I don’t have a problem with people learning about facts, like Yea, a bunch of newer people are coming from dsmp and what not, of course they don’t always know facts only mentioned in streams or old videos. My problem is that they’re acting really weird about it… they’re adults. Like Grian has mentioned he’s married a few times, he has some photos posted on his Instagram- and people are acting like “how come I didn’t know this private adult man is married WHAT, he’s only mentioned it a few times????” (it’s an over reaction on my part but still kinda what they doin) the hermits very much so have a online presence separate from them irl, they’ve been creators longer than dsmp members so they’ve grown into that. I feel like the new people don’t realize that- that creators aren’t just creators- they’re grown adults. Like this is their job, their job isn’t their entire life, they have a very good balance of their online and personal lives. And I don’t think new fans get that completely.

I have a radical proposal which is that actually Ed is a person who just had serious pre-existing issues that were triggered by a long series of blows starting with betrayal by his former first mate and old friend (meaning two people here), surrendering to the English, giving up his identity of years, rejection by his love, mockery by his new crew, and harsh words/more rejection from his oldest friend/subordinate.

It makes sense for Izzy and Stede the CHARACTERS to feel responsible for Ed's downward spiral, but we don't have to treat what they say as fact.

We the audience have the ability to see the larger picture and say "actually, Ed was teetering on the edge of this since we first met him after a lifetime of trauma and this probably needed to be addressed before he was ever going to be stable and happy."

Look I’ve not properly spoke on my mixed Tommy feelings because I HAVE been neutral to him and let those feelings go but I desperately need people to know that if they wanna talk about him being redeemed or having made amends (which is fair enough and I respect that) to also acknowledge that he did those things

You cant say he’s redeemed from something if youre minimising or denying it happening (that’s why in his first episode back I legit rewatched and made a list of the things he did because I saw people pretending none of it happened)

Like personally one of my best friends when I met her I hated her cos she was really repressed and had a lot of internalised homophobia and misogyny but ive seen how environment and like stuff can make it near impossible to go against that so I completely sympathised
