I completely forgot I had this saved in my drafts for like YEARS.

This is for @pen-in-hand / @biscottibitch who loved the idea of Yuriko and Dabi together. An AU where Yuriko never met Hawks, but met Dabi/Touya and she never went into singing.

Yuriko sighed as she pushed the door open with her back. She was already feeling the pain from being on her feet all day at the hospital. One twelve hour shift later and then she had to go get groceries. All she wanted to do was sleep.

Kicking the door shut and her shoes off, she flipped on the lights only to let out a scream when she saw the person in her living room.

“Touya!” she berated as she glared at the man on her couch.

“Hey, sweetheart,” Touya said, giving a smirk as the woman walked into the small kitchen. He groaned as he sat up. “How’ve you been?”

“Better, but I can say the same about you,” Yuriko said, rolling her eyes as she placed the grocery bags on the counter. She quickly walked over to the patchwork skinned man, kneeling in front of him. “What happened this time?”

“Just a couple thugs thought they could beat me,” Touya said, grinning a little more, making the staples on his face glint in the dim apartment light. “No need to worry.”

“Yeah, right,” the woman said, tucking a piece of purple hair behind her ear. She reached out, moving his hand from his side and moving his jacket aside. “Looks like they could beat you. What did they do, kick you?”

Touya hissed as Yuriko pressed her hand onto his side, gently moving her hands along his ribs. “Good guess…”

“Jesus, Touya, come on.” She sighed, lifting his shirt up.

“How about you buy me dinner first, Princess?” He chuckled when he saw the unamused look on the woman’s face.

“I will throw you off the balcony,” she threatened, standing up. “You’re lucky your ribs aren’t broken.” She made to move back to the kitchen, but was stopped when Touya’s hand reached out, grabbing hers.

“Sorry,” he softly said, looking up at her. He rubbed his thumb over her hand, enjoying the feeling of her soft skin under his calloused fingertip. “Can you get me some ice for this?”

“Are you going to melt it like last time to get me to be your own personal nurse?” she asked, raising a brow at him. 

“What? You didn’t like taking care of me?” 

“I don’t mind taking care of you, but it’s annoying when you do things to purposely get me to continue taking care of you.” She squeezed his hand before going to the kitchen to get the ice. 

It was quiet for a moment, just the sound of the air conditioner humming and the shifting of ice cubes in the freezer. Yuriko glanced over her shoulder as she placed a couple cubes in a wash cloth and felt her face heat up when she caught Touya looking at her. 

“What?” 

“Nothing, just like watching my little nurse work,” Touya teased, grinning more when Yuriko gave him a scowl. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” He laughed as Yuriko came over and chucked the wash cloth on his lap. “Thank you Yuriko.”

“You’re lucky I love you,” she huffed, taking a seat next to him and grabbing the wash cloth. “Or else you would never been getting this treatment.” She gently placed the cloth on his side, eyes shifting as she watched his face, measuring his pain. 

“I feel so special,” he chuckled. He looked over at her and quickly leaned down, stealing a kiss from her. “Thanks, Princess.” 

Yuriko’s face heated up and groaned when she heard him laugh. “I hate when you do that.” 

“I know.”

WIP Tag Game

I thought I’d try my hand at starting a WIP tag game for once. I promised @nightwingshero I’d use this edit she made for this scene haha! It was created based on a conversation we had about this WIP and some how was turned into this edit.

This is a scene from my My Hero Academia fic Birds of a Feather. Hope you like it!

“Get out!” Yuriko screamed, backing away from him. 

Hawks’ face fell as he watched her back away, fear clear as day all over her face. “Baby, please, I promise I’m not going to hurt you.” He held his hands up, showing her he wasn’t armed or anything to try and calm her. Taking a step forward he halted when he watched his girlfriend take a step back. “Yuriko, just let me ex-“ His eyes widened and he ducked as a pillow went soaring through the air. “Really?” he asked, mouth hanging open as he watched Yuriko grab another pillow from the couch and throw it as well. He caught that one throwing it to the side. “Yuriko, just stop.”

“No! I want you out of my apartment now!” Tears started forming in her eyes as she threw another pillow. “I can’t believe you! How could you?”

“Just let me explain!” The blond shouted back. 

“Explain what? How you’ve been having secret phone calls with a villain?”

Hawks waved his hands up and down, shushing her as he approached her. “Keep your voice down for crying out loud.”

“Make me!” The purple and pink haired woman glared at him. Her face scrunched up in fury as she grabbed another pillow, chucking it at the hero with no luck as he continued to get closer. “My boss doesn’t like the idea of us working with a hero,” she said, her voice an exact copy of Dabi’s low raspy one. Her voice quickly changed to Hawks’ cheerful voice. “I can’t imagine the League of Villains exactly being keen on working with a hero. One of the top pro heroes to boot.”

Hawks’ eyes widened. “You did hear that…”

“Of course I did. You’ve been acting weird for weeks now. What was I supposed to do? Just assume you were okay? I wanted to know what was going on, but you always brushed it off. You wouldn’t tell me.” She grabbed the last pillow on the couch, throwing it at the blond hero with an angry groan. “I feel so stupid! Do you know how much it hurt to hear you say what you just told me on the phone? My best friend - my boyfriend - is a villain! I told you I loved you and then I learn this?” Her voice went back to his voice, cracking a little as she spoke. “I’ve heard a bit of your cause and honestly I can agree. Things need to change.” Her voice switched back to hers, cracking even more. “I love you, Keigo, and this is what you do?”

“Yuriko, baby, stop. You’re going to lose your voice. Just let me explain, please,” he said, finally reaching the angered woman. He grabbed her hands, rubbing his thumbs over them. His heart fell when Yuriko pulled away, still glaring at him. “I promise it’s not what you think.”

“Just let me explain, Yuriko,” she copied, voice cracking again. A scoff came from her. “Explain what, Keig-“

Her mouth opened and closed, but nothing came out. Her hands balled into fists and she stomped her feet in anger. A couple punches were thrown at the hero’s chest and she glared at him, mouth hanging open in a silent scream.

I was tagged by @nightwingshero to share one of my WIPs. This one is from my My Hero Academia fic I’m working on.

“Hey, Songbird! Miss me already?” Hawks practically chirped into the phone. “I mean if you wanted me to spend the night all you had to do was as-“ “Hey, Featherhead.” The smile on Hawks’ face fell when he heard the rough voice on the line. His blood ran cold knowing exactly who that voice belonged to. Someone he didn’t want involved in his personal life. “Dabi... Where’s Yuriko?” He snapped, teeth grinding together in fury. “Safe, for now. I just needed her for some insurance,” Dabi said slowly, only adding to the fire that was growing inside the hero. “What do you want?” “I just want to make sure the intel you’re going to be giving me is going to be accurate. I can’t exactly show up to my next meeting empty handed.” “You’ll have the intel when you get the intel and it will all be accurate. My sources have never let me down before.” “How do I know you’re not just saying that?” “I’ve told you before,” Hawks practically shouted into the phone. His anger was increasing by the second as he spoke to the bastard on the other side of the phone. He took a breath, trying to calm himself. It worked, if only for a moment. His voice wasn’t as loud as it was a minute ago. “Everything I do is for the league. Is that enough for you?” There was a moment of silence and Hawks’ grip on his phone increased as he waited. What the hell was that flame bastard waiting for? It was still silent and Hawks’ wings were working overtime trying to get to Yuriko’s apartment, but what he heard on the phone halted his movement. “...That’s more than enough, Keigo,” came the quiet and broken voice of Yuriko. The phone nearly fell out of Hawks’ hand when the line went dead. She knows? Yuriko knows. How does she know? “No...no nononono,” Hawks said as he shot through the sky, trying to go faster than before. “Fuck!” he yelled, beating himself up as he raced to the young woman’s place. He couldn’t believe this was happening. He never wanted her to find out, especially not like this! She didn’t know the truth. He didn’t even want her involved in this whole situation.

1. What is your OC’s most embarrassing moment?

For Yuriko, probably this one time when she and a few other members of the ensemble had to walk across the stage for a scene. It was one of her first shows and she was excited to be picked to be one of the few background characters for a scene. She face planted as soon as she got on the stage.

Marnie's most embarrassing moment was when she got food spilled all over her in the cafeteria at school. She was sitting with Wally and a friend when someone had tripped another person walking by. It wasn't aimed at her, but she and one other person got caught in the cross fire. She had to change into her gym clothes for the rest of the day.

2. What is the moment your OC felt the coolest?

Yuriko's coolest moment was when she finally got a lead role. Granted it was a minor role, but she had lines and her own songs to sing. Hearing the crowd cheer for her when she went out for curtain call, she felt on cloud nine.

Marnie, definitely her first successful mission where she didn't lose control of her powers. Something had gone wrong and she thought on her feet, casting a spell and saving Aqualad and Artemis from an incoming attack. She didn't know if it would work, but wanted to save her friends/teammates. She wouldn't stop talking about it to Wally or Zatanna for the rest of the day. She felt so proud that she had control and that she saved her teammates after the number of times they saved her when she first started out.

4. What kind of Dungeons and Dragons player character would your OC create to play as?

Yuriko would be a bard or a fighter. She loves music and would have so much fun with it, but isn't sure if magic is her thing which is where a fighter comes into play. She'd be able to figure out what combat style or weapon she'd like.

Marnie 100% a wizard. She's intelligent herself and throw in her magic powers she'd enjoy playing someone similar to her. And someone who has better control of their spells than her.

22. If your OC has scars, where are they and how did they get them?

Okay, I see you Jo. You purposely sent this in.

Yuriko gets a scar on her neck from Dabi. I won't say why because it's a spoiler for a FAR in the future chapter.

Marnie doesn't have any scars. Except mentally and emotionally from getting her powers thrown on her from the crystal and having no control over them.

2 What scene did you first put down

I put down this one scene that came to my mind that’s supposed to happen further into the story.

Some backstory for the scene:

In the manga, Hawks is acting as a double agent to see what this group of villains is planning. In my story, Yuriko’s quirk is that she can replicate anyone’s voice after hearing it and she overheard Hawks talking with one of the villains, Dabi about the villain group’s business not knowing that Hawks is a double agent. So she assumes Hawks is turning into a villain and decides to give him a call to confirm her suspicions.

I’m a little nervous to share this little drabble because I’ve become so self conscious of my writing lately and honestly I have no idea why but here you go! (I also wrote this quickly so obviously this won’t be the final product so sorry for the crappy dialogue.)

10 Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?

I’m a sucker for goofy, flirty idiots with tragic backstories who are superheroes apparently. We don’t know much about Hawks’ character but based on some small flashbacks and headcanons I’m having fun plotting. I also create too many OCs. I like romance and I like expanding on worlds in shows and show sides we don’t normally see with it. Which is why I’m making Yuriko a civilian and not a hero. I want to show her point of view as she watches Hawks do his hero stuff and show her daily life.

11 What do you like best about this fic?

I like that this fic has gotten me back into wanting to write. Granted I’m still struggling to actually sit down and write, but I have ideas and I haven’t had that inspiration since my Winter Series. Because I’m not that far with even chapter one I can’t say for sure what my favorite thing about it is other than this.

13 What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

Sadly, I don’t have any playlist for Birds of a Feather. It’s so early with writing it that I’m trying to get myself to actually focus on it. I need to find some music for it though. One song that I felt fit was Holding Out for a Hero by Ella Mae Brown.

I can tell you that my Winter Series has a playlist! My friend @loopally also made a playlist for my Voltron story! She made this gorgeous playlist filled with music I’ve never heard before and it’s so soothing!
