Last ask (sorry for bombarding you) once the grandkids collect themselves (or at least try to), they have a change in style. Go here for inspo, and they're personalities are a mix of Harley Quinn and their old selves. Like comedic villains but you can see the pain and insanity in their eyes.
Dolores - went back to being silent and reserved but all willing to execute, if need be. Listens for information on Alma and the other adults. Blackmails the town for supplies, she knows everyone's secrets so she can get anyone to do what she and her siblings want.
She blackmailed the local seamstress into letting her siblings stay in her house and allowing Mirabel to use all the fabric and thread she needed to give them new outfits/wardrobe.
While in the seamstress's house they all act like it's they're house and SHE'S the guest. But she knows better than to speak up about it and is always polite to them...hoping they spare her life.
Camilo - Comedic, funny, joker vibe. He's taking an interest in theater and pranking people of the village with...not so safe pranks. that includes his and others' parents. He's also the bomb guy, he makes bombs out of fireworks and unsafe chemicals.
He also cooks and bakes, he's the main cook in their small little family. Dolores easily blackmailed some poor soul into giving them free meat, herbs/spices, and whatever else he needs to cook with.
Mirabel - Bubbly, "sweet", always with a smile, main one with ideas, Harley Vibe. She's all of her siblings' seamstress but sometimes when she's tired Dolores and Isabela will help.
The designs of the clothes are very colorful and spontaneous. All with their respective favorite colors, which aren't magenta, yellow, orange, Blue, violet, dark blue, or any color that resembles the family they used to be in.
The outfits are usually knee length skirts, colorful pants, or pantsuits for the girls. Suits, dress shoes, and other types of boyish clothing for Camilo and Antonio.
Isabela - more prone to lash out, poison ivy vibe, more hateful but kind to her hermanitas and hermanitos, "calm", stoic, also the main one with ideas.
Luisa - "Calm", trying to be more fun, Harley and Spinel vibe: Goofy, unhinged, outbursts (not toward her family), intelligent, cunning, still emotional. She's usually the one
Antonio - He's going back to be shy and quiet. All his older siblings give him animal books to read and coloring books to color while they scheme. Dolores also blackmails the toy store owner into giving her free toys for him. At this point they are all putting their effort in to raise him themselves.
He knows what they are doing, he's not a stupid kid, thanks to Alma. He's been raised to be very aware of his surroundings and to notice every single detail in things. So, he knows his siblings are plotting to make the madrigal house crumble, he just doesn't care.
"To hell with them"
All madrigal kids have a small portion of their gifts. Isabela can make small plants appear here and there. Luisa can still lift some heavy stuff but not anything close to houses. Camilo can shapeshift but only for five minutes at a time and the scar in his face makes it hard for him to blend in.
Thankfully makeup exists in Encanto.
Mirabel can still make diamonds and crystals, but they are break pretty easily. She can't make much jewelry anymore but she something new.
She can make beautiful weapons for her to use when the time comes. The only she has to do is to sketch a few ideas on paper and concentrate more on what she wants to make. In the past, she didn't have to concentrate all that much.
It gives her a headache, but she can withstand it. in the end she has the pretty glass/crystal weapons she wanted.
But of course, these are just suggestions and you can edit things to your liking.
Literally love all of these. I probably won't get to this AU for a long while, I have a story I promised someone back in April that I'm posting tonight, along with finishing all my other stories. I will let you know when I've got something written out and I'll run it by you before posting

Cuando la veo (Julieta x F!Reader) part 3
part 1 <<>> next
__________________________
You tried not to cringe too much from the people’s gazes, and kept your eyes fixed on the ground, just wanting to disappear. You wish you were in your room reading and pretending you didn't exist in this strange place. It wasn't that you didn't like Encanto, it really was a warm and welcoming place, and little by little you began to understand why your aunt referred to it as magical, but that didn't mean you were ready to be a part of society again.
You had barely been there a week, but your aunt had already done her work and it seemed like everyone there knew about you, leaving you standing in a sea of people you didn't know as they stared at you, it was overwhelming. You didn't want to sound paranoid, and a part of you knew that you were being irrational, that it was silly to think that people were paying attention exclusively to you, but you couldn't shut out that damn little voice in your head that told you that everyone was looking at you suspiciously, that no one wanted a foreigner there or that they didn't think you'd be good enough to replace your aunt as the town seamstress. You knew it was your own thoughts and insecurities, but it didn't stop you from feeling a terrible urge to cry. Suddenly you felt that you were crashing against something or someone and that you lost your balance.
"Woah, are you alright?"
You grunted a little as you felt your nose begin to throb due to the impact, and cursed yourself for being so clumsy and not seeing where you were going. You felt a hand on your hip and one on your shoulder, helping you keep your balance, and it took a moment for you to recognize that someone was calling out to you.
"Miss?"
You finally looked up and saw a young man, perhaps a few years younger than you, handsome, with a sun-tinged complexion and deep brown eyes that seemed too cold and calculating, as if they wanted to scan you completely to find out who you were and all your history. He made you uncomfortable and your cheeks turned red with sick embarrassment. Still, you supposed you shouldn't be rude and at least thank him for not letting you fall.
"I'm fine, thank you, sir..." you said, taking a few steps away from him
"Sánchez" he replied "Damián Sánchez, at your service"
You couldn't help but wince a little at the arrogant, demure tone with which he said it, as if he was expecting you to be impressed, cheered, or at least bow respectfully. But you didn't, you just forced a smile that you hoped was kind enough and nodded.
“Nice to meet you” you said “Y/N…Y/N Y/L/N”
“Y/L/N?” he was surprised, though he recovered quickly "are you related to Laura Y/L/N then?"
"She is my aunt" you answered, with pride
"I didn't know she had more family" he said, like it wasn't a big deal.
You felt a chill run through your body and for a second you had the intention of letting him know what you thought, making him apologize for his indifference and telling him to leave you alone. But what reasons did you have to do it? You really weren't anything special and you couldn't expect people to treat you as such.
You were about to apologize for bumping into him and hastily retreat, when a young woman your age ran towards him, throwing herself around his neck with an excited and childish cry, almost like a little girl running to her father. You assumed that she was his girlfriend or something, although the tremendous resemblance between them made you question it. A sister maybe?
"I told you not to do that" Damián growled, pulling away from the girl.
"Oh come on, you know I'm the only one who can put up with you, so you have to put up with me too" she laughed, ruffling his hair much to the man's anger.
“Enough, someone’s watching”
You really felt like throwing up when he pointed his chin at you as if you were something mundane and unimportant and the girl looked at you as if you were nothing more than decoration of the town, one more plant perhaps. What an uncourteous pair.
"Oh, wow" she said without further ado "You're not from around here, are you?"
“Uh, I-” stammer, you didn't expect such a direct question “No, I just got here” you said awkwardly
"She is Laura's niece" Damián said coldly "her name is Y/N"
“Y/N? How simple” the girl said, invading your personal space and playing with your hair as if she was analyzing a new doll “at least you're pretty”
"T-thank you?" you whispered
You really wanted to get away from there, every second you spent in the presence of these people made you feel terribly wrong and uncomfortable. You were definitely going to try not to run into them again, though with a town as small as this, you didn't know how successful you could be at it.
"Enough" Damián said, pulling her away from you "I'm sorry for my sister's behavior, Miss Y/N, she gets…excited when she meets someone new"
“Pff, like there are a lot of new people to meet in this fishbowl”
"Her name is Cassandra" he told you, ignoring her
"But you can call me Cass" she winked at you "and I don't allow anyone to do so, precious"
You didn't know why, but you had the impression that in fact, she did allow everyone to do so. Refraining from rolling your eyes at the obvious flirtation, you clenched your fist into the fabric of your skirt and forced a smile that you were sure was more like a wince.
"Nice to meet you" you said
"I'm sure" she smirked.
They looked at you with tremendous intensity, as if waiting for you to say or do something else, but you just wanted to run out of there. They really gave you a bad feeling, and if you weren't determined not to make your aunt look bad, you would have just walked out. But you still knew manners.
"So, do you have a boyfriend?" Cassandra asked, with a poisonous, fake smile.
You visibly swallowed, trying not to show how much you were affected by the question, as your hands tightened, creasing the fabric of your skirt beyond recognition. Was that really the first thing she asked everyone she knew? Or had she just decided to tease you for being new in town?
"No" you said dryly
"Oh, a girlfriend then?"
You widened your eyes and blushed when you registered the flirtatious and deceitful tone with which she said it. Sure, your aunt had told you that in that place these things weren't as taboo as in other parts of the world, although there were still people who disapproved of it, but to ask you so directly? Damián must have sensed that her sister was crossing several lines because he quickly took a step closer to you, slightly pushing the girl back.
"Enough, leave her alone" he scolded her
"Oh come on, I'm sure at least someone has caught her eye" she replied with a pout "isn't that right, Y/N?"
The way her blue eyes flashed with mischief and arrogance made you wish you'd gotten out of there as soon as you could. However, what really turned your stomach and aroused a new wave of guilt in you was the fact that an image of a certain older woman appeared in your mind, with beautiful skin, rivers of silver on her head, and a pair of brown eyes as intense and beautiful as the universe itself.
Cassandra didn't miss the change, albeit subtle, in you, and her sly smile widened. You wanted to kick yourself for that, but luckily, heaven took pity on you and sent your own angel to rescue you. You smiled with relief when you saw your aunt arriving at the market, apparently looking for you, and had to restrain yourself from running to her like a frightened child.
"Y/N!" Laura called you
"I'm sorry, I have to go" you told the Sánchez siblings
You didn't even wait for them to respond before you walked firmly but quickly away from them. As you got closer to your aunt, the air seemed to get lighter and your heart slowed considerably, as if your mind and body decided that you were no longer in danger.
"What were you doing with those people?" your aunt asked you as soon as you got to her
You were surprised by the cold and cutting tone of the woman. She never spoke ill of anyone, nor did she complain or try to put ideas or prejudices into your head, but she seemed quite annoyed, or perhaps worried to see you talking to those two.
“I tripped and the boy caught me, that's all" you said
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah"
"Okay" she nodded "be careful, the Sánchez are not trustworthy people, especially that little girl of theirs, what was her name? Cordelia? Carmel?”
"Cassandra" you corrected gently
"That" she accepted "She’s never given me a good impression. She is used to having everything she wants when she wants it and without deserving it, it's better not to deal with people like that"
You nodded obediently and walked beside her in silence. Your mind was divided between the bad feelings that Damián and Cassandra left in you, why your aunt, who always saw the best in people, did not trust them and why your treacherous mind had evoked the image of Julieta Madrigal when Cassandra had asked if anyone had caught your eye. Sure, sometimes you remembered that brief but intense moment when you met her, mostly because up until now she had been the only person who hadn't made you nervous when you met, but that didn't mean you had an interest in her…did it?
_____________________
"Dear"
"Yeah?"
You looked up from your plate, trying not to sound so elated, so your aunt wouldn't realize that she had caught you daydreaming. A couple of hours had passed, but you still couldn't forget the incident at the market and the damned inappropriate thoughts that had arisen in you. Why couldn't you get that woman out of your mind?
"I was thinking... maybe it's a good thing you took a cooking class" your aunt said softly.
"...sorry?" you blinked confused
"Oh, don't look at me like that, sweetie" she laughed "it's just, I don't want you to stay locked up here all day, you need to distract yourself"
"What about the workshop?" you asked
"Oh, we both know it's still a long time before it's functional again" she smiled "besides, you wouldn't go every day if you didn't want to, but I can't cook all the time, right?"
Your nerves and the anxiety that was beginning to build up in you at the idea of going to class with a complete stranger gradually faded away when you noticed your aunt's tone and mocking smile. She was really trying to be very supportive of you and you weren't exactly making it easy for her, the least you could do was play along for a while.
"Just a week and you already want to get rid of me?" you joked
"Never, my little alhelí" she laughed, stroking your cheek gently.
You enjoyed the soft, familiar contact for a moment, before your mind really considered the proposal. You didn't want to, you really didn't want to have to deal with strange people, not yet, not when your soul was still bleeding from Santiago's departure and your stomach was twisting with guilt for Alma Madrigal's daughter. However, you owed it to her, you owed it to your aunt to start walking little by little again, you owed it to the memory of your past relationship to be happy again, you owed it to that girl abandoned at the church’s altar to transform you into the best version of yourself. And at that moment the most important thing was the first step.
"...maybe it's a good idea" you said
"Would you really like it?"
"...I think so"
You smiled at her, to keep her from feeling bad or from thinking that she was pushing you into something. You really wanted your life back, to stop having so much pain in your chest, to be able to really smile and not to keep up appearances. A little cooking class couldn't hurt, right? It would help you distract yourself, to regain at least a little of the control you had lost in those painful months that would soon become a year.
"Excellent!" Laura said, squeezing your shoulder "and I know just the perfect person!"
You couldn't help but shudder a little at the older woman's smile. It was loaded with kindness, but also with mischief and complicity, as if she had been waiting for you to fall into a carefully placed trap for a long time. What the hell have you gotten yourself into now?!
