You know how in all those Star Trek episodes and similar shows there’s usually some plot point dedicated to “alien crew member has a weird biological quirk that’s dangerous and/or horny” for whatever reason?
I want to see more of that but with weird human quirks turned up to 11. The best culprit for that kind of episode would be one where a humans “Cute Crush” instinct get thrown out of wack and now the alien crew have to fix their human before they murder the ambassador that looks like an extra fluffy quokka.

Angst prompt:
Imagine your stoic/villainous/grumpy f/o treating you with more kindness and gentleness because they miss your true personality. Whatever the reason may be, you have not be acting like yourself for a good couple of months. Maybe it’s mental health related, you may be severely physically injured, in a coma or specific state of fully being present. It could even be a bizarre unrealistic event (ie. possession, brainwashed, no memories, swapped bodies etc.) that caused you to become an emotionless, lifeless, shell of a person.
Your f/o realizes how much they need you even if your f/o wasn’t fond of you at first. Maybe your f/o struggled with close relationships and eventually, they had found themselves becoming close with you. Does your f/o regret developing a close bond and become angry because of the situation? Does your f/o desperately attempt to help you, fearing that they might never get you back? Do they give up?
Bonus: The reason you are in such a miserable state is because your f/o had hurt you. Was it on purpose or an accident? Did your f/o become scared of getting “too close” to you and feared getting hurt? Whatever the reason, there are many ways such a tragic event could play out.

overused cliches let’s go
- love triangle (bane of my existence)
- he’s a monster and she “fixes him”
- bad end queer stories (chill when done right and tastefully, but it’s a trope steeped in homophobia)
- “uh, he’s right behind me isn’t he” Disney movie line
- any fun high school experience. High school is a mess of hormones and misery
This was in response to my original post asking for overused tropes/clichés - I know I said I'd make a post on it, but I: a) completely forgot and b) was worried about unintentionally upsetting people by casting a negative light on tropes/clichés. As a whole they are very interesting to analyse/read about in narratives as they add structure/substance to a story.
Incidentally I have since written a long list of spy tropes that I can post if people are interested. (I watched a James Bond film and it inspired a long list). I've also been plugging away at a 'common whump tropes in film that annoy the average whump enjoyer' list.
That being said, here's mine:
- "You just don't get it, do you?" - Character unknowingly speaking to the enemy (open coms/hacking/stolen coms) - Speaking into a communicator on their wrist/shoulder/ear. - Walking away from a crash that should've killed them with a cut on their eyebrow. - "Is that all you've got?" / "I'm giving her all she's got!" - One last job before retirement - A computer virus that will affect everything in the world. - Nuclear launch codes being in a briefcase and requiring two keys. - "Turn on the TV" - "We've got company." - Underlying serious moments with jokes. (I am looking DIRECTLY at Marvel) - Villains need to be redeemed/have reasoning behind their actions (an increasing trend, particularly with Disney remakes. Sometimes villains are just villains. ) - "It's not what it looks like." - "You look like shit." - "Tell them I love them." - "You have to choose between one person, or the world." - or choosing between having superpowers or their loved ones. - Coughing indicating a terminal disease. - "Everyone I get close to, dies." - Manual overrides. - Hyper-intelligent = cold and unfeeling or extremely egotistical - Dead parents/family/loved ones making the hero jaded and untrusting.

Never have I ever written horror(?)
(Its spooky season, in looking for some new matserials haha)
-🌉
🎃 Never Have I Ever ... written a horror story, haha! 👻🍫🍭🍬💀(haven't read much horror fiction, unless you count Grimm's fairy tales and Edward Gorey.) (Does it count??😄) ty for ask!!
Oof, that's a hard one! Guess I would make an I Am Legend au with Sherlock as the sole survivor (or thinks he is) and runs into people (John & mayyybe Rosie) running from Zombies. His dog Redbeard getting sacrificed in the process. All set in London. For the joy of writing Piccadilly Circus into a fic.
Like to do the mannequin scene especially.
Not entirely sure I'd survive the writing. 😂☠️

Miller's Girl swirled w/Status of Chapter 8
Tumblr media
So You Know What officially releases tomorrow in its...limited release, and I just gotta say... it's a movie about a seriously horny 17 (in the script she's 17) year old brilliant 'I'm not like other girls' girl who reads classic erotica and wants to fuck her pruney old white guy English teacher. I won't spoil the end... It's just like The Crush, with less superficial pouty lip and more classic literature, unless they changed/softened it for the final film (I didn't pay attention to what draft I was reading).
That's also my story, here. I started writing this shit before I knew of Miller's Girl. The tropes MG and Satisfying Afterburn share are numerous and almost complete, right down to the mini-flashback of Wednesday attempting to seduce her Honors English professor, Professor Fortunato. It's a common (or WAS a common, I should say) trope, the Precocious Girl. And as much as current climate sexuality activists would like to deny it, precocious girls exist, and I was one of them.
I did mention in my bio that some of what I write about is autobiographical, and that I was an extremely precocious child back in the 80s and 90s. Like Afterburn Wednesday, I was left to my devices in my father's library. Henry Miller (the author Cairo likes) was one of the authors that I was reading in not-so-secret when I was around 10, since my own father had a collection of erotica (novels and art). I suppose the perversion is generational. 🫠💦✨ He was not my favorite author at 10 (at 10 it was Dalton Trumbo...I fell in love with Johnny Got His Gun, and Night of the Aurochs was pretty good too...sucks when someone dies before finishing their work), but at 11 I became a Nabokov fan and at 12, Orwell and Highsmith (Patricia Highsmith was a fkn cunt/racist/anti-Semite, but I loved Tom Ripley); I wasn't as moved by Miller's Tropics (however, I was and am an Anaïs Nin fan, and her whole Henry and June/Henry & June thing was just 🔥). Some time before 12 I read the erotic books that I mentioned in the beginning of my story (My Secret Life and Fanny Hill; I bought them at a book fair, and yes, they let me buy them). I digress, but it's relevant to my fiction.
The erotica Cairo reads and writes is designed to do what it does in the movie, just as all erotica is meant to do. Afterburn is erotica too (and all y'all writing E [for sex] are erotica writers).
I don't want
another
fucking
Greyface anon
coming at me
about
Satisfying Afterburn
after this...
y'all can go fuck yourselves.
Also, Afterburn has all of the Miller's Girl tropes, except that 'Miller's Girl' (who is ✨cleverly✨ Professor Miller's Girl and Henry Miller's girl hyuk hyuk get it) doesn't get her man. Afterburn Wednesday does, and that's why y'all Greyfaces hate on me. She gets her man, just as I got my man at that age.
And speaking of 8 and rain (I hate this app, I fkd up this post and put it in my queue instead of saving the draft I was working on)...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wrote most of this starting late last March 2023 through late April before I started to move sections into chapters. This part here was written at the end of April, but I transferred it into a different document on May 2.
Romantic/sexy rain trope is in 8. Couldn't help it, since Burton chose to make it rain whenever he wanted to...why the fuck can't I. Anyway, a very short fkn snippet from 8.2:
Tumblr media
It tells you nothing except that's raining hard. And yeah, it's Wenovan speaking.
Anyhow...off to create...and probably watch this fkn movie tonight (I have my ways).
ugh

On a certain Kyle trope:
Y’all know what I find intriguing as hell? Just how many people write Kyle Broflovski with an ED.
When I first got in to the South Park fandom a few months ago, I had absolutely no idea it was so common to give our boi a yeeting disorder or at least a questionable relationship with food, and yet,
The first fic I ever wrote, I wrote him with an ED.
I was new to the fandom, new to writing fanfiction in general, and wasn’t familiar with popular headcanons, but I still subconsciously knew that of all the kids, Kyle fit the bill for problems with food.
And why is that? Is it because he’s ocd coded? Is it because of his canonical health issues? Is it because of his people pleasing nature? Is it the savior complex? A little of all of that, I think.
For me personally, I’ve written Kyle with an eating disorder fairly often, even if I don’t say it explicitly, aspects of it are still present. As a (few years recovered, thank god) former anorexic myself, I project onto our favorite redhead (also Tweek but that’s a whole other can of worms) because in my (admittedly pretty sadistic fanfic writer) mind, it just makes sense, and I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts on why it’s such a common trope.
I could probably write a massive, rambling, incoherent essay about the common thread of fic writers consistently torturing (mentally and physically) Kyle, but I’ll reign it in and say this: I will fucking eat it up every time
Am I unhinged? Absolutely. Do I adore Kyle at all times? Uh, fuck yeah and he’s my favorite to write.
If you frequent SP fanspaces, I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts on this subject matter, because I’m not exactly the best at organizing my own, but hopefully it ain’t too discombobulated.

Heisy and a Feisty significant others
This is a common trope among the RE Fanfic community.Yes, I’m just as guilty because I like writing my Readers/OC being aggressive in response to Heisy being a jerk at the start.
One would think that Heisenberg might not be receptive to such. In fact he might be aggressive given how not only Miranda treats him but Alcina as well.
Ethan in RE: Village was far from meek but not as dominant to where Heisenberg wouldn’t back down when he was rejected this.
I frankly think he’d like it in someone he intends for a sexual partner or significant other. Because like him they won’t back down. And they won’t put up with Mother Miranda’s shit. I could see him still holding some dominance over them too.
Thoughts?

Isekai’d FL: I will only be in the ML’s life for a short time. We’ll hate each minute of it but 🤷🏻 He won’t miss me, I literally do not matter in the story so I’ll do what I want😂

I think really slow villain redemptions are great (if handled well), but i'm also in love with "character you originally thought was a kind and sweet person, actually has a past where they were angry/hateful/cruel, but has grown past it and became a better person".

We need to fricking stop with this CinemaSins TVTropes style crap in fandom. Actually, we need to stop that attitude in all creative fields, but I'm talking about fic right now.
I have seen many posts ragging on over-used phrases in fanfic, and yes, I find 'cerulean orbs' deeply strange, but if I ever said anything hateful on the topic I wish I hadn't.
You know why we say 'smirk' a lot in fic? cause its faster than 'gave a tiny smile to one side with their lips closed, a little cocky and provocative' Smirk is an easy way of saying it. It's the correct word. We say it in fic a lot because people smirk a lot in real life. Go people watch, its all over. Also. Bring me a true synonym for smirk, and I'll use that instead, but these ain't it.
If you have a better way of saying 'took off his shoes without untying them, just levered the heel with the toe of the other' that isn't saying 'he toed off his shoes' I'd love to hear it. Cause that phrase is perfect for it.
'Huffed a laugh'? Yeah, they did. Cause I'm not going to spend extra words describing how they 'exhaled through their nose once, amused, but not enough to fully laugh aloud' Its a specific action. You think people don't do that all day? five bucks says its exactly what you do when you see a meme most of the time. You didn't lol. You huffed a laugh.
The idea that something that's been used before is inherently less valuable is ridiculous. Same with the inverse.
If the phrase you want to use is common or widely used, but is the best way to communicate it? Use it. Don't fall for this trap that is currently consuming hollywood. You don't have to have a clever twist just because 'they survived and were happy' is a trope. You don't have to use some insane alternate phrase just because someone thinks fandom uses 'smirk' too much.
And, as always, if someone gives you hell and you don't want to fight them? let me know, cause I volunteer.

I want to point out that Aziraphale tries to stay. His first response to the Metatron's offer is, "I don't want to go back to Heaven."
Tumblr media
I feel like people think he's going into this somewhat enthusiastically, but that's just not true. You can see the weight of his actions on his face, especially on the elevator at the end. He's not as ignorant or naive as people think. He's just in too deep.
He tries to say he doesn't want to go. That he's made a mistake (right before they leave, he says, "I think I--"), but he cuts himself off. I think this is because of two reasons.
Tumblr media
Aziraphale is too scared to say no to an angel who outranks him (both because of who he's talking to, and his overall behavior when talking with other angels). Speaking to the Metatron is literally tantamount to speaking to God. Aziraphale is fully aware of this. He doesn't want to say no. Both out of fear, and because now, he has to save the world again.
He has it in his head that he has to fix Heaven. Not for the world, the other angels, or even for himself, but for Crowley. Even though Crowley said no and rejected him, Aziraphale doesn't know the real reason. He probably thinks that if things change, Crowley will be willing to join him again. But it isn't Heaven or Crowley that really stops Crowley from joining him. It's what already happened. Coming back to Heaven wouldn't erase God's mistake. It would only cover it up. This is what Aziraphale needs to learn. As well as the story of Crowley's fall and what it truly did to him.
But I don't think he really wanted to go. I think he knows exactly what this means, and I think the implications will be very interesting to see when season 3 comes out.

wait one more thing about Ember Island Players that's so funny is like... imagine creating a show and then becoming either frustrated/annoyed/bemused that a sizable part of your fandom ships two characters that you don't want them to. And instead of ignoring it or letting it lie, they decide to use this episode as a moment to show these fans how silly that ship is. And sure, maybe its all supposed to be in good fun but like if the goal, in-part, was to discourage people shipping them, I cannot emphasize enough how acknowledging the pairing in-universe, having people consistently mistake them for a couple, and having said characters constantly over-react to the very notion and get belligerently defensive because they are very much not dating why would you say that is extremely antithetical to that goal.
