“(y/n) of the Jabari Tribe, your council is sought by the leaders of the Golden Tribe.” A warrior of a lower rank requests.
“Permission to leave,” I ask of M’Baku who’s slumped in his chair.
“Yes, yes.” He says dismissing me with a wave of his hand before continuing the meeting that was interrupted by the announcement. This has happened multiple times now, Shuri summons me to her home for unimportant reasons.
Grabbing hold of my sword I hop down from the platform I was standing on and I follow the warrior out of the room. He leads me out of the building and towards the hangar.
“I can escort myself, thank you,” I say, a serious, authoritative tone in my voice. It’s hard to get taken seriously when you’re only 17, a woman and the warriors ranked below you are all taller and older than you. But he nods before exiting.
I make my way to my speeder, yes I know sounds like some science fiction but it’s not, Shuri designed it for me. Quickly, I mount it and fly to the Golden Tribe’s palace. I drop off my speeder in their hangar before announcing myself to the guards. They lead me through the building and to the lab even though I already know the way.
“You requested my presence?” I ask bowing to Shuri slowly before standing up straight.
“Yes, my love. Come here.” She says waving me towards what I assume is a new creation of hers. She starts explaining about the small object, a bracelet of beads by the looks of it. She ties it around my wrist and explains what it does and how it will help keep me safe.
“Princess, I am on duty, you cannot keep calling me over when you are not in danger or there is no reason of importance,” I say and she looks disappointed.
“But I miss you in the day. You’re always so busy!” She says.
“I’ll come back later when I’m off-duty,” I say trying to appease her.
“Ugh fine.” She says, begrudgingly.
“Do you need anything else, princess?” I ask bowing again.
“Yes, actually.” She points to her cheek and I sigh but walk over anyway. I kiss her on the cheek before leaving the room.
“You look very pretty today, goodbye, my love,” I say before heading back to my post in the mountains.
The rest of the day is fairly calm, not much happens apart from the usual security at M’Baku’s meetings. Otherwise, it’s an easy day although the time that I relax will be the time I’m caught off guard.
Taking off my armour, I place it on the armour stand before pulling on some more casual clothes, a mesh bodysuit with a pair of black trousers and chunky boots - not the most practical but great for kicking people with.
Heading towards the Golden Tribe palace for the second time this day I suddenly hear a voice from the beaded bracelet, jumping slightly I’m awakened by it.
“(y/n), are you almost here?” Shuri’s voice sounds through the beads.
“Shuri? I that you?” I ask holding the beads in front of my mouth, my mind completely ‘boggled’.
“Yes, my lover, it is me. You need not hold the beads so close to your mouth.” She says with a chuckle.
“Why are you in the beads?” I ask shaking my wrist.
“I am not in the beads, I promise. It’s a telecom like in the fighter jets.”
“Okay, if you’re sure…” I trail off.
“So, are you almost here?” She asks again.
“Yes, I’ll be with you in mere minutes, be patient, my dear.” I say before tapping the beads trying to ‘hang up’.
“Excellent.” She says before a small beep sound is made and her voice disappears. Pulling up to my ear I shake it once more before shrugging and moving on.
Minutes later I arrive at the same palace and I’m escorted in once again by two guards.
“(y/n)?” I hear a voice from in front of me.
“King T’Challa,” I say before kneeling on one knee and bowing my head, the guards behind me do the same.
T’Challa chuckles. “Surely, we are past this now, are we not (y/n)?”
“I don’t know what you mean,” I say with my head bowed still.
“There is no need for you to kneel and bow to me, are we not better friends than that, how long have you been dating Shuri? 2, or 3 years? Come on now, surely we moved past these formalities a while ago.” He says with a laugh, holding his hand out to me.
I take it hesitantly with a gracious smile. “I guess so, King T’Challa.”
“Just T’Challa, please.” He says before shaking my hand and looking behind me. “Do they not let you in here unaccompanied?” He says and I shake my head. “Well, from now on (y/n) does not need to be accompanied within my home, it is safe and I trust her.” He says to the guards and almost immediately they retreat back to the main doors. “Do you mind if I walk with you?” Placing his hands behind his back.
“Of course not.” We continue walking towards the laboratory.
Conversation is made, the usual ‘how are you’s and ‘how’s work’, the usual until we make it to the lab.
“(y/n) finally!” I hear as soon as I step foot in the lab, the next thing I see is her running towards me. She wraps her arms around me.
“Shuri, as adorable as this is moment is, give the woman some space.” He chuckles.
“Go away brother, why are you even here?” She asks, jokingly grimacing at him.
“I’ll leave, I’ll leave.” He says placing his hands in the air in a mock surrender before backing away towards the door. “I don’t want to interrupt you two.”
“Yes, get out of my lab!” She yells as he opens the door and leaves.
“I missed you today, my love.” I say as she’s still gripping onto me. “I’m guessing you did as well.”
“Of course,” She pulls away from me but stays holding onto my hand.  “Come on, I’ve got something extra for you.”
She picks something small off of the side and places it into my hand and closes my palm. Re-opening my palm I inspect the two small objects against my skin. Two earrings it looks like, they’re made of a pale blue gem like material with metal coatings. They’re beautiful.
“They match your bracelet and they work very similarly - they have qualities that help track you and protect you.”
“They are really pretty.” I say admiring them.
“Try them on.” she says, leading me over towards one fo the full body mirrors. I change out my old ones which are plain balls of metal whilst the new ones are blue gems. Checking myself in the mirror, I look at the earrings and how well they match my outfit before turning to Shuri.
“They’re beautiful. I love you.” I say, kissing her gently.
“Thank you, I couldn’t make a second pair in time for your arrival so that’s my pair, you can have them, they’ll keep you safe.” I shake my head.
“You are the princess, sister of the king, you need to be safe and protected, I am a warrior I’m of no high status and am a target of little persecution - you need these more than me.” I say starting to take out the earrings.
“No, no, (y/n), you don’t need to, I’ll be able to make a second pair sometime tomorrow and I’ll be safe until then.”
“Who is gonna keep you safe until then?”
“You, I guess you’re staying the night babe unless you want to leave me entirely defenceless. What would I do without you?” She says with a smirk before pecking me on the lips.

AN: I just saw Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and I'm in love with everyone in the movie all over again.
This a reminder that Shuri is at a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 19 so please don't be creepy and read this if you're like 30 - I am a minor and so is the character. In this fic specifically, Shuri is either 16 or 17 so just don't be creepy.

lion & lioness
title: lion & lioness
pairing: erik killmonger x fem!reader
summary: erik takes the heart-shaped herb and sees his lost lover.
word count: 1k
warnings: reader death
a/n: i’m now taking requests for killmonger so feel free to send in your requests <3
Tumblr media
As the new king of Wakanda, it is ritual for Erik to drink the essence of the heart-shaped herb and to speak with his ancestors. But as the searing power of the herb ran through his veins, he felt himself arriving at a place other than his childhood home.
When he opened his eyes, Erik found himself at the edge of a lake, in a forest that he recognizes. The creatures of the night sang their songs-- crickets and insects chirped, the nocturnal birds trilled, and the wind lapped at the lake water. The night was full of life under the illuminating light of the full moon.
Erik craned his head back to take in the sight of the moon. A soft breeze blew past Erik, and a scent caressed his nose-- a familiar scent.
A moment later, Y/N materialized a few feet in front of him, wearing a sheer gown made of white silk.
“My King.” Y/N beckoned, with a proud smile on her face. Erik’s eyes filled with a mix of love and heartbreak. He broke the distance and pounced on her, wrapping his arms around her in a bone-crushing embrace.
His tears were seeping through her translucent gown, and Y/N ached at the sight of his pain.
Y/N pulled back just enough to see his face. When she cupped his cheeks with her hands, he noticed that they were not cold, but they held the same warmth that they always did when she was still with him. This fact only made him cry more.
“You’ve come so far, N’Jadaka. You’ve done it.”
It was true, their whole lives were spent fighting for this one moment-- the moment where Erik was crowned king of Wakanda; where he was revered as the true Black Panther.
But before he was the Black Panther, they were Lion & Lioness. Hearts and souls bound as one.
“I need you by my side.” Desperation laced Erik’s voice, his eyes pleading with her.
“As long as the moon is out, I am with you.” She momentarily took her eyes off him to gaze up at the moon, and the moon reflected in her wide eyes.
Erik’s expression shifted from one of despair to one of bitterness.
This was injustice-- his whole life was an act of injustice-- and Erik swore to avenge each and every action done to him, starting with burning the sacred garden of the heart-shaped herb.
Y/N knew that face, she knew exactly what it meant when Erik’s eyebrows furrowed and his usual scowl deepened.
“If you burn those flowers, you cut off our connection.”
Immediately, Erik felt a moment of pain that he would feel if he did burn those flowers-- it was scorching pain, like someone took a rod of fire and ran it through his chest before dragging it down his torso and cutting him in half. But that was only the start of the pain, what came next was indescribably worse.
After the initial wave of hell, he was left hollow. He was an empty shell of a man.
He did not remember happiness. He could not recall love.
He couldn’t even remember the original reason for why he became king in the first place.
In that single, simulated moment, Erik was no longer himself. He was merely a ghost.
The feeling washed over him as quickly as it came and he was brought back to the present-- his arms around Y/N as she stared into his eyes, experiencing every emotion with him.
Erik was silent, but he knew better than to burn those flowers. He wouldn’t dare cut off a connection like theirs.
“Secondly, your heir…” Y/N’s words trailed off and she brought a hand to her stomach. Erik’s eyes followed her hand and was stunned. He gently kneeled in front of her, and placed his hand over her stomach. He pressed a kiss on the baby bump.
He then got back up, asking how many months she had left.
“Soon.” Y/N smiled a bit wider when she saw Erik’s impatient expression.
Before he could get another word in, Y/N gave Erik a chaste kiss on his cheek.
“Good luck, N’Jadaka. Your story is only beginning.”
---
Erik’s body shot up, his chest heaving as he attempted to regulate his breathing.
---
Months would pass since that night and there was a significant shift in Erik’s ruling. What was once a war-hungry dog, has now turned into a protector of his nation.
But recently, something has been eating away at Erik. A gnawing feeling was twisting and churning every moment he was alone. He was restless at night and was suffering from insomnia.
It was another night in a string of sleepless-nights, but this time he was called to the window. Erik looked up at the indigo sky, a full moon gazed back at him.
Tonight was one year since Y/N’s passing.
Erik closed his eyes and bowed his head towards the moon.
“Rest easy, my Queen.”
When he opened his eyes, he witnessed a shooting star race across the sky-- it flew across the moon and seemed to be inching closer and closer towards the castle.
Erik’s body acted before his brain could catch up and he bolted down to the castle entrance.
Outside the entrance sat a baby wrapped in white silk. Erik picked up the swaddled baby and recognized the texture of the cloth immediately-- it was the same cloth Y/N wore when he last saw her.
Holding up the baby in the moonlight, Erik was able to see the striking resemblance to Y/N.
As he was admiring the baby, a name was whispered in his ear.
Leona.
And that was what the heir to the Wakandan throne was called.
Leona Stevens; Lion at heart; born of royal blood.
The next day, the royal courts would rejoice at this news. The elders were not appalled by the appearance of this heir, they were rather fascinated that they have lived long enough to see this phenomenon happen in front of their very eyes.
Kings come and go, but nothing could ever dispute Erik’s bloodright of being king since he has been gifted by the gods with an heir.
Leona’s birth would be celebrated for the next week. She would be revered as the Snow Leopard, for her rare birth and the even rarer occurrence of having an heir blessed by Bast herself.
“Leona!” Wakanda chanted. “Daughter of King N’Jadaka and Queen Y/N; Princess Leona, the Snow Leopard!”

Her Girl
Pairings: Shuri Udaku x Fem!Reader
Summary: The request!
Word Count: 4,606
Warnings: Physical & Verbal Abuse
Tumblr media
Second Person POV:
"Hi, my love. How was it?" Shuri asked as you approached her. She was leaning against her car, waiting to pick you up from your college class.
You had walked to campus this morning since it was close to where you lived with your father, and you planned to just walk back home after class.
But Shuri texted you asking if she could pick you up once you finished taking the midterm so she could take you out for lunch, and then maybe spend some more time with you.
It took some convincing before you agreed, because you knew your dad probably wanted you home after testing.
However, Shuri kept saying that you deserved a reward. Saying that the way you overworked yourself wasn't good for you. So you decided to go with her to make her happy.
"It was okay. Just nervous for the results." you responded, letting her peck your lips before she smiled down at you.
"Between all the time you spent studying on your own, and the hours you put into those flash cards you made me read to you, I know you did just fine. You knew everything like the back of your hand." she tried to comfort the nerves you had.
You've never actually done bad on a test, or failed one per se. With the amount of pressure put on you by your father, there's no way you'd allow yourself to fail. But in his book, if you didn't get an A, then you failed.
Nothing more, nothing less.
So you're hard on yourself when it comes to your academics to avoid his "consequences" of failing.
"Yeah, I guess so." you forced out a light chuckle to not only convince her, but also yourself. "I also got my grade back for our last project a few days ago. The one I was doing when you stayed on the phone with me all night while I was working."
"Anddd how'd you do?" she asked.
You sighed, "I got a B. An eighty-five percent."
"Why do you look so glum? That's awesome, baby! I'm so proud of you!" she said with a big grin pulling you in for a hug.
"I don't know. I thought I would get higher than that." you said.
That wasn't a total lie. You did expect to get higher considering all of the work you put into it. But you mostly had that look on your face because you were worried about what your father would say when you finally told him. You wouldn't tell Shuri that, though.
"Well you still did really good." she looked at you with a small smile after you pulled away from the hug.
"Is there anything you're craving to eat, or do you just want to head over to your favorite spot?" she questioned, taking your bag from you and putting it in the backseat.
"That's fine. You know if you let me choose something else then you'll be waiting hours for my decision." you said and she laughed.
"Okay, princess, let's go then." she smiled, walking over to open the passenger side door for you.
~~~
When you got there, you ordered your food and it just arrived. You both thanked the waitress and started to eat, talking about whatever came to mind.
"So besides studying, what have you been up to at home? I feel like recently I've only gotten to talk to you when I help you study over at the palace, or when we're on the phone late at night. I haven't gotten to actually see you." she spoke, taking a bite of her food.
"I guess nothing much really. I really need to do good on these, so I was reviewing my notes a lot. I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you feel neglected or anything like that." you apologized to her.
That is true, but it's not the whole truth. Of course you wouldn't tell her about everything that's been going on at home.
You couldn't.
"No baby, that's okay I understand. I was just a little worried about you because I know how you get around testing week. You forget to eat, and then you hardly sleep. I just wanna make sure you're okay." she gently reassured you.
You gave her the small smile that she adored so much, "I'm okay." you answered and she nodded her head. "I wanna talk about you now." you said and she chuckled.
"How's that project with Riri going?" you asked.
"It's coming along slowly but surely. I think we're gonna put it on hold for a while so she can focus on her classes a little bit more." she replied.
You nodded understandingly, continuing to talk about her work and her projects over the meal you were sharing. You missed having moments like these with her.
You forgot how much she made you laugh and smile whenever you were with her because when important test came around, you tend to forget about everything but studying.
She was always so understanding and patient with you because she knew she could be the same way when it came to her science stuff. However, she couldn't help but feel curious as to why you were so hard on yourself.
You both knew how smart you were so there was no need for you to stress, yet you still did for some reason.
That's why she wanted to take you out today. Yes, she wanted to spend time with you, but she also wanted to reward you for all the hard work you've been doing over the past few weeks.
A little while later, the waitress came back to put the bill on the table. You grabbed it and went to look at it until Shuri spoke up.
"Darling, no. What're you doing?" she questioned with a frown, reaching over the table to try and take the bill from you, but you pulled your hand back.
"It's my turn to pay." You answered and started to get your wallet, but Shuri refused.
"No it's not. I brought you here, so I'm paying." she took her wallet out of her pocket and tried to grab the piece of paper from you, but you just held it further out of her reach.
"Stop," she whined, watching you look through your wallet. "Baby, I'm serious. You're not paying."
"Please? I want to.” you said with a pout on your face.
"Baby, no. I'm actually gonna be upset if you pay, seriously stop." she spoke in a stern, but gentle voice.
"Fine." you finally let her take the paper out of your hand. She pulled her card out and handed it to the waitress along with the bill when she came back.
When she looked over at you, you were sulking which made her smile, “I love you, princess."
You playfully rolled your eyes, "I love you too."
After the waitress returned with her card, you both left the restaurant and got in her car.
"I was thinking we could go back to the palace and maybe watch a movie or something. It doesn't really matter to me, I just want to spend more time with you." she suggested, starting the car.
You sighed, "Shuri, my dad is still probably waiting for me. I told him I'd be home right after I was done testing."
"Y/N, you're an adult. You can make your own choices, and I'm sure he won't mind. We can just lay around for a few hours, and then I'll bring you home. Please?" she pleaded.
You looked hesitant to answer, so she continued to try and convince you.
"My mother has been asking about you nonstop too, so she'll finally leave me alone." she chuckled, looking at you with hopeful eyes.
You wanted nothing more than to go with her, but you knew your dad would be upset at you for getting home later than he wanted, and you'd be in even more trouble considering the grade you got on your project.
You couldn't avoid him for forever, so you thought it'd be better to just get it over with now rather than later.
You looked away from her gaze, "I can't." you said, and you could see the way her face visibly saddened.
"I'll make it up to you, but I'm just really tired." you added, trying to make up an excuse so that you didn't hurt her feelings.
She nodded her head, starting to drive off, "That's alright, I understand. We all need a little extra rest sometimes, right?" she spoke, wanting you to know that it was okay even though she was a little disappointed.
You hummed a small agreement, "I'm sorry."
"There's no need to apologize, darling. It's okay." she responded, reaching over to rest her hand on your thigh in a reassuring manner.
When you got to your house, she pulled up in front of it and put the car in park, "Can we call later?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'll call you after I take a short nap." you answered, opening the door to get out.
"Okay, I love you." she said with a small smile.
"I love you too." you repeated, closing the car door. She made sure you got inside the house before driving off.
You walked through the door and your eyes had to adjust to the darkness. The only light being whatever sunlight peaked out from behind the curtains, and the glow illuminating from the television in the living room.
You assumed that's where your dad was, but you didn't get the chance to check because when he heard the front door open and close, he popped up from the couch.
When he saw you standing there, he quickly walked to you, slapping you across the cheek hard when you were within arms reach. The force of the slap turned your head to the side. It all happened so fast, it caught you off guard.
He grabbed a paper off of the counter and held it up, "What the hell is this." he questioned harshly.
When you didn't look up, he just became more aggressive, "Answer me dammit!" he raised his voice.
You flinched and lifted your head, trying to get a good look at the paper. Your eyes flashed with anxiety when you realized it was the grade you had gotten for your last project. The one you got an eight-five percent on. The one you got a B on, and not an A.
"I-It was my grade f-for my last project." you quickly stuttered out.
He lightly chuckled, turning away from you. You knew he wasn't laughing because he thought this was funny, it was something he did that told you he was furious.
"What in your right mind made you think that it was acceptable to bring that home." he spoke, facing you once again
"I-I don't know, I'm sorry. I tried, I really did." you stammered, squeezing your eyes shut when he back you into the wall.
"That's all you have to say? You tried? What, is that gonna be your excuse for now on?! There are no excuses in this household, there is only discipline because you clearly aren’t understanding!" he continued to shout in your face.
Tears were streaming down your cheeks, and you brought your hands up to cover your face, a measly attempt to hide from him.
But he harshly gripped your wrists, prying your hands away from your face despite your resistance,"Look at me when I'm speaking you!"
"Stop it, you're hurting me!" you cried out over the cruel words that continued to spill from his mouth.
"Losing is a habit, and habits must me fixed." he said before slapping you once again, "Do you think I spent all of this money on you your whole life to see grades like these?!"
When he was finally done yelling at you after what felt like hours, he let go of your wrists and threw the paper at your face, "Where the hell have you been? Why are you just now getting home?" he asked in a strict voice.
"I-I was out w-with Shuri. We went to get lunch because we haven't spent much time together these last few weeks." you quickly answered.
Shuri met your father the first time she drove you home at the beginning of your relationship. You caught him on a good day, so she got to meet the kind, father-like side of him.
But he's gotten worse since then, and there are no good days for him anymore. So that was the first, and last time you'd ever let them meet. You don't want her to have to worry about you.
"Shuri? Well if you think you can just go out and do whatever you want now all of a sudden, then that midterm score better be absolutely flawless. Do you understand?" he pointed his finger at you to emphasize his words.
You nodded your head, but it obviously wasn't good enough for him because he marched over to you and backhanded the same side of your face he had hit multiple times earlier, "I said do you understand?" he spoke quietly, but sternly into your ear.
"Yes, sir." you mumbled, keeping your head down.
He walked away from you, muttering stuff under his breath. You stood there for a few seconds trying to process everything that just happened before picking the paper up off the floor, and making your way to your bedroom.
You set your stuff down, and moved to stand in front of the mirror hung on the closet door. You turned your head to the side, brushing your fingers across the bruise that was starting to form on your cheek.
You sighed, knowing that you were going to have to cover that up the next time you went out. You kicked your shoes off before climbing into bed, silently crying yourself to sleep.
~~~
Shuri's POV:
I arrived back at the palace, parking the car and making my way inside, "Hey, mom." I said when I ran into my mother on the way to my lab.
"Hello, Shuri. Where's Y/N? I thought you said you were gonna bring her back with you." she questioned, noticing that my girlfriend wasn't by my side.
"She was tired, so I just took her home. She said she'll call me later so I'll let you talk then if you want." I answered.
"No, that's alright I don't want to take away from your time with her. I know you haven't gotten to see her much lately, so i'm okay with waiting until she visits again." she responded.
"Thanks." I spoke with a forced smile.
She must've noticed because she tilted her head to the side, "What's the matter?" she asked with a slight frown on her face.
I shook my head, "Nothing. I was just gonna go work on that project for a while." I replied, continuing my walk to the lab.
Whenever I need alone time to just think, I'll work in the lab. Most of the time, I'm thinking about things I need to do and responsibilities I have to take care of, but this time I'm thinking about Y/N.
She's so hard on herself, but she's way too smart to have to worry about her grades this much. Not to mention how she was basically avoiding spending time with me, her girlfriend. She might've actually been tired, but she's already been very distant lately since she was stressed about her classes.
I didn't really know what to think. I love her so, so much, but I just wished she would talk to me about stuff more often. I want to be able to help her whether it's getting her out of the house, or just being with her.
I was brought out of my thoughts by a voice, "Hellooo? Earth to Shuri." I recognized it as Riri's voice.
Turning my head, I saw her standing in the doorway, "Oh, hey. Sorry, I was just concentrating." I apologized for not noticing her presence sooner.
"Concentrating on what?" she questioned, approaching me to look at what I was doing.
"Just that one part of the project I didn't finish earlier." I answered and she nodded her head.
She stood there silent for a few seconds, reading my facial expressions before speaking, "You look like you have something else on your mind besides your work. Has something happened?"
I raised an eyebrow, but still kept my focus on what I was doing, "Did my mother send you?"
She sighed, nodding her head as she moved to lean on the table, "Yeah, she did. And now I can see why. Looks like whatever happened with Y/N was...bad?" she said, trying to gain knowledge of the situation.
I huffed, "No, it wasn't bad. I just feel like she's been distant. I understand how she was busy with studying during test week, but that's over now, and we still can't spend time together. First, she said her father wanted her home, and then she said she was tired." I took a deep breath, and Riri just listened.
"I don't know. Maybe she's getting tired of me?" I voiced, setting down the tool I was working with.
"Woah, okay now, let's not jump to conclusions like that quite yet. Have you talked to her about it?" she questioned.
"Not really. Whenever I try to talk about what's going on in her life and things like that, she changes the subject." I walked around the room, clicking on different screens as I spoke.
"Okay, well maybe start with that. There must be a reason for her doing that, so talk to her. That might be what she needs too. Someone to talk to." Riri suggested.
I stopped working for the first time during this whole conversation, "You're right."
She chuckled, "I always am, aren't I?"
"That's debatable." I playfully rolled my eyes, "We're supposed to call later, so I guess I'll ask her about it then."
"Tell me how it goes? I know you guys will be fine, though." she reassured me.
I gave her a small smile, "I will, thanks." I said before she walked out of the lab, leaving me to continue my work.
~~~
I've been waiting for Y/N to call me for hours now. It was almost 9:00pm, and I listened to my phone ring one last time before it went to her voicemail for the fifth time. I was worried, but tried to think of some of the possibilities, like she's just taking a really long nap, or maybe her phone died.
But as it got later and later without hearing from her, I decided to just go check on her to make sure she was okay. Even when she's busy, she was always good with answering her phone, so that's why I was concerned.
I got in my car and drove over to her house. When I parked, I noticed that there wasn't a single light on which wasn't I guess wasn't unusual considering how late at night it was. But I still wanted to make sure Y/N was okay before I could settle down for the night.
I walked up the front steps and knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answer. When almost a minute passed with no answer, I knocked again. A few seconds later, the door opened, revealing Y/N.
When she saw me, a look of panic flashed over her face, "Shuri? It's almost ten o'clock, what're you doing here?" she spoke in a hushed voice.
"I was coming by to check on you because you never called." I explained, putting my hands in the pockets of my jacket.
"Um yeah, about- about that. My- my phone died earlier, and my charger wasn't working..." she stammered out in the same quiet volume.
"Oh, that's fine. I was just worried about you because you never answered any of my calls or texts. Why are you whispering? Are you okay?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows, faintly noticing something on the side of her face.
But it was already difficult enough to see anything considering how dark it was outside, so I just brushed it off.
"Yeah I'm- I'm fine. My dad is already asleep, and I was about to just do some extra credit work because I couldn't sleep. Probably wasn't the best idea to take that nap earlier." she answered with a light chuckle.
I nodded my head in understanding, "Well if you can't sleep, do you wanna go back to the palace with me? You can spend the night, of course."
She turned to look behind her as if she was checking for something, and then looked back at me, "I don't know, Shuri. It's pretty late." she said, hesitation very present in her voice.
"Come on, baby. Please? I miss having you in my arms." I begged and she sighed, "This can be your way of making it up to me for earlier." I added.
She stood there for a moment responding, "Okay, just wait here for a second. I'm gonna go grab some things real quick." she said and I smiled brightly, nodding my head before she disappeared back inside.
Second Person POV:
You quietly made your way back to your room so that you didn't wake up your father, and packed a small bag of things you'd need for tomorrow.
When you went back outside where Shuri was still waiting, you got in the car with her and she started the drive back to the palace. But what you didn't realize was that you forgot to cover the visible bruise on your face.
Being so mentally tired, it had slipped your mind. You had gotten lucky earlier because the darkness outside affected her ability to see. But that luck obviously wouldn't last for much longer.
After arriving at the palace, Shuri led the way to her room and turned on the light. You set down your bag and started taking off your shoes when she began to speak.
"Do you wanna stay up and watch a movie or are you starting to feel tired-" she cut herself off in shock when you lifted your head to look at her.
Now that she finally got a good look at you, she saw the bruise on your cheek, "Oh my god, baby, what happened?!" she hurried over to you.
"Hm? What do you mean?" you asked, confused. But you realized what she was talking about when her hands gently cupped your cheek, looking at the side of your face.
"Shit." You thought.
You weren't planning on going anywhere tonight, so you had forgotten about the mark. However, it was too late now.
"Did someone do this to you?" she questioned, shifting her gaze to look you in the eyes.
You quickly responded, "No- no one did this to me. I- I just...fell." you mentally face palmed at the poor excuse you came up with.
She knew you were lying from the nervous look in your eyes, and the way you were stuttering.
"Princess, don't lie to me. Please, just tell me the truth so I can help you." she spoke softly, stroking her thumb under the injury.
Help you. You didn't want her to have to help you. She has more important things to worry about than a girl with daddy issues because of her academic performance.
But she thought the exact opposite.
There was not a single concern running through her mind at the moment that wasn't you, because you were the most important thing to her. You were her girl.
During the time you spent thinking about your next words with her eyes staring into yours, tears started slowly rolling down your face.
You shook your head, "You can't help me." you whispered.
"Why not?" she asked desperately. "Talk to me, my love."
You moved your gaze to look at anything but her, "It's just the way he is. As long as I'm in school, and probably even after I graduate, he'll always be like this."
"Who? Who is he?" her eyebrows furrowed.
You looked back into her eyes, and the look that was held in them said everything that she needed to know, "Your dad?" she said shock, and you nodded.
"Your dad did this to you?" she repeated.
You nodded once again, "He's made it seem like he's only proud of kids who bring home A's on every test. The second I bring home anything less, he flips out." you quietly confessed.
Her jaw clenched at your words, "I don't care who he is, no one puts their hands on you. Your own father especially. I swear I'm gonna-" she began, starting to pull away from you but you stopped her.
"No," you said, and she turned to look down at you, "Please don't go." you whimpered out and her gaze softened while her heart broke seeing you this vulnerable.
"Okay. Okay, I won't go. I'm here, darling." she said, gently pulling you into a tight embrace.
She held you for a few minutes before remembering the injury you had, "We should get some ice for that bruise on your face." she suggested, but you shook your head against her chest.
"Tomorrow. I just want you to hold me right now." you said and she complied.
"Let's lay down then, yeah? That's probably gonna be more comfortable than standing." she voiced, and you let her guide you to her bed.
She laid down and allowed you to curl up to her however you wished. Her arm immediately wrapped securely around you while your head rested on her chest.
You sat in comfortable silent for a few minutes until she spoke up, "Why didn't you tell me before?"
You were so quiet that anyone would've thought you had fallen asleep if you didn't respond a few seconds later, "I didn't want you to worry. You have an entire country to take care of, so I tried to just deal with it myself." you explained.
"Love, you can always come to me no matter what. I don't care if I have a million priorities to keep up, you'll always be my number one. I don't want you to ever think that you have to go through anything alone." she responded, rubbing her hand up and down your back in a comforting manner.
You sighed, "I guess I was just scared. Scared of bothering you, and of what he might do if he found out that I told someone."
"Well you don't ever have to go back there. I can stop by and pick up your stuff whenever he's not home, and you can stay here with me." she spoke and you looked up at her.
"Really?" you said.
She nodded her head, "Of course, princess. And I bet my mother will be thrilled to hear that you're staying. I think she loves you more than she loves me." she chuckled, and you giggled.
Her heart fluttered at the sound of your laugh. It never failed to make her heart soar.
"I love you, Shuri." you said with a content sigh, letting your eyes fall shut.
"I love you too, beautiful." She looked down at you with adoring eyes. "Griot, turn the lights off." she told the A.I, and he did as asked.
She lightly scratched you back, watching you relax in her arms and drift off before falling asleep herself.
Lucky woman
Shuri Udaku x wakandan fem reader
Tumblr media
Summary: while in the market grabbing some fruit before a date with your soon-to-be wife a woman approaches you and Shuri isn't too fond of other women obviously flirting with you.
Snippet from the fic: “ "I think I was very nice about the situation I could have acted how you would have acted" ”
Everyone knows you're Shuri's woman she's not secretive about it she refuses to be secretive kissing you and gifting you every time she gets the chance. Shuri is a very busy woman but never too busy for you she always finds time to cut you in which means anywhere and anyplace. Being with Shuri means eyes are on you all the time wondering if you're fit for the title of queen and wondering if the queen herself will let you go. Wandering eyes are always watching you whether it be because you're beside their Queen or they're waiting for the moment for you to be away from Shuri. You are not a stranger to many people's eyes.
You and Shuri rarely have time to enjoy the simple things in life but when you do it consists of going to the market buying a shit ton of fruit and sitting on the beach.
You two were separated only a second ago when someone hands you a mango "oh thank you" you reply kindly but their hand lingers on yours when you take the fruit. "You're the soon-to-be queen" you cringe at the title at first endearing now it holds other meanings. "Y/n but yes" the woman nods "queen Shuri is one lucky woman" you nod as you continue picking fruit from the baskets "indeed she is talented, smart, and ambitious" the woman nods "while all of that is true that's not what makes her lucky woman." You glance at the woman in confusion "oh really? Then what does?" She smiles and as if your words are the consent she needs she eyes you in your fitted dress her eyes take in every curve and every dip of your body. "You. She's got the most beautiful woman in all of Wakanda she is truly talented to have gotten you to herself." You can't help the smile that grows on your face "Uhm yes" you laugh a bit out of embarrassment you could never tell a lie this woman knows how to play her cards right and you admire that. Shuri's not too fond of someone eyeing her girl like she's some piece of meat or making her laugh all nervously so she's quick to approach you both. Her walk is full of power it's something she emits well. It's something you've always been very fond of.
Shuri suddenly grabs your lips in what you think will be a sweet and short kiss but she doesn't stop causing you to gasp and go weak in the knees. Your lips parting gives her the room to deepen the kiss and pull you close your body sinks into hers when you pull away she's smiling and you're just staring trying to regain the strength that she just knocked out of you. "Mmm sthandwa (my love)" you hum in return the woman is amazed by Shuri's boldness. "The elders" she nods "I respect them with my heart but you I respect with my soul. They'll be fine." She shrugs and you smile as you gently play with her shirt. "Oh, it was nice meeting you..." You wait for a name but don't receive one "nice meeting you too queen Y/n." The woman leaves and Shuri watches before turning her attention back to you.
"So unnecessary truly" Shuri shrugs and pecks your lips "I think I was very nice about the situation I could have acted how you would have acted" you roll your eyes "and how would I have acted?" Shuri laughs and shakes her head "you would have cursed her out most likely causing a scene or you'd be jealous the whole day and act mad at me." You nod agreeing "okay I'll give you that you can have that." Shuri smiles and looks at the fruit in the basket "you ready?" You nod and link your arm in hers "yes." you both walk towards the back of the market to be met with a young boy. Shuri grabs the mango given to you earlier and gifts it to the kid he smiles and takes it upon Shuri's request. "What if I wanted that mango?" Shuri raises a brow "what if you wanted a gift from a girl who was trying to take you from me? That sounds like border line cheating to me. Are you trying to cheat on me?" you laugh because you're aware Shuri is being so unserious right now but her face is straight. "Absolutely not but I like mangos" she nods "if you want a mango I can get you one you just can't have that one it might have some seducing love spell and it'll make you leave me and..." you watch fondly as shuri rambles on no matter how much she matures you still see the younger version of her sometimes and the scene before you is a clear representation.
A/n: y'all are getting soft fics from me this weekend because drill is kicking my ass, to be honest. 😅like I'm sore and I have to do this shit all over again tomorrow. Anyways enjoy.
"Whatever you want, don't call me." you said as you threw your kimoyo beads and your engagement ring on the ground before stomping it and breaking it under your heels.
Blinking back tears, you pushed her off you as you turned around and left the lab, slamming the door behind you. Her cries echoed through the room as you picked up your suitcase as you left the palace and wakanda for good.
That was more than 4 years ago. To think you were happy. Marrying into the royal family, a strong bond with both T'Challa and Queen Ramonda but especially the love of your life, Shuri.
You guys have known each other for the longest time, being the daughter of the chief of the Border Tribe, you and Shuri have known each other since birth. Bonding over your love for tech. Not only did you have one of the highest IQ's, you were also one of the strongest warriors Wakanda had. Your mother is a Dora Milage so you trained everyday with them since you could crawl.
Everything was going great for the both of you until Shuri started getting engulfed in her tech work. She worked overtime to prove to the elders that she could also be useful but it angered you. Not because she was expanding her work but because she wasn't making time for you. She dismissed you, she didn't even let you enter the lab sometimes and that was where you worked. Eventually, you got sick of it, sick of everything and just left. For the better. Or was it?
"Miss Y/N, you have arrived." your driver says as you snap out of your thoughts. The car door opens for you as you steop out in white pumps and a black bodycon dress, your curls resting all around you as you straightened your gold chain.
The Dora Milage immediately bowed to you as you noticed your mother smiling at you but your face remained expressionless. You walked into the palace as you muttered under your breath. "i can't believe I'm back here again."
You walked through the palace corridors as you stopped in front of the lab, 2 Dora Milage warriors on either side of the door. You were contemplating entering when you heard 2 women's voices.
Turning around, you were met with Okoye and Nakia looking at you.
Nakia immediately embraced you as you hugged her back, realizing how much you missed your friends.
"Y/N...it pained us so much when you were not there for T'Challa's funeral." Nakia started as Okoye stood still and silent, not looking over to you.
"I was busy...I'm sorry. Send the queen my condolences-" you start but Okoye cut you off sharply.
"The queen is dead." She said, almost as if she was choking on her words as Nakia looked down.
A hand flew to your mouth as you felt your eyes watering. Queen Ramonda was like your mother figure, so caring and loving.
"That is why we asked you here. I'm guessing you didn't read the envelope?" Nakia asked as you tilted your head to the side.
"There was an envelope?"
"Typical." Okoye kissed her teeth as you turned to her to see her smiling.
"Okoye..."
"You know I can't be mad at you for long. Small small girl, come here." She held out your arms as you chuckled, hugging her tightly but when you pulled back, both Okoye and Nakia had serious expressions on their face.
"We need your help Y/N...help the country. Help Shuri." Nakia voiced out as your mood soured when she mentioned your ex's name but she gave you a look. "Please, put your petty beef to the side. She hasn't been herself lately, she's been engulfing herself in her work, you're the only one we know that can help her."
"Is this what you called me for?"
"Not all, we also need help defeating a treacherous villain. Namor. All the information has already been sent to your...iPhone." Okoye said the last part in disgust as you rolled your eyes playfully.
"Sorry ma'am, but it's how you keep up with stuff out of country nowadays."
"I still don't know why you didn't take your kimoyo beads with you. They're great advances."
"Yea but she built em didn't she."
"And it was your design."
"Look, let's not get into battle of the tech here alright?" Nakia said, as she looked between you and Okoye. "Just please help Shuri."
"And the country." Okoye added as you laughed slightly.
You took a sigh and nodded, dismissing them with your hands as you 'promised' to help Shuri. Bullshit, you couldn't give 2 shits about that woman. Your face turned expressionless once more as you entered the lab, startled when a voice started talking out of nowhere.
"My queen, an unknown woman has entered the lab."
"Thank you Griot." Shuri said sarcastically as she didn't even look up from her work.
Your fists balled up slightly. Wow, nothing changed even from when you guys were together. You sighed, maybe you should give her benefit of the doubt, her whole family is gone.
You squinted your eyes, looking around, not knowing where she was.
"What do you want?" her voice came from above and behind you.
You looked up before turning around to see her standing atop some stairs. Your breath hitches, she looks so different than before. She ditched the braids now, her hair shorter than usual. Fades at the sides with curls on the top. It fit her. You took in her white tracksuit and sneakers, tatted hands, and her body got a bit more muscular than last time. She had a ring on her fourth finger. Was she married? The ring looked nothing like your engagement ring and you felt a slight pang in your chest but you shook it off.
You look up to her face but she wasn't even looking at you, she was studying something on her kimoyo beads. Every bit of arousal just disappeared. What an ick, she's still more focused on her work than anything else.
"I was sent to help with defeating Namor."
"Riri?"
"Y/N."
As soon as you said your name, her head darted up as she looked in your direction. You stood still, your hands in front of you as you looked straight ahead, unbothered, which you were.
"Oh uhm.."
"Is Riri your wife?" You ask, motioning towards her ring on her fourth finger.
"Why do you care?" She raised an eyebrow, a stern expression fixated on her face as a frown appeared.
"I don't.." you trailed off as you took note of her face, images of her crying and begging on the lab floor the day you left rushing your mind as you abruptly stopped and shook your head.
"You can go to your quarters, you are not needed here today."
"No thanks, I'll stay. I am here to protect my country, no other intentions needed." You walk up the stairs and right past her as you walk over to your former office and stop, staring in disbelief.
It was decorated with red and yellow and the name "Riri" was spelled out on the wall with an ironman-looking suit standing in the corner of it.
"Of course." You nod your head slightly, of course your office wasn't going to stay the same. She's obviously moved on. You start towards a chair but stop as you hear her right behind you. She grabbed your arm slightly, making you turn around to face her. She still towered over you, even after all this time.
"I got it under control."
"Really? Because if so, Nakia and Okoye wouldn't be begging for me to help you."
Before she can respond, a young woman around our age comes into the lab and looks up at Shuri.
"My love." she said as she ran up to hug her and Shuri hugged her back lovingly, letting go of my arm.
I frowned at the sight and looked away. I shouldn't even be feeling like this, I broke up with her, I'm the asshole.
"Namor...he left a message."
▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱
All 3 of us walked towards the throne room, Shuri in the middle and ahead of us, her hands locked in with the woman who I learned to be named Malia. She wasn't Wakandan but American, you can tell from her accent. I scoffed at this.
The whole time, I stole glances at her. She wasn't even that pretty. Her dress is too short, this is a work area. Is she trying to seduce the elders or what? What's up with those shoes? They're unprofessional. Straightened hair? Really? Americans have no value for their natural hair. "Stop it" i said to myself under my breath. why am i comparing myself to another woman? I don't even care for Shuri, she can suck my clit for all i care.
As we approached the throne room, Shuri took her seat on the throne and I watched Malia sit down in the seat next to her. My former seat. I stood next to the Dora Milage, specifically my mother as I watched the two with hooded eyes.
Okoye pulled out her kimoyo beads where it showed Namor at the border of Wakanda, promising to be back and rid the whole country.
The whole time I was more focused on Malia and Shuri. The way Shuri's hand moved up and down her thigh, the way she looked at her. How unprofessional. And in front of the guards too?
"What is she doing here?" An elder spoke out, causing me to snap out of my trance. Everyone was now looking at me and I put on my best poker face, looking up at them.
"She is still a Wakandan, whether you like it or not." My mother said, standing up for me as I eyed the elder down. I clicked my tongue slightly as he turned away.
After the brief meeting and discussion of what to do, I made my way out of the throne room, right behind Malia who offered to show me to my sleeping quarters.
As we entered my apartment in the palace, I turned to her and raised an eyebrow. "Are you and Shuri married? I need to know whether to address to you as my queen or not." I say, trying to hide the fact that I'm prying for information.
I can see the question catch her off guard as she smiles sweetly at me. "No, not yet. This is just a promise ring, she got it for our anniversary, a few weeks ago, pretty right? She made it specifically for us." She showed her hand as I looked at the ring. It was beautiful and it had the initials "S.M" carved into it.
"Crazy how..if you hadn't left, this would've been you." She said under her breath, her tone sounding less friendly than it was before.
I look up at her, her expression looking more stern as we held eye contact momentarily. It was ice cold and the tension in the room could cut blocks. But then she smiled, her sweet expression coming back to her face.
"That's all, I hope you have a nice stay in Wakanda." She smiled even wider before turning around and leaving the apartment, leaving me to feel unsafe that she knew where I slept.
▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱
That night as I pulled my dress down, I heard a knock on my door. I didn't open it, still occupied with my dress. After a few moments, the door opened.
"I thought I locked that door.."
I turned around to be met face to face with Shuri. My dress fell down, and pooled at my legs. The only thing stopping her from seeing my naked body was a white savage x fenty lingerie set which was even more teasing if I'm being honest.
She was silent for a few moments, looking at me up and down before she gulped and then looked back at my face.
"I didn't know you were in here."
She went silent for a few moments before I looked at her puzzled.
"Not even a sorry?"
"For?"
"Practically barging in my room and then staring me down."
"You're in your head."
"Really? We're gonna pretend the Queen of Wakanda isn't in my bedroom, talking to me as I'm half naked."
"It's nothing I haven't seen before." she blurted out as I stand still, stunned at her words and she too also seems stunned at what she just said.
"I.." she starts but I shake my head, turning around.
"I need you to get the fuck out my space." I say and she doesn't respond until I hear the door opening again.
"I'll need to see you again in the morning and discuss some things about the whole Namor situation. Meet me in my lab at 10 AM sharp, don't be late." She says sternly before I hear the door slam shut.
"Shit, 4 years of sexual frustration does something to you." I say, sighing deeply as I pick up my dress, throwing it on my bed before going to my suitcase to grab my pajamas.
I'm going to hate it here, for sure.
════════════════════════════════════════════
Today was a pretty warm day when you got to work at the Hard Rock Café in New York and you saw people rush through the city, even in the subway there was no one relaxed. It might’ve been the weather that made them all feel extra uncomfortable or it was the fact that the attacks on the city accumulated since a few weeks.
Most people were scared for their lives when the evening arrived or heavy and thick layers of clouds appeared on the sky. To say it simple and basic: the battle against Thanos and the blip left scars on everybody, especially on you.
Most of the people came back when Tony sacrified himself just to perform the snap but some didn’t. Why are you asking me? Because some of them died in the time where they’ve been erased from earth.
Your mother, a genius when it came to languages and music, got blipped away too. She wasn’t really old but the doctors diagnosed her with the Huntington’s disease earlier in her life which shortens her lifetime drastically.
As soon as her daughter, you, were born she checked if you had the same disease but luckily the doctors found nothing, means you’re safe.
But when she was one of the people that didn’t come back, your dad was devastated. He wasn’t able to speak to you anymore without seeing his wife in you and tearing up. It ended in him, leaving you behind because the memory tore him apart. There was no sleepless night for him and neither was he able to go on with his life, that’s what he wrote in the letter he left for you after you found a nearly empty apartment when you came home from school.
The more important thing is that you were only 17 years old, all on your own.
Nothing. He left nothing for you, not even money to pay the rent. But your neighbour, a lovely old lady, came to your rescue as she noticed that you were packing your things with the fact in mind that she hasn’t seen your parents in a long time and when you opened up to her, she took you in.
Ever since then, you’ve been living with Mrs. Johnson and worked two jobs while going to college. Julliard was hard to get in but once you settled, life got serious. You spent every day at the conservatory when you weren’t working, unlike today.
Working at the Hard Rock Café gave you the opportunity to promote your music and find friends that love the same thing as you. Working at the bar was one of your favourite job, you’d talk to customers or impress them with throwing bottles around before catching them and mixing their drinks. When you were at work, life was fun.
And as soon as the shift ends, all of the employees that were actual musicians came together and performed things on stage because there was no chance of doing that when they were serving customers.
Sometimes it was hard for you to leave the bar behind, especially when you had no time for working in the next few days and all your co-workers would hug you goodbye. Life was awesome at that point.
When you came home, the first thing you always did was cook. Mrs. Johnson was old and out of respect you couldn’t stop calling her by her surname when you moved in, until she repeatedly said “my child, don’t call me Mrs. Johnson, I’m not that old!” but she indeed was old. Didn’t even tell you her full name, the good old lady.
Gwendolyn was her name, after all. So you got home and cooked dinner for yourself and Gwendolyn, who reminded you so much of your grandma that you last seen what felt like a decade. Gwenny – that’s what you called her because you took a liking to bad dad jokes – was actually the sister of Katherine Fury.
That’s how you were introduced to Nick. Nick was actually really nice when he talked to Gwendolyn, different than you expected him to be.
People that sat in the Café wore mostly summerly clothing and you wished you’d be able to wear something else than a black button-up and black pants because even though the air condition was on, it was incredibly warm in the building. Was it really warm? Because all your co-workers seemed to be fine and not overall sweaty and hot. What really concerned you were the constant questions if you’re okay and people telling you that you’d look quite pale.
Even your boss noticed that. And she even dismissed you with the words “go home instead of working when you’re sick.” But you weren’t sick. Were you? No, not that you remembered.
When you hopped on your train it got even weirder. Was it usually this loud on trains? No, it wasn’t. And why were these people talking without even opening their mouths? They weren’t talking. It was all in your head. You hallucinated. Did you? Why were these words so accurate then? A man was talking about that he has to get up because his stop was coming, another one was angry because of his phone and so on and so on. Shit, were these their thoughts?
Yes, indeed. On your way home your sight became quite blurry and you were constantly overstimulated because there was so much input. Didn’t really end good for you when you passed out in a darker alley.
But when you woke up, you weren’t in the same setting as you remember where you fainted. The dirty and slightly cold street exchanged for a relatively warm and cosy mattress, the fact that your surroundings looked quite like a hospital but way more high-tech and andvanced than the local hospitals could’ve been.
Slight panic overcame you when you realised that this wasn’t a hospital and there was also no doctor looking for you. You wanted to move but weren’t able to. As soon as you were fully capable of controlling your own body you noticed that your arms were tied to the sides of the bed. Yes, that was a whole lotta panic rising in your stomach, especially when a dark-haired man entered the room, wearing a white overall and looked like a doctor. “You’re going to help me, right?” you asked, the shakiness of your voice implied that you were panicking.
“Yes, sure.” He smiled but the vibe was off. And you should’ve realised that before he grabbed your arm and injected you something but due to the ropes that held your arm in place you hadn’t even have the chance to pull back.
A painful screech left your body when you felt the transparent liquid flood your veins and it felt like it was burning you alive from inside. It burned and your fingers went numb, same as your toes. The fact that they also turned completely white made you worry. And that it travelled upwards… concerning.
“Don’t worry-“ the man to your right said and once again showed his ugly grin. “You’ll feel better soon, as soon as you’re our weapon you’ll do a lot better.” He cooed but as he said weapon, you started crying.
“I didn’t do anything to you! I don’t even know who you are!” You tried to defend yourself but the man only laughed and left the room and you behind with the burning feeling inside.
Seems like you passed out again. Now you weren’t in the bed, around you were cold stonewalls that seemed to also be a little wet. Your head was leaned against the cold wall as your back was also pressing against it. Someone must’ve dropped you there. Your ankle was in a cuff and your hair was tied up in a messy bun.
Your body felt extremely sore and your hands ached when you used them so you decided to stay on the ground a little longer, until a guard opened the door and placed a little bowl of food in front of you. ‘Plain rice is at least a bit better than nothing’, you thought to yourself.
The feeling for time already left you and you couldn’t even tell if it was Monday or Tuesday and you hated it. You didn’t know where you were or if someone even looked for you, if you’re far from home or not and especially what they’d do with you.
A few words slipped to your ears from the hallway which were “Tests, today and let’s see if serum succeeded.”
So the fluid wasn’t something like saline, it was a serum. There was some weird serum in your body and you didn’t know what it does but judging by what the guards said, you should find out pretty soon. Except that this pretty soon was now. The doctor that you met when you woke up the first time was there too and there were two guards that escorted you with handcuffs out of the most likely some kind of prison cell into a bigger room.
‘Why was there a swimming pool?’
Would’ve been better for you to not ask yourself this, because one of the guards attached a metal ball to the handcuffs which seemed to be quite heavy. You looked back and forth between the guards and the doctor and when the man nodded, the two bigger men threw you in mentioned water.
Your problem was now the ball, that was sinking and pulled you down with it.
Panic.
You started screaming, even if no one heard it since the water muffled pretty much all the sounds.
You’ll die. Will you?
Seems like it. They only wanted to kill you.
What were the intentions of a weird doctor that kidnaps you and injects you some weird serum other than killing you?
Maybe he was an inmate that wants revenge. Or maybe someone who just hated women.
Everything was possible at that point. Didn’t change the fact that you were scared for dear life. You didn’t want to die just yet.
And you only had two options, drown or detach it from the cuffs. Second option sounded a lot more appealing than No. 1 and so you started wiggling in the water, trying to get free, when you felt a weird pain in your nose.
The water shot through it and suddenly you were able to breathe. Didn’t change the problem with the metal ball but made it, weirdly enough, at least manageable. Your body stopped shaking and when you tried to move your hands, the cuffs just simply broke.
“What the hell?” you muttered- no blubbered to yourself.
The ball problem was eliminated and you were able to swim back up to breathe some fresh air.
“Shit, doc, she did it.” Yelled one of the guards and he smiled.
His nod said that he knew that this was gonna happen and that this was exactly his intention.
“Bring her into a maximum security cell and strap her down. No movements allowed or you two shitheads get killed first.” He commanded with a chuckle and left the room again, then everything went black.
The next time you were woken up was in a jet, next to people that looked as clueless as you might look right now but there were no words that left your mouth, even if you tried to speak as hard as you could.
No words.
“Good evening, young ones.” The man with the dark hair said and referred to all the people around you and probably you. “I am deeply sorry that there was no time for a detailed welcome but I’m catching up on that now. My name is William G. Palm and I am your manager and boss. You’re working for me as my weapons and today is your first mission. I want you to knock out or kill everyone that is in your way. I want those weapons.”
The man stated and you knew deep down that some time ago you had no sympathy left for him but right now all you could do was nod.
“I injected serum that is made out of concentrated angel tears into your veins so you have the exact same powers as those above.” He stated and gave the guards a sign to open the handcuffs of all the girls and boys on the ship. Then, a loud thud. They must’ve landed. The hangar opened and everyone ran, as far as they could. Some were shot, others were able to get further but not far enough, except you.
You hid behind obstacles and ran in an ungodly speed, the shots didn’t even were close to you. Adrenaline was pumping inside of you and all you could see was red, letting your instinct control you completely.
People were screaming, most of them were your mates.
It was a war scene, mass destruction and heavily armed people ran around. But you didn’t look back, running and running.
Fulfil your mission.
The enemies were trying to get to you but none of them stand a chance. One came close to you but you knocked him off his feet with a punch into his face and tried to get to the weapons inside the building. On your way there you had a couple more fights but none of the soldiers were actually able to stop you.
With some weapons you made your way back but were stopped by a certain redheaded woman in black attire.  “Whatever you’re trying here won’t work out, kiddo.” She said and held her hands up.
If you were a 100% conscious at that time you would’ve recognised that THE Black Widow was standing right in front of you, but the manipulated you just shrugged and tried to run past her but what stopped you this time was the hand that met your nose.
“Shit!”, you groaned and turned around to face her.
“You’re really trying to mess with me, huh?” Was your question that she simply scoffed at. “Hold your horses, wild one. You’re messing with the Avengers.”
‘Fulfill your mission, Y/n. Bring me the weapons.’ The voice of Dr. Palm echoed through your head.
“I don’t care.” Was your answer as you hat her on her solar plexus and made her stumble backwards. It was your chance to run which you took gratefully.
Little did you know that a shit ton of Avengers waited for you outside and Dr. Palm was nowhere in sight. Little did you know that he left you there, he had the assumption that you were killed like all the other ones and went before he got caught.
“It would be smarter of you if you drop the weapons and come with us.” Stated the dude in blue, white and red clothing and a shield but you shook your head out of irony.
“Really think that would get me, huh?”
Who would’ve thought that Spider-Man was the one to knock you off your feet with his taser webs.
Unconsciousness.
Darkness.
Silence.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
You groaned, your head was hurting a lot. Why was it hurting that much?
“She’s awake!” A male voice said and make you open your eyes in shock and probably also in fear of being tied to something again but this time it was a rather friendly face, a light stubble over his chin and cheeks, rimless glasses sat on his nose and his dark, lightly curly hair was sprinkled with gray.
“Hey.” He smiled. “I’m Doctor Banner, Bruce Banner.” At least a small introduction, so you knew what and who you’re dealing with.  “I know you might be scared but I promise no one here’s going to harm you.” He stated, raising his pinky. “Pinky promise.”
What kind of doctor would say ‘Pinky promise’ you thought, but he didn’t seem so bad so far.
“I did some check-ups on you and your condition was pretty bad, you were pretty dehydrated and your blood pressure was constantly too high.” He explained and showed you some health data. He had evidence, seemed to know what he was doing
“If you don’t mind, Mr. Stark would like to have little talk with you.” He said and exchanged places with Tony, who had a certain black girl by his side.
“Hey kiddo, how are you feeling?”, the billionaire asked and looked intensively at you, but you just laughed.
“Like shit.”
“I know Bruce is gonna fix it but I still need you to help me out. Who are you working for?”  “Working? For Hard Rock Café, nothing more?” The tone in your voice was questioning, as if you didn’t know what he was talking about, what was the case right now.
“No, why were you stealing those weapons?” He was stern and now very straight forward.
“What weapons?” And made Shuri shake her head. “She doesn’t remember, Tony. No need to push her into something, her bpm’s already rising.” The princess stated and had a hand on Tony’s shoulder, trying to calm him and pushing him out of the room.
She now smiled at you and pulled a lightly disgusted face, paired with the words “men…” and laughed which also made you chuckle.
“You need to tell me everything that you remember about the whole thing, okay? Do you remember where you landed or what your mission is?” You shook your head.
“Want me to explain it?” The older one asked and received a small ‘Okay’ from the college-student.
The panther took a deep breath, sat down on the bed next to your legs and started rambling. “When the Avengers were called it was kind of a war-scene, other people your age where shot when they ran for their lives out of a jet-“ She stopped, gathering and sorting the memory. “-and a man was looking at the scene and laughed before he left.”  While she talked, the girl was playing with her hands, seems like she was nervous.
While you were watching her fiddling with her fingers and inspected the tattoos, something came out of your mouth. “Palm.”
Shuri was looking at you, following your gaze down to her hand. “What?” She was confused, what where you talking about?
“Doctor Palm.” Your voice cracked as you spoke again, even if you didn’t know where it came from. But Shuri slowly tried to catch up on what you were saying and her face lit up. “That was the man, yeah?”
Nod.
“Thank you so much. I’ll be back soon, get better fast.” She smiled and hurried out of the room to talk to the Avengers.
All of the heroes were in the conference room in the compound after Shuri had called in an emergency meeting and obviously they all were nervous and curious.
“What happened?” It was Captain America, that spoke. “Did the girl try to flee or something?”
“No. I want you all to look for a Doctor Palm, that’s the man that was with the teenagers back there.” She stated and fought for your right and for your justice.
Tony was the first one that got to work and tried to find the mysterious man, while Shuri hurried back to your room.
Why was she so worried even if you basically didn’t know each other? For the others it looked quite normal, just a girl helping another girl out but the way she acted was so down to earth, other than expected from the Black Panther. You bet she would’ve had places to be but when she returned, a glass of orange juice in hand, the queen seemed to care so much.
You muttered a “Thank you so much” when she handed you the drink and sat back down at your legs. She let you take a moment to taste the juice and when you hummed in satisfaction, she continued talking.
“Do you remember what happened before that battle?”
“Well- my head feels very weird because I think I fainted a lot- I mean I at least was unconscious often.” You mentioned and she took a mental note on that just to tell Bruce to check up on your blood values in case they’ve drugged you.
“Also I remember fainting on my way back home-“ And there was the memory of good old Gwenny that would be dearly worried about you by now and tears welled up in your eyes.
“When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed, just like this one. But my hands were tied to the side and this Dr. Palm injected me something. That’s why I was panicking when I woke up here.” You admitted and took a deep breath, what follows was a big deal for you.
“And then I woke up in a prison cell. The guards later on always drowned me on purpose and I snapped handcuffs in half. Then they strapped me down in a max cell.” You looked away. You usually didn’t talk about what was on your mind but maybe the girl in front of you should know, if the Avengers were going to help you, you know?
But her face was enlightened by shock. She couldn’t peel her eyes off of you and pity was dwelling in the pit of her stomach.
“Could you do me a favor, queen?”  “Don’t call me queen, I’m Shuri! What is it?” Her smile brought you comfort, even if your mind was troubled. It was so cloudy up there, so so cloudy that you couldn’t focus on your own thoughts.
“I’m living in a flat with an old lady, downtown New York. I don’t know how many days passed since I fainted. Could you check on her?” You begged, again at the verge of tears. “Please tell her that I’d be home soon and she should call Nick, that he takes care of her.”
“Nick? As in Nick Fury?” The queen of Wakanda asked and when you affirmed of her assumption, she once again gave you a big smile and rushed to do what you asked for.
But the answer was no good and Shuri couldn’t manage to tell you this herself, it’d break her heart once again, so she sent Bruce, also with the information about your blood values.
Yes, you weren’t speaking for the rest of the day. And the day after that day. Just because you didn’t pay any attention to your surroundings that day you were now all alone by yourself. Luckily you had a roof right now and people that at least took a little care of you but when Tony crashed your silent treatment, you didn’t know how to react.
They didn’t find the man they were looking for. The only they managed was to analyse your blood very detailed and what they found was very confusing.
“High dose of chloroform, serum spiked with an identical formular of the super-soldier serum, indeed there were tears of angels in it. And we had some contact to someone who knows a bit about mystic creatures. He said they will look for you.”
Tony wasn’t very pleased of your stay and you knew by the way how he told you, without any filters or any empathy.
“This is not a motel or something so if you feel alright it would be cool if I’d get my doctor back.” He said and hell yeah you felt unwanted. Why would he say something like this? Didn’t he care?
Why were you even here if he didn’t care? They could’ve left you there-
He could just simply let you go if you didn’t discover how to use what they gave you but that would happen sooner or later. And Shuri wasn’t really happy about Tony’s decision but couldn’t do anything about it. She offered to take you to Wakanda and give you a place to rehab but you declined.
Why?
You still wanted to graduate.
You still wanted to be a normal person even if it seemed impossible right now.
After Tony’s snarky comment you told Bruce that you felt alright and that you’d want to leave, much to his dismay.
You hoped not to walk into the queen on your way out of the building but the last few days weren’t lucky for you and so was this one.
“Hey, hey, hey killer, where are you going?”, she asked, thought that she was dreaming.
“I’m leaving.” You shrugged and gripped your jacket and your phone a bit tighter, you hated confrontations.
“Whoa, what? Why?” Didn’t she know about how Tony felt?
“Yeah, Stark said I should leave when I’m good, no motel and shit.”
Her expression and smile dropped. She wouldn’t see you again, would she? Probably not.
“Give me your phone.” She demanded and you handed her your phone and saw how she created a new contact.
“Call me, if you need anything. Even if it’s just a friend or a drink.” And you didn’t expect her to open her arms for a hug, which you still gladly took.
Why were the clouds disappearing?
Why was her skin so warm?
Was that her heartbeat?
Why was she protecting you the whole time?
You broke the hug and gave her a little smile, shoving your phone into your pocket and walked towards the exit. She didn’t move a muscle, still looked in the same direction as when you guys were talking.
The odd feeling of not wanting to leave her alone behind didn’t wash away and so you turned around and called out her name once more.
“Hey- Shuri?”
She looked – over her shoulder - back to you and watched you.
“You’re very pretty.” With that she received the sweetest smile you owned when you turned on your heel once more and walked off.
Were that butterflies?
When was the last time a girl actually called her pretty?
She couldn’t remember.
With that a smile settled on her face for the rest of the day.
But not for you. When you realised you had no money left and no bus drives out here you only had the option of walking or rather walking at least into the next city. You could’ve asked the queen to give you a ride but you didn’t want to be in dept about anything ever. She would’ve escorted you safely to where your destination was- but you had none, except for New York City.
Rescuing Ross | Marvel Headcanon
‼️Contains major spoilers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‼️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This goes with my ‘Ross catching feeling’s for Tony’s sister’ headcanon—-link to my full Marvel Masterlist
Pairing: Everett Ross x Stark!reader (Tony’s sister)
Warning: contains major spoilers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, do not continue if you have not seen it/ want to be spoiled.
Content warnings: profanity, angst, fluff at the end. Mentions of Tony & Nat’s death and the battles against Thanos.
Being Tony Stark’s sister (an avenger) who is engaged to Everett Ross & rescuing him from detainment would look like:
After meeting Ross in 2016 and becoming a couple following events of their visit Wakanda and the blip, you and Everett were coming up on your eight year anniversary with one year of being engaged. So much had happened that resulted in Everett delaying a proposal to you—most notably the death of your brother, Tony, and your good friend Natasha Romanoff—and felt that you two were at a good point in your relationship that there was no need for pressure on marriage. However, when Ev did propose you tackled him to the ground with a big ‘yes!’ & a kiss to the lips.
Everett had worries for his first marriage did not work out and therefore feared it would be the same for the two of you. But after years and sticking by one another during the hardships of half the population being gone for 5 years and losing loved ones, you two were stronger than ever.
So fast forward to 2024. The world is restored and you’ve come to accept the loss of Tony and Nat by moving forward as a prominent figure in getting Earth back to the way it was. Everett was with you every step of the way—although he was worried when you left to assist Sam and Bucky with the super soldier fiasco. It did not help that his ex-wife, Val who also was the Director of the CIA, was on his ass and threatened to have you arrested if things didn’t get cleaned up.
The news of T’Challa’s death brought sadness and grief to the both of you. If it wasn’t for him, Everett would have never survived the bullet wound to his spine. The two of you kept in touch after bringing him and everyone who vanished back with T’Challa sending you a condolence gift after Tony’s funeral. In the same fashion, you and Everett sent one to Shuri and Queen Ramonda. Contact with Shuri fell shortly later, but you both understood she was grieving the loss of her brother and let her know that you two were there for her if she every needed anything.
When Shuri does come to you nearly a year later asking about a scientist who developed a vibranium detector drill, you were more willing to give up the information than Everett. Technically you were not in the CIA and only a contact due to your relationship with Ross, but you understood he was risking treason if he were to say something. “Ev, they have the right to know. This is putting their people in jeopardy.”
It wasn’t too long after that Ev came to you with Shuri’s bracelet that he found at a crash site. It brought dread to you, for you feared something bad had happened and made it your mission to assist in finding her. You had made some new adjustments to Stark Industries and the tech (against the governments wishes), but was unable to locate her last signal. Ross kept you updated on his conversations with Queen Ramonda, and the fact it was possible Val was onto him. “She may have bugged the beads, Ev. You need to be careful.” “Her and I got to the site at the same time. There’s no way she knew they were there—I found them hidden under a piece of debris.”
But, like most cases, you were right. Val had bugged the beads before Ross had shown up and was aware of every conversation he had with Ramonda. You had been downtown in your lab, working on a way to find Shuri, when the news of the Queen’s death broke. Before you could even react there was a announcement from F.R.I.D.A.Y, “Forgive my interruption, Ms. Stark, but there has been an intrusion at your home.” Dread filled you, “Pull up the perimeter and indoor security footage at once.”
It is there you see the one and only Director Valentina Alegra de Fontaine standing in your kitchen and your poor fiancé looking pale faced and fearful. “Get me audio, F.R.I.D.A.Y.” Listening in, Val admits she had the beads bugged, heard every phone call, and knew you were involved. “I’ve already sent a squad out to detain Stark—the Accords may have been abolished but your girl has committed treason just as you have, Ross,” she says before pulling out handcuffs when Everett pleads to her to not do what she’s doing. Sure enough F.R.I.D.A.Y is letting you know a car with armed agents had arrived outside your building.
You managed to escape with little to no scratches on you—but the same could not be said for the agents. When you got to one of many safe houses, you finally let your emotions lose. You grieved for Ramonda, you cried for Shuri—who was now alone—and you feared for your fiancé. F.R.I.D.A.Y showed you footage of the house where you witnessed Everett cuffed and hauled into the back of a SUV.
Your hands were full with tracking the CIA’s decisions on Ev while also trying to get updates from Wakanda. The only one you managed to contact was Okoye—who took a liking to you in 2016 and fought along side you in 2018 & 2023–who told you everything that happened in the recent weeks. Okoye told you they were handling things and to not get involved. You promised and Okoye even gave her word that she’d help you find Ross once they finished with the Tolakons.
When the call does come from Okoye, you were filled with immense relief by what she tells you. That a truce was made between the two countries, Shuri made peace with Namor and has taken on the mantle of the Black Panther, and Wakanda was rebuilding itself after the attack. “I am so glad to hear you and the others are alright.” “Thank you, Y/n. It is a relief we were met with victory. Now let us save your love—Shuri has his location. I’m sending you coordinates, I will meet you there in the hour.” “Wha-wha-wait what? Are you in Virginia?” “The middle of the Atlantic Ocean to be exact.”
The answer to your question came in the form of a flying blue metal suit landing in front of you, “AH! What the hell?! Oh its you!” The alarm of threat turned into relief as a smile appeared on your face when the mask removed to reveal Okoye’s amused expression. Together you two intercept the van transferring Everett to prison with Okoye cutting down a tree to block the road. When the van comes to a stop, you pull the driver from his seat and shock him unconscious while Okoye deals with the passenger.
Instead of opening the back doors, you let Okoye have her fun and watch from the side as she throws open the doors—mask covering her identity—and could literally picture the look on Everetts face. You hold back your giggle at his sound of relief when she uncovers the mask and says, “Colonizer in chains. Now I have seen everything.”
That’s when you come around the side and meet his eyes, Everett can’t stop his grin. Hopping in the van you get his wrist and ankle cuffs off, “You know, it’s taken everything in me to not go after your ex for opening that bottle of wine we were saving for the rehearsal dinner.” “Well, darling, it looks like that wedding is gonna have to get pushed back. Again.”
Together the three of you head into the woods to where she parked the aircraft to take you three back to Wakanda. It was the safest option for you to at that moment, with being fugitives on the run. “Now I know how Cap and them felt all those years ago.” You could not tell anyone where you were, but sent word to Pepper, Rhodey, and Happy you were safe and with Everett. They were sad and Rhodey promised to find a way to get you two pardoned. “I’ll talk with Sam—see if there is something Fontaine is hiding that could help your case.” “Thank you, Rhodey. I appreciate what you’re doing greatly. I just hate I’m putting you in this position.”
It was unknown how long you and Ev would be on the run, but thankfully you two had the help of Shuri, Okoye, and the people of Wakanda by your side. For you owed them your life for everything they had done for you and Everett. “We’re lucky—you and I,” Everett said as you two watched the beautiful sunset from your balcony of the apartment Shuri had given you, “to have them as our friends.” “We are. And we will make it up to them as soon as we can. They have given us so much. I would rather meet death than not return the gratitude.” Everett presses a kiss to your forehead before one to your lips, “So would I.”
STAY WITH ME
warnings: fem!Riri x black! fem OC (cs we need for fem on-fem representation), fluff, pampering, nicknames
OC: Novalie Pierce(Williams) — no-va-lee
word count: 1.3k+
A/N: ignore any and all mistakes in this, I've changed the POV like three times 😭😭. And the way I wrote this is it's in second person but instead of Riri saying "y/n" she'll say Novalie, Nova, or Novs
Tumblr media
You stare at yourself in your bathroom mirror for a few seconds, figuring out how you were gonna style your braids today. You settle on a low bun just to get your hair out of your face for now. You turn on the faucet, wet your toothbrush, put toothpaste on it, wet it again, and then start brushing your teeth.
Riri comes up behind you, wrapping her hands around your waist. "Morning, ma." She kisses your neck then your cheek, "You sleep good?"
You hold up a finger and finish brushing your teeth and rinsing your mouth out with water then mouthwash. You hiss softly at the tingly feeling the mouthwash leaves but ignore it otherwise. "Didn't go to bed til four," you say, turning around.
Riri lets you go, now leaning on the door frame with her arms crossed. "I thought we talked about that, Nova. Ion care how much work you got, you shouldn't be messin' up your sleep schedule over it."
"Baby, I know, I do, but I needed to get it out the way so that we could have this weekend off, remember?"
"Yeah, I remember but still. We can't have a good weekend if you sleep durin' the day and you awake durin the night."
You take Riri's hands in yours and kiss her on the lips. "I'll be okay, ri." you say softly, "I promise."
"Okay. Okay, I believe you. You want me to cook us some breakfast before we take a shower?"
"Uh uh, we gon clock out on the couch after we eat, so shower now."
"Yes ma'am." Riri takes two bonnets out of the small bin full of them while you turn on the shower then hands one to you.
Tumblr media
"Ma, you want pancakes or waffles?"
"Waffles, please."
"With chocolate chips on top?"
You smile at the fact that Riri remembers. "Yes ma'am."
A few minutes go by and Riri hands you your plates. One with a double stack of waffles, the other with cheesy eggs and bacon. She puts down a tall glass cup and fills it with apple juice.
After Riri makes sure you've got everything, she sets her food down and sits next to you. She made herself the same thing with the same drink, but a different main dish, french toast with strawberry syrup.
"You ready to eat, baby?" You ask.
"Hell yeah. You got everything you need?"
"Yup." You press play on the remote, the T.V. now playing Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
The two of you eat silently but you find yourself staring at Riri once she's finished. Riri's a slow eater, she pays more attention to whatever she's watching instead of the food itself.
The sun was almost up now and the light from the windows bounced off her, giving her face the most perfect glow you had ever seen.
Riri does a double take from you to the T.V. and catches you staring. "What's wrong? I got somethin' on my face?"
You shake her head, "I'm just staring at my beautiful wife. I can't do that now?" you ask with a smirk on your face.
Riri snorts and rolls her eyes, "Oh, shut up. You're so corny," she says, but you can see her smiling.
You lean over and kiss Riri on the forehead when she turns her head back to you. "I love you, Mrs. Williams."
"I love you, Mrs. Williams." Riri stops eating completely, her attention on the T.V.
"Eat, ri." You remind her, and she does.
"Food was good?" Riri says, "You ate but didn't drink til you were done."
"That's cause if I did I wouldn't have finished my food, you know that, ri."
She hums softly, finishing the food on her plate.
As she was about to pick up the dishes, you stopped her.
"You cooked, lemme clean up."
Riri smiles and holds her hands up in defense, "Aight." She finishes the juice then hands you the cup. "Thank you, ma."
There wasn't much to do since Riri cleans up after herself when she cooks, usually only leaving the dishes you guys ate out of.
When you came back to the couch, Riri was laying down on her back, her eyes dropping and opening.
You get the blanket you put under the coffee table and place it over Riri.
You sit down slowly, not wanting Riri to feel the dip in the couch. Gently, you pick Riri's head up and put it on your thigh, watching as her chest rises and falls peacefully.
You put your hand on Riri's cheek, caressing it softly, and eventually falling asleep alongside her.
When you woke up, Riri wasn't by your side anymore. But she was still in the apartment.
You can hear the shower running in the bathroom.
You pick your phone up off the coffee table and lay down on your back, scrolling through Pinterest, trying to find new nails to show your nail tech.
"Whatchu doin', my love?" Riri asks, coming out of the room. She wears her natural hair more than you most days, today being one of those days. She has on a spaghetti strap singlet with shorts. "And so much for not falling asleep early, huh."
"Lookin for some new nails. I need somethin' new to show my nail tech also, you fell asleep first, remember?"
Riri makes a fake thinking face as she walks over to you and sits down, "Ion remember that happening but whatever you say. You find anything you like yet so we could get our nails done?"
You pause and look at Riri. "We? You're getting your nails done with me?"
"Yeah, ion wanna leave your side today."
You giggle and kiss Riri on the lips, "I love you."
"I love you. Now, find something you like so we can get going."
Tumblr media
You stare at your nails once they're fully dry, loving the way they look.
Riri wolf whistles behind you, grinning. "You look good, mama."
"Shit, I feel good." You laugh and get up, thanking your nail tech.
Riri pays her and the two of you head out.
You open the car door, smiling at the red and pink bouquet of flowers on your seat. You look over at Riri, who also has a smile on her face.
"Ri, when did you have the time to get these?" You finish your sentence while getting in the car, the flowers on your lap, "They are literally stunning."
"I got em while you were napping during your foot massage. Figured it was the only time I had to disappear for minute without you noticin'."
"Well, you were definitely right."
When you guys reach home, Riri tells you to freshen up because she had a surprise for you.
"Ri, can I open my eyes yet?" You ask, hesitantly moving around the apartment, Riri's hands covering your eyes as well as your own.
"Just a few more steps, Novs." She stops you, taking her hands away. "You can look now, ma."
You open your eyes slowly, letting yourself adjust to the low setting lights. Finally, you take in what you're looking at. More flowers on the dining room table, they're blue orchids, the only flower that both you and Riri like. The plates of food with the half full glasses of wine next to them. It smells amazing, you know this took Riri hours, maybe. Despite acknowledging everything, you can't fathom how real this moment is, how real everything is. You and the love of your life are here together-
"Novalie?" Riri using your full name snapped you out of your thoughts.
"Baby, you completely outdid yourself with this," You say in a whisper.
She smiles and you kiss her on the lips. "I love you, Ri."
"I love you."
"I know why you're really here."
"To see an old friend and her beautiful home?" You quirked your eyebrow at your long-time friend.
"No." She replied frustration slightly hidden underneath her voice.
"Yeah, you're right. I'm only here for the vibranium."
You joked as you tinkered with the suit Shuri had told you to make to which she rolled her eyes at you. "I'm fine, really. I don't need a babysitter." She protested as she continued to press buttons on the screen in front of her. "I'd hope not. It would be kinda weird if I was babysitting you, since you're older than me." You put down the tool you were using and stood up from your table walking towards her. "But I am your friend, and I know first-hand how shitty a death anniversary can be, especially the first one." You placed your hand on her shoulder making her turn to you and give you a reassuring smile. "I know... but I really am OK, Y/N." You didn't believe her but you weren't going to push so you raised your hands in defence "OK. Whatever you say. I'm here if you need me though, you got me all weekend." She nodded as you went back to work on the blue suit.
----------------------✧♡✧----------------------
That was 3 days ago and now you were standing beside Shuri in Cambridge, outside MIT. "Karen, locate Riri Williams." You instructed your AI that was built into your sunglasses. Your glasses then zoomed into a small black girl with big cornrow braids walking towards a group of boys and you smirked "It's her." You directed your head to her as she took one of the boy's phones. "Her? Are you sure?" Shuri questioned and you turned to her lowering your sunglasses momentarily to give her a 'are you really doubting me' look. "But she looks your age." You gave a small smile and shrugged before you turned away from Shuri to continue watching the girl. "Would you like me to activate Enhanced Reconnaissance Mode?" Karen asked and you nodded "Yes, please." You listened to Riri's conversation and gathered that she was getting paid to do the boy's schoolwork and that she had a Chicago accent that gave you small butterflies in your stomach.
You had to pull your eyes away from Riri as she walked into a building and you zoned back into the current conversation. "It'll be more discrete" Shuri spoke "I can be discrete." Okoye argued making you and Shuri look the woman up and down plainly judging her. "What? Is it the makeup? It's the wrong shade isn't it?" The general spiralled as Shuri tried to convince her she looked good but then Okoye looked directly into your eyes and you sighed. "Well, for one, you're wearing a red bodysuit with a blazer over it. Don't get me wrong it's a fit, but girl, you gonna get noticed if you walk into MIT dressed like that. Best to let Shuri and I go." You told her honestly but before she could protest Shuri spoke up. "Woah, you can't come. You're not even supposed to be here, Namor said-" you cut the princess off holding your hands up in defence. "As I told you before, if the fish man didn't want me to get involved then he shouldn't have threatened you whilst I was in Wakanda. Periodt. Anyways, she's hot. I wanna go say hello." You smirked lowering your arms and walking slowly backwards towards the door Riri went through. Shuri sighed and went back to talking to Okoye who gave her a limit of 5 minutes which Shuri celebrated before running to catch up to you who was already halfway to the building.
You were leading Shuri to Riri's dorm using Karen to locate her, both of you speed walking before Okoye showed up. "Y'know some of my friends, Ned and Mj go here. I've not seen them since like forever though." You sighed "We don't have time just now, but maybe when this is all over you can go say hi." Shuri spoke back as you stopped her and knocked on Riri's door. "Riri Williams?" You held in a laugh at your friend's sudden change to an American accent as the door opened revealing the girl who was about 1 or 2 inches smaller than you, who didn't look up from her phone. "Yo, I don't do drop-byes anymore. You gonna have to go to the website." She told you still not looking up which made you tilt your head as Shuri showed her phone pretending to show her something. "It's an encrypted file. I wanted to airdrop it." Shuri spoke in her normal accent. The girl finally looked up from her phone and looked between you both "Hey, you gonna let us in beautiful?" You smile as you take off your sunglasses placing them in your pocket, following Shuri into Riri's room. "You're- You're-" Riri was too surprised to speak and you chuckled a bit as Shuri put her finger on her lips indicating for Riri to quiet down. "You're Princess Shuri and Y/N L/N, Ironman's kid." You rolled your eyes at the mention of your father but were pleased she didn't call you 'Y/N Stark' and started walking around her room looking at her stuff.
She closed the door behind you and then turned back to you both "What the hell are you doing here? Oh, shit, am I getting recruited?" She asked eagerly and you laughed again shaking your head. Shuri gave her a confused look before speaking up "No. We're here about the vibranium detector that you built for the CIA." Shuri informed her "Nah, I didn't build no detector for the CIA. I built that for my metallurgy class." Riri responded confused which piqued your interest. "A school project?" Shuri asked just as surprised as you were. "Damn, I hope you got an A?" You spoke up and she nodded "Yeah. My professor said I'd never be able to do it. To be young gifted and black though, am I right?" You nodded back at her. "Preach. Your professor must suck, though. If he gave your project to the CIA without your knowledge." You sat beside her and looked over at Shuri who asked her what age she was. Shuri was right earlier she was the same age as you, 19. "Brilliance at a young age is not always accepted by the elders. How long did it take you?" Shuri asked. "Couple months?" Riri responded and your eyes widened "Couple months?" "You must be a real genius, huh?" Riri looked down bashfully and started telling you how she made it, you started thinking about how much planning and equipment she would've needed all for a simple school assignment that she clearly overachieved at. "Wait, did I piss off Wakanda?" Riri stood up and asked Shuri "Not just us." Riri looked back at you "The Avengers?" You shook your head "No just the government and an overgrown fish stick. I'm just here to keep you safe, but we have to move quickly before they find us." You spoke picking up her bag and passing it to her, your fingers brushing each other for a moment, her worried and confused eyes staring into your confident and determined one's making you smile. "This place is no longer safe for you. Gather your things and come with us, right now." Shuri broke her stare away from you and you sighed letting go of her bag and walking beside Shuri.
"I-I got a differential equations class in like, 15 minutes." Riri started to make excuses and Shuri gave her a look whilst you faked a hurt expression. "Girl, you would rather risk your life in maths class than hang with me, and Shuri? I'm hurt." You placed a hand on your chest as if she wounded you which made her give a breathy chuckle and Shuri turned her unimpressed gaze towards you. "You're- You're- uh kidding about the risking my life bit, right?" She asked stepping closer to you leaning towards your ear. You smiled at the way her breath tickled your skin and leaned into her ear "Sorry, but no." She then started to back away to another door in the room. You already knew it was the toilet as you had Karen tell you all the exit and entrance points on the way up. You started to follow her about to tell her not to make a break for it but then she started running back, running into you, making you both hold onto each other for a moment before she hid behind you because Okoye was walking out of the bathroom. "How long have you been in there, geez." "We had it under control!" You and Shuri spoke at the same time.
"I said 5 minutes, I gave you 6." Okoye told Shuri before walking past you towards Riri. "Get out! Get out of my dorm. Get out!" Riri protested as you all slowly walked towards her. Shuri put her hand out as if that would calm her down but it only made the short girl grab her speaker "I'm warning you, do not take another step towards me!" Okoye gasped "See how they teach the children to treat their guests." You shook your head "Riri, we aren't-" you were cut off by Riri throwing the speaker and Okoye activating her spear, slicing it in half. "WOAH- OK! We doing this now?" You backed away from Okoye going beside Shuri. "You brought a spear in here?" Shuri questioned her protector "You brought a spear in here." Riri repeated turning around making you try and hide the smile that was forming because of her reaction. "I like her!" Okoye was basking in her delight of this situation whilst everyone else was becoming increasingly stressed. Next, Riri picked up her radiator making straining noises as she lifted it above her head. "Hey, put it down. Come on, you'll hurt yourself, come on." Shuri spoke up and you noticed how they were both talking to her like she was a baby animal and laughed. "She's not a baby. You're not a baby right?" You looked over to Riri who shook her head "Then let's solve this like adults, put the radiator and the spear down, grab a drink, Okoye especially, maybe go to a party, dance-" You were interrupted by Shuri hitting your arm "What?" You whined pretending to rub your injured arm.
"Small, small girl, I am going to give you 2 options. You can come to Wakanda conscious or unconscious." Okoye warned. "You need to be conscious of the way that you look. Walking around here all that ash on your head!" Riri retorted making you and Shuri burst out laughing as you slapped your hand over your mouth avoiding the harsh stare of the general. "Oh it's funny?" "No it's not." You left Shuri to talk as you found the floor very interesting all of a sudden "I told you!" "You look good. Calm down, we're leaving ok?" You looked up to Riri who was still struggling with the radiator over her head. "She can deal with the merman with winged ankles who wants to kill her, all by herself." Shuri grabbed your arm turning you towards the door as you laugh "Good luck, Riri!" "You got thissss!" "With your heater. Let's go." You all walked out the door leaving Riri confused until she joined you a few minutes later. "Good choice." You grinned at her making her grumble at you "I'm going to miss my class." "As if you don't already know it?" You smirked following behind Shuri and Okoye to the car.
----------------------✧♡✧----------------------
You approached the building that Riri told you she had to stop at. "I just have to grab my work laptop. Please, don't touch anything." She told you as you all got out of the car and started walking into the workshop. "You don't have to worry about that." Okoye judged as you and Shuri started snooping around. "So the design for the machine is on that laptop? And you just leave it on a desk in a car garage?" Okoye spoke eying Riri and her computer. You were too distracted to listen further as you recognised something on a board. 'This looks like...' "Ever locked yourself out?" Shuri asked as she came to investigate what you were staring at. "Took me the whole semester to log back in." "What is this?" Shuri spoke up catching on to what you were looking at "I said don't touch anything." Riri whined. "We're just looking. You trying to replicate my dad's work? Fan of iron man then?" You turned to her and she caught your eye, then looked at the blueprints, then back to you. "Kinda..." You have a 'You ain't fooling anyone' kinda look and she sighed "Maybe a big fan? Like a giant fan, but not in a creepy way or anything." She shook her hands towards you. Before you could reply with a flirty comment Karen and Griot spoke at the same time. "Princess, American law enforcement has arrived at your location." "Y/N, you are currently being surrounded by American law enforcement."
You made your way to the window so Shuri could send out a surveillance drone "Why are the feds after me?" Riri asked and you shrugged "Probably want another detector." She then stormed off and started grabbing all her papers "Oh, I do not need this shit right now! I swear to god I was doing so well! Going to class on time, I must be dumb as hell. Real dumb, thinking that the princess of Wakanda and Y/N L/N gonna show up at my doorstep. I think, that I'm actually gonna take my chances with this merman because at least he never brought the FBI to my garage." Riri ranted as she burnt her papers. "She kinda cute when she mad." You whispered to Shuri who just rolled her eyes at you as Okoye shouted at Riri "Just suit up, Y/N." 'Oh, yeah. That's why I'm here. Backup.' You smirked as you put your sunglasses back on and clicked your red and gold bracelets together "Suit." Your Iron suit wrapped around your body and your glasses turned into a helmet.
"WOAHHH! You have an iron woman suit? Since when? Why have I never seen this before?" Riri started to circle you as you laughed at her nerding out as she continued to ask you how it was made and if your dad made it. "Uh- yeah. My dad and I made it in case of an emergency. And this is an emergency." You could now hear the police shouting outside. "Hey, fangirl. Does this vehicle work?" Okoye called out over the noise. "No." Riri lied and you gave her a questioning look "Everything in this lab works, including this bike." Shuri smirked as she circled the bike "Don't even think about it. Besides, there are 3 of us if Y/N is flying." Okoye warned. "Two of yall, I'm taking this." You followed Riri's gaze as you and Shuri spoke over each other "I knew it! Don't tell me you built this in 2 months?" "Woah, guess we gonna be matching. You built this by yourself?" Riri started lowering her suit as she answered your questions. "Yeah, I've spent years on this...on and off." Riri spoke proudly. "Awesome." You looked at it feeling a sense of pride at what your father had inspired. "Nice. Have you flown it yet?" Shuri spoke in awe "That thing can fly?" Okoye judged but you all ignored her. "There's an entire YouTube channel dedicated to sightings of me." Riri smiled.
Suddenly, the lights went off and the police started calling out your names, Shuri gave Riri a communication device and told you to stay close to her. Okoye pulled back the sheet of the hidden car to reveal a bright red car that looked slightly old-fashioned but in good condition. "What a hunk of junk." "Nice car." You and Okoye spoke at the same time. "Ay, please be careful. Keys are on the seat." You thought about Okoye's previous experiences with other people's cars and prayed she didn't destroy this one too, it seems like it means a lot to Riri. Griot and Karen started counting down as you readied your blasters "You focus on getting out of here, I'll make sure you don't get hit." You told Riri as she redied her suit and nodded at you "Thanks."
The feds broke through the door and aimed their weapons at you "Oh shit, they got iron man suits!" One of them screamed as Riri took off and you hit their guns before flying after her. You had to admit the chase that followed was amazing, you hadn't worn your suit in so long and now flying through the air, running from the police, the adrenaline pumping through you, was pure bliss. Not to mention watching Riri in her suit that she made all on her own reminded you of your father when he had first flown his suit. Maybe a little bit too much like your father. "Ayo, they blocking off the bridge." Riri yelled as you flew beside her "I'll go ahead and start clearing a path!" You yelled as you started picking up some police officers on the bridge and dropping them off at random places. "Princess, there's a surveillance drone logged onto you." Griot informed Shuri telling her how high the drone was. "I've almost got everyone off the bridge, just give me a minute. I'll blast it!" You told the rest of them but Riri was already flying upwards "I got it! Come on Riri, gotta find the differential equations."
"Riri, I'm not sure you can reach that drone without an oxygen mask!" Shuri shouted back. You had finally cleared the bridge of all the police and went flying after her "My suit can take it. yours can't. Fall back!" You ordered her but she was too busy doing the maths. "The drone is no longer locked onto their location." Karen told you as you saw Riri falling down towards you. 'Great' you thought to yourself as you went after her grabbing her by the arm, shaking her a little. "Riri, wake up! Are you ok?" You shouted to her before she regained consciousness "I'm good, I'm good. Thanks." She started her suit up again and you let her go flying beside her "Anytime." You smirked before the drone struck the empty police cars and you all joined each other on the bridge. "Nice one guys!" Shuri cheered but the celebration was soon cut off by Riri coming crashing down being dragged by a grappling hook. "Riri?!"
Before you knew what was happening an explosion was heard and you felt a hard weight pushing you down to the floor. You felt pressure on the lower part of your body and you struggled to breathe without feeling immense pain. You looked around and saw that your helmet was damaged so it was darkness except for a large crack that showed your right eye your surroundings. You were lying on the road with glass surrounding you, it felt like you were in slow motion as you tried to look around with your hearing muffled. You then saw Riri in her suit, unconscious being dragged past you making you call out for her, only hearing your voice come out muffled. You tried again and the sound around you started to clear up. However, Riri was dragged out of your sight making you panic "Karen...what happened? What's going on?"
OK so I totally didn't stick to that writing schedule but oh well I'll just have to stick to it next year. I'll probably write 2 more parts to this, get into some backstory talk, have the drowning scene then let them go on a date. I hope this is good cuz I feel like I suck at writing for Riri other than what I used from the actual movie (which was a lot lol). Anyways, I need to write my English dissertation so probably won't have anything out until I've finished with that but thank you guys for all the support! And 129 likes on my last story? That's crazy, especially the likes from really good writers that I follow! My asks and DMs are always open if any of yall want to request anything or befriend me! Thanks for reading!
“Where’ve you been?”Simon said as soon as you walked in the door
“Um out”you said as he started to sniff you his pupils widening slightly
“You’ve been with people?”he said staring down at you
“Just my friends”you said nervously since you were lying you went to “hang” with a friend from work who decided to get physical
“Don’t lie”he said growling as you his claws digging into your shoulder
“I wasn’t!”you said in pain his dark eyes scanning over you before deciding to take off your jacket much to your protestes
“She hurt you”he said lowly you could feel the rage and anger boiling in him as he traced the scars on your arm
“I fell”you said as he buried his head in your neck leaning down as he started to scent you
“Don’t lie to me”he said as he took off your shirt eyes going as wide as saucers staring at the huge bruises
“I knew something was up when you got that black eye last week”he said as you looked down in shame
“Simon it’s nothing to worry about”you said pushing him off you as he hissed at you scaring and shocking you
“Yn we need to report this to your job police everyone!”he said baring his teeth as he pulled you roughly to lay down as he started to strip
“Simon please”you said quietly as he stared at the bruises all over your body
“My poor baby”he muttered eyes softening as he cupped your breasts as you winced cause of the pain
“Simon it’s ok!”you said as his hands roamed all over you touching the bruises lightly
“Hey!”you said as he took your phone out your purse unlocking it and calling someone
“Yes I would like to report a worker at your business….Jeanette milkson he’s been harassing my girlfriend he assaulted her many times….all the proofs here…ok thank you”he said as he set down the phone a peaceful look on his face
“What’d you do?!” You said sitting up as he forced you back down roughly
“I’m getting that bitch fired”he growled climbing ontop of you
“No no she’ll she’ll hurt me kill me bea-“he cut you off
“She’ll never hurt you again I promise”he said his grip tightening on your wrists pinned above your head
“Tell then it was a prank”you said as he flipped you over so you were laying on his chest his tail wrapped around your half naked form
“Why should I?”he snapped rubbing your back
“Cause she needs a job”you said sitting up to stare at him as his hand cupped your cheek
“Don’t care if she dies without one she hurt my precious and she needs to pay”he said lowly
“Precious? Also why’d you call me your girlfriend earlier?”you asked
“Because you are”he said
“No we’re not”you said
“We are”he growled out and you sighed cuddling closer to him on instinct
“See we are you feel comfy in my hold it’s meant to be”he said and you just nodded since you didn’t feel like arguing with him
“My special girl”he mumbled kissing your forehead as you two watched Kay’s cooking make a Vinilla slice and act a fool over it
doctor pt. 4
pairing: namor x fem! reader
summary: after taking some time to yourself, you allow yourself to understand.
word count: 6,349
tw: mention of death/murder, mention of wounds and blood.
a/n: thanks for hanging in there and being patient with me, everyone. you’re all so so appreciated!!! here’s the final part :)
Tumblr media
WEEKS CAME AND WEEKS WENT in Miami until about two months pass. You got up everyone morning, hopped on the train to work, worked until six or seven, took the train home, went to bed. Maybe you’d sprinkle in a work out or a lunch with a friend here and there, but nothing much changed. You hadn’t really spoken to your sister. And the team, well... there was no team, anymore. It was you and Dr. Mishra and Juliette, the secretary. The office was empty. Their empty chairs and cold coffee cups stared at you until you clocked out.
Every night before bed, without fail, you thought about Namor. That look on his face when he was just about ready to kill you. Then the look on his face when he had dropped to his knees, pleading for forgiveness. And then seeing Reynolds and Bernstein fall overboard. You’d squeeze your eyes shut and try and shut it all out until you’d eventually fall back asleep. Despite this, that jade-beaded bracelet never left your wrist.
You woke up in a sweat, your face pale from the horrors your mind had conjured and your skin cold and clammy from your thrashing and shivering. The trauma from the boat seemed to have followed you home to Miami.
The cuts had healed, the bruises, too, but the memories had not left. It was difficult to have Namor plaguing both your thoughts and your nightmares at the same time. There was a dissonance in your head, where in the day you’d dream of running back to that beach in Yucatán, and in the night you’d suffer the sight of him and his soldiers about to kill you.
You reached over towards your bedside table, picking up your phone and rolling over onto your side. There was a recent notification, it’s icon glowing green, that read Voicemail from Juliette. You let out a hmph and clicked it, pressing the speaker button so as to hear better.
“Hey Y/N, hope you’re doin’ okay,” came that sweet, swingy voice of your favorite secretary. “You’re insanely strong for still comin’ into work even after... well, after what happened. I’m calling to tell you to take a week off, all right? There ain’t no team for you to work with, but me and Mishra can hold down the fort for a bit, okay? You rest, visit your sister or something. You’re exerting yourself. Also, I’ve emailed you the number of my therapist. She’s great. Don’t be afraid to give me a call if you need anything, all right? I’ll see you in a week, okay? Don’t come to the office! Bye-bye.”
You huffed to yourself in frustration, slamming your phone down on the bed beside you. Visiting your sister sounded like a great idea, with the exception of being at such close proximity to Namor and his people. There would be no way to avoid the water of course, between your sister and her frequent strolls on the sand and your niece and her addiction to surfing.
Either way, you booked a flight for the next day. The entire flight down to Yucatán you wrestled with yourself, with your morality. Namor had killed people. Probably more in all his years of living, more than what you had witnessed. To forgive him was so forget those he had killed, even if they were horrible people like Bernstein or Reynolds.
But there was something about him that was magnetic. His brain, his loyalty, his pride of where in which he came. The regard to which he held his people, the passion to which he protected them. The way that he spoke, the eloquence of him, the complexity of his thoughts. He was cruel. He was beautiful.
“Oh god, you look like you’ve seen a ghost,” were your sister’s first words upon meeting you at the airport. You lugged your backpack off the plane, offering a weak but genuine smile at the sight of her face and sound of her voice. She hugged you tight, taking your bag from you. Touching a hand to your cheek, turning your face to examine you like your grandmother would, she remarked, “You’re pale as hell. What’d you do, kill somebody?”
You gave a weak chuckle. “I need a coffee.”
“You need more than just a coffee,” she said. “Let’s get you home. And get you a drink.”
The drive to your sister’s house from the airport was pleasant enough, the delicate voice of Lana Del Rey playing from her stereo and the soft morning light shining through the windows of the car. You stared at the horizon, just barely being able to see the blue ocean from where you were. You clenched your jaw and willed yourself to look away.
---
YOUR SISTER DECIDED IT WAS time for you to leave the house. She had dragged you out of bed to put on some nice clothes and then proceeded to pull you by the ear until you reached a local bar. Her husband was watching your niece, leaving the pair of you to your own devices for the night. You sat at the bar next to her, your classic Moscow Mule in your hand, zoning out to the unrecognizable music playing over the speakers.
“Noticia de última hora (Breaking news),” spoke the lady on the news, her formal dress on the small, pixelated television standing out from the high technicolor of the club. “La reina de Wakanda ha sido reportada muerta (The queen of Wakanda has been reported dead).”
Your head snapped up, eyes now glued to the television. Your sister was blissfully unaware, chit-chatting with the barista, who just so happened to be the mother of one of your niece’s girlfriends.
“La cause de la muerte: desconocido (The cause of death: unknown),” the reported continued. You took a large sip of your drink. “Princesa, ahora reina, Shuri aún no ha emitido una declaración. Esperamos ser informados sobre la situación pronto (Princess, now Queen, Shuri has yet to publish a statement. We hope to be informed about the situation soon).”
“That guy keeps looking at you,” your sister suddenly remarked, speaking loudly over the music. You flinched, ripping your eyes away from the television.
“Sorry?”
“That guy,” she lowered her voice and gestured with her chin to the man down the bar. “He’s been checking you out, tryna catch your eye.”
You glanced over to your right; sure enough, there was a man sitting five or six stools down from you, who, at the sight of you turning your head, quickly retracted his gaze.
You eyed him. Based on the sight of him, you estimated he was maybe six foot tall. He had dusty brown curls, with equally as bushy brows and a roman nose. Cute, you thought.
“You should talk to him,” your sister nudged your should. You sighed. You’d feel bad talking too much to this guy when your mind was still occupied on Namor. “C’mon, he keeps looking.”
“I dunno,” you ran a hand across your scalp. “We’ll see.”
“C’monnnn,” your sister dragged out. She picked up her drink and stood up. “I’m gonna go to the bathroom. I’m hoping you’ll be talking to him by the time I get back...”
And with that, she stood up and walked off, disappearing into the crowd. You rolled your eyes. Leave it to your sister to misinterpret your feelings and do something she thought would be good for you but might actually be horrible. You swirled your drink around, watching the vodka splashing against the sides of the class. She had good intentions, your sister, but you didn’t particularly feel like being alone with some--
“Hola,” came a soft-spoken voice from your right. You turned your head; it was the guy from down the bar, his eyes bright and his smile gentle. You blinked. “Uh... anyone sitting here?”
He gestured with his drink to the empty seat beside you. You shook your head no, bringing your cup to your lips to sip it as he sat down beside you. His voice held a slight accent, his voice wavering as if he were unsure whether or not to be speaking English to you as opposed to the Spanish that filled the club.
He twiddled his fingers on the glass of his drink, the condensation of what looked to be a rum and coke wetting his palms. He wiped his hands on a napkin and glanced at you.
“You’re not from here, right? I haven’t seen you,” he spoke, his voice deep and smooth like molasses. There was a charm to him, you had to admit.
“You’d be right,” you told him. “My sister lives here. I’m just visiting from Florida.”
“Ah,” he nodded his head. “My cousin lives in Key West.”
“Bit far from me. I’m from Miami,” you chuckled. His eyes widened. “Three hours from there.”
“Pedro,” he extended a hand. You took it, shaking it gingerly. Pedro smiled.
“Y/N.”
“Was that your sister, who you were just with?”
You nodded your head. “Yeah, she’s just running to the bathroom.”
“I know her,” he gave you a sheepish look. “I teach at the local elementary school. Her daughter’s in my class.”
It was your turn to have wide eyes and a smile. “No way! That’s amazing!”
“She’s a great student,” Pedro told you. “I feel like I can remember her mentioning her Tía once or twice...”
Your sister never quite came back from the bathroom. She shot you a text asking if it was all right for her to go right home, and you told her to do whatever she wanted. You continued to speak with Pedro, the conversation eventually straying from the topic of your niece and onto your work, and eventually onto your recent experience on the mining ship. Apparently, word had gotten out about you being one of the lone survivors.
Pedro offered to go for a walk on the beach to talk some more. Hesitant at first due to the water, you eventually agreed. It wasn’t like Namor was going to pop out of the water and reveal himself to you when someone else was with you. You exited the bar with Pedro after he oh-so-kindly paid for your drink, and with your sandals eventually coming off your feet and into your hands, your stride found the sand.
“That must have been pretty taxing, huh?” Pedro remarked when you told him the tale, leaving out the important detail of Namor and Talokan’s existence. “I can’t imagine going through that. You’re crazy strong.”
“All in a days work, I guess,” you shrugged, dragging your feet through the sand. You stopped, glancing off at the horizon, seeing the occasional tale of a dolphin in the far distance.
“Well, I feel bad for keeping you out too late,” Pedro checked his watch, shuffling in place a bit. “You’re a busy woman, I assume.”
“I am,” you smiled at him. “But it’s okay. Need a break every once in a while, y’know?”
“Damn straight,” Pedro nodded his head, running a hand through his dusty brown hair and glancing off at the horizon. He was standing pretty close to you, you noticed, and you weren’t sure whether or not to step back or not. “It was really great to meet you, Y/N.”
“You as well,” you told him honestly. You could sense him leaning towards you. “You’re a great listener.”
“You’re a great-- erm-- talker,” he said bashfully, covering his eyes for a second after saying that. “That was stupid, sorry.”
“It’s all right,” you chuckled. He laughed as well, his eyes glancing from eye to eye, and then to your lips for a prolonged moment, and then back to your eyes.
You couldn’t tell what you wanted, but even as he loomed closer and closer you figured you had less time to decide. By the time he was barely an inch from you, you figured you’d throw caution to the wind and go with it.
He pressed his lips onto your very gently, like he was nervous to do so, and while it was a great kiss, you almost flinched when you closed your eyes and only saw Namor. His great big ebony eyes, the feeling of the curve of his jaw on your palm, the aquiline slope of his nose. You felt your stomach turn, and you pulled away from him.
“I’m sorry,” you immediately said. Pedro’s eyes furrowed a bit, but he said nothing. “I... you’re really, really sweet, and... a great kisser...”
His lips twitched up in amusement.
“But I’m just not in a good place for this,” you told him honestly. “My last...erm... relationship ended on a weird note, and... I’m just not in the right place to be with anyone else. I didn’t mean to lead you on like this. I thought I’d be ready, but I... I’m really not. I’m sorry.”
“I get it,” Pedro gave a kind smile. “Thanks for being honest with me, at least. Weird note, huh?”
You breathed a chuckle. “Yeah. Super weird, super complicated.”
“I understand,” Pedro nodded his head. He reached into his pocket, grabbing a crumpled receipt from the bar and a small pen. He scribbled something down. “Look, I’m not telling you I’m gonna wait, but... if in a few weeks or so, you feel like you could be up to something, call me. If not, then it was just great to talk to you tonight.”
“You’re so nice,” you said sadly. “I’m sorry. I feel really bad.”
“Don’t,” Pedro insisted, handing you the receipt with his number on it. “Really. Take care of yourself, okay? You need a ride home?”
“No, that’s all right,” you shook your head. “I’m down that way. I’ll walk.”
“All right,” he smiled. “I’ll see you around, okay? I’ll tell your niece I met her legendary Tía.”
Pedro left, the only sign of his presence being the size-ten footprints painting the trail to where he went off to, and the lingering feeling of his lips on yours. You wiped at your mouth, feeling guilty, and squeezed your eyes shut momentarily. You needed to think.
The waves crashed behind you as you walked up to the waters edge, your bare feet pressed into the damp sand. The water didn’t quite run over your toes, rather it teetered right in front of them like it was nervous to touch you. You sighed, strolling along it down the beach towards the rocks, dragging your feet in the sand. Each step you took, the water didn’t touch you; it kept creeping next to your steps, hesitant, apprehensive.
You paused at some point, shifting your gaze onto where the water waited in front of you. Lips curving down, you sat down on the sand, your knees pressed together, and put your hands over your face. You didn’t think you would cry, but when you pulled your hands off, your palms were wet with salty tears. So were your cheeks.
Wiping at your face, the beads of your jade bracelet brushed against your jawline. You stared down at it, the beautiful weave-work, the intricate design on each jade bead. Fiddling with it, you stared off at the dark horizon, the moon’s pale light reflecting off of the sea as you felt more tears run down your face.
What was there to do? Each choice felt wrong; to call him, to forgive him for all he’s done and let him embrace you made you feel guilty. Hugging and kissing the man responsible for too many deaths to count. But leaving-- abandoning him, would crush you too much. It was all too much.
“Oh, hell,” you muttered under your breath, shimmying the jade bracelet off of your wrist and holding it up in front of you. Pursing your lips to choke back any more tears, you wiped at your face before drawing your arm as far back as it could go before launching the bracelet into the ocean.
It soared through the night sky, going surprisingly further than you had imagined, and as you watched it plummet towards the water, your heart clench. What had you done? That had been Namor’s mothers! You shot up to your feet, but before the bracelet had disappeared into the blue, a hand shot up out of the water. You froze.
The golden cuff on the hands wrist glimmered under the moonlight, the jade bracelet trapped under the strong fingers. Slowly, an arm followed the hand, followed by a head right next to it. Namor rose out of the sea, water rolling down his shoulders and chest, his brown hair turned black by the water dripping over his forehead.
Unlike usual, he wasn’t wearing his typically adornments; his neckline was void of the golden chest plate, and aside from the small golden cuffs on his wrists, all he wore was the green shorts he always wore. It was like he had suddenly gotten out of bed and fled to the surface without getting dressed.
You stared at him as he waded through the water towards you, the bracelet still in his hand. His face was downcast, bags under his ebony eyes and a frown on his lips. He walked up until he was right in front of you, your feet on the dry sand and his in the water.
Opening up his palm and staring down at the bracelet that laid there, he sighed and said, “Doctor, I hope you didn’t mean to do that.”
“I didn’t,” you said quietly, so soft he almost didn’t hear you. “Well, I did, but... I didn’t. I didn’t. I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry,” Namor told you carefully, his voice steady. You blinked at him, frowning, unsure what to say. He stared at the bracelet for a moment, before holding a free hand out to grab your wrist. His eyes shifted up to you for consent to touch you.
You lifted your hand out, and his calloused hands grabbed onto your wrist to slip the bracelet back over your wrist. You got deja vu to the night you first left him, when he gave you the bracelet in the first place. His hands never left your wrist then, and they didn’t now, simply holding onto it.
“Who... who were you with, just now?” he asked in an attempt to be subtle but failing miserably. You couldn’t help but smile a little. You shook your head.
“No one,” you told him honestly, not meeting his eyes.
“You kissed,” he muttered. You narrowed your eyes.
“So you’ve been watching me?”
Namor rolled his eyes, shaking his head and not meeting your eyes but never verbally denying your statement. His fingers fiddling with the string of the bracelet, not daring to look at your face. The brown-black hair on his head had begun to dry, swooping delicately above his brows.
You glanced down to his cheek, your own brows twitching in confusion. Three long cuts drew down the length of his right cheek. A scar had formed overtop of them, and they looked like they had been cleaned up and stitched real nice, but they were so red that you were sure they still hurt. You lifted a hand, as if to touch his face to examine them, but you dropped your head and leaned back, catching yourself in the act.
“What... what happened?” you asked him, staring at the cuts. He lowered his head, bringing the pads of his fingers up to graze over the three scratches. Namor said nothing, just bringing his eyes back up to meet yours, ebony irises trailing across yours. You forced yourself to break the eye contact and look at the cuts again; it was like they were claw marks. “Can you tell me?”
Namor opened his mouth, about to speak, but closed his lips and swallowed his words. You narrowed your brows at him.
“What did you--”
“Come with me,” he extended his hand suddenly. You blinked, glancing down at it.
“Sorry?”
“Please come with me,” he rephrased. You stared at his hand, at his calloused fingers and bronze skin. “I would like to show you something.”
“Tell me what happened first,” you took a step away from him, eyeing him carefully. He sighed, and in his silence, you glanced down to the wings at his feet only to see that on his left ankle, only one wing remained. In the place of where the other one once was a bright red cut that had been poorly stitched. His entire ankle was bruised. “Oh my gosh, your... your...”
“Talokan went to war,” Namor said bitterly. “Against Wakanda.”
You breathed a curse, only biting at the inside of your cheek. Your mind wandered back to the news report about Queen Ramonda’s death. You met his eyes and gave him a look, your heart sinking.
“You... you didn’t...?” you gulped, staring at him. His brows twitched upwards, his lips curving into a frown. “You didn’t. Please tell me you didn’t.”
“I had to,” he shook his head. “It was my people that were on the line.”
“You didn’t have to do anything,” you pointed a finger at him. “She had a daughter. You killed her mother. Can you even imagine what she’s going through?”
“I can,” Namor told you firmly, stepping forward. “And I have.”
You said nothing, just frowning at him. He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, gathering himself, before he looked back down at you.
“And that is why I need to show you this,” he put out his hand for you to grab again. “I need you to see where I am coming from.”
“Where are you taking me?” you glanced at his hand, meeting his eyes for a moment before sighing and taking it. You hand folded into his, your heart twisting at his touch.
“Talokan.”
---
THE JOURNEY INTO THE DEPTHS of the ocean was like nothing you had seen before. Namor had taken something out of his pocket, one of those devices you saw his soldiers wearing over their mouth and noses. You had barely held onto your consciousness as he swam you down there, and it wasn’t until you reached some kind of half-above half-below water area that you felt fully awake.
“Much ch'aik u ba'al u nook' síis yéetel jump'éel tin taasaj (Please grab her some fresh clothes and a suit),” you heard Namor speak. Your eyes fluttered open, and he had taken the device off of your nose and mouth. Your head was in his lap, you realized. “Níib óolal (Thank you).”
You blinked a few times to wake yourself up; glancing about you, you saw the color of the blue water reflecting off of the white stalactites and stalagmites around the cave, making everything appear to be shades of blue. You groaned, your head pounding as you tried to sit yourself up. Namor’s head snapped down to you.
“Oh, you’re awake,” he said, steadying you and helping you as you sat up. He had a small smile on his face as you glanced around, feeling discombobulated. He glanced over to his right, where a woman with blue skin stood. “Wa pudieras Mach ti' ba'al u jantej... jump'íit ja'...(If you could grab her something to eat... some water...).”
The woman immediately disappeared into some other room behind her. You blinked at Namor after watching the woman walk away. Clearing your throat, you croaked, “Is this Talokan?”
Namor chuckled. “No. This is a half-way point, so to speak. I have to get you in a suit. And out of these wet clothes.”
He lifted up your soaking wet sleeve before lifting his head and glancing elsewhere. You glanced down at yourself, realizing that your white shirt was soaking wet and entirely see-through. You felt your face get hot as you wrapped your arms around yourself, but you felt less uncomfortable then you would’ve though; Namor was purposefully not looking, his ears slightly red, glancing over at where the woman had disappeared. You saw the wings on his ankles flutter.
“Waye', K’uk’ulkan (Here, K’uk’ulkan),” in came another woman, carrying what looked like some kind of dress, as well as one of those little devices to go over your nose and mouth. Namor gave the woman a nod of his head in thanks, and, helping up to your feet, took the dress from her to hand to you.
“You may change into this,” he told you. You took it from you, the linen and cloth soft against your cold skin. You blinked at him. He blinked back.
“Not here,” you told him pointedly. “Where can I...?”
His lips curled up and he chuckled before pointing to a small room behind you. You went in and changed, stripping the wet clothes and shivering before you draped the dress over you.
It warmed you up quick, but without a mirror you had no way of telling if it was on the right way, so you assumed it would be fine. You emerged from the small room, and Namor smiled at the sight of you.
“Suits you,” was all he said, biting the inside of his cheek as if to stop himself from smiling to wide at the sight of you in Talokan’s dress. “Let’s get you into a suit, then.”
“What for?” you asked, following him as the pair of you ventured further into the cave. “I thought I could just wear that thing over my face.”
“Oh, no,” Namor shook his head. “You are human. The pressure of the ocean would crush every bone in your body. Even my considerable strength couldn’t save you from it.”
“You know,” you gulped. “You’re not really selling this underwater-city thing.”
“The suit will keep you safe,” he reassured you with a joking smile, opening up a rather large closet and pulling out a type of diving-suit. “Step in.”
The suit felt bulky and uncomfortable, but you were the knowledge that it would keep you safe so deep in the water had pacified your anxieties. Practically waddling behind him, the pair of you dove into the water, and he lead you to a stream of rushing water.
“In you go,” he said, nudging you so you were in it. Without warning, the water pushed you at top speed into the depths. You yelped, but glancing behind you and seeing him laugh at you made you a little less worried. It was still equally as terrifying.
The deep ocean was darker than you thought it would be, and at some point you couldn’t even see your hands in front of you. It wasn’t until the stream fell off that you realized there was a light coming from your suit, helping you see. Namor came to your side and guided you further across the sand.
A giant whale bellowed above you, making you flinch and jump inside the suit. Namor laughed at you as it swam by, waving to the three Talokanil that were holding into its fins. Your jaw was permanently agape, and Namor took you by the arm and pulled you towards Talokan.
It was like nothing you had ever seen before. It was reminiscent of all of the ancient mesoamerican artifacts you had seen in Yucatán, but entirely its own type of architecture and energy. It was practically dipped in vibranium, every building and structure shining under a source of light you hadn’t found yet.
Kids played with balls, women and their babies waved hello, others were farming further down below. Upon seeing Namor, those nearby bowed their heads and opened their palms to him, just as they had on the mining ship. Namor, always, greeting them back. Some stared at you like you were a ghost.
A child swam up to you, curious. She looked young, maybe four years old at most. She greeted Namor, to which he greeted her back with a grin, before she turned to you and tapped on the glass of your suit. You giggled at her, and she clung onto your arm, swinging from it.
Someone called out from the distance, and the girl only giggled more before letting her grasp on you go. She waved goodbye and swam away, laughing the entire way. You watched who you assume to be her mother, grab her by the waist and lift her, spinning her around with a grin. This place was beautiful, you thought. These people were beautiful.
You glanced at Namor; he was already staring at you, a smitten smile on his face. He didn’t look away until he gestured you to follow him again. You did so without hesitation.
Glancing off into the distance, was the sun. Well, maybe not the real sun, but it was almost as bright as it, and hung in the air as if it were setting.
“Woah,” you breathed out loud, staring at in wonder.
“It is called the Sastun. We use it for our rituals. In the depths of the ocean,” Namor said, staring at it as if it were the first time. “I brought the sun to my people.”
You turned to him, amazed. This was all his, you thought. He was in charge of protecting this entire nation. Your heart was churning in your chest, not just at the sight of him, but at the sight of all he had built here. You felt like crying.
“Do you see?” he asked you, breaking the silence and turning to face you. “You must know that I do not... kill... because I am cruel. Or for sport. I do it because I am willing to do anything for them. For this, I would kill a thousand vibranium-hunting scientists, if it meant keeping them from finding us.”
You only stared at him. The knowledge that he has killed never sat well with you. But, guiltily, you understood. This was his home. These were his people. It was his duty to protect them. You got it.
“Come,” he said after a very long pregnant pause. “Let’s get you out of that thing.”
---
EVENTUALLY, THE PAIR OF YOU MADE your way back up to the cave where you could survive without the suit or the device over your nose and mouth. Your clothes, to your amazement, were perfectly dry when you took the suit off. Wiping off the water that had dripped onto you from the taking off the suit process, Namor lead you into a room that was an offset of the main one that you had woken up in.
On the walls were beautifully painted murals, depicting what you assumed was the history of Talokan and it’s people. You stared at them, strolling about the room; Namor stood at the doorway, staring at you as you stared at the paintings. One was of a woman holding a child with winged ankles; you assumed it was Namor’s mother. One was of the Black Panther-- showing the battle you assumed he fought recently.
On the table, however, was a canvas. Around it and on the floor were crushed balls of papyrus, covering in smudged charcoal and ink. Namor hastened forward and grabbed the canvas off of the desk before you could see what was on it, and slid it into the drawer.
“What was that?” you asked. Namor shook his head.
“Unimportant,” he told you, very obviously lying. “Just... sketches.”
“Hm,” you squinted at him before sitting down on the chair. “These are beautiful.”
“Thank you,” he said earnestly, gazing up at them. He ran his hand over the one of the woman and her infant, his fingers tracing the face of the woman.
“Is that your mother?”
“It is,” Namor sighed. “I told you before that I could understand what the Princess was going through, and I was telling the truth. My mother wasn’t killed, no, but my people were. My mother and her village were driven from their maize farms by Spanish conquistadors who brought smallpox, hateful language, and dogma from another world.”
He dropped his hand from the mural, turning around to face you. He pulled up the other chair to sit across from you, sighing again and continuing.
“Facing starvation, war and disease my people turned to Chaac. Our god of rain and abundance. My mother was pregnant with me at the time. She did not want to ingest the plant, for fear of what it may do to me. But the Shaman was convincing. The plant took away their ability to breathe air, but it enabled them to draw oxygen from the sea.
“My people settled in the ocean, away from the war and were cured of their diseases. My mother gave birth to me here, and I became the first born son of Talokan. I was different from other Talokanil. A mutant. I looked different. I was small in size. A runt. But I could breathe the air our ancestors breathed.
“I could swim in the sky and aged slower. As she grew older, my mother mourned the life on land that she once knew and died with a broken heart. My mother made me promise to bury her in the soil of her homeland. But nothing could prepare me for what I would find.“
“What happened?” you asked, however you had an inclining that you knew exactly what he was going to say.
“Terror,” he told you, a grave expression on his face. “My people. Enslaved. By the Spanish.”
You swallowed. You knew it. You studied this in school, how the Spanish “explored” and conquered areas in Mexico and Florida. The look on Namor’s face made you want to cry.
“A Spanish man of faith cursed me as he died by my hand,” he continued, shaking his head. “Called me el niño sin amor.”
“Child without love,” you translated.
“And I took my name from that. Namor. Because I have no love for the surface world,” he grabbed a type of cape off of the back of his chair and draped it over his shoulders, fiddling with the cloth. “Upon returning, I was made King, recognized as K’uk’ulkan, and Talokan grew under my rule.”
“I’m sorry you went through that,” was all you could say. “That’s... I just...”
You could feel your chest churning, your eyes welling up. You were embarrassed of the level of your empathy, how much you cared; you hadn’t realized he meant so much to you, not fully. Hearing his pain, the struggle of his people, it was like living it. He frowned.
“I’m sorry,” you covered up your face. “I don’t mean to... I’m just--”
“Don’t apologize,” he moved his chair forward, gingerly removing your hands from your face and holding them in his own. “Please don’t. It warms me to see that you understand the gravity of the situation I am in.”
“I don’t think it was right of you to kill Queen Ramonda,” you told him, sniffling. “But I... I guess I...”
“I don’t think it was right of me either,” he admitted. “I think it ruined any chances of Talokan becoming peaceful allies with Wakanda. We are allies, now... but... it is not how I would’ve hoped.”
“I get that,” you told him, relishing in the feeling of his thumbs absentmindedly rubbing circles across your knuckles. There was a long silence. You were relishing in the warmth of him, his closeness. It had only been two months since you saw him last, on the boat, but even that, you realized, was too long.
“I must get you home, now,” Namor told you finally, a slight frown on his face, his eyes knowing. You gazed at him, your teary eyes unable to do anything else. He was right, you knew that; your sister was no doubt hysterical. But you couldn’t find it in you to move. “Unless, you... well...”
“What?” you tilted your head to the side.
“You could stay,” he shrugged. Your lips curled up. “Here. It’s safe, there’s plenty of food and water... many of my people stay up here. We could find a way for you to go down to Talokan without the bulky suit, and--”
“Slow down,” you breathed pleasantly, leaning forward and cupping a hand to his cheek. He shut up instantly, leaning into your hand. “I have a job. And a sister. I... I can’t just...”
“I know,” he heaved a sigh. “Worth a shot, no?”
“I can’t live here,” you told him. “But for the night... well...?”
Namor suddenly grinned, wider than you had ever seen him grin before. The apples of his cheeks had turned a berry color, the corners of his eyes crinkling. Leaning towards you, he pressed his lips onto yours. You could feel his smile through the kiss, and you couldn’t help but smile yourself as his hands cupped at the sides of your cheeks.
He led you to stand, getting to his feet as well, and pulled you flush against him. You breathed him in, finding it hard to smile as your lips moved against his. The pair of you wandered backwards towards the far wall that was empty of the mural.
Your back hit the wall, and you giggled against his lips as he moved to you two were practically chest to chest. Namor grinned too, pulling away from a second, both hands still on either sides of your cheeks, and he stared at you for a second.
“Nib óolal, Chaac, tuméen taasik teen ti' leti',” he mumbled to himself, kissing your lips again before kissing your cheekbones, your forehead, your nose, your neck.
“What’s-- that-- mean?” you asked, struggling o speak because he kept kissing you and interrupting.
“Nothing,” he grinned cheekily. You narrowed your eyes.
“C’mon,” you nudged him. He shook his head.
“You’ll find out later,” Namor told you, rubbing a thumb across your cheekbone.
“Promise?” you lifted up a pinky. He furrowed his eyes, staring at it. You giggled and peeled his free hand off of you, linking pinkies with him. “Pinky-promise.”
“That is ridiculous,” Namor declared. “Yes, I promise. I don’t understand this pinky-thing.”
You rolled your eyes and kissed him again.
I'm sleeping on the couch
Tumblr media
Summary: after an argument you decide to sleep on the couch Shuri ain't going for that.
A/n: this is tiny like really tiny.
Snippet from the fic: " "Shuri let go of me" you hit her shoulder but she doesn't budge "no you can get your grumpy ass back in bed and speak to me like an adult or I will start to treat you like a child" you let out an annoyed sigh as you turn around to face her."
"I'm sleeping on the couch" Shuri snaps her neck at you "no you're not" you grab your covers and she grabs your arm "Y/n I will tie you to this bed you can be upset with me but I will not take you sleeping in the living room" you roll your eyes and pull away from her causing her to sit up and grab you by your waist "are we going to do this tonight?" You know if she wanted to she could make you lie down so what is the use of even fighting? Well, the use is you're pissed off and you don't want to talk to her. "Shuri let go of me" you hit her shoulder but she doesn't budge "no you can get your grumpy ass back in bed and speak to me like an adult or I will start to treat you like a child" you let out an annoyed sigh as you turn around to face her. "Are you done? You know I won't let you stay mad at me for too long so talk to me in OUR bed. C'mon" Shuri pulls you onto the bed and you can't help but smile at how mature Shuri acts because most people would let you stay upset into the next day. "Alright now we can talk to each other face me look at me and talk to me I'm not going anywhere and neither are you." You sigh as she kisses your forehead then both of your cheeks "you can stay mad at anyone else except me don't stay mad at me talk to me because you're not getting rid of me any time soon. So you can get over that we talk this out like adults." You sigh as she wraps her arm around your waist.
You could never really stay too mad at Shuri because she would never let you stay too upset at her. It was a cycle that you'd start and she'd break before it could circle around and start again even if that meant apologizing when she wasn't wrong. She would do it for you without hesitation you weren't sure if that was healthy but you two never stayed in a bad situation for long because of it.
You sit in front of the throne room, your legs crossed as you nervously moved your legs up and down, trying to listen in on what the elders and Shuri were deciding on doing about the baby.
"I say we get rid of her and the baby." An elder proposed. "We don't need another repeat of Killmonger."
"Exactly." Another elder agreed. "And we don't even know is this baby is of royal blood."
"Not only that but this baby will be the grandchild of Namor. If someone like him has access to Wakanda? We've good for."
"This is an innocent baby you all are talking about." Shuri interjected, looking between the elders. "They haven't even been born yet, and you're looking to them as a threat."
"I say we let her have the baby and then once it's born we kill Malia and raise the child as our own." Elders added.
"We can't just kill her off like that.." Shuri muttered. "Eventually the child will grow up wondering what happened to their mom and then...killmonger all over again."
"So what do you suggest we do my queen?"
Shuri took a deep sigh, her fingers resting on her chin as she looked around the room.
▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱
The doors to the throne room opened up as Shuri walked out, you immediately stood up, walking next to her.
"Hey, what are you all going to do in there?" Shuri looked at you and then back forward.
"We've come to an agreement of what we're going to do to the baby. If it's not mine then, she'll be sent back to country."
"And if it is?"
You didn't even give her a chance to respond as your eyes opened wide. "Wait what? Send her back to her country? Are you crazy?"
You guys turned a corner as she just ignored your words.
"If it is mine, then she'll be sent back to her country, after 9 months, the baby will return here to be raised in Wakanda."
"Why are we sending her back to her country? Are you trying to get us all killed?!" You whisper shouted at Shuri who sighed deeply.
She pushed open the door to the infirmary to see the doctor standing there, Malia laying down on one of the beds and Okoye and your mother standing next to the wall, shaking their heads.
"Well? How far along is she?" Shuri asked, glancing between her ex and the doctor.
The woman whispered as she spoke. "8 weeks my queen."
You bit the inside of your lips. Fuck, that means she was pregnant when you hit her. Are you serious?
You looked down, you knew what they were going to ask next, if the baby was Shuri's or not. And they can find that out. You know that because an elder of your tribe had it forcefully done on you when he suspected you of engaging in sexual activities with the princess.
When Shuri found out of course, he was executed.
"Well, is it of royal blood?" Shuri asked.
The doctor showed some papers as she answered "The blood came out a bit clotty and the tests were hard to run because of this but so far, yes. It is your child, my queen."
You let out a shaky breath you didn't know you had in you as images of Shuri and Malia filled your head. You puffed up your cheeks and looked down and turned around. "God."
Shuri also sighed deeply and pressed her temples.
"What are we going to do my queen?" Okoye asked as Shuri thought for a moment.
"Keep her locked up for now. She'll eventually be sent back to her country. After 9 months, the baby will be brought back to be raised in Wakanda. Yeah.."
"Are you serious?!" You turned around to Shuri, furious as ever. You deeply cared about your country and she was a horrible decisions maker.
"She goes back to her country, okay, what happens next? Namor is enraged that she's pregnant with your baby and he knows all the key entrances to Wakanda. We're doomed, dead. Gone." You add to it.
"Well we know what they're planning, so we'll be ready for him?"
"Really? Ready for him like how you were all 'ready' for those last 2 attacks? HM?! Why don't you just kill her and the God-forsaken baby."
"Y/N, that's inhumane. I can't just kill her and an innocent baby...especially since she was my girlfriend for almost 4 years.." Shuri added.
"OH BUT YOU CAN LOCK UP THE ONE YOU KNEW FOREVER?!" You raise your voice at her sharply. Your eyes had turned dull and the only thing behind them was fury. You were seeing red, you felt like you were going to kill Shuri and Malia herself.
"Don't think you're out of the clear because of this whole Malia thing because you're not." Shuri snaps at you. She didn't even raise her voice this time but it felt like she did. She walks past you, leaving the infirmary as Okoye follows her.
▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱
You smile over to another person at the lab before turning back to your dehydration device. You were working on one of the heaters to try and distract your mind.
The whole Malia and Shuri situation had your head spinning in multiple different directions.
The guy you were working with at the lab was currently engaging with you in conversation and his voice kept getting drained out by your thoughts.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?" You look at him and he smiles warmly at you, repeating everything. "Oh yeah, you're right...this goes here..." You fix some stuff on the heaters before you hear a voice speak above you.
"Y/N, can I talk to you alone please?"
You look up to see Shuri staring down at you sternly and you gulp silently before nodding, wiping your hands on your white suit. You were too distracted with your thoughts to change.
She walked down the stairs and out of the lab as you followed. In the hallway, she pull you to a corner but her grip was less strong than you thought.
"Look.." She started as you looked up to her. She was staring at the ground nervously and you raise an eyebrow.
"What, you sending me back to Nigeria?" You ask and she slowly shakes her head.
"No..um, Okoye said some things to me earlier that really stuck with me and I feel like I owe you an apology." She looks directly in your eyes after the last bit, her stare now more genuine and sympathetic.
Your posture straightened as you folded your arms. "I'm listening." What an interesting change in direction.
"Ever since you got here, I haven't been..myself and I know that now because...because.."
"Because?"
"Because I'm still in love with you Y/N."
Your eyes widened at this revelation and you blinked multiple times. "What?"
"I know yeah, it's inappropriate and I shouldn't be feeling this way but I can't help it and I expressed that in the worst way possible and genuinely, I'm sorry."
"Shuri I-"
"We don't have to talk if you're uncomfortable."
"No, no." You interjected. "I'm just surprised is all." You weren't expecting that and if you're honest, you are also still in love with her, no matter how many times you guys argued or you cursed at her, you've just been through too much together.
"I...I'm still in love with you too and..there's no running away from it. I'm a grown-ass woman...we're grown-ass women, I mean you're 25, I'm 24...we've got a lot of growing up to do." You finish.
"You've got a lot of growing up to do." Shuri said.
You rolled your eyes. "Don't start with me now Shuri."
A small laugh came from her as you looked up to see her chuckling. A smile formed on your lips as you laughed along with her.
"I missed this.." She said, looking at you with genuine eyes. Those beautiful eyes that once held hatred behind them looked at you with love, reminding you of how you used to wake up with her every morning.
"Shuri.."
"You know, you would make a great queen if you weren't so stubborn." She said sarcastically.
"I would make a great queen because I'm so stubborn." You corrected her.
"Ah-" She started.
"If- If that was what I wanted.." You backtracked on your statement, putting your hands out. A few moments of silence went by before she spoke out.
"I...don't want to fight with you anymore Y/N." She voiced out, a small frown appearing on her face. "And I'm not asking you to date me or anything I just..." She paused and sighed. "You came here under work circumstances and it was unfair for me to treat you inappropriately so, let's just keep it professional for the rest of your stay or we could be.."
"Friends?" You asked, raising your hand for a handshake.
"Yeah, I'd like that."
Your hands locked together and she shook your hand, causing you both to smile.
Finally, peace at last.
▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱
It's been 2 weeks since you and Shuri made up and frankly, you've never loved being around her more. You were starting to see the more innocent and playful side of her that you loved being around. You 2 were always joking in the lab and you especially loved it when you and Riri joined forces just to bully her.
It was peace in Wakanda and the only thing stressful was the fact that Talokan could attack any minute now, which is why Shuri was taking out the whole staff to celebrate that night.
No guards, no work, just fun and dancing and that's exactly what you were doing.
Riri helped you get ready for tonight, she said you needed to get your "hoe" on. Not sure why, but whatever.
She had you wear RED lingerie because
"Red is the sexiest color duh," Riri said, shoving the savage x fenty set in your face.
And a bodycon black top that was slightly see-through, paired up with a leather skirt.
"Only on the cleavage and sleeve parts, I'll let you have your dignity."
Not that the top even had to be see-through for everyone to know what your cleavage looked like anyway.
"It's kinda your brand now, own it."
Matching black pumps and red lipstick.
"You're like the only person I know that fits red lipstick. Here, I'll do it. Not too much lipstick, only on the bottom, don't forget to blend in the liner and a bit darker on the top lip and ooo, gloss. Just a little bit tho, it works on you though right?"
Bold eyeshadow.
"We want them panties dropping TONIGHT!"
And for your hair, natural but with your edges done, of course.
"Your natural hair already looks like a Brazillian blow out so, not too much."
And a black purse with gold, to match.
"Okay, we're done and wow you look hot."
"I always do, let's be for real here." You say as you both laugh in your bedroom.
Currently, you were grinding with that same guy you were working with in the lab earlier. He had his hands on your waist as you guys moved in sync to the music.
Once it ended, you excused yourself from the dance floor, catching Shuri sitting down next to the bar with her shades on.
"Hey.." You wave at her, sitting a few seats away. You're not sure if she heard you but she gave you a slight not. You couldn't exactly tell if she was looking you because her shades made it hard to tell but you nodded right back.
You were planning to let lose tonight. "Can I get a bacardi please?" You signal to the waiter and they nod. You watch as they pour your drink before you smile and take it.
You down it like a shot, before placing it down on the table, feeling the burn as it slithered down your throat.
"Phew...I'm gonna go back over there." You were talking to Shuri but you figured she couldn't really care, she opened her mouth to speak but shut it just as quick.
"Okay.." You stand up and walk back over to the dance floor, feeling a bit nervous but relaxed soon enough thanks to Riri.
You guys hands interlocked as you both danced to the music. Eventually, as you pulled away, you felt 2 hands on your hips again and they felt way too familiar, like they've been around there before.
You figure it was the guy from before and you let it be, dancing along with them but your face dropped when you looked up to see Riri staring at you, eyes wide open, mouth hanging out.
Okay, it definitely was not the guy from before. You look over to her, raising an eyebrow as your eyes signal a "What?"
She mouthed with her hands desperately swiping over her throat. "The queen."
Horrified, you turned around to see Shuri looking down at you, her shades were gone and you could see nothing in her eyes but pure lust and arousal. And that she was definitely like half sober.
You don't say anything, your body unconsciously grinding against her. Her head lowered to your neck as you let out a shaky breath when her lips connected to your sweet spot. The spot that she just loved to tease.
"Shuri.." you muttered out, starting to get lost in the feel of it.
You were brought back to reality when a cold liquid hit your top. You look away to see Riri in front of both of you.
"Sorry. I guess I spilled, you might want to go to the bathroom to get things cleaned up." She signaled with her tone and her eyes.
"Oh yeah..sorry." You turned to Shuri who had stopped and broke through her grip. You walked over to the bathroom, your mind racing.
You let out a deep sigh as you entered. It was currently empty, which was great. You grabbed some towels as you started to wipe down your dress, your thoughts replaced with what would've happened if Riri never spilled her drink on you.
"Need help?"
You were pulled from your thoughts when you heard the door open, Shuri's voice along with it.
She walked behind you, taking the tissue from your hands as she wrapped on arm around your waist, the other helping you to wipe your dress.
As time went on, it felt more like her grazing your breasts than her helping you clean up. Eventually, she grabbed a handful of one of your boobs and you let out a soft and unexpected moan.
You immediately covered your mouth, embarrassed as she chuckled behind you. She let go momentarily, giving you a chance to leave but you didn't.
In fact, you did the opposite. It was clear that your body wanted her, craved her. That you craved her. You leaned into her and you watched as she smirked through the bathroom mirror.
She slipped her hand through your skirt, grazing over your pussy. You let out a small moan as she began massaging circles, applying pressure. You bit your lip as you threw your head back on her shoulder.
She took the chance to capture your lips with hers and you watch it all happen through the mirror but then she stopped and pulled apart.
"I think we should go somewhere more private."
Now that she had already given you a taste of pleasure, you couldn't stop yourself, you wanted more. You needed more.
▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱
warning: it's getting hot in hereee
As you entered her apartment, you looked around. Everything was still in contact from when you lived with her. The painting you made for your anniversary, still up on the wall.
You felt Shuri's arms wrap around your waist as she kissed you again, slowly and more passionately this time.
"Tonight, baby i want you."
She whispers between the kiss as you feel her hands taking off your clothes. You kicked off your heels as well, helping her out.
You guys walked backward, lips still locked together and hands roaming each other's bodies. She gently pushed you back on the bed till you were laying on the bed then she pulled apart and stood, looking at you up and down.
"Fuck..." She muttered under her breath as her hands reached down to touch your body.
"I love when you wear that sthandwa(my love).." Her lips connected to your neck as she slowly kissed all around it.
One of her hands wrapping around your neck as she turned your head, finding your sweet spot again, sucking on it now, hard but passionately.
"Mmm.." you moaned out as you felt a puddle forming in between your legs.
She didn't stop until the spot was dark purple before she pulled back, looking at your breasts.
"I missed these so much usana(baby)" Her hands grazed over your nipples, making them hard. She lifted you up slightly to unclip your bra before laying you back down again.
Her hands grazed over your nipples as she slowly took off your bra. Her lips connected to one of them, causing you to bite your lip, holding back an unGodly moan.
She sucked on them until they felt numb before she turned her attention to the other one.
She was being so mean, taking her time with everything and you knew she knew that you were craving her.
"Shuri..." you breath out as she looks up at you, humming in response.
"I need you to touch me.."
"I am touching you," She replied, lifting her head up as her panther chain dangled in your face. You hooked your finger around it to pull her face closer.
"You know what I mean, I want you to touch me..there.."
You take her hand and slide it down and around your curves until she reaches your pussy. She pressed her hand on it, earning a moan from you. Wow, she barely touched you and you were already cumming. You really needed her, huh?
"Fuck, I love when you get vocal entle.(beautiful)" She groaned as you wrapped your arm around her neck to pull her closer and kiss her.
She rubbed circles on you, lowering her hand before you felt her slip your panties to the side.
"OH-!"
You were caught by surprise when you felt her finger suddenly just slip in your wet folds. She found your clit without even looking because of course would...this was like coming home to her, she's been here before.
"Hm...? It's just one baby, you can take more than that right?" Shuri teased as you sighed.
"It just got me by surprise, that's all.." You muttered out, feeling her pump in and out of you.
Another finger slipped in, causing your hips to buck unconsciously towards her, earning for more friction.
"I think you're slowly killing me here.." You throw your head back, rocking your hips along to her rhythm.
Shuri chuckled as she kept to her pace before adding another finger suddenly, causing you to moan out suddenly.
Her pace slowed down as she used her free hand to hoist your hips over her shoulders. Once you were secure, she fastened causing your hips to jerk upwards.
You didn't even get a chance to moan out because that's when Shuri suddenly stopped and then she started hitting again but this time with more intensity and she was hitting your spot every time.
The spot that made you twist and turn like a worm. That made your toes curl up and look like it was doing gang signs. That turned you into a dumb babbling mess, that she just called you.
"OH SHURI, SHURI, YES, YES, YES!" You moaned out in pleasure as your vision turned white.
"That's it baby...keep going." Shuri groaned in your ear as she quickened her pace, you held onto her arm, feeling her restraint.
She was holding back but it still felt like you were getting hit with the force of a thousand bricks. She was strong most definitely.
She wrapped a hand around your throat, squeezing tightly and it felt like she was breaking your windpipe but you loved it. Filthy.
It felt like she hated you so much with the amount of force she was using and it felt amazing, euphoric even.
Your hips jerked again as you squeezed your eyes shut.
"SHURI!" You screamed out her name as she moaned even louder than you when she felt you clench around her fingers.
"That's it beautiful, ride it out...just like that.." She kept thrusting in you but she slowed down, letting you get down from your high.
You thought it was over, you were starting to sit up when you felt her take a long lick of your pussy, making you squirm but she held you in place.
She released her grip on your throat and you were sure her handprint was going to be there tomorrow.
"Oh my..." you breathed out, your back arching upwards as she took more slow, long licks.
"Shuri please...." You moved your pussy along her mouth, rubbing circles as you moaned. She pushed her fingers that were just in you, into your mouth.
"Suck." She instructed and you did just that.
"Mmm..." She looked down at you with hooded eyes before taking her fingers out of your mouth. Both her hands gripped your thighs as she held you in place.
You closed your eyes as her lips made contact with your folds. She licked them slowly, sticking her tongue in places you didn't even realize existed. She had you seeing stars, especially since you were already sensitive from your last orgasm. But she didn't care.
Your thoughts scrambled and fuzzed as you felt her tongue enter deep into you and then back out before going in and out again.
"Shuri you're so...soo...meannn.." Your words slurred together as you tried to gather yourself.
"Really? I like to think I'm being generous tonight."
And she was true, on a daily basis, she did way worse, she was a completely different person when turned on, it was crazy, a whole 360 change.
Eventually, your breathing started to get hasty and rushed as your whole body felt numb.
You looked down to see Shuri staring right back up at you as she feasted on you and your juices. The eye contact you made was intense and hot. You looked over to the mirror next to your bedside and the sight was enough to get you squirming.
"Oh Shuri, yes...just like that baby, just like that.." You put your hands on her head, forcing her to go with your rhythm. You rubbed your clit against her face, the friction becoming unbearable, especially when she wouldn't stop doing that with her tongue. Deep and fast strokes, it was driving you crazy.
"OH MY SHURI, BAST, OH GODDD!" You felt her slip another finger into you and as soon as she did that, she slipped 2 more.
The pleasure was enough to drive you crazy and it did. Your eyes rolled to the back of your head, your body gave out as you collapsed and screamed out her name.
"SHURI, FUCK"
Your breathing was ragged as you tried to catch your breath, your hand over you chest as you watched her clean up every drop of your release with her tongue. You looked back up at the ceiling as you felt her leave from between your legs.
After finally getting a hold of yourself, you look up to see Shuri walking out from her closet, naked and, 2 black boxes in her hands. She looked at you tilting her head.
"Pick one."
"There's more?" You breathed out as Shuri laughed. You've already been overstimulated, cumming twice already. Frankly, you haven't had sex in 4 years, there's only so much your body can take now.
"You're cute...pick one." Shuri instructed again.
You laid back in the bed, lazily pointing to her right hand. You watched as she opened the box, setting the other one down as she pulled out a double-sided dildo, powered by vibranium of course. It was a personal project she made just for you. It transmits energy and pleasure between the 2 users so you both can get off.
It still looked clean and fresh so could tell she hadn't used it in a while.
You turned your attention over to her body, her tattoos, the way her hair was slightly wet from sweat, her posture, her everything. She was just so attractive. You forced your head to look back up at the ceiling, taking a deep sigh.
Shuri walked over to you on the bed as she just looked down at you.
"You look so beautiful like this you know..laid out on our bed, waiting for me.." She whispered, causing butterflies in your stomach and vagina. Crazy.
She took the dildo and inserted the tip slowly into you but then stopped, moving it in and out slowly, making a circle shape as your hips slowly followed the pattern, causing you to moan out slightly, your eyes fluttering.
"You like that huh baby?" She breathed out before stopping sharply. "Look at me."
"I can't, even if I want to Shuri...I can't see, I'm blind." You say and it was true, your vision was currently fuzzy as hell and this normally happened whenever you and Shuri slept together, she just had a way of touching you that made you lose all your senses.
Shuri smirked before shoving the whole dildo into you, causing you to scream so loud, you swear a glass must've shattered or something.
"AGH! SHURI! SHIT!"
She silenced you with a kiss as she brought the dildo back out again, rubbing your clit with her fingers gently and passionately.
She used her hands to put your thighs on her shoulders before inserting the dildo into you slowly this time as she rubbed in circles.
She then inserted her side into herself causing her to moan through the kiss, allowing your tongue to slip through and wrap itself in hers.
The room filled with the noises of both your moans and your skin slapping against each other. She was just hitting your spot again with just so much force and the fact that you knew she was holding back from going harder made your mind swirl.
Your toes curled, your breaths struggled, your hands gripping all over and onto the sheets, your hips bucking and moving with her pace, and your vision was currently gone.
"Mmm, baby..." Shuri moaned into the kiss as she kept thrusting. You could hear her panting and struggling to keep her pace and composure.
"SHURI! MM!" You shouted as you held tightly onto her arms and thighs.
Her pace started to become uneven as she threw her head back getting lost in the pleasure.
"Just like that baby...just...like..fuck.." She struggled before she finally pushed you to the edge.
You screamed out her name again as your back arched so high, you could kiss the ceiling. She fell into you, pulling out the dildo but still pushing up against you.
You felt her cum hit your walls as you sighed. You guys stayed in that position before she finally pulled away, using her finger to push some cum back into you, filling you up.
You fell on the bed, lifeless, breathless and visionless. The rest of the night consisted of Shuri running a bath for you and giving you a massage while saying praises to you, as well as her changing the sheets and slipping on one of her shirts on you.
You had your legs wrapped around her waist, her hands fixed on your waist, one of them, moving up, squeezing your breast and then going up to cup your face as she kissed you passionately.
You willingly opened up your mouth as her tongue slipped in. You moaned into the kiss. This felt amazing, like coming home. Her warmth that you had missed for years.
She eventually pulled away before laying you down on the bed, kissing your cheek sweetly. She grabbed a bonnet from her nightstand and put it on your head. You remember this bonnet, you used to wear it all the time back when you guys were still together..and she kept it.
She eventually got in the bed with you, slipping the covers onto both of you guys, her arm wrapping around you as you sighed.
She held you close, like if she let go, you'd disappear.
"I love you so...so much baby...my beautiful girl.." She whispered sweet nothings into your ear as she rocked you to sleep.
Fuck, I am going to regret this tomorrow.
