Even a strong interest that you’re very invested in. Hyperfixation stems from a persons inability to properly regulate focus. Hyperfixation is when a person becomes so fixated on something that they literally cannot stop focusing on it. Not something they just like or think about a lot. It is caused by an inability to focus a normal amount on something to the point were it disrupts their life because they are not focusing on anything else such as the world around them. Hyperfixations do not even have to be about something you like. Hyperfixations over things that you dislike or even that actively upset you can and do happen. Using hyperfixation as a replacement term for an interest is harmful because not only does it water down the terms and misconstrue what it is for people who can’t have hyperfixations, it also misconstrues it for people who do who may not realize that they are going through this struggle because what a hyperfixation is has been portrayed incorrectly to them.

As an on again off again alcoholic who has tried and tried again at recovery, I find myself in a space now where I'm starting to lose my liver function, and I'm now therefore chronically ill. And it sucks, I've tried medication that just exacerbated my mental health issues and I'm signing up for my fourth AOD service. It will always be my fault that I'm chronically ill, but the idea that there are good disabled people and bad disabled people kicks people like me out in the cold.

I think everyone deserves equal opportunity to access disability services, get government pensions, use mobility aids, etc etc, without people going 'actually, you did this to yourself'.

I’m not accusing anyone of deliberately spreading misinfo, but after seeing those supposed “screenshots” of JKR’s new book, I was honestly utterly DELIGHTED... only to find that nobody could give me a source beyond “it’s from her new book”. I went online, and after a fair amount of research, have found references to the book’s bare-bones plotline as described... but not a single reference to the “screenshots” or the quotes contained therein, outside of tabloids/scandal sites. I also couldn’t find a SINGLE pdf or ebook available to check for myself. What I’m saying is..... I want those to be real. I really, REALLY want them to be real, because it would be HILARIOUS. But it honestly seems a more than a little too good to be true, and my research hasn’t exactly been promising. SO, does anyone know where to pirate this? Does anyone have a reliable source (fact-checked news, established writer, even just a long-running blog) that includes a primary source (so not just reblogging the images with no link to the original)?
