' you should always be a little manipulative in love. ask them to stay when they really have to leave knowing that they'll, indeed, stay, find a way to manipulate them out of their first layer of clothes so you can wear them, make big, doe-like eyes up at them when you want them to buy you a little snack... shiver like you're about to undergo hypotermia so they discard their nice jacket and put it on your shoulders... and much more. Running gag in Iced Tracks where every photo/portrait/painting of Ingo and Zisu has Zisu wearing a full suit of armor that shows no skin or defining features. It's impossible to tell if there's anyone in there.
This becomes a bit that is committed to to the extent of people not actually being sure if they actually have a queen, or if the "wedding" was a stunt to get nobles to stop sending their daughters to make eyes at Ingo, and their current king actually has no wife at all.
Ignore the red-haired silver-eyed extremely loud little children running around those totally aren't his and his supposed "wife's," those are adopted. They aren't blood heirs.
(Cue Ingo insisting that yes of course these are his children, whose else would they be, as he pats the shoulders of two of the kids, then gestures to the other two and says "these two are adopted")
(Do not imply to a man who has borne witness to the birth of his children that no, those aren't of your blood)
("Oh so my wife was playing a bit, then" "Majesty, some people don't think you have a wife --" "Then who on earth is that woman I see every day and night? I doubt I could hallucinate such a beauty")
(Zisu is losing it off to the side)
Basically, Emmet and Evelyn are the normal couple, Ingo and Zisu are full of shenanigans and go down in history as the absolute happiest couple and also the one that caused the most distress in their panel of advisors

❝And here I thought it was your birthday we were supposed to be celebrating. Not mine. ❞
With Cora-chan put safely down for the evening and whatever misgivings the routine act of preparing her for bed hadn’t soothed effectively mollified by the vision that greeted him when he’d finally made his way back to their bedroom, Law hummed in satisfaction where his lips pressed to Nami’s spine.
Both the calendar and the egregious amount of beri he’d spent on their outing left little doubt of the day’s occasion, but it was the Heart captain himself who’d come to bed to find a gift waiting for him when he’d finally turned their dark-haired daughter over to Nojiko and Bellemere’s care for the evening. The gift came unwrapped and lay sprawled across their mattress, artfully and conveniently poised to be admired and appreciated by the man she waited up for.
And had he. First by amber gaze that had traveled the anticipatory trail from the discarded robe on the floor to the ex-marine reading naked upon their bed, ankles crossed behind her as she awaited the arrival they’d both known wouldn’t take long. Not after she’d slid her arms around him and crept onto her tiptoes to breathe a pointed reminder that it was *still my birthday, Captain- don’t be long* in his ear a few minutes prior. Eager and intrigued, Law had followed behind shortly after, and was not surprised in the least to find her belly-down upon the bedding, pretending to be far more engrossed in her book than he suspected she actually was. Still, hungry gaze had traveled every inch of Nami’s bare and unblemished skin as he’d drawn nearer, distractedly undoing the buttons of his shirt. It hung open upon his shoulders now, forgotten with everything that wasn’t her her her.
His blood had enjoyed the view as well, warming as he stepped closer and it ran further south.
Thirdly, by lips and by touch- approving noises made in the back of his throat as he crawled and touched and admired his way up his wife’s gorgeous body. Starting with the hand that reached out to curl around her right ankle. Tattooed digits wrapped around it, untangling the two and lowering her right leg til it lay flat upon the mattress. From there he ran his palm along the back of the limb, in long, sweeping strokes from her heel to her calf, her knee to her thigh, pausing periodically to massage taut muscle along the way. His lips had mirrored the trail on Nami’s left leg, beginning with a kiss pressed to her foot, followed by the brush of his lips and bristle of his goatee as he kissed his way higher along the appendage. He had worked his way in tandem along both sides of the woman’s body, kisses and gentle touches to the back of her knees, the back of her thighs, the curve of her backside, the small of her back until at last he lay half atop her, supporting his weight on one arm while the other hand slid around to curl just shy of her breasts and his lips and teeth continued toying and nipping their way to the base of her skull. Only when he’d made his way to her hairline, pausing to inhale the scent of her mikan locks, did Law hum again, pressing himself closely enough against her backside for Nami to feel his own excitement beginning to strain against his jeans. He rocked against her only once before dipping his head to breathe into her ear.
❝And how would my Lady Captain have me on her special day?❞ he inquired, tongue darting out to accentuate the question with a slow drag along the shell of her ear. ❝Since it seems you haven’t had your fill of being spoiled yet. ❞

This is a AU Theo One-Shot! You’re a figure skater and he’s a hockey player. I mean come onnnn you’re telling me he wouldn’t play hockey in an AU?
NO WARNINGS JUST FLUFF! ^.^
As you and your friends enter the cold skating arena you see the hockey team. This wouldn't be a problem besides for the fact that the figure skating team had already scheduled the rink for today. You were the head of the figure skating team so naturally it was your duty to figure out why there was a ton of sweaty boys on the ice where your team was supposed to be practicing for the next comp. The boys still hadn't noticed your team coming inside. 'Oblivious as always' you think to yourself as you lace up your skates.
Once you were fit to be on the ice you entered the rink. "NOTT!" You yelled for the captain as the boys were all practicing drills. They were all yelling at each other rough housing while practicing, so regardless of your effort he still couldn't hear you. You skated closer. "NOTT!" One of the boys finally notice you and jabs Theo's arm to get him to turn around. You were fuming. Ofcourse, on the days leading up to the upcoming competition he would be the one to interrupt your scheduled practice. You and Theo didn't have the greatest of relationships. He would always make comments about how figure skating wasn't a real sport or invalidate your team. You couldn't stand him. Ohh and better yet whenever you two would rarely have the occasional interaction, he would every time, without fail, tease you enough to wear you would just have to walk away.
"Nott. What the hell do you think you're doing here?" You say nearly out raged as you skate up to him. "Why, what ever do you mean Y/n, and whatever happened to hello?" "You know exactly what I mean! Don't try to act so innocent. You knew that we were supposed to have the ice today!" You say crossing your arms looking up at the tall boy, brows furrowed. He towered over you, you weren't gonna lie here but Theo was practically eye candy. He was tall, broad shoulders, slim waist, his striking stormy eyes, and golden locks would be enough to make any girl fold. But not you. His personality and past actions to you and your team was enough to make you be repulsed by him. Or at least so you thought. "No we were scheduled to have the ice. Not like you would actually be doing anything useful on it." He slightly mumbled and snickered the last part. The rest of the hockey team shared laughs with eachother from the comment. "Check the schedule on the board dimwit! We are scheduled every sunday, wednesday, and friday, and guess what? It's friday." You say staring intently at the boy. He pauses. "Well coach told us we can take the ice whenever we please as long as we're practicing." He says shrugging. "I don't care what 'YoUr CoAch SaYs' we are scheduled to be here and I don't plan on leaving." You say with no intention of folding to wishes. His team 'oooo's at your remark. Theo looks around the rink then sighs. "We have an upcoming game-" "And we have an upcoming competition." You interrupt. He sighs, "How about we share the ice, but just for today. We'll take left and you guys can have the other half." His team erupts in groans and 'cmonn's. You consider his suggestion, "I'll have to discuss that." You say sighing.
You skate back to your team who are all waiting at the front of the arena. When they see you approaching they all start asking questions, 'are we gonna be able to practice today?' 'Are they gonna leave or what?' "So...Nott said that we can split the ice for today." The girls groan at the thought of sharing the arena with the sweaty boys. "They have an upcoming game and we have our competition...if you guys don't wanna practice today that's fine but that just means on sunday we're gonna have to be earlier and stay later." You say shrugging giving them their options. The girls chatter and formulate their thoughts together. The hockey team watches from the rink. "So?" You ask the girls. "We should just share the ice for today, none of us wanna stay late on sunday...I mean it's a school night. It's just not gonna fit." One of the girls speak up. "Mmok." You sigh. "Just lace up and get ready to run your routines okay? We'll try to make the best of the space we have." You say reassuring the girls, then skate back to Theo. "We'll share the ice for today.." They groan, you roll your eyes. "And Nott so help me, if I see one puck or player on our side of the arena it's not gonna be pretty." You say glaring up at Theo, he rolls his eyes. "Whatever you say Y/n...Pleasure doing business with you" He smirks extending his hand for you to shake it. "No thank you." You say turning around and skating back to the girls. You explain the conditions and what not. You lay out little orange cones down the middle of the arena to signify the 'border' between the two teams.
The girls ran their routines with limited space. As captain you were to make sure the girl's routines were as close to perfect as possible, all while trying to perfect yours. There was already enough stress not including the fact you had to share the arena. While most of the girls were taking a break, you decided to run your routine since you had more space. All of your routine was going smoothly, nearly perfect actually, until you failed to land your double axel. You would've landed it if it wasn't for the hockey puck that had slid underneath you skate. As the blade and the puck hit each other you fell to the ground. Flat on your ass. Your eyes shut and face scrunched from the sudden fall. You look for the reason you didn't land, your eyes lay on the hockey puck. You were furious. The girls had already rushed up to you to see if you were okay, they helped you up. The boys stood across the rink mouths agape preparing for the ass ripping you were about to give them. You grab the hockey puck and skate up to Theo who was already approaching you. "Nott what the fuck is this? I told you to no pucks on our side! Exactly for that reason!" You say gesturing towards where you fell. "Y/n, I'm sorry. It's not like we did it intentionally!" He tries to reason. "Keep it on your side." You say pressing the heavy puck into his chest, slightly pushing him back.
You skate back to outside the rink to catch a break and get some water. The rest of the girls stay on the ice glaring daggers at the boys while they resume practicing. The rest of the girls run through their routines again, you give them notes and help them perfect every small thing. The rest of practice went smoothly, the boys not daring to let a puck even get close to the cones. After about 2 hours the boys had all left the rink and went to the shower rooms or had just left entirely. You say goodbye to your team, giving them small hugs. You were then left alone on the ice.
Since your fall you decided you would stay late and run your routines until the janitors came. You cleared the cones and ran your routine from the top. Finally you were able to land your double axel without the worry of hockey pucks. Your routine included many tricks and techniques. You landed two more double axels after the first and after a couple more swift tricks your routine was done. As you finished you heard clapping coming from the front of the rink. You surprised, immediately all your attention was on the tall boy who was intently watching you. "Oh piss off Nott." You roll your eyes skating to your water. "What? I was being serious, ya know Y/n you might be changing my mind on if figure skating is a real sport." He teased leaning against the entrance of the rink. You scoff. "For starters it is. I would like to see you land those tricks." You take a sip of your water. "Oh really? I can't see how it could be that hard, all you're doing is twirling." He rolls his eyes. You set your water down and cross your arms. "Okay then, do it." You shrug. He gets on the ice and skates up to you. "Watch me." He says with his usual absolutely massive ego. You lean against the railing and gesture for him to go. He tries to imitate your routine and then tries to go for the double axel.
*BOOM*
He landed straight on his ass, just like you did, but twenty times harder. He groans laying flat on his back on the ice. You can't help but start laughing at the sight. Covering your mouth you lean forward absolutely consumed with laughter. "Oh shut it Y/n." He says sitting up. You continue laughing. "I'm really gonna need them to pull the camera footage of that." You say in between your fits of laughter. He's finally back on his feet. "I could've landed that if I really wanted to." He says acting nonchalant as he comes back to you. You raise an eye brow. "Oh really?" "Yup." He says shrugging. "God, and you say figure skating isn't a real sport?" "Well maybe my opinions might be in the route of changing..." He says lightly laughing. "As much as I would like to see you fall on your ass again, I need to run my routine a couple more times." You say folding your arms looking up at him. "Oh uhm, I actually wanted to apologize for earlier...with the whole, uh y'know..." He says scratching the back of his head. You sigh "It's whatever, not like I actually got injured or anything." You say looking anywhere but his eyes. "But what if?" He says softly, eyebrows slightly furrowed. His usual nonchalant teasing tone now completely washed away. His small remark made you pay your attention back to him, you tilt your head slightly. "I...uhm..." You say with a small voice. His icy eyes staring intently into yours. The tension is thick. The air between you going thin. "I don't know how I could've made it up to you if you got hurt...I just...I know we've had our differences, but I just wanna make things right." He says softly placing a reassuring hand on your arm, his thumb rubbing up and down gently. You glance down at his hand then back up at him. "Uhm...I...uh.." You say quietly. A dusty pink rising to your cheeks, maybe it was just from the cold atmosphere, or maybe not. You've never found yourself flustered around him before. Seeing this side of him was weird. He actually cared? Your mind was blank, you were unable to formulate any words.
You two stand in the middle of the rink. The lights from above shining down on you two. "I wanted to let you know I'm not some complete jerk I guess..." His eyes glancing all around your face. He towered over you, normally it wouldn't have mattered, but being in this position right now you felt completely vulnerable under his soft touch. You just looked up at him, your eyelashes fluttering. When you saw his eyes linger down to your lips your heart nearly stopped. As for when he began to slowly dip his head down to yours, you froze. His lips ghosted yours for a second. With his hand still lingering on your arm, he softly connected his lips with yours. His free hand gliding gently up to the side of your face. The second his soft lips touched yours, you immediately gave into the kiss. In an arena of cold ice, your body was anything but cold. Your hands snaked up to either side of his neck and face. His lips were like plush, tenderly moving against yours. He pulls away resting his forehead against yours. Your eyes flutter open. His eyes fixated on yours. Your chest rising up and down with every flustered breath you take.
"HEY LOVE BIRDS WE'RE CLOSED!"
Almost in an instant you both rip away from each other to see the janitor standing at the entrance of the arena donut in hand. "Oh uhm!" You say completely embarrassed, your fingertips cover your lips. You and Theo both stand there just staring at him. "Well cmon, I gotta get to cleaning." The janitor says rushing you guys to get going. You both skate to the entrance not saying a word. You quickly change out of your skates and pack your bag. Theo doing the same. You both walk to the exit together still no words being said. "Well, uhm, goodnight Theo." You say trying to exit the building as fast as possible still completely unbelieving what just happened. As you try to walk away Theo's warm hand grasps your wrist pulling you back close to him. "Y/n...just...I've been wanting to do that for so long, please just give me one chance, one chance to show you I'm not who you think I am." He says tenderly looking down at you. "Okay..." You say eyes connecting with his. "Dinner? Tomorrow at 7?" "Yeah.." A small smile grows on your face. "Okay, i'll text you okay?" "Okay, goodnight Theo.." you say softly. Stand on your tippy toes planting a gentle but sweet kiss on his cheek.

This is soooo cute rahhhh!

Wanderer: “I wonder time and time again why Their Grace favors me over anyone else despite all the bad things I’ve done. Perhaps they see some use in me that no one else has seen, or maybe they are waiting for me to drop my guard… why are you giving me that look Traveler… huh? You think I like being favored by the Creator? Well, who wouldn’t? They are the God of Gods and if they see usefulness in a pawn such as myself, then I will keep proving myself as worthy.”
Kazuha: I am forever grateful for my position with Their Grace. Even though I travel often, and they are constantly busy, we always make time to spend together. I like showing them the best views within Teyvat. I hope that one day they’ll agree to wander this beautiful world with me… ehem… I apologize, speaking about this with you has inspired me to write a new haiku about Their Grace.”
Ei: “You wish to know about my relationship with Their Grace? Well, they have been spending lots of time in Inazuma with me… they had promised to teach me how to cook. It hasn’t been successful yet, but I will keep trying just to see that smile on their face. I truly adore spending my time with them, I am learning how to be my own Archon rather than following in her footsteps… perhaps I have no reason to live in fear any longer.”
Childe: “Their Grace is the only God that is above Her Majesty. Despite what you think about the Fatui, we all still worship them comrade. Anytime Their Grace is in Snezhnaya, I always enjoy taking them ice fishing. I think the other Harbingers are a bit jealous of our closeness though. It doesn’t matter, as long as their eyes stay on me, then I’m happy.
Kamisato Ayato: “Hmm? My relationship with Their Grace is strictly professional… yes it is true that they spend lots of time at the Kamisato Estate but it because our discussions go late into the night and I wouldn’t dare send Their Grace away… huh? You wish to know what we discuss? Hehe… let’s change the subject, shall we..?”
Eula: “They are part of the very few who don’t judge me solely because of my clan. Their benevolence is like no other… hmm? What do you mean you saw the two of us at Good Hunter together? I was just showing them around Mondstadt, nothing else… Their Grace wishes to learn the Dance of Sacrifice… that’s the only reason we spend so much time together… why are you giving me that look? Hmph, vengeance will be mine!
Beidou: “Anytime Their Grace is on the Alcor we have an overwhelming amount of luck! We get so much treasure and never run into any storms in the middle of the ocean, I like to think of them as my good luck charm! The crew and I love having them on board, not to mention that they can hold their alcohol unlike anyone else I’ve met.. I wonder if they’re willing to be a permanent member on board… I’ll even make them co-captain if they desire.”

Nico couldn’t stop thinking about her. He knew it was wrong, liking one of his best friend’s/teammates' little sister, but he couldn’t help it. He was drawn to her the first night he met her, the way her eyes lit up when someone mentioned her major, the way she smiled bigger when someone would bring up her brothers, the way she blushed when someone would compliment her outfit.
The first time he met her was in December of her freshman year of college. She had finished her exams a day earlier so she and her parents went to New Jersey to cheer on Jack. She had yet to see one of his games so she was excited when it was finally time for her to see him play professionally. They were playing the Ducks and they ended up winning 3-1 with Jack getting a secondary assist.
The bonus of that game was that Nico caught her eye during warm ups. She had gone down to surprise Jack, waiting by the boards. While she was waiting for her brother to notice her, her eyes were trained onto one of his teammates. She couldn’t help but fall for the way he smiled, he was the most handsome man she had ever seen. She was (so rudely) interrupted when Jack appeared in front of her banging on the glass with a giddy expression on his face.
Later that night after the game, her, Luke, and their parents were waiting for Jack to finish whatever he was doing. Luke groaned as they waited, “I’m hungry.”
Y/n hit her younger brother in the chest, “You and you’re fucking metabolism.”
“Language y/n.”
“Sorry mom.”
“Yeah, language y/n.” The girl goes to hit him again but is stopped when Jack comes running out, “Y/n!!”
She grunts when Jack’s body collides with her, “I can’t believe you’re here! How’s school going? Any boys?” His eyebrow raises at his last statement but she just rolls her eyes.
“I’m glad you’re here though.”
“Me too, Jacky.”
Their moment is interrupted when Jack glances over to see one of his teammates and screams out his name, “Nico!”
The man stops, turning towards him and smiling awkwardly, “Hi.”
Jack pulls away from his sister excitedly, “Guys this is Nico. Nico this is my mom and my dad, my twin sister y/n, and my younger brother Luke.”
Y/n immediately recognizes him from earlier as the one who she couldn’t stop staring at. She didn’t think he could get any cuter until he spoke more and she heard more of his accent, “Nice to meet you all. Mr. and Mrs. Hughes your son is incredibly talented.”
Both Ellen and Jim thank Nico for his kind words before he turns to face the two teenagers. Jack looks between Luke and Nico happily, “Luke plays hockey too. He’ll be in the draft in a couple years.”
Luke gives his older brother a look, “As if.”
“Oh come on, Lukey. You’ll be great. You’re definitely making it in the draft, even will go in the first round.” Luke was always getting praised by his sister, she made it her job to make sure her brothers knew how good they were.
Nico looked at the girl in the eyes, “Do you play too?”
The three siblings burst out laughing as they gave each other looks, “Oh god no. I would fall as soon as I touched my toe on the ice.”
“It’s true. When we were younger she came to one of our games, mom and dad took her on the ice and she couldn’t stay up for the life of her.”
Y/n rolled her eyes, a blush rising to her cheeks, “Yes, we get it. I’m horrible at skating.”
Nico laughed a little and it was like heaven to her ears. The next couple of minutes were silent and awkward, her and Nico making eye contact for the duration. When Nico left, Ellen gave her daughter a look before she just ushered all of them out of the building, Luke still complaining about how hungry he was.
Ever since then, the two of them couldn’t stop thinking about each other. And ever since then, Nico hadn’t been able to hold a long conversation with the girl. He loved the way she blushed when something even remotely embarrassing happened, how she blushed whenever he even said one word to her, he loved everything about her.
Now, she had graduated college and decided to move to New Jersey because of a great job opportunity. Jack was more than ecstatic to have two of his siblings moving in with him, especially his twin sister. She at first refused to move in with the two, not wanting to impose on the next step in Luke’s hockey career but they both argued with her that they wanted to have her there.
She now was able to go to a lot more of their games which meant she saw a lot more of Nico. When she was too tired to stay awake to wait for Jack and Luke, Nico would offer to take her home. She was grateful every time he did, practically falling asleep in his car. He couldn’t help but look over at her constantly as he drove back to the Hughes’ apartment.
One night, she had to wait for Jack and Luke because they were going out to dinner together for her birthday. She had been leaning up against the wall when Nico came out, “Hey.”
“Hi, Nico.” She blushed as she made eye contact with him.
“You need a ride home tonight?” He noticed the way she could barely keep her eyes open as they kept drooping down.
She shook her head, “No, we're going out for my birthday.”
“Happy birthday.”
“Thank you, but it’s actually not till the weekend but you guys are going to be gone so they wanted to celebrate tonight. Congrats on the win, by the way.”
“Thank you.” He walked over closer to her, standing next to her. She was tired enough that she ended up laying her head on his shoulder, no longer able to stay upright.
He was surprised by the sudden pressure he felt and turned his gaze towards her. Her eyes were now closed as her arms crossed over her chest, shivering from the cold of the Prudential Center. That was one thing she had never gotten used to. Nico smiled as he watched her, in awe about how much she was comfortable around him.
He hadn’t noticed Jack come out from around the corner, his gaze entirely focused on her. Jack had stopped himself in the middle of the hallway when he noticed his captain and his sister. He was a little dumbfounded at first, not expecting to see them together. He started to become frustrated, but he couldn’t tell who he was more frustrated with, although he knew deep down he would never really be mad at either of them.
The more he stared at them, the more he grew fond of the two together. He watched as Nico took his suit jacket off of his arm and placed it around the girl carefully. He winced when he saw her move off his shoulder, slightly scared that the two would notice him now. However, as she lifted her head she kept her eyes closed, grasping the edges of the jacket, pulling it closer to her, and laying her head back down on Nico’s shoulder.
He smiled as Nico smiled, still looking down at her. Jack knew that Nico was the right guy for her. He knew that if she was too uncomfortable to speak, he would speak for her. If she was having a hard day he knew he would be there for her. He knew that he would do anything for her. And in that moment, he knew that they were perfect for each other.
As soon as he finished that thought, Luke came walking up behind him looking at his phone. He bumped into him and stumbled a little, surprised by the sudden impact. He looked at his brother confused, “Sorry, dude. What the fuck are you doing just standing in the middle of the hallway?”
Jack hissed at how loud his younger brother’s voice was and grimaced when he saw y/n and Nico jump from their positions leaning against each other. Y/n’s eyes were wide as she saw her brothers standing there, she was nervous about how or if they would react to what they just saw. Nico on the other hand felt guilty. He knew he shouldn’t be falling in love with her, he knew he shouldn’t be catching feelings for his teammates' sister, his best friend’s sister.
He cleared his throat and y/n looked at him, “Oh yeah. Thanks, Nico, here’s your jacket.”
He held his hand up as a form of goodbye before walking away. She was looking at the ground and Luke and Jack were exchanging looks with each other. Luke was giving his brother a look saying that they should do something about it, saying that they had to talk to her. Jack was giving him a look saying that it was okay, not to bother it right now, it was something for a later time.
The two walked over to her, placed their arms around her, and walked out to their car, “Who is ready to celebrate their birthday?”
✧༺✎༻∞
The next day the team was at practice, and Nico was completely unfocused the whole time. He was anxious about whether or not Jack or Luke would talk to him about what they saw last night. He skated away from the two Hughes’ every chance he got. At one point, he had to actually dodge Luke from coming at him.
When they were in the locker room, Jack had walked up to him desperately wanting to talk to him. When he felt the tap on his shoulder, he turned around and looked at him with wide eyes, “Hey Jack.”
“We need to talk.”
He nodded, worry once again making its presence known, “Listen I know I should’ve told you about how I felt about y/n. And I know I shouldn’t even have these feelings as it is  because she’s your sister and I know that you won’t-”
“Hey. That’s not what I was going to say at all. I was going to tell you that I’m okay with you two dating. I actually think you would be great for her.”
Nico was taken aback by his friend’s answer. He wasn’t telling him to date his sister, right? There was no way. Jack noticed the look on his captain’s face and smiled, “I know it’s weird that I'm telling you to date my sister, but I know you will treat her right, Nico. I trust you.”
Nico nodded, “I mean, we might be getting way over our heads, right? I mean, she might not even like me like that.”
The younger boy shook his head, “She does. I haven’t seen her that comfortable around someone in a while. Trust me, she likes you.”
With the assurance from Jack that it was okay and his newfound confidence, Nico knew he had to ask her out, and he knew it had to be perfect. So he took every piece of knowledge he knew about her, the fact that she doesn’t like grand gestures, what her favorite restaurant is, what her favorite thing to do is, and compiled them into a date.
When they get back from their road trip, y/n comes to the first game she can. During that game, both Jack and Nico got a goal, and Nico’s being assisted by her brothers. They won the game and as usual, the boys wanted to go out and celebrate. However, it had been a long day for the girl, she had been screamed at during work for doing something that she didn’t even do, she then ripped her favorite shirt due to a small thread getting caught on her desk drawer.
If things couldn’t get worse, she had forgotten her lunch at the apartment, causing her not to eat for a large amount of time, only being able to snack on a couple of things here and not wanting to spend an outrageous amount of money on food at Prudential. On her way there she had almost gotten into an accident which was her final straw. She had just wanted to sit down and watch her brothers, and Nico, play so she could go home.
As always, she waited for them as she stared at the wall across from her. Today, Luke was the first one out, standing next to her as she buried her head into his chest, oh so close to crying. It wasn’t until Jack came out and placed a hand on her back that she started crying. Jack pulled his twin in for a hug, consoling her as best as he could, “What’s wrong, y/n/n?”
“I’ve had a really shitty day.”
Jack frowned, defeated, knowing there was nothing he could really do about it. Yet when he saw Nico walk out he ushered him over, motioning to him that if he was going to do something he should do it now. Nico looked at him with crazed eyes as he mouthed, “Now?!”
He nodded and pulled his sister away from his body, “Hey, we’re gonna go hang out with the team and I’m sure you wanna go home, is it okay if Nico takes you home?”
It was like her brain switched on when Jack mentioned Nico. She stood up straight and quickly wiped the tears off her face, dirtying her sweatshirt sleeve. Nico gave him a look but he just winked. Y/n nodded her head, waving goodbye to her brothers. They both kissed her head before walking away and the two could hear them bickering about something on their way out.
Nico and y/n stood there awkwardly before Nico motioned her to start walking, “After you.”
She started walking, throwing her hands into her sweatshirt pockets, “You didn’t want to go out?”
“Nah, I’m kind of tired right now.”
She gave him a nod of sympathy, understanding exactly where he was coming from. Nico looked at her a little worried, some of the tears were still on her face, having dried up, “Are you okay?”
“No, yeah. It was just a crappy day.”
“Can I ask what happened?” He opened the car door for her and allowed her to jump in.
She waited until he got into the car and turned the heat on before she answered, “It was just a bunch of little things that happened. If they had happened on separate days it wouldn’t have been as bad.”
They sat in silence again and almost up until they reached the Hughes’ apartment. When they were about two minutes away, Nico looked at her suddenly becoming anxious. If he was to do it, he should do it now.
“Can I ask you a question?”
“Mhm, go for it.”
“Do you want to go on a date?”
If she was the one driving right now she would’ve slammed on the brakes and whipped her head towards him, but she wasn’t. So instead her eyes snapped open and she fiddled with her fingers. Nico grew even more anxious at the silence coming from the girl, wondering if Jack was right about his sister’s feelings for him.
She didn’t talk until he pulled into the parking lot, “Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why me?”
“Because you’re you and- and I don’t know. I just really want to, I really want to take you out on a date.”
“Where?”
“To your favorite restaurant. And then I want to take you to Barnes and Noble and let you pick out your favorite books so I can buy them for you. And then we can go walk around and look around at the lights. And then I’ll take you to your favorite bakery so we can get a muffin for you on your way home.”
Y/n looked at him in awe, not expecting him to know all of these things about her, “How do you know that?”
“How do I know what?”
“What my favorite things are?”
“Because I know you, y/n Hughes. You are the girl who comes and supports her brothers every chance she gets, you’re the girl who smiles politely at someone even if you don’t like them, you’re the girl who blushes at everything remotely embarrassing, you’re the girl who lights up when you talk about your job, you’re the girl who brings a book to a fucking hockey game so you can read at intermission, you’re the girl I’ve liked since December 18, 2019.”
“You remember the day I met you?”
“No, I remember the day I fell in love with you.”
“You’re in love with me?”
“Yeah, that seemed a bit much… I’m sorry.”
She shook her fearlessly, “I’m in love with you too, Neeks.”
“So does that mean you’ll go on a date with me?”
“Yeah.”
He leaned in to kiss her and she immediately reciprocated.
Meanwhile, Jack and Luke were on their way to get dinner, arguing about how Jack would let y/n date Nico, “I mean what if they break up, Jack! It’s gonna be so fucking awkward!”
Jack shook his head, “They won’t break up.”
Luke raised an eyebrow and turned to face his brother directly, “And how do you know that?”
“Because he’s perfect for her.”

An Unlikely Duo
Request by ✨ anon: Can I perhaps get a Ghost x GN!Reader, where reader got transferred to TF 141 and has two personalities? Like cold and badass on the battlefield and super friendly and chirpy back at base. So Reader, on day 1, already sees Ghost as a best friend and she loves hugs, so she decides to hug him after a missions success and leaves him frozen and a blushing mess?
Relationship: Simon “Ghost” Riley x GN!Reader

Notes:
Big thanks to my ✨ anon for requesting this. I enjoyed writing it! Hope I did well on my first request!

You walk behind him, holding a container filled with freshly washed strawberries. His strides are long and confident, making it hard for you to keep up with him as you walk to the truck.
“Would you like a strawberry?” You ask, extending the container to him, but he ignores you and quickens his pace.
You try to catch your breath as you follow him, but it’s difficult. Whenever you think you’re closing the gap, he increases his speed and pulls away again. You break into a light jog to stay close.
“So, I presume... you’re not... a strawberry fan?” You ask, out of breath. Instead of responding, he lets out a dismissive “tsk” and continues walking.
“Why don’t you like str-”
“Get that damn thing away from me and keep moving,” he says as he pushes your hand away. “We have work to do; no time for strawberries.”
You come to a complete halt. “With all due respect, Lieutenant, strawberries are-”
“Just get in the damn car,” he orders, opening the back door and gesturing for you to get inside.
It’s your first day as the newest member of Task Force 141, and the base already feels like a powder keg. But that doesn’t bother you; you’re excited to be a part of such an elite team and contribute as much as possible to future missions. Soap and Gaz were surprised but amused by your cheerful personality when they met you this morning. However, not everyone on the team seems to be on the same page; Ghost was less than impressed. He sized you up from head to toe, looking for any sign that you were ready for the mission. But, instead of finding comfort, he was met by your cheery attitude and endless questions about his fruit preferences.
“What is this, Captain?” He grumbled at Price, “I asked for an explosives specialist, not a fucking Jack Russell.”
“Laswell swears by their abilities,” Price reassured him, “just give ’em a chance, brother...”
Despite his trust in the captain, Ghost remained skeptical. Was it the way you expressively waved your hands while speaking? Was it because you couldn’t stop talking about strawberries? Was it because you couldn’t stop talking in general? Whatever the reason, Ghost was clearly not on board.
He has the same attitude as he sits across from you in the truck, driving to your assigned mission. It’s a look of concern and contempt. as if he can’t believe what fate has brought him this time—like he’s been dealt bad cards yet again.
But that’s okay; you’re used to feeling like an outcast, and you’re not going to let that get in the way of this mission’s success.
“Yo, Lt.?” You ask excitedly, attempting to break the ice by pulling a purple star-shaped charm from your pocket, “Do you like it?”
He looks at you with half-lidded eyes. “You look like you just got out of a toy store.” He comments flatly.
“That wasn’t my question, sir,” you say wryly, “and if that’s the case, then you look like you just got back from trick-or-treating.” You smile and attach the charm to your assault rifle.
“Take that off this instance,” he says, “I won’t let you and your sparkles hinder our position.”
“Okay, first of all, they’re not sparkles—they’re sequins,” you say, waving your gun around so he can see the charm, “and second, they won’t even see it when they’re dead.”
“Stop talking.” He sighs.
“I’m conversing, not talking.”
“Then stop conversing.”
“Like, who doesn’t like strawberries?” you ask, lowering your voice.
“I told you to stop.”
“And sequins are pretty cool, man.” You mutter to yourself as you cross your hands over your chest.
“Shut it and put your helmet on; we’re almost there,” Ghost says sternly.
You fall silent as you gaze out the window at the passing scenery. The tension in the truck is intense, but you refuse to let it get to you. Instead, you take a deep breath and relax.
As the truck comes to a stop, Ghost explains the goal of the mission: get to the door where the valuable information is stored and collect as much intel as possible. After his brief rundown, you quickly exit the vehicle and assume position. It’s game time, and you’re determined to prove to everyone what you’re capable of.
You move fluidly through the environment, using your firearms, knives, and bare hands with precision to take out any targets that come your way. You are agile and swift, never staying in one place for too long and using your surroundings to your advantage. He takes quick glimpses at you every now and then to check if you are okay. He seems impressed yet wary; as if he’s testing you to see if you’re up for the challenge, yet careful enough to not put you in danger. As you work through the guarded area, you keep calm and focus on the task, finally reaching the steel-framed door. However, the door remains unyielding despite using military-grade hammers and refuses to budge.
You turn towards Ghost to plan your next move when you notice an enemy approaching him from behind.
“Get down, Lt.!” You yell and throw a knife at the enemy. The lieutenant is stunned but quickly regains his composure. He turns to thank you, but you cut him off.
“This isn’t a playground, Lt.; I don’t need a babysitter, and I certainly won’t become yours.” You firmly tell him as you push him aside and place the purple star-shaped charm on the door’s lock. “Step back,” you order.
Ghost looks at you, puzzled.” What is-”
“You must learn when it’s the right time for chit-chat and when to listen to the specialist, sir; please take a step back.” You repeat, and he follows your instructions.
With everyone clear of the area, you pull the cord and duck for cover. Five seconds later, your bomb detonates, blasting open the door and granting you access to the information inside. You quickly survey the room and pinpoint the location of the vital information. You approach it with calculated precision, relying on your training and experience to predict potential threats. The room is full of guards, but you’re prepared for them; you take them out, using your weapons with deadly accuracy. The intel is kept in a secure case, and you begin working on cracking it open. You have a special tool for the job, and the lock gives way in seconds. You open the case and extract the valuable information.
After a quick glance at the documents, you are pleased to see that it is exactly what you were hoping for. Ghost calls for backup to secure the scene, collect the documents, and transport them back to the base. As he completes his orders, he turns to the team for a debriefing, but instead is met by the old, cheerful you.
“LT., WE DID IT!” You yell and leap onto Ghost, wrapping your arms around his waist and hugging him tightly. He freezes and raises his hands as if he’s been arrested for a crime.
“Get off me,” he orders with an unusually high-pitched voice.
“No, you deserve it.” You object and proceed to pat him on the back.
“I did nothing wrong to deserve this, soldier; get your fucking ha-”
“Shhh, Lieutenant.” You cut him off by putting your hand over his mouth to silence him. “You must feel the hug.”
“I said-”
“They’re right, Ghost,” Soap interrupts him with a sinister grin, “you must feel the hug.”
“Yeah, listen to the specialist, sir,” Gaz adds, trying hard not to laugh.
Ghost looks at Price for help, who has a satisfied smirk on his face. The captain turns to Ghost and mouths an inaudible “told you so,” establishing you as a valuable member of their team from now on.

the slight sway of the ship relaxes you as you lay out on the deck. above lies pale blue skies, the sun radiates down through the atmosphere, warming your tanned skin as a soft breeze gusts past, sweeping your hair off of your shoulders. the day couldn’t be any more ideal, as the chatter from your crew served as pleasant background noise to the otherwise emptiness of your mind.
zoro rests by a nearby railing, muscular arms crossed as he takes his afternoon nap. nami is caring for her tangerine bushes. holding hedge shears, she’s smiling and laughing with robin as she waters her small yet vibrant flower garden. usopp and chopper sit cross legged on the lawn, engrossed in a board game. luffy sits between them, tongue poking out of his mouth as he studies their every move. franky is nowhere to be found, most likely toiling with a new gadget in his quarters. brook is perched on a bench by the lawn, horse haired bow sliding along his violin strings as he plays a soothing tune.
these are the days you cherish, no conflict, no marines, no enemies. just the days you get to spend with your best friends. the days where everybody is gathered near and most importantly safe. you smile to yourself as you relax your eyes, resting your arms behind your head, breathing in a sigh of relief. you begin to loose track of time, focusing your senses the serenity of the sea, before you’re interrupted.
“y/n,” a whisper comes from beside you. you open one eye, your peripheral revealing your smiling boyfriend standing over you, casting a shadow. you sit up in your chair, eyes lighting up at the view his charming, handsome face.
“sanji,” you reach your arms out for him. he kneels down to your level, resting his head on your shoulder, as his arms wrap around your figure. his large hands glide up and down the small of your back as he takes in the sweetness of your scent, sunscreen paired with your favorite shampoo.
“hi darling,” he whispers pressing a soft kiss into your shoulder before leaning back at an arms length, kneading your shoulders with his thumb. “i’m making some refreshments right now, would you like one?”
you smile in admiration, eyes wide as you stare up at your lover, “of course love, what did you make?” you rise to your feet, stretching your limbs and yawning loudly. you don’t miss sanji’s gaze as it rakes your body in its entirety. you’ve been dating for a while now, but that will never prevent him from admiring your beauty.
“your favorite,” he grins offering his hand for you to take. “raspberry iced tea.” you grasp his hand bringing it to your lips before you press a soft kiss his fingers. the cool metal of his rings causing a small shiver to chill your bones. “you know me so well.”
you stride hand in hand, following him towards the kitchen. just as he’s about to push the door open you hear a small racket coming from behind you. you snap your head around to find luffy, chopper, and usopp have abandoned their game. instead they are leaning over the railing of the ship, hollering and waving towards something in the near distance. you squint your eyes, just barely making out a yellow figure that slowly emerges from the sea. you release sanji’s hand, face lighting up as you bolt down the stairs. you almost skip towards where your crew mates gather, hanging your upper body over the rail alongside chopper. as you predict, it’s none other than the polar tang which means only one thing to you.
once the submarine fully surfaces, you direct your focus onto the front door. the doorknob jiggles for a moment before it’s swung open, revealing the familiar face of trafalgar law. you hear cheers from beside you, luffy jumps up and down calling out to the other captain, as chopper’s eyes light up at his entrance.
“tra-guy,” luffy bellows waving his arms back and forth dramatically as if law isn’t about 10 feet away. law rolls his eyes, before casting a room over the ship. you feel a gust behind you and all four of you pivot on your heels. law stands in front of you, long jacket open, revealing not only his tattooed torso, but the ab muscles etched underneath his skin. he adorns his signature irritated expression as he tsks under his breath. “straw hat-ya,” he speaks, avoiding eye contact all together.
“tra-guy!” luffy exclaims, marching towards him and wrapping an arm around his shoulder, pulling him in for an embrace. law’s expression becomes visibly more frustrated at the closeness. “didn’t expect to see you here,” luffy chuckles, arm tightening around law’s larger figure. law tries his hardest to distance himself, face as far away from luffy’s as physically possible as luffy pats his back aggressively. “well, whatever the reason,” luffy starts. “no-“ law attempts, but luffy interrupts . “lets’s have dinner!, sanji, food!” luffy cheers disregarding any protests from the irate captain. you hear a grumble from sanji before the kitchen door is slammed shut.
with the help of franky’s craftsmanship both your crew and the heart pirates gather around a large table for dinner. once sanji places both silverware and the dishes on the table, the heaps of food follow. as always it looks delicious, a colossal pile of linguini sits in a bowl along with various seafoods mixed inside. you lick your lips as this is your all time favorite dish, especially when prepared by your talented boyfriend.
luffy immediately stretches an arm,, grabbing the bowl and shoveling pasta onto his plate, leaving the rest of you to eye the bread on your otherwise empty plates. luffy is interrupted by a kick on the head by sanji, “leave some for the rest shithead,” he growls before snatching the bowl away and placing it back at the center of the table. luffy frowns, but soon forgets his agitation while he shovels the food he did manage to grab into his mouth.
you peer in front of you, law sits directly across the table, his eye twitches irritatedly as he awaits his turn. you can’t help but stare at the captain. you’d be lying if you said you didn’t find him attractive, and although you have a boyfriend, it’s not like you would ever cheat. plus with sanji’s antics you find no harm in looking. “y/n-ya,” your daze is broken as law glares at you, offering you the dish of pasta. you freeze, your breath hitching in your throat as you observe the way his tattooed fingers grip the porcelain. his icy eyes bore into yours as you reach a shaky hands up for the bowl, but you jump as it’s seized from his grasp.
“let me,” sanji smiles. he scoops you a helping, before treating himself. “thank you baby,” you whisper before digging into your food. your eyes roll back at the flavor, nothing could ever compare to sanji’s cooking. the entire table is filled with only the sounds of chewing as everybody savors the meal in front of them. luffy wastes no time in grabbing seconds then thirds as everybody continues working on their first course. you finish your meal quickly, taking a small sip of water as you sit back in your chair. again, you focus your attention on law as he chews his meal. your eyes close in on his lips as he licks them clean after a bite. you feel a hand rest on your thigh and lightly squeeze, but you pay no mind as you continue to watch as he finishes his serving, leaving only the piece of bread in its wake.
you hear the flick of sanji’s lighter beside you. he inhales the smoke from his cigarette and exhales it in front of him, letting the smoke cloud around law. “you gonna eat that?” sanji questions, pointing a finger at laws plate. law gazes up and makes eye contact with your boyfriend, “i don’t like bread,” he responds matter of factly before sipping the glass of water in front of him. sanji slams his hand on the table angrily, “i don’t give a shit,” he snaps, “you won’t waste food on this ship.” everybody falls silent around you as sanji’s eyes narrow. “i’ll take-“ luffy starts.
“no!” sanji yells slapping luffy’s outstretched arm, “he’s gonna eat it!” you reach your hand up and tug sanji’s arm, causing him to sit back in his chair. he doesn’t break his fiery gaze as you rise, snatching the bread off of law’s plate and eating it. “y/n,” sanji starts, disappointment laced in his voice, but he falls silent as you finish it. “see babe, no big deal,” you smile as you sit back in your chair. sanji takes a drag of his cigarette before aggressively putting it out on the ashtray besides him. “i guess not,” he says blankly, face expressionless. law breaks his gaze from sanji, rolling his eyes before speaking,,“thanks y/n-ya.” you feel heat rush to your cheeks, “no problem.”
dinner ends awkwardly, and everybody gathers on the deck. brook plays a tune on his violin as most dance and drink away. zoro sits alone, watching and smiling as he takes a sip from his sake. luffy, usopp, chopper, and franky dance away along with bepo, penguin, and sachi. robin and nami stand beside you as you sip on glasses of red wine. they converse, trying to get your attention, but it’s futile, your attention is once again trained on the captain of the heart pirates. he stands across the deck, leaning over the rail, long legs crossed as he peers up at the star filled sky.
your legs act before your mind does, as you don’t even bother to excuse yourself from the girls, and walk towards him. you approach him quietly, sipping from your glass. he turns to you briefly, before training his gaze back up to the sky. “i’m sorry about dinner,” you break the silence, “sanji can be a hot head sometimes, but he means well,” you smile. he merely hums in agreement, not tearing his eyes away from the view above.
you feel a pair of hands rest on your hips, before you’re turned around softly. sanji stands before you, his head leans down towards your level, “darling,” he smiles kindly, “i hate to ask, but i may need some help in the kitchen.” he presses a kiss into your forehead. you mirror his expression, “i thought i’d never see the day you ask for help,” you chuckle as he releases his grip on you. you follow sanji as he paces to the kitchen, oddly enough he doesn’t hold your hand as he usually does. you play it off as him being stressed. he does have to clean up after more than double the people as usual.
he holds the door open for you as you enter. you halt and raise an eyebrow at the sight. the kitchen seems spotless, the table has no signs of previous use, there aren’t any dishes in the sink, and the counters are spotless. you open your mouth to question why he asked for help, but the sound of the door locking causes you to freeze.
you squeal as you’re lifted off the ground and swung over sanji’s shoulder. he marches down the hallway and into your shared bedroom before kicking the door shut so hard it almost fly’s off of its hinges. he softly rests you on the bed before hovering above you. he inhales his cigarette, flicking it to the floor and stomping it out beneath him before loosening his tie. you gawk as he leans over you, arms resting on either side of your head as he cages you in.
“why?” he questions, hurt apparent in his eyes. you furrow your eyebrows, completely oblivious to what he was talking about. “huh?” you respond, gripping his forearm reassuringly. “don’t be so naive,” he starts, “you’ve been staring at him all night. am i not enough?” he grits his teeth. sanji practically seethes with anger above you as the heat from his body radiates onto yours. “i-.” he shakes his head, cutting you off, “don’t try to downplay it. this isn’t the first time this has happened.” you start to feel guilty, you didn’t expect sanji to pick up on your actions, but he clearly noticed, and it obviously hurts him.
“sanji, baby no,” you start, cradling his face in your hands, “you are enough, i love you so much i would never.” you press a kiss into his forehead and you can feel his tense body relax under your touch. his face closes in on yours as he presses his lips onto yours.
your muscles previously taught, loosen beneath him as he tenderly kisses you. his lips cradle yours with admiration before he swipes his tongue past onto your lower lip. you part your mouth, granting his offering, mewling underneath him. his arm reaches for your leg, wrapping it around his torso, leaving no space between your bodies. you reach your hands up to his hair, your fingers tangle in his locks, as your tongues continue to fight for dominance.
you gasp as his mouth leaves yours, immediately latching onto your exposed collar bones, nipping and sucking at the soft flesh. your leg tightens around his back, hands balling into fists as he grinds down onto you. you can feel him through his slacks, he’s warm and rock hard. “mine,” he growls, warm and wet tongue drawing a line from your collar bones up to your throat. “all mine,” he wraps his mouth around the skin, sinking his teeth in softly as he sucks hard, surely leaving a mark.
your body contracts, “that feel good?” he questions. you nod, lifting your hips to meet his as he repeatedly and slowly dry humps you into the mattress. his lips leave your neck and he cranes his head up to look at you. you audibly moan at the way he stares at you. the smallest rim of ocean blue surround the black of his blown pupils. his eyes reveal his emotions which are ones of lust, passion, and jealousy.
he remains his eye contact as one of his hands slips past the hem of your shirt. he torturously slides his large hands up the expanse of your torso, starting at your hip, reaching your lower stomach, up your ribs, and landing on your bare breast. you hiss at the contact, the icy metal of his rings immediately stimulate your nipple, causing it to harden. his other hand follows , wasting no time to palm at your other breast. the tips of his fingers dance over your other hardened nub, refusing to give you what you want as he lightly flicks back and forth.
you’re pliable underneath him, squirming and whining at every feathery touch he gives you. he rarely teases you in this way, always giving you exactly what you want without asking. sanji has one rule and that is that he lives to serve you. however, that unwritten rule is tossed aside as he lets you crumble underneath him, patiently waiting for you to ask, to beg for it.
the sensation of your juices flowing freely down your thighs puts you in a slight discomfort, but theres not much you can nor are willing to do. your mind clouds as he brings your nipples between his fingers, just barely tugging at the sensitive flesh, eliciting a strained moan from the depths of your chest. at this point you can’t handle his teasing, the faint whispers of his touch aren’t enough, you crave something more. “sanji,” you mewl, your tongue swiping the cracked skin of your bottom lip, “please touch me.” at your words he slowly removes his hands out from underneath your shirt, leaving a trail of goosebumps as the warmth of his flesh is replaced with the frigid night air.  he brings a hand up to your head, patting your disheveled hair from your face, before trailing his thumb down your jawline. he slows his movements upon reaching your chin, before trailing up and letting his thumb tug on your bottom lip.
you freeze as his eyes scan your face, he’s searching for any signs of apprehension, to which there were none. you couldn’t be any more enthralled with the man leaning above you. nothing and nobody could compare to the immense joy and comfort he brings you. nothing could compare to the tingly feeling you get when he holds you, letting you rest your head on his chest as he sleeps peacefully beside you night after night. and nothing could compare to the way he satisfies you both mentally and physically, nobody could make you feel the way that he does. and although he’s aware of this, your actions previously in the day have him questioning it all, so he makes it his mission to remind you. to remind you that you’re his and he’s yours.
you reach for his hands, interlacing your fingers with his, but are struck with a twinge of hurt when he stands up, slowly releasing your grip and letting your arms bounce back on the mattress. he continues holding eye contact, unreadable expression painting his features as he hovers over you. after what seems like hours, he lowers his gaze onto himself. he shrugs his suit jacket off, before untying his tie. he paces slowly over to the nearby desk, back turned to you he folds both pieces of clothing before placing neatly them down. he starts working on the buttons of his shirt, intricately popping each open before peeling the blue dress shirt off, placing it on top of the small pile.
you clench around nothing at the sight of his back, lean muscles of his biceps and deltoids ripple as he puts his hands in his pockets. he turns back towards you, silently eyeing you as he approaches. he resumes his position, leaning back over you, and this time you wrap both legs around him tightly, scared to let go. “my love,” he whispers, reaching down to pull your shirt over your head, freeing your breasts with a soft bounce. “let me remind you,” he tugs off your skirt, tossing it on the desk. “let me remind you how good i make you feel.”
any response you could come up with falls flat, your mind focuses on the hungry actions of your boyfriend who’s now positioned between your legs, kissing up and down the inners of your thighs. you attempt to squirm, but his firm grip holding your legs to the bed prevent any sort of movement. he licks a stripe up your left thigh, then right one, allowing himself to lick past your outer labia, but not where you need him the most. you’re sure he can see how much you crave him, there’s no way he can miss the way your slick seeps through the thin fabric of your panties, and coats your trembling thighs.
his teasing halts, as he licks one last stripe, this time letting his tongue glide up your center and pressing a soft kiss to your clit. he releases his grip on your thighs, running his hands up your hot flesh and hooking his fingers around your panties, slowly pulling them down as he looks up at you. he stuffs your underwear in his trouser pocket, saving it for later, wasting no more time to dive into your sex.
whimpers leave your parted mouth as he slowly licks up and down, making sure to flick his tongue against your clit every chance he gets. he groans into your cunt, the taste and aroma affecting him greatly as his cock twitches, beads of precum soaking his boxers. the vibration from his mouth reverberates through your pussy, causing fire to erupt throughout your entire being, and settling in your lower stomach.
his lips latch to your clit, pressing soft kisses paired with kitten licks in between, causing you to loose composure as your hips buck up into his mouth. sanji would take this over receiving any day. the way your flushed face contorts in utter pleasure is more than enough for him to get off to. not to mention the way you tremble, one hand clawing at the sheets as the other toys with your nipples it a sight to behold. he prefers it this way, after all theres nothing better than a satisfied lady.
you feel his finger prod at your entrance, his movements on your clit never seizing as he sinks his finger into you with ease. you whine as he tests the waters, steadily pumping in and out of you as to let you get used to the feeling.
your core is boiling as he pumps his large finger in and out of you, hooking it up to hit your g spot each time. you’re already close, sanji knows your body better than his own. he’s studied any and all reactions you give him, keeping mental notes of what makes you feel good and what doesn’t. his expertise shows as he removes his finger from your entrance, his lips pressing one last kiss onto your clit before he grabs you by the hips, flipping you over on your stomach.
you cry out as he reinserts his finger, reassuming his previous pace while his tongue finds your clit once again. you sit up on your knees, back arching as he eats you out from behind. drool soaks your sheets, fingers twitching, and legs shaking as he works up his pace, rapidly licking you clean, and inserting another finger inside you.
“sanji,” you whine, your body starts convulsing, muscles twitching as he pulls your orgasm from deep within you. he only hums as a response, never daring to stop his actions in fear that your high will be ripped away. the rumble of his voice causes you to let go, mewling and crying as your orgasm overtakes your body. you come undone on his face, and although he tries to savor every last drop, your juices coat his beard and drip down his chin. you pant feverishly, arms working their absolute hardest to keep you upright as he laps you with his tongue.
he wraps his arms around your stomach, gently helping you lay down before kissing your shoulder tenderly. your hear the metal of his zipper slide down from behind you, the rustling of fabric follows before you feel his length rub your core. “you ready darling?,” he questions as he coats himself with your juices, shuddering at the warm feeling. you merely nod and whisper a small “yes please,” and he takes that as his cue to enter you.
he slowly grinds into you, stretching you to capacity as he bottoms out. he fucks you slow and deep, making you whimper every time his tip kisses your cervix. “my god,” he groans gripping the fat of your hips for leverage, “it’s like you’re made for me.” you struggle to respond, too lost by the fire that fills your body with each roll of his hips. his fingers dig into your plush skin, he grips you as if you’re about to melt away through his palms.
to your surprise he picks up the pace, his hips speedily pounding you, the rough sounds of skin slapping satisfy him to the fullest. sanji isn’t the type to fuck hard and fast, he usually savors the moment for the longest he can, but you have awakened something inside of him. he wants you teary eyed, screaming his name for everybody to hear. he needs everybody to know you’re his, especially that emo fuck.
and to his utmost pleasure, your whimpers turn into loud wails. shouts of his name leave your mouth, his cock churns your insides in the best way possible. “that’s right,” sanji smirks, arms snaking around your chest, bringing your back flush with his chest. his lips hover over your ear, causing shivers to traverse down your spine. “need to hear you, need to hear how good i make you feel,” he bites down on the shell of your ear, soft hands grip your breasts and tug your nipples through the tips of his fingers. “let everybody hear, don’t hold back.”
chants of his name are followed with profanity are spewed from your mouth as you try to cope with the immense pleasure he gives you. a loud knock on your door almost distracts you as you snap your head in it’s direction, but that doesn’t stop sanji. he can’t stop even if he tried, the way you suck him in leaves him pussy drunk, completely intoxicated by the spell you have him under.
“gonna cum baby,” he grunts, his hips sputter as he jackhammers you. “want it inside, please,” you beg arm reaching up to his head, pulling it in the crook of your neck. sweat drips down both your bodies before you hear a loud hiss come from your boyfriend. with one last deep thrust, he keeps it in, filling you with his seed. the warm feeling of his cum coating your insides drives you insane, but also brings a new sense of closeness. his cock twitches as rope after rope of cum is pumped inside of you, his body pulsates as small whimpers leave his lips.
you both gasp for air, his arm still tightly wrapped around you as he nuzzles his head into your hair. you cherish the moment as the seconds tick by. your sticky bodies in their most vulnerable state are glued together, the humid air surrounding was not only proof of what just happened, but a reminder of the passion you share for each other.
he moves your hair off your shoulder, kissing the exposed skin, “i’m sorry,” he whispers a small apology nuzzling himself into your back. you part your lips to speak, but are cut off, “i just can’t stand the thought of you… being with someone else. you are my world.” he finishes, voice cracking at the end of his sentence.
droplets of warm tears flow down his cheeks, dropping on your back and slowly sliding down. you muster up all your remaining strength, turning to face him. “hey,” you soothe, thumbs wiping the tears from his watery eyes, “you’re my world, i never want to picture a day where you aren’t mine. i love you sanji and only you.”
he sniffles, wide eyes meeting yours, “promise?” you lean in, kissing him softly on the forehead, “promise.”

Tumblr media
One of the most frequent things you've heard over the past few years was praise for your older brothers.
Typically it would go along the lines of; "Oh, Quinn made captain, you must be so proud!", "Jack and Luke are looking incredible lately, you must be so excited for them!", "Your brothers' are killing it right now, you're so lucky to be related to them!"
Most times you didn't feel very lucky.
That sounds rather harsh, upon reflection. The unmovable truth was that you loved your brothers more than life. They were pivotal parts of your making; indestructible forces ready to care for you and protect you through anything, big or small. They were willing to combat anything to ensure that your smile remained on your face at any given time. They were your older brothers and you couldn't even begin to imagine a world in which they didn't exist, in which they didn't tease, mock and love you.
But sometimes, you just wished people could find it within themselves to separate you from them when the time called for it. Another recurrent theme you've noticed over the last couple of years was that any achievement you made, whether it be academic or simply lying elsewhere, had a tendency to be accidentally overshadowed or overlooked by so many people in your life.
Your Mom and Dad tried their hardest to ensure you the importance of your hard work but sometimes, just sometimes, you had a horrible suspicion that perhaps their support was just out of pity. You were different from your family, everyone knew it and you embraced it. You were the only one out of the entire family to not play hockey beyond your childhood and despite being the youngest, you'd watched your older brothers, even Luke, who was only a year senior, falling even more deeply and madly in love with the sport. You, however, had stepped out onto the ice for the first time as a fresh-faced four-year-old and knew almost instantly that it wasn't the sport for you, but you'd never voiced that feeling until you were eleven.
You could remember that day so vividly, the day when you'd let it slip that you didn't want to play anymore. At the time it had been the most terrifying thing you'd ever thought of doing.
EIGHT YEARS AGO
It was dinner time in the Hughes household and all four kids had jolted at the sound of their parents calling them for dinner. Jack had led the pack in a stampede down the stairs, his fourteen-year-old legs bounding forward to win a race only he was participating in. Twelve-year-old Luke had followed suit, racing towards the dining table, not in competition, but in what he would describe as "starvation like that one ad on TV talked about". Quinn, at sixteen, had long decided he was far more responsible than his younger counterparts and walked down the stairs just a little behind the rowdy pair ahead.
You, at eleven, moved much slower than all of your brothers. You'd had a hockey match that morning in which you'd ended up crashing headfirst into the boards. It hadn't hurt, not with the helmet on your head, but it had been the last straw. Tonight was the night. The night you were going to finally tell your parents that hockey wasn't for you. That the sport was enjoyable but only if you were watching from the sidelines.
Your hands were trembling, your teeth biting down hard on your lip, so hard you thought it might burst any second. You couldn't find it within yourself to stop. It soothed the nerves that had begun to build. Your family loved hockey, they breathed it. You wouldn't be surprised if they all ran tactics and strategy in their dreams.
You walked into the dining room with your shoulders hunched and head bowed as you made your way towards your usual seat between Quinn and Luke. If your brothers had noticed your odd behaviour all day, they hadn't voiced it. You kind of wished they would just so it would get the ball rolling.
Dinner was laid out in front of you almost tauntingly. Tonight's dish was pasta, ever so conveniently shaped in the various shapes of a hockey stick, a helmet, and a skate. Your brothers grinned at the shape of the food, whilst your mom and dad laughed in amusement.
"I found them earlier down in the shop," Ellen Hughes beamed, as she looked amongst her children. "Thought they might make dinner interesting!"
"It does, Mom," Jack grinned in approval as he shovelled a forkful of it into his mouth. You had yet to even pick up your utensil, you just stared at your dish in silence.
"Y/N, honey, is your head hurting from earlier?"
Your mom's voice almost made your straight face slip. You lifted your gaze slightly letting it fall on your mother's worried yet comforting eyes. You opened your mouth slightly but words failed you. You resorted to just shaking your head before looking down.
"Why would her head be hurting?" Quinn questioned defensively, as he looked between you and Mom. You hunched your shoulders further into yourself as the attention on you was now a lasting event.
"She hit the boards earlier, head on," Jim Hughes supplied, swallowing his mouthful of food. He had had the day off and jumped to accompany her to the game. "Hard enough too, but the little soldier got right back up."
You hadn't.
You had laid there for a solid fifty-four seconds brimming with brewing hatred.
"You hit the boards?" Luke snorted, his teasing eyes on your small figure. This was regular joking for the family. They would all mess around and laugh about things that went wrong with anyone, it wasn't out of the ordinary, but tonight?
Oh, tonight this teasing was just piling onto your problem.
"Someone tried to take the puck," Your dad continued mindless of the storm generating inside of you. "It clicked almost immediately for her though and she passed the puck perfectly. All she did was just miscalculate the distance between her standing and the board's closeness, and even then she was fantastic."
Your dad's words should've been comforting. Usually, you would burn with bashfulness at the praise. Your brothers snickered at the image they created of you falling into the boards and before you knew it you could barely hear them. All you could hear was white noise whereas all you could see was vibrant and hot red when you looked down at your plate.
"Sweetheart, when's your next game?" Your mom's kind voice broke through the noise, as she picked up some more food with her fork.
"IWANNAQUITHOCKEY!" You suddenly burst out, causing your family to jump at the volume of your words. Your heart was beating frantically, your hands wringing on your lap. You looked guiltily towards your mom and dad with a nervous gulp.
"Wha' dif' fou 'ay?" Luke asked through a mouth full of pasta, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. For you, the heat in the room rose and engulfed you in fiery waves of nerves as you glanced between your brothers and your parents.
"I want to quit hockey..."
PRESENT DAY
You had remembered the silence that had followed. Your parents ahead exchanged a look as they set down their forks and asked you to explain why. Once you'd begun explaining, you'd burst into tears, all of the pent-up stress and years of pushing yourself to fall in love with the sport only to fail came spilling out.
Your parents had jumped into action at your tearful display and granted the boys permission to finish their dinner in front of the TV in the living room. Once they'd left, your parents had sat down on the empty chairs beside you and immediately began to try to calm you with soothing arm and hair strokes and whispers of "c'mon, steady breaths now, you're okay".
You had continued to sob as you explained all of your feelings over the years. You had even admitted in your bleary state that you were scared your parents wouldn't like you anymore because you didn't like hockey. You had remembered the heartbroken look they'd both given you as they doubtlessly reassured you that no matter what you chose to do at any stage in life, they would forever love you. Your mom had cradled you in her arms, whilst your dad had continued to run his hand through your hair as you tried to calm yourself down.
And so, you stopped playing hockey while your brothers only flourished and fell deeper into the depths of adoration for it.
As the years passed your love and knack for academics— notably English and history, encompassed your life and filled you with everything you've ever craved. You threw yourself into your studies, your spare time spent reading books from the library or curled up watching too many David Attenborough nature documentaries for your family's liking.
You thrived in high school managing to maintain a 4.0 GPA. You worked various jobs over the years, from stacking shelves in the local library to making and serving coffee in a cafe near your home. Your mom had once teased that if you hadn't worked and kept out of the house you would've studied yourself to death.
By the time you were a senior, Luke, Jack and Quinn had all been drafted to the NHL and you couldn't have been prouder. You had attended all of their drafts, excitement rolling off of you as you clutched your brothers in such tight hugs they thought they might never breathe quite right again. You were overjoyed that they were able to translate their passion for hockey into the skills needed to succeed and to watch their happiness thrive only made it all the better.
Everything ran so smoothly...that is until people couldn't disassociate you from your brothers. You were thrown into the deep end once all three of your brothers had been picked in the draft. You had been the victim of fake friendships, relationships, and people, in general, trying to be close to you in order to be any inch closer to the famed Hughes boys. Towards the end of high school, their looming presence in almost every conversation agitated you.
It was as if they were the sun, blazing and vital to so many aspects of life. Whereas, you, on the other hand, felt like Pluto in their solar system, small, insignificant and not even important enough to remain a planet.
Nevertheless, you had what you loved within your grasp, it didn't matter what you were in regards to their standings, your talents lay elsewhere and there was no denying it.
You had graduated as Valedictorian with your parents watching proudly in the stands. Quinn had also been there, a pleasant surprise on your half considering he had played a game late the night before. Yet he'd flown home for you, to watch you walk the stage and you had almost giggled in glee. As Luke and Jack on the flip side, had a game the day of your graduation and couldn't miss it. You had reassured them that it was alright (no matter how disappointed and upset it actually made you feel).
After the ceremony, with your diploma in hand, you'd walked towards the stands, your eyes scanning for your parents and brother amongst the buzzing crowds. Conversations swirled with laughter and yelps as students reunited with their families and friends.
"You know that girl–the valedictorian? She's the one whose brothers play for the NHL,"
Your ears had instantaneously perked at the mention, and a heavy, unsettling pit began to form as unease churned in your stomach. You had faltered in your tracks at the words, your ears straining to listen for any other snippets of the conversation.
"Oh, the valedictorian! I thought I saw Quinn Hughes up in the stands, I thought it was my imagination."
Disappointment and what could only be embarrassment had crashed over her as you listened to the conversation continue. They hadn't been able to even remember your name despite it being mentioned more than a few times on the stage, yet of course, they knew your brother, who was one of hundreds in the crowd.
A sudden bout of envy had gripped your heart as you tried to blink away welling tears. This had been your day. Your day. You hadn't worked so hard to be forgotten so easily.
"Angel!" your delighted, yet teary-eyed mom had pushed through the crowd to engulf you in a massive hug. "My baby is all grown up!" You had plastered a smile on your face as you wrapped your arms around her to hold her close.
Your dad was next to be hugged, his big hand had ruffled your hair as he bore a wonky smile and cracked voice whilst telling you how proud he was.
And finally, Quinn had squeezed you to death, his tight grip holding you as he practically spun you around, your feet brushing the floor. You had let a laugh break your moping, as you clutched at your eldest brother's shoulders.
"Your speech was incredible," he mumbled from above you, as your head rested against his shoulder. "I had Luke and Jack on FaceTime the entire time."
You felt your cheeks grow warm as you tried to hide your sheepish smile. As you swivelled your head, however, you had spotted not one but three separate people with phones pointed towards you and your brother. Your smile had instantly dropped and you wiggled in his grip until he'd let go, his eyebrows furrowed as you tried to change the topic of conversation.
And just like that the excitement of the day had dimmed.
You loved your brothers but they would always be gods in everyone's eyes. But you'd only ever amount to an Angel— touched by divinity, loved by so many but never quite good enough and absolutely never equal to the power of gods.
The day of your graduation had only been evidence of such. You'd never be able to escape the shadows of your brothers no matter how hard you worked, no matter how much you yearned to.
That summer, you fell into a slump of sorts. Your usual cheery smiles and bright eyes had been dulled. You weren't outwardly rude or dismissive but you talked less, participated in family activities less, finding excuses left, right and centre to avoid socialising. Your stack of books that usually were reread every summer lay untouched, covered in a very thin layer of dust. Your family had noticed your change as soon as the slump had started.
They just thought it would go away within a week or so.
Mom had spoken to you too many times to count asking if you were alright and if she could help with anything, you'd simply waved your hand and denied that anything was wrong.
Your brothers had tried too.
Luke had tried to get you to play video games with him, play pool, go to the mall with him, yet you conveniently always had other plans to attend to. Jack had tried to get you to come to the country club and play golf with him, or at least sit in a golf cart reading so that he could talk away with you whilst he played and yet, you refused, claiming you weren't feeling well.
Avoiding Quinn had been the most difficult task. As the eldest and you the youngest, he always felt more protective over you than over your wild other brothers. With five years between each other, Quinn was the one you naturally leaned towards during any inconvenience. He'd been the first you'd called when you'd accidentally gotten drunk off of alcohol-spiked juice at seventeen and had panicked when you couldn't find your friends. He'd stayed on call until your mom had arrived and you were safely tucked inside her car. He'd been the one you'd run to when you were little and had nightmares, and he'd let you bury yourself in his bed covers beside him, with mumbled words of comfort as you shook. He'd been the one who'd refused to leave your side when you'd been bedbound with a bad case of the flu when you were nine, reading stories to you and keeping you company in the solitude of sickness.
He'd been the one you'd tried your hardest to not spend time around because you knew that if he went digging into your out-of-character behaviour, you would break and spill everything in seconds.
Since hockey was in the off-season, you'd seen your brothers more often than not. They'd spent the last month in the same house as you and your parents, it was getting harder and harder for you to continually bypass all of their offers to hang out.
A sudden knock on your bedroom door caused your head to snap towards the door where Luke had sheepishly stuck his head in through the door's gap. You shuffled in your spot underneath the blanket you'd surrounded yourself in as you had curled up on your bed, despite the warmth of the outside air.
"Mom said dinner is on the table," he yawned, before pushing your door open for you to follow and disappearing from the door. You stretched out your limbs, placing your book on your bedside table as you unfurled. Your tired eyes blinked slowly whilst you forced your body to trek downstairs.
Everyone's eyes seemed to follow you as you silently entered the room, not that you noticed as you slunk towards your seat and slumped down into the wooden chair with your head down. You stared blankly at the plate before you looked towards your mom and forced a small smile.
"It looks good, Mom, thanks," you nodded towards your mom before looking back at your plate. Your fingers twirled the fork around as you began to eat slowly. Noticing the growth of an uncomfortable silence, you raised your eyes, only to meet your entire family's gaze. "...what?"
"Y/N, angel, we need to talk," your mom began soothingly, glancing towards your dad almost nervously. Your eyebrows furrowed as you placed your fork down, your hands dropping to your lap.
"About...what exactly?"
"Y/N, what's going on with you?" Your dad suddenly asked, causing your mom to carefully nudge him. "You've been distant, and locking yourself up in your room for the summer."
"I haven't been distant," you denied, pushing yourself further back into the comfort of your seat. You could feel your brothers' eyes piercing you from where they sat.
"That's a lie," Jack scoffed as he swallowed a forkful of food. You shot him a blazing look, your eyes narrowed and as sharp as knives.
"You're not yourself, Y/N," Quinn added cautiously, his eyes flitting around your face to try to gauge your emotions. "You've been making excuses all summer not to spend time with any of us. We miss you, Y/N and...we want to help you, you just gotta let us know what's wrong."
You looked down at your hands as you bit down on your lip to suppress the trembling that threatened to wrack through your body. Luke glanced down at his plate before he leaned forward towards you.
"Y/N, we can help you now, we have the time, hockey doesn't start—"
Don't," your voice seemed unfamiliar to even yourself as iciness weaved its way into your words. "Not now."
"What do you mean?" Luke retorted as he scrunched his eyebrows in bewilderment. "All I said was—"
"Everything has to revolve around hockey." You hadn't meant for the dam to burst and release the waves of frustration and upset but there was no stopping the course it was now paving. "It always has been and always probably will. Every dinner conversation starts the same, every text, every call and I understand why...But life isn't all about hockey."
"I don't..." Luke shook his head and looked towards his brothers for support. His softened and baffled voice filled your heart with a tinge of guilt, but your heart wasn't in control of your words, your mind's bitterness was the one with the reins. "I don't get why that's a problem..?"
"Because you don't realise how out of place it puts me." Your eyes burned with the vicious sting of unshed tears as you began to fall and stumble into a panicked ramble. "And I know I've never said anything about it, but do you know how much of a black sheep I feel like? I mean I chose to give up hockey, I chose to focus my mind elsewhere, so it really has nothing to do with you guys; but when it's constant hockey talk?... I have nothing to say. I have nothing to add, and I feel boxed in...I feel wrong, as if I was some faulty add-on you got landed with."
"You are not faulty, Y/N!" Your mom cut in sharply, her eyes now tinged with sadness.
"Two hundred and three," You bypassed your mom's saddened gaze as you focused on your brothers.
“What?" Jack shrivelled his nose as you spoke.
"Two hundred and three games, ceremonies, and hockey-related events I have attended in order to support you." You explain, whilst your eyes darted from brother to brother. "To support all of you and those are only the ones I can remember."
"Y/N, angel…”
Your dad's calming attempt to soothe you permeated your ramble and only filled you with an indescribable rage.
Always "angel".
Always a goddamn angel.
"Six." You continued, your fists clenched so tightly that the bite of your fingernails embedded deep into your palms. "Six times in my life, you three have managed to make it to an event of mine or ceremony. It goes down to two if you only include events, where all three of you were in attendance."
"The truth is no matter how much I convince myself I'm not an outsider, no matter how much I succeed in life and have every glory at my fingertips, it'll never be enough. No matter the circumstances, people will always find a way to undermine my success to boast about yours. How unfair is that?”
The tears, now unstoppable, rolled down your heated cheeks, leaving a wet trail as your family watched and listened to your cracking voice.
"Every big milestone in my life people twisted it to frame you guys in the foreground. All I wanted was to be great– be so great that, for once, people could separate me from a crowd without it being about my brothers. For years, I got the highest grades, worked locally, tutored, volunteered, and yet my only legacy will be that I have three older brothers whom, to everyone else, I will never measure up to."
"So, after years of trying to ignore the truth and deny it, I realised that there's no possible way I'll ever amount to the Hughes name, I'll never be great and I'll never be able to be like you. And it's...it's a terrifying thought to know you were intended for greatness but destined to fail."
Your tears blurred your vision as a heavy stillness settled over the Hughes family dinner table. Another second passed before regret crashed into your very being and settled amongst the chaos. Your hand flew to your mouth once you'd finished talking, the complete reality of what had happened hitting you full force as your body shook in adrenaline.
"I...I'm," Your horrified eyes scanned the table before you jumped to your feet. "I'm sorry...I'm really...the food was really good, Mom, but I'm, uh...not really hungry anymore." And before anyone could protest you scrambled out of the room, leaving your family to watch you flee.
Anyway, let me know what you think…also part 2 might be coming 🙏

Hockey Player!Azriel x Reader
Summary: Azriel can't keep his hands to himself. A modern hockey AU.
Warnings: Fighting
Word Count: 970 (lol i wish it was way longer)
Notes: Welcome to the Hockey AU 😏
_________________________________________
You’ll never understand how your boyfriend gets into so many fights, but here you are again, watching him pummel another player into the ice.
The crowd screams wildly around you so loudly it’s nearly deafening. There’s a chill to the air only the ice emits, the rest of the atmosphere is filled with the heat of bodies, stench of beer and stadium popcorn, and a little bit like body odor. The mostly male fans around you clutch their drinks in their hands as they throw their arms up, egging on the brawl in the rink. You’re sure if you were sitting closer, you might be able to smell the blood splattering the pristine, white ice.
“Come on, Azriel,” you mutter, wringing your fingers together. It’s said a little in disappointment and a lot in encouragement. It’s tough to watch; a player on the Springview Wolves had checked him into the glass. It hadn’t been a nice check either, all but shoving Azriel’s face into the boards. His eyes had gone dark in a millisecond, spinning on his skate and chucking his stick to the ground, his gloves following.
The player had already turned away—Warrick, number 22, the back of his jersey reads—when Az had spun around to give him a taste of his own medicine, and the hit looked dirty on your boyfriend's side because of it, hitting a player who seemed unassuming. Tamlin, number 22’s name is, you know this because Azriel and a few of his teammates had been complaining about the blond haired player all week, saying how the coach only puts him in to start fights, the rest of the time he’s usually a duster, collecting cobwebs on the bench.
Gods, you hope Azriel doesn’t lose any teeth this time.
The pair seem to mostly be wrestling right now, trying to keep their balance as their skates slide against the slick ice and the referees try to tear them apart. But once players start tussling, there’s no breaking them up until one of them hits the ice.
The benches of both teams are going crazy, shouting and hitting their sticks against the partitions. You think you saw the team captain of the Velaris Bats, Rhysand, trying to jump onto the ice to join, but the coach had held him back by the scruff of his uniform.
Cassian had already been on the ice, a winger like Azriel. The pair were nearly untouchable on the ice. It’s as if they had twin telepathy, always scoring points off of one another. He shucked his own gloves off and started a fight with another player for the hell of it, living up to his nickname ‘bloodshed.’ It looks like he’s taking on one of the Vanserra brothers, the younger, Lucien.
You don’t know what the hell their mother ate when she was pregnant with them, three of her seven sons in the NHL. Eris, the eldest, plays on the Auburn Foxes, while her second born, Pyrolas, has been with the Badgers. That is always a team you dread watching the Bats play. With the amount of fights Pyrolas starts and finishes, it’s a surprise the hot-headed player is still welcome on any team.
Azriel knocks one of Tamlin’s legs out from under him but his competitor doesn’t go down yet, keeping himself propped up on a knee. They’re punching wildly, hitting more helmets than skin, but crimson paints the ice from split knuckles.
You chew on your lip, praying that it ends soon. It’s gruesome, and now that Cassian has joined in, grinning feral with bloody teeth, other players have joined the fray. The referees are useless, and they can only watch the onslaught of Bats players fist-fighting with the Wolves.
The coaches are screaming their heads off from the benches, but there’s too much testosterone in the air for any of the players to hear, let alone take their threats seriously. You know Cassian’s going to be punished in practice for starting a team-wide brawl, and you hope Azriel won’t be added to that punishment.
Tamlin gets in a good hit to the face, cutting the bridge of Azriel’s nose on his helmet. You sigh sadly. You love his nose, all straight and perfect. Something low in your stomach twists, thinking about a scar cutting across the bridge of it.
Azriel retaliates not with words, but his fists. He tugs the back of Tamlin’s lavender jersey over his head and pummels him, hands moving so fast the blinded player can’t keep up. His fingers scrabble for purchase, clawing into Azriel’s black jersey, but it doesn’t seem to make the man falter at all.
Finally, Tamlin takes the fall, sliding the rest of the way to the ice. Azriel has his hand pressed to Warrick’s back, keeping him pressed to the ice, his left hand cocked, ready to deliver another blow should he need to.
A referee skates in, pulling your boyfriend away from the felled player. He ushers Azriel to the penalty box while someone else collects his stick and gloves. Miraculously, his helmet sits on his head, and he’s handed a towel to wipe the blood from his face and knuckles, and Azriel looks beyond pissed off.
Cassian’s ejected from the game, but it doesn’t look much like he cares, receiving pats on the back and friendly shoves from his teammates. He thrives on the bloodshed, Mother help whoever locks him down. They’ll be dealing with eternally busted knuckles and missing teeth.
The few minutes Azriel has to spend in the sin-bin are long, but at least you can take a moment to calm your racing heart, knowing he can’t start a fight while he’s in time-out for his actions.
The only thing you have to worry about is the remaining period after he gets out of it.

Tumblr media
It’s a nice day today.
The sun is shining, it’s getting warmer due to spring, there’s not a single hint of a breeze in the air, and everyone seems to be in a great mood. It’s amazing what the changing seasons do to people and their mood – yourself included.
You’re working on the project for your photography class while sitting on your jacket on the grass quad on campus. You’ve almost finished the introduction and made sure to note down the plans for the project as well as set up the whole layout. The need to be organized has taken over but you always see it as a good thing; it keeps you focused and it makes school work seem less overwhelming.
It’s peaceful here on the quad, the faint sound of other students talking and laughing fills the atmosphere around you. There’s even a guy playing the guitar not too far away from you.
It’s nice, you think to yourself as a small smile spreads across your lips.
Until it isn’t anymore.
The evil spawn, also known as Jeon Jungkook, suddenly appears in front of you and blocks the sun as he grins at you, looking cheerful and happy for some reason you don’t care to know about.
Your smile has now turned into a scowl as you stare at him, ignoring the fact that he’s once again holding two americanos in his hands, “is this gonna be a thing now?”
Jungkook nods instantly, not noticing or simply just ignoring the glare you shoot at him.
“Yeah, it’s a tradition now, ____ – I bring iced Americano and you bring your moody attitude and then we work on the project together,” he says, his grin now a smirk that you suddenly feel the urge to slap off his face.
God, why is he so persistent on doing this project with you? Why can’t he just leave you to do it on your own? Why can’t he go do what he usually does – being a fuckboy and play hockey – instead of bothering you with his presence?
You can’t help but scoff and roll your eyes at his words, choosing to ignore the comment he so casually dropped about you being ‘moody’.
“I can get my own iced americano, thank you very much,” you pointedly say.
“Oh, really? Where is it?” He asks, looking around on the grass surrounding you, “did you chug it?”
His quick retort circuits your brain as you’re left gaping at him. You then shake your head as if to clear your head and ask another question.
You’re not quite sure why you haven’t told him to leave yet…
“So what? Are you stalking me now?”
Jungkook snorts as you quirk an eyebrow at him in question, shooting you a look of amusement as he glances around at all the people surrounding you and him.
“____, you’re literally on the campus quad. Anyone with eyes in their head could find you here.”
You blink at him for a second, causing Jungkook to flash you a knowing smirk and offer you one of the beverages he so kindly brought along once again. You decide to ignore his smart retort and take the iced americano he’s holding out, instantly taking a sip and withholding the moan of satisfaction that was threatening to escape just now.
Jungkook huffs out a chuckle to himself as he sits down next to you and slips off his backpack, pulling out his laptop. You stare at him in bewilderment as if he has three heads when he sits down, wondering how he’s taking your hostility as an invite to sit down with you.
“Jungkook, what are you doing here?” You can’t help but ask, confused as to why he’s sitting here next to you for the second time within just two days.
“To work on the project?”
There’s a look of confusion on his face as he looks at you, eyebrows pulled together in question.
“No, seriously – I told you, I’m doing this project by myself. What are you really doing here?”
Jungkook’s face twists in slight annoyance at your determination to work on the project by yourself, “you’re not the only one who cares about their grades, you know?”
He doesn’t care about his grades – there’s just no way that a stereotypical jock like him could care about anything but frat parties, getting laid and his sport. Old Jungkook might’ve cared but this Jungkook right here? He hasn’t given a single fuck about anything but hockey and his image since he became the popular and hot hockey player.
“Are you saying that me doing the project on my own will give us a bad grade? If anything, you working with me on the project will make it even worse!”
The tone of your voice has turned defensive as you cross your arms over your chest and stare at him. Jungkook scoffs, a hint of amusement within the sound. If he’s offended by your words, he doesn’t show it. Why would he be? He doesn’t care what anyone thinks.
“Excuse me, I have a 94 in this class right now!”
You fall silent.
A score of 94%.
You can’t help but let out a laugh, wondering how he managed to score a 94 in photography when all he ever does with his spare time is hooking up with girls around campus or spending it in the hockey arena with his teammates.
“And how did you manage to do that? Did you flirt with Mrs. Kim or something?” You huff out a mocking chuckle.
Just for a split second, you swear you see a flicker of hurt flash across his eyes before it’s replaced by his usual smirk.
“And if I did?” He taunts.
Your eyes roll before you have a chance to stop them from doing so, causing Jungkook’s smirk to turn into an almost devilish grin.
“Wow, ____, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you were jealous.”
His words have you scowling at him – something you seem to do a lot when he’s anywhere near you. You then grab the iced coffee and take another sip, turning your attention back to your laptop screen, leaving Jungkook to sit next to you and work on the project in silence. You don’t say another word to him as you share the document with him so he can partake in the process.
His words affected you more than you wish they did because it was once the truth but if there’s anything you’ll never be again, it’s being jealous of something Jeon Jungkook does.

THE ICE BREAKER
Tumblr media
WARNINGS: extreme domination, mentions of alcohol consumption, etc. 18+ readers only
PAIRING(S): NHL hockey player!Rafe Cameron x Fem!Reader
SUMMARY: in which a night at the bar leads to a chance encounter.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: I think that this series will be my favorite one that I’ve created yet. I hope you angels enjoy part 1 for The Ice Breaker series!
The crowd leapt to its feet as Rafe Cameron soared into the Washington Capitals forward, sandwiching him between Rafe’s shoulder and the boards. The glass rocked and groaned above them. Rafe caught a glimpse of red jerseys beyond the glass before spinning and skating after the puck. The opposing player slumped to the ground, stunned but he gamely got to his feet again.
Instead of joining the scramble for the puck in the Capitals zone, the player headed for his bench. Rafe noted the absence of the forward with barely a glance, focusing his attention on clearing the zone. It was a frantic penalty kill and his heart was beating double time.
Here it comes, he thought as the frozen disc of rubber shot out from under his teammates' legs. With long strides, Rafe crossed the empty space. He swung his stick and lifted the puck into the air, sending it flying across the ice to the Capitals zone.
As he skated for the bench, Rafe glanced up at the big screen, grinning when he saw the last three seconds of the Capitals power play count down. Several of his teammates jumped over the boards, and the Carolina Hurricanes were back to full strength.
Rafe watched the action on ice as he reached for the water bottle, dousing his neck and then swallowing generous mouthfuls before setting it down again. There was another five minutes of play left in the second period and the Hurricanes and Capitals were tied with a goal apiece. The pace was furious, as it always was.
By the time the teams headed into their locker rooms for the second intermission, Rafe and the rest of the team felt confident.
"All right, everyone listen up!" The head coach barked as he walked into the room.
The intermission flew by and soon they were all heading back out to the ice. A quick glance at the large screen overhead told Rafe they had exactly ten minutes to figure it out. The Capitals were winning with a one point lead. Come on. Rafe slid his mask down into place again. One more goal, that's all they needed.
The game was harried for the last ten minutes, and there were scrambles at both ends. At long last, the buzzer sounded and it was over. Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, it wasn't their victory.
With a heavy sigh, Rafe skated off the ice with his team. In the locker room, the atmosphere was hushed. The guys on the team quietly went through the motions of changing, showering and packing their stuff up.
"Sorry we couldn't get it together in the end, man." Jordan Staal, sat down next to Rafe on the bus.
"Don't worry about it." Rafe didn't meet his teammate's eyes.
As the captain, he often felt responsible for the losses. His teammates, especially Jordan, did their best to get him to shake the disappointment and frustration following a loss.
"Come on, don't beat yourself up.” Jordan went on when he saw the frown on Rafe’s face. "It wasn't your fault."
Rafe merely shrugged. He knew he'd shake it off in time for the game but for now, he wanted to wallow in his mistake. It didn't take long for his teammates to pull him out of his funk. The bus ride to the airport was short and no one would let him just sit and rehash that game. Rafe was smiling as he boarded the plane with his teammates and laughing by the time he was buckled in.
Rafe never could stay serious and miserable over a loss for long. They had months before they needed to start panicking about a playoff spot. He shook off the last of his disappointment as the plane took off and he was in a better frame of mind in no time.
-
Rafe had been reluctant to go out with his teammates. In the end, Brent Burns convinced him that they needed a little stress relief after their loss to the Capitals the night before. They were back in North Carolina for a two week home stretch and he was glad for that at least. They didn't have another game until Sunday afternoon, so he had plenty of time to get over his disappointing loss in D.C.
"This place looks good.” Jordan suggested as they walked outside a stretch of restaurants and shops.
Rafe nodded and followed his teammates inside the bar. It was busy inside and most of the tables were taken. Luckily, as they walked further into the main room, a group of people were just leaving a table. Brent and Jordan headed right for it, claiming it before anyone else did. The other three followed close behind.
As Rafe took his coat off, he glanced around the busy bar. "I've never been here before."
The teammate on his left, Sebastian Aho, grinned. "It's a great place to meet chicks."
Rafe rolled his eyes as the other guys with them laughed. Along with Sebastian, Brent and Jordan, Derek Stepan had come out. Derek was the oldest out of the five of them, and married, but Rafe knew he liked to spend time with the team whenever he could. As for the rest of them, they were all single.
A waitress appeared at their table to take their drink orders. "What can I get for you guys?"
After she was gone again, the guys resumed their perusal of the bar.
"Busy tonight.” Derek commented as he relaxed back in his chair.
Rafe met his eyes with a smirk. Derek obviously wasn't on the lookout for a woman and took far too much enjoyment in watching the other guys scramble. Not that Rafe was the most active womanizer. He dated occasionally, but it was difficult to hold down a relationship while playing in the NHL.
The waitress returned to their table with their drinks and they clinked their bottles and glasses together in a salute. They fell into easy conversation, discussing the road games and their upcoming match-up against the Islanders on Sunday.
"There's a smokin' hot chick over in that booth.” Jordan said.
Brent turned his head to see where Jordan was looking. "Where?"
Rolling his eyes, Jordan shoved Brent’s shoulder. "Don't look so obvious, man. Jeez, no wonder you don't have a woman."
Rafe chuckled as he lifted his bottle of beer to his lips. He liked his teammates and enjoyed spending time with them. He just didn't understand their desire to date. Their careers didn't leave much time to woo a woman and if they did date, more often than not, the woman ended up feeling neglected by the players' constant absence. It was the few and the strong that stuck around long enough to marry a hockey player.
"She is cute.” Brent added. Rafe flicked his eyes to the his with a surprised glance. Brent met his gaze and shrugged. "What? She is."
"Cameron, come on.” Jordan scoffed. "Have a look. There, she's just standing up with one of her friends."
Rafe sighed, but turned his head to look. He saw a tall woman with long, light blonde hair and a shorter woman with short, brunette hair sliding out of a booth. Seated was a third woman, her face turned towards the table of hockey players.
Her eyes widened for a moment and she looked down, her lips moving as she spoke to her companions. Then, her friends disappeared into the crowd and Rafe listened as his teammates started talking again.
Except Rafe couldn't take his eyes off the woman left alone at the table. He was curious about why she'd remained at the table while her two companions left. She had her head bent over the table, barely looking up when the waitress stopped by to set a fresh drink down. Rafe could see her scribbling something and he smiled, wondering if she was writing on the table.
"Cameron? You with us, man?" Sebastian drew Rafe’s attention away from the lone woman in the booth.
Rafe looked back at his four companions. "What? Did I miss something?"
"Brent was suggesting a bet.” Jordan replied with an eye roll.
Rafe chuckled and downed the last of his beer. "A bet? Do I even want to know?"
It was Brent who answered. "Yes, because you're going to be in on it."
Rafe glanced again at the lonely woman in the booth before turning his focus to his teammates. "What's the bet?"
"That's the spirit!" Brent exclaimed and clapped Rafe on the shoulder. "Those two chicks went to the ladies room.” He said, jerking his chin in the direction of the booth.
"How do you know?" Rafe asked.
"I just know about these things. When they come back, they're going to come by our table."
Rafe shook his head and smiled. "I'm almost afraid to ask how you know that."
"I just do." Brent gave him a wide grin. "When they do, we're going to talk to them and one of us is going to go home with one of them."
Rafe’s eyebrows shot up almost to his hairline. "Are you serious? You want to make a bet on taking a woman home?"
"Why not? It's why we're here, isn't it?"
Derek held his hand up. "Uh, it's not why I'm here."
Brent shook his head at them. "You guys are so boring."
"Aren't you getting a little old for games like this, man?" Rafe asked as the waitress stopped by their table. They ordered another round of drinks.
"You're never too old.” Brent replied when the waitress was gone.
Rafe hadn't come out tonight with the intention of hooking up. That's not to say he wasn't willing if the opportunity presented itself. However, he wasn't about to make a bet just to create an opportunity. Unless it was the cute woman stopping by their table.
Rafe turned back around to look towards the booth. The woman was still there, still alone. She was no longer scribbling on her table, but she was frowning at something. Rafe made a decision.
"Well, if you guys are going to be making bets and keeping those women busy..." Rafe said as he slid off his chair. The waitress appeared just then with a tray of drinks. He thanked her and grabbed his beer. "I'm going to keep their friend company."
With that, he turned and walked towards the booth. Someone at his table whistled at him as he walked away and he grinned as he approached her.
"Excuse me?"
She looked over, distracted, and blinked in surprise to see someone standing there. "Yeah?"
"Do you mind if I sit down?" Rafe asked.
The woman's eyes flicked over the thick crowd before coming back to his face. "Uh, my friends are supposed to be back in a minute." Her tone was apologetic, which gave Rafe hope.
He glanced over his shoulder. "Are those your friends?" Rafe asked, gesturing with one hand at the tall blonde and shorter brunette standing with his four teammates.
The woman's eyes followed his hand and widened when she saw them. She laughed and shook her head. "Yeah, those are my friends."
Rafe looked back at her and grinned when he saw how her pretty smile changed her entire look. He'd thought she was cute before, but now she was even more attractive. She blinked as she met his gaze.
"I think they might be a while.” Rafe said. "My friend, Jordan can be very persuasive."
"Oh, yeah?" She lifted her eyebrows. "Should I go over there and warn my friends?"
Rafe shook his head. "No. My friend Derek, the older one there? He'll keep Jordan in line."
"Good to know."
Rafe met her eyes again, still grinning. "So, do you mind if I sit down?"
"Not at all. Looks like I have no one rushing to join me."
He slid into the bench across from her. "I can't imagine why not."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, an attractive woman like you wouldn't be sitting alone for long."
She laughed. "As you've just shown me, I suppose."
"I suppose I have." He slightly leaned forward. "Can I tell you a secret?"
Her eyes widened and Rafe took a moment to appreciate the way they sparkled. She had the thickest, darkest lashes he'd ever seen on a woman.
"I love secrets.” She murmured as she leaned forward as well.
"I just didn't want to listen to my friend, Jordan trip over himself to impress another woman.” Rafe said, nodding his head in the direction of his table.
Together, he and the woman looked over at his table. They both grinned when they saw the four teammates and two women looking back at them. They all lifted their drinks in a silent salute before Rafe and his new companion started laughing.
"I'm Rafe.” He said, stretching a hand towards her.
"Y/N." She shook his hand.
"What brings you and your friends here tonight?"
"It's sort of my friend's birthday celebration.” Y/N replied. "The taller one. She turned twenty-one this week.”
Rafe lifted his eyebrows and sipped his beer. "No big party to celebrate?"
"No. We all go to North Carolina University and this was midterm week. Even if she'd wanted a big party, there would have been no one who would have come."
Rafe nodded as he glanced at the tall blonde again. She was leaning close to Jordan and Jordan had a big smile on his face as they talked. The shorter brunette woman appeared to be chatting with Brent while Sebastian and Derek held their own conversation.
Shaking his head, Rafe turned back to Y/N. "You go to NCU? What's your major?"
She grinned. "Math."
"Really? Wow, I don't think I've ever met someone who’s admitted to that."
Y/N laughed, the sound light and sexy as hell. Rafe shifted on his seat, surprised by his physical reaction. "I'm not surprised."
"What will you do when you're done? Become a government code breaker or something?" Rafe asked, genuinely curious. He leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table between them.
"I think I'll become a teacher.” Y/N told him with a shrug.
Her fingers moved on the table and Rafe glanced down to see a napkin covered with writing. No, not just writing but numbers and symbols.
"There are a few other options out there for a math major, but I don't think I'd want to join NASA or become an engineer or anything like that."
"Would you be happy teaching math?" Rafe shuddered inwardly at the thought. He'd barely made it through his math courses when he was in school. The thought of dealing with algebra and calculus for the rest of his life would be as horrible to him as blowing out a knee.
"I think so." Y/N gave him a relaxed smile. "I love math. It sounds dorky, I know, but I like that math is the same no matter where you are. And I love that every problem has a solution."
Rafe grinned at her description. She made mathematics sound romantic. He liked her already. Maybe she could come home with me and teach me about fractions, he thought with a wicked grin. Her smile faltered for a moment and she looked down, her lashes fanning against her cheek. Jesus. Rafe shifted again as his pants grew too tight all of a sudden.
"So what do you do, Rafe?" Y/N asked, looking up again. Her fingers were still nervously working the scribbled-on napkin.
"I'm a hockey player."
She smiled and her eyes widened. "Get out! Who do you play for?"
Rafe chuckled. It wasn't often that he wasn't recognized right away. That article in People magazine had given him a certain level of notoriety. "The Carolina Hurricanes."
"Really? That's so cool. I've never been to a game."
"So, you don't know any of the major players then?"
She chewed her lip as she considered. "I've heard some names. Ovechkin? Is he on your team?"
Rafe laughed and shook his head. "No. Ovie is usually doing his best to kill me."
Her eyes widened at his words. "Are you kidding?"
Shrugging, Rafe eyed her as he lifted his beer bottle to his lips. "Not really. I’m the team captain.”
"And the players on other teams try to kill you?"
"Figuratively speaking."
"Sounds intense." Y/N sounded like she was perhaps teasing him a little bit, but he didn't mind.
"It is.” Rafe agreed, no small note of pride in his voice.
She smiled. "I'd love to see a game one day. My friend follows some teams and talks about it sometimes."
"Maybe you should come for a game sometime."
"Yeah, right." Y/N settled back in her seat with a laugh. "In between school and all?"
"Sure."
Y/N narrowed her eyes at him, but her full lips were still curved upward at the corners in a playful smile. Rafe couldn't believe how she was turning him on with just a look. He was going to have a difficult time getting up without embarrassing himself; and by difficult, he meant hard.
"If I got you tickets to a game, would you come?" He blurted, before she said anything else.
Her eyes widened a fraction and her smile changed. "There’s a loaded question if I've ever heard one." Y/N paused while Rafe tried to think of something clever to say in response. She leaned forward and rested her forearms on the table. "What exactly are you offering?"
"Are you going to make me say it out loud?" Rafe managed to ask, not surprised when his voice came out sounding a little rougher than usual.
Y/N grinned and Rafe slipped out of the booth before he could overthink it. He moved to her side and held one hand out towards her. "You want to get out of here?"
She looked surprised as he moved, but the smile never left her face. Reaching out, she laid her smaller hand in his and he was about to help her to her feet when someone appeared at his elbow. Several someones, in fact.
"Rafe!" Jordan exclaimed. "Are you harassing this woman?"
Rafe stiffened and offered an apologetic look to Y/N before letting her hand go and turning around. Jordan stood there with Brent, Sebastian and Derek, as well as the two women, Y/N’s friends.
"Hey, Jordan." Rafe struggled to keep his voice even.
"Y/N, move over so we can all sit.” The blonde said, waving a hand in Y/N’s direction.
Rafe took note of the look on Y/N’s face and before anyone else could make things worse, he slipped into the seat beside her. Her eyes widened and she smiled weakly at him as they slid all the way over. Jordan sat down, somehow managing to turn and hold the blonde woman practically in his lap.
Across from them, Brent offered the inside seat to the brunette woman before sitting down and leaving Sebastian and Derek to decide who got to sit and who had to stand at the end of the table. Introductions were made all around and Rafe learned that the blonde was Maria, the birthday girl, and the short brunette was Lindsay, Y/N’s roommate.
Conversation was awkward for a moment and then Jordan said something that made everyone laugh. As everyone relaxed, Rafe turned his face to Y/N, squished against the wall.
"Are you alright?" Rafe asked, feeling terrible for all but pinning her beside him.
Y/N looked flustered, but nodded to his question. Rafe didn't quite believe her. Their legs were pressed together from hip to knee and, even though she was half-turned to face the table, she looked uncomfortable.
"Can I suggest a way to make us both more comfortable?" Rafe asked quietly.
Y/N offered him a smile and he grinned back. Shifting, he slid an arm behind her shoulders and reached for her leg with his other hand. Carefully, keeping his eyes on her face the entire time, he curled his fingers under her thigh and lifted her leg until it rested over the end of his knee. She sucked in a surprised breath and Rafe choked back an appreciative sound when her lips parted.
"Better?" Rafe asked in a low voice. As he spoke, he trailed his hand over her denim-clad thigh and winked when she stared at the touch.
"Oh, yes.” Y/N murmured, not looking away from his eyes.
Rafe wasn't sure how long they sat there, staring silently at each other, but Jordan’s harsh voice broke into their moment.
"Cameron." Jordan leaned forward until Rafe turned away from Y/N.
"Yeah?"
"You guys want a drink?"
Rafe glanced back down at Y/N. "What are you drinking?"
She gave a breathless little laugh and shook her head. "I think I'm done drinking for tonight."
"Nothing for us, man.” Rafe told his teammate. “Why aren't you drinking anymore?" He asked Y/N as conversation rose around them again.
She lifted one shoulder and her eyes widened in surprise when she felt the warmth of his touch there as well. "I like to be… sober when I go home at the end of the night."
Her hesitant words made Rafe wonder if she'd had some bad drinking experiences already. "Have there been times when you haven't gone home sober?"
"Plenty of times.” Y/N replied with a laugh. "And don't tell me the same thing hasn't happened to you.”
"Sure, when I was younger and before I reached the NHL.” He confessed with a grin. "I'm like you now; I like to know who I'm going home with."
Her jaw dropped as his implication sunk in. Her mouth worked soundlessly for a moment, as if she was trying to speak but couldn't find the words. Rafe flexed his fingers where they were resting on her thigh and was rewarded with a shiver from her.
"I didn't say that.” She managed at last.
"I know, but I did."
For another long moment, they stared at each other. Rafe was dimly aware of his hand stroking her thigh, going down to her knee and back up again, stopping just short of being vulgar. Her body was warm tucked up against him like she was and he shifted, wanting to feel more.
The rest of the bar faded into the background as they continued to look at each other. Rafe watched her eyes flicker back and forth across his face and he watched the way she nervously chewed on her lip or ran her tongue along the corners of her mouth. The way he was feeling at the moment, he'd embarrass them both by kissing her.
"How much longer do we have to stay here?" Rafe asked, no longer caring if he sounded too forward or eager.
"How long will it take you to get us out of this booth?" She replied.
Rafe laughed, closing his hand around hers and tugging her away from the table. The two paused near the door so they could both pull on their jackets. Then, he held the door open for her and hailed a taxi on the street outside.
Once in the back of the taxi, the driver turned to glance at them over his shoulder. "Where to?"
Rafe glanced down at Y/N, who just stared back at him. He smiled and she was dazzled by his handsome face, yet again. "Would you want to go to your place?"
Y/N blinked, taking a moment to absorb his words. "Uh, I'm not allowed to have guys in my dorm room." She looked away in embarrassment. "And I wouldn't do that to my roommate. We promised each other a long time ago to never bring guys back to our room."
She risked a glance up at Rafe and was surprised to see his understanding nod. He turned to the driver and gave him directions to another address. "Then I hope you don't mind coming with me to my place."
"Not at all.” Y/N murmured and watched him from the corner of her eye as Rafe settled against the back seat.
Y/N was still reeling from meeting this man. He'd appeared at her table in that crowded bar as if from thin air. Now, she was going home with some strange man for yet another one night stand and she didn't even have the exam-in-the-morning excuse.
Rafe was looking at her, a sexy, lop-sided smile curving his wide mouth. Her attraction to him had been immediate. She itched to run her fingers through his locks and push it back from where it fell across his forehead. His eyes, now shadowed by the dark interior of the taxi, were a brilliant blue color and they absolutely sparkled when he smiled at her.
"Where are you from?" The thought sprang to her lips before she could stop it.
His eyebrows lifted. "You really don't know who I am?”
Y/N shook her head. "I already told you I don't follow the NHL. I have some memories of watching with my dad when I was a kid, but nothing since I was eight."
Rafe chuckled. "Well, I've only been in the NHL for four years. I actually grew up here in Hickory, North Carolina.”
"How old are you?" Y/N was unable to keep her curiosity in check. He looked older than her, that much was obvious, but he had one of those faces that looked mature. She guessed he might be about twenty-four or twenty-five.
"I'm twenty-four. How old are you?"
Y/N exhaled, figuring it was fair. "I'm twenty-one. I'll be twenty-two in a couple months."
Rafe didn't say anything, just nodded and kept smiling at her. His focus on her was disconcerting and she tried to dismiss it as his nature. As he continued to study her, he leaned forward and slipped an arm behind her shoulders.
Y/N told herself not to tense up and relaxed against his side when he gave her a gentle tug. He brushed his fingers along the line of her jaw. She shivered, entranced by his blue eyes.
"I really want to kiss you.” Rafe whispered in a husky voice.
His unabashed confession made Y/N smile and she tipped her chin up in silent invitation.
"You would let me? Here?"
Blushing, Y/N lowered her eyes and glanced towards the driver. He was oblivious, humming along with the radio and tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.
“I don't think he'd mind.” She replied, surprising herself with her words.
Rafe grinned and his face lowered. Y/N held her breath in anticipation, her body warming with each passing second. Then his lips were on hers and she let her eyes slide shut. For a long moment, he just held his lips against her mouth, not pressing for more.
They parted for a second and Y/N blinked her eyes open as she drew in a breath. Rafe muttered something she didn't catch and moved his hand to cup the back of her head. He kissed her again, harder this time, his tongue pressing against the seam of her lips, asking for entrance. She didn't protest. She parted her lips as she lifted her hands to clutch his arms.
Rafe tilted her head back and thrust his tongue into her mouth. He tasted faintly of beer and his masculine scent flooded her senses. His kiss was skilled and she made a small sound that didn't register in her brain until later, when he was easing away from her.
He grinned as he stroked his thumb down her cheek and she managed a weak smile in response. "I really want to kiss you again.”
Y/N let out a breathless laugh and nodded. "I won't fight you."
Rafe leaned in and kissed her again. She sagged against him this time, clenching her hands into fists where she clutched his jacket. His hand moved around to hold her waist as he plunged his tongue into her mouth.
Holy shit. Y/N’s never met a guy who could kiss like this. She wasn't sure how long they made out in that taxi, but at some point, the driver gave a discreet cough and Rafe pulled back. They were both breathing hard and Y/N could already feel the tenderness in her lips.
"I think this is it.” The driver said and gestured with one hand to their right.
There was a large apartment building and Rafe leaned forward to check. He agreed and released Y/N so he could pull his wallet out to pay the driver. Then, he got out and held a hand down to help her to her feet.
Y/N didn't consider herself the type of woman to go home with a man she'd just met. She'd done it a few times in her past, she couldn't deny that; three times, in fact. Now, she was about to do it for the fourth time.
