Kurvitz stresses that Kim doesn't actually have a character sheet hidden in Disco Elysium's code. Imagining that Lieutenant Kitsuragi has only one natural attribute point in Motorics helps the ZA/UM team to understand the depth of his character beyond what's referenced in the game's dialogue. "We just came up with this stuff for coherency," says Kurvitz. "And because we're nerds."
"I like to think Kim has a Thought Cabinet project called Revolutionary Aerostatic Brigades that he's worked on since he was a teenager," Kurvitz says. "This raises the learning caps for his Reaction Speed and Interfacing."
Kim's high Volition skill makes him impervious to prying, Kurvitz says, as the detective can find out on occasions being met with Kim's brick-wall resolve. Kim often chastises these whims of the detective's, but will occasionally play along. The Lieutenant finds his new partner funny, says Kurvitz.

I don't know if I should be annoyed at my friend, or at her dumbass Rockerboy character???
My friend who plays the Exec responded to my IG Story demanding I let her Exec meet my character's bro. I'm like "No. Sue me"
Exec was literally trying to threaten me by saying he found out who my sponsor is
And he'll rat me out to the party
But I Uno reversed him cos like...
Ok, so you found out Tanaka-san is my unofficial adoptive father
Tanaka-san, the high ranking executive who's one of the heads of Arasaka's R&D department
Tanaka-san, the guy who ordered my bro to tie our Rockerboy to a chair in front of a mirror and make him watch as his limbs are pulled off
You know that's my backer and you try to threaten me? You should know that you're lower on Arasaka's food chain than me
Like how dare you even speak to me
I had the upper hand until he brought up our Rockerboy's streetdrug use ಠ_ಠ
And I'm so frigging pissed cos the "tail between your legs" line got thrown back at me ಠ_ಠ
I'm so annoyed at my friend cos the reason why her Rockerboy is addicted to synthcoke again is because
she didn't read the rule book ಠ_ಠ
For context, our DM feels that streetdrug use is very common in Night City. So she made a homebrew "drugs menu" to rebalance the effects of drugs to give us more of an incentive to use
Eg. Cigarettes give you a +1 Cool stat when using them. So if you are trying to seduce someone, it gives you an advantage
But after using, if you fail the DV check you will become addicted and have to regularly smoke or you'll get a -1 Ref cos you can't focus without smoking
She adjusted therapy to have a DV check based on how addictive the drug is... but the original Player Rulebook rule that if you do the same drug again within 1 year of getting clean, you will AUTOMATICALLY fail the DV check
My friend's Rockerboy has the highest Will stat and a Resist Torture/Drug skill, so she's the most reckless with streetdrug use during combat/RP cos she thinks her Rockerboy will always pass the DV check
But she uses drugs so often to boost his stats that he eventually becomes addicted to something cos of a bad roll ಠ_ಠ
The worst part is, she prefers the drugs with high stat boosts, but those are also the drugs with the worst side effects ಠ_ಠ
Eg. -2 Reflex and -1 Empathy for synthcoke. And the drug doesn't even last 24 hours, so now he's constantly using to prevent the draw backs ಠ_ಠ
And for every 4 hours he goes without satisfying his cravings, he will be penalised with stackable additional point loss ಠ_ಠ
A few sessions ago we were paid eddies and "high quality" streetdrugs for a job. Our Rockerboy promised my character he won't do synthcoke again, so he's going to sell it
Yeah ಠ_ಠ. One session later my friend was like "I puff a drug, give me the stat boost" during a fight ಠ_ಠ
I immediately gave her the stink eye. She didn't say which drug she used, but I was 90% sure it was the synthcoke
I think our DM texted her that her Rockerboy was automatically going to lose the DV check, cos she had a "Oh crap, I messed up" face after checking her phone ಠ_ಠ
I'm so flipping mad at my friend and her gonk of a Rockerboy ಠ_ಠ
I'm getting pressured by our Exec now cos my Netrunner has been helping the Rockerboy hide his synthcoke use
Her Rockerboy can't even get "clean" now cos she keeps failing the therapy DV check cos of bad luck. And it's not like we always have time to go for therapy???
You need a full free week to go. A week that could be used doing other things. Our DM said she'll give our Rockerboy a +2 bonus if my Netrunner is with him for emotional support...
But everytime I accompany him, it eats my entire week too T_T
It's his second time getting addicted to synthcoke, so he needs 2 therapy sessions and we just can't pass the second one
Therapy is so expensive. He can't afford to keep going, so he ends up just spending the eddies on cigarettes and synthcoke to satisfy his cravings and I'm losing my crap cos everyone is starting to realise something is wrong with him again
When is something ever not wrong with him ಠ_ಠ
The Exec is right. I suspect he was so reckless when encountering my bro cos he was having a psychosis episode due to Empathy loss ಠ_ಠ
For every stack you get, you must do 1 extra puff/shot of the drug to remove the stack. I swear, he's lying to me. He has more than 1 stack and he doesn't have enough drugs to remove them ಠ_ಠ
I'm so mad! Like irl and in game! He's so irresponsible! But I can't leave him cos I don't want him to hurt himself again. He's my best choom, I should be there for him

i will explain the thing: the Lucrecia (ffvii/doc #Lucrecia Crescent) tag is the gift that keeps on giving, and it got better as I dove further in and clickity click idek how I missed this I just dskadkjakfajfkldakajld. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Wait, that wasn’t an explanation. That was epic feels-flail.
Let’s try that one more time:
Three months ago I had a brief convo elsewhere in fandom about how I finally wanted to return to ffvii fandom and write a Lucrecia fanfic novel but the only way to do it was to make her as real as possible via a writing style that is on the literary/realism side of things while also fleshing out the character as a composite of a number of women I know or have known or have merely vague-known so long as they are/were from academia, specifically from STEM, and obviously that can include myself & my personal experiences either during my career or while growing up [at redacted oh-so-heavily redacted where I was surrounded by SCIENCE]. Actually, that redacted part is important because my mother’s generation experienced the epic out-of-control in-your-face version of sexism in STEM rather than the passive-aggressive daily bullshit sexism that is the current bread and butter of STEM/Academia. Or, you know, the difference between Lucrecia’s generation and Shalua’s? I guess I can say I’ve seen both, although I would be part of Shalua’s generation in this vagueblog vague-analogy.
Anyhow, Lucrecia + Tumblr = holyshit is this the only public place on the net where people are actually talking about all the struggles Lucrecia goes through in ffvii/compilation canon as a representation of real world struggles women go through? (and not only in stem/academia but in general).
[and the “no jealousy here” BFFs Yuffie+Lucrecia friendship fic/art was the cherry on top -- finally found the source for it]

Anyhow. It all makes me happy.
A bunch of it parallels ideas already in the WIP’s outline and/or drafted scenes.
Huh. Now I need to find that scene I started writing a month+ ago (and flailed about it over here) regarding a heartwarming convo that Vincent & Yuffie have about Lucrecia (and Lucrecia/Science) and the entire conversation is fucking beautiful (but I was working long hours and really tired and didn’t get to finish the scene because zzzzz) and now I have ideas for extending that scene or writing a different, additional MUCH NEEDED SCENE with another convo that is not just fucking beautiful but heartwarming to the point of T_T because, hello, this. ffffldksfladfjalkfjalkfjal ...too hard to explain the this without just posting the scene that i haven’t yet written, but the idea is THIS: it’s a convo about how Lucrecia’s marriage with Hojo went south, but with zero blame or bullshit regarding Lucrecia’s decisions. Instead, things were fine/good/happy with her and Hojo before marriage and during the early part of the marriage, and then things went bad and then turn worse (*cough* canonically). Then add in the additional layer of the mutual respect, friendship, and empathy between Yuffie & Vincent and Yuffie’s empathy for Lucrecia and for Vincent/Lucrecia.
20 years ago younger!me deeply disliked the Tifa-Aerith wars. Current me additionally avoids at all costs the Yuffie-Lucrecia-Shelke wars.
(one might even say that Even the Littlest Monsters is my response to those wars............. one might, might they?)
And while I realize that the scene I am about to add to Even the Littlest Monsters might feel ever so slightly like “is the author intruding? should this have been a one-off short story instead?” ... ya know what? it is going in there.
I think i know the chapter in which it needs to go.
Actually ... the scene does serve some needed foreshadowing/explanation purposes, and character exploration/explanation, because good god this is a complex timeline with all the weaving back and forth and ... tbh, sometimes it is necessary to just spell something out as clear as day when writing fiction, especially fanfic, especially multi-ship fanfic. bc lack of spelling things out clear as day (early on) run the risk of the kind of jealousy-driven presumption assumption comments that make me want to shoot something into the sun.
...
Would it be bad form for me to reserve the right to delete or report any misogynistic comment on a fanfic? You know, those “THAT BITCH DESERVES/ED xxxxxxxx” comments. Because I’m feeling more and more like I need to insert scenes into Monsters that make clear that the characters would be offended and disgusted by such comments.
And a lot of that “feeling the need” is due to how Monsters has a lot of full on realism where people are people doing complex and/or emotional things for reasons that are complex and/or emotional.
Hm.
Now I have at least 5 more scenes I need to add.
