it’s kind of. it’s like asking someone you love that it’s okay to talk to you about their problems. saying it’s okay to not be perfect.

this song is technically about the transmasc experience in a conservative area but i think some of the messages fit anderperry so well!!

learning from someone wiser that you don’t need to be ashamed of yourself, the hate you can get from your family for being queer, the fact that there is nothing wrong with you and your gender and your sexuality and your dreams, very dps coded

it also discusses the fact that oppression of young queer folks can often lead to suicide

Now Danny didn’t mean to make a Bootube channel. He’d meant to send that sleep deprived ramble to Tucker, but he had clicked on the wrong app and yeah. Apparently people enjoy his space rambles- or it could have been the ghost blob-cats that had decided to flop onto him. (Honestly he wasn’t surprised they would start to mimic the shapes of things in their surroundings)

Tucker? Found it hilarious, as did Sam and Val and… um, okay this has become their shared channel now, nice. Though there are some strange comments on some of the videos. Really, what do they mean green sky and crazy tech???

the feelings i have about sibling bonds and relationships are completely normal and i have proportionate amounts of emotion towards these in media. i care about these two brothers just as much as any regular joe. These sisters do not inhabit an above average space in my brain. this pseudo parental figure births the same emotions in me that they do anyone else.

there's a Vibe to some of Kesha's older dance hits that feels so dark and melancholy under the party hard attitude, like the partying is a coping mechanism and something to get lost in and hoping you won't live to see it end (all that makes so much sense after learning about the shit she went through)

but those songs always give me such a wild Kitty, Johnny, Ember vibe, like every time I hear songs like Die Young I think of Kitty and Johnny being alive and partying and escaping from the hard lives they live

and then I hear that song from the deconstructed album, where it's stripped to just vocals and organ music, and I think of them as ghosts, still trying to find that escape

and same with Ember and the song Blow, the deconstructed version of that song is haunting

the two different versions of those songs just make really cool parallels between their lives and their afterlives

anyway, I have them lined up back to back on my DP spotify playlist if you want to check it out yourself

I might make another post about the songs I've put in the playlist because I just have So Many Thoughts

So I said I’d drop my Dead on Main playlist over on AO3, and specifically the one I’ve been listening to to write Dead and Loving It and today is the day!

But there’s some things y’all gotta understand along with this link because I will not listen to complaints

1) there are at time of posting 3 explicitly sexual songs on this playlist. Noah Davis and ur pretty are the artists to avoid, but I’ll add more if I find ones I like, because:

2) this here is a living document. No idea how other people do theirs but this playlist is going to change, usually getting longer but occasionally I’ll trim some songs back.

I am maintaining this playlist in two locations already, so no, I will not make a third without the sexy songs but if someone else wants to go nuts

If you want a safe and nonsexy Dead on Main playlist I highly recommend @stealingyourbones’ it was them sharing theirs that made me finally go make mine but I didn’t look at theirs until I finished my first draft and the number of songs we had in common gave me giggles

I have since then 1000% stolen a couple more for various other playlists but we’re married so it’s okay xoxoxo

3) I absolutely take suggestions but there are no guarantees on when I’ll check them out or if they’ll go in

4) It is SO IMPORTANT to me specifically that you know that iamjakehill and ur pretty are the same artist. Just. So important.

A DP ficlet inspired by @wsoupofpain ‘s Substitute Blank AU which I am thinking about all the time, but specifically also her DannyMay piece found here. Also, there’s a playlist associated with the AU now, the decision that i have made.

Her fingers want to shake as she zips up the suit, but she doesn’t let them. Tucker is watching her suspiciously; she hadn’t wanted him to be here, but he wouldn’t let Danny go alone. She didn’t want Danny here either but the portal was in his basement, so she didn’t have a choice. She doesn’t want them here, but she’s glad they are, because Sam isn’t sure she has the strength to die alone.

Danny is poking at buttons, doing his best to remember how his parents turned the portal on. It’s complicated, and while she doesn’t know what is involved, she does know what comes next. It doesn’t turn on properly. Someone goes inside. Something comes out.

A deep breath. A hand on her Magen David. Responsibility and love and fear all mix inside her. The last few moments she may ever have, with friends who don’t remember her laugh and smile and bad jokes the way she remembers theirs. Her hand tightens on the points. She can be the one to protect them this time. She lets it go, and slides on the gloves.

She understands that she needs more to be able to keep this sustainable. She can’t keep fighting like this, with equipment she doesn’t understand and a body that can’t take a hit. She has to keep the town safe and she can’t bear to ask it of him, and something deep inside her aches for it. The power. The responsibility. She has always been fighting wars she cannot win; but with this she may have a chance.

Sam Manson has thought through every scenario. She is choosing this fully informed and aware of what comes next. Someone has to die inside the portal, and she has decided it will be her. Danny finishes setting the dials and she finishes tying her shoes. Tucker sets his phone down. Her world condenses so that it fits inside Danny’s basement.

There is only this - the hastily-made patch on Danny’s suit, an attempt to make it her own and not his; the bruises and scrapes the suit covers up, accidents and trophies of fighting ghosts with mortal flesh and bone; Daniel Fenton in front of her, alive wholly and completely, because she did not kill him and put the responsibility of the world on his shoulders. He asks her if she’s sure. She says no.

There is only this -

Her footsteps echoing as she steps into the portal.

The hum of the fluorescent lights above her.

Danny and Tucker watching, worried. She loves them.

Her hands want to shake as she reaches for the button.

She doesn’t let them.
