Is anyone going to talk about Robin, El, and Lucas bonding over liking redheads?

i have not a clue what this is but I found it in my notesapp so here
El turns toward Argyle and asks, "Argyle, are you gay?" She sounds the word out.
Hopper chokes on his drink.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry I just taught her what gay means and she doesn't know about-" Will clambers to apologize but Argyle speaks over him, "I don't really vibe with labels, but I guess so, little dude." He ruffles El's hair and she giggles.
Will's mouth drops open and he stares at him. Jonathan is watching the exchange with slightly raised eyebrows.
"Well," Hopper clears his throat. He doesn't follow that up with anything. He just looks a little stunned.
"You guys are cool, right?" Jonathan finally speaks up, sounding a little more nervous than Will expected.
Joyce smiles warmly at him. "Yes, of course. It was just unexpected." She chuckles.
Jonathan looks relieved. "In that case," he shrugs, "I'm gay too. Full gay."
Will drops his fork. Jonathan looks at him and grins. "Me too." Will blurts in a moment of impulse. No one looks all that surprised. Rude.
"Me three." El adds, eyes bright.
"Me four!" Mike says from under the table where he was catching scraps in his mouth like a dog.
"What the fuck?"

Having thoughts of The Party being touchy as all fuck after everything.
Like you cannot enter nor leave any kind of hang out without a hug, high-five, pat, or anything from everyone you were hanging out with.
And then, suddenly, you aren’t able to leave without a kiss or hug of some kind from Steve.
It started after the bullshit that was the Starcourt Mall. The kids were leaving Steve’s house from a DnD session maybe 2 months before the Byers left for Cali.
Dustin was taking forever to pull his shoes on and get out the house to his moms car and everyone was complaining. It was one of those rare times where Steve wasn’t the one carting them all around— they all had their own rides.
Dustin got his shoes on and Steve handed him his bag and— without thinking— pressed a kiss to the top of his hat before waving him out the door.
The rest of the kids are silent until Mike speaks up bitchily “what about us, asshole?”
Steve has no idea what they mean until El points to her head with a grin. Steve deals out head and forehead kisses for everyone and waves them off to their respective rides.
And then it just— sticks. At first it’s with just the kids whenever he sees them. He’ll usually greet them with a hug or an exasperated sigh and then say goodbye with a kiss to their foreheads.
Not even Mike complains. This is the kind of shit he never got while growing up— might as well make the best of it.
And then it migrates to Robin as well, and the Nancy is joining in on the hugs (they’re still too awkward for the kisses but the hugs are enough for now).
And Steve never holds back, not even in public. Again, no one complains.
And that’s how Hellfire finds out about the kissing arrangement (that might be the title of this if I make it an actual fic). They watch as Steve presses a forehead kiss to Mike, Lucas, and Dustin before waving them off and then presses a kiss to Max’s head and giving her a tight hug.
The guys try to make fun of the kids for it but none of them are embarrassed.
“It’s Steve, dude. He’s like a mom.”
“The kisses are actually really comforting.”
“It’s a Party thing.”
And then the fuckery of 1986 and Vecna happens and suddenly Eddie’s in on the hugs and pats and high-fives.
And then.
And then.
He’s in on the kisses.
Steve doles out the kisses like usual one night after Hellfire and gives one to everyone— including Eddie.
And Eddie panics and gives Steve one right back.
And then the kids are going feral about wanting to give Steve a kiss too.
And Eddie leaves during the chaos.
And then they don’t talk about it.
Until Steve and Eddie do it again.
And the kids accept is as the new normal; you have to give Steve a kiss back.
And then Steve and Eddie have an excuse to kiss each other on the foreheads and cheeks and noses.
One night they’re hanging out, just the two of them at the trailer after Wayne left for work.
Steve had greeted Eddie with a tight hug the moment he’d gotten in the trailer. Eddie had squeezed back just as tight if not tighter.
Steve was getting ready to leave, and on instinct leant in to kiss Eddie, but Eddie was also leaning in to kiss Steve. So they meet in the middle and accidentally kiss on the lips.
And then the new normal for Steve and Eddie is kissing on the lips goodbye.
Idk, just Steve being a very touchy feely person makes me so happy

using food to indicate queerness
this scene was so queercoded for both Mike and El like Mike calling fruit on pizza blasphemous (against God) and not wanting to try it because he grew up in a homophobic and conservative town and he has internalized homophobia and prejudice but then when he tried it he said it was good (while the camera was on Will) while El grew up in a lab and obviously she doesn't have any prejudice or bias against things so she just tried it without complaining because Max told her that to understand what you like you have to try things on and she said it was good and they already used food to indicate queerness like Vickie with peanut butter (putting peanut butter on both slices of bread and called it a peanu butter monstrosity and she had a boyfriend who broke up with her and she likes Robin and will be her girlfriend in s5 and Mike's been paralleled to her and he's in love with Will) and she's bisexual, so basically Mike's gonna kiss Will first (and Will's gonna kiss him back)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i also think Max is bisexual because she said "there's more to life than stupid boys" while Will said "a day free of girls" because he's gay and Mike said "i have an idea, boys only" because he's gay
They already used food for symbolism, Mike wants to feel needed, Will needs him and El doesn't

Sometimes, I forget that half of the fandom is homophobic and I'm just like ???? There are two canon gay characters (at least for now) and the whole cast has gay ships. If you're homophobic, this show is not for you. So get the fuck out.

Vampires in the Dark
A/N: I was just going through my draft folder, and I found this little gem.
Summary: Steve dies in his sleep and wakes up a vampire. Also, why is he suddenly thinking about his own ass with images of himself wearing Eddie's vest?
Steve went to sleep after the gates closed. His bat bites were still killing him and kill him they did. He went to sleep that night and succumbed to his wounds. Yet, he still woke up the next morning. The sunlight streamed through his window and hit his skin harshly. Steve groaned and rolled out of bed, rushing away from the beam of light. His head was killing him as well as his gums. He went to his bathroom and brushed his teeth. It didn't help.
He took a shower and turned the water to cold when the hot water nearly burned his skin. After his shower, he realized he was hungry and whipped up some breakfast for himself, but it did nothing for him. Steve frowned. He looked at the clock. Shit he was going to be late. He was supposed to pick up Robin and meet the others to help with cleanup. He grabbed a pair of sunglasses and rushed out the door.
"What's with the sunglasses?" Robin asked as soon as she got into the car.
"The sun is killing me today," Steve said.
"It's not even that bright out," Robin said. "How's your bites? Are you feeling rabid yet?"
"No," Steve scoffed. "They're actually fine. The pain is completely gone."
"What? They were killing you yesterday. You were so bad, Joyce insisted that you didn't come today," Robin said. "You're going to be in big trouble when she sees you."
"Seriously, I woke up this morning and felt fine. The bites are even closed up. I mean, the sun is killing me, and even though I ate this morning, I'm still hungry. I've been having these weird thoughts today too. Like at one point, I was humming Metallica, and I was weirdly thinking about my own ass. I also couldn't get the image of me wearing Eddie's vest out of my mind," Steve said. "So, it's definitely been a weird morning."
"Maybe you miss Eddie," Robin said softly.
"No, I definitely do," Steve said, gripping the steering wheel. "It's not fair!"
He pulled over, breathing heavily, gasping for air. He couldn't breathe. Tears prickled and burned in the corners of his eyes. He let out a sob. Robin placed a hand on his shoulder and began to rub his back.
I'm still here, Stevie. I'm still here.
Steve snapped up and turned to Robin, wiping away his tears.
"Did you say something?" Steve asked.
"Um, no."
"I think I'm going crazy," Steve said.
"You're grieving, Steve," she said softly.
"But I barely spent any time with him at all!" Steve exclaimed.
"It's not about the quantity of time you spend with someone but the quality," she said.
"I think I really liked him, Robbie," Steve said.
Oh, Steve.
Steve and Robin pulled up the center of town where everyone was helping with clean up. Even though the gates were closed, it still left behind a huge mess. Houses were destroyed, and City Hall was still split down the middle. They were currently working on trying to salvage what they could. They got out of the car, and Robin hurried over to his side.
"Show me your bites," Robin glared. "I need to see if you're telling the truth."
"Robin!"
She pulled on his polo, tugging them out of his pants and raised them up. Robin's eyes widened.
"Okay, no way in hell. They're closed up alright, and they look like they healed a long time ago," Robin said. "Oh my God, Steve! Your skin is burning! In the shade now!"
Robin pushed Steve behind a wall, away from everyone, and his skin stopped sizzling.
"Okay. That was weird!" Steve said, frowning.
"Oh God! I have a theory!" Robin exclaimed.
Before he could stop her, Robin ran off. She ran towards Hopper and Joyce.
"Where are the kiddos?" She greeted Joyce.
"They're with Max. They haven't left her side since she woke up, I left them to it. They can help out later," Joyce said.
"Oh, good!" Robin exclaimed. "We have a problem."
"What is it?" Hopper asked with a sigh.
"There's something wrong with Steve," Robin said.
"I told him he needed to see a doctor," Joyce sighed. "Are they infected?"
"I think you should just come with me," Robin said.
Hopper and Joyce followed her to where she left Steve. He was no longer leaning against a wall. He was kneeling on the ground with his back to them.
"Steve? Honey? Are you okay?" Joyce asked.
He turned to them, a dead cat in his arms, and blood on his mouth.
"I'm not hungry anymore," Steve cried.
"I think Steve’s a vampire," Robin said.
Hopper and Joyce followed them back to Steve’s house. Joyce was quick. She started fussing over Steve as soon as they set foot inside of his house. She wiped blood off his mouth while Hopper hovered nearby.
"He's not going to hurt me, Hop," Joyce said.
"How do you know that, Joyce?" Hopper asked.
"Because he went straight for the cat instead of Robin," Joyce said.
"I love cats," Steve said sadly. "I wasn't going to mention it, but you guys have a weird smell that puts me off. I think I'm a vampire who prefers animals. I really do NOT want to eat another cat again, though."
"You don't feel you're being controlled at all?" Hopper asked.
"No, I mean, there's this voice in my head, but I think it's just because I miss -," Steve cut himself off.
I'm still here, Steve. I'm right here, big boy. Listen to me. I got trapped here, and I don't know how to get out. I've been trying to reach you, I don't know how, but I feel you more strongly than before. I can hear you and now I know that you can hear me! JESUS H CHRIST! ANSWER ME! I don't want to be crazy. I killed Vecna. I brought him down!
Suddenly, an image of Eddie fighting Vecna and ripping his throat out with his teeth filled his mind. Eddie was running as the world shook around him as he tried to get to the gate, but it slammed closed in front of him, and Eddie was screaming on the floor of his trailer.
I can hear you.
"Steve?!" Robin was screaming at him and shaking him.
"I'm okay," Steve said, shakily.
"What was that?" Joyce asked.
"You know how we thought that Vecna died of his wounds?" Steve asked.
"Oh, God, he didn't? Is he still alive?" Robin asked.
"No, no, no! He is definitely dead, but we didn't do anything. Eddie killed him," Steve said.
"Eddie's dead," Robin said.
"He died, but he came back, and he's like me. It's why I can hear him," Steve said. "He's stuck in the Upside Down. Robin, he died, and he turned into a vampire. Oh. Damn. I think I died last night."
"Oh, Steve," Robin said tearfully. "You died."
"How sure are that he's in there?" Hopper said.
"I don't know. How sure was Joyce that Will was in the Upside Down?" Steve asked.
"Will was her son, and she loved him," Hopper replied.
"Right," Steve said, growing flustered. "I mean, I definitely - he's a good friend, and we haven't gotten to know each that well, but I would like to, you know, as friends, which is why I think we should try to get him out of there. He belongs with me - I mean, us!"
"You don't have to say anymore if you don't want to, honey," Joyce said. "Of course, we're going to help him."
"We're going to have to open a gate, Joyce," Hopper said.
"I know, but if what he's saying is true, then that means Eddie saved the world. We need to try," Joyce said. "One last time. What would you do if it was me?"
Once they came up with a plan, it was decided that they would do it at night in a few days. Robin had wanted to come with, but Hopper thankfully decided the fewer people the better. Owens' people were still guarding the sights of the gates, but Hopper managed to get rid of the guards surrounding the place where Fred died. It was easier to get through that way. Unfortunately, it meant that El had to get involved, and, of course, she was quite eager to help the man who helped save her friends and the entire town.
"Dustin is very sad. I do not like it," El had said. "Am I going in with you?"
"No, absolutely not," Steve said. "No, all you are doing is opening the gate. In fact, I am going to go in alone."
"Steve - ," Joyce protested.
Steve sighed and took out his knife. He sliced his palm and held it up so they could watch his skin stitch itself back together.
"I can heal. You can't," Steve said. "If anything goes wrong, close the gate behind me."
"Steve, you don't have to do this alone," Joyce said.
"I'm not. You guys are going to be on the other side waiting for us," Steve said.
"You're a good man, Steve," Hopper said. "You better come back. Can't lose another kid . . . No matter what, you're our kid."
Steve fought off the tears as Hopper pulled him into a hug. Joyce pulled him out of Hopper's arms to hug him tightly, and then it was El's turn. El opened the gate, and Steve glanced at them one more time before crawling into the Upside Down. He had hoped he wouldn't have had to step foot in this place again, especially so soon. He could feel him.
Hey, Stevie.
Steve grinned and followed Eddie's presence all the way to the Munsons' trailer. Eddie was sitting on the steps and flashed his dimples at the sight of Steve. They moved at the same time, and then they were running towards each other. The two vampires embraced each other tightly, nearly bringing each other to the ground when they collided. Steve trembled in his arms tightly.
"I'm sorry we left you here, Eddie," Steve sniffled.
"Hey, none of that," Eddie said, pulling back to cup his face. "I was dead. You had to get out of there. I'm not mad."
"You're not?" Steve asked softly.
Eddie smiled, leaned forward, and placed a soft kiss on Steve’s lips. Steve returned the kiss with great enthusiasm, gripping the back Eddie's ripped up jacket. They broke the kiss and leaned their foreheads together.
"Come on, big boy, they're waiting for us," Eddie said.
"Right, right," Steve said.
Steve grabbed his hand and began pulling him along. As soon they crawled out, El closed the gate, and they were quickly ushered into the car. It was quiet as they drove to Steve’s house, and they soon piled into the house. El was the first to approach Eddie.
"You saved my friends and Hawkins," El said. "Thank you."
"And you must be the supergirl who saved our asses multiple times," Eddie said. "It is I who should be thanking you."
"Wonder Woman," El corrected. "I like Wonder Woman."
"A girl after my own heart. Really could have used the lasso of truth sometimes, huh?" Eddie asked.
"Max says it would help to use it on Mike," El said with a smile.
"Yeah. Love that kid, but he's a tough nut to crack," Eddie said.
"I like you," El giggled.
"I like you too," Eddie said, booping her nose. "Oh, I think you have something in your ear."
El gaped when he pulled a quarter out of her ear, and Eddie grinned as he showed her the trick. Meanwhile, the other three were leaning on the kitchen, watching them fondly. Steve tilted his head as he watched them. He leaned close to Hop.
"You know, they kind of look a like," Steve said.
"They do," Joyce said. "Do you think they might be related?"
"Huh," Hopper said, narrowing his eyes at them. "I'll look into it but I doubt it."
"I should probably teach Eddie how to feed," Steve said. "As much as I hate to break this up."
"I am hungry," Eddie said. "Now that you mention it."
"Come on, out in the woods," Steve said.
Steve walked out the back door with Eddie, leaving the others inside, and grabbed a bag by the door. Once they were away from prying eyes, Steve reached over and took Eddie's hands. Eddie grinned and intertwined their fingers.
"What am I excepting here?" Eddie asked as they walked into the woods.
"We're going to feed on animals," he replied.
"We're not going to kill them, are we?" Eddie asked as he went pale.
"Of course not. It's sweet that you're worried about that," Steve said and kissed his cheek. "We're going to find a deer now. Focus and use your senses."
It took a while, but eventually, they found a deer. It helped that they could see in the dark. Steve held the deer gently and exposed its neck to Eddie.
"You'll feed right here, and I'll show you when to stop," Steve said. "After that, you should be able to know when to stop feeding. When you get done, lick the wound."
Eddie gave him a weird look before exposing his fangs. He sunk them into the deer and drank deeply. Steve began stroking the back of his head, and Eddie's eyes fluttered. Steve yanked at his hair and pulled him back. He was done.
"Jesus," Eddie said.
"Now, lick the wound," Steve said.
Eddie gave him an odd look, but he did what Steve told him. Eddie grinned when the skin started to stitch itself back together.
"It's healing!" Eddie exclaimed and laughed.
"Yeah, now get the food and water out of the bag. Give it to the deer," Steve said.
"That's fair," Eddie said and cooed as he fed the deer.
Steve smiled and watched him pet the deer before sending him on its way.
"It's still very weird, but it's better than feeding on humans, and we'll certainly draw less attention this way," Steve shrugged, and Eddie stared at him. "What?"
"What do you think it's like for vampires to feed off each other?" Eddie said.
"I don't know, want to find out?" Steve asked.
"Yeah!"
Steve smirked before pinning Eddie to the ground, his hands above his head.
Meanwhile. . .
Inside the house, Hopper, Joyce, and El were waiting patiently for them to return. They needed to discuss Eddie's return and how they were going to announce it to the world. Plus, Hopper was curious to know if they could handle not one but two vampires living in Hawkins. There were so many things to talk about.
"They should have been back by now, right?" Joyce asked.
"I will go check on them," El said.
"I don't think it's a good idea for you to go out there with two vampires in the middle of a hunt," Hopper said. "I'll go."
"Do you have powers?" El asked.
"Well, no," Hopper frowned.
"Then I will go," El said.
"There's no use arguing with you, is there?" Hopper sighed. "Fine."
El went out the backdoor and came back a few minutes later.
"They are alright. I did not see them, but Eddie is making happy screams. Whatever Steve is teaching him, Eddie keeps agreeing with him a lot," El said and paused. "Mom? Dad?"
"What is it?" Joyce asked softly.
"Why would Steve call Eddie Daddy? Eddie is not Steve’s father," El frowned.
Joyce almost choked on her water as she laughed.
"You want to take this one, Hop?" Joyce asked in amusement.
"I do not," Hopper said with a groan.
"I will ask Mike," El nodded. "Once they know Eddie's alive."
"You will not! Alright, fine! I'm going to need to sit down for this one," Hopper said. "And a drink."
Once they came back, Hopper was glaring at them, and El's face was a little red.
"Did we miss something?" Eddie asked.
"I'm happy for you guys, I really am, but next time, keep it in the bedroom so I don't have to explain to my daughter again why Steve likes to call Eddie Daddy," Hopper said.
"Oh god!" Steve exclaimed, covering his face with his hands.
"Sorry about that, Ellie," Eddie winced.
"I did not see anything, but you are very loud," El replied.
"Sorry. Again, I'm so sorry."
The embarrassment that had settled over the lot of them had faded over the last couple of days. Although, Joyce still thought it was funny. Eventually, people learned about Eddie's return, and so, over the next few days, Steve’s house was filled with people. He watched as Eddie was tearfully reunited with his uncle and the rest of Corroded Coffin, Eddie introducing Steve with a huge grin on his face. His reunion with his uncle had made Steve tear up, but when Eddie was reunited with Dustin, he let the tears fall as Eddie and Dustin pulled him into the hug. He held them both so tightly, never wanting let either of them go.
"Mother reunites son with baby daddy," Robin said. "That's a great headline."
"Fuck off, Robin!"
It was strange, despite the fact that Eddie and Steve were technically dead, he never felt more alive than in this very moment.

Holy shit!! I’ve never made a tag list before?? Thank you guys sm for being so into it!! And without further ado;
Steve woke up with the initial thought of “what the fuck”. So he could automatically assume his day was going to go great.
Out of his room, down the hall, down the stairs, through the living room and into the kitchen is where he finds Jonathan and— oddly enough— Robin.
Steve was used to finding Jonathan with him after one of his “episodes”. Usually he or Nancy will help him through it the best they can, laying with him or sitting with him wherever he is.
The idea of Robin in his house doesn’t even occur to Steve as weird until Robin says, “Sorry for the intrusion, uh… you really freaking worried me, man.”
Steve blinked— then, without taking his eyes off of Robin, asked Jonathan “Where did I have my episode at last night?”
Jonathan had the decency to look sheepish about it. “Uh— pfsshh, you had it at work, Steve.”
“And how bad was it?” He looked at Jonathan.
“You collapsed and had to be carried to the break room to rest. And the fact that you don’t seem to remember much of anything is also saying a lot.”
Steve stood there, thinking long and hard about yesterdays events.
“I remember Billy coming in and saying something about Max. Then he said something about Dustin that pissed me off. I don’t know. After that… who the hell?..”
Munson.
Holy shit.
Jonathan must’ve clocked the moment of realization cause he walked over and patted him on the shoulder. “Yeah, man.”
Steve groaned and hurried his face in his hands. “That’s so embarrassing!” Was his muffled complaint. Robin— the asshole— had the nerve to snort at him.
“Hush, Buckley! Ugh I hate this.”
Jonathan was rubbing his back now, barely hiding his own snickers and laughs. “Come on—“
“I have to go,” Steve said quickly and went to turn around to leave.
“Where are you going? This is your house!” Robin retorted.
“I have to go apologize!”
Jonathan snagged Steve’s wrist and prevented him from going any further. “Go sit down, Steve. You can apologize later.”
Steve begrudgingly obliged, sitting at the small kitchen table that was usually used for his dads drinking. He crossed his arms and put his head down. He’d fucked up his vision again when he spun around too fast to leave. Jonathan sighed and came up to rub his back again. Physical touch helped Steve a lot during times like these. Especially during the vertigo.
Robin took the seat next to him. “So, two concussions? If you were having such a bad time why didn’t you just call in?”
“Cause I’m constantly late to work and the only reason I haven’t been fired and kicked on my ass is because you keep covering for me so I figured I had to return the favor,” he replied in one breath.
They were silent for a couple of minutes, just basking the each others presence. Until Jonathan stopped rubbing Steve’s back, let his hand rest there, and then patted between his shoulder blades twice before going over to the pantry.
“You need to eat something before you do anything. Robin can you get him a cup of water, please?”
Robin nodded and stood to get it. Steve groaned. “I can get my own water, Jon.” but he’d made no attempts to move from his seat. Jonathan muttered something about toast.
“Considering the fact that yesterday you just about passed out on your feet and how a few minutes ago you nearly fell over just by turning too fast, I’d like to differ.”
Steve huffed, knowing he was right. He heard the toaster start and glass was set down gently in front of him. He lifted his head and eyed the water.
“I didn’t poison the damn thing, dingus.” Robin tapped her fingers on the table.
Steve snorted and finally took the glass. He was done with it in seconds.
“Christ,” Robin muttered while refilling it for him.
When Steve was just about done eating his toast and downing another cup of water his house phone went off.
“I’ve got it.” Jonathan stood.
Steve shrugged and stood himself— slowly this time— to put his dishes away. Robin remained seated and watched him.
Jonathan huffed and pinched the bridge of his nose. Steve furrowed his eyebrows and walked over, trying to hear the conversation.
“Yeah— no I’ve got it, don’t worry. I love you to. Bye.” Jonathan hung up and sighed heavily.
“You alright?” Steve leaned on the wall next to him.
“Yep. Great. That was my mom, by the way. And apparently the kids are all on the loose in Forest Hills, looking for Eddie.”
What the fuck?
“What the fuck?”
“Yeah.”
“So…” Robin stood. “I’m going with Steve?”
Max was curious. They all were. Just who the hell was Eddie Munson? Steve had never mentioned him before, but from the looks of it both Jonathan and Steve knew him.
Will had wanted to ask Nancy about him, saying how Jonathan said they all went to school together, but Mike refused to ask Nancy about any of this other than asking about migraines.
So they were on their own.
Max took her skateboard and the boys took their bikes (Will riding with Mike) and the four of them made their way to the trailer park.
Max was running on borrowed time, telling Billy that she was going over to the Byers’. And if that’s not where she is in the next 2-3 hours when he comes to pick her up then she’s done for.
But it’s fine. They figure out where Eddie Munson lives in no time. It’s not a very big trailer park, and “Eddie Munson” seems to be a pretty recognizable name. A nice old lady named Miss. Bottomette pointed them right down the street from her own trailer.
The four of them made their way over, dumping their bikes (and skateboard) in the yard— not bothering with kickstands. Max and Mike shoved their way in front of the other two, both going to knock at the same time.
Mike gently shoved Max to the side when the door opened, now all three of them being behind him. Standing at the door wasn’t Eddie Munson, unless he’d aged 50 years in past 24 hours. The new man was a lot older, and was just a bit taller than Mike. He looked the four of them up and down before leaning on the doorway and crossing his arms.
“What can I help you kids with?”
Will gulped. He didn’t like adults and especially not ones with heavy western accents that look like they’d kill him if he so much as breathed wrong.
“Um— we’re just looking for an uh, an Eddie Munson, sir,” Max tagged on from behind Mike. Will reached over subtly and grabbed someone’s hand, he thinks it’s was Lucas’. Why the hell was this guy so scary?
The man had a gleam in his— something like amusement. It kind of pissed Mike off but he knew better than to get pissy with an adult he’d just met. Especially with how Will was reacting to him.
“Well,” the man chuckled, “I’m not sure what you kids need with ‘im, but he’s not here right now. So why don’t you go back home, huh?”
He went to close the door but Mike spoke up. “Wait! Please— we uh— we really, really need to talk to him. Even if it’s just for a couple of seconds!”
“If he’s not here do you know where he is?” asked Lucas.
The man studied them all closely, his eyes raking over them each individually. As if they were threats. Mike nearly scoffed to himself.
Finally the man gave in and sighed. “Why do you wanna see Ed so bad?”
Max tapped her foot really hard on the wooden porch. When everyone jumped and looked at her she put her hands up. “Sorry! Got excited.”
Lucas spoke up this time. “We, um— wanna thank him? And ask him a few questions I guess. He helped out one of our friends yesterday and we really really just want to talk to him, please. Sir.” he tagged on the “sir” like an after thought.
In the next few moments, they found themselves piling into the very small, very cramped trailer living room.
“I’m Wayne, by the way. Wayne Munson, Eddie’s uncle.” he finally introduced himself. He raised his eyebrow at them. Oh yeah, they have to introduce themselves as well.
“Oh! Um— I’m Lucas. Lucas Sinclair.”
“Er— Max Mayfield.” she crossed her arms.
“Mike Wheeler.”
“Um, uh—“ Will grabbed Mikes hand “—Will Byers.”
Mr. Munson’s eyes seemed to study Will extra hard. Mike gripped his hand and squeezed to let him know he was there. Even Max and Lucas moved in slightly closer to Will. They didn’t understand why this guy seemed to come off so mean.
“Hey Uncle Wayne! What’s taking you so long at the door, man?” The man of the hour showed his face at the end of a small hallway. His brain seemed to short circuit at the sight of all the kids in his very small and very cramped living room.
“Um, hi?” Lucas greeted awkwardly.
Eddie leisurely made his way into the room with him. “Aren’t you Harrington’s kids from last night?”
“We’re not his kids,” Mike grumbled under his breath. But he couldn’t deny the spike of joy that came with the title.
Mr. Munson looked at Eddie like he’d lost his mind. “Harrington’s kids?” he put extra emphasis on “Harrington”, as if it was actually so weird.
Max rolled her eyes.
“Yes, Harrington’s kids,” she said under her breath with heavy sarcasm.
Lucas shot her a glare and she grunted.
“Well—“ Eddie clapped his hands “—what can I help you kids with?”
Mike and Max eyed each other, trying to decide who was going to start. Turns out; it was Will.
“We wanted to talk to you about yesterday,” he spoke up timidly. Mike squeezed his hand.
“Ok,” Eddie accepted. “Hit me. What’s up?”
Lucas was the first this time. “Why were you so willing to help Steve?”
When Wayne went to get the door Eddie didn’t think it’d take 20 minutes. And he also didn’t think that going out to check on him would lead him to finding four little kids in his living room. More specifically Steve Harrington’s kids.
He should’ve known it was to be bombarded with questions.
“Why were you so willing to help Steve?”
Well shit.
“Cause I’ve had an undying crush on him since he first came to the high school in his freshman year and I wasn’t going to turn up a chance to help him out and maybe talk to him and then I realized it was actually a lot worse than I thought so I stuck around to make sure he was ok.”
Yeah absolutely not.
“Because he needed help. The guy couldn’t even stand on his own.”
Lucas eyed him but handed it over to Max.
“Why were you so chill about his migraine? I mean you said it yourself: he could barely stand on his own. Most people would’ve left the moment someone else got there if not before.”
Little Red held a strong point.
“Cause I knew he needed help. Simple as that.”
No. Not “simple as that”.
“Did you know him in high school? Back when he was dating Nancy?” Little Wheeler asked.
Now this; this was a conversation he really didn’t want to have. He sighed, maybe a little harsher than intended, and answered “Yes. I knew him in high school and when he was dating your sister.”
At this point Wayne had left to the kitchen. But Eddie knew he was listening in, making sure they didn’t cross any lines.
“So if you knew him in high school, when he was an asshole— don’t kick me he was!— then why were you so nice? Cause most people he talks to from high school seem to hate his guts.”
“Jonathan doesn’t hate his guts!”
“I said “most people”, Will!”
Well golly damn they hold a lot of good points today. Before he got to answering the question there was another knock on the door. Max flinched and moved closer to Lucas.
“I got it,” Wayne said as he made his way over.
When he opened the door Steve Harrington, Robin Buckley, and Jonathan Byers were all there on the porch. Wayne looked back and forth between the two groups before sighing and saying, “Why don’t we all step outside? Trailer ain’t big enough for all of ya.”
So that’s where they all went, outside on the front yard. Wayne sat on the porch steps while Eddie hung back.
“What the hell was the point in this?” Asked Steve, scolding the kids.
“We just wanted to ask him some questions!” defended Lucas. Will hung back by Jonathan but nodded his head.
“Questions.” Steve deadpanned.
Max huffed and Steve’s glare turned on her. She crossed her arms and looked away, seeming to close in on herself.
Steve sighed and pinched his nose, turning around and grunting before turning back around. “Ok, here’s the game plan.” he clapped his hands. “You four—“ he pointed at each of the kids “— are going to apologize to Mr. Munson and Eddie.”
The kids all started to grumble and protest.
“AND THEN—“ he continued loudly over them, making them shut up “—you are going to all go home to your own houses. We will talk about this tomorrow when I don’t want to fucking strangle you.”
“I can’t.” Max huffed.
“Cant what?” Steve asked.
“Go home. Especially not with you. I told Billy I’d be at the Byers’ and he’s expecting me to be there in the next half hour.”
Steve’s entire face dropped and he rubbed a hand over his face. “Max.”
She folded her arms and looked down. Steve sighed and placed his hands on his hips. “Ok, it’s fine. Change of plans; we’re all going to the Byers’! You four go apologize now and then load your bikes and board into my car as best you can.”
Eddie stood through their half-assed apologies while Steve stood back conversing with Jonathan. When the kids made their move to get their bikes and skateboard Eddie moved over to stand next to Steve. While the kids loitered around for a moment. Steve turned on him when he noticed his approach.
“What were they bothering you about that was so important Max lied to Billy?”
Eddie smirked and answered “oh you know; questions.”
Steve groaned.
They stood in silence while Steve watched Jonathan quietly scold Mike and Max for something.
“You can use my van.”
“What?”
“My van. To bring their bikes? There’s no way in hell they’re all fitting into your’s or Byers’s car.”
Steve watched as Mike and Lucas argued about the bikes while Max and Will talked behind them. He sighed and scrubbed a hand down his face in agitation. Steve placed his hands on his hips again and hit the inside of his cheek. Eddie watched him closely, finally noticing the ruffled hair and the plain gray t-shirt and way to short basketball shorts.
“Did you come over here straight from bed?” he asked.
Steve looked at him, squinting in the sun. “Yeah? What of it?”
“Dude it’s like 2pm.”
“Migraines knock me out.” he shrugged.
Another moment of silence went by until Steve sighed. “If you really don’t mind, letting us use your van would be great.”
Eddie watched Mike’s bike fall out for the fourth time and nodded. Just in time for Mike and Max to both call out in a whiny tone “STEEEEVEEEE!!”
Steve huffed and whined back “WHAAAAAT?” Eddie snickered.
“The bikes aren’t going to fit!” Lucas yelled, throwing his bike on the yard.
“Yeah I realized that. Thankfully, Eddie’s very nice and has offered to let us use his van.”
Mike and Lucas’ eyes lit up. “Can we—“
“Absolutely not.” Steve shut them down. “You four are going to ride with Jonathan and Robin back to the Byers’ while I run around with Eddie to drop off your bikes.”
Eddie nodded, not knowing what else to do.
Mike huffed.
“Steve,” Max called out quietly. “You’re not dropping mine off, right?”
Steve’s face softened and he smiled at her exasperatedly. “No, Max, you can toss your board in Jon’s trunk.”
She nodded and looked hesitant to walk away. The boys had already gotten in the car, and with one look around Max gave in and quickly hugged Steve. He patted her back and ruffled her hair and then she ran off to the car.
With final goodbyes and a promise to Robin to just call in sick next time, Steve and Eddie were left alone, Wayne going inside to take a nap.
Steve clapped Eddie on the shoulder. “Looks like it’s just me and you now, Munson.”
Oh boy.
Guess I am gonna need that part three 😭😭
I’ll take tags for part 3 if you guys want :)

Note
this one just popped out of my head for the requests.
what about established steddie and eddie finding out that will, mike, and max all have those tiny, cute crushes on steve while steve has absolutely no idea?
Ah this one was refreshing. Just a cute, fun thing to get me back into the swing of things after my little trip to DC! Hope you love the little thing I added with Max and El, it's not often I would choose to go that route, but it just seemed fitting here. - Mickala ❤️
---------------------------------------------------------
“See you tonight?” Eddie leaned down into the car window to kiss Steve goodbye again.
“Yeah, want me to pick you up?” Steve smirked as he leaned in for a fourth (fifth?) kiss since he announced he had to leave for his shift.
“Only if you promise not to bring me back tonight.”
Steve laughed, his excitement at the idea of Eddie spending the night with him winning over the more logical side of his brain.
“I promise.”
“Good,” Eddie said as he pulled away from the car.
“Love you,” Steve yelled through the window as he backed out of the yard.
“Love you, too!” Eddie yelled back, blowing a kiss and dramatically falling to his knees. He clutched his chest as he pretended to cry. “I don’t know how I’ll go on with my love off to war!”
Steve kept driving, but Eddie knew he was laughing.
That’s why he did what he did: to keep Steve laughing.
He got up when he could no longer see Steve’s car, brushing off his jeans as his smile started to slowly fade.
He looked up to see Max standing on her porch, watching him.
“Hey Maximus! You bored?”
Her eyes got wide when she realized he caught her watching, but she didn’t look away or run inside.
He walked across the road to her trailer with a smile. He hadn’t seen her in a few days, mostly spending time with Steve at his house lately.
“Max? I asked if you were bored.”
Max was blushing, but he knew better than to think it was because of him.
What could Max possibly be blushing about?
“Nope. Just waiting for Mrs. Byers to drop El off so we can have a sleepover.”
“Uh huh. And that’s why you were watching me and Steve?”
“I wasn’t watching you and Steve.”
He gave her a look that said he knew she was lying, but Joyce pulled in right as he opened his mouth to speak.
Max ran off the porch and to the car, and Eddie didn’t really need to stick around, so he went to say a quick hi to El before heading back to his home.
“Eddie!” El yelled as she sprinted up to meet him halfway.
El and Eddie got pretty close while he was in the hospital, while Max was still in a coma and no one understood what it did to El.
When Mike and El broke up shortly after, El explained to him that sometimes she loved Max the way she thought she’d loved Mike. Eddie, of course, told her about how he loved a man (he couldn’t out Steve, but a part of him thought maybe El caught onto it quickly), and how it was okay to feel how she felt about anyone.
She hugged him and then looked at Max.
Max was still bright red, like she’d been caught by El the same way Eddie had caught her.
“Was Steve here?” El asked him with an unreadable look.
“He was at my house, but not here. Why?”
El looked over at Max again, who was rolling her eyes and crossing her arms.
“Because Max gets funny when Steve is around. Dustin said it is because she likes him.”
Eddie snorted, but Max wasn’t amused. Joyce was shaking her head at them all and waving goodbye, probably trying to get out before it turned into an argument or a conversation with El that she didn’t have time for.
“I don’t like him,” Max huffed.
“You think he is cute,” El suggested instead.
“I-”
“It’s fine, Red. He is cute. You think I don’t know that?”
Max was turning away and mumbling under her breath, clearly trying to be done with this conversation.
“What?” El yelled, trying to catch up as she walked back up to her porch.
“I said, at least I’m not like Will who told Mike that if he was Steve’s age, he would have pined over him instead of Mike and Mike agreed.”
Eddie let out such a loud laugh, it made Max stop in her tracks and turn.
“Why are you laughing?”
“It’s hilarious,” Eddie got out between laughs, breathing in large gasps of air. “If he knew how many of you kids had crushes on him, he would be distraught. He would need to hide for months before he could show his face again.”
“But it is just a crush. I have had many crushes. Only one of them turned into love. You said it is okay to feel love for anyone. Is it not okay to have crushes on anyone?”
Eddie sobered quickly. El had a way of saying things that really made him pause and think before he spoke, which wasn’t something he did often.
“No, El, that isn’t why I’m laughing or why Steve would be, um, upset? I guess not, upset, just kind of shocked. I guess anytime you hear that someone finds you attractive, and has a crush on you, you feel a little weird about it.”
“Why is it weird?”
Bless El. Truly, Eddie was not ready for this. Steve would handle this so much better. Well, maybe not this specific topic, but most difficult conversations with the kids.
“It’s weird because Steve is like our babysitter, right? So the fact that half of us have a crush on him would make him feel like he can’t be around us until the crush fades or whatever,” Max explained patiently, always so patient with El where she would snap at anyone else.
“But it is okay for me to have a crush on you?” El asked Max, who was somehow looking even more red.
Really earning the nickname right now, actually.
“Yeah, it’s. It’s good.”
“It is?” El asked.
Eddie started to back away slowly, torn between wanting to see what happened and needing to not intrude on this moment.
“You really have a crush on me? You’re not using it as an example to understand or something?” Max asked hesitantly.
“Yes, I do. I told Eddie about it months ago if you do not believe me. But friends do not lie,” El said nervously, suddenly seeming to realize what was happening.
“El.” Max was smiling now. Eddie couldn’t look away even though he was barely in her yard anymore. “I like you. A lot. Like a crush, but more than that. Is that okay?”
“Oh.” El suddenly turned to Eddie. “If Max has a crush on me too, does that mean it is not a crush anymore?”
“I think that means you two can go on a date,” Eddie said as he finally turned back to his house.
He looked back when he reached his front door and saw Max and El hugging, a smile spreading across his face.
—--------------------------------
When Max and El were caught holding hands at movie night, Steve told everyone to stop teasing them or they’d get sent home.
“It is okay, Steve. And we talked about Max’s crush on you and it will not hurt my feelings that she still has a little one,” El patted his shoulder before turning her attention back to the movie.
Everyone else was staring at Steve though, mouths open.
Steve looked…well, he didn’t look like he was taking this news well.
Eddie patted his cheek and smiled softly at him.
“It’s alright, love. Mike and Will have crushes on you, too, and you didn’t even realize! Nothing has to be different.”
Oh. Oops. He shouldn’t have said that.
Steve’s eyes widened further as Mike and Will started yelling from their spot on the armchair.
“Hey, who told you that?”
“We do not!”
Steve stood up from the couch and walked out of the room, in the direction of the stairs, probably to hide in his bedroom and attempt to process this.
Eddie quickly apologized to Mike and Will before running after Steve, not wanting him to sit with anything alone.
When he got into Steve’s bedroom, he was laying flat out on his bed, starfished across it on his back, staring at the ceiling.
Eddie sat in the available space at his side, placing a hand on his thigh and smiling down at him.
“Is this really surprising for you?”
“Why wouldn’t it be?”
“I mean, everyone always had crushes on you in school. You have to be used to it by now.”
“That was different.”
“I guess, but it’s still gotta be a little flattering.”
“I’m practically their mother! How is that flattering?”
Eddie couldn’t help it, he had to laugh.
“Sweetheart, they’re teenagers. You’re hot. You’re shirtless around them pretty often. You’re older, but in a ‘my friend’s older brother way’ not a ‘you could be my dad’ way. I’m pretty sure the only reason Dustin doesn’t have a crush on you is because he actually does consider you his dad.”
“Ew.”
Eddie moved so he was straddling Steve’s hips, Steve’s hands automatically coming to rest on his sides.
“Listen. I know it’s maybe a little weird. But it’s harmless. Mike and Will are in love and probably barely ever even think about their crush on you. And Max has El now, so her crush will fade soon enough. My crush is what you should be worried about.”
“Oh?” Steve was smirking up at him.
“Mhm. It’s getting out of hand. I might actually never get over it.”
“It’s a good thing I won’t get over the crush I have on you, then.”
Eddie leaned down to kiss him slowly, lips moving against his with practiced ease.
“So you gonna be able to look at them or should I say you went to bed?”
“Nah, I’ll go back out. But we aren’t having any more pool parties until I’m sure they’re over it. My chest is for your eyes only for the next year as far as I’m concerned.”
“You won’t hear any complaints from me,” Eddie said as he leaned down to place a kiss on Steve's chest. “But you may hear some from them.”
He did hear complaints from them.
But by next summer, Mike and Will barely had eyes for anyone other than each other, and Max had realized that she was actually only into Steve because she thought that’s what she should like and got over the crush completely.
Eddie turned to him while they sat shirtless by the pool and smiled.
“You miss being everyone’s crush?”
“As long as I’m yours, I don’t need anyone else.”
“Sap.”
“You’re the one with the crush on me,” Steve smirked at him as he closed his eyes and sunbathed next to the crush of his life.
