no but i love the idea of them growing old so

after they retire i think they both get a little restless but especially buck, so he starts a bunch of little projects— like gardening outside the house, with dirt stains on his jeans and the sun hitting him in the face as he hums under his breath. and eddie would watch him with the fondest, biggest heart eyes ever leaning on the door. i think buck would also take crocheting or knitting and he would be really bad at it at first but he'd get better and better and would knit/crochet for all their loved ones.

oh oh! i think buck would kinda freak out when his hair starts going grey. he would be in the bathroom, watching himself in the mirror with a grown, frantically running his fingers through his hair and leaning over the sink. and eddie would walk behind him, wrap his arms around buck's waist and kiss his neck with a small but satisfied smile curving his lips.

buck would turn around and be like, why are you smiling? with a pout on his lips and eddie would just shrug calmly. because, they're growing old together!!! and that's something that he would never ever take for granted after all their near misses and near death experiences.

and also because there was a time where eddie never thought he would get this at all. that he would get to be this happy with the man he loves. so he just looks at buck and shrugs, "i just love you so much. and you look hot with grey hair so stop freaking out and come to bed already." and he'd kiss buck's birthmark above his eye, slap him slightly on the ass and walk to bed to wait for his husband.

also, they always fall asleep during movie night and they wake up with really sore necks and backs bc they're too old to be sleeping in a tangled mess on the couch. eddie would wake up groaning and complaining and buck would tease him about being the typical grumpy old man.

oh, they also adopted a little girl so when they're old, the holidays are packed with family. her and christopher visit from college and then years down the line with their own family and buddie gets to spoil their grandchildren rotten.

buck stills plays with them and picks them up every chance he gets and he's always competing against eddie for the best grandpa title. (it's always a tie, except when he sneaks in candy or ice cream after dinner for them.)

My predictions for season 7, if they do make buddie canon: episode one there'll be some sort of soft opening, something that looks like it could be romantic, but still deniable given what the writers have claimed as straight so far, and Buck and Eddie will most likely still be with Natalia and Marisol respectively, but some issues start to spring up. For the next few episodes their relationships (with each other and their girlfriends) will be a sort of latent plot point, there behind everything, but not the main focus of the episodes. Episode 4, the famed Buck Bothered Bewildered, will focus on Buck (shocker) and his feelings and I think will end with him breaking up with Natalia, but Eddie will still be with Marisol. then in ep 5, Eddie will be having some problems with Marisol, as Buck starts to realize his feelings for Eddie. Buck goes to talk to Eddie, knowing that he and Marisol are on the fritz, but he sees them making up and decides to walk away. the episode ends and we're slapped with a two-week hiatus before episode 6: the Madney wedding. Episode 6 is super awkward between the two of them, but then there's some emergency (maybe before the wedding?) that the two of them have to handle and they end up trapped together (think mini bottle episode) and they start to work their shit out, and are let free in time to make it to the wedding, but not change.

not sure if they get together in the wedding episode, or the last episode, because I feel like they would get together in the wedding episode, but I also feel like the writers would leave it to the last minute.

thinking about the fact that when eddie told buck about the will it's because he knew buck needed it.

thinking about the time eddie will finally tell chris about the will and maybe he did after the lightning. i know chris has had abandonment issues, and seeing buck like that would've scared the kid. maybe even after buck's recovery, chris is still wary about it.

so eddie sits him down, tells him that buck will always fight to get home to him and that he won't ever want to leave him.

buck hits snooze almost 10 times every morning but as soon as he is out of bed his a super chipper morning person. meanwhile eddie gets up at the first ring of the alarm and is grumpy for the next 1-2 hours.

buck drinks his coffee with a ridiculous amount of sugar and flavourings and eddie drinks his black. but they willing drink each others without any complaints. (except if they’re playing it up to make fun of each other at the firehouse)

buck always drives, it’s just something that happens, eddie has terrible road rage but is fine if he isn’t driving. sometimes when buck gets really animated about something he’ll take both hand off the wheel to gesture, this is the only time eddie wishes he was driving instead.

Headcannon for Buddie after retirement?

I think that they do a lot of volunteering for the fire department! Like, they might not be able to go out on calls anymore but they aren't done being firefighters. I like to think that they do programs with kids or maybe schools on fire safety 🥺 other than that I think they take it easy, they do barbecues with the firefam and babysit their grandkids if chris ever has kids and I think they spend most of their days just, in love and with family

when buck gets reallyyy drunk, he gets this awful and hilarious british accent that everyone finds ridiculous. (except eddie, eddie finds it incredibly hot but only bc he's pathetically in love with buck and it's embarrassing honestly)

hen, chimney, buck and eddie have a movie night all together once a month. buck and eddie usually fall asleep and hen and chim take pics of them, tease them and every now and then play a prank on two.

eddie steals buck's clothes. it started probably after the well incident— buck lent him his hoodie on the way home bc eddie could not stop shaking and he wanted to keep him warm. and then... eddie just forgot to give it back (on purpose but shhh) and every chance he gets he takes one of buck's tshirts or hoodies. they're just softer than his and they smell nice and no one has to know, okay?

YES okay I have a couple.

Buck always cooks. And I know this is lowkey canon too but, Buck will go out of his way to make sure Eddie doesn't get into the kitchen. It's not even because he thinks Eddie's a bad chef, it's just become such a thing now that Buck uses Christopher to distract Eddie at dinner time so he can make them something. Eddie obviously knows what he's doing but he's also figured out that Buck, much like Bobby, uses cooking as his way of showing his love for his family so he lets him do it. Plus, Eddie set fire to toast one time and doesn't want to have to explain that to the 118 if he ever does that again.

If they have kids, they will always read a story together before the kids go to sleep. Christopher is old enough that he doesn't want that anymore so Buck and Eddie give him some space (they still are allowed to tuck him into bed though) but with the little ones they cuddle them on the rocking chair in their nursey while the other reads the book. Buck hates putting them back in their bed at night because he loves holding them while they sleep but Eddie doesn't want them to be too dependent on them for when they have their 24/48 hour shifts

Buck sleeps on the left hand side of the bed and Eddie sleeps on the right. Idk why but that's how it works

Eddie realised how much of a black thumb he was and did a whole load of research into how to properly take care of plants. Him and Buck now have a beautiful backyard with immaculate grass that Eddie mows religiously, and has beds full of beautiful flowers and there's even a veggie garden that Christopher helps care for. Eddie tends to the plants on his days off and will hurt you if you scuff up his grass

At night, Eddie reads books while Buck scrolls through his phone, often interrupting Eddie to tell him fun facts he's learnt during his deep dives. Eddie usually lets him tell him around 10 things until he initiate his "no talking, brain needs to wind down" rule, which is as much for Buck as it is for him

I loveeeeee girl dads Buddie so so damn much. I just feel like both of those men are so soft and they would be such doting and affectionate girl dads. I’m not saying they’re not already bc they so are with Christopher. And I feel like both Buck and Eddie have so much love within them that they can share it amongst their other kids if they choose to have more. I always go back and forth about this topic bc I genuinely believe Christopher is enough for them. But I also wanna see them all experience adding a new addition to their family. I want to see Christopher being a loving older brother. I want to see them struggle to figure out bows and braids and tutus.

So I guess, idk I always headcanon they go the surrogate route and Buck is the bio dad bc I can very clearly envision them having a baby girl with his curls and blue eyes. And I know it’s been said in like every girl dad fic ever but I think Eddie is the kinda sappy romantic that would want an offspring of Buck. He would wanna look at her and see a mini Buck.
