New Category: Fake Dating!

You the community suggested this. You the community voted for this (and I could not make these numbers up if I tried -- it received 28 votes out of 69 total cast). It's time for your favourite Fake Dating stories!

Are they strangers trying to make an ex jealous? Are they trying to get nosy family members off their back? Are they getting platonically married for tax benefits? Are they undercover as a Totally Normal Married Couple? Are they dating for publicity?

Give me the blurring of boundaries as the characters question what's fake and what's real. Give me awkwardness and uncertainty -- or intimacy being way too easy to "fake". And lets not forget PRACTICE KISSING.

This trope literally never gets old, and I will never in a million years get tired of it. I have a feeling a couple of ICONIC fics are going to be on this list, but I'm also looking forward to seeing the little-known ones come out of the woodwork and shine.

The Last of Us episode 9 aired the same day as the Oscars, and also featured Laura Bailey and Ashley Johnson. This is a subtle reference to the fact that Laura Bailey can't be trusted to stay at award shows because she'll leave in the middle to hang out with her friends instead

Also I've been thinking, since they've already been introduced and allies to the Limbus crew alongside Saude's possible future return I wonder if Caiman and Pilot will play some kind of role in Don Quixote's Canto taking in count the themes around her character (Caiman resenting the Sinners for being the one who has to clean up the messes they leave behind, Pilot seeing the Sinners as heroes and believing earnestly everything he's doing under Limbus is for the greater good)

Well, look at that. Just heard that The Boy and the Heron won the Best Animated Feature award.

Disney must be really kicking themselves in the ass right now.

Though, I was rooting for Nimona to win the award. Just to see how that would be like.

New Category: Girl Direction

Not to be a lesbian on main, but -- girls. Chef's kiss, 13/10, no notes. So what if -- hear me out -- what if our favourite boys... were girls???

Since this rec list will be posting on February 1, aka the first day of Femslash February, I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some of the wonderful genderbending that goes on in this fandom! Submit your fave Girl Direction fics using this form. Any and all ships (or no ships!) are welcome to be submitted.

I am defining Girl Direction as having at least one member of One Direction identifying as a girl -- it can be all five (or as many as are in the story), it can be just one, it can be anywhere in the vastness between. Trans girls/women and non-binary characters that at least sometimes identify with femininity are included; trans boys/men and non-binary characters that identify solely with masculinity or other/no genders are not (though I have trans/enby characters as a potential future category -- fill out the theme suggestion form if you want to boost that theme up the ranks!). Cis men who explore femininity are also not included in this category.
