Summary: Wally had it good. He was the Track Star of his high school, people fawning over him, anyone he wanted.
The only problem was that now, in his last few years, he'd missed a couple things. Things being credits.
Now he's stuck in theater class. It's not all bad, how could it be when his first day included falling into the arms of the cutest boy he'd ever seen?
Theater Kid Dick x Track Star Wally AU (co written with @daisha-mochizuki)
“West, my office, now. ”
Wally looked up from his track shoes that he was tying to his feet only to find his coach very pissed off and storming off to his office with a bunch of folders in his hands. He cringed as the door to the office slammed shut, and he sighed as he stood. As he walked, he kept his head tilted downward to try and avert himself from his peers’ gazes, as they either gave him concerned looks or glared at him.
He stood in front of the desk, fingers tapping against his upper thigh anxiously.
The coach sat, folding his hands together and leaning his head on them before looking up.
“Why are you here, West?”
Wally rocked on his tiptoes. “I-uh, I was hoping you could tell me that, sir.”
The coach watched him with an unimpressed look, spreading out the papers from the folders out in front of him. Even from upside down, Wally could see they were charts and grades, as well as tables. He’d always tried to keep his grades afloat because otherwise he wouldn’t be allowed to play.
“Well, according to this, you’re missing your visual and performing arts credits by a huge amount. You have a bit before you graduate, but you’ll only make it out of this school if you start gathering them now.”
Wally sighed to himself.
This was going to be a long conversation, wasn’t it?
“Thank you, sir, I-”
“I’ve already enrolled you into a class myself,” the coach interrupted Wally, sliding a new schedule sheet across his desk over to Wally, who was standing there stiffly. “You’ll start your new class tomorrow. Rest up. We need you for this team.”
He was shooed out of the office with only a schedule in hand, staring at it without reading the words. The world felt numb as he trudged back into the locker room, the world blurring out his teammates. He re-dressed slowly, before tying his black combat boots and going back outside, unwilling to face his teammates.
Instead of sitting out on the bleachers to watch the practice, he went to sit under a tree overlooking the field.
Sighing, he unfolded the schedule to look for the highlighted class signifying his new one.
Theater - seventh period. Teacher - Dinah Lance.
Theater? Well, his parents had always told him he was a drama queen…
He walked into the place marked on his schedule, his boots creaking the old wood beneath his feet as he walked along the stage, trying to find someone, anyone, to signal that he was indeed in the right place.
“Hello…?” he called out tentatively, carefully trying to pull back the deep red velvet curtains that were drawn shut. He screeched and nearly toppled over as a hand was thrust through the curtains and grabbed him by the collar of his T-shirt to yank him back into the curtain-abyss.
Wally held up his hands, taekwondo style, and quickly looked around for whoever had dragged him through. He was met, however, with the searing stage lights being flipped on and shone directly in his face.
“State the reason for your presence.” A low voice growled.
“Um, this is my seventh period now?” He squeaked, shielding his eyes. “What the hell is this, a cult?”
“Close enough!” A different voice chirped, moving the lights from his eyes and allowing him to look around.
In front of him, a tall, blond woman smiled at him, extending a hand. “Forgive the theatrics, my students like to have a little fun with the transfers. I’m Dinah Lance, I'll be your teacher for the rest of the year.”
“Wally West. Nice to meet you,” Wally murmured weakly as he took his new teacher’s hand, shaking it gingerly.
“Wally, then? Artemis here will give you the tour.”
A blonde girl stepped forward, having come from the lights. “Hey. I’m Artemis, and damn, we got you so good!”
Wally grumbled to himself, glowering at the girl, apparently Artemis. He crossed his arms over his chest and turned his face away when the girl held out a hand for him. Artemis rolled her eyes and grabbed Wally, dragging him along despite his annoyed facade. Wally yelped, stumbling.
“You should get used to it, Baywatch, that’s how we work around here.”
“Baywatch?” Wally looked down at himself, catching a glimpse of his face in his reflection. His black beanie slipped up, allowing for his bangs to float into his face.
“I feel like you watch shitty daytime TV,” Artemis shrugged.
He scowled, following her as she pointed out several different areas and teams with specific names. He wandered after Artemis, his eyes flitting around as he tried to observe and intake all of the information he was quickly learning.
Wally had always been a trouble magnet, however, and managed to find it in the most random of ways.
Today, it took the form of a clump of loose wires strewn across the backstage. Artemis stepped over it easily and he moved to do the same, but followed her hand to where she was pointing at the set-builders. A boy was there, outlining a piece for an outdoor scene, and right as he turned, the other boy misstepped, shutting his eyes as his whole body was to inevitably hit the floor face first.
Instead, he landed with a soft whoomph against a warm body. He looked up, blinking up as the brightly shining light above them led him to the most beautiful blue eyes he’d ever seen.
It was a normal day, alright? Playing knight in shining armor for boys in too much black was not something on Dick’s agenda.
It was the props and stage day and everyone was helping out. He was humming along to one of the broadway soundtracks playing from a nearby speaker on low, and losing himself in the swoops and swerves of the lines, thick strokes of dark color being left behind in the wake of his brush.
He had missed the customary ‘scare the ever-living shit out of the new student’ ritual, but trusted that one of his friends had recorded it. He could hear Artemis’s voice droning on about the theater and turned to wave her over.
The student following her met his gaze, flashing Dick a glimpse of striking green, before the person tripped and ended up promptly falling flat on their face.
Well, they would have, if DIck hadn’t dropped his brush the moment he saw the kid’s foot catch in the wire and bolted forward.
He caught the kid with ease, waiting until they turned to look at him, dark eyeliner making the disoriented green eyes even wider.
On top of being the most dramatic person to grace the school’s theater class, Dick was also known for being a bit of a flirt, and upon seeing the situation, his brain to mouth filter broke completely.
“Well, new kid, looks like you’re already falling for me.”
Wally gaped at him, wondering how the extremely attractive boy who was cradling him in his arms just shot him the most appropriate and horrible pickup to ever grace his ears.
“W-what?” He stammered, unsure if he’d actually heard correctly.
Pretty boy laughed, embarrassed flush coming over his cheeks. “That was bad, sorry. I’m all about the drama, and a pick-up line or two is always fun, even if I never pick anyone up with them.”
Well, you've sure got me. Wally laughed nervously as the thought popped in his mind. “Thanks for catching me, man.”
“Oh!” He stepped back, placing Wally back on the ground and dusting him off. Wally let himself be manhandled, looking at the boy's full form.
“My pleasure. You got a name, new kid?” His mind blanked at the question, until he realized that the boy in blue was awaiting an answer.
“Oh…um, Wally. Wally West. Well, Wallance if you wanna be formal, but no one callsmethatbut myMomwhenshe'sangry-”
The boy cut him off with a laugh, the sound ringing in his ears like the song of a windchime.
“You’re a rambler, aren't you?”
“M’on the track team, my mouth and my feet move quicker than my brain sometimes.” He then got a mischievous smirk on his face. “What about you, Gorgeous? Got a name?”
The other boy fumbled in turn, flushing red. “Dick Grayson.”
Wally bit back a joke and grinned. “Nice to meet ya.”
Artemis clapped Wally on the shoulder as she decided she was finished watching, causing the redhead to jump and squeak in response, the boy snapping out of his stupor. “C’mon, pretty boy, you need to finish the tour. You can get handsy with good ol’ Dick here later.”
Wally choked on air, Dick doing much the same. “I wasn’t-we weren’t-”
“M’kay.”She smirked at Dick, Wally taking note of the dirty glance from the other boy. “C’mon, Baywatch, we’ve got another half of the theater to discuss.”
Wally looked back at Dick, a sort of hopeful look in his green eyes. “I’ll, uh, see you later?”
His voice raised an octave at the end, causing Dick to chuckle softly. He offered the redhead a small grin and a wave. “I’ll see you later.”
Wally’s grin grew wider, but he was very quickly dragged off by an annoyed Artemis, who was muttering under her breath as she led Wally back on the path they had been on before. He couldn’t help but look back, however, and saw the deep blue eyes still trained on him, following after him. The sight and thought caused a rush of warmth to flood through him, a tingling pleasant sensation setting off flutters at the pit of his stomach.
Maybe theater wouldn’t be so bad after all.

LÉGENDES DU JAZZ
DINAH WASHINGTON, LA REINE DU BLUES
"She could strut through jazz, slide through pop and break your heart with ballads {...}. Dinah Washington could work magic with a song, taking it apart and stitching it back together in her own quirky and moving way."
My Man’s an Undertaker.”
En mars 1955, Washington avait enchaîné avec l’album ‘’Dinah Washington: For Those in Love.’’ Arrangé par Quincy Jones, l’album comprenait des standards du jazz comme ‘’This Can’t Be Love”, “I Could Write a Book” et “You Don’t Know What Love ls.”
Parmi les autres succès de Washington durant cette période, on remarquait "I Only Know", "I'll Never Be Free", "It Isn't Fair" et "Time Out for Tears."
Participaient également au concert Little Richard, The Mel Williams Dots, Julie Stevens, Chuck Higgin's Orchestra, Bo Rhambo, Willie Hayden & Five Black Birds, The Premiers, Gerald Wilson and His 20-Pc. Recording Orchestra et Jerry Gray and his Orchestra.
Les deux chansons étaient tirées de l’album The Two of Us.
He took out his trusty drill. Told me to open wide. He said he wouldn't hurt me, but he filled my whole inside."
She was a good friend of mine, you know. She was great. She used to just come in with two suitcases in Vegas without being booked {...}. And she'd stay as long as she wanted. And all the kids in all the shows on the Strip would come that night. They'd hear that she's in town and it would be packed just for her performance.’’
Ces enregistrements étaient: “What a Difference a Day Makes”, “Teach Me Tonight” et “Unforgettable”.
‘’[Washington] was at once one of the most beloved and controversial singers of the mid-20th century – beloved to her fans, devotees, and fellow singers; controversial to critics who still accuse her of selling out her art to commerce and bad taste. Her principal sin, apparently, was to cultivate a distinctive vocal style that was at home in all kinds of music, be it R&B, blues, jazz, middle of the road pop – and she probably would have made a fine gospel or country singer had she the time. Hers was a gritty, salty, high-pitched voice, marked by absolute clarity of diction and clipped, bluesy phrasing.’’
Loin d’être seulement une chanteuse de blues, Washington avait inspiré le commentaire suivant à Betty De Ramus et Leslie Gourse du magazine Ebony: "She could strut through jazz, slide through pop and break your heart with ballads {...}. Dinah Washington could work magic with a song, taking it apart and stitching it back together in her own quirky and moving way."
Dans son autobiographie publiée en 2001, le producteur et arrangeur Quincy Jones avait décrit le style de Washington de façon colorée en écrivant qu’elle pouvait ‘’take the melody in her hand, hold it like an egg, crack it open, fry it, let it sizzle, reconstruct it, put the egg back in the box and back in the refrigerator and you would’ve still understood every single syllable”.
Comme l’avait expliqué son ancien époux Eddie Chamlee: "Dinah would take pills, drink and forget she had taken her pills."

More on my Reverse Robins AU, this time with the Batgirls. Going off the general premise of this AU (Namely setting aside anything after Damian’s introduction/ the Batman reborn era for now. (I might come back to it… idk)), we’re not counting Stephanie’s time as Batgirl which means we’ve got two Batgirls (three if you count Helena’s brief stint, but she’s in the middle so it doesn’t change.) My ideas for this part is much looser since I’m only about 20 issues into her Batgirl run. Ideas from people who know about her are welcome.
Cass is the first Batgirl. She’s older than Steph, shows up in Gotham as a young adult a few years into her tenure as Batkid. Becomes Batgirl independently of Batman. Maybe she wants to emulate him as part of her drive for redemption. I’m just not sure what exactly her time as Batgirl looks like. There’s probably still the meta re-writes her brain so she can understand language plot point. I’m really liking her relationship with Barbara so far in the Batgirl comics, but that’s obviously not happening here. I’m not sure if she’s got someone else like that in her life and if so who it would be. She isn’t adopted by Batman in this AU, but they work together as allies on occasion. (Steph thinks she’s kick-ass and cool. Probably has more than a little hero-worship for her.)
It’s not the Joker who forcibly retires her. He was after Barbara because of her connection to Joker. (Also, I’ve decided the Joker is a c-tier batman rogue at best in this AU prior to it’s version of the Under the Red Hood Arc) Possibly it’s Shiva. The details are still fuzzy.
I can’t see Cass taking on the Hacker/Information Broker roll in the same way that Barabara did as Oracle. At least not with computers, too much reading and text there. I could see her being an information nexus in a more word-of-mouth type way. Maybe she has a network of all the people she’s ever beaten up who owe her favors. Maybe she does consulting with her ability to read body language. I think her working with the suicide squad could have some interesting stories. (Though I haven’t actually read any suicide squad comics, so idk.) I could also see her as the sort of weathered martial arts master master who has a steady stream of students who come to learn from her. Maybe she uses them Birds of Prey style to fight crime. I do think Cass should be friends with Dinah Lance though. I think they would have a fun dynamic.
What this brings us to is No Man’s Land, a comics arc that I care about a perfectly normal amount.
Barbara Gordon, freshly graduated from high school, volunteers to stay with her father and step-mother in No Man’s Land out of a stubborn sense of civic pride. She wants to help desperately but as one of the youngest people in the Boys in Blue contingent and also the commissioner’s daughter, they keep her as sheltered as they can. She ventures out further into Gotham on her own, scavenging, keeping her head low, looking for information. It’s on one of these expeditions that she runs into Cass.
Cass stayed behind in Gotham. She’s running her own little corner of it. She’s convinced by Barbara’s determination and enthusiasm to start training her. Later, won over by her heart and the necessity of acting when Cain is sent after Jim Gordon, she gives her the Batgirl Mantle.
(In this AU, I don’t think Helena takes on the Bat mantle even though I do love that plot point. Steph stays in Gotham when Batman vanishes. She never quite left the city in the way that Dick did. She was Batman/Batwoman (haven’t decided yet) during the Knightfall saga, she takes on some of that again.)
(If Helena does take up the bat and is treated as Batgirl like she was in comics, Cass takes exception with her claiming of the mantel on grounds of her moral code.)
Barbara does not tell her father about Batgirl. For one, that’s her dad and she’s an adult now. For another, Gordon is in the middle of his mad at Batman phase and she’s just not going to get involved with that.
She continues to act as Batgirl throughout No Man’s Land, receiving mentorship not only from Cass, but also working with Spoiler and Azrael on occasion. Batman knows who she is. He makes some pointed comments but honestly isn’t as much of an ass to her as he could be.
Regrettable, I think Sarah Essen still dies during No Man’s Land. Not at the hands of the Joker because he’s dead in the universe, but whoever Batman’s number 1 evil rogue is. Batgirl isn’t able to save her in time. She internalizes that.
Barbara continues to act as Batgirl after No Man’s Land, fighting crime, kicking ass, and receiving mentorship from Cass. She goes back to college, at Gotham University this time instead of the Ivy League school she was originally accepted into. (She left when No Man’s Land happened, making the idealistic sort of stand teenagers are prone to doing.) She hangs out, fights crime, and occasionally flirts with Robin who’s cute if a little young for her. At some point she probably learns that Bruce Wayne is Batman and has to process that fact. Still doesn’t tell her dad anything. Fun times, fun times.
Widely hated Evil!Babs character assassination arc and Dick becomes Batgirl during the Batman!Reborn era

Day by Day
TimKon, High School AU, Mental Health issues, Hurt and Comfort, Adopted sibling relationship, Developing relationships.
Summary:
After moving to a new city with his brother to start fresh and to begin healing, Tim agrees to attend counselling sessions to keep his family happy.
As he attends the sessions he unexpectedly he meets another teenager who captures his attention like no one has ever done so before. Unfortunately for him this teenager, while alluring, brings Tim a whole new set of problems he hadn’t been prepared for.
Being made to push his boundaries and testing his mental strength, Tim finds moving to Metropolis isn’t as easy as he originally thought it would be.
Also on A03
Enjoy! :D
“I know I’m a mess, I don’t need anyone telling me that.”
“That’s a pretty solid statement to make. Would you like to explain to me what you mean by that Tim?”
“No, not really.”
“I understand it’s difficult to talk about, but you’re doing the right thing, recognising the problem and reaching out wanting help. The worst thing you can do is keep it inside you.”
“I’m not here because I want to be.”
“Why are you here then?”
“Because I promised my family I would do this.”
“If that’s the case you could always lie to them, say you’ve been when you really haven’t.”
“I couldn’t do that to them. Plus they’d know, they’re practically detectives, hell my oldest brother is a cop after all.”
“You care about your family.”
“Of course I do.”
“And you’re here talking to me because you promised them you would. Why did you make that promise in first place?”
“I don’t want them to worry any more than what they already do. Them thinking I’m getting help, will help ease their minds. If I can help them worry less then that’s something I guess.”
“So you’re not here for your own benefit, but only to please your family?”
“It’s not like that! I know I need help but I don’t want it. I’ll be fine, I always have been. My family do everything they can to help but sometimes it just isn’t enough. I don’t want them to worry about me that’s all, they all have so much on their plates already, they don’t need my drama as well.”
“I understand that Tim, but what-”
“I don’t want to talk about it anymore! Let’s talk about something else.”
“Of course... we can revisit that another day. How did your history test go yesterday?”
=========
As the automatic doors open, which lets him out of the building and outside of the school, he lets out a sigh of relief and shoulders his backpack. He hates going to counselling. It always leaves him feeling emotionally drained, personally attacked and exhausted. Who even likes talking about their emotions?
Tim certainly doesn’t that’s for sure.
As he said to the counsellor, a blonde woman named Dinah, he goes because of his family. They worry about him and his mental health. He knows he’s not exactly well, the last year has been rough for him, it would’ve been for anyone, but telling them he’s fine wasn’t enough for them to be convinced. He felt bad for being an inconvenience to his family with his problems when they struggle with their own, they didn’t need the drama of Tim’s life to be added to their already full plates.
After several long talks, a few arguments and shared tears Tim and his family finally came to a compromise which lead to Tim agreeing to see a counsellor at school. It didn’t stop his family from worrying about him of course, but they seemed to be more at ease knowing Tim is getting some form of help.
“Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.”
Tim’s brought out of his thoughts at the voice and looks up. He finds his brother leaning against his car on the main road just outside of school. He was wearing his signature leather jacket, jeans and black boots, the whole look was screaming ‘bad boy.’ Some girls who were still lingering around despite it being after school were stupidly falling for it if their gawking looks and giggles were anything to go by.
Tim rolls his eyes, he steps up next to Jason giving him a look, “you look like a douche.”
His brother raises an eyebrow at him before standing up and tugging at his jacket, “I think you mean I look awesome.” Before Tim could react, Jason slings an arm around his shoulders. “What’s with the long face? Fail a test? Get yelled at by a teacher?”
“Jason!” Tim squirms underneath his brother’s arm when the older starts rubbing his knuckles across his scalp. As Tim tries to break free from his grip the asshole only laughs and tightens his arm around Tim’s neck. They roughhouse for a couple of minutes before Jason finally lets him go.
“Seriously baby bird, you okay?” Jason asks looking him over, his tone having grown serious and concerned.
Tim sighs as he smooths out his clothes. “I’m fine,” he pauses to flatten his hair, “it was a hard session that’s all. I hate going.”
Jason stares at him before placing an arm around his shoulder’s once again, this time it was an action of comfort rather than playful teasing. His hand rubs up and down Tim’s arm comfortingly. “I know you do kid, but that was your what, second maybe third session now? It’ll get easier over time. Just stick through it okay.”
He’s heard it all before, pretty much from every member of the family at this point. Each time they say it, it only makes him want to roll his eyes and scoff. However he did promise them after all.
“Third time going but first proper session. The first and second visits were initial talks.” Tim mutters unhappily.
Jason hums and lets him go, he walks around to the other side of the car. “When’s your next one?”
Tim opens the car door and chucks his bag onto the backseat before climbing inside. “Monday after school.”
Jason settles in the driver’s seat and starts the car up, “Well at least that gives you tomorrow and the weekend to unwind before the next one.”
Tim hums, not really bothered by it. He doesn’t have any plans during the weekend other than doing a bit of studying. He hasn’t been in this school long enough to make friends yet. He’ll most likely stay inside and binge watch Star Wars. Maybe the Lord of the Rings trilogy instead? He’ll have to see what he’s in the mood for at the time.
Jason drives them back to their apartment and once inside Tim heads straight for his room. He collapses on the bed and stays there, unwilling to move. Eventually he gains enough will power to flop over onto his back and stares up at his blank ceiling.
Outside of school his life wasn’t very exciting. He’d either stay home to study, watch films or play video games. He may occasionally go out for a run or on the odd occasion go with Jason to his work and help out with the cars he fixes in the garage.
Tim’s the new kid at school and he hasn’t made any friends yet. There’s a couple people which he thinks he could befriend given time, they’re in a variety of his classes and Tim figures he’ll eventually work up the courage to talk to them at some point.
After staring at his ceiling for several long moments, he decides that he’s bored and grabs his phone from his pocket to play on it. Tim plays several mindless games for a couple hours until Jason calls him for dinner.
Tim trudges his way through their apartment until he gets to the small kitchen dining area where Jason has set up the table for them both. The pasta dish that was sat on the table smelt awesome and Tim didn’t realise he was hungry until he was sitting down and grabbing a fork.
“I’ve gotta stay behind tomorrow at work so I can’t pick you up.” His brother says conversationally.
Tim hums and swallows his mouth full. “That’s fine. I can walk.”
“Will you be alright on your own?”
Tim rolls his eyes at the concern. “I’ll be fine. Yes.”
Jason narrows his eyes at him before going back to his food. “Just asking, no need to get defensive.”
“Stop treating me like a child then. I’m seventeen.”
His brother scoffs but otherwise doesn’t comment. They continue with consuming their meal in silence. It’s at times like these when Tim questions whether living with just Jason is the wisest of ideas.
After everything that had happened over the last year Tim knew he needed to get out of Gotham if he was to start healing. It’s easy to say his family weren’t keen on the idea of him leaving the city. In the end they agreed to let him go but only if someone went with him and if he was to get help wherever he went. That someone happened to be Jason, his second oldest brother.
Together they moved from Gotham City to Metropolis into a decent sized two bedroomed apartment around a month ago. As they moved they worked on getting Tim transferred into his new school which he only started weeks ago. That’s also when he started counselling, as he said he would.
Tim doesn’t know how long they’ll be in Metropolis for but he isn’t in a rush to get back to the grimy city despite it being home. A lot of bad shit happened there and he needs a break from it, a chance for fresh air.
That night after finishing their meal in silence they clear the dishes away together. The next time they speak was to say goodnight before going to bed, Jason jokingly offering to read Tim a bedtime story and to check if there were any monsters in his closet. Tim laughs and tells him to fuck off before shutting his bedroom door.
========
Friday and the weekend fly by and before Tim knows it his alarm is waking him up at dawn to get ready for the disguised prison they call school. As expected he didn’t do much the weekend, which was fine by him, it was nice to have time to himself and simply do nothing.
Monday dragged, however. Each class feeling like it would never end, the teachers drawling on about behaviour and mobile usage while in class and the same old gossip and rumours going around about who slept with who. It’s all stuff Tim didn’t care for.
By the time Monday came to an end he was dreading it, it was his next counselling session. Bracing himself he walks to the small separate building where the wellbeing hub is, it’s just to the side of the main building. The automatic doors open and Tim walks through to the waiting area.
It’s quiet inside. There’s one woman who works behind the only desk and there’s only one other student there in the seated area. Tim recognises him, he was there last Thursday too, only that last Thursday Tim didn’t get the chance to properly look at him as he was called in as soon as he arrived.
The other kid was tall and Tim would guess he’s slightly built as much as a teenager could be although it’s hard to tell because of the jeans and leather jacket he’s wearing. He’s currently hunched over on his phone completely unaware of Tim’s presence as he sits down opposite him on one of the small sofa’s they have. The other student has black hair styled into a fade cut.
Despite not being able to fully see his features Tim assumes he’s good looking. From a first glance, the impression Tim gets is ‘bad boy’, which is probably the teen’s intentions and for some reason Tim also gets the vibes he’s someone he wouldn’t get along with. Then again, that’s exactly how Jason comes across, Tim really shouldn’t make assumptions.
“Tim?”
Tim blinks when his name is called. Taking a deep breath he gets up and makes his way over to the counselling room. As he walks by the other kid looks up and for the first time they make eye contact. Tim didn’t expect to see startling blue eyes from the other teen and to confirm his earlier thoughts, he is indeed good looking. Tim breaks their eye contact quickly and hurriedly makes his way over to the room where Dinah was waiting for him.

"Helena Bertinelli recognizes 3 universal truths:
1. Dinah Lance is her best friend
2. Dinah Lance was Oliver Queen's girlfriend
3. She was completely and utterly in love with Dinah Lance"
Tumblr media
By the end of High School, Helena received a letter of acceptance from Cambridge and without giving a second thought, she said goodbye to her friends to flew away from her old and messy life in shitty Gotham.
Almost 10 years later, she gets a call from her only friend, Dick Grayson, announcing that his daughter was near completing 1 year old and she should attend to the baby's birthday. And even though she doesn't want to, Helena agrees to it.
Going back to Gotham, she faces all the struggles of her absence and seeing her old love best friend, Dinah Lance, continuing to be as beautiful as the last day she saw her.
Or... That one AU in which they're both childhood friends but Helena never told how she truly feels in fear Dinah wouldn't feel the same and ran away without explanations (but now comes back and realizes she never forgot Dinah, and maybe things could go right for them)

🎶 and ✅️ for the fanfic ask meme? :)
hehehe! into the fray i go again! thank you!!
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
-i dont necessarily listen to music when i write, like maybe i'll have some music going in the background because i need at least a low level of noise at all times or i'll go insane, but i know rn i'm listening to jazz radio on pandora because my brother put it on like 7 hours ago and its still going. i'm a huge fan of the classical composer Holst and his suite The Planets, and i'll listen to that when im writing or need to focus on whatever it is that i'm doing (Jupiter was my school song in high school and is actually one of my favorite classical songs because it's very lovely)(link here bc i have to share it)(this is a link to a playlist of the rest of the suite)
-i mostly just have the tv on if im writing at home, and then i'll usually put something like s1 of Lois and Clark, Green Lantern: the Animated Series, Tanked, some random cooking show, or Mysteries at the Museum. or whatever my youtube recommends. depends on how im feeling each day and how much i'll need to actually focus on my fic.
-i do listen to music when im driving for work, and currently im working my way through The Crane Wives and The Orion Experience's albums (i already finished Waterparks)
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
-Hal and Barry's cat, Goose. she's an orange kitten and Wally is allergic to her.
-kissies. lots of halbarry kissies
-guy gardner is really good with kids and also he has a dog named shark who is a retired k9 unit. also he watches soap operas and romance movies even tho hes totally aroace
-idk if its something that people even notice in my halbarry fics, but hal is jewish. tbh i think i mean to include it more but totally forget
-kryptonians are fucked up. so are speedsters. so are lanterns.
-hal is old-man core. he just is. its amazing and i love him. he also has a bad leg and has to use a cane sometimes bc he got an injury that healed very wrong when he was a young lantern
-also wally and kyle are basically always like...9 and 7 respectively in my fics about the halbarry family because idk. fun ages. theyre still little but they can talk and think. idk when they'll get older
-this is more in my aus that i haven't written but hopefully will eventually, but giving bruce's kids to literally anyone else. i have an au where the only kids bruce keeps are dick and damian and maybe duke. i have another where duke is trained/fostered by alan scott and his husband, and another where duke is trained/fostered by midnighter and eventually apollo. the au where the only kids bruce gets are dick and dami and duke is the same one where all the other batkids are taken in by various gotham rogues. i have aus where tim is trained/taken in by dinah lance and her mom dinah drake, kon is adopted by alan scott, roy is adopted by dinah and his her sidekick instead of olivers, billy is adopted by lex luthor, kon stays with lex luthor and is raised by him along with lexs daughter who is kons half twin, billy is adopted by clark and hal and sorta guy and the rest of the red lanterns that i like, clark is found by the gls when hes a baby and is raised by kilowog, etc etc etc. bestie i have so many aus and i could talk about them for ages (edit: i also have one where jason is adopted by john constantine and etrigan the demon without jason bloods knowledge)
-sorry most of those were about halbarry and their family lol. im writing a lot of that this year
thanks for the ask!!! <3

I don't even know where my wips have gotten lost to atm bc everything has been swallowed up by book stuff/short story collection stuff/general original Stuff™ but I am SOOO here to bully you about yours. Please tell me about luci/cass(/laura) & the famous DC girl band fic that I think about in my dreams always
OK, so as we all know, I've been working on a band AU for @bohemicns for years now. If I haven't shared this with you yet, I've decided on some bands the girls like.
Babs: the Shaggs, Bangles, Bananarama, Salt-n-Pepa, the Supremes
Steph: Aly & AJ, Destiny's Child, En Vogue, Spice Girls
Dinah: Dixie Chicks, Danity Kane, Neon Jungle, the Pointer Sisters
I feel strongly about a surprising number of these. Also how can I say 'I don't listen to contemporary music' without saying 'I don't listen to contemporary music'.
(Babs lives for Florence, Steph likes their lighter, more upbeat stuff, Dinah pretends she's never listened to Florence but we all know she's lying)
This is the first and probably the best paragraph of it, which is Steph meeting Babs, or seeing Babs, or something.
Barbara and Stephanie meet when Barbara's a senior in Gotham High. This is when, as far as the world at large is concerned, Barbara is still only Barbara and never Babs, and when Stephanie is already sometimes Steph, but not to Barbara, because she doesn't know Barbara yet. This is when Barbara is new to the school - a transfer from somewhere, but Steph forgets from where. Barbara has hair like she's on fire, she rolls around the school in her wheelchair and she has a death stare Stephanie would love to perfect herself, only she's not actually sure it's something you can train, because it looks so surreal and baby I was born this way on Barbara. Stephanie likes her, despite or because of the death glare, it's hard to say. It definitely helps that she has this cool vibe that oozes off her even more than it oozes off of other seniors. Like she's very wise, very determined and just slightly untouchable. Steph's sure Barbara's read Gender trouble and probably even something by bell hooks, she can tell just by looking at her.
This is a dialogue excerpt from one of Steph and Babs' library study sessions:
"Le Tigre?"
"Yeah what's wrong with Le Tigre?"
"Well first of all, I cannot believe you'd prefer Le Tigre to, like, TLC or the fucking Bangles, the Bangles were terrific."
"Le Tigre're the hill I'll die on"
There is a point later on in which Steph rambles on about supporting "the invisible sisterhood of female drummers".
And Dinah basically immediately demands they change their name, cause Dinah's like that.
"We're gonna have to something about that name now."
It's definitely Dinah, though, that comes up with the new and improved band name. Babs is reluctant at first, but she never admits to that later on, when it turns out that everyone likes Birds of Prey. Babs likes it too, likes how it doesn't quite roll off the tongue easily, how all the consonants feel harsh and not mellowed down by all the vowel sounds, so she's a music geek and a math geek and a linguistics geek, so what.
ALSO, the luci/cass/laura thing. oh if only i could decipher this triangle thing between them, i might be able to even finish this fic.
I might have shared this part with you before, but I'm still in love with Luci's line here:
They're lying down later, on the ugly yellow carpet, Luci digging through the drawers to find her cigarettes, her white button down still buttoned up, the last remaining article of clothing on her and yet in a pristine state, somehow, and traces of Laura's purple lipstick on her neck, but not on the collar of her shirt, don't you fucking dare, Laura, goddess of lies, not chaos - if you wanna ruin shit, go fuck Sakhmet.
Also, Luci's chaotic, no matter what she says.
"Laura's sleeping" Luci says. She gives Cass a good once-over, slow and indulgent, because sleeping with Laura more than once a week does not preclude her from having eyes, and for some reason it's important that Cass knows this. And anyway, she's worried she might be getting rusty. Seducing someone like Cass, well, a rusty goddess couldn't do that.

So I finished a new chapter of my series but it isn't the next chronological piece. I'm not quite done the next chapter in the fic and I realized that the chapter I was writing should be split into 3 or 4 chapters but I might just be able to skip the chapter completely
So anyway, should I post the chapter I just finished or wait until it chronologically fits?
Edit: I'll do a pole instead

LÉGENDES DU JAZZ
LEROY JENKINS, VIOLONISTE DE FREE JAZZ
‘’Our music was a result of Ornette Coleman and Cecil Taylor. And we prided ourselves on taking it further, because we studied Cage, and Xenakis, and Schoenberg, and all those guys. They were the ones who broke away from the old way in classical music, so we had to study them to see how we could break away."
- Leroy Jenkins
Il expliquait:  "it was something different, something where I could really be violinistic... I discovered that I would be able to play more of my instrument and I wouldn't have to worry about the cliches... I found out that I could really soar, I found out how I could really play."
Jenkins précisait: "We stayed downstairs... It was cold down there, where we slept. Ornette gave us a mattress but he didn't realize how cold it was."
Également publié en décembre 1975, l’album ‘’Ponderous Planets on The People's Republic’’ avait expérimenté avec différentes textures.
"Wynton Marsalis was in, and people started talking about going back to classic jazz. We couldn't play in clubs. As soon as we'd walk in, the jazz guys, the beboppers, would walk out. We'd come in and make a big sound, and they didn't go for it. They'd say, 'Oh, the noisemakers.' They wanted chord changes. Our music was a result of Ornette Coleman and Cecil Taylor. And we prided ourselves on taking it further, because we studied Cage, and Xenakis, and Schoenberg, and all those guys. They were the ones who broke away from the old way in classical music, so we had to study them to see how we could break away."
Le critique du magazine Down Beat, James Hale, avait écrit au sujet de cet album:  "Jarman's devotion to Buddhism dovetails with Melford's interest in music for the harmonium, while Jenkins thrives on developing thematic patterns that span musical cultures from East Asia to Appalachia. Together, the three create music that defies categorization beyond the beauty and humanity that suffuse all of it."
Comme l’avait déclaré un critique du San Francisco Chronicle, "Jenkins is a master who cuts across all categories."

Crushing On Her - High School AU - Laurel Lance x Fem!Reader
“She’s cheer captain and I’m on the bleachers.”
Inspired by that lyric, in this Tommy and Oliver haven’t changed, they’re still playboy asshats like pre-island Oliver etc with some Zarlie and Avalance because I ship it. Also a hint of WestAllen, Dinah Drake x Vincent Sobel, Roy x Thea,
Every week you’d watch your crush, Laurel Lance orchestrate the cheer-leading squad, she was the captain with her best friends Felicity Smoak, amazing at computer science and anything to do with tech and Dinah Drake who aspired to join the police. Laurel’s younger sister was also on the team as you noticed Sara’s ex-girlfriend Nyssa sat on the bleachers watching whilst Sara’s current girlfriend Ava was also sat on the bleachers, almost like they were glaring at each other.
Then there was the resident jocks who played the sports at your school, Oliver Queen, Tommy Merlyn, Barry Allen, a skinny kid but he was fast enough to weave and dodge although he couldn’t catch or throw to save his life... you didn’t like to pay attention to them much but Barry had friends who were friends with Felicity and Felicity was one of Laurel’s best friends so...
Oliver Queen’s sister was also on the cheer squad, she was dating Roy Harper, another resident sports player. It was almost like all the guys played sports and all the girls were cheerleaders. Besides you and your two friends though.
“Gazing at your crush again ey?” A British voice caused you to jump.
“What? I, I can’t help it... she’s so pretty...”
“One of these days she’ll see you staring... she’s dating Merlyn isn’t she?” Zari Tomaz questioned as she sat on the right of you, your other friend, Charlie sitting on your left.
“Then before that she was dating Oliver but Oliver cheated on her with several people including Laurel’s own sister...” You rambled, trying to steal a chip from Zari who slapped your hand away with a playful glare.
“There were even rumours he got a girl pregnant but those faded fast, sounds like mommy dearest handled it.” Charlie replied causing you to shrug as you began to work on some homework.
“Moira Queen?” Zari questioned as she brought up a website on her phone.
“That family is enshrouded in secrets and lies...” You mumbled before looking up to see that practice had ended.
“You guys wanna come over to mine? Do some homework then movie night?” You questioned, getting two grins in response causing you to shiver.
“I swear you two are telepathic or something.” You retorted before the three of you burst into laughter.
---
“I wonder what’s so funny...” Laurel Lance whispered causing Dinah and Felicity to look where she was looking.
“I think that’s Zari Tomaz, Y/n S/n and Charlie... rumours are Zari and Charlie are a thing, Y/n’s third wheeling but they’re all best friends so...” Dinah replied gaining a nod from Felicity in response.
“Caitlin sits next to Y/n in maths then Zari is in my computer science class-”
“Somebody can keep up with the great hacker Felicity Smoak?” Laurel teased causing Felicity to stick her tongue out at her in response, Dinah chuckling before her boyfriend Vince, another resident jock came over.
“Hey Di, you coming to the party Oliver’s throwing at his place?”
“I don’t know, are you girls going?”
Laurel nodded as Tommy walked over, wrapping his arm around her waist whilst Felicity just shrugged, spotting Caitlin and Cisco coming over as Barry ran over to Iris West, a girl who worked on the school paper.
“So we need your help with the thing.” Caitlin began, giving Felicity a look which causing realisation on Felicity’s part.
“Oh right, yeah, the thing, of course, I totally forgot.”
“What’s the thing?” Tommy questioned, tilting his head to the side at the weird behaviour of the three.
“Oh the thing is the thing, like, its a thing...” Felicity babbled before spotting Oliver Queen walk over, Thea and Roy behind him.
“It’s party time don’t you guys think?” Oliver announced, getting cheers from all the boys in response.
///
“Oh that’s not good?” Zari said, waking you from your slumber as you rolled over, rubbing your eyes.
“Z its 5am what the hell?” You grumbled before noticing your phone going crazy.
“Charlie, wake up, you gotta see this!” Zari exclaimed, nudging the sleeping human in the ribs.
“What the bloody hell do you want?” Charlie growled before realising it was Zari with an apologetic look before a phone was thrust in her face.
“Oh.”
“My.”
“Grodd.”
The three of you exclaimed as you saw the posts.
“Laurel broke up with Tommy?” Charlie mumbled in confusion as you continued to scroll through the drama on social media.
“I mean if you saw what Merlyn did...” Zari replied causing you both to look at her as she showed you both her phone screen.
“Shit.”
“He cheated on her? What type of person cheats on Laurel freaking Lance?” You basically shouted causing a bang on the wall from your parents who were still asleep... or were until you woke up them yelling.
“A wanker clearly...” Charlie replied, scrolling through posts by Dinah, Felicity, Laurel, Oliver, Tommy, basically social media had become drama central overnight.
“What do we do?” Zari questioned but you just shrugged, continuing to scroll through everything.
“Its still bloody 5am on a Saturday morning... I’m going to kip a bit longer.” Charlie replied, rolling over and pulling all the covers with them to Zari’s disgust as she tried to yank them back.
“I guess we see what Monday holds...” You replied, sending a quick message over Instagram to Laurel, not expecting a response as you curled up, pulling the blankets over your head whilst your phone laid next to you on silent.
///
After Laurel found out what Tommy had done, it was like every emotion was on overdrive, it was like Oliver all over again as Dinah found her and took her to her home where Felicity was waiting having been dropped off by Caitlin.
Dinah had taken Laurel’s phone, blocking all of Merlyn’s accounts before Laurel took it back, deleting all the photos she’d saved. Her dad was working the night shift and Sara was at Ava’s having a sleepover so Laurel stormed up to her room, not caring about the noise as she ripped down the polaroid photos, throwing all the gifts Tommy had brought her in the bin for Dinah to deal with as Felicity worked on the social media uproar.
Hours later Laurel had crashed in the guest room with Felicity and Dinah either side of her as she cried herself to sleep.
Around 5am she woke up, eyes sore from crying as an Instagram message caught her eye.
5:04am Y/n_S/n: That wanker (Charlie’s words) never deserved you, please don’t blame yourself, he stopped drinking his respect women juice. You are amazing and beautiful and it doesn’t matter what the jocks say because what they say doesn’t matter... you can get through this, I know you can.
“What are you looking at?” Dinah gently pried, eyes only half open as Laurel passed her the phone.
“Y/n S/n said that? That’s actually really sweet...”
“What’s really sweet? Mint chocolate chip ice cream?” Felicity questioned as she rolled over, looking at the screen with interest.
“Y/n S/n... huh the photos they have up are kinda cool.” Felicity replied as she began to hack your Instagram before something strange happened.
“Huh... looks like Zari put security software on Y/n and Charlie’s accounts...”
“Isn’t that kinda stalkerish?” Laurel questioned causing Felicity to shrug.
“Also illegal...” Dinah mumbled under her breath before Laurel took her phone back, smiling at your message.
“Plus its 5am... go back to sleep ladies...” Dinah replied, rolling over and pulling all of the covers with her as Felicity and Laurel squealed.
5:13am BlackCanaryLaurel: How can you be so sure I can get through this Y/n?
9:43am Y/n_S/n: Because you’re Laurel freaking Lance, head cheerleader, captain of the debate team, future District Attorney... you’ve got this far without Merlyn or Queen, you still can get further, trust me.
///
“Ugh... better get up before those two hog the bathroom...” You mumbled to yourself, grabbing some clothes, your towel and your phone you climbed over Charlie and Zari who were asleep in the blanket fort on the floor.
You paused as you locked the bathroom door behind you, reading the message Laurel sent back at 5am before replying.
You sighed as you watched the message send, abandoning your phone to take a shower and get ready for the day before Zari and Charlie woke up.
///
Laurel paused as she looked at her phone again, gaining a worried look from Dinah and a confused one from Felicity at her smile.
“What are we doing today anyway? I don’t want to loom in this house full of memories...” Laurel asked before Felicity turned the screen around, showing a picture Zari had posted.
“Arcade?”
“This really does feel like stalking.” Dinah interjected but she gave in as Laurel and Felicity got up to get ready to go to the arcade, the same one you and your friends were at.
///
“Why the heck are they here?” Charlie exclaimed, spotting Dinah, Felicity and Laurel enter the arcade.
“Hide, now!” You stuttered, grabbing onto Zari who gave you a ‘wtf’ look.
“Where are we supposed to hide in here?” Zari retorted before Charlie dragged the two of you into the laser quest arena.
“Cisco, Caitlin and Barry are meeting us here remember?”
“Iris not coming?”
“She’s spending the day with Wally I think.”
“Watch them turn this into a 3 vs 3 vs 3 match...” Zari joked causing you to glare playfully in response.
“Hey guys.” Caitlin announced as she arrived, Cisco and Barry following.
“Let’s get this party started!” Cisco announced causing the others to laugh.
“Hey guys so its going to be teams of 3, with Team...Flash against Team... Legends... we’re also adding another team into the mix, Team... CanaryOverwatchHawk?” A clerk came over to explain, you automatically turned to glare at Zari.
“You jinxed it you mongoose!”
You glared at Team Flash laughed causing you to respond by shooting all three of them with your laser gun at their suits making them beep.
“Hey we’ve not even started yet!” Barry exclaimed before the six of you heard more laughter.
Zari smiled at Felicity who ran straight over, hugging Caitlin, high-fiving Cisco then standing next to all of you as Dinah and Laurel walked over.
“So, why is Zari a mongoose?” Laurel questioned causing you to flush red.
“She made a joke thinking it would be a joke but irony came and kicked us in the butt instead.” You replied, surprised the sentence came out of your mouth coherently before Charlie elbowed your side, gesturing to the doors.
“Let’s go Legends!” Charlie grinned, leading you and Zari through the doors to go to your base whilst Team Flash and CanaryOverwatchHawk went to theirs.
“What’s the plan?” Zari asked, almost knowingly.
“Wreak havoc.” You and Charlie replied with smirks.

GO!
The three of you split up automatically, sneaking around with your backs to the walls of the maze as you heard shots being fired and yelling.
“Run, Barry, Run!” Cisco shouted before you stealthily shot him.
“Dammit, you have failed this city!” Cisco growled, about to make a move and run for it when you shot him too.
“You guys are out already?” Caitlin questioned as she walked over, clearly confused.
You weren’t sure where the rest of your team were, or Laurel’s team as you began to move again, following Caitlin until she became off guard so you shot her too.
“Damn Y/n, you took down all of Team Flash?” Charlie questioned as she approached.
“Where the hell have you been? Wait...oh my god you were making out with Zari in a dark corner...”
“Before we got taken out by Drake, yeah.” Charlie replied with a lovestruck smile causing you to roll your eyes before realising.
“I cannot take down all three of them...” You retorted before Charlie interrupted you
“Drake got out by Barry, he's fast but you got him out then Caitlin found Felicity easily... Laurel and you are the last ladies standing.”
You were still for a moment as you realised what that meant. You needed to move.
“Good luck Y/n... you’ll need it...”
You glared as you began to move, listening out for Laurel’s footsteps or any noise that would indicate where she was.
“So you’re the last Legend standing?” A voice cut through the silence.
“Hey Canary.” You replied, diving behind another wall to protect yourself.
“Actually, it’s Black Canary.”
“That’s kinda cool actually...”
“Thank Y/n but you’re going down...
“Laurel Lance, always trying to save the world...” You replied before you ran having a plan in mind as you darted between walls and cover.
“That’s cute Y/n, keep running.” “You can shoot me in a minute. I don’t have any stamina so this will be over soon and you can win.”
“You surrender?” Laurel asked, almost confused as she found you sat on the floor with an awkward smile.
You raised your hands in surrender causing Laurel to frown in confusion.
“Why?”
“Some people need boosting up a bit, I figured the rush of laser tag plus actually winning by being last one standing would help... I didn’t expect Charlie and Zari to apparently make out in a dark corner until Dinah caught them though...”
Laurel smiled at this approaching you before sitting down next to you.
“We could always pull a Hunger Games and not kill each other...” Laurel replied as she rested her head on your shoulder, shocking you a lot.
“They’re all watching from the cameras...” You replied, shifting your legs before looking at your watch.
“You hungry?” You questioned after a few moments of silence.
“A bit... why?” Laurel asked in response, blushing at the rumble of her stomach causing you to smile.
“How about the 9 of us go get food? I know Zari and Charlie will since they’re always hungry!” You shouted causing Laurel to give you a confused look.
“Okay rude!” Charlie shouted as they walked in with Zari behind them. You grinned in response.
“Let’s just go get food.” Zari replied, grabbing you to get changed out of your laser quest armour. Laurel smiled as Charlie nodded to her, following Team Legends out of the arena before everyone went to go get food and have fun.

Monday 6am
You sighed as you rolled over in bed, glaring at the clock before getting up and ready for the day.
You smiled as you heard a grumpy knocking at the door, opening it to a half asleep Zari and Charlie who walked into get breakfast from your kitchen.
“Good morning to you too.” You chuckled, joining the couple at the table as they feasted.
“Yu biff talching twu worel ten?”
“I’m sorry what?” You replied, looking utterly confused.
“I think she meant you’ve been talking to Laurel then?” Charlie translated causing Zari to nod, her face full of food.
“We talked a little, her dad wants to arrest and or kill Merlyn whilst Sara wants to kick his ass. He tried coming over to talk but Quentin answered...”
“Damn that doesn’t sound good for the wanker...” Charlie replied causing you to nod.
“Her dad is a cop.” Zari replied, eating more food as you just nodded, sipping your drink.
“Wish I could have seen that.” Charlie replied causing you to shrug as you looked at your Instagram.
“We better move before we’re late to class.” You announced causing Charlie to groan and Zari to frown as she remembered her timetable.
“What’s that face for?”
“I have computer science with Cisco and Felicity so Y/n has maths with Caitlin... Charlie you’ve got playboy Queen in your class.”
“Dammit i have history today...” Charlie grumbled causing you to frown.
“How is he even in your history class?”
“I don’t have a clue...” Charlie replied.
“Just ignore him and get the class over with...” Zari suggested causing you to nod.
///
“Ugh...” Charlie complained, resting their head on the table.
“History was that bad huh babe?” Zari questioned, taking a bite of her apple as you raised an eyebrow, pausing in your eating.
“He just doesn’t care at all, I’m surprised he hasn’t dropped out yet.” Charlie replied, snagging a chip from your plate causing you to sigh, pushing the plate over to them.
“Now here comes the drama.” Zari whispered, the three of you looking up to see Laurel, Dinah and Felicity walk in, Tommy, Oliver and all the resident jocks watching them as if they expected them to go sit with them.
Then the unexpected happened as Laurel turned on her heel 90 degrees, walking straight over to sit on your right with Dinah on her left followed by Felicity.
“Uh...hello?” You whispered, removing the headphone you had in one ear before looking at Laurel’s nervous smile.
You, Zari and Charlie were all still for a moment as Caitlin and Cisco walked over to sit with you all as well, Barry even leaving the other table to join with Iris next to him.
“How big is our table?” Zari whispered to you causing you to shrug.
“I think it’s imaginary...” You whispered in response before healthy chatter erupted from the table, everyone talking with everyone as they continued to eat, unaware of the looks from the two playboys.
The table grew over the lunch hour, Sara and Ava came to sit along with Nyssa who felt awkward until you nudged over to her some of the untouched food which she took in intrigue. You smiled in response before noticing Zari taking photos causing you to smile more as you began to talk to Laurel.
What happened next nobody expected as cold ran down your neck and back, barely withholding a scream as you jumped up, turning around to glare at the perpetrator.
“What the hell?” You growled, everyone had fallen silent as you glared.
“You need to chill out.”
“I know I’m hot but was that really necessary? You’re not my type.” You retorted, brushing your hair from your face as the person smirked.
“I’m everyone’s type.”
“Trust us, you’re not hers or ours.” Zari retorted, standing up alongside Charlie.
“Now get lost you wanker, wet clothes dry but bones take longer to heal.” Charlie threatened.
“Touch me and I’ll sue you.”
“Even with the amounts of money you could throw at a lawyer, Oliver, you don’t really have a case, with what? 12 witnesses being able to testify against you in the fact you tossed a milkshake over Y/n to be petty?” Laurel retorted, standing up to defend you whilst linking her fingers in yours to hold your trembling hand. Trembling with rage as you glared.
“Laurel...” Tommy began but you moved to stand in front, blocking Tommy from seeing her.
“Pretty sure you’ve got no business to be even in her presence after the crap you did on Friday.” You growled causing Tommy to frown.
“How do you even know about that? Your little group have never been seen at one of our parties.”
“We wouldn’t be caught dead at one of them.” Charlie retorted, crossing her arms.
“What, because you’re a bunch of- CRACK!”  You turned around in shock as Zari punched Tommy in the face.
“Shit...” You mumbled as Oliver was about to retort when a whistle caused you all to freeze.
“Merlyn, Queen, Tomaz, Charlie, S/n, detention, today after class, don’t think of skipping Queen, Merlyn, otherwise I’ll be talking to the coach about you both being benched. No matter how much money your families donate to the school.” Mr Diggle ordered.
“Now all of you, get to class!”  Mr Diggle shouted causing everyone to scramble.
“Miss S/n, I’ll give you a note for your next period teacher, go clean yourself off.”
“Thanks headmistress Michaels...” You replied, taking the note before hurrying to the toilets.
///
You sighed as you stared at the clock, Zari and Charlie were busy glaring at the two playboys whilst the headmistress, Lyla Michaels observed the detention.
Tommy’s nose was swollen and most likely broken as he sat with another ice pack glued to it causing you to roll your eyes.
“You can go now. But if I see either of you throwing a milkshake over my niece or threatening her friends again... I don’t care if you come from rich families, you’ll face consequences...”
Oliver and Tommy left quickly whilst you sighed, face-palming.
“Thanks auntie, but did we have to reveal I’m your niece to those asshats?”
“First language, second, they’ll know not to mess with you or any of your friends now. I won’t tolerate that type of behaviour or language in Mr Merlyn’s case in this school or outside it.” Your aunt Lyla replied before the four of you left.
///
You gasped as a hand took your wrist, pulling you away from them.
“Hey...its me, its Laurel...” Laurel whispered, calming you down instantly with a hug.
“I knew that would happen at lunch... I’m sorry Laurel...”
“The only ones who need to apologise are Oliver and Tommy to the three of you, especially Zari, is her hand okay?”
“Zari knows how to punch. She could have done worse like break his entire face but my uncle broke it up luckily... uhh... headmistress Lyla is my mum’s sister so Mr Diggle is my uncle by marriage.” You explained, holding onto Laurel still as she smiled.
“What did Charlie mean when Oliver isn’t your type?” Laurel questioned causing you to flush red, trying to speak but all that came out was stutterings.
“You know, you’re rather cute...” Laurel admitted causing you to pause.
“Where are you going with this? I don’t want to be a rebound from Merlyn...”
“Then we can be friends for now then see how we are later?” Laurel suggested causing you to nod as you hugged her.
“Hey Y/n, movie night at yours? Oooh whoops, sorry to ruin a moment...” Charlie announced causing you to laugh.
“We’re friends for now Charlie, then it will be re-looked at later... as long as its not Groundhog Day, yeah, movie night? You and your friends want to come?” You questioned causing Laurel to smile.
“You have room for everyone?”
“She has a cinema room with a popcorn machine...”
“I’ts technically not mine but I use it more than anyone in my family besides my cousins Sara and John Diggle junior.” You replied.
“Any movies are available just not horror or Groundhog Day.” Charlie explained.
“Why not Groundhog Day?” Laurel questioned causing you and Charlie to shiver.
“Zari had a nightmare she got stuck in a time loop, the aftermath of her waking up was not pretty.” Charlie explained.
“Come on people, I want my popcorn!” Zari announced as she ran over, Dinah and Felicity behind her with the rest of Team Flash, Iris, Nyssa, Sara and Ava.
“Let’s get our movie night on!”
