Otaku!Yuu: I've always found it weird that in most dark fantasy romances it's always some old-as-hell fae prince or dragon king trying to get with an 18-year-old girl.
Writer!Yuu: Yeah and they will have no discernable interest or personality outside of the obligatory tragic backstory the author gives them that is either way over the top or the most first-world problem you've ever heard of.
Otaku!Yuu: (acting)Oh my lord, I can't sing in front of the court! I haven't sung since my mother died in front of me. She was crushed by a piano while pushing me out of the way. I then fell into the road where a bus full of choir singers on the way to a performance nearly ran me other if it was for my father shielded me and died on impact. I miraculously didn't get injured except for this really cool tiny scar that I keep saying makes me ugly and refuse to listen when you tell me otherwise. After all as a woman I need a man to tell me I'm pretty or I will spontaneously combust!
Writer!Yuu: Oh God stop!! Please I swear I've read that before! Fea romance is so stupid anyways. It's the same story of some creep getting with a girl who's still mentally a child. But they are MEANT TO BE! Or something.
Otaku!Yuu: You ever notice that most of them are written by white Mormon women from the Midwest?
Writer!Yuu: For once I'd like a romantic lead that is actually fucked up. Not some kid who has to learn to fit in. Someone who knows politics and has core beliefs on leadership. Or hell, knows subterfuge and will stab someone in the back if needed. None of that namby pamby "you can't kill him then you'll be just as bad" nonsense.
Otaku!Yuu: Right where are you gonna get that?
-elsewhere-
Malleus:So how did you get your title if you weren't first in line to rule?
Noble!Yuu: The traditional way. Everyone else died.
Malleus:I'm sorry dear.
Noble!Yuu:( Took revenge on family members by convincing everyone they were traitors. Disposed of the crown prince and had everyone killed. Then placed their preferred royal on the thrown who pardoned them after their plan was done.) You're so kind love.

Jane's Pets Chapter 96: Resurrection

You asked Barron about resurrection, once. You didn't really know if you'd want to use it if it did exist, but you were curious, and none of its books mentioned it. You also felt smart for figuring that if it did exist it would require the death of someone else to do, since magic cares so much about balance, and wanted to see if you were right.
"Once someone's dead, they're gone." It said. "At least, that's a foundational assumption we mages make in order to better understand magic, like the whole balance thing. It's possible we're wrong, but assumptions like that tend to lead us in the right direction when it comes to tinkering and stuff, which implies there's at least some truth to it. So, assuming our fundamental understanding of magic is correct, you could puppet around a corpse, but the person they used to be will never exist in that form again. Maybe you could describe vampirism as a form of resurrection, but I wouldn't. Vampires who are turned aren't the same person they were as a human. There are also some mages who claim that ghosts are real, but given how magic resists attempts to prove its existence and how ghosts aren't solid and observable in the way fae, vampires, and other species are, it's hard to tell."
You nodded. "Would puppeting a corpse require killing someone?"
It raised its eyebrows.
"I'm not planning on doing it! I just guessed that the cost of a spell like that would be death and wanted to check if I'm understanding the balance and cost stuff correctly."
"Oh, that makes sense. A spell that allowed you to continuely puppet a corpse would require that, yes, but more temporary ones have easier costs to bear. Not that I think it would really ever be worth it, what would you even get out of that?"
You nodded. All this talk about puppeting was starting to make you think about the brand on your arm, and you'd rather not think about that.
"Is there any way to communicate with the dead?"
"Maybe. Like I said, it's hard to tell. Even mages who argue you can claim that it's so different from talking to the living it's hard to get much out of it."
You couldn't help but be disappointed. It would be so wonderful to be able to talk to your dad again…
Now, of course, you wish you could talk to Diya, Barron, and Ray again as well. It's good you found out it wasn't possible before they died, or else you'd probably spend the rest of your life trying.
You can't think about them right now. Once someone's dead, they're gone. You need to focus on the living.
Resurrection not existing can be a bit of a comfort, too. Once Jane and you are dead, you'll be gone completely, never able to hurt anyone again.
"Come here Kitty, it's time for your medicine."
Kitty shows no sign that they heard Jane. They seem captivated by the puzzle they're trying to solve.
Jane appears right next to them before you can do anything. "Kitty." Her tone is warning.
Kitty carefully places another piece with a shaking hand and doesn't look up. Oh. They're not captivated. They're doing this on purpose.
You open your mouth to say something, to try and convince Kitty that if they can just hold on until your hands heal they'll be able to be themself again, but Jane speaks first.
She grabs their face bruisingly. "Bad ki-"
"No! No no no no, stop it! Stop it, don't touch me!"
Jane slaps them hard across the face. She's not angry, though. She's smiling wide. "Uh oh… you know saying no to me is against the rules. You know being noncompliant is against the rules. I've put in all this work, and it seems like… you're just untrainable." Her voice drips with disappointment, but she's still smiling.
Kitty tries to punch her, and she easily teleports out of the way. "Puppy? Help me get Kitty downstairs and restrained."
Jane grabs them by the hair and touches their collar, making it instantly disappear into her void. Puppy comes from the kitchen grabs Kitty's legs. They thrash and scream, but Jane and Puppy get them down the stairs easily. After a moment of hesitation, you follow. Maybe you can convince Jane to lighten the punishment, or take their place.
"Master-"
"Nope!" Jane finishes hanging Kitty from the ceiling with Puppy's help. "Both of you are going to go upstairs and out into the backyard. I have a job for you, I'll be out to tell you what it is in a minute."
Puppy immediately goes back upstairs and pulls you along by the elbow. You'd shake her off, but it doesn't look like negotiating will help this situation. Best to just obey so you don't risk them being punished for your misbehavior.
It's a nice day. Puppy's been tending to your garden after breaking your hands, so you haven't been going outside as much as you used to, but you really should be spending time outside anyway. It makes everything feel more manageable when you get fresh air and sunlight.
Jane appears with two shovels in her hands. "I need you guys to dig a hole. As deep as you can go, and about as wide as a twin mattress. Can you do that?"
"Yes, master." You say on autopilot. You're… not going to be able to do that with your broken hands, but she knows that. Luckily, she doesn't seem upset at the obvious lie.
Puppy nods.
"Excellent!" She throws a shovel at you and the other at Puppy with much more force than necessary. Obviously, you're unable to catch yours. Ow. Puppy catches hers gracefully.
Jane is gone by the time you look back up, so you turn to Puppy.
"I won't be able to dig. Maybe I can kick some dirt around, but besides that I think I'll just be moral support. Is that okay?"
Puppy nods. She looks pretty shaky… and now that you're paying attention, you notice her face is pale and her eyes are full of tears.
"Hey, what's wrong? I mean-" How can you figure out what's wrong with just yes or no questions? "Are you upset about helping Jane restrain Kitty? You know that's not your fault. Neither is my hands being broken. It's okay."
That doesn't seem to comfort her. She wipes her eyes and stabs at the ground with her shovel.
"Is it that you feel bad about hurting me or Kitty?"
She shakes her head.
"Huh. Does it have to do with digging this hole?"
She gives one short nod, tears streaming down her face.
"Are you… upset that I can't help?"
She shakes her head.
You decide you should be able to figure it out from there. You wonder why Jane's just giving you busywork. Is it just busywork? That's not the kind of thing she normally does, and wouldn't she want you to have to hear Kitty screaming and not be able to do anything about it? She loves doing that stuff. And why does she want the hole a specific width, why would that matter if this is just-
Oh fuck, oh fuck. She's having you dig a grave.
Puppy throws you to the ground and pins you before you can even think about running in to stop Jane.
"OW- Wha- Puppy, we can't just let her kill them!" You could fight her off if you needed to, and you will if it comes to that. But first you want to try talking to her. "Please, I know you don't want them to die. We can't do nothing!"
She seems to consider that for a moment, then shakes her head.
"Puppy…" You can't wait any longer. You shove her off of you and run inside.
You leap over the couch and get to the basement door in seconds. You try to twist the doorknob using your elbow, but it stays in place. The door is locked.
That's fine, the door is still breakable. You run at it and ram your shoulder into it over and over again with all the force you can muster, but it doesn't seem to help. You kick it as hard as you can everywhere you can reach that you think might have weakpoints. Wood starts to crack, so you keep kicking until there's a hole in the door.
There's metal beneath the wood.
"No!" You scream and pound on the door with your fists. "Stop it, don't kill them, take me instead!"
There's no response. You run to the kitchen and grab the heaviest pot you can find, then run back and start banging it against the doorknob- the door doesn't need to break, just the doorknob- but that doesn't work either. You can't grip it tightly enough to bang with any real force with just your elbows.
"Puppy! Please, I can't do this without you!"
You turn to look out into the backyard and see Puppy curled up on the ground, sobbing and twitching, why is she-
The collar, her sobbing set off the collar, damn it! You scream in frustration. With the twitching and the shaking, she probably wouldn't be able to get a good grip on the pot either, even if she wants to.
You- you need a spell, there's got to be a spell that can break down the door! But- your hands-
Thinking about your hands again, you realize they're in agony. You might've re-broken them pounding on the door, shit shit shit!
"No no no no no no-" You can't lose them too. This is all your fault, again, and you can't do anything to help. If Jane's decided she's going to kill Kitty, she's going to kill Kitty, and there's nothing you can do about it.
You waited too long. You should've been trying a new spell every day, should've been attacking Jane at every opportunity, should've comforted Kitty well enough that they didn't feel the need to to be noncompliant to regain their autonomy- this is all your fault!
Now that you're not screaming, you can hear Kit crying out every once in a while from the basement. They're still alive, and you still can't do anything. You pound on the door weakly again.
They're going to die. They're going to die and it's going to be all your fault.
You lean against the door and sob and sob as the light coming through the windows slowly fades. At some point, Puppy manages to stop crying and starts working on digging their grave again. It's all she can do. And you can't even do that. You can't do anything. Cold wind comes through the open back door. You can't hear Kitty downstairs anymore.
"Aren't dogs supposed to be good at digging? This isn't nearly deep enough."
You whirl around at the sound of Jane's voice. She's looking down at the (admittedly fairly small) hole with her arms crossed, but a satisfied smile is on her face. Puppy looks near passing out.
A horrible thought occurs to you. She was never going to bury them anyway. She's going to force you and Kitty to eat their bodies. This really was just busywork.
Jane looks over to you and tsks. "And what have you done to that poor door? That's not what I told you to do."
"Where's Kitty?" Your voice is hoarse.
"...In the basement? Where else would they be?" The smug smile never leaves her face for a second.
"Y-you… Can I see them?"
She giggles. "If you want to. You won't be able to talk to them, though. They're dead."
You knew that on some level, but hearing it still sends the world crashing down around you. You can barely breathe. Not again, not again-
You can hear Puppy wailing, distantly, and Jane laughing.
You failed. The only thing keeping you going was the determination to save them and you failed. Even if you manage to kill Jane now, you and Puppy will never be okay, never be able to get past this. You'll live the rest of your lives with gaping holes in your hearts, and neither of you have enough left to compensate for it. You'll be empty forever.
From the other side of the basement door, you hear the click of Jane unlocking it.
"Well, do you want to see them or not?"
You stumble down the stairs in a haze, and Puppy follows close behind.
Kitty is still hanging from the ceiling. Their feet are in some sort of tub-
Their chest rises and falls. They're breathing.
"Kitty!" Your voice comes out as more of a scream. You run to them and wrap your arms around their body. "Kitty, Kitty, I thought you were dead, I thought-" You can't speak through the sobs wracking your body.
Kitty's eyes slowly open. "Wha-?"
Jane is laughing so hard you can hear her struggling to breathe. Puppy is at your side, gently tugging on your shoulder. Right, Kitty doesn't like to be touched, and they can't push you away right now.
"Sh-She- I thought you were dead- she had us dig your grave!"
"I'm… sorry."
"You have nothing to be sorry for, nothing, it's all her, I'm just so glad you're alive-" You want to hug them so badly but you know that they probably wouldn't like that.
"You really thought- you really thought I wouldn't make you watch the whole time if I was actually killing them!" Jane wheezes.
You don't care. You don't care what she does or what she says, as long as Kitty's alive.
"I'm going to kill her. Soon." You say softly. Kitty doesn't react, but Puppy…
Puppy looks at you with steely determination in her eyes and nods.
A/N: Man, this one was fun to write. Originally it was going to be titled 'Death' just to be mean but I figured I'd give some hints that Kitty wasn't actually going to die. I didn't plan on this landing on April 1st but what a fun coincidence! Let me know if I should tag anything else, or if you want to be added to or removed from the tag list! Next chapter is the season finale!!

Click under the "read more" to learn about the character you picked! And feel free to send me an ask if you'd like to learn more about any of them! I'm turning this into a writeblr tag game too so if you want to join in on this, I'm tagging @abalonetea and @ashen-crest and @theroseempress
Option 1: Luca Laine
"It was far too lovely a day for a riot, but not even the warm morning sun or the light breeze flapping the trader's multicolored tents could keep Luca from taking advantage of the fact that there was, in fact, a riot."
The protagonist of Storge! He's a desperate kid who picks up people's trash and tries to salvage it into useful stuff for his family, but when he dares to steal a magical charm from the avian, Acheran, he's too much of a paragon to get away with it. His honestly earns him a job from the reserved shopkeeper and they end up becoming solid friends who look out for each other when their city devolves into a civil war.
Option 2: Grace Laine
"I could have killed you by now if I wanted to. "Uh yeah, but you didn't."
Luca's younger sister! As a powerful energy sink, this kid can absorb magical energy and use it to bolster her own stamina and healing. This also means she can't use magic to fight, and so her father taught her martial arts at a very young age. As a result, this 14 year old menace is fully convinced she's indestructible and sasses assassins and terrorists with absolutely 0 negative consequences whatsoever /sarcastic
Option 3: Enne Laine
Luca and Grace's older sister! Despite being blind, she's the only sibling with common sense or self-preservation. With a lockbox memory and a lifetime of strategic thinking, she's extremely good at getting her way. While her sister is busy provoking the assassins and terrorists and keeping them distracted, she's arguing her way to freedom and sabotaging them on the way out.
Option 4: Hannah Teagan
When her younger sister, Cecelia, goes missing and all signs point to abduction by fae, Hannah promptly storms into the woods behind their house to bring her sister home. She gets more than she bargains for in the Seelie and Unseelie courts, and its up to her to find a way out of their maze and back to the world she knows.
Option 5: Cecelia Teagan
(this one's a spoiler :3)
Option 6: Min Larua (aka Miragel aka Maxk aka Visige aka Mentira)
A changeling who wants to become the Liege of Thieves. They use their various alter egos to set up a "crime ring" all reporting back to their leader Larua to make it seem like they have a stronghold on the criminal underworld in their city. They eventually recruit a real team, none of which have no idea that their rival, ally, and boss are all the same person.
Option 7: Both Tess Teagan and Weswin
(The first one's a spoiler as well.) Weswin is cursed to have a constantly shifting appearance that he can't control, meaning its impossible for him to maintain an identity or make friends. He eventually forgot his name after years of coming up with different constantly changing personas, and so he eventually settled on calling himself after the "west wind" which he follows in his wanderings.
Option 8: Sora Shiraishi
When you suppress your abilities out of fear for years, it can be terrifying when they start to forcefully manifest themselves and you don't know how to recognize them. Especially when you think you're hallucinating strange sounds and objects moving around, even though it's just the friendly spirit that your family's soul is bonded to, trying to get your attention. She only learned much later that she was experiencing a normal connection to the spirit world, and not losing her mind.
Option 9: Madelyn
Originally a very powerful mage, Madelyn lost her magic when her friend Alric betrayed and attacked her with a Relic. As she learns how to use magic from point 0 all over again, she logs her progress in her journal, and eventually learns how to cast spells from the ink and written words, binding her soul to it and becoming a Relic in her own right. It's a good thing her diary is extremely difficult to destroy as a result, but she refuses to risk losing her magic again. It wouldn't physically harm her, but she still might die of embarrassment if anyone ever read it.
Option 10: Seth
The child of high ranking dignitaries in Maaren, Seth was trained for the noble political life from the moment he learned how to talk. He resented this at first, not really knowing what he wanted to do with his life, but not wanting to be associated with his family's legacy. But after his family's power collapses and he escapes Maaren as a refugee, he realizes he's still really good at politics and rallying people behind a common cause, and uses his training as a force for good in the world.

Still Subject to Change Chapter 5 (NEW)
——————————————————————————-
Hello everyone! i decided to repost arc 1 of SSTC
(the chapters were way too long and had a bunch of typos but hopefully this will make reading easier)
this Story contains Vore, Dont like dont read.
if there are still any grammatical errors i’m sorry.
——————————————————————————
Tumblr media
As soon as I was in a stable sitting position Robin tried to climb on my leg only to be stopped by Rikaad who had grabbed his scruff.
“Don't randomly climb people, that's rude!”
Rikaad seemed to be an alright guy even if I did not know what to make of him.
On one hand he seemed not afraid to call just about anyone off should they do something wrong.
On the other hand, I couldn't really make sense of him.
I now knew that Robin liked me enough to not want me dead, and I realized that that was the first time in forever that someone had actually stood up for me which never happened before and felt weirdly fuzzy inside at that.
Arthur however definitely wanted me dead judging by the look in his eyes.
But I could not for the life of me figure out what Rikaad was thinking of me and it made me kind of nervous.
But before I could further dwell on it Arthur had walked over and went to face Rikaad whispering something to him I could barely hear.
“What are you doing? We are supposed to get rid of this thing! Have you forgotten? He kidnapped Robin for fucks sake! And now you just let him free? We are supposed to get rid of the Fae folk as per the king's orders!”
Wow i never thought someone could be this hateful to someone they didn't even know but apparently i was wrong, I just hoped that the others did not listen to him.
“Arthur i can understand that you are angry about this entire situation but i have to inform you that we are not in Kamerasca right now, so technically the laws don't apply here, and we can't do anything without provocation”
He stepped closer to Arthur gripping his lower arm gently.
“Just behave? it's going to be okay we can just ignore the Fae and go home, i'm certain he's not gonna go to Kamerasca ever again seeing as he'd be killed on sight if he got to close”
Arthur squirmed a bit in his grip and finally conceded.
“fine but only because he did not laugh at Robins spider thing and helped instead”
Speaking of Robin now that Rikaad’s attention was on Arthur he had resumed climbing my leg and was sitting on my knee now.
Looking at me he just pointed at them and shrugged.
“Arthur is still pissed about the whole thing but i promise he's not evil just very grumpy and unfriendly”
His attempt at reassuring me wasn't really working as Arthur kept looking at me like he wanted to jab my eyes out.
“Sure”
I really wasn't convinced but so far at least none of them actually hurt me more than a few scratches, not counting the Sedative bolt of course.
As both of the other young men came back over, Robin attempted to slide down my leg but ended up falling down from my knee and I moved on reflex catching him before he hit the ground.
Well this certainly gave me enough adrenaline to stave off the rest of the tranquiliser.
Slowly lowering him the rest of the way to the ground I saw that Arthur had run closer and upon seeing him in my hand had put his fingers onto the hilt of his sword staring at me with wide eyes.
Rikaad however was eerily calm and strolled over to Robin who was climbing off of my Palm and offered his hand to him to help him down
“Arthur do not be rude and put that sword away”
Arthur did so immediately.
It seemed that this Rikaad guy was the leader of the group, or at least Arthur did as he said.
“So now we all can go our separate ways and forget that this week ever happened right?”
Arthur seemed eager to leave which, honestly, I couldn't blame him for.
I had scared him the first time we met and basically kidnapped his friend so it was no wonder he had a disdain for me.
He came up to us and took Robin's arm, dragging him away from me a little.
An emotion I couldn't quite identify bloomed in my chest and I did my best to shove it down.
I would not be sad about Robin leaving! I barely knew him anyway so what would it matter if I was alone again? I was a loner before so I can be a loner again if I have to!
However as they went to leave they seemed to encounter a problem.
“Do any of you know the direction we have to go to get home?”
They all looked at each other confused at Robin's Question, seemingly not having thought about that beforehand.
“So you guys followed me without any plan??”
I couldn't really believe that anyone would be so stupid to follow a Giant of all things into the Silvervale forest which was known for its monsters.
“Well this is your fault! If you hadn't grabbed Robin we wouldn't even be here!
An angry looking Arthur yelled at me.
“My fault?? You're the one that dragged him into a Forest that was already known for being a deathtrap! You didn't have to go after me but you still did!”
I defended myself.
“This is definitely not my fault! You're the one that stole something! And it is my duty as guard to correct anything unjust!”
This guy made me angry, as if Guards ever did anything helpful to people they deem ‘lesser’.
“The only thing I took was a piece of bread because I did not want to starve! And save me the Guard duty stuff.
I know those guys just love beating up the poor people! I saw them kill an old fisherman and then throw his body into a crab container just cuz he told them to fuck off! Your precious Guard can rot in hell for all i care”
Arthur's face went red and warped into a Furious grimace.
“You know what? Fuck you! and Fuck all this! Im going to fuck your mom and give her a child she’ll actually love!”
At these words I felt my anger that already had been simmering a bit boil over again, I had never been insulted like this.
But before I could even move to do anything Rikaad crossed the short distance between them with a few steps and had slapped him across the face, startling me out of my anger.
“You do not take such words into your mouth ever again! If you have to resort to such foul language to win a battle you are absolutely no better than your opponent!”
“But-”
Arthur held his face where he had been slapped with one hand.
“No excuses! such language will not be tolerated, understood?”
“Understood”
Robin had hid behind me while all this transpired and only now dared to peek out again.
“So do we know where to go? Or not?”
He asked meekly, seemingly wanting this interaction to be over already.
Rikaad turned back to him while Arthur took some snow out of a shadowed area under a tree and cooled his face with it while walking a distance away out of sight.
“I'm afraid we don't but i'm sure we'll find a way back, don't worry this time we are three people so that should make it easier”
Seeing him stand next to Robin this close I noticed that he was almost an entire head taller than the Ginger boy.
“Only three? Not four?”
He glanced up at me but I waved him off.
It would be better if he went home, and i could not follow him, i was not allowed anywhere near Kamerasca at all so i'd be better if i just left.
“The patrols would kill me on sight its better i don't come with you”
“But-”
Whatever Robin had wanted to say was interrupted by a scream coming from somewhere behind the trees.
Before I could react Rikaad had already darted past me and Robin to the source of the sound, fingers ready at the hilt of the sword at his side.
“ARTHUR!”
Running after Rikaad and coming to a stop on another clearing i saw Arthur pinned beneath a Manticore, the weird mismatched lion body with scorpion tail and legs was as big as a horse and its stubby feline face was turned into a weird grimace that showed mandibles protruding from its gums, dripping with sickly gray saliva.
Rikaad tried to shoot it with the crossbow not daring to get closer, but the thick chitinous segments of its heinous form made the bolts ricochet off of it.
Not really knowing what to do I tried to remember everything I knew about Manticore but the only thing that came to mind by staring at its shiny carapace was a memory of a cat swiping at a normal scorpion.
I decided that since my brain would not supply anything better, to do just that and hope not to get stung.
So getting closer and avoiding making it sting or maul the trapped form of Arthur underneath it I crouched down, trying to aim for its side to smack it away from Arthur, who had started bleeding out of a wound inflicted by the thing's legs.
Hitting it square in the side as hard as I could and sending it flying against a tree I heard a sick thud and it stopped moving.
Leaving Rikaad to deal with Arthur i went over to the manticore planning on making sure it was dead.
Inspecting the twisted form of the monster I saw it still shallowly breathing.
Not knowing what else to do as weapons were too small for me I broke off a tree branch and Stabbed it through the abdomen between two of the chitinous segments, watching sickly bluish blood lazily flow out of the wound.
I tried my best not to throw up at the awful sight and sick smell.
Tossing the branch aside and turning back to the other two.
Arthur was half lying half sitting on the ground and holding his side which at least had stopped bleeding.
I might not like the guy very much but I still did not wish anyone death.
I was not sure if going over to them would be appreciated so I decided to head back to Robin who we had left behind some trees.
“Robin?”
He popped up from a bush scanning the area as if expecting more monsters.
“Donovan! Is everything okay? What happened? Is Arthur alright?”
Bending down and plucking him out of the bush I told him about what had happened.
“There was a Manticore but its dead now so don't worry, as for Arthur im not sure but Rikaad is with him”
Clinging to my fingers he tried to look between the trees to see where the other two were.
“Can you bring me to them?”
He asked and even if he could walk the short distance himself I brought him over.
Rikaad was bandaging a gash in Arthurs side where the Monster had slashed at him with its legs, Arthur's armor set neatly aside.
Arthur himself seemed to be okay and was complaining about getting bandages, insisting he was fine.
Seeing me come closer with Robin in my hands he paled a little but did not say anything.
“Arthur! Are you okay?”
Robin shouted, trying to climb down on me before I could set him on the ground, so lowering my hand he jumped off, stumbling for a second then running straight for Arthur.
But before he could tackle him in a hug he was stopped by Rikaad who put a hand on the smaller boy.
“Careful! I don't want this to start bleeding again so make sure you’re mindful about that okay?”
Robin nodded enthusiastically and went to sit at Arthurs side.
I debated if I should leave for good now that nobody's attention was on me before Rikaad winked me down to talk.
So, sitting on the ground once more a bit away from the Injured Arthur that was currently being fussed over by a very energetic Robin, I faced Rikaad not really knowing why he had wanted to speak to me again.
“I want to apologize for shooting you with the tranquiliser crossbow and also thank you for saving Arthur, even if he insulted you you still stepped up to help when i could not get close to the manticore so thank you for saving my friend”
Well this was not what i had expected but i guess it was appreciated.
“Uh well dying to one of those beasts would suck wouldn't it?”
I stammered out a bit dumbfounded, he had apologized for shooting me AND thanked me for helping Arthur, who was now trying to shove Robin off of himself.
But I still couldn't really place the guy, he was a bit unnerving regardless.
“I do have to ask though if you know the way back to Kamerasca as it seems none of us can remember the way”
I really wished I could answer that but as I had been intending on leaving the place so I didn't memorize the way I had taken.
“No idea sorry, but i've been just walking towards the mountains so maybe if you walk away from them you'll end up back in Kamerasca?”
He shook his head slowly.
“That's going to be dangerous if we don't know where we are going and i'm not sure if just walking away from the mountains won't lead us into even more dangerous areas”
“So what do you plan to do then?”
I asked him and he seemed to try and think of something.
“Would you help us? I know you have no reason to go back to a place that doesn't like you but i fear that these woods are not made for some small humans”
I knew doing this would be risky as it meant that I had to get close to Kamerasca again, but at the same time this was kind of my fault and i didn't think I could leave them to the forest’s whim at this point.
“I'll bring you close to it, but if i see any buildings i'm out”
This seemed like a reasonable solution so I would not have to be anywhere near Tunstead ever again.
Rikaad nodded at me curtly.
“Thank you, now let's get the other two”
He turned on the spot and walked back to Robin and Arthur.
What a weird guy I thought but brushed it off for now maybe he just had a strict parent or something.
Walking over to where the other two still sat on the ground I looked back at the mountain.
Well i could still go there at a later point if i wanted.
Robin perked up when he saw us come back, Arthur however looked mildly annoyed at the fact that he now had at least two flower crowns on his head made from dandelions.
“The weird plant juice is making my hair sticky”
He complained at Robin who just laughed and stuck his tongue out at him.
Arthur then turned to face Rikaad.
“So what do we do now? Which way do we need to take to go home?”
Rikaad pointed at me.
“He said we had to go away from the mountain to get back but i'm not sure if we won't end up in even more danger this way, so i asked him to tag a long for a bit”
A huge smile appeared on Robin's face while Arthur clenched his jaw but didn't object to it even if he still looked at me with a death glare.
“As long as we get home i guess”
He slowly stood up mindful about his injury.
Robin walked up to him offering a hand.
“I'm fine just a small cut”
That did not look like a ‘small cut’ i thought, but it didn't look all that bad either.
“So what direction do we need to go now?”
Arthur seemed still a bit uneasy about the entire manticore thing, eyes occasionally glancing at the corpse.
“Away from the mountains, we have been walking towards them the entire time, so if we walk with them at our backs we should find home in no time”
Motioning for all of us to follow he started walking Arthur stumbled after him and Robin jumped up to go after them.
Lagging behind a few seconds I also started walking with them.
I soon realized that this was Slow, maybe not for a human but I was a Giant now which meant I had way longer legs than them.
Having to stop all the time to not just step over them was rather annoying.
Robin seemed to notice and motioned to talk to all of us.
“We are not as fast as you, Maybe it would be faster if you pick us up?”
At this proposal Arthur paled once again and even Rikaad seemed a bit uneasy.
“I don't think i want to do that, honestly i’d rather not aggravate the cut on my side by being grabbed so let's not?”
He seemed nervous and I could understand that, After all, our first encounter did not go well.
Robin however immediately walked up to me and put his arms over his head in what I could only link to a child asking to be picked up.
I decided that grabbing was off the table as I was pretty sure if I did that Arthur would stab me, so instead I put my hand on the Ground for Robin to climb on.
He did so with no hesitation sitting down in my palm while Arthur glared at me and Rikaad just watched with those unnerving eyes of his.
I could just not tell what he was thinking, which at the moment was scarier than any monsters to me.
Standing up again we resumed walking, still at a stupidly slow pace to me but forward nonetheless.
Carefully cupping my hands to my chest and slowly dragging my feet over the floor I went after the two that had decided to walk themselves.
It was really boring to slowly drag myself after them, and also awkwardly silent.
It took a good hour until someone said something again.
“I think we should look for a camping spot before it gets dark”
Rikaad was the one to break the silence, and looking up I did indeed see that the sun was way lower than before.
I wondered how long I was out cold from the tranquiliser as it was not even midday when I got shot with it.
“How long was I out for? That Tranquiliser must be one hell of a drug to put me out for hours”
Rikaad was once again the one to talk
“About four hours but i might be off”
Four hours huh, well that was a good chunk of the day wasted just lying on the forest floor.
Speaking of the forest floor, it seemed we had to make some room between trees as we could not find any more open areas.
Setting Robin down and shoving an uprooted tree away, I sat down while the smaller Humans gathered firewood.
Looking up at the sky and watching it change color till they managed to get a fire going.
I flinched when I heard the crossbow go off again but I wasn't the one that got shot, I realized quickly as a dead bird fell on top of me.
“What the fuck”
Plucking the carcass from my shoulder and holding it into the fading sunlight I saw that it was a white bird with grayish mottled wings.
Looking down I saw Robin trying not to laugh and Rikaad looking still as stone faced as ever, Arthur looked at me with shock probably expecting me to do something bad.
Chucking the dead Bird at Rikaad who expertly catched it, I leaned against a tree which creaked a bit under my weight.
I'd be insulted by this if I wasn't a giant now.
“You're a good shot but please don't drop dead birds on me”
Something that I thought was the smallest hint of a smile appeared on his lips but as soon as I saw it it was gone again.
“I will try my best”
He handed the carcass over to Robin who set about preparing the bird by plucking out all feathers and carving the guts out.
All three of them looked tired but I was still wide awake, probably because I spent four hours unconscious in the middle of the day.
I wondered if i could sleep tonight at all or if my sleep schedule was fucked now.
Deciding not to worry about it now I instead watched what the smaller men were up to.
Robin was cooking the bird Rikaad had shot, Rikaad himself was fiddling with the crossbow, apparently fine tuning it.
Arthur was using a whetstone to sharpen his blade, the rhythmic shrrrap shrrrap providing a constant background noise.
He occasionally glanced up at me but when he saw that I was looking at him he turned his head down again very fast.
The smell of the cooking Bird was delicious but I still did not feel hungry.
I decided that since the bird was too small to be of any use to me that I would not ask for a piece of it.
Instead I looked at the cursed Bracelet a bit more.
It was a grayish pale metal but not iron as iron would sometimes give me a rash when I was exposed to it too long.
Silver maybe? But silver did not conduct magic as far as I was aware.
So whatever the pale metal part was it could not be either of those.
The other parts however seemed to be made of Bronze and gold with the Bronze forming a sort of swirling pattern.
It had various green gems inlaid, none of which I recognized.
“What are you looking at?”
The Question put me out of my trance and I looked down to see who had asked me that.
Robin was staring up at me holding what appeared to be a cooked bird leg and a piece of its wing.
“I'm just inspecting this Cursed thing, don't worry i'm not gonna mess with it”
I tapped the Bracelet to show what I meant before putting my arm down again.
“Aha”
He looked at the meat in his hands and then back at me.
“Id share with you if you want”
While it was nice of him to offer i knew that it was not enough for me even if he had offered me the entire bird, so i winked him off.
“Keep it, that's not enough for me anyway so no need for me to take yours”
“If you're sure”
He sat down on the Ground where he was and started biting chunks of flesh out of the leg.
I noticed that both Rikaad and Arthur were also staring at me.
Did they expect me to do something? I knew that Robin hadn't told them about me being able to eat people, but it still seemed like they were waiting for me to attempt to do so.
Well given the amount of horror stories about Giants and all sorts of big creatures it was no surprise.
It still stung a little but I guessed that there was no way for me to prove that I wasn't a monster.
I just hoped that we found our way back to Kamerasca so I could leave and deal with this stupid curse somehow.
I just hoped I did not have to cut off my own arm to do so.
I heard someone shuffling around near me and looking down I saw that Rikaad had stood up.
“We should sleep. Who is volunteering for the first shift of the night watch?”
Rikaad looked at all of us equally as he asked and I decided that since I had a good four hours of tranquiliser induced sleep already that I would volunteer for the first one.

It's really fascinating seeing how Phoebe seems to "complete" you in a way that Sushi and the chis don't--not that you don't obviously love your other girls, but Pheebs seems to fill a hole that they can't. My own "heart breed" is English bulldogs, but I'd been trying to convince myself I could live without them since finding a healthy one is. uh. DIFFICULT. Seeing you with Pheebs makes me think the effort may be worth it.
There is no doberbutts with a doberbutt, after all.
I adore my girls. Fae is very used to being the favorite child and is taking a little longer to accept the idea of a new favorite in the house. It surprises me because she accepted the boarders and fosters without a fuss, but I suppose my reaction to them was nothing compared to Phoebe. But... as much as I adore Fae, and as perfect as Sushi is, and as lovely as Tater's personality has become... none of them are dobermans.
In everything I love about her, they fall short. It's not their fault. I still love them dearly, and I still like their breeds. But there is nothing quite like a doberman.

Ok now we have to find Lalia now. I cannot handle a Wednesday like this with Max
[Kids, Max has officially upset the askers. I think we need to recollect and head out to get Laila. Plan or no plan.]
Judith: "We've done all the research we can on spells and curses. Hopefully we should be able to handle ourselves.... Reaching Clarissa is our only hope."
Alice: "I just hope you're right about this... what if we can't convince her-"
Carlos: "Well then we turn into animals, get put in a giant circus tent for a freakazoid carnival, Veruca takes control of an entire town of people, and the fae diiiii- nothing. Nothing happens to the fae. Sorry Max. Put the knife away please-"
Sharon: "You're a fantastic motivational speaker Carlos. Great job."
Carlos: "you are like. 5 inches tall. Don't patronize me."
Rosie: "I miss my tablet...all these books are killing me."
Judith: "GUYS!"
Judith: "C'mon now. What did we form this group for if not to save people from what we've suffered. Max, listen to me. I lost someone to these people too okay? You aren't alone. None of us are going to get turned into animals- or get trapped in a circus- or let whatever these witches have planned fly. You know why?! Cause we've faced these suckers before! We're still here!!! We're still kicking!!! So let's SHOW them what's gonna happen if they keep fucking with us kids!
Who's WITH me?!"
Becca: "NOW THATS A SPEECH!"
(Loud cheering from all The Coven Kids)
[This brings back memories... You kids got this right? I'd come with you if I could but I dont have legs. I also need to stay here in case someone comes looking.]
Alice: "Don't worry Mr. Library. We'll be careful. And we'll make sure to bring Ms. Evergreen back with us."

Critical Reread - ACOTAR Chapter 4
Join me on a reread of A Court of Thorns and Roses
Chapter 4
Feyre meets a beast.
“The beast had to be as large as a horse, and while his body was somewhat feline, his head was distinctly wolfish. I didn’t know what to make of the curled, elk-like horns that protruded from his head. But lion or hound or elk, there was no doubting the damage his black, daggerlike claws and yellow fangs could inflict.”
I'll be honest I just kind of pictured a blur of beast-like features for Tamlin's beast form, but now that I'm looking at some fan art I get the idea of what she was going for much better. Do we get better descriptions later?
“But it was another word that echoed through me: Faerie.”
I'm curious why she thinks this when she didn't note anything about Andras? Maybe Tamlin's unleashed his power and she can just feel it? Is there a distinction between faeries and other magical creatures or is Faerie shorthand for all of magical kind?
“I had vague memories of being read the Treaty during my childhood lessons, but could recall nothing about wolves.”
I just think the humans would have this treaty top of mind if they live on the border and are terrified of the fae. Wouldn't it be really important that everyone uphold the treaty, so the fae don't have reason to retaliate?
“He blinked and glanced at my sisters, then back at me, at my thinness—no doubt seeing only frailness instead. “Surely you lie to save them.”
Come on Tim Tam. Of course it's the girl who just tried to stab you and is now bargaining with you. Not one of the three people huddled in the corner crying.
“Not me, because Nesta had always known and hated that she and I were two sides of the same coin, and that I could fight my own battles.”
I think this line gives us another hint that Feyre doesn't see herself as a perfect angel that can do no wrong, even if that's what the narrative is more or less telling us. She believes she has the same capacity for awfulness that her sister does. I would like to see more of that though.
“Most of you mortals have chosen to forget that part of the Treaty,” he said, “which makes punishing you far more enjoyable.”
Why are mortals in this world so dumb?!? You should definitely remember the parts of the treaty that can get you killed.
“You murdered my friend,” the beast snarled. “Murdered him, skinned his corpse, sold it at the market, and then said he deserved it, and yet you have the nerve to question my generosity?” How typically human, he seemed to silently add.”
I don't think kidnapping someone is particularly generous.
“Faeries couldn’t lie, but they could omit information.”
Literally the third time this chapter that we are told faeries can't lie. That definitely means it's true, right?
“But in going with him, I would be breaking the most important promise I’d ever made. Surely it trumped an ancient treaty that I hadn’t even signed.”
Come on Feyre, that's not how political treaties work.
“Whatever you do,” I said quietly, “don’t marry Tomas Mandray. His father beats his wife, and none of his sons do anything to stop it.” Nesta’s eyes widened, but I added, “Bruises are harder to conceal than poverty.”
She really could have told Nesta that sooner.
“You were always too good for here, Feyre. Too good for us, too good for everyone.” He squeezed my hands. “If you ever escape, ever convince them that you’ve paid the debt, don’t return.”
She's certainly too good for her family, but it's interesting that he says she's too good "for here" when she seems to fit in there best of all of them and likely would not be happy with a high society lifestyle.
“You go somewhere new—and you make a name for yourself.”
And she really fucking does.

😭 I know I'm obsessed with Malleus. I even put that fact in my bio.
What I didn't realize -- until about 10 minutes ago -- was exactly how obsessed I am with this FICTIONAL damn goth dragon!
I am really hoping most people don't read my tags now lol. I saw one of my mutuals post an ask that had a link to art of first year Idia Shroud, with short hair. It's really great art and even short haired Idia is very pretty.
I liked the original post of the artwork and stuck it in my queue. But not after adding my tags. Which started out on the subject of how and why Idia became dorm leader and then ended up becoming a whole ass novella about Malleus! Pretty much anything will make me think of Malleus and then I get sidetracked and go off on a tangent. I have so many feelings about him. Like ALL the feelings! 😭
At this point, I wholly understand that Japanese guy who married a fictional character. I probably wouldn't have a public wedding though 😂. He's much braver than I!
Honestly, though the Idia being dorm leader thing is very confusing to me because he so obviously loathes being dorm leader.
Knowing Ignihyde students, none of them want to be dorm leader either. So it seems to me that someone was able to force Idia to be the dorm leader?
But who and how? Because we know that Idia really only seems to care about Ortho (and gaming lol). And from what I've seen, Ortho is the only one who can convince Idia to do something he doesn't want to.
But I've also seen where, at least once, even Ortho was not able to convince Idia to do something. Ortho is able to get Idia to reluctantly agree to attend the ceremony, but then Idia had a change of heart and stood Ortho up. (Idia's ceremonial robes story)
Here's where the problem with my brain and my tags begins . . . . (this is gonna get long folks, grab a beer and pull up a stool)
:read more:
This makes me start thinking about how Idia runs into Malleus out on one of his walks. Malleus is curious as to why Idia is wearing his ceremony robes and I can't remember what Idia's excuse was, but Idia didn't mention the ceremony at all.
So poor Malleus is confused and apparently just thinks Idia is a weirdo and doesn't question it more than that. Malleus is a stranger in a strange land. And he's been completely isolated and pretty much alone for hundreds of years?
It's never stated, but it's implied to be a very, very long time. Dude hasn't been socialized well with other FAE, let alone with humans!
He must be so confused by their behavior most of the time and their strange and baffling technology. He must have extreme culture shock.
Think about if the only knowledge you had about a certain subject was something you read from a book written by someone 500 years ago. And you had no idea that there had been updates and progress. Soooo much progress and change. Which you aren't used to.
I can't begin to imagine how surprising yet confusing that must be for Malleus! Particular as it's shown that he didn't think much could be learned in only 4 years and he didn't think the human lifespan was enough time to really accomplish anything. Apparently fae culture doesn't change much or at least not rapidly.
I keep thinking about how Malleus is so unused to human gadgets and technology and I'd love to see his reaction to finding out the rate at which computer and cell phone technology advances! 😂 He'd definitely have his adorable shocked Pikachu face! 😁🥰
I love how he's starting to reevaluate what he previously thought about humans and their ability to do so much with their very limited lifespans. And I absolutely adore how he believes that "misinformed knowledge is the source of all prejudice" and says he thinks that he'd like to study humans and learn more about them.
In light of the fact that we know there was a war between humans and the fae and his parents are both deceased, I'm worried that we'll find out they were killed in the fae/human war.
If that turns out to be the case, then this makes Malleus all the more amazing to me. Because it would be only natural to not have any positive feelings or beliefs about a group of people your country was at war with. Especially if someone you loved was killed by the opposing side.
We don't know how old Malleus was either but he may have been really young. And to have their parents killed . . . to a child's eyes, would be terrifying and life shattering. Malleus didn't even have friends or anyone that could help him process his loss and provide support and comfort, other than his grandmother (who sounds like she's always too busy to spend much time with Mal) and Lilia.
Yet his first real friend is a magic-less human and he's kind of adopted Silver (it seems like he's more like an uncle or big brother to Silver though, rather than co-parent). And he's curious about humans and their many cultures and actively wants to learn more about them.
It sounds as if Malleus is attempting to try to repair fae/human relations. He says several things which make it sound like this war was so long ago that the fae have been forgotten by everyone. It seems like Malleus has decided Briar Valley has been isolated and forgotten for far too long. And I think that he's decided, as king, that he wants to change that.
Malleus is naturally a very curious person, and I know his reason for being at NRC is for him to have new experiences and for him to have a chance to learn about the world outside Briar Valley. Perhaps it's also a chance, for a short amount of time, for him to be in a place which doesn't require him to be Prince Malleus all the time. He wants to be or at least is trying to be a regular student, "just like you."
However, I don't think this is the only reason he decided to attend NRC. I hope he can make connections and bring some innovations to Briar Valley. I hope he can manage to change the hearts and minds of his subjects. The humans who fought against the fae are probably long gone, but many Briar Valley fae probably personally fought in the war and probably very few of them are as forgiving as Lilia and Malleus are (and Sebek's mom!).
I hope Malleus plans to help his people integrate with the world outside of the valley. I hope he can improve their lives by bringing in some technology so they can be connected to the rest of Twisted Wonderland so they can be up to date on changes and the news of other nations.
From a security standpoint even, rulers need to be aware of the actions of even allied nations in case they decide to change alliances and start wars. It's important to not be completely in the dark in case relations sour.
And before I finish a 200 page novel about my latest Malleus thoughts . . . I'd just like to say that I think it would be so cute if Idia and Malleus could be friends? Idia could help Malleus with tech and help him get Briar Valley connected and they may be very different in their personalities, yet they do have things in common with one another. At least as far as how people judge Malleus unreasonably without first even giving him a chance. And true or not, Idia believes they do the same with him.
If you're not a dick to Malleus, he seems to be really non-judgmental about most things and I certainly can't see him thinking Idia has weird hair and judging him for something stupid like that.
Hell, Leona is a full on asshole to Malleus pretty much always, but Malleus just threatens him. And when Malleus threatens Leona (and honestly most people he threatens), it seems like he's just reminding them of what he could do if they pushed him too far.
I think very few of Mal's threats are genuine. I've really only seen two times that I can remember where I think Malleus was enraged to the point that he would have acted on his threats. Both times were during the first Halloween event. And granted, I think murder probably would have been a bit excessive . . . but the way they treated Malleus, who was being very polite to them, literally sickened me.
Someone outside of Mal's entourage should have punched those people in their faces. Like Yuu, lol!
In Malleus's defense, every dorm had one person who planned to commit murder. FFS, Ortho was going to blow up everything and level the entire school! Even Idia started panicking when he was struggling to reprogram Ortho.
Can I remind people that's not the only time Ortho has almost committed extreme violence? Chapter 6 is heavily foreshadowing Ortho doing bad things.
Yet Ortho, much like an adorable like Chihuahua, is almost universally seen (in the fandom and at NRC) as cute and harmless. Meanwhile, Malleus is seen by basically everyone at NRC and some in the fandom as the evil pitbull. Dangerous and scary. (I've never been scared of pitbulls either, lol. I've always thought they were super cute, but I've never had a negative interaction with one either.)
Ok, I had to get some of that off of my chest because I don't want to argue with people or tell them their opinion is wrong (because it's not--an opinion is only that--it's just the way someone views something and it's ok for people to view things differently), yet it also bothers me to see people saying that Malleus gets really angry very easily and they act as if they believe he would follow through on all of his threats.
Maybe he would. After all, I don't know him either or what he thinks (as much as one could know or understand someone who doesn't actually exist). But it seems like he recognizes his duty and responsibility as future king and that, as such, he represents the entirety of his kingdom.
If Malleus were to commit some egregious act, it would not only reflect poorly on him, but on all residents of Briar Valley, and to some extent all fae. If he were to murder a human or humans or level the school or something similar, it's not outside the realm of possibility that humans would see that attack on one of their own as an attack against all humans and therefore a declaration of war. If the future king of the fae kills humans I could totally see people viewing that as an act of war as he's essentially the leader of his country. Or close enough that even if people have no issue with Mal's grandmother, they may see Malleus as taking a more violent approach to leadership. Or at the very least, a more unpredictable and unstable leader.
Malleus is not stupid and he's at least somewhat aware of that after Silver gently chides Malleus when he nearly loses control. Silver reminds Malleus that he had told them he wanted to "avoid any aggressions towards other species" and then asks Malleus "what if this feeds into hostilities?"
From what Malleus says after he's calmed down enough to think rationally, it's obvious that he's ashamed and probably really embarrassed that he lost his composure and was ready to commit violence. Like all the NRC students Malleus is arrogant and being as powerful as he is, both magically and physically, as well as being a prince who has lived for perhaps hundreds of years -- I'm sure he's shocked that he lost control of his emotions and temper.
He may have had hundreds of years to work on controlling his emotions (which is a really bad idea tbh), but he is used to people who probably all show deference to him and respect his authority.
Humans are a whole different breed. The magicam type of person probably wouldn't treat their own nation's leaders with respect, let alone the ruler of another nation.
Malleus was neither prepared for nor did he expect anyone to not only be horribly rude to him, but to treat him like he wasn't even a living being. They treated him like an object, who only existed for their amusement so they could get likes on their magicam feed.
Lord, I think I'm finally finished getting all my thoughts and headcanons out there and "on paper." If I printed this out, it probably wouldn't be 200 pages, but I'd be afraid of how long it would be.
I haven't spent this much time writing anything since I wrote my college theses! I remember that being a nightmare to write though and this wasn't.
Of course all I did was write out all the Malleus thoughts in my head (for now lol).
I apologize for any errors if you put yourselves through the torture of reading this all. I started out proofreading and then I added twice as much content.
My last job was proofreading 8 hours a day, so I really don't feel like spending even more time editing the rest of this. And knowing me, I'm likely to make more additions if I look at it again. 🙄

I'm from a different dimension actually Chapter 9 Damian x reader
Tumblr media
"What is this place, why is it shaped like a T?" We stand on an island with this enormous building smack in the center of it the sunset shade casting a large shadow over us, I can't get over how ridiculous it looks. Or contemplate my confusion, Nightmare makes an unimpressed huff and nuzzles back into my shoulder.
"Titan's tower."
"why would this be a good place to hide? It's the most obvious building here, I ran with you for several days I'm beginning to think I would be safer under my floorboards." He walks up to the doors and pulls out a card holding it in front of the circular panel. It beeps and a clicking noise comes from the door.
"Believe me this would be a better place for you." I sigh a form of any and all anxiety pools in my body, but I still meet him at the now unlocked door.
"Alright fine but you need to explain to me why here of all places."
"When we get inside." The doors swing open, the area behind it lights up leading to what I assume is an elevator. I'm pulled inside not giving me a chance to look around. "Hey!" He doesn't answer but pulls us into the elevator, I don't see him push a button but we almost immediately move up. It's fast but not as fast as the one I had to go down for training at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Though the feeling is familiar and I start missing my classmates all over again. I rub the wrist that Damian was holding to dragging me here. Nightmare growls at the space moving him and interrupting his nap. The space stops and the door opens to an open space that looks like a large living room. a white angled couch a large kitchenette and an impossibly large TV by open glass windows. The room has several people all staring at us, my anxiety hits me tenfold and I take a step back. A hand is at my shoulder the moment I do and pushes slowly while moving itself. The doors close signaling that I'm truly stuck here, a woman with Neon pink hair and bronze skin zooms up to us.
"It's so good to see you, and I see you brought a friend. Richard has been looking all over for you."
"I know that's why you can't tell him we're here." I'm pushed forward. "She's a mutant possessing the X-Gene, my father wants to interrogate her for the information, she needs to stay here till a better solution becomes present. Can she stay here?"
"Well of course she can stay-"
"What?!" Nightmare jumps from my arms and hisses. I walk backward, taking in this new information. "How did, you find out when-when." Fear creeps how long had he known how much trouble was or might be in. But he didn't mention this. but then again why would he. How does he know about the X-Gene though, from the research I did there were none here with it. The closest there was were Metahumans but even they didn't have anything close. My back hits the wall and I return to the world Nightmare growls standing guard in front of me. Everyone who was in the room now stood in front of me, a boy that was green from head to toe, another girl in a purple cloak and unitard, and another boy with something attached to his back. The pink-haired woman steps forward, but Nightmare swats at her yowling as a warning to keep away. She raises her hands in surrender but looks at me.
"There is no need to be afraid, I knew people like you, Jean Grey, Cyclops. they came here by accident once a few friends and I helped them get back. It would have been 7 years ago now." Damian steps forward Ignoring Nightmare, guilt is painted slightly on his face he tries to coax me from the wall. "I'm sorry I knew since the time you showed me, I checked my recorder after that visit and played it back home in front of everyone. I was to find out more from you and report back after we scanned those samples that healed me. When we were ready I was supposed to bring you back with me for interrogation with confirmation of your mother's research." Something snaps inside me and I glare at him.
"So all that was for those stupid journals. Wow, for how long were you faking nice. No, don't tell me it'll just feel worse. " I put a hand on my face willing the emotions of confusion to stop. A crackling noise makes its self known in front of me followed by screams.
"Holy Crap that thing has tentacles coming from its face!"
"Ahh!"
I gasp at the sight Nightmare had gone full flerken and is attempting to drag Damian in. I lunge at Nightmare dragging him across the floor. He lets go of Damian but he hasn't changed back to cat form. "Nightmare No! Calm down I'm fine I swear it! Stop!" The black fuzzball retracts his tentacles and hisses at the crowd.
"I'm sorry, he gets like that when he sees me upset sometimes. Not sure if you have them here but he's half flerken, they look like cats but they're quite deadly." I set Nightmare down and he crawls behind my legs once again hissing particularly at the green boy how has gotten closer, he turns into a green cat making Nightmare run in the process. Damian limps forward his leg is bleeding through his suit. I would let that heal naturally if only wounds inflicted by Nightmares in the flerken form never heal normally on their own.
"Y/N these are the Titans, the one mimicking your," he waves his hand in the air as if to find the world. "flerken is Garfield." He points to Nightmare being chased my the green cat attempting to lose him. The bronze woman glides forward stomping a foot from me the others followed behind.
"Hello my name is Starfire you can call me Kori, this here is Raven," She points to the purple girl then moves her other hands to the boy. "and this is Jaime. We are pleased to have you here Y/N." She grabs my hand pulling me away from the middle of the room where I had landed. "Now let's get you settled in I'll talk to Damian for a bit after." Nightmare notices my leaving and jumps onto my right sholder hissing at the green-skinned boy.
_____________________________________________________________
I honestly don't know how to feel, to be honest, I should have guessed it so it's my fault. I could have left him and then this wouldn't have happened, but then he would have died in my apartment. Could have been more hostile, but then he definitely would have gone with the kidnapping strategy and I would be already in the hand of batman. Now I'm in the known world of their superheroes, the superheroes know about the Crows and they know about the X-gene. That information can go from good to bad in minutes. Though Kori did know about Jean and Scott, though it was years ago they have traveled through many universes with a small team. I would have been about 10 when this happened and my mother didn't take me there for classes till I was 12. In their lectures, they didn't mention anything like this they did bring in Doctor Strange to teach those of us who could understand how to perform magic. I Now I'm sitting on an insanely comfortable bed knees curled up to my chest just reminiscing. I have been told to use my abilities only when necessary as not to attract any unwanted attention. But what did I do, I screw up my chances of living normally till Doc Strange can pull me back only to find I'm not in my home where I should be. Everything was going so smoothly till now.
The door opens behind me and by the almost silent footfalls, I can tell it's Damian. Nightmare has jumped into my arms forcing me to let go off my legs and watch as the boy drags a chair to face me.
"I suppose you want the whole story now," I said barely looking at him.
"I wasn't going to talk about that yet."
"What did you think you would find in the journals that my mother wrote?"
"An answer on how to stop the Crows."
"You most likely will."
"Than what's in them."
I sigh looking him dead in the eye, pulling myself together for this.
"My mother didn't only study history, in my dimension, she studied all sorts of fields one day she was asked to study something and was gone for almost six months. We hardly heard from her but just enough to know she was alive so naturally when she came back she swore me into secrecy. She explained that she had gone to another world entirely, she studies with them and when she came back more time had passed than when she was there. One journal explaining how she got the and how to get in and another explaining what she found, and the rules for everything she experienced there. She learned things no human should know and kept it from the people she worked for and everyone else. She-she found Avalon, lived among the fey in return for her curiosity and genuine interest they helped her make a guide and history of all fairy and Fae both the pure and the equally disturbed." I reach in my bag and pull out the books from missing from the very research my mother so loved. One being ordinary leather-bound and the other two bear a glowing purple gem on both sides of a very purple dark Tome thick and pooling with some sort of energy as the gem. I give him a serious look gripping both books. "She left it to me but I haven't read them yet, I...I couldn't bring myself to. It might be better used in your hands anyway. Though I shouldn't I still trust you for some reason, so under the conditions that you only use what you find for the better of those in need you may find your information. The journals, however, will stay within my sight understood." He nods, I start to give the leather books to him he stops me.
"I don't want to see them before you," He takes the books from my hands and places them back in the bag. "If you are convinced that I should still read them, then I will convince where ever you wish to study them." He sits on the bed next to me staring out the window. "What I want to talk about is how we get Father not to view you as a threat and as a friend. I went over it with Starfire and we both agree this is the best option." He pauses before he continues. "We're you a hero in your world?"
"You want me to do hero's work and gain a positive reputation so that he's more willing to work with me than slowly forcing out of me."
"Yes."
"How do you know about the X-gene?"
"It was in our database from when Jean Grey and Cyclops had visited. They helped take down an invasion of the skrul and took them back with them to their own dimension. Father took some DNA samples to work with and ask about their abilities. There are entire folders on the subject alone." He pauses again running a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault."
"Not for that, for everything else."
"Yes that is very much on you but it's also on me. But if I had left you with Crow poison in your blood you would either turn into an undead flesh puppet in my room or die. That would not have gone down well for either of us. I was also mostly upset you broke my window and wanted compensation," I see him visibly tense and clench his teeth. "and didn't even bother to say thank you."
"I Fixed your awful goddammed window isn't that thanks enough." He glares at me.
"Was it? After all, you did spy on me and report it to the Dark Knight." I fall back onto the bed. "There's no getting out of this now might as well get used to it."
"You shouldn't be this comfortable with what's happening, I wouldn't"
"Then why are you smiling ya weirdo, It's almost creepy."
"Tsk, just hand me your computer so I can pull up Star Trek, I would like to finish and begin the movies." I hand him my laptop and he walks over to the wall in front of the bed.
"Um, you know we watch on that computer you making a get away with."
"Yes but the enormous 4k TV is here." He pushes a button I didn't even see before and as promised a TV appears. He smirks at what I assume is my expression. He opens my computer and within minutes Star Trek is cast on the TV. "Please hold your applause till after the show."
"Did you just make a joke? Are you joking now?"
"Aren't I allowed to have a sense of humor?" I Look at Nightmare who has the same thought in his head and I look back at Damian.
"Nope, Nada, No way."
"You know, you're the only one who has talked to me that way and lived."
"I should consider myself lucky then huh."My gaze falls to his leg, It's poorly bandaged so I pull my scales and Med-kit from my bag. " But before I forget I need to treat your leg before your tissue becomes necrotic. You can watch while I work, but you need to swallow one more of the "glittered plastic"."
_____________________________________________________________
"How do you make them?"
"The scales?" I pause stoping the wrap on the angry-looking tentacle mark on his skin.
"What do you think I was talking about?" I smile evilly.
"I thought you were talking about my jokes and wonderful sense of humor." I tie off the bandage and put away my first aid kit. "But If you must know it has to rain first, and I have to be in it. The acidity in the rain is was caused the scales to form but there has to be enough of it. In Gotham, the rain has plenty of it, It soaks into my skin and drains my health which is why I was sick for so long. In return for taking my health, the scales form with healing agents that even baffle me. Normally I would take one and feel fine after but someone decided to take them."
"Do you pull them off?"
"Takes too long and much too painful, I just pour scalding hot water on myself and they pull away from the skin. I clean them and there you have it. Health restoring scales." He stares at me, like I said I pour milk before cereal and then pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds in that order.
"Aren't there better ways to remove them?"
"Yes, but those are back at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters I couldn't pack it with me so I had to find other methods."
He silent again so I put my stuff in the closet, take my Suit out from the bag, and place it on the hanger, the vibranium fibers shimmer in the soft lights then I stuff the rest of my things in there. I have to tell Professor Xavier what's happened on the check update next week with any luck the multi-functional com-piece found the data by now and I can see what they already know. I inwardly sigh, closing the closet and making my way back to the bed. I see Damian drawn into the scene playing on the screen, Data has made his sacrifice saving the Enterprise. I wasn't expecting to last the cleaning to last that long, but then again the poisons from the suction cups dug deeper than I thought. I put some more things away in drawers even though I didn't have much to bring. "We probably should head to bed, I imagine I have to do a proper introduction and demonstrate some form of my power."
"Yes, probably." He gets up grabbing the two scales I gave him for when he starts feeling pain again. Moving swiftly to the door, he takes one more look back then leaves. My eyes fall on Nightmare who sleeps soundly on the end of the bed. I Climb into the warm comforter letting the warmth surround me. I don't even notice myself drifting till all I can hear is static signaling that tonight was going to be a dreamless one.
_____________________________________________________________
"What exactly can you do?" Starfire walks me down to the center of a metallic room filled with weapons and tools, no doubt the training room. I look around more absorbing the room but still answer the question.
"If I see something I can almost instantly learn it or adapt to it, powers, fighting styles, languages I just have to see or hear it. I've had to control it in order not to learn everything and overload happened one time was not pretty."
"What do you mean by almost instantly?"
"Things like shape-shifting are hard to master, but if I concentrate enough I can alter my physical appearance though it takes five minutes to get there and can't hold the form very well after an hour. The first time I saw someone change form my body tried to copy it but I broke my hand instead. But oddly enough I can learn most other powers and knowledge just fine."
"Really? Well just to check could you copy this?" Starfire lifts her hand and green energy forms around it. I lift my hand to match hers and form the same energy in my body, though not green It's a lilac purple. "Sorry still have trouble getting the colors right." The woman stares in awe at my hand, the knowledge of how to use the ability is stored in my memory. I turn my hand light off and look around. She had given me the tour of the building and probably saved this for last to test what I can do. They did the same at XSFGY and had us fight in the ever-changing challenge/training room. I hear the door open and two cheery voices call out.
"Hey Y/N, about to train?" Garfield, the boy in green calls out from the railing where the door is accompanied by Jamie how still looks half asleep.
"I was just about to test her now, could you all stay there, I'm going to pull the full immersion-based training." She floats to a podium on the far side of the room. the area around me pixelated before stilling into a jungle heat and all. Monsters appear from the undergrowth enough level but not easy looking. I raise two fingers to the sky and strike lightning on them Increasing the voltage when one didn't go down, I even open a few portals in the body to warp holes from the flesh. It took about a few minutes to finish and for the simulation to fall. The dark misty cloud vanishes when I flick my wrist. I hear cheering from the side, I turn to face them everyone was now there.
"No way! Did you just see that!!" Jamie is now wide awake sharing an amazing look with Garfield, Raven is a little shocked, while Damian holds a stoic face. I feel a hand on my shoulder and follow it up to the orange-haired woman. I don't catch that she isn't stopping and is dragging me out of the room. With the way her hand had angled, I dragged out facing the other people in the room. She moves so fast that they get so small to quickly "You did excellently today, I'm so happy to welcome you to the team! We shall celebrate with a feast fit for kings and I shall cook it."
"Wait!"
"Kori!"
"Aw hell no!"
"YOU COOKED THE OTHER DAY!"
They all start running after us, shouting and trying to stop the woman. I feel refreshed after getting the OK for using my powers finally releasing some of the tension I've felt. I feel exhausted though, probably anticipating all the social interactions yet to come.

You say Fae are unable to lie, I’d like to now how this works and how far this goes? Does this only apply to things they themselves believe are true? Also you say Fae are known to be tricky, does this mean they can lie via unconventional means like using cryptic language, omitting key details or in general twist their words to be technically true? Also can a Fae make a promise they have no possible way of fulfilling, since you also say they cannot, since their also bound by promises?
Fae can only speak what they whole-heartedly believe to be true. What they say may or may not be the objective truth, but it's the truth as they know it.
Examples...
Dario, an elven vampire, repeatedly says he's a "kind" and "fair" and "merciful" man. Obviously ain't NONE of that shit true, but he's such a narcissist that he's managed to convince himself that he's a good person. He lives in his own reality that he made up in his head.
Conversely, Lilian says she's "worthless" and "ugly" and so on. None of these things are true either, but she's been abused so much that this has become her reality.
Tarajeen says there's pixie spies living in her walls and that her family and co-workers are conspiring against her. None of this is true, but it's her truth because her mental illness causes her to suffer delusions.
Now, as for making promises...
A fae can't promise to do anything they believe they can't do. Even if they fail to keep that promise for whatever reason, the fact that they made it in the first place means they had every intention to fulfill it.
For example, a fae can't say "I promise I'll take the kids to the park this afternoon" and then just not do it because they don't feel like it. They'll be magically compelled to follow through with it, regardless of how they feel at the time.
There's a scene in Fungicide where Alaine makes Mr. Ocean promise to never enthrall anyone again. He makes this promise to her, meaning from that point forward, he can't enthrall anyone even if he wanted to because he's bound by that promise.
There's also this scene, which speaks for itself and says volumes:
Alaine added, “And promise me that you won’t hate yourself for what you did. That you’ll love yourself despite your past.”
Mr. Ocean paused. “I cannot,” he said.
Alaine furrowed her scaly brow. “How come?”
“Because I am fae, and I cannot speak anything I know to be untrue,” he explained. “I do hate myself for what I’ve done. I’m unable to love myself as I am. Perhaps that day will come in the future, or perhaps not. But I cannot promise absolutes in the face of uncertainty.”
Fae don't make promises lightly. For them, it's a true commitment that they're magically compelled to obey. The only way out of it is to take mind-altering substances to make them forget what they promised (hence why Mr. Ocean does a shit-load of drugs, in an attempt to forget the promise he made to Solveig).
So take that fae who said he'd take his kids to the park earlier...the afternoon is here and he doesn't feel like doing it anymore, so what can he do to wriggle out of it? Slam beer and weed until he can't even remember his own name, much less his promise. Now it's the next day and the promise is broken, therefore he's not bound to it anymore. That's what folks mean when they say fae are "tricky".
As for twisting their words...
No fae can just outright lie (or speak what they believe to be a lie). But say there's a fae who killed someone by slashing them across the throat with a knife, and now the police are questioning her.
"Did you stab him?" they ask.
"No, officer, of course not! I did not stab that man! I'm a fae, I can't lie to you!" she replies.
And she's right. She didn't stab him. She slashed his throat. A person who's inexperienced with fae bullshit might take her word for it and move on, but an experienced person knows to be very specific when questioning fae about anything.
"Did you kill that man?" asks the officer.
"No!" says the fae, because she believes she didn't kill him, the knife did.
The officer is used to this weaselly fae shit and asks, "Ma'am, did you attack that man with the knife?"
The fae doesn't say anything, which is basically a confession.
"Did the man die from his knife wound?" asks the officer.
The fae is cornered. She has no choice but to admit the truth, "Yes."
I hope that explanation makes sense. If you want to see more of this type of fae truth-bending and weasel-wording in action, I recommend Ocean Returns to the Sea, Ghoul Beneath the Guise, and Eat Your Heart Out. All of those stories have some good examples in them.

Salutations, I hope you're doing well. About the "Director's cut" post, can you tell us something about "Luck be a Fickle Thing" or "Bound to you" or "Come fly with me"? I like your works so much I can't really choose between them, thank you so much for all the effort you put in your pieces ✨
I like talking about my fics so here is literally everything that came to mind (written out twice because tumblr kicked me out before I could post it the first time). I could talk for days but that would involve all the spoilers, so here’s a more spoiler-free version.
Luck Be a Fickle Thing
- I have written out the confession scene. I’ve also written a smut chapter but whether or not I actually post it is a toss-up.
- Oscar wasn’t originally in this fic but I thought he was gonna spend more time wandering around Mantle in canon and I couldn’t just leave him there he’s like fifteen that’s basically a toddler. Keep in mind I posted the first chapter before Volume 8 aired.
- While Tai is pretty upbeat and understanding towards Qrow in this fic, I actually think that Canon Tai is annoyed by Qrow at best and absolutely despises him at worst and definitely blames his luck for what happened with Raven and Summer
- To this day I have no timeline in this fic. How long were Qrow and Robyn in prison? How long ago did Qrow write his letter to Tai? How long ago did Clover get stabbed and how long was he in the hospital for? How long were they travelling? I DON’T KNOW AND I DON’T CARE.
- I have submitted an unpublished chapter of this fic for a school assignment and did pretty well on it. As of now it’s my favourite thing I’ve written and I can’t wait to post it when the time comes.
Bound to You
- My headcanon that Clover knows sea shanties that made it into this fic (or at least some chapters that will be posted in the future) have breached containment and have leaked into drafts for other fics. All my iterations of Clover (except for In The Name of Fate for obvious reasons) have the voice of a god.
- I had. So much trouble. Coming up with different species for the kids. Jury is still out on what Pyrrha was. And it’s never stated but all the Schnees are 100% human, all witches, and despite the fact that they view familiars as servants, none of them are bound because they (*cough* Jacques *cough*) believe that their magical powers are above being bound to someone that is less than them.
- I mentioned this in other asks but the kids were originally going to be younger. I was also going to make the fic start off with just after Qrow was bound, so the fic would’ve been them getting to know each other instead of what it is now. The bathtub scene is an example of that, and an older iteration of it might slip itself in sometime in the future.
- “Familiars can’t be bound to fae” is actually just me covering up the plot hole as to why Summer and Qrow were never bound together despite their very strong friendship (I Will Push A Platonic Hummingbird Agenda And You Will Like It). “Raven hasn’t developed a Semblance yet” is also covering the plot hole that she could’ve just teleported to Qrow when he was missing or teleported both her and Oscar back home. Fucking amateur hour.
- My favourite chapter of this fic so far is the conversion between Clover and Summer because you can’t convince me that Trampled Garden/Plucked Flowers/whatever their name is wouldn’t be friends.
Come Fly With Me
- This AU is just an excuse for me to write more birb content. Writing Pretty Bird gave me a taste and I wanted more, so I made my own RT give me the forbidden bird plushie please I beg you
- Bird Clover is my favourite. He’s just so tiny and squishable. And all around good bean. This is a fact and therefore belongs on this list.
- I also have written a smut chapter for this but it’ll never see the light of day because ITS SO BAD. I salvaged the first third of it and started rewriting it for funsies but idk if this is a lost cause. I might not even post the smut even if it was semi-good.
- I was originally gonna make Ironwood a dick the same in canon, but decided that would cut into the bird shenanigans so. No ❤️
- I’m actually debating on whether or not I should have Tai and/or Raven make an appearance in this fic. Probably not, but the idea is there.
Bonus: Here’s my Clover 🍀

Write your RPer Resolutions for 2021! (What are some goals for yourself as a writer? Improve descriptions? Plot with more members? Etc.)
Plotting! Mostly for Edward because the boy needs more to do! He's got an entire life to learn how to live. But, admittedly I have a habit of having two or three threads for a character at a time, which works best for me so far as my plot-intensive habits but not so great at interacting with a wide range of characters. I need to figure out a good midpoint because I have a lot plotted but I'm usually waiting to actually start things.
Win that battle with events. Because the truth is about 70% of my event threads become full fledged discord threads that keep going for weeks after the event. Probably need to work on focusing on specific plans for events in discord rather than scattering myself too much. It's more fun that way but I'm playing catch up a lot after the fact. And while I don't mind that, it probably gets things hung up for other people?
Meet the newer people! I'm slacking a bit on this and need to plot with several of them. Not for lack of wanting to, more for, again, that I have that determination to focus on a handful of threads at a time. Which is fine, except that with the sheer amount of characters in the RP it's going to take me years at this rate to make connections with them. So new people! Focus on them!
Write at least one resolution, or “goal,” that you have as an RPer for your character(s)
Ian: My earnest child, my endearing, emotional, confused boy. How I adore him. How much I put him through some real hell. But the next year is all about Ian growing up some, figuring out what he wants and trying to weed out some of the static of expectations on him. Also very much about him reaffirming his place in relationships, friendships and just with people in general.
I keep mentioning magic so that's a goal; he doesn't like it but he has to learn. And with so many new and upcoming magic connections possible it's the perfect chance to shake up his stubbornness.
Teach this boy how to stop being a hazard on social media. He doesn't even try to cause problems! But every time Ian does anything on Twitter he manages to start an argument - honestly his snarking with Tony doesn't even count but everyone else? Why are you such an instigator Ian! His social media skills are hilariously messy and he's so much with a screen to hide behind. Among Us is a whole other area too. Ian is always in the middle of some bizarre online drama and I love it...but somebody take his phone away though, please.
Edward: My over the top, entranced, confused child. He's so much fun, just so much everything. He's also blindly in motion right now and that's normal for him but not helpful. He's got plots for a job lined up, a few missteps along the way and a lot of the excessive sort of drive he tackles everything with.
I've got to get this boy to slow down a little, he's enjoying it all but responsibility is something Edward struggles with and that's a battle worse than dragons and curses he's going to have to face down.
Write at least one resolution IN CHARACTER for your characters. What do THEY want to accomplish or change in the New Year?
Ian: Struggling to come to terms with his own missteps in understanding himself. Fear has led him to hiding even being an elf and the next year he's determined to reconnect with that, even as nervous as he is to approach the idea of exposure given his childhood being so riddled with prejudice. The way he's handled some things have been wrong and he's starting to reach the emotional maturity to understand that.
Edward: As hilariously weird as it is? Edward is determined to learn enough about modern fashion to not require poor Barbie to pick out all his clothes. He feels bad asking her to basically dress him for every event. As much as he appreciates it he really does want to learn to do these things by himself.
List one or more characters you have never interacted with that you would like to do so.
Everyone my boys haven't met? Can I say that?
I guess more specifically? Ian needs to meet some of the more seasoned sorcerers out there, and I'd love for him to meet Howl because only knows of him but still finds him so intimidating. Ha.
Edward needs to meet more Magicks! He is fascinated by magic so he is very curious. I'd actually like for him to meet Marlin, because...fae and that's something Edward hasn't realized is real yet, and that man would probably find him frustrating. Same thing for Jun; really need to see Edward asking poor Jun a million questions around the market.
Plotting Exercise! Pick one of the resolutions/goals in #2 and plan a rough guide outlining it.
Vanessa's less than helpful (but admittedly effective) attempt to teach Ian what should be a simple spell.
Ian's complaints over his lack of ability to control magic gains the attention of Vanessa, who still is confused over his odd regents.
Vanessa convinces him (a bit forcefully) to let her show him a simple spell. Her end goal of course is bringing this weird boy into the coven she's building but first things first, right?
After demonstrating, several times, a basic telekinetic motion spell - Ian assures her that telekinesis is in fact where most of his magic lies - she urges him to try.
None of his attempts go anywhere. Literally. The glass he's supposed to be moving off the table in the common area outside the dorms where they've opted to practice this spell in doesn't move an inch.
Vanessa gets progressively more frustrated. Ian just stresses worse, leaving them both at a standstill. This becomes an ongoing project; day after day for weeks. No foreseeable end in sight.
Finally, a few weeks in, Vanessa hits a breaking point and can't help but yell at him over it, setting off a panic attack and, amusingly, causing his magic to flare defensively; the lash of it knocks the table across the room. The glass still doesn't move, aside from falling to the ground.
But it's close enough to a victory and Vanessa appoints herself to helping Ian with his ongoing magic studies, much to the inward dismay of Ian himself. But she isn't going to let him slink out of it.
Ian reluctantly adds yet another person 'helping' him to the list of ones who really do mean well but also kinda exhaust him.

So I got drunk and said I was ace. The funny thing is that none of my classmates believed me and it pisses me off when I try to convince someone that I really am ace like??? Why can't u accept me like that? Why do you have to hesitate and ask me weird questions or say I haven't found the right person? Why do I have to explain myself? It's frustrating to know that people in general don't knowshit about asexuality but that doesn't stop them to make me feel less valid with all their stupid opinions
I totally get it. I’ve a lot of people who didn’t ‘believe me’ when I said I was ace. Those who think I’m not ace because I’ve dated before, or because I’ve had sex before, or even those who don’t believe asexuality is real.
