Buck has never really believed in the concept of Valentine's Day.
It's all just commercial bullshit that companies use to trick people into spending even more money on useless presents and confectionary. Still, it hasn't ever bothered him that other people do in some way celebrate Valentine's Day. Not usually.
Not unless it's Eddie, who he thought disliked Valentine's Day even more than Buck does
(It has something to do with Shannon, Buck thinks, something from the past that Eddie never explained but that seemed to hang over his head like a dark cloud during the first week of February.)
"You're what?" he asks, a little dumbfounded, only barely managing not to tilt his entire cup of steaming hot coffee all over his uniform.
The faces of the rest of the team are similar to what he's feeling, all looking at Eddie in surprise.
"I'm going on a date," Eddie repeats as if it's the most normal thing in the world for him to say, as if he didn't tell Buck only a few months ago that he wasn't ready to date again anytime soon. Then again, that was before that whole sexuality crisis he went through. "My aunt set me up with this guy she knows from the community center, I've met him once. He's nice."

"On Valentine's Day?"
He must hear the skepticism in Buck's voice, and he rolls his eyes at it, though the way he crosses his arms over his chest makes it clear that he is going into defensive mode, empty coffee cup dangling from one finger.
The others are watching it like it is entertainment, and Buck is a little surprised that none of them have spoken up yet, considering Hen and Chim are usually the first to pry and tease about things like these.
"Yes, Buck, on Valentine's Day," Eddie says with a sigh, and he puts his empty cup down on the table with more force than necessary.
"Isn't that a little intense for a first date? You're going out with a guy for the first time on what is supposed to be the most romantic day of the year?" Buck asks.
He sees Bobby raise an eyebrow from the corner of his eye where he's been working on preparing them some breakfast, his hands stilling where he was chopping up fruit. Yeah, Buck did go on a date with Abby on Valentine's Day, but that didn't exactly end well, didn't it? Both the date and the relationship.
Eddie seems to be getting a little frustrated, letting out an annoyed huff as his shoulders tense and his frown gets deeper.
"Aren't you the one who always says that Valentine's Day is bullshit? And now you're saying it's too serious to have a first date?"
Of course, Buck could argue something eloquent, like the fact that his opinion of Valentine's Day doesn't change how other people view it, and that it could influence the expectations that Eddie's date might have considering Eddie agreed to meeting on this particular day.
But he isn't really thinking clearly since the only thought running through his head is "Eddie is going on a date with someone else" and that is even more distressing knowing it's a guy than before he even knew that was an option for Eddie. Because before, Buck didn't even think he had a chance.
"I'm just saying, you said you weren't ready to date yet, and now you're going out with some random guy on Valentine's Day?"
He's silently begging Hen or Chim to say something, preferably to side with him, because the tension is growing and this can get very awkward.
"Jesus, Buck, it's just a date," Eddie says through gritted teeth, throwing his hands up into the air. "Why is this such a problem to you?"
The way he puts stress on the 'why' is what ends up making Buck snap. If Eddie wants to know why, then who is Buck to withhold the answer to that from him?
"Why? Because I’m in love with you, that’s why!"
Chim's eyes go wide and Hen almost chokes on her coffee. And Eddie, well, he's staring at Buck as he stands there frozen in place.
"I, uhm, I just remembered I left something in my locker," Hen says before she gets up and slips away, and Chim hurries after her, almost tripping over his feet and not even bothering with an excuse. When Buck looks to where Bobby was, he can just see the captain slipping away to his office, leaving him and Eddie all alone.
"I just…," Buck mutters, running a hand down his face as he tries to find the right words. "Sorry, I didn't mean to say that. But the idea of you going on a date with some guy on fucking Valentine's Day and it becoming your great big love story or something... I don't think I can handle that."
He shakes his head, crossing his arms over his chest, and he can't look Eddie in the eyes. This wasn't supposed to come out like this, it wasn't supposed to come out at all.
There is a sharp intake of breath from across the table, where Eddie is standing, and Buck glances through his lashes to see Eddie nodding, seeming anxious but determined.
"Okay, yeah, okay," Eddie says. "I'll cancel the date."
Buck's head shoots up.
"You'll what?" he asks in an echo of the question that started all this.
Eddie looks straight at him, nervously chewing on his lower lip.
"I'll cancel the date. And, you know, since that means I'll be free on Valentine's Day, if you happened to have something to ask me..."
Is Eddie challenging Buck to ask him out? This doesn't feel like it's real, like it's actually happening, but when he pinches himself it hurts.
"You, uh, you-" He has to clear his throat before he can continue, feeling like the words are stuck. "Do you- do you want to go on a date with me? On Tuesday?"
Eddie doesn't answer right away, as if he's trying to make Buck suffer through even more anticipation, something that shouldn't surprise him considering that he knows who he's dealing with.
"Yes, Buck, I'll go on a date with you on Tuesday," Eddie replies, and Buck's heart quite literally skips a beat as a grin finds it way onto his face.
And Eddie, Eddie suddenly seems almost shy, but he smiles and nods when Buck says: "I'll pick you up at seven?"
Just like that, Buck has a date on Valentine's Day with the man he's in been in love with for so long he can barely remember when it started. Now he just needs to hope it goes better than last time.

No no bc I had the same thought bc I want it to parallel Buck ripping Eddie’s shirt open in the ambulance in 4.14!!!! That would be so fucking delicious and such an amazing parallel. But whereas Buck immediately started to help stop Eddie’s bleeding, I want Eddie to rip the shirt open but be paralyzed when he sees the scarring. Bc he fucking realizes how severe the situation is and how hurt his partner is. Imagine him kinda being stuck and maybe he gets pushed to the side which is why he’s not the one helping with the compressions. DID YOU THINK OF THAT?!? THAT EDDIE IS LOSING IT AT THE IDEA OF POSSIBLY LOSING ANOTHER PARTNER THAT HE JUST FREEZES UP?!?! I WILL SCREAM 😭😭😭

okay i am gonna ask about two because i am greedy and i am desperate to know about recreational slut shaming and to be lonely is a habit
i think i've discussed recreational slut-shaming before and it's kiiiiind of a follow-up fic to the LAFD calendar fic except it has like nothing to do with it. But in my head it's the same cinematic universe. It's an established relationship fic where buck has a little bit of an exhibitionist kink and eddie finds a way to indulge it (by fucking him in a bathroom).
Eddie indulged Buck’s exhibitionism in other ways—sometimes by sending Buck sexy texts and pictures when he knew he was out and about, sometimes by leaning over to whisper something dirty in Buck’s ear when they were in public together, and most often by describing a perfect, filthy fantasy of public sex while fucking him safely behind closed doors. Once in a while, Eddie would oblige Buck with a makeout in the car or some other less-than-private location, getting him riled up before taking him home and taking him apart.
For Buck, who is already outrageously, deliriously happy with their sex life, these concessions are more than enough. And even if they weren’t, he would never, ever want Eddie to feel pressured to do anything that makes him uncomfortable just to please Buck.
So, when they decided to go out for beers on a Chris-less evening, Buck hadn’t been angling for anything in particular. He thought maybe they’d do some shameless flirting thinly disguised as playing pool, maybe some light groping in the parking lot, and then drive home for several rounds of enthusiastic sex.
Which is why he’s not prepared when Eddie pushes him against the door of the single-stall bathroom and kisses him so deeply Buck feels it vibrate through every inch of his body.
And to be lonely is a habit...probably gonna be a while before I get to this because I'd like to finish roommates fic first, but it's a post-s6 fic where Eddie breaks up with Marisol and pines relentlessly for Buck, who thinks Eddie is heartbroken about Marisol. There's a lot more to it, and I haven't completely plotted it out yet, but here's a small snippet that may or may not stay in:
“Okay, then what about Natalia?”
“What do you mean?’ Eddie asks. “I don’t hate Natalia.”
“You don’t like her,” Buck insists.
Earlier that day, Natalia had stopped by the firehouse to drop off a sweater Buck had left at her place. Bobby had invited her to stay for lunch, and it was the first time Eddie had spent more than a few minutes in her presence.
The thing is, Natalia is—she’s nice. She’s sweet, and charming, and seems to genuinely care for Buck. Eddie doesn’t have a problem with her. He’d gone out of his way to talk to her, in fact. To try and get to know her. To see whatever it is Buck sees in her.
“I barely know her,” Eddie hedges.
“Eddie,” Buck says. “I know what it looks like when you’re being genuinely friendly. Today wasn’t that. You have a problem with her, and I want to know what it is.”
“I don’t have a problem with her,” Eddie says, scrubbing a little more vigorously. “But even if I did, why would that matter? You’re the one dating her.”
“Because you’re my best friend, and your opinion is important to me,” Buck says. “So what is it?”

The sea breeze rushes into the conservatory and swirls past Madeline's swishing skirts as she rushes through the door.
"I am leaving tonight." She announces. There's a firm set to her shoulders and a proud lift to her chin that Evan hasn't seen in years. "I will not do it anymore, I refuse to die in that house and he will surely kill me if I stay."
"You have a way out?" Evan asks.
"I have a friend in the shipyards, he works on one of the boats. They've been docked for two nights but they set sail again at sunrise. He says he can grant me passage."
Evan nods sharply. "And you are sure you can trust him?"
"Yes."
Madeline has been searching for an escape from her horrible husband for months. The marriage was arranged by their late parents before their mother died of influenza and their father’s fishing boat sank in a storm. Their parents were always looking for ways to climb the social ladder and make it in polite society, even at the expense of their own daughter’s happiness. A marriage to a member of the King's Royal Navy should have guaranteed them that. Arguably, Captain Kendall, despite his beady eyes and flagrant personality, had seemed quite proper during their courting, it was after the marriage took place and Mr. and Mrs. Buckley passed with a month of each other, that his truer colors began to show.
The first night that his sister had shown up on his doorstep with a black eye and matching handprints around her wrists Evan had threatened to kill the man himself or at least turn him over to the King’s Guard. But Madeline had argued that as Captain of the Navy, Doug was in most ways above the law, or at least capable of bending it, and so turning him over to the proper authorities would do little but make her life more complicated.
Evan nods. "Then I am going with you."

I think Buddie does check in texts whenever they leave separately, just to let the other know they made it home safe
While it's scary working a dangerous job with your life partner as your work partner, it's a whole lot easier for them than working separately
I think when they get married they get their rings tattooed so they never have to worry about taking the ring off for work

Wylan loves stealing Jesper's shirts and Jesper loves seeing Wylan in his clothes

Of course!
So isolated Merlin is for my BTH bingo card for starters! And it's Merlin in the present, basically a hermit who has spent the centuries living in a cabin in the woods. He's stayed there since the last of Arthur's knights have died and Camelot has faded away into legends. And this whole time he's been kept company by everyone's ghosts but Arthur's, who have all tried to get Merlin to live his life rather than let the guilt eat away at him.
And one by one they've come back to him as they've been reincarnated, making sure that he'd eat and, you know, not die, until Arthur finally comes back and then it's a whole Thing of him trying to smack the sense back into Merlin.
Honestly, it's going to be one of my angstiest fics and I am dreading/living for it.

DARLING MISS MOLLY I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT "bandaged hands" PLEASE ILY 💖
ooooooooh idk if i've talked about this one much! But it's set after the lightning strike and Buck has gone home from the hospital but is still in his recovery era. Eddie is being super skittish around him because he doesn't know how to hand all the big emotions (so valid of him). Buck has a cooking mishap alone in his apartment and Eddie is next up on the Maddie™ babysitting schedule so he finds Buck trying to take care of his burned palms. They have a moment and Eddie flashes back to how the lightning had left burns on Buck's palms (in the hospital bed bucks hands were bandaged and i just couldn't get the image out of my head)
The blast of heat when he rips the oven door open nearly has him recoiling, but he’s already reaching inside the oven to pull out the steaming roast — his thoughts on what he’s going to do with it once it’s out. Maybe he can leave it on his balcony until the smell clears up, or maybe one of his neighbors will appreciate it.
Buck realizes his mistake when he looks up and locks eyes on the oven mitts sitting unused on his countertop.
Everything had been going so well.

Babe if buddie has their fist kiss in the rain I will SHRIEK! They've had two of the most devastating moments of their lives in the rain, BECAUSE of the rain, and then for it to come fill circle and them wash away that terror and pain with a cleansing kiss in the rain OH MY GODS!

No bc my love it makes sooo much sense?? Like if we think about Buck and Eddie (and to some extent Christopher) what’s one thing that plays such a key role to all their traumas?? WATER! Tsunami aside, Eddie was literally buried alive because of a rainstorm and lightning. We saw Buck screaming for Eddie, digging to try and save him with his bare hands. We saw him completely and utterly distraught at the idea of losing Eddie. The team had to treat Buck as if he was any other victims family member bc they knew how much the idea of Eddie being gone was killing Buck. Then we get yesterdays episode where once again water plays a huge role in another traumatic experience. Buck and Eddie both get zapped by the lightning and Buck is left in critical condition. That’s putting it lightly bc we all know he died. Eddie’s anguish and heart break was heard through his screams and his desperation in pulling him to safety was not missed by anyone. Water has always put these guys in danger and they both now have experiences in losing the other to water.
So as you said, imagine having things come full circle to the point where once again, whatever is going on between these two idiots, they are so afraid of losing each other. Not bc of anything work related but maybe they’re just scared to take that risk and confess their feelings. And imagine the angst of them standing in the rain, begging the other to just open their eyes. And then iimagine both of them being charged and taking control of the rain and using it to cleanse them of all their trauma and fear. They kiss and it’s charged like lightning and it’s soothing and they’re so in love and the rain is washing away all their hurt and worries. GAH JUST IMAGINE THAT???? I really need this now 🥹

boys are super drunk and so pining over each other that they forget biology
They hear loud sounds of people screaming and turn their heads. There are two people in marriage clothes kissing while others around them are cheering.
“You know, some years ago, after Shanoon I wasn't sure if I would ever want to get married again. But now I think I actually want to get married one day,” Eddie`s drunk voice attracts Buck's attention and he turns back to look at Eddie.
Buck thinks it can be his chance. He wants to marry Eddie, but he needs to make Eddie marry him. He is quiet for some minutes trying to find a reason for Eddie to understand that he should marry Buck. Eddie doesn't look at him and just continues drinking.He looks so good that Buck just wants to kiss him. Eddie is just so perfect, kind and caring. Buck wanted to confess and propose to Eddie all last week when Eddie took care of him while he was sick and threw up constantly.
Buck feels that he found the reason for Eddie to marry him. The only person he was in bed with for the last months is Eddie. Maybe they once had sex and just forgot. But symptoms can`t lie. It wasn't stomach flu. He is … pregnant. From Eddie. And Eddie said himself he married Shannon because she was pregnant. He would marry Buck. Buck feels how he smiles brightly. He is going to marry Eddie and has a kid with him.
“Eddie, I need to tell you something,” Buck makes eye contact with his drunk eyes with Eddie`s drunk eyes. “I'm pregnant. it's yours.”
There is a silence for a minute and then Eddie jumps from his seat.
"We should get married. Let's go, Buck"
Tattoo master Buck
“Hey, sorry for the waiting. My boss detained me,” a voice goes from Eddie`s left but before he turns in his seat the person appears in front of him. “I`m Buck. I`m your tattoo master.”
Eddie thinks he can't die right now. The man in front of him is so hot. He wears a gray tank top which shows you his massive hands full of tattoos. Eddie wants to bite him and lick all his tattoos.
Eddie shakes his head, slaps himself mentally for being horny about the man he just met. But he forgives himself. The guy is a walking sex and Eddie just came out.

so i was thinking either younger buddie, being roommates in college (or maybe at the fore academy, sharing a flat while they go through training??) and buck is spiderman. so like he's always coming back to their room at weird hours and he's very particular about his stuff and sometimes he has the weirdest, most inexplicable injuries??? and then eddie's like holy shit, you're spider-man aren't you??
