“Never”, Rhys said from where he finished buckling on his own weapons against the side of the wagon. “I have never once seen Azriel let another person touch that knife.” Elain looked up at Azriel, their eyes meeting, his hand still lingering on the hilt of the blade. I saw the painting in my mind: the lovely fawn, blooming spring vibrant behind her. Standing before Death, shadows and terrors lurking over his shoulder. Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two. The only bridge of connection … that knife.

You know what cements my opinion Gwynriel is endgame? The sequence of events in ACOSF.

We have the Hewn City scene where Cassian raves about Nesta and Feyre in Night Court Black, but for Elain he specifically mentions it sucking the LIFE from her and it leeching the brightness from her face.

We then move onto Solstice where Nesta herself makes a comment about the Black dress being I'll suited for Elain.

Also, that same night, we have Azriel Bonus Scene where he clearly tells Elain "This was a mistake" and clearly hurts her. It's another form of rejection for Elain after her ex fiancee. Also, he admits his shadows are always prone to vanish around Elain and skitter back at her breath. He also felt wrong when putting the necklace on Elain. He never thought past his sexual fantasies of her even though he can plan a year in advance for a snowball fight.

We then have his scene with Gwyn right after where she gets him to reveal he does sing and it's not because he's a Shadowsinger, and its something personal about him. We have his shadows dancing with her breathe and after something restless settles in him, his shadows calm and are content to sit on his shoulders. We have him gifting the necklace to Gwyn through Clotho (anonymously) and he leaves that interaction with picturing how Gwyns teal eyes would light up, him consciously erasing the slight smile it brought to his face, and him tucking the thought away deep down where it glowed quietly.

After Solstice, Gwyn and Azriel moments pick up.

We have him looking at Gwyn with admiration and quiet encouragement shining from his face and stilling, along with the world, when Gwyn cuts the ribbon and becomes the first Valkyrie in Nesta book.

We have the banter between them and Nesta saying Azriel was the new ribbon.

We have Azriel shadows dancing around him as he's conversing with Gwyn.

We have his shadows deepening around Azriel and his siphons gleaming like cobalt fire when Cassian mentions Emerie and Gwyn being hurt in unspeakable ways, and Azriel saying 'You- we- trained them well, Cassian. Trust in that." And this coming from the same person who said Elain shouldn't be exposed to the Trove....

Sarah set up and worded certain scenes in ACOSF deliberately. You can't convince me otherwise that with all this she isn't going to have Gwyn and Azriel as endgame.

Day 9 of sketching Elain Archeron EVERYDAY until her book has a release date.

I took requests for Elriel sketches in my story on Tuesday. Some of the requests were solstice and flower crowns for #elriel and well, here you go. I’m shaking, their friendship, relationship? Is so pure.

I can just imagine Azriel cracking a quiet joke to Elain and Elain of course made everyone flower crowns. Too bad in reality they are just both suffering in silence.

Gonna go cry now. See you all tomorrow.

Even rhysand knows what azriel and elain “relationship” is

note how at the end he doesn’t say if you need someone to love or pine over. he say if you “need to fuck someone”, with this and azriel saying he hadn’t got so far in his planning beside the fantasy’s he had of elain (he was in azriels head when he was talking to elain had he of seen something of romance he wouldn’t have said this!!)

if after Rhys had asked his plan, az had replied with how much he loves her or how much he wants a life with her (after all it’s been 2 years of knowing her) we would say okay and step back, gwynriel would probably never have been a thing.

yet he doesn’t talk of how he loves her instead he thinks about her only in a sexual way!

Lucien's Gifts To Elain

Lucien gifts to Elain are soooo much more meaningful than a generic necklace.

He gifted her ENCHANTED GLOVES that would protect her hands while she gardens during the first Solstice. This was a very well thought out gift for his mate who loves to garden.

For the second Solstice, he gifted her PEARL EARRINGS. And you know what's said about pearls themselves?

If someone gives you a pearl, they probably care about you very much and want to express their love in a unique and timeless way.

In ancient Rome, pearls were seen as a symbol of purity, loyalty, and innocence.

Those pearl earrings were given to Elain by Lucien with longing etched on Lucien's face. He is loyal to her and only her and that gift shows he cares very much for Elain, even if she might not return the same sentiment right now.

With these gifts,, Lucien is trying to show Elain he cares for her, knows her, and would protect her from any harm. Even with the distance between them right now.

And I have a feeling Elain was uncomfortable with the pearl earrings gift, and around Lucien, because Lucien sees her and she is scared that someone who isn't close to her at the moment can see and care for her so clearly.

I am 63% of the way through Part 1 of ACOSF on the graphic audio (it's 32% in the full ebook). I just got past the scene where Nesta snaps at Elain and says something along the lines of "You're finally becoming interesting." I don't know if I just don't remember this being mentioned before or if it has genuinely been glossed over in the fandom but... Elain offered to find the dread trove? She just came in and said she'd do it? There was no hesitation from her.

I don't recall hearing about this and I feel like this alone is so telling of her character and her future that surely someone would have pointed it out already. I mostly see people posting about her response to Nesta, calling her sister out, but not about the fact that she said she'd look for the dread trove. Actually, it seems like Elain was determined to track it down before Nesta even stepped into the meeting, based on Feyre's response.

Elain has grown so much since being made. How do people find her boring? She wants to be an active part of the Night Court and the world around her. Better yet, she is not backing down from Nesta's wrath, she is holding her ground. She is not weak just because she is soft. Her willingness to fight, in her own way, tells me of her strength, and of the potential for her to be a main character.

I am so excited for her book, I want to tear my skin off.
