Kurvitz stresses that Kim doesn't actually have a character sheet hidden in Disco Elysium's code. Imagining that Lieutenant Kitsuragi has only one natural attribute point in Motorics helps the ZA/UM team to understand the depth of his character beyond what's referenced in the game's dialogue. "We just came up with this stuff for coherency," says Kurvitz. "And because we're nerds."

"I like to think Kim has a Thought Cabinet project called Revolutionary Aerostatic Brigades that he's worked on since he was a teenager," Kurvitz says. "This raises the learning caps for his Reaction Speed and Interfacing."

Kim's high Volition skill makes him impervious to prying, Kurvitz says, as the detective can find out on occasions being met with Kim's brick-wall resolve. Kim often chastises these whims of the detective's, but will occasionally play along. The Lieutenant finds his new partner funny, says Kurvitz.

Ah, university -- full of new independence, full of new responsibility, full of new opportunities to flourish or fuck up spectacularly. In university, we meet new people, learn new ideas, try new things. There's parties and romance and spontaneous chaos of all kinds (like international road trips to attend book tours).

Submit your favorite University AUs here! The form asks for some basic fic information, and you're encouraged to include a quick blurb about why you liked it. Any and all fics that include at least one member of One Direction as a central character can be submitted -- that's any rating, any ship (or lack thereof), any length, any publication date, any author, anything. Submit your own work, your friend's work, your favorite fic from a decade ago or something you stumbled across last week.

Submissions are open until Monday, January 15th, when all submitted fics will be posted and a new category will be announced.

More mentally ill characters in sci-fi, in fantasy, in romance and fun and high stakes situations and everything in between, as the heroes, as complex individuals, multifaceted and treated with respect, not having their needs and differences ignored or skirted around but, again, not having them be their only trait or plot point/entire premise! Please, I'm begging, on my hands and knees, there's a place for these topics and characters in realistic, reflective and literary fiction, yeah, but there's also a place in those magical, mystical, action packed, mysterious and alien worlds, give them to ME
