Buck: Alright, here's the deal. It's been a bit hard to convince Eddie that this is a good thing, but you'll help me crumble up his defence. Jee-Yun: *tilts head cutely* Buck, triumphantly: That's right. No way he's going to say no with you by my side, princess. Uncle Eddie's going to buy anything Uncle Buck wants when we use both our eyes at him! Jee-Yun: *claps excitedly*

After watching ep 1 of 911 s7, I was left with this kinda… ig weird (?) feeling about the Chris and Buck conversation. Not only bc I never imagined Chris to be a player (that was my sweet lil boy😭), but because to me it felt like,,,, really uncomfortable and SO different from their usual conversations and dynamic.
But THEN I realized why.
This is the first time that Eddie recurs to Buck for an actual coparenting feat that doesn’t involve physically saving somebody from like,,,, horrifying situations (tsunami, the shooting, the meltdown). When in the interviews they said Buck and Eddie were getting closer than ever this season,,,,, 👁️ I can’t keep Buddie-speculating cuz we’ll see, but this- this is real u guys.
Don’t get me wrong, Buck’s always been a coparent (cough cough, the will). Besides the previously listed Disasters™️, he makes sure the kid eats, goes to school, is safe, is warm, listens to his dad, etc. NOW? Now he’s in charge of a really delicate situation, and that’s b o u n d to be uncomfortable,,,, like tell me ONE parent who’s ready or excited to have this kind of talk with his kids???
Yall know what this means right ????? Actual parent!Buck (<33) who Eddie actually leans on for you guessed it,,,, coparenting.

The way that Tommy looks at Buck like what he has to say is worth all of his attention.
Because he remembers that first night when Buck told him how hard he had been working to get his attention.
Buck being nervous and kinetic and just overthinking everything and Tommy just softly saying “Evan” putting his hand on top of Bucks.
Tommy ending their first date early, because Buck really didn’t seem ready, knowing it was the right thing to do, but still feeling bummed because he really liked him, a lot.
And Buck reaching out to Tommy the next day because he really did like HIM a lot too, and couldn’t just let him go without telling him he wanted to be ready…for something…with Tommy
Tommy telling Buck he was jealous of the 118 being a family. And Buck inviting him to the wedding..to celebrate with that family.
Buck just being Buck and wanting to spend time and be with this new very interesting person and giving zero f$cks about people having issues with it being a man.
The way Buck talks about Tommy to Maddie and Eddie. Because he just cannot contain how much he likes him. And ok, yes he’s a man, but that’s not as important to Buck as how he feels about Tommy and how Tommy makes him feel.
To see these two navigate this. Because yes, this is Bucks bi-awakening, and Tommy is clearly the more experienced one.
But we all know that Buck is really good at loving the people he loves. And the 118 is really good at supporting their family.
It’s the ultimate win win. Buck will get a partner who truly sees him for who he is, values and supports him. And Tommy is going to be part of a family.

Jee-Yun: Bahbuhjahbih.
Eddie: You want your teddy bear?
Maddie: Awww, you can understand her?
Eddie: Buck talks the same way when he's drunk.
Buck: HEY!

*Buck driving Jee-yun to school*
Buck: Ok Jee, tell uncle Buck again, what are you not going to do in school today?
Jee-Yun: I will not hit the other kids with a light saber.
Buck: And why are you not going to hit them with a light saber?
Jee-Yun: It is my toy, and it is my choice, but if I hit them with the light saber, I’m acting like a Sith.
Buck: Do you want to be a Sith?
Jee-Yun: No! I am Ahsoka!

Conversation
Maddie, apologetically: The legos have to stop.
Buck: But, but Jee-Yun loves them!
Maddie: I know, but Chimney keeps stepping on them.
Buck, huffing: Sounds like his problem to me.
Maddie: Buck.
Buck: Fine! But as soon as he stops being stubborn about needing glasses, the lego journeys of Buck and Jee will continue.

UNCLE BUCK & JEE-YUN + their matching white shoes
[Image ID: three gifs of Evan Buckley and Jee-Yun Buckley-Han from 9-1-1 episode 6.08, "9-1-1, What's Your Fantasy." They are at Buck's apartment while Buck babysits for Maddie and Chimney:
GIF 1: Jee-Yun running through the apartent with an armful of toilet paper dragging on the ground behind her.
GIF 2: Buck chasing after her, skidding to a stop to hover his hands over the toilet paper littered on the ground before deciding to leave it and chase after her again.
GIF 3: A closeup shot of Jee-Yun's white shoes as she runs to the other side of the apartment, then Buck's white shoe as he chases after her.

"Oh I see," Maddie nods conspiratorially after her daughter whispers in her ear. "Jee wants to give her Uncle Buck a hug, is that okay?"
She gives her brother a worried look, that stands at odds with the cheerful tone of her voice, and Buck tries his hardest to reassure her with a tired smile (and despite the hospital setting).
"Always," Buck replies, his voice still a little croaky from the vent, as he reaches his arms out towards his niece.
"Okayyyy,” Maddie says to her daughter in a sing-song voice, “but we have to be gentle sweetie.”
"Gentle," Jee says, repeating her mother's instructions to the letter with a firm nod as she reaches out with her tiny hands. "Gentleee," she repeats, stretching the word out as she pats her uncle’s chest, and Buck’s undone at the softness of her gesture.
A little break from the angst for once!

The fact that we saw Chim interact with Denny last night really drove home a few facts:
That Chim and Hen and their respective families are very close and know each other so well they can have rather deep conversations on tough topics
That, however, this is one of the —if not THE— first time we see Chim and Denny interact meaningfully one on one.
That it heavily contrasts with how often we get scenes with Christopher and Buck spending time together.
In this very same episode, we are presented with the Diaz’s casually spending time at the loft and Chris and Buck hanging out together and cooking for his whole class.
Now, no one would deny the importance of Hen and Chim and each other’s lives but I think what this really drove home is the point that the level of involvement Buck has in the Diaz’s lives is not the standard for this shows’ platonic relationships.
