex, considering what it might be like to be serious with him, only for Alex to call out for Jean in his sleep.

I really like the exploration of the sensual potential of outercourse with Army and Joe. With how much BL misrepresents the physical considerations of penetrative sex, this feels necessary.

Also, in terms of the narrative, I like that Army's problem is solved by reconciliation with the first boy he really hurt and reaching equilibrium with him.

This fictional scene of Rose and Liu enabling Kat to curb stomp Captain is making me think of I May Destroy You (2022). I'm feeling a deep surge of complex feelings. Of course, her girls are here to support her.

Love that Kat's problem wasn't solved by choosing a guy.

Oh good, we're returning to Rose and Jedi next week. Not showing him in the bar felt intentional.

Super Specific Linked Universe Headcanons Pt 1.

All of the Links are autistic but they all have wildly different ways of presenting it. Ask me about their special interests, please. Please.

Warriors is in his 20s. He is an Aquarius. I'm right.

Sky is the ultimate straight cis ally, but he has bi wife energy. He is best friends with Legend, and they're kind of inseparable.

Twilight is a taurus, he's cis and bisexual, but leans towards women and fem ppl (and too hung up to think about anyone but one woman)

Wild is taller than yall think, 17 or 117 whatever is more convenient for him, zelda told him his birthday is november 7th (scorpio, ofc) and he just accepts that.

Hyrule is pansexual (mostly cis but might be genderfluid, he likes to wear feminine clothes and makeup)

Four is like? 3'8, and he's 20 yo but most people don't believe him. He's a trans boy, and most of the colors are too besides vio, who I think is either genderfluid or pangender, uses all pronouns. Four is bisexual but leans towards guys, though he loves his Zelda.

Legend is 4'10, 17 yo, born december 14th at midnight. he is trans, any pronouns, and bisexual.

Ravio is same height and age as Legend, and they're both born on the same day but ravio was born at noon. This really bothers Legend, he wants his own birthday. Ravi loves it.

also ravio is gay, asian/latino, chubby and has the best smile <3

war is cis and bisexual but he leans towards women, I think he's aromantic but probably could be romantically involved with someone.

Times eyes are more gray than blue

Sky 9 times out of 10 has no clue whats going on. Stupid and confused, and its perfect.

Twilight always knows where all of them are, and I don't even know if it's just smell. He has mom instincts "where are my kids, what are they doing"

Wild got mad anger issues pls calm down babe. Kind of scary. He lets hyrule braid his hair sometimes.

Hyrules eyes are more green than blue, and he has freckles all over his face and body (jokes he ought to get a kiss for every freckle)

Whenever Wind gets mail from his little sister, he reads it to the group. He's very proud of her, and she's very proud of him. She has a bunch of big brothers now.

Four + the colors are white-asian mixed (or looks like it yk, bc he's hylian) his eyes are dark brown.

Legend goes non verbal a lot, esp when they're stressed, but when she talks, she talks. I mean, hand gestures, ranting, cussing, pointing, "and you a bitch, and you a bitch." favorite curse word is cunt.

warriors ruffle everyone's hair, and they all hate it (esp four and legend, who claims he's going to choke him with his own scarf)

Sky likes to sing and dance, and wishes more of them would dance with him.

Twilight has slept as a wolf so often that it's practically natural for him, he really prefers it. Also, he takes all of his nightwatch shifts as a wolf.

Wild will teach literally anyone about edible flora and mushrooms and such, and foraging around hyrule, if only they would listen. Sometimes talks random animals ears off about his favorite flavor combos. Sky loves to listen and ask questions.

Hyrule will hand his favorite people random stuff as "gifts" like feathers, flowers, rocks, dead bugs (he's obsessed with bugs, he loves them so so much and they're all his friends) his favorite animal is a bumblebee

i know we all agree wind swears likek a bloody sailor, bc thats what he is, but how about him using random shit for swears like, "crabs cankles," "bilge-sucking" or calling the others landlubbers. also feel like he'd be the type to say "bite me" when someone disagrees with him.

Four keeps a bunch of books in his bag, and if their reading is disturbed they all have different reactions. Blue pinches or glares, Vio ignores you unless she deems what youre saying important, red gets physically distressed, and green will actually tell you to be quiet. (blue pinches a lot actually)

Legend is a very picky eater, especially with textures, this pisses wild off (wdym you dont like it YOU HAVENT EVEN TRIED IT)

Sky's Zelda is a bisexual virgo, and she knows everything.

Malon makes very good bread. I want to shove that shit in my face ong. Also she insists on giving each of the boys big hugs when shes sees them.

Imogen, a quite nice name for a protagonist is a straight white gal with a queer sis and that's about it. Interestingly enough she (after hanging out with her queer friend's queer friends) begins questioning her sexuality. Because straight girls don't spend time convincing themselves they're straight (yeah, it's from Red White and Royal Blue, sheesh let a girl breathe)

•Tessa is a tomboy kind of lesbian (a butch lesbian. Unlike me who is a bitch bisexual. It's not a thing but it should be) anyway, Imogen develops a crush because Tessa is well, Tessa.

•Imogen, like every bi gal before 'the awakening' goes down the rabbithole of doubt, uncertainty, tears and anxiety before reaching a conclusion (you'll know what that is)

•I love love love, Tessa. And I kinda feel robbed of more Tessa content because most of the book is a big a** Imogen monologue which is coincidentally similar to the one I had when I was doubting my bi-ness.

•What I'm saying is. Imogen is me. I'm also pretty insecure, pathological people pleaser who wouldn't survive a day without external validation. Mostly because no one's told I'm enough and as sad as that sounds, of late I have some people who tell me I'm enough so it's working out.

•This book has so many brainstorming sessions about queer identity, the closet, and biphobia because let's face it biphobia real. You're either not gay enough for the straights or either very straight for the gays to be considered bi. And that's a problem. Everyone's lived queer experience is different and everyone's valid.

•Imogen obviously has made me cry, laugh, question my sexuality, find answers, cry again and everything in between. It's amazing. A fucking phenomenon if you will and I will read it again.

Sometimes character creation takes ten minutes to initially get ✨ the feel ✨, but then three-to-four years to actually develop said character past “teehee golden retriever boy teehee” (see Oscar), or “you know those spoiled, all-pink brats in those 2017 gacha mini movies? yeah, that’s her, but i wanna be cleAR SHES NOT WHITE IM NOT BASIC I PROMISE” (see Darla), “brat’s brother. idk i needed more characters. his name is literally supposed to mean ‘brother’ because my braincell suddenly stopped coming up with coolass names like with every single one of my girl characters” (see Brody).

Sometimes character creation takes years of overlooking said character’s real potential, just so he can be a significant part of a main-ish character’s backstory where his only purpose is to hurt her, then thrusting him into a romantic relationship he really wasn’t destined to be apart of, then giving him a shitty immortality/god arc? For some reason? Except that arc was actually kind of necessary, because apparently slightly (a year) younger me couldn’t stand the thought of having a character live forever and still be immoral in the main plot. So I switched things up and made him gay (bi) as fuck. It changed more than you’d think it would… even the victim-vs-abuser roles got switched around with his girlfriend, even though his girlfriend was kind of an ass either way. (see Soren)

Sometimes character creation takes place only because you’re on Roblox and need to scrap up a character FAST or you’ll take two hours on the customization screen and out of roleplay (see Violet, a Percy Jackson OC I haven’t touched since 2021). Or, take two hours typing up your character’s description in a roleplay group chat (see Maria). They both end up being self inserts, down to your own looks, or tweaking said own looks just a bit, to what you actually kind of want to look like. Except they both end up looking drastically different from their original iterations (Violet has blue eyes, freckles, etc., and Maria is an entirely separate race), and one of them a drastically different personality than originally represented. (See Violet. Again.)

Sometimes character creation is literally just you trying to have fun imagining little people that dress pretty and have big, fancy names, but aren’t assholes. Except your brain won’t fucking let you, so it escalates into a Spotify playlist and a three-hundred-thousand-dollar Bloxburg build. (see Indigo Girls)

Sometimes character creation is making random little people in an avatar game (Gacha Club) and then them suddenly popping back into your brain two years later. So you make a few more characters, just to bigger their world a bit. Except you need to revamp the main character. She is NOT giving White Girl. She Cannot Be White. The day she is white is the day I like boys. (NEVER.) Iamfoamingatthemouth, she caN’T BE WHITE BUT WHAT IN THE FUCK SHOULD SHE BE ?????? SHE NEEDS TO BE JEWISH. OR THE OTHER GIRL NEEDS TO BE JEWISH. SOMEBODY HERE NEEDS TO BE JEWISH. I SWEAR TO GOD. I AM LITERALLY SCROLLING THROUGH THE WIKIPEDIA PAGE, “LiSt oF cOnTeMpOrArY eThNiC gRoUpS” AND WITH MY LUCK I’M GOING TO SCROLL THROUGH ALL OF IT WITHOUT PICKING ONE. WHAT IN THE FUCK IS SHE. yeah hes bi i dont know what else to say he and mally are in love frfr i actually just completely made up bigender. made it up, i dont know where i got it from i just remember early february drawing mad t party on my laptop and suddenly thinking “bigender thackery” and its stuck with me since then. (the two genders i hc him with are male/female though so) i wouldnt say he feels just one or the other, he feels both at the same time

mally: bisexual & trans

he is top ten bisexuals of all time,, whenever they do the pretender and tarrant and alice stand on either side of him and take turns singing he is DYING. passing away HE IS TRANSGENDER!!!!!!! we all know it. instead of coming out as trans he made up some crazy story about being killed in a war and then coming back as a man 🙄/j hes just dramatic like that

chessur: gay & trans

haha this is mostly because of @thatrandomartistjavi's hcs xd chessur is special in the sense that hes the only mtp character that never really gets a chance to flirt with anyone else since hes always hiding behind that drumset. from what ive seen he was shipped with dinah a lot, presumably just cuz theyre both cats since they rarely interact, so ive never really understood it :p i usually hc cheshire cats as nonbinary/something under that umbrella but this guy gives me transgender vibes. idk

absolem/ladypillar(? dont know if she ever got a real name): lesbian & trans

shes very much a lesbian. just. just like yeah. i think the most prominent character that she flirts with (other than alice) is mally. from what ive seen it only really happens when its el dormouse on stage but before i started seeing that i always saw mally/absolem/thackery as like, a trio. i mean obviously everyone in the band are friends, but idk. i have lots of drawings of those three hanging out so maybe thats just something my delusional brain has completely made up. but anyway the point is i dont ship those two and i sort of see them with a more sibling dynamic. mally always holds her back when shes trying to touch the little castle music box thing, at the end of sets he’ll pull her antennae to take her off stage/she'll pull him by his scarf, etc. (also theres a clip where she kisses him on the cheek and as they begin to walk off stage she turns to the crowd and mouths “no” and does the throat slitting gesture thing which makes me think theyre sorta just playing around :p)

sooo in a post a while back i said i hc her as genderfluid but ive changed my mind?? actually before i made that post i headcanoned her as trans but then switched to genderfluid and now ive uhh changed my mind again. im very indecisive like that and very easily swayed on my opinions haha,,, @ticktockteapot's metaphor for her “becoming the beautiful butterfly she was always meant to be” is very nice i like it lots. also the fact that ladypillar has a much higher stage presence than absolem (obviously not including the spiderwebs number…or crazypillar) was always so sweet to me cuz like,,,aw shes finally more comfortable being herself and performing :’)

Some RVB Gender/Sexuality thoughts~

Simmons; OK, we all know he’s trans, right? At first I almost worried thinking of him as trans would be kinda type-cast-y, but... come on. He named himself Dick. Also, he’s very much gay (just in super-extra denial, and oblivious about romance)

Grif; Bisexual (he’s had bad luck with dudes when he was younger, and his thought process basically was “OK, all these guys were jerks, and I’m also a jerk, I’m just gonna avoid guys” which was why he’s so defensive about the idea of having a boyfriend... but obviously things improve~)

Sarge; Also bi (had some old-fashioned notions about sexuality, but after seeing the young ‘uns getting more comfortable with themselves, he figures things out). He is somehow GNC and also the most man-tastic dude at the same time (if you try to get an answer out of him, regarding if this means he’s nonbinary or genderfluid or WHAT, he speaks in riddles and avoids a label... which, y’know, is fine. Yee and Haw!)

Donut; Gay (not as a joke, not in an ironic way- he is a man who is romantically and sexually attracted to men, heck yeah)

Lopez; He would claim that all “human identities are unworthy of HIM, a MIGHTY ROBOT”... but he’s bi

Sheila; Nonbinary and genderneutral (still mostly uses she/her pronouns, and even when she’s one of the bros, she’s still a Lady~)

Church; Bi-bi-bi! Also, nonbinary (there’s an AI joke about binary code in there somewhere), and when he thinks about it, leans toward bigender too (Epsilon would also be bi and nonbinary, but perhaps more comfortable with genderfluid. both are just Some Dude, but in very GNC ways)

Tex; Bi and nonbinary as well, also vibes with genderqueer

Tucker; if somebody twisted my arm and demanded that ONE character be the token cis/het... I guess that would be Tucker (but honestly, every single person who thinks of him with any other orientation? you are 100% correct. in my own head, I feel like he just never had a chance to even fully think about his sexuality beyond “women hot”. like, every dude he had the beginnings of a crush on? it was never at the right time for either person, so nothing ever happened)

Caboose; Bi and polyamorous (he’s actually had more luck with past relationships when he was younger than most of the others... does he understand Tucker’s weird perv-jokes? nah. does he understand, very intimately, how romantic and sexual relationships work? absolutely)

Kai; She’s tried several different identities in her life, usually just jokingly saying “My gender is HOTTIE, and my sexuality is MORE PLEASE”. In seriousness, she’s bi (and when somebody else explains the colors to her, she also likes using pansexual- it has blue like her team, magenta/hot pink that works as her brother’s team, and yellow like her armor). Also, she’s intersex~

Carolina; Realized she’s bisexual (back in the day, they never got to talk about it much, but York was genderfluid and bi. South was a lesbian, and North was ace. Connie was bi and trans. Wyoming was bi and aro... and somehow homophobic at the same time. Maine was gay and polyam. Florida was pan and genderqueer)

Wash; Asexual, gay, and trans!

Triplets; We know that Ohio is a lesbian, while Iowa is bi, and Idaho is ace

Doc; Aromantic and Asexual (O’Malley is as well, but they both still enjoy affection... O’Malley just won’t admit it)

Locus; Gay (despite having a life full of many experiences, he never explored much with sexuality or relationships, and had bad info when he was younger... he’s figuring things out now, and also finding better quality men~)
