OC idea: Benjamin “Benji” Blazedale, son of Garfield Lynns (Firefly) and Dr. Jane Blazedale. After Garfield became Phosphorus and was remanded to Arkham, Benji ran away from the foster care system at age 15. He snuck into his dad’s old hideout and stole the Firefly equipment for himself. He planned to use it to commit thefts and robberies to survive until he could maybe afford college or a trade school, but he found himself unable to follow through the first time he actually tried a robbery. Since then, he’s operated somewhere in the same moral ballpark as the Red Hood, though he doesn’t have the stomach to kill any criminals.

Benji learned pyrotechnics from his dad and technical engineering from his mom. He’s always loved tinkering with pieces of small machinery, taking them apart and putting them back together to see what makes them tick. After a lot of experimenting, in fact, he even manages to redesign the Firefly jetpack to be more compact and efficient. Even after Lynns got arrested, Blazedale continued supporting Gotham’s supervillains behind the scenes with tech, since she still needed to put food on the table for two people.

Benji also has some friends among Gotham’s supervillain scene, like Victor Fries (through Dr. Blazedale’s work) and Selina Kyle (through living in East End), among others.

Once Benji decided to start acting as a vigilante, some of his relationships among Gotham’s underworld became a lot more strained. And an initial misunderstanding from Batwoman and Red Robin doesn’t help much on the other side of the fence.

Benji keeps the name Firefly as a vigilante. Outside of changes made for the sake of practicality, Benji also updates the suit’s design to more closely resemble the Firefly suit from The Batman (2004).

Benji does establish a good working relationship with Huntress and Catwoman, and his friendship with Victor Fries stays intact so long as Firefly stays out of Fries’s business. Benji also manages to befriend the Spoiler, mainly over the common C-tier supervillain dads situation.

To be honest. He deserves more then just some side mention, so here it goes.

Benjamin Foreman

A young psychology student in Gotham, ex boyfriend of the Red Hood and completely traumatised by the Joker.

The thing with Red Hood/Jason was a one-night-stand gotten serious, even after said one-night-stand ended up with Ben quickly finding out that Jason is the Red Hood. Still he decided to be with him, even with all the danger that would've come with it.

A horrible mistake on his side, as it would later turn out.

One night Red Hood dragged a bleeding Red Robin to Ben's apartment, which used to double as an office for his ma when she lived there. Ben stitched Red Robin up as best as he could, with help from his dad who got called in for some extra help with it.

Couple of months later Benjamin gets kidnapped by the Joker, to end up helping a badly injured Jason somewhere far away from any civilisation, in an abandoned country fair.

Author’s note : Hello again! So, I decided to change this story around a little. First off, I changed what Carter looked like, Mabel’s name is now Madison, and I also deleted the original 3rd and 4th chapters. I didn’t like where it was going so hopefully this will gel better. Fists pounding on the front door was not how I wanted to start my morning.

I had been up half the night with Madison, cleaning up vomit and trying to break her fever. By the time she finally crashed, it was almost sunrise and I was scheduled to be at the studio by 9:00. I ignored the knocking at first, hoping they would just go away, figuring they had the wrong house. Wishful thinking on my part because the knocking only seemed to get louder and more inpatient. I hastily pulled my robe over my sleep shirt, stomping down the stairs. I looked out the kitchen window, watching as a man and woman, both dressed in business casual attire stood on my porch. Badges hung on their shirt collars, DCS in dark, bold letters catching my eye.

I took a step back. Why would DCS be at my door this early in the morning? Why would CPS be at my door at all? This wasn’t my first time dealing with DCS, but this was my first time as a mother having them at my door. Protective services were at my mom’s house all the time growing up. Claims of abuse, neglect, the list goes on and fucking on. Some of the claims were bogus – made up by people that my mom and her boyfriend of the week pissed off. Then there were times when I prayed that they would show up. The abuse at the hands of her lovers would get to be too much and some marks are just too hard to hide.

Taking a deep breath, a hesitantly cracked open the door, “Can I help you?”

The man stood a little taller, his face remaining stoic. “Yes - are you Carter Teller?” I nodded my head, the door still cracked. “I’m Benjamin Fagen and this is Heather Letcher, we are with the department of children’s services. We received an anonymous call regarding the child that lives at this residence, Madison Teller. The caller stated that the child is being neglected and left in dangerous situations.”

My heart sank. “Neglect?” I muttered. “Someone is accusing me of neglecting my fucking child.” My anger rising. “Who the fuck was the anonymous person?”

“We are not at the liberty to say, ma’am.” The woman spoke.

This was ridiculous. I may not be a perfect mother but I make damn sure to always be there and protect my child. “Mrs. Teller, the caller stated that your daughter has been left alone while you are at your place of employment, Cara Care Productions. They also stated that members of a local motorcycle gang are around your daughter while in the possession of guns and drugs.”

“First of all-“ I pulled open the door, stepping closer to the two. “I would never leave my fucking daughter alone, not even for a fucking second. Secondly, the “local motorcycle gang” are members of her family. They would never put her life in danger.”

The man sighed, “Mrs. Teller, we just have to fo-“

“No-“ I interrupted. “I understand that this is your job but I don’t appreciate you coming to my house, at the crack of fucking dawn. Banging on my door like you’re a fucking ATF agent while my daughter is upstairs sick in bed. You can tell whoever you report to and also tell the person that filed the complaint that they can shove it up their asses and fuck the hell off.” I slammed the door in their faces, my back hitting the wooden structure once it was closed.

I don’t know if it’s because I barely slept or the fact that someone had the balls to say my child was being neglected, but I started to cry. The frustration from the encounter had come to a boiling point and my only outlet was to cry. My job was not the typical occupation that other parents held but it allowed me to keep a roof over Madison’s head and make sure she had food to eat every day. She was very well taken care of and loved to the moon and back. The anonymous person wasn’t concerned for her well-being. This person – the anonymous coward wanted to hurt me…

“This is bullshit, Carter!”

I ran my hand through my tangled hair – my head pounding as I watched the scene unfold in front of me. As if the day couldn’t get worse, Luann had called an hour after the DCS situation, yelling and screaming that the feds were raiding the warehouse. I didn’t bother changing out of my pajama shirt, just pulling on a pair of shorts as I packed Madison up. I dropped her off at Gemma’s since Anita was there and raced the warehouse, finding the place surrounded by unmarked police cars and FBI vans. Some of the newer girls huddled outside the building, watching with wide eyes as the men and women made their way in and out, computers, files, and paperwork in their hands. Jax’s bike was parked next to Luann’s convertible, still warm from his ride in.

He had no clue of what happened earlier this morning. I debated on telling him, afraid that he would erupt. Madison was his daughter too and he needed to know that someone was trying to spew a false narrative of how we cared for Maddie. “Oh, thank god!” Luann announced, rushing towards me. She pulled me tightly into her shaking body, tears seeping through my shirt.

I looked at Jax as I held onto Luann. He simply shook his head, leaning against the wall. Luann was in deep shit and Jax knew that it was his job to see if it could be eradicated. She was a first nine’s old lady – Jax owed it to Otto to keep Luanne protected and out of trouble.

“I’m sorry to pull you away from the baby.” She sniffed. “I didn’t know who else to call –“

“It’s okay.” I reassured.

She pulled away and started walking towards some of the other talent, comforting them as they watch their careers possibly go down the drain. “She’s freaking out.” I stepped closer to Jax. “What’s the plan?”

He stayed silent, shrugging his shoulders as his eyes did the talking. “You promised Otto that you would make sure nothing bad happens, Jax. Feds raiding this place-“I paused. “They’re gonna shut her down and that’ll be the end of her business. She has nothing else.” “You think I don’t know that?” His blue eyes stared into mine. “I’ll do what I can.”

I looked off to the side, shaking my head in anger at his little outburst. “And I don’t want you getting involved either.” His voice stern. “That’s the last fucking thing I need right now.”

“She’s like a mother to me, Jax-“ I spoke. “If she needs my help, then I’m gonna help her no matter what. You’re not the boss of me, babe. If I want to help Luann then that’s my fucking business- not yours, the clubs, nobody’s…”

I adjusted my sleeping daughter on my hip as we exited the store. I had to run a few errands before going home, not wanting to leave Madison with Gemma for the night. I didn’t bother to tell Jax that she was sick – not like he would have done anything. I also didn’t tell him about the DCS visit. He was already pissed about the CaraCara raid, telling him about the visit would only set him off further. I quickly buckled Maddie into her car seat, careful not to wake her up as I did so.

“Cute kid.”

I jumped in surprise, quickly turning around to find the source of the voice. “Who knew a porn star and an outlaw biker could make such a cute, innocent kid.” Georgie stood in front of me, his tall henchman standing close behind. “She’s gonna be some looker when she’s older.”

My hand immediately reached into my bag, feeling the cool metal of the gun as I wrapped my fingers around the handle. We were in a busy parking lot but that wouldn’t stop me from pulling it out and blasting holes into the fuckers. “You need to get the fuck away from me and my daughter before I fucking kill you.”

Georgie smiled, a soft chuckle leaving his lips. “You’re cute, you know that.” My heart leaped in my chest as he stepped closer. “I wouldn’t have to approach you like this if you would just join my crew and leave that old whore you’re working for. I can give you so much more – more money – more pleasure.” His voice lowering. “I’ve seen your work, Carter. I know how well your pretty little mouth works. I would love to just sink myself into that pussy of yours – see why Teller and all the men fawn over you so much.”

My stomach rolled with nerves and nausea as he spoke. Those around us looked on as I kept my hand in my bag, ready to pull the gun out any minute. “I want to help you, Carter. I want to make you the star you deserve to be.”

“I’d rather be one of Ernest Darby’s street whores than ever work for your company.”

A sickening smile stayed on his pudgy pace, “Never say never sweetheart.”

Pairing: Klarion Bleak x Fem!Reader, Lilith Bleak (OC) x Fem!Reader

CW: romance, past breakups, use of she/her, language, shitty attempt at angst, author attempted to not use y/n and i think i succeeded but who knows, klarion & lilith are being lil bitches who doesn't know how to romance, playing with feelings, wizarding relations are really weird, toxic relationships probably, pining, i think that's it but if there's more tell me!

Summary: Reader is an exchange student. She's a witch, but not the kind that hogwarts is used to. She uses pentagrams and incantations instead of wands and spells. She uses poisons and candles rather than potions and charms. She practices moonlit summonings instead of defense against the dark arts. So what happens when not one, but two lords of chaos appear in the middle of the great hall, both claiming to be her lover? (this is part two of a multi-part series, so look out for a pt 3!)

The two stopped arguing and grinned. With a pop they appeared in front of her, smiling like kids in a candy shop. One had a lovesick expression, the other had a flirtatious smirk.

"Hello, love."

She rolled her eyes.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, frowing.

"We're here to settle a little...disagreement of sorts between us." The female, Lilith, stretched her mouth into a cheshire cat smile.

"Oh really? And what is this disagreement?"

"Your heart, my love," the male, Klarion, replied.

She facepalmed. Noodle hissed at them both. The cat, Teekl, and the Raven, Deirdre, hissed right back. That was when the teachers *cough*umbitch*cough* decided to butt in.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Umbridge shrieked.

"This? Well, 'this' is used to identify a specific person or thing close at hand or being indicated or experienced. It can also be used to refer to a specific thing or situation just mentioned," Lilith said, cackling.

Klarion just rolled his eyes.

"Nobody likes a smart assault, Lily."

She sighed.

"It's smart-ass, Witch Boy."

"Whatever you say, my love." Lilith glared at her twin.

"Who said she's yours?"

"ENOUGH!" Umbridge screeched. "Who are you and why have you tresspassed onto these grounds?!"

The duo glared at Umbridge.

"You don't know us? How rude," Klarion said.

"Yeah, you'd think a magic user would know us," Lilith added. "Even if it's baby magic."

She pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Professor, this is Klarion the Witch Boy and Lilith the Witch Girl."

"Lords of Chaos, at your disservice!" The two said in unison. Umbridge's nostrils flared.

"I demand you get off this property at once!"

"Uh uh uh! We still need to settle our agreement!" Klarion exclaimed.

"Yeah!" Lilith turned her attention towards her. "So? Which of us do you love? Klari or me?"

"It's obviously me," Klarion said, scoffing at his twin's attempts.

"Puh-LEASE, you have zero game."

"Excuse you?!" He glared at his sister.

"Klarion, Lilith-" She pursed her lips at the chaotic twins. Umbridge decided she had had enough.

"So you're the cause of this!" Umbridge exclaimed triumphantly.

"Wha-You think I can control two people who are literally the embodiments of chaos?" She turned her attention to Lilith and Klarion. "Look, the two of you better get out of here."

"Wha-" Klarion cut his twin off.

"Do you want her to get into more trouble, Lily?" The female huffed and the two (along with their familiars) disappeared in a burst of red dust.

And the whole school was staring at the red-faced witch.

But I just want what's best for You in the end I know you don't want to let go

"So who are they?"

The whole school seemed to want to know the answer to that question.

Klarion and Lilith Bleak were twins. A chaotic duo, spreading destruction and mischief wherever they went. At times, they seemed like complete opposites. Lilith was the more mature one out of the two, sarcastic and flirtatous. Klarion was childish and disruptive, constantly bothering everybody he met. But when the two decided to cause trouble together, they showed the world exactly why they were twins.

Klarion "worked" for the Light, an organization that constantly plagued the JLA and the covert team. Since she dabbled in almost every corner of witchcraft, she met with the junior league on a normal basis to fix their magical maladies. Lilith, however, preferred to stay untethered to anything, wreaking havoc on either side depending on who she felt like helping.

"They're lords of chaos. Both have been around since the beginning of time and both are eternally confusing. But I can't exactly get rid of them, since they're immortal and a lot more powerful than I am," she finished.

"Was that cat and that raven their familiars?" Hermione asked.

"Yeah."

Harry grinned at her.

"So two of the most chaotic, powerful magic beings in the universe have a crush on you."

She groaned.

"Shut up, Potter."

A group of girls passed them, and shot her terrified looks.

"The whole school thinks you summon demons on a normal basis," Ron said.

"I mean, I've done it before but I'd never summon those two. I see enough of them as it is." The trio laughed, and they pushed open the door to potions.

And just like before I can see that you're sure You can change him but I know you won't

"Hey! Demon-girl!"

She groaned at the nickname and turned around in her seat.

"The hell do you want?" She grumbled.

"What was that in the Great Hall? Did you summon them?" He asked. She just scoffed in response.

"Trust me, I would never summon those two."

A malevolent purple mist appeared next to her. It cleared to reveal the same girl from the Hall.

"Never? I think never's a bit too long, sweetheart."

Lilith Bleak had infiltrated Hogwarts. Again.

She sighed.

"What do you want, demon?" Lilith frowned.

"Demon? You and I know full well I'm way more powerful than just a pitiful demon," she scoffed.

She sighed.

"Whatever, but Lilith, you need to leave." The lord of chaos pouted at this.

"Leave? But I just got here!"

"Do you want me to get into trouble?" Lilith huffed.

"Fine, I'll leave. But I'm leaving Deirdre with you."

Her eyes widened.

"Lilith...what if you get attacked and she's not with you?"

She regretted saying that as soon as a smirk appeared on the other woman's face.

"Aww, looks like somebody does care!"

She rolled her eyes, then shooed her away.

"Go perish."

"Anything for you, sweetheart!"

And she vanished in a puff of purple smoke.

She faced forward, only for Professor Snape to glare at her.

"Detention."

"What? But it's not even my fault! They just appear and I can't do anything about it!"

He frowned, but turned back to the board.

"If they disrupt the class again I will have to give you detention and take away house points. No matter whose fault it is."

She groaned. Deirdre cawed out a laugh.

"Oh shut up you stupid bird."

The devil doesn't bargain He'll only break your heart again It isn't worth it, darling He's never gonna change

The same blond boy sat next to her during Transfiguration.

"You never answered my question"

She raised an eyebrow.

"Why do you want to know?" He shrugged.

"I'm just curious."

"They're lords of chaos. Uncontrollable, destructive chaos. Over a trillion years old and freakishly annoying."

He scoffed.

"I've never heard of such a thing."

"That's 'cause you people practice baby magic."

"Baby magic?" He asked incredulously. She nodded.

"Real witches don't need wands or spells. Incantations work better and summoning demons or fae are superior to wandwork."

"So you do summon demons," he sneered.

"They're not all evil, if that's what you think." He just sent her a dark look and moved to another seat. Harry took his place.

"Malfoy bothering you?" She shook her head.

"Nah. Just being a nosy prick."

Deirdre cawed loudly, and she rolled her eyes.

"Go away, you lousy bird." The raven looked at her with utter contempt, and vanished with a poof of lavender smoke.

"Wha-Deirdre!" Lilith glared at her familiar. "You were supposed to look after her!"

The raven just cawed in response.

What am I, your servant?

"No, but you should be looking out for her anyway."

Creepy laughter echoed throughout the room.

"Ugh! Go away, Klair!"

The male witch laughed.

"She liked you, y'know." Lilith whirled around.

"What?!"

"Yeah. A couple years ago. When you hated the Justice Babies because they killed Amaranth." Lilith smiled.

"Ha! I told you she-"

"Liked, Lily. Past tense. Her feelings are gone now." Klarion grinned while his twin looked enraged. "She won't love you again."

The one thing I remember about you as a writer is in Till Then your oc Benjamin. Who the reader never meets. But I feel like I know him so well from Damian's dialogue about him. I'd never had that happen to me before.

Oh that's fantastic actually, thank you, I'm very pleased to hear that! It really makes me want to take Till-Then out of mothballs and get to the end.

It got shelved because I was writing it at a time when DC kept tearing down and rebuilding their multiverse system every year or so, and I reconceptualized how I was handling the timelines to comply with the new multiverse mechanics twice before I gave up.

At this point I feel like the story might have been left far enough behind by canon (and possibly fanon also) to be charmingly retro instead of just out of sync and behind the trend lmao. Also DC kind of gave up the pretense of having coherent rules so I can do what I want eh?

Here's an excerpt from one of my WIPs, "Fly High, Little Firefly":

Gotham was a city where you either made do with wherever you landed or were swallowed whole. In a city where man-eating plants and mass shootings were part of an average Tuesday, life went on anyway, and so did Gotham’s residents. Take Benjamin “Benji” Blazedale, for example. A young man of fifteen, Benji was altogether rather average by Gothamite standards. He attended public school eight hours a day for ten months out of the year and spent the rest of his time finding ways to escape boredom or make money. He carried pepper spray and a gas mask on his person while out and about, and he kept his nose out of other people’s business, especially the shady kind. And like most Gothamites, Benji maintained a healthy mix of respect for and fear of Batman and his group and prayed he didn’t find himself in their crosshairs. Benji himself would balk at being described so plainly, of course, but so would most of Gotham’s most ordinary. He still found himself as part of the masses at the end of the day. And at the end of this day in particular, Benji found himself in a hurry to get home. The reason was less than important, though it would be paramount to his apology to Ms. Aya. She worried when Benji or Blake were out too late, which meant she worried a lot. Sure, other stuff tended to get in the way, Benji didn’t exactly like making Ms. Aya worry—she was already making a lot of sacrifices so Benji could live with her and Blake. So Benji navigated Park Row at a brisk pace, avoiding the multitude of mugging hotspots in the part of Gotham he called home. As focused as he was on his destination, Benji couldn’t help but shout in surprise when a blob of darkness dropped out of the sky in front of him. He scrambled to get his pepper spray out of his pocket. “Don’t,” the blob of darkness commanded, rising to a full stand. Benji froze, eyes locked on the insignia in front of him. Red Robin’s insignia. At least it isn’t Batman, Benji’s brain supplied unhelpfully. Red Robin was a good few inches shorter than Benji, but the vigilante still seemed to loom over him. “Uh…” Benji responded, having cast about for something to say and landed on nothing at all. Red Robin was silent long enough for Benji to start to feel awkward. Then: “Benjamin Blazedale, son of Jane Blazedale and Garfield Lynns, correct?” That stare was unnerving. “My mom’s name is Jane, yeah,” Benji answered, “Dunno about anyone named Garfield, though. Who’s he?” Benji tried to ignore the sweat trickling down his back. Red Robin looked… surprised? No, that wasn’t it. Annoyed, maybe. “Garfield Lynns, currently known as Phosphorus,” Red Robin explained, “Previously known as the first Firefly. He broke out of Arkham last week? Used to have a safehouse above the deli down the street? Had a known romantic relationship with Jane Blazedale? Ring any bells?” Oh, it was frustration, not annoyance. And Benji was starting to feel similarly. “Look, I don’t know anything about what you’re obviously getting at. Mom never talked about whoever my father was, and I never cared. What makes you think I have to be Phosphorus’s kid, anyway?” Red Robin pinched the bridge of his nose with one gauntleted hand. “You look like him more than you do your mother. Lynns was involved with Blazedale around sixteen years ago, which lines up with your age. And records show Blazedale left Gotham whenever Lynns broke out of Arkham.” He sighed. “I don’t even know why I’m wasting time still talking to you. Lynns clearly hasn’t tried to contact you. Whatever, this was a long shot anyway.” Red Robin turned away, raising his grapple gun. “Run home, Benjamin, it’s getting late. Don’t keep Ms. Anai waiting.” And with that invasively creepy parting remark, Red Robin fire his grapple and ascended into the night. Benji just stood there for a solid few minutes, trying to wrap his head around the conversation he’d just had.

SR Show Your Flags: Day 7

This is the penultimate one of these at least for a while as I'm going away next week. I'm obsessed with how tomorrow's is looking though 🙂 (Huge hint: it's canon).

I'm sure precisely no-one recalls that a very long time ago I mentioned I have an OC with the same surname as Lego's boss, well I finally drew her! Jenny is the owner of Castillo hotels which is a biiiiiiiiig deal in my hc universe. As far as I can remember, she's the first major non-Boss OC I wrote for my fic.

Fun fact about them: Firstly I just want to talk about why I gave Ben the questioning flag because there's a lot of ways to interpret that. I won't really have a defined hc for Ben until I look more at pre-pre-pre-SR1 but... I like the idea that he may have been too bound by societal pressures to really look at his sexuality when he was younger, but begins to think about it more as he gets older and is y'know... completely fucking surrounded by LGBTQIA+ people. I think this reflects something that quite a lot of people in their 60s/70s would relate to in all honesty.

So this maybe wouldn't really be classed as a romantic relationship as such because Jenny is aro, but it's an important relationship for them both nonetheless.

These two meet often at various networking events for years and are acquaintances for a long time, but there is definitely some sort of spark between them.They do have a casual relationship in 2017-18; her job takes her all over the place so they tend to just hook up whenever she's in DC.

This suits Ben well because, as I've mentioned before, he finds that his insistence on keeping his relationships a secret often leaves serious partners displeased. It also suits Jenny well because she worries that more serious partners will expect their romantic feelings to be reciprocated due to bad experiences in the past.

They end on good terms when she retires and decides to spend a lot more of her time travelling internationally.
