eating clean(er)!
prefaces:
i know talking about food can be a sensitive subject, so i want to give some prefaces before we begin:
this is not about weight loss, this is about health. people can be thin but still have a diet that is not beneficial for their health. even tho i’m not overweight, im still striving to eat healtheir for the sake of my health and the health benefits of whole foods.
i know it can also be difficult to eat healthy (healthier foods are typically more expensive in the US) and a lot of people don’t have the time to put time into thinking about what they’re going to eat. you don’t need to eat completely farm fresh food, these are simply tips for bettering your current diet.
eating better:
read about nutrition. you can buy or check out books on it or read online, but read about the importance of eating good and what we need in our diets.
find fun recipes. the first step is finding recipes you can make at home. generally, eating at home is cheaper and also a lot healthier. and finding recipes that are fun and new makes eating healthy a lot better :)
make a list of fruits and vegtables you like and dont like- this will help you know what to buy and what to eat more of. this is a great starting point
add more fruits and vegtables to your meals. find new ways to incorporate them into your meals- snack of them- whatever. just strive to eat a fruit and vegtable with every meal.
add more whole foods into your diet. obviously this includes fruits and vegtables, but also things such as poultry, eggs, nuts and beans. fish is also really good for you. find ways to incorporate the nutrients you need.
start with healthier snacks. to put it simply, just swapping out highly unhealthy snacks (such as chips, sweets, etc.) with healthier alternatives (such as fruits) can make a big impact. not only will these healthier options satisfy your hunger better, but you’ll also be provided with the proper energy your body needs.
balance it out! dessert is fun to- so are sweets and milkshakes and ice cream and all of that. eating healthy doesn’t mean getting rid of those foods, it means eating healthy most of the time but letting yourself enjoy a variety of foods.
how to start:
do your own research. the internet is full of misinformation and fear mongering, so before you even begin take time to research things like the effects of canned foods and other ultra-processed ones. you don’t have to be an expert in nutrition, but building a better knowledge of healthy eating and WHY it’s important is crucial to start.
find healthier alternatives. for example, i love fruit snacks and gummies, so not only do i eat less of those, but i tend to go for the healthier versions. changes like this will make healthy eating a lot easier!
start small. maybe just add a fruit or vegtable to two of your meals a day and then all of them. progress always comes from little steps, so find something that works for YOU.
if you’re having trouble balancing out food, or if food is just a general issue for you, then please get help and contact a hotline or service that deals with eating disorders.
conclusion
self-love means nourishing our bodies in order for them to be their healthiest versions. our bodies keep us alive and do so much for us- so in return we need to nourish them with what they need to keep us feeling good. treating our bodies to the nutrients they crave helps us feel more energized, improves our overall health and mood. it gives us a healthy feeling and a glow. hope u enjoyed this post :))))- amy <3

Solo self care activities
When I want to truly take care of my mind, body or self and dedicate time to me, I often struggle. I get weighed down by details and worry about what I’m going to do. If you’re anything like me, then I’m certain this list will help. If not and you’re just bored of doing the same old self-care, here are some activities to help switch things up for you! I like to pick 4 - 8 (a mix of high energy and low energy activities) and try to do all of the ones I have selected this month.
Tumblr media
Have a dedicated self-care bath. Use your fanciest bath gel, add a bath bomb, throw in some flower petals and dried lavender, light your sweetest smelling candles and decorate your bath space with crystals (rose quartz or clear quartz are my personal favourites for self-care). Spend a long time in that bath, reading or watching your fave show and just taking time for yourself before you start your more extravagant bath routine. If you don’t have a bath/access to one have a super fancy shower instead!
Go on a walk through a green space in your area. Grab a water bottle or iced drink, put your headphones in and put on your hot girl playlist or podcast, find out where you want to go and start walking. Regardless of if it’s a twenty minute gentle walk through the park or a two hour plus hike in the woods, get out and get some fresh air. Walking is such great exercise and it’s so much fun especially when you’re in a beautiful space and taking joy in the world around you. You don’t need to have the most stamina, start small and work your way up to a longer or harder walk.
Bake something! Think of your favourite baked good and find a recipe for it. Change it up to your preference by doing something like adding hazelnuts to your brownie batter or strawberries to your cupcakes. I personally prefer baking from scratch but if you aren’t the most confident baker or don’t have the time the definitely get a box mix. If you’re on a diet or just trying to eat healthier, now is the perfect chance to find a new healthy dessert! For example, healthy muffins are super easy and delicious. You can add fruits and nuts to make them more nutritious meaning they are super versatile and unique for you.
Write a love letter to yourself. This activity is so simple and so fun. Grab your favourite pen and a piece of paper and start writing to your future self. I love to write down my goals, habits I’m trying to start or break, things I’ve been enjoying lately and things I’ve been looking forward to. I try to be as positive as possible so future me reading the letter either feels accomplished having completed the goals and tasks or cheered up and motivated to get back to completing them and pushing myself. If you feel like giving future you a treat, you can even include things! Dried flowers, stickers and ribbons can be such a fun thing to include and help make the letter even more exciting to find and read.
Buy yourself flowers. I love receiving flowers and in my opinion there’s nothing that helps make a space feel fresher and lighter than a colour bouquet of flowers. Buying them for yourself means you can pick and choose the style and type of flowers making the bouquet even more special and perfect for you and your space. As the petals begins to fall you can collect them and dry them out, saving them for letters or journals or scrapbooks. If you don’t like buying fresh flowers due to allergies, pets or the fact they’re more temporary, I recommend buying dried flowers! These keep for ages and are very versatile. You can buy them online or see if florists near you have them. Of course, if you feel like splurging a little, the Lego flowers are adorable and double the self care as you get to spend time building them!
Organise your favourite photos into a scrapbook/journal. This is a brilliant way of keeping your memories in a more special place and being creative. I find it so easy to get lost in journaling or scrapbooking as I arrange my photos and add pretty paper, stickers or washi tape pieces. Pinterest has some beautiful scrapbook spreads which can help give you inspiration! A detailed page like this will look lovely in a more simple journal and if you find that you really love this craft, plain paper notebooks are very cheap and accessible, making scrapbooking a fairly easy hobby to start. Digital scrapbooking is also an option! Make a digital collage or find a website/app which allows you to create a full on scrapbook spread.
Give yourself a manicure or pedicure (or both!). Grab your favourite nail polish, a file and a base coat and get shaping and painting. Taking care of your nails is so relaxing and such a simple way to elevate your style. I have a dedicated nail care routine, but if you don’t then still take the time to care for your nails Abu adding a protective layer of polish. If you have the money or love doing it, definitely get your nails professionally done! All in all, getting your nails done either by a professional or yourself is so fun and worth it. This is also a great activity to do with friends. Invite some people round, have a nice meal and put your favourite show on whilst you all paint your nails. This is also a nice way to get some colour/style inspiration for your own nails!
Do some gardening. Check what seeds would be suitable for planting at this time of year, find a spot in your garden/balcony/allotment and plant the seeds either in dirt or a pretty pot. If you're feeling nervous about growing something from seed find a plant and help it to flourish! If you don't have an outdoor space, house plants help brighten a space and make it feel more cozy and homey. I love gardening and its so relaxing taking care of your little plant babies and watching them flourish.
Go to the local bookshop! I love book shopping and could do it for hours even if I only buy one book. Bring a friend or family member with you and buy each other one of your favourite books to try. I try to support independent bookshops over chain ones but if you don't live near any, buy your books from wherever. A cheaper alternative is to borrow some books from a library - you can normally get loads of books and can step outside of your comfort zone because you don't need to risk spending money on something you may not like. You can even look for academic books and learn something interesting or relevant to your academic career.
Try a new workout, like Pilates or hot yoga. Find a YouTube workout or tutorial that interests you and give it a go. Even if you cant do all of the moves or finish the workout it's still fun to give it a go and step outside of your athletic comfort zone!
Go to a museum or gallery. Look up museums and galleries that interest you, exhibits that are on and ticket prices and find a museum or gallery that you'd love to go too. So many museums have a very low admission cost and are often even free. I love going to museums (especially history ones!) and always learn and see something interesting.
Find a film you'd love to see and go to the cinema. I love going to see a film on a big screen and get film snacks like popcorn. Lots of cinemas not only have modern films on but also do older movie nights. A local cinema near me is doing a Halloween themed night and I am definitely planning on going! I enjoy going to the cinema with friends, but if you have a film you'd love to watch and no one you know is interested, go anyway and make a solo date out of it.
Go on a picnic. I love picnics so, so much. I always make a few jugs of homemade lemonade (when I want it to look prettier I make raspberry lemonade) and bring baked goods, cut up fruit and veggies and sandwiches, although if going with friends we typically decide who's bringing what. If the weathers bad or its too cold then an indoor picnic can be fun and very cute!
Watch the sun set or rise. Whichever option you pick, it is a great time to be creative! Journal, scrapbook, take photos, paint or sketch, sunsets/sunrises can be so awe-inspiring and really help you feel more creative. I love watching the sunrise in the winter with a cup of matcha and my journal.
Do some kind of art class. I personally love pottery painting but getting out and being creative is always fun, especially when you get to try activities that you may not be able to do at home. This is such a fun thing to do with your friends, I love pottery painting with my friends and going out for a meal afterwards.
Go to some kind of outdoor market. It doesn't have to be food (although I love a good food market), it could be a farmers market or craft market! This is a great opportunity to get outside and support your local artisans and farmers. You can find such cute items and speciality fruits and vegetables that might be harder to find in your local shops. I adore seasonal markets and will definitely be visiting Christmas markets come December and autumn markets if I can find any near me.
Have a beach or lake day. I am 100% a beach girl but I know that lakes are also very fun. You can find so many activities to do at a beach or lake, from collecting shells and rocks, sunbathing, reading, swimming and so much more. Salt water is great for your skin and swimming is a super enjoyable form of exercise. If it's too cold for a swim, a walk along the beach/lake is also fun and normally much more quiet.
Have a day off from devices. I know this is harder and if you literally can't not use devices due to work or other commitments, just try using no social media and sticking with just emails, messages and phone calls. I always find that this day to be super relaxing. I just let my friends or contacts know the day before that I wont be available the next day and do some activities I often struggle to find time for.
Have an everything shower! These are always very fun and make me feel so clean and organised afterwards. This is also a good way to polish your routine and find out what works really well for you. My everything shower is pretty detailed but if you prefer to keep it simple then absolutely do so!
Go to a coffee shop and study! You don't have to study for school, research something that interests you (or study for school). Sip your favourite drink, get a yummy snack and study in a way that helps and interests you.
Read a comfort book. This is a favourite of mine and I love re-visiting a book from my childhood or a new comfort book. If you aren't a big reader listen to an audiobook instead!
Refresh your morning and night routines. Find out what isn't working and change or remove it from your routine. I love working on my routines and adjusting them depending on the season or a variety of other factors. Changing your routine will help you to find the best routine for you and ensure that you stay healthy and happy.
Sort through your wardrobe. Every few months I go through my wardrobe and work out what I'm regularly wearing, what I'm not using and what I don't like any more. Instead of letting the items I don't like waste away in my wardrobe I try to donate them to charities or gift them to friends who would love them. You can also sell them on apps such as vinted or depop and make some money of off old clothes. Keeping your wardrobe tidy helps make it easier to find clothes, plan outfits and saves you plenty of time when picking an outfit. Sorting your wardrobes also a way off switching out your light summer clothes to your warmer winter clothes and so on, making sure you keep up with the season and weather.
Make a wish list! Whether it's for your birthday, Christmas, a celebration or just so you know what to get when you want a treat, a wish list helps you keep track of what you want and saves you from buying an item you don't love as much. I have wish lists for clothes, books, self care products and room items. Just editing these, adding to them or taking things away, is so much and I enjoy making brand new wish lists.
Finally, do a deep clean of your space. Put your favourite playlist or podcast on, fill up your water bottle and make a checklist of what you'll deep clean and get going! The more often you deep clean your home the easier it gets. Even if you can only bring yourself to deep clean your bedroom, it's still a start and I guarantee that when you finish deep cleaning you will feel so much better!

It's very strange to me how "self care" has evolved, and devolved, as a term.
I remember that, when it first started cropping up online, it was specifically used to describe activities that society might deem frivolous or childish, but which in reality can soothe or heal the psyche-- things like taking a bubble bath, playing in a leaf pile, going to the park with friends and playing on the swings and slide like you did when you were a kid, using a silly straw, building a fairy house, painting your nails fun colors, ordering comfort food even if it's not the healthiest thing on the menu, getting your dessert with rainbow sprinkles.
Then people took issue with, I don't know, the idea that frivolous joy might be a unique way to care for one's self, and started insisting that "hard stuff is self care too!" Doing your taxes is self care! Doing your laundry, paying your bills, taking your meds, washing the dishes! If it's necessary to keep you alive, and doing the task improves your life, it's self care!
Then companies noticed the popularity of the term and "self care" became the new slogan for the meditation and yoga and health food genre of product. Face masks, bath bombs, fresh organic produce-- it's self care! Going out to eat, getting boba tea, buying a comfy new bathrobe and some fuzzy slippers-- self care! The term is used interchangeably with "Treat yourself", but holds a different moral weight; instead of the thrill of self indulgence, it's "buy this unnecessary product for your health."
Now I see online communities attempting to reclaim it. "You don't have to spend money to do self care! You can go for a walk, take a bath, eat a healthy meal--"
That's not "self care" thats just taking care of yourself.
I'm not knocking the importance or difficulty of making time and having energy for taking care of yourself. It can be hard! It can be impossible sometimes!
I just think it's sad that this term has lost its meaning. I think its meaning was important. I think it's important to recognize the very specific way that being a little silly, being a little childish or frivolous, can truly be vital to one's mental health. It's activities that are technically TRULY optional, but only if the goal of life is perpetual drudgery. Self care is (or was, originally) all the ways to recover, to be comforted, and have a little fun so life is more than just worth living. All the ways that get dismissed as unimportant.
I just think it's worth noticing that this term, about reclaiming that which is incorrectly dismissed as unimportant, is itself deemed too unimportant to survive with its true meaning intact.

National Junk Food Day
Junk foods are usually, by definition, high in fats, sugars, salt, and calories. But more often than not, they are delicious! Junk food day is the perfect day to treat yourself. On Junk Food Day, you get to eat anything you want. Eat any amounts that you want, too. Tomorrow, however, it’s back to a healthy diet.
It doesn’t have to be candies either. Like bacon? Eat so much bacon! Like chili cheese dogs? Eat all the dogs you want. Onion rings, yes please. Pizza? Have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Junk Food Day is all about indulging in your favorites.
Please Note: Junk food may be hazardous to your health. After all, mom knows what’s best for you. Do so at your own risk. That risk includes having too much and Mom saying: “I told you so!”
Learn about Junk Food Day
Junk Food Day is a day that allows you to chow down on the foods that you usually would not. Junk foods, by their definition, tend to contain a lot of calories, salt, sugar, and fats, and they offer very nutritional value. You may think that it doesn’t do anyone any favors to have a day that is dedicated to junk food.
However, if you follow a healthy and balanced diet, there is nothing wrong with having one day of the year whereby you can eat anything that you want to. In fact, this is encouraged, because it means that you are more likely to eat healthily the rest of the time, right? Of course, it is up to you whether or not you decide to fully embrace Junk Food Day, but we know that we will be!
History of Junk Food Day
Upon searching for the history behind this food filled day, we found no information on the origin of this day. It was most likely created by a diet conscious individual or group who desired to eat junk food, without guilt, at least one day a year, sounds like a great idea to me. For it to become a “national” day it requires an act of congress. I don’t mind celebrating it anyway.
But, what about junk food? When did this start to come into our lives? Well, this coincides with the advent of packaged foods throughout the late 1900s. Of course, for decades, home-cooked meals were still the standard. However, after WW2, junk food really started to take off.
The population was traveling more and eating out more, and this resulted in fast food chains and the frozen food aisle really taking off. There were so many different foods for people to choose from. However, it was not until the 1970s that junk food started to get a bad name. This was when microbiologist, Michael Jacobson, actually coined the phrase. His aim was to try and curb our appetite for high preservative, high salt, and high sugar foods, which we were eating at a worrying rate.
Since then, there has been more knowledge and information about junk food, and a lot of food manufacturers have tried to make healthy versions of the junk food that we love the most! Nevertheless, if you have junk food now and again yet you generally maintain a healthy diet, it should not do you any harm! After all, we all deserve a treat now and again, right?
How to celebrate Junk Food Day
Celebrate this wonderful day by eating any sweet or salty treats you want! Bake cupcakes, make cookies, heat up some popcorn, buy some of your favorite candies. Invite friends over and have them bring in their favorites and make a junk food buffet and spend the rest of the day watching movies. You can always go get some fast food for fun. Take a cheat day from your diet and have dessert for dinner.
Consider trying some junk foods from other countries. Japan has a particular talent for making fun candy that you have to mix together. Look online to see if you can order special treats for the day. To name a few for you Korea has Cheong Woo Pumpkin Candy.
The Ukraine has Mr. Fizzy, a small hard candy that fizzes in your mouth. Columbia has Jet chocolates, a package of chocolates that also comes with a dinosaur sticker. Japan has Unican Mikita Melon Milk candy, a chewy candy with melon flavor. In Spain they have Violetas, sugar coated natural violets. In Poland they have a crunchy wafer-chocolate bar called Prince Polo made by Olza.
Another way that you can celebrate junk food is by creating your own versions of your favorite snacks. For example, instead of heading down to KFC, why not try making your own southern fried chicken? There are lots of great recipes online for junk food nowadays. In fact, you will see that there are some weird and wonderful creations, including different and unusual burger recipes and much more!
You may also want to decide to spend Junk Food Day with your friends. Why not host a junk food party? You can tell your friends that everyone has to bring carby and fatty foods. There are no green leafy foods allowed! Enjoy the day and indulge together. After all, it’s not like it is something that we all get to do all of the time, is it? So, you may as well make the most of it and indulge in those naughty foods. We won’t tell anyone!

Frozen Desserts Market - Forecast (2022 - 2027)
Frozen Desserts Market Overview:
According to the World Bank, roughly 4.5 billion low-income people belonging to the developing countries collectively spend $2.3 trillion a year on food and beverages product[1]. In the developed economies, this figure is even higher owing to the flamboyant incomes and luxurious lifestyle that people lead. Apparently, some part of this money is spent on desserts like ice-cream and other frozen food products which is flourishing the frozen desserts market that was valued to be $32 billion to $34 billion as of 2018, the demand is estimated to grow with a healthy CAGR of 6% to 7.5% during the forecast period of 2019 to 2025.
Tumblr media
North America has observed a lot of technological advancements in refrigeration and conveyor methods over the years. These advancements are coupled with the fact that North America is one of the most robust economies in the world, and the residents have noticeably higher incomes than that in other countries. The high income chiefly enables them to spend on frozen desserts. This is a major driving factor attributable to the thriving frozen desserts market in North America. Furthermore, there are many companies such as Lantmannen Unibake USA. Inc., Schwan’s Company, Sara Lee Desserts, and others that are constantly expanding their portfolio which is catapulting the frozen desserts market revenue in the region.
Frozen Desserts Market Outlook:
Frozen desserts are food products based on flavored water in the form of shave ice, ice pops, sorbet, and snow cones; and they are made of milk solids or even vegetable oils. They are consumed as frozen cakes, frozen yogurts, and ice-cream which is their key application owing to the variety of flavors of the same available in the frozen desserts market. Moreover, the target customers show a predilection for ice-creams after meals, and that happens to be the reason for the considerably higher sales of ice-cream as compared to other frozen desserts. The consumption of ice-creams across the globe will observe a CAGR of 5% to 6% through to 2025.

Frozen Desserts Market Growth Drivers:
The Remarkable Rise in Disposable Income –
There is a noticeable increase in disposable income across the globe. According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in developed economies, the year-on-year rise in disposable income was observed to be 3% to as much as 7.4% in 2016[2];  and further economic growth is aiding to the increase of the same. Moreover, developing economies are also observing a constant rise in disposable income. Apparently, people tend to spend this disposable income on consumable products that include frozen desserts, which is leading to a tangible growth in demand for the same.
The Emergence of Low-fat & Gluten-free Products –
It’s discernible that the world is moving towards a healthy lifestyle which largely attributes to the growing awareness about health and wellness owing to the easy access to a lot of health-related content available on digital platforms. This is quite evident when the International Dairy Foods Association documents low-fat ice-cream as the second most popular category in dairy foods[3].  Subsequently, people are shunning from foods that have high-fat content or are detrimental to health. So, the vendors in the frozen desserts market are offering a variety of low-fat & gluten-free products that are garnering a significant amount of customers, which is increasing the frozen desserts market revenue.

The Diverse Marketplace for Frozen Desserts –
There is a perceptible expansion in the frozen desserts marketplace over the years. The packaging industry coupled with the E-commerce sector has provided customers with the comfort-friendly facility of ordering frozen desserts online and enjoying the treat in their homes. This has a subsequent effect on their “whim factor” and has been an effective contributing aspect associated with the soaring sales of ice-creams and other frozen desserts. Additionally, a wide range of frozen desserts is sold in malls, departmental stores, multiplexes, and other distribution channels which further supports the frozen desserts market.
Frozen Desserts Market Trends:
Hindustan Unilever Limited aspires to become the market leader in the frozen desserts market. In order to diversify its frozen desserts portfolio, the consumer products conglomerate had acquired Vijaykant Dairy and Food Products Limited (VDFPL) in August 2018.
The veganism wave proliferating across the globe is highly influencing innovations in the frozen desserts market. This is to say that the vendors not only reinvent their product portfolio with new flavors but are also venturing into non-dairy products in order to cater to the growing demand from the vegan population that is going uphill since a few years now.
In contemporary times, the world is becoming well-aware about inorganically manufactured food products and how they affect health. This has led to an upsurge in demand for organic foods which is replicating in the frozen desserts market wherein the vendors are reinventing production strategies to offer organic ice-creams and other products to the target customers.

From Basher to Believer
Tumblr media
I’d always been on the slender side from when I was a kid until I graduated from college. When I started working and adult life happened, my metabolism started to slow down. I had minimal movement and maximum exposure to all the food I could ever want in the world. When I turned 25, that was when gaining weight happened regularly for me, and family and friends began to notice. In hindsight, I wish I did something about it the first time it was called out, but of course, I dismissed the ‘harsh’ observations at the time, and I was probably in denial too.
By 28, I was officially overweight. This did not come as a surprise. However, I was also diagnosed with polycystic ovaries (PCOS), a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. This condition was also a contributing factor to my rapid weight gain. My sugar was at a pre-diabetic level, and my cholesterol was sky-high. I started taking maintenance medicines for these – Metformin, Atorvastatin, and contraceptive pills. My OB kept saying these weren’t enough. I needed to exercise and stick to a healthy diet. I did not budge. Maybe it was a combination of stress at work, lack of time, and yes, laziness. I would rather sleep or hang out with friends than strain a muscle on my free time (which was not exactly abundant)—if you get my drift.
By 30, I was at 185 pounds and was diagnosed with obesity. In fact, dark spots suddenly appeared on my feet, as a result of “popped veins” because my feet could barely carry my weight. I would crash diet for several days and then resume eating unhealthily. I would also get nauseous from time to time because I also had anemia. The weakness and fatigue were palpable. People around me expressed concern more and more often. Some suggested that I go to the gym, but I silently sneered at the thought of ever going there. Because I didn’t know better then, I silently mocked those who would post workout photos, when in truth, they were worth emulating. They took care of themselves the best way they can, and not everyone had the will power to do so.
When I turned 33 and I got retrenched from my previous job at the height of the pandemic along with thousand others, I suddenly had too much time on my hands. All the books were read; all the errands were accomplished; all the chores were done. I guess I felt so sad and empty that buying a stationary bike online seemed like a good idea. That was the first thing I purchased from my separation pay. Side trivia: I never learned to ride a bike without the training wheels because my parents were overprotective when I was a child. At least now I could ride a bike without falling flat on my face. 😊
Tumblr media
It was probably around July 2020 when I started doing indoor cycling for about 20-30 minutes a day. On days that were extra dull and lonesome, I would pedal for an hour until I couldn’t feel my legs. That got me exhausted enough to sleep earlier at night. That was also the beginning of things changing for the better. I also decided to be more carefully aware on the kind of food I ate, but I never really excluded carbs and desserts. I still drink milktea as much as I’d like—but with lower sugar level.
By the end of 2020, I was able to lose 28 pounds, then 35, then 45 in the ensuing year. Whenever I’d get bored with cycling, I would search for easy home exercises on Youtube. I bought an exercise mat (which is quite tattered now), and I also did Zumba. I highly recommend MadFit! I didn’t do crazy-hard exercise routines that I knew I wouldn’t enjoy. I wanted to move, but I also wanted to keep it fun. I also chose the music that best resonated with my soul while exercising. The amazing thing was, I just didn’t feel lighter on the outside—I also felt lighter inside.
Several months after I got hired by Accenture, I decided to enroll at Anytime Fitness, so I could still exercise on some nights after work. I’ve never been happier to realize just how wrong and ignorant I was back then about people who went to the gym. It was a slap on the face for the judgmental person I used to be. Devoting time at the gym was not easy at all. I’d get lazy every now and then, and I'd bail, but whenever I did go, I felt physically (and even emotionally) better.
These days, my weight has gone on plateau, but the important thing is to keep moving—no matter how minimal. I have to admit, there are days I feel sheer frustration when I see that I’m gaining some pounds again, but I proactively remind myself that I’ve come a long way, and that’s enough. I’m still a work-in-progress, and I just want to embrace this journey, wherever it may lead me. It also makes me happy being able to fit in my old clothes again. A small win is still a win, and slow progress is still progress.
So to conclude this rather long story, and if you’re still reading at this point (thank you), I guess here are the “best learnings” I can share:
Something always seems impossible, until it isn’t. It’s hard to start, but all worthwhile things have to start somewhere.
Go at your own pace. Rushing to meet your goal will only birth frustration.
Don’t keep checking the weighing scale. The more important thing to check is how your body feels. The body never lies.
In losing weight, you also begin to realize you’re losing the weight of other people’s opinions that never really mattered. You do you.
It’s not always a bad thing to remember the past. Looking back reminds you of how far you’ve come. The first person who should be proud of yourself is you!
“And I said to my body, softly, ‘I want to be your friend.’ It took a long breath, and replied, ‘I have been waiting my whole life for this.’” ~ Nayyirah Waheed

We’ll also introduce you to Millet n Minutes Madurai, a fantastic online store for buying delicious and healthy millet snacks!
What are Millets?
Millets are a group of small-seeded cereal grains that have been cultivated for thousands of years. They are known for their resilience, thriving in harsh environments with minimal water. There are several types of millets, each with its unique taste and nutritional profile. Here’s a quick introduction to some of the most popular ones:
Finger Millet: This millet is rich in calcium, iron, and dietary fiber. It has a slightly sweet and nutty flavor and is often used in porridge, flatbreads, and even sweet dishes.
Foxtail Millet: This millet is easily digestible and has a slightly sweet, earthy taste. It cooks quickly and is perfect for making kheer, upma, and millet salads.
Kodo Millet: This millet is known for its protein content and is a good source of iron, calcium, and magnesium. It has a slightly bitter taste and is often used in savory dishes like millet pulao and stews.
Barnyard Millet: This millet is high in fiber and protein and has a slightly sweet and grassy flavor. It is a versatile grain used in khichdi, soups, and even millet pasta.

The Powerhouse of Health: Benefits of Millets
Millets are not just ancient grains, they are nutritional powerhouses! Here are some of the compelling reasons to include them in your daily diet:
Rich in Nutrients: Millets are a good source of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They are particularly high in iron, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, essential for maintaining good health.
Gluten-Free: Millets are naturally gluten-free, making them a perfect choice for individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
High in Fiber: The high fiber content in millets keeps you feeling fuller for longer, aids in digestion, and helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Low Glycemic Index: Most millets have a low glycemic index, meaning they release sugar slowly into the bloodstream, preventing blood sugar spikes and crashes. This makes them beneficial for managing diabetes and promoting weight management.
Good for Heart Health: Millets are a good source of complex carbohydrates and healthy fats, which can help lower bad cholesterol levels and promote heart health.
Rich in Antioxidants: Millets contain antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body and protect against chronic diseases.
Benefits of Millets :
With their impressive nutritional profile and numerous health benefits, millets deserve a prominent place in your daily diet. Here’s why:
Versatility: Millets are incredibly versatile grains. They can be cooked in various ways — boiled, steamed, roasted, or even popped — and used in a wide range of dishes, from breakfast porridges and salads to savory stews and sweet desserts.
Easy to Digest: Compared to other grains like wheat or rice, millets are generally easier to digest. This makes them a good option for people with sensitive digestive systems.
Sustainable Choice: Millets are known for their drought tolerance and require minimal water to grow. They are a sustainable choice for a future with a growing population and potential water scarcity.
Affordable: Millets are generally more affordable than other grains like quinoa or oats. This makes them a budget-friendly option for incorporating healthy whole grains into your diet.
With so many advantages, it’s easy to see why millets are becoming a popular choice for health-conscious individuals and families.

Juicing Is One Of The Easiest And Delicious Ways To Get Great Nutrition
Juicing can be a great way to get the nutrients that are in vegetables and fruits combined into a tasty juice that has all the flavor of fruit but doesn't have a vegetable taste. This article can help you learn more about juicing and discover ways to incorporate it into a healthier diet for your family. At cerebrozen of a juicing program, make juices out of fruits that you already enjoy eating. This will ensure that you enjoy the juice while still receiving some health benefits. If you start juicing using fruits you've never tried before, you may not like the juice and you're unlikely to continue making them, meaning you won't gain any benefits. Do not forget to remove hard pits from fruits like peaches and cherries before sending them down the juicer. These pits can destroy your juicers blades turning your happy purchase into a giant paperweight. Don't get into such a flow in your juicing that you forget to make the fruits safe for juicing. Juice your softer fruits first and then send down your harder items. The hard textured fruit will do the job of cleaning the fruit that was left behind by the softer items. This means more juice for you and less clean up as well. Follow that trick and you'll usually get the maximum amount of juice in your glass, not left in the juicer. Bananas and papayas do not seem to do well in a juicer. You can still use them with juice, but it is best to stick them in a blender. They are very thick, and tend to work better when making fruit smoothies or any type of frozen dessert that you make. The biggest key in juicing is curiosity. Wanting to try new foods, things you've never even heard of before, will make your journey more tasty and exciting! Explore international produce markets to find vegetables and fruit that could change your life forever. Look online to research what vitamins and nutrients they contain. Ask your friends and family if they'd like to go in on purchases in bulk at local farms with you so you can buy more and get larger discounts. Apple farms, for example, will sell you bushel after bushel for decreasing costs per pound. Take a few cars up, load the back with apples, and share with everyone! They don't have to be juicers to enjoy fresh produce. Juicing will lead you to more ingredients than just produce! Try spices like cayenne or cinnamon, or nutrition-packed additions like spirulina. You can even put a little honey and yogurt in once in a while for a sweet, smooth treat. Make sure to use only non-fat, unsweetened dairy to keep the resulting produce healthy. If you don't have time to juice in the morning, you can make juice on the weekend and drink it throughout the week. The truth is that the vitamins and other nutrients in the drink will break up as time passes, but it's better to drink homemade juice, than nothing at all! Keep your juicer clean; keep yourself healthy. Organic products can leave some of the hardest to clean residue behind. Also, as the pulp decomposes, it can be a breeding ground for bacteria. Drink your juice; clean your juicer. That is the habit you should adopt. Target a juicer that is very easy to clean and does not have a lot of nooks or reservoirs that might be hard to reach. Want more beautiful hair and stronger fingernails? Try juicing! You'll be able to save money on expensive hair and hand treatments by getting the nutrients that they usually provide through the fruit and vegetables you include in your juice recipes. Taking those nutrients internally will mean that the hair or nail isn't superficially repaired, but actually fixed from the inside out. One of the best juicers that you can use in order to have high quality juice are masticating juicers. These juicers operate on a more gentle process and therefore preserve the juice's valuable nutrients. Another advantage of using this kind of juicer is that it enables you to store the juice for a much longer period of time. It's a delicious smoothie with all the benefits of fruits and veggies, minus that brussels sprouts after taste. Apply these tips to bring a healthy element to your diet, and to your family meals.

One such gem in the realm of gourmet ingredients is blood orange olive oil. A unique blend of the richness of olive oil and the tangy sweetness of blood oranges, this specialty oil brings a burst of flavor and a plethora of benefits to any dish it graces.
Tumblr media
What Makes Blood Orange Olive Oil Special?
Blood orange olive oil is crafted by infusing freshly-pressed extra virgin olive oil with the essence of blood oranges. This infusion process results in a vibrant, citrusy oil with a distinctive hue and an aromatic profile that is both refreshing and invigorating.
Rich in Antioxidants
Like its base ingredient, extra virgin olive oil, blood orange olive oil is packed with antioxidants such as vitamin E and polyphenols. These compounds help fight oxidative stress and inflammation in the body, promoting overall health and well-being.
Heart Health
The monounsaturated fats found in olive oil are known for their heart-healthy properties. Regular consumption of blood orange olive oil may help lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases by improving cholesterol levels and reducing blood pressure.
Boosts Immunity
Blood oranges are naturally high in vitamin C, which is essential for a healthy immune system. Incorporating blood orange olive oil into your diet can provide an added dose of this immune-boosting vitamin, helping you ward off illnesses and infections.
Culinary Uses of Blood Orange Olive Oil
Blood orange olive oil adds a zesty twist to homemade salad dressings. Simply whisk it with balsamic vinegar, honey, and a pinch of salt for a refreshing dressing that complements both leafy greens and fruit salads.
Use blood orange olive oil as a base for marinades for chicken, fish, or tofu. Its citrusy flavor helps tenderize the protein while infusing it with a burst of taste. Combine it with garlic, herbs, and lemon juice for an extra flavor boost.
Drizzle blood orange olive oil over freshly grilled vegetables, steamed seafood, or roasted meats to enhance their natural flavors. A finishing touch of this vibrant oil adds a pop of color and a delightful citrus aroma to any dish.
Substitute blood orange olive oil for regular olive oil or butter in baking recipes to add a subtle citrus flavor to cakes, muffins, and quick breads. It pairs particularly well with chocolate desserts, adding a hint of brightness to rich indulgences.
Summary: Incorporating blood orange olive oil into your culinary repertoire can elevate your dishes to new heights, both in flavor and nutritional value. With its antioxidant-rich composition and versatile uses, this specialty oil is a must-have ingredient for any kitchen enthusiast looking to infuse their cooking with a touch of citrusy sophistication.
