You have lost track of how many days, months, or even years have passed since your arrival in Outpost 3, and gods, you’d give it all right away to be back in one of the holding cells the government had put you in around the time the bombs rained down over King’s Landing.
Even though you received the status as a purple upon your arrival, therefore placing you to the upper-class elites specifically selected for survival, you couldn’t be worse off. At least there you’ve been allowed to do your own thing – as far as the confines allowed you to.
The nutritional cubes they serve you are rationed, with Ms. Misery announcing they’ll have to ration them even further in the next days, and on top of being hungry and bored, you haven’t had a good fuck in quite the while.

You’ve been grateful that Laenor pounced on him to be interviewed first, wanting to see if he'd be worthy enough to be relocated to the so-called sanctuary, because you certainly would have jumped Targaryens’ bones right then and there.

Some time has passed in which you’ve barely seen him around, only hearing of him through the stories of the other residents that have been interviewed by him; now it’s your turn to warm the large chair standing in front of the imposing Mahogany desk.
It’s the door behind you sliding open that lets your heart drop into the pit of your stomach, and you fidget with your fingers to stop yourself from turning around. You don’t want to be caught staring in the first few seconds already.
You hear your name fall past his lips so smoothly it sends a shiver down your spine. You give in to the temptation and watch him step inside with an air of mellow gratification, prowling around the desk until he eventually sits down in the empty seat across from you.
“There’s no need to be nervous,” he purrs, a glint of mischief dancing in his eye.
There comes no reply from you, instead you continue to fumble with your fingers, looking at what you assume to be your file splayed out on the desk in front of him.
It’s the dismissive hum that rumbles in his chest that finally piques your interest, and when your gaze settles on him again, you spot him touch his chin thoughtfully as his eye skimps over the pages, seeming as if he’s reading it for the first time.
The red gloves he wears stand in stark contrast to the otherwise colorless rest of his outfit, your gaze drawn to them like a moth to a flame. He has worn them upon his arrival already; the smooth leather shining in the dim light of the candles makes your mind wander to more indecent things.
He tilts his head up again to meet your gaze, his smooth and calming voice ringing out. “Your genetic profile would appear to be favorable, so you can say that this interview is solely conducted as a… precaution.” Though it’s meant to be reassuring, the deliberate pause he makes doesn’t seem convincing.
His words make you frown. “What for?” you ask, and you curse yourself for how blunt and bold your voice sounds. “Aren’t you in need of relocating the last few people that pass on good genes, now that this is the last outpost standing?”
The genuine laugh he offers you prompts you to lean back in your seat, juxtaposing the way he leans forwards in his. Something in the arrogance that radiates off of him, and the smug smirk he has on his lips, feeds your irritation.
“Doesn’t seem like you can afford to be picky,” you snap back at him.
He licks his lips, and although it’s not longer than a second, your mind immediately drifts off to think about how it would feel between your legs, how he would feel between them. You try to be subtle as you shift in your seat, barely moving enough to soothe the aching that blooms at the apex of them.
“We’re making the selections as carefully as possible,” he counters. The paper of your file is pinched between his index and thumb, rubbing it between the pads of his fingers. “We need to ensure the survival of humanity, and I’m sure you understand that we have to look for a certain level of ambition in the people we choose.”
Even though his explanation is vague, and doesn’t make much sense to you, it is strangely appealing. The word ambition is such a broad term that could mean anything from career-minded to cutthroat, yet you still have to figure out exactly what he means.
The tension grows thicker and thicker with each passing second of silence, and you feel a warm sensation spreading inside of you from his intense gaze – which is perhaps also due to the hint of desire that gleams in his eye as he regards you.
You try your best to ignore the way your heart races, wanting to diminish the warmth inside of you. But to no avail.
When he rises from his seat, your heart drops into your stomach again, and your eyes grow wide with curiosity and intrigue.
It’s a brief flicker of your eyes down his body that has you squeezing your thighs together, far too distracted by how tall he is than to notice the smug smirk that tugs at the corners of his lips.
“Would you say that you’ve… settled here?” he asks, his voice carrying a hint of something you find difficult to decipher.
He slowly stalks around the desk, the tips of his leather-clad fingers smoothly gliding over the dark wood. His eye lingers on your face, taking you in and assessing your reaction. His expression holds the same edge of darkness his voice does, though he isn’t hiding it as effectively as he thinks he is this time.
Your eyes never leave his frame when he comes to stand next to you, leaning back against the desk. He’s gripping the edge of it, and even in the dim light of the candles, you notice that it’s rather tightly, almost as if he’s suppressing the urge to touch you.
“Well, I suppose I’ve managed to adjust,” you reply.
For a brief moment, neither of you says anything. He just stares at you with this cold precision – until you catch his eye flitting lower, trailing over your form.
The purple gown you wear isn’t revealing at all, not that Ms. Misery would allow you to wear anything of that sort anyways. The neckline is squared with raised yet off-the-shoulder structured shoulders that leave little to the imagination – but only if you’ve been touch deprived for long enough.
And, judging by the way his jaw clenches as his eye meets yours again, you can tell it’s also been a while for him.
The thought of it makes your blood run hot, the warmth now spreading to your cheeks. Your gaze falls to your lap, watching your fingers fumble with each other while you feel his bore into your frame.
There’s a hum rumbling in his chest once again, but this time it sounds more like a purr, as if he finds satisfaction in your nervousness. “Are you normally this flustered in front of men… or is it just me?”
A sudden rush of excitement and embarrassment floods your veins as your mind processes his words; your head snaps back up to look at him, and you’re greeted by a teasing grin.
“I’m not flustered,” you reply, your voice only wavering slightly, yet you know that it’s clear to him that you’re not being very honest. He’s well aware of the effect he’s having on you.

As if he’s searching for something within yours, his eye narrows, and your mind races with the possibility of what such a look might signify.

WIBTA if I left a bad review on a book I haven’t purchased?

I’m an audiobook narrator professionally. I do most of my work via independent contracting with a production company. NOTE: they are NOT a publishing house. They do not provide editors/betas/etc for the text, they focus on turning (usually self published) books into audiobooks and marketing those audiobooks.
Most of the books I record with them are great, and I have a lot of fun reading good books! But…some of the books I’ve read for them have been. REALLY. REALLY. bad. Like I personally would have stopped reading within the first few pages bad if it wasn’t literally my job to read the words out loud.
I’m currently reading a book for them that makes me want to tear my hair out. The writing is boring, badly paced, and repetitive. None of the characters are likeable, and the relationships are shallow, the combat is boring, there are no stakes, etc etc. To give you an idea, the main character is the type of kid who on the playground would insist he had a mega super invincibility shield so you couldn’t touch him, but he also had a mega super invincibility shield breaking sword if you decided you wanted a shield too. And the narrative REWARDS HIM for acting that way.
I’ve never left a review on any of the books I’ve narrated before, but this one…i am seriously considering writing a review to try and warn people away from this book.
A few things to consider, though:
1: i am not being paid royalty share from the book, i get a flat rate based on the number of hours in the final audiobook. But as far as I know, the author only starts making money from producing this audiobook once the production company makes back the money they paid me for making it.
2: i would review anonymously/under a fake name and only on the book product page, not the product page for the audiobook version.
3: if an audiobook does not sell, then it is most likely I will not be obligated to continue recording the rest of the series (and it IS a series. At least three books are out as of now. I am currently slated to record them all, provided the audiobook sells decently)
4: the book currently has ~250 reviews already, and a 4.7/5 rating (how???? get some fucking standards), so it’s not like I’m leaving a 1 star review on something that only has 6 reviews.
I don’t think that one bad review would tank the whole series, but I do feel like leaving bad reviews on a product I didn’t even buy might be a dick move, especially if the author’s pay for this book relies on it selling well. But on the other hand, his book sucks and people should know that.
I wouldn’t be leaving a “0 stars: this sucks” review, I’d want to make it comprehensive and detailed. But I’d also feel bad about that because I’m sure the author reads his reviews, and even though his book sucks shit, i don’t want to like…make someone lose their passion to write? But ALSO if you’re making people pay $16 for the book and/or $40 for the audiobook, maybe the book should be fucking good? Idk.

SETTING THE STAGE! : The former ramshackle prefect had barely managed to escape—it had been a stunt that had taken months or perhaps longer (time had become hard to keep track of after being locked in the same place for years) to pull off however what mattered now was getting as far away as he physically could. Even if it was the last thing he ended up doing he couldn’t go back to that wretched place.
His breathing was uneven and shallow as his limbs ached with the sudden strain that covered his body with a suffocating grip as a consequence of the physical activity he had just forced his body to go through after years of not being able to move farther than what his prison allowed him.
His pace faltered for a minute as he tripped over a thick root of one of the trees that he had failed to properly acknowledge and dodge in his desperate sprint. With his heartbeat on the back of his throat, he quickly scurried back to his feet with paranoia dancing on the edge of his vision.
It was impossible to not associate any sound with that guy—and if he successfully managed to get out of this forest that surrounded where he had previously been captured for the sake of a sick twisted way of love he doubted that he would ever be able to go back to the life he previously had.
And as a branch snapped behind him his greatest fears were confirmed as the person whom he had been trying to escape from, his captor, his ‘precious romantic partner’ was standing there with a look of turmoil on their face that the outlander doubts won’t haunt him in his nightmares.
In that moment right before his so-called lover could even speak the former beast tamer had opened his eyes to his old ceiling that was covered in spider webs from ramshackle back when he was still attending Night Raven College—

Riddle wasn’t sure what exactly was going on with the Ramshackle prefect recently—it felt odd seeing them around school with this look of wonder and dare he even say melancholic on his face. He furrowed his eyebrows in deep thought while slowly trying to gather his thoughts together with the most recent events that had happened around here, first there was the conversation he had heard from the first years of his dorms who had tried to whisper in low tones about how odd Yuu had started acting since this morning (something which he had of course reprimanded them on doing harshly and barely held himself back from putting a fitting collar on their necks instead letting them off with a two thousand word essay of why they should not gossip about the prefect anyone)
Yuu and him had managed to find a routine he adored liked well enough to not do much changes even if it caused him to stay up late at night catching up to his work. After class they would meet up and he would teach the ramshackle resident about Twisted Wonderland’s history and alchemy which the other seemed to have never taken a class off before attending Night Raven College—it had been something he had found very suspicious at first which was why he had been forced to be more aggressive with his approach of finding out why.
Riddle was sure that his words back then were justified, especially now that he knew that his close companion was an outlander. Something that greatly reminded him of one of the many stories surrounding the Queen of Hearts—perhaps this was just proof his help was indeed needed by the magic-less student who was like a lost chick in a pack of wild animals. As a Housewarden the minimum he could do for the one that helped him through his overblot and the shameful aftermath he had to experience was guiding him through this world and making sure he was well educated on the dangers this realm had.
And sure he did have to take care of some of the more pesky students who seemed intent on making his new companion—a honorary Heartslabyul student life more miserable than he already had it, but he would do that for any of his other dorm members or friends so there was nothing to worry about (when he told Trey about his actions regarding the prefect he had noticed the pause in the clover’s action before everything had gone back to normal while Trey seemed to encourage to pursue his feelings, something that he won’t admit to not had understood back then)
(He verbally questioned the odd look he had received by Cater but had been laughed off by the former who insisted he was reminded that he had school work to soon complete)
In the end it hadn’t been more than two days before he had ultimately gotten fed up with the pointed avoidance of him out of everyone else. Riddle wouldn’t admit to anyone how much space it had taken in his mind, then as if it hadn’t been enough strain the last incident happened where he had overhead Grim complain about the prefect not wanting to leave ramshackle for anything except to meet the headmaster about unknown matters—to be more precise leaving the school.
And hadn’t that just made the hollow feeling in his heart grow so rapidly he wouldn’t have been surprised if the anguish was enough to suffocate him.
So it shouldn’t come to a surprise to anyone that he had been knocking on ramshackle’s dorm door one step away from actually knocking it down due to the force he was using each time his hand came in contact with the already fragile door. A hurried hand opened the door and he had been left staring at the horrified eye’s of Yuu who was looking at him like he didn’t know him.
It was a weird experience as in one second Riddle was staring at the horrified face of the prefect and in the next second he had been forcefully pushed away from the entrance and gotten the door shut in his face.
He had tried demanding an answer by raising his voice through the door demanding an answer to this attitude. When he realized it would get him nowhere was after hours of trying to coax Yuu to let him in—but just because he had decided to go back to Heartslabyul didn’t mean he was anywhere near done he was determined to get to the bottom of this abnormal behavior even if it was the last thing he would do. The frustration wasn’t something that could easily be resolved though, frustration at this odd behavior, frustration at himself for not being able to solve this faster, and frustration at Yuu himself for deciding to take such an immature response to whatever was happening.
And even thinking of leaving him just like that? Like he was a replaceable toy he could throw away after he was of no use anymore, did he not meet the prefect standard? Did his teaching methods perhaps become too difficult or inefficient for him? If so he would change. Whether it was his temper, his academic achievement or his personality—he wouldn’t mind changing just for him. As long as Yuu didn’t leave him in the dust he was willing to take more drastic measures to not have the floor crumble under his feet.
But first he would have to form a better position for himself, and now that would only be done if he managed to speak to Yuu face to face—and while he didn’t like to admit the only way to currently do so was through Ace and Deuce. Those who he has still yet to completely warm up and probably never will with how distracting and downright clingy they would be towards Yuu, it’s not that he had anything against them specifically, of course not! But they just weren’t a good influence towards Yuu. Since the first day incident and all the other messes they have managed to drag the prefect into, was it a crime to be worried for his friend?
Surely not.
Which was why he had made sure to give them a king lasting task outside of the dorms while sending Cater to persuade Yuu into a more secluded space where he and his dorm leader could talk to in private without disruptive activities.
Riddle would be lying if he didn’t notice the conflicting emotions that crossed the diamond’s face didn’t make him raise an eyebrow at his odd behavior but couldn’t allow himself to think much of it as he had more urgent matters at hand and if some more pressure needed to be put in his subjects to make him more efficient he will do so.
And what better way to do so than the spot at the library in which they had managed to study for days for different assessments—it was a place he considered to hold sentimental value for both of them. Riddle had done just what was needed to make this encounter near perfect, and sure he did resort to a method that was not as gentleman as he would have liked—and he of course hadn’t forgotten to in estimate ways that could make his and the perfect’s meeting more smoothly, and he had ended up in the potion section of the library.
This was of course more of a precaution than anything! It was just a more psychological potion that could help soothe someone’s nerve in a very efficient way(something that he had planned on giving Yuu as soon as he saw him)
“Ah, you have finally arrived! I’ve noticed a drastic change in your behavior towards me since last week—huh? What’s with the expression on your face? Are you upset I didn’t go get you myself? Don’t worry I’ll make it up to you soon, so why don’t you take a seat first?”

Silver wasn’t as distracted as others were led to believe, most of his inconveniences came due to his particular condition but even then he could find a way to work around it (sometimes) but that of course didn’t translate to him being sloppy when awake. He had learned from the best and he would be damned if he let it go to waste—which was why even before his father had pointed out the unusual behavior of Yuu to him, Silver had already realized by day two that something was amiss.
Not too long after the failure that was this year's entrance ceremony he had the fortune of meeting the ramshackle prefect while trying to find some food resources to feed the horses of the club and had the pleasure of meeting Yuu.
It was a short but pleasant meeting so it wasn’t a surprise when next time they both saw each other they had engaged in a larger conversation than before and instantly hit it off. It wasn’t something he was trying very hard to find if anything he was uncharacteristically giddy over this new friendship and how at ease and natural it felt to just be with the prefect. Which was probably why it didn’t take two looks from his father for him to spill about the new freshman that had gotten his attention—what he hadn't expected was for the fae to have a mischievous smile on his face while muttering something about ‘growing up too fast’.
But Silver had always been a quick person of action so with some pushes to the right direction it hadn’t taken him long to put one and two together about why the urge to become glued to the prefect’s side had become impossible to ignore—so the next day with the help of his father and a grumbling Sebek he had managed to ask Yuu out on a date. It hadn’t been the last time it would occur but the day he had said yes was probably one Silver would remember for a long time.
But nothing is ever that easy is it? It felt maddening every time he had to walk to the nurse office to visit the person who he was considering spending the rest of his life with because Yuu had managed to somehow land himself in the middle of an overblot. During Leona’s overblot was the only time where he had managed to be of use by annihilating any Savanaclaw student that had been involved with this pathetic plan to win against his liege—that wasn’t his only motivation of course. But it just added to the anger that seemed to bubble in his chest.
Then he had heard of the incident with Azul and the twins and it just seemed to make everything worse. It was a surprise to hear the reason why Yuu had made the deal in the first place was because of those people that he hanged around made more sense all of the sudden. Of course he wouldn’t be the one doing such reckless actions; it was obviously done by the less than ideal people that surrounded him—Silver wouldn’t be able to have a clear conscience if he didn’t help out his dear partner when dealing with less than ideal people.
Originally he had intended to go to Lilia for advice but due to some matters with his own club he had an eye opening run in with his liege who seemed quite perspective towards Silver’s latest issues. Truly he couldn’t and shouldn’t have dared to spill more about the issues that plagued his mind regarding the prefect but he knew if there was another person who he could trust that also matched his father’s wisdom was the young master.
So spill his guts he did, and unlike what he had expected for the reaction to be he instead got an advice that would probably shape the way he would treat his own romantic relationships for years to come.
“One knows how deceitful matters of hearts can be, this is way the way towards your desired achievements should probably hold a more firm approach—young inexperienced children of man cannot always distinguish between what’s beneficial and harmful.”
A more hands on approach would be needed to deal with the more harmful thorns of the bunch, a necessary sacrifice which he would gladly dispose of if it leaned the healthiness and happiness of his dear. Which was why he had started to perhaps share his concerns about the Heartslabyul freshman duo who seemed to be breaking more severe rules per day with Riddle who while trying to be more lenient with his subjects would not hesitate to put those he deemed out of place back to where they belong. Never let it be known that a ten thousand word essay per day didn’t keep s perdon busy. Right after that he had the misfortune of dealing with the other pest but the solution quite literally came to him in the best time possible as he realized how easily the animal could be bribed to do things with a can of tunas that required his presence far away from ramshackle and it’s other human resident.
It didn’t have the most positive reaction from the prefect once he realized that the friends he had been hanging out with (and depending on—) had started to be seen less and less till Yuu couldn’t see them around at all. That’s when Silver stepped in and directed his boyfriend to a better solution for his problem, and which better way to make him forget about those pests than dragging him to Diasomnia to spend more time with Silver himself?
It had been a rough start but eventually the prefect had adapted and even formed connections in said dorm—better connections than the ones he used to have.
Everything was going well, at least to Silver. His father had approved of Yuu and while Sebek had made a show of grumbling and butting heads with the ramshackle prefect it was obvious at least to him there wasn’t a real issue between the two, no matter how much the first year’s comment about humans was spit out. And of course his liege had approved since the first moment he had reached out for help when dealing with this particular situation.
Then Yuu had drastically changed his behavior and instead of being attached to the hip together as much as possible he had started actively avoiding Silver and any other resident of Diasomnia—it had baffled him even more when he saw him somehow find the time to talk with the two guys who he had thought were not a problem any more towards his partner’s safety. What in the great seven’s name was going on? It was even harder to pin the prefect down for an explanation himself because as soon as they got in a range to each other Yuu would find a way to slip away as if he knew what action Silver would take next, like an infinite chase of cat and mouse where the prefect was the mouse and he was the cat.
As if this couldn’t get any worse he had also found the prefect to not be attending any of his classes and on top of it all also not sleeping in his dorm. Instead it seemed that he had started sleeping in Heartslabyul, yet all of this was done without saying a word to Silver who was his boyfriend—the person who should have been made aware of this from the start!
It also seemed like everyone was determined to get in his way when trying to rightfully contact his partner. The final straw had been when in the third day of avoiding him Yuu had sent him a text message (which he had been surprised to see as for the last days he had been blocked) but hete was no reason to be happy as the message read, “We are done.” That was all there was, no explanation nor elaboration and it seemed that his unblocked status had been temporary because when he tried to initiate another desperate conversation to the surprise of nobody he had found himself blocked again.
He wasn’t proud to say he had tried everything under the sun to get to talk with Yuu—it wasn’t supposed to escalate to this point. This was the worst possible outcome and the puffy eyes that many of his doormates made a show of not pointing out, perhaps it was for the best to not talk about the mess his hair had become with the lack of care from the human and his temper had increased tenfold when dealing with the other students.
So perhaps he should be grateful when his father had finally put his foot down when he saw him moping around while staring at his phone with a dull look in his eyes.
Enough so that the fae had grabbed matters into his own hands and practically dragged his son’s boyfriend (technically it wasn’t an ex just yet until Silver confirmed so—this was what many would call ‘a bump’ on the road to a better relationship) and locked him in a room until his son came back. It had been a necessary measure, nobody liked stubborn people who refused to speak their problem with their partner—Lilia would make sure that this problem would be resolved even if he had to take some rough measures. And what better way to do so than to use more persuasive techniques to get the reason as to why Yuu had decided to avoid his son so abruptly to the point he started missing class and even begged Crowley to let him leave the school rather than letting him go home.
Sometimes it was necessary to make some hard choices and this was one of them—Lilia wasn’t sure how Silver would take this as he had seen how enamored he was with the boy. But surely he would understand the reason he had used some old methods to get the prefect to speak right?
He had expected many things, expecting the unexpected was the key to win in some situations—but time travel? That was a new one, especially coming from the magicless student. Lilia supposed that it made more sense than a change of heart about the relationship out of nowhere, especially knowing the type of soft heart Yuu wore on his sleeve.
Not the weirdest thing that has happened but probably in the top ten—instead of pondering too much into it he let himself think about how to deliver the news to Silver (he ignored the previous begging from the prefect who had been imploring him to not let his own son know—as if!)
“Time travel? Yuu—why didn’t you tell me? Were you scared I wouldn’t believe you? Who put such ridiculous ideas in your head? I’ll make sure they won’t have a tongue once I’m done with them, but don’t worry I’m here now and won’t let anything happen to you.”

It had been a surreal day—so much that Ruggie probably looked like a dead man with the glossy eye looks in his eyes that made his pupil look more dead than if he had actually encountered his demise. But after what the rumor that seemed to have more through that they originally assumed after seeing the state of mind he seemed to be in.

But he was the only one who he considered to be the most deserving to be by Yuu’s side—he had made sure everything was adequate from the food he ate to the words he used to communicate was dictated by things that he had seen Yuu being inclined to like.
So how did it come to this? (To the point that even Jack found him pitiful and had made an even worse attempt at comfort by leaving a cactus outside his dorm door) Where had he gone wrong? Did somebody force Yuu to do this? What has he done that made Yuu look at him with such a seething look? He felt like one of those moping housewives in the telenovelas his grandma used to watch after their husband had left in an attempt to ‘protect’ them. He stilled for a minute while his ears twitched as he quickly bolted out of the bed having had one if not the most genius realization in a while.
That was it! There had to be some sort of misunderstanding between the two of the for him to resort to publicly humiliating for something that he wasn’t sure about—Ruggie was determined to ignore the long list of reasons why his boyfriend (not ex, he would never let his partner escape his grasp—how else was he supposed to make sure Yuu didn’t get in trouble again?) had broken up with him which Yuu had also made sure to loudly announce in the courtyard.
On his way to Ramshackle he had bumped into his housewarden but due to the desperation that was clouding his usual judgment, so much to the point he didn’t think twice about ignoring the call for his name as if it was background noise.
But something that he hadn’t taken into consideration was Yuu not being in ramshackle yet, he had almost forgotten that his partner usually preferred staying scooped up in the library at this hour—his plan had gotten some holes in it due to the latest developments but he could grow around it.
He had to.
But it seemed like his boyfriend was determined to play harder to get after the latest verbal argument they had—but then again it was normal for couples to have an argument every now and then right? Ruggie had even read somewhere that it could strengthen the bond between two people! Even if said argument included one of them running away from the other who was desperately trying to catch up to him, enough so that Yuu threw himself out of the window to get away from him. It was something he was not used to, him? Being outrun? He had a sharp eye and even a keener sense of where to turn and when to turn to get to his destination as fast as possible, something that he hasn’t seen being displayed as a skill from Yuu.
But it was more than that, there was something else happening which he couldn’t put his finger on. Because it was almost as if Yuu knew his moves better than he himself knew them, something that just didn’t make sense as he had not been observed that often by his boyfriend for him to be able to analyze and break down any pattern in his behavior. But then again even Ruggie could admit that being discreet was not his boyfriend’s greatest strength, a belief that was preserved after hearing the ‘private’ conversation that Yuu and Grim were having in the middle of the library (while it was true nobody was supposed to be in the library at this time by order of the headmaster himself it still didn’t mean people didn’t sneak in for one reason to the other—yet Yuu was being so careless by outing this ‘time travel’ issue without thinking about the consequences if anybody were to hear then talking! This just proved his point of his boyfriend needing him to survive)
Yet this also explained more than he would admit, of course he didn’t believe one second that time travel was what really had been at play as only a noteworthy mage who could be categorized to be one if not the strongest of the world could achieve control over such a volatile element like time and space—while Yuu was magicless. There were too many details being excluded for him to even remotely believe it. But what if Yuu truly believed that was the case? Maybe it had been an overactive nightmare or an illusion casted on him as cruel prank (if that was the case then he would make sure the Night Raven College’s number of students would be down one or maybe more) either way the matter was that something or somebody had infested his boyfriend’s mind and made him become irrational and break up with Ruggie.
So the reason why his hand had been forced to forcefully take Grim right under Yuu’s nose was to use a necessary bait, a needed sacrifice if he was being more specific (one that he wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice if needed) he needed to find a way to bring those dumb ideas that somebody had implanted on his boyfriend about time travel out of his brain. Even if he had to use a spell or a less than legal potion to achieve the desired results. He would do anything to get back how things were before, he was now just keeping his word on never leaving Yuu alone.

On The Hunt: Then Two Steps Behind
Summary- 4.7 Alpha Steve x Little One. Steve and Bucky are finding no leads in their tracking, but Fury has a possible lead. T'Challa makes use of the Reader's Little Wolf tracking skills to help locate some of their kidnapped Panthers in Ulysses' camp.
Warnings- violence, mentions of weapons, and shifters being trafficked.

Chapter Two / Masterlist
Steve scanned over the Howling Commando’s gear, giving a nod of approval. “I don’t see anything we need to switch out, send a message to Stark that we are fine.” Steve told the beta who gave a nod to confirm and turned away to do the task given. Steve was meticulous in checking their gear, knowing that such a thing could be life or death for the team.
Following the maze of hallways, he soon found Bucky who was hovering over a table, his hands in fists as he pressed down against the wood that was creaking under his weight. Fury eyed Bucky from the other side.
“If there was something to tell you Barnes, I would give it to you.”
“All of this is nothing?” Bucky snapped, if the White Wolf was at all showing, Steve knew he would be bristling.
“Now I didn’t say that I have nothing, just not from this intel you brought me.” Fury, always cool and collected. He tapped on a screen, projecting a picture. “ My sources say it’s not just wolves Hydra is going for. It’s shifters in general.” Steve approached, glancing over the information the projection showed. “And they are willing to use smugglers to get them.” Another tap shifted to another projection, stats, and a face appeared on the screen.
A face that the Alpha saw made him immediately snarl, Steve baring his teeth at the image. The weathered face with a grim sneer stared back at him. “Ulysses wanted to sell Y/N when they had us. Brock refused but he was willing to pay whatever for her.”
<We should rip his throat out> The Alpha dropped his own suggestion.
Gladly.
Fury nodded as if not surprised by Steve’s information. “I’m not at all surprised he would have bought Y/N. He is a kidnapper and smuggler. He stands to make a profit on an Omega Wolf such as Y/N. They are highly sought after because they are hard to control than a Beta or weak Alpha is, not to mention few and far between.” Fury side-eyed Steve as he said this.
It made Steve’s stomach churn at the thought of someone buying you just to break you. Bucky studied the man as well, trying to place him. “I remember bits and pieces of him while Brock had me. He brought Brock shifters, but so many of them were barely hanging on anymore that we had to…” He stopped talking, dragging in a breath before continuing. “You think we can get what we need from him?”
Fury shrugged. “It’s more than you Alpha’s are finding now. If you want to pursue him, I can get you over there.”
“Where is he?” Steve questioned.
“He is on the edge of Wakanda’s borders right now.”
Steve glanced at Bucky. “Go visit the King?”
“Might as well since what we are doing is proving useless for now. I’m going to pack up.” Bucky was abrupt as he left, leaving Fury frowning at the Sergeants departure.
“Rogers…” He kept his tone low. “I want you to know that Barnes isn’t in a good place right now. I know he is practically your brother but you need to be careful with him in the field, especially with the howling commandos following his orders.”
Steve felt the Alpha bristle at the implication but it was true. Steve wasn’t about to indulge in the struggles Bucky was facing, how the White Wolf has secluded himself away from Barnes, or the nightmares that had him fighting nothing in his room and Steve had to guard him against hurting himself or anyone else in the vicinity, how his anger and fear about the unknown was causing Bucky to either lash out or shut down vacantly. “I'm well aware Nick, trust me. That’s why we are leaving the commandos behind this time, just Bucky and I will be going to Wakanda.”
Fury clenched his jaw but gave a nod, relenting to Steve’s decision.
“Y/N, your wolf will just stand out.” T’Challa stated while you prepared to argue at the injustice of being left behind. “Wolves and Omega’s are not common here. Ulysses will know exactly who you are when he sees you.”
“And you don’t think you won’t stick out like a sore thumb? You are the damn king of Wakanda.” You snapped out, you were feeling irritated at the implication you couldn’t go with the panthers and hurt to be left behind.
T’Challa didn’t let your outburst phase him, well aware that you were dealing with pain from Steve’s abrupt departure from your life. “You are right, I will. Why I’m sending Okoye to strike a deal with Ulysses, offering to see his “stock” to make purchases. You and I will be listening in as backup, should anything go awry.”
Your jaw snapped shut in surprise and the Little Wolf uncurled in your mind. <It’s reasonable… Ulysses looked us over extensively with interest, he isn’t gonna forget us.>
“Right now it’s the best we can do Y/N, but I promise you're not going to be left behind, we need you.”
“Yes, I can be okay with that.” you relented, but a silent thank you passed between you and T’Challa with a look.
Okoye slid from her seat, sighing at the long spear she typically carried. “So I have to blend in with the outsiders?”
T’Challa nodded “Head to toe.” He pointedly looked at her favored weapon and she scoffed.
“This comes with me.” With a twist on the pole, to grow compacted, able to store away should she require it.
“Fine, but you still need to change. From the leader of the Dora to a wealthy trafficker looking to spend.”
She wrinkled her face in disgust at what she was supposed to portray. “That can be done.”
T’Challa laughed at her reaction, turning to you. “Come on, we need to blend in a bit more as well Y/N.”
You scowled at the brickwork of the building you were hovering around. Inside Okoye got her meeting with Ulysses, making the deal as you and T’Challa hovered in the back. The tall man stood next to you, his eyes narrowed at the street beyond, watching carefully. Your hand pressed near your ear, listening to the conversation go down inside.
“And what is it you're interested in?” Ulysses voice grunted, muffled around something in his mouth. You could picture him with a cigar between his fingers, leering at the Pantheress.
Then a tone you expected rolled through the comm’s, Okoye purring in her response. “Specifics? Youngin’ panthers.”
“Oh, what are you planning on doing with a bunch of brats?”
“That is my business Mr.Ulysses, but I can promise you no one will look twice at a young panther here wandering the streets. Good runners.”
There was a cackle in the comms and it went silent, you felt your heart hammer in your chest that maybe Okoye was caught. You made to bolt for the door but T’Challa’s hand grabbed at you, sweeping you into his hold like the two of you were huddling against one another. His sharp feline scent assaulted your senses as he hushed his voice near your ear. “Calm Wolf, his men are scouting the area for threats.”
You turned into T’Challa, hiding against him, letting him shield you from sight. The Little Wolf lowered low, growling softly in your mind. Hush, I can’t hear Ulysses.
<Sorry, I just hate being here and not doing anything.>
I do too.
A booming man’s laugh came through. “You are ruthless, using the kids. Smart though. Sure, I got some inventory you might be interested in. Gonna cost you though.”
“Name your price, I will have it ready tomorrow.”
After a few more exchanges, Okoye hinted that she was leaving. T’Challa tilted his head back towards the street, signaling it was time for you two to leave the back alleyway and retreat with Okoye.
As you both started out for the main street, Ulysses men came back through, stalking down the alley. Luck was not on your side as you tried to duck from being seen, one of them brushed against you, hard enough to make you stumble and the man lifted his nose, eyes blazing with interest.
A fucking tracker, of course, this human would employ shifters. “I know you.” He snarled, whirring on you with interest. His eyes blazed at you as he sniffed the air again. “You were that Alpha’s bitch.”
Vibranium blades you kept hidden up your sleeves slipped down into your palm as you twisted to face the shifter, cursing at the luck you were recognized. You were seconds away from activating the bracelets on your wrist. T’Challa slipped out of sight, the men rounding on you taking no interest in what looked like another homeless person wandering the alley. “I have no Alpha.”
“I can tell, you have that feral look to you, a bitch with no one to control her.” He sneered as he thought he had you cornered. The Little Wolf bristled, readying for the attack of the larger shifter, her snarls starting to build in your chest and escape as you finally revealed your weapons, slicing the tip across the man's face, catching his cheek in a flash, causing him to stumble back in surprise. “You bitch!” He spat while the armor swept across the front of your chest and up around your neck, protecting your throat.
You didn’t give him the time to come at you again, your leg sweeping out to kick at his gut making him double over with his arms wrapped around himself, T’Challa knocked his partner down when the man moved in a rush to help subdue you. He was quickly dropped to the ground while you had your blade pressing against the shifter's neck, pressing the sharp blade in enough to go through layers of skin, your face snarled as it pressed into your attackers. “I don’t need to be controlled.”
The shifter's scent was sour with fear now, the way you had caught him by surprise. Your Little Wolf was ready to rip his throat out, take out the threat. T’Challa caught the man by the nape of the neck and crushed a handful of herbs under his nose; it was luck that the shifter took a deep, heavy inhale, drugging himself. The fumes were pungent as your attacker's eyes rolled and he was out.
“Put the blades away Wolf.” T’Challa rumbled out, leaning down to sort quickly through the men's clothing, making it look like a robbery. “No bloodshed today. They will not remember us and we don't want to alert Ulysses that something is going on.”
You leaned down enough to wipe your blade off and put it away. “What did you give them?”
T’Challa grinned wickedly as he yanked out their wallets, pulling out the cash and ditching the wallets in a nearby dumpster. “We have more than just vibranium in Wakanda. Our land is rich with medicinal plants if you know how to gather them.” You two went back onto the street, weaving among the people bustling. “When they wake, their memory will feel like fever dreams and have a headache that will make them think they went on a bender and got mugged.” The money he took, he slipped the money to another soul on the street who needed it. “They will be so embarrassed that they won’t breathe a word of this to anyone.”
You glanced over your shoulder, making sure no one else was following. “Clever.” You muttered while the two of you blended into the crowd, Okoye soon joined them, ignoring them as if they were no one till several blocks away, having been given the all clear sign and all of you piled into a van tucked away.
“Deal’s in place.” Okoye settled gracefully into a seat while you plopped down, listening to the king and her go over the specifics of when, where, who and how much Ulysses was expecting.
You could feel your Little Wolf getting ready for the hunt.
At any kind of exchange of this magnitude, it feels like it should be late. The night time shadows provide places for the most unsavory to slink through, hiding their intentions till they are ready to pump your system full of poison.
Ulysses set up this exchange at ten o'clock in the morning. The only thing he did like you figured would be to go to a remote location. As the vehicle you were packed into with other panthers let you know, the springs protesting with squeals, you all being jostled in the back. Even T’Challa’s claws were out, digging into the side of the vehicle for stability. Your Little Wolf panted heavily in the muggy heat while you swiped at the sweat creeping down the side of your face.
Okoye was going over the plans, preparing to let you all out well before reaching the destination with the expectation that the group could finish going the last couple miles, with your Little Wolf using her sharp sense of smell to find the compound's location. Ulysses wasn’t an idiot, he would have his own group checking every vehicle, probably with the same skills you possessed. They were ready though, to mask the scent in the truck, Okoye was confident in that.
“Y/N, as fast as you all can travel okay? T’Challa is equipped to listen in when I’m ready for all of you to come in.” The stern general glanced at her king. “You have to let me get at least a hold of the kid he is using and try to hold out long enough to find out where else they are keeping people.” Her eyes roved to everyone in the back of the truck. Some of the fiercest shifters you have ever seen, the Dora Milaje was not a force to challenge. “Do all of you understand the orders?”
A unionized confirmation made you hide a grin, thinking about how your pack mates would be sassing the Alpha right now, but they were as fierce in your opinion as this group. “Y/N?'' Your name came across as having no room for amusement, and you gave a confirming nod to appease Okoye.
“Good! Stop right here.” She thudded against the driver's end wall and the truck came to a screeching halt, jolting you against T’Challa’s firm side. You distinctly heard the rumbling growl come from him in agitation before loosening his claws from the side.
Straightening yourself, you popped out of the back of the truck, listening carefully to the sounds around you. Exotic birds and monkeys screamed overhead, which you were used to by now. Bursts of color rose as whatever flock had roosted overhead. The familiar buzzing of bugs and the chittering of other creatures emitted loud, questioning cries. It wasn't till Okoye climbed out and checked in one last time with everyone before she left that things went back to normal. Still loud, the jungle was much like the forests you missed.
It was when all went quiet did you have to be concerned. Right now, none of you were seen as a threat to the wildlife teaming the area. You hoped that you all could stay that way, it would make your chances of getting to the compound without being caught better.
“Shuri, we are going dark now…” You heard T’Challa informing his sister in whatever device was planted on him. “And you are going to have to quiet down so I can hear Okoye.”
Nakia patted an assuring hand against his arm, leaning up to whisper in his ear. You and your Little Wolf felt a pang at the sight of the couple.
It made you miss Steve, how his presence would have calmed the racing of your heart right now. How he would have checked in with you, his touches would have lingered protectively on you, but it was better. The two of you would have watched each other.
If only he could remember that time as well as you did.
The Little Wolf whined, knowing your distractions could cause you harm. You inhaled sharply, getting to work and pushing your mate from your thoughts.
<Ready when you are.>
A glance at T’Challa sets you in motion, your form quick to shed its human form. Nakia grasped at the clothes of those who shifted and stashed away. The ones who remained were poised on their feet, ready to race alongside.
The Little Wolf gave a shake of fur after the shift, releasing any of the pent up energy left. Her nose lifted, sharp in the air to sort through the assault of information provided. The air was heavy and damp, making everything cling in particles wherever the water was. A blessing for a tracker, the scents of man and shifters wouldn't fade nearly as fast unless it rained.
So far the morning sun was shining bright. And she could smell the scent of fear and adrenaline, coating her tongue with a foul taste.
It was enough to make her spring forward as in a chase, following the trail like it was a string, having unraveled. Everyone followed, well behind to not distract her. Except for T’Challa, the man kept pace with you, feet thudding steadily as you darted through the jungle. The animals who claimed the trees screamed at the suddenness you would burst by, followed by a pack of people and black panthers. But they never silenced, they never feared they were being hunted.
It provided enough cover that when you skirted around the first of Ulysses' men, they never expected the king to leap over you in a silent attack or the other panthers to silence them.
Everything about the panthers was stealth while hunting.
Seconds later you skidded to a stop, the King coming to crouch next to you, his hand resting gently on your back to keep you from continuing. “I see them, they are not hiding very well.”
Ulysses had let some of his guard down here, not bothering to hide the massive camp so deep in the jungle. Judging from how far they traveled, Wakanda’s borders were not far away. A couple days away on foot if that.
How could the vigilant panthers miss such a thing?
“Shuri, note our location.” T’Challa muttered softly. “Do you see anything?” His eyes scanned upwards, searching for how they were hidden. You could faintly hear Shuri’s reply in his ear.
“Nothing brother. I will test it out some more. So don’t let anyone shoot down my drone.”
T’Challa cracked a small grin. “I will do my best.” He went silent and you settled down alongside him, focusing on the camp.
From this vantage, it was all so open. People everywhere doing whatever tasks were assigned to them. The stench was almost overpowering. Fear and remnants of blood, it was saturated into the ground the camp was built on, the Little Wolf kept her ears pinned back in unease. Okoye wasn’t all that far away, an appearance of ease as she talked with Ulysses, the General playing her part well. She never once let it be known she was aware they were close. T’Challa kept watch of her, waiting for her signal.
“Impressive.” Okoye’s eyes roamed around the camp while she strode with Ulysses. “Do you move lots of products through?”
Ulysses was cold as he shrugged. “Enough for you to get what you are looking for, I am sure. Come, I will show you what I have for you.” He gestured his hand forward, Okoye hesitated a moment before flashing him a smile.
“Shouldn’t you lead the way?” She glanced around and your fur stood up along your spine, a soft uneasy whine making its way up your throat. Something was wrong, it felt wrong. “I do not know the layout of your camp.”
“And you never will.” Ulysses reached behind him and pulled out a pistol, aimed right for Oyokes chest. From the truck a shot rang out, a scream of the panther driving echoing sharply. “T’Challa thinks he is smart huh?” His voice raised as his finger started to squeeze the trigger, all happening in seconds. “Sending in one of his prized panthers.” The shot rang off, sending T’Challa breaking from cover along with you and the panthers hunting with you.
Okoye was quicker, the shield Shuri equipped her with bouncing off her forearm she shielded herself and her spear was suddenly in her hand, the metal shooting out to form, knocking Ulysses off balance, the gun slinging away suddenly.
The metal over your bracelets swooped over you as more shots rang out, the camp suddenly in full combat mode. Panthers snarled in retaliation as they attacked their targets, sharp claws piercing and slashing up men’s bodies.
T’Challa raced beyond them, Okoye being blown off her feet as a grenade exploded near her and giving Ulysses the chance to evade towards a truck, swinging himself into it to rev the engine.
The shifters still human stayed in the trees, taking aim with specially made weapons to shoot out anything they could.
“Shuri, get that drone on that truck,” T’Challa yelled as he reached his general, helping her to stand.
“I’m fine.” She pushed him away. “Go now. He is close.” Okoye hissed in pain at T’Challa, but he hesitated, unable to leave her just yet.
You weaved through the fighting, searching for the captured shifters in this camp. The few people that took interest in you, noticing you among the chaos were quickly dealt with as you leaped at them, snapping your jaws at throats and ripping them out.
It was brutal, quick, and efficient.
Your nose raced, the smells being sorted in milliseconds till you found what you were looking for.
Fear, blood, metal, bodies. Panthers always had a scent of the deep jungle tops, misty wet and floral scented. All of it tinged with fear, bitter and sour. Your muzzle wrinkled up at it, jogging to a tent.
“Who is that?” Bucky was quiet next to Steve, on the backside of the camp. Steve picked up Ulysses scent in the city and they followed it to this camp. The two of them prowled all night, picking up information about what was going on.
Ulysses was moving shifters through, trucks going in full of shifters they found and leaving in the same way for some other destination. Bucky and Steve were just in the middle of a plan of how to infiltrate the camp when this woman appeared.
Tall and commanding, she had her driver take her through the front without hesitation. Steve couldn’t believe his eyes as to who he saw.
Okoye, and if she was here, that meant the Dora Milaje and possibly T’Challa himself were here. “A panther, that must mean there are others.” He pulled back from his hiding spot and tried to scent them. Something familiar was in the air, drawn to its wild sweetness, but he didn’t have the chance to sort it out when Bucky hissed in surprise.
“They broke cover from the other side of the camp.”
Steve growled at the suddenness of everything going to hell. Bucky was about to take his chance when he grabbed his brother's arm, pausing him. “Go fast, aim with kill shots Buck, anyone tries using trigger words, don’t give them the chance.”
Bucky snarled as he shrugged his arm. “I’m fine Steve.” His eyes were hidden as he stepped from hiding and Steve felt the Alpha shake himself off, dispelling the unease of letting Bucky into this. They had seen him struggle with his control.
<We will stay close> The Alpha assured as Steve bolted out, searching out both Ulysses and Bucky in a sweep of his eyes.
As much as we can. A boom made the ground shake, Steve had to plant his feet as he found where the next threat was coming from. T’Challa stepped out of the unsettled dust with Okoye wrapped in his arm and a truck was squealing away.
<There!>
Got him. Steve bolted in a run, preparing to let the Alpha take over when a streak caught his eyes, low to the ground the wolf traveled swiftly, and he would know that run anywhere. You were tracking among the attacking panthers and that made the Alpha stall.
<What is the Little Wolf doing here?!> Steve changed course, following after you as you approached the tent all the trucks entering the camp earlier would go to.
He was so far away, Steve yelped a warning as you darted inside, knowing that the tent was loaded with guards all armed with various weapons. Steve skidded inside to see you mid-tackle with one of the mercenaries, your strong jaws around the barrel of his weapon, each snarl had you wrenching your head, scraping your teeth against the metal. Just as fast as he noticed you, Steve assessed where the other threats were located- two on one side, rushing out of their chairs where they were playing cards of some kind and another around the back side of loaded cages, bracing his rifle against the top one to take aim and the one you were currently working on disarming.
With a lift of his foot, Steve shoved his foot against a wall of empty cages, sending them tumbling over the two mercenaries scrambling to their weapons, his hand slipping against his chest and yanking out a vibranium dagger he carried on him, a gift from T’Challa the last time he was here. The blade raced true to its target, landing in the rifleman's skull and killing him instantly.
A glance over his shoulder showed you had dragged the mercenary down, unable to withstand your attack anymore while he covered his face with his arms, a weak shield against you. Steve leaped over the cages to grab another mercenary, a punch to his head knocking his senses out and he slumped into dead weight from Steve’s hand. The last one managed to crawl out of the tented area, taking his chances among the panthers. Panting, Steve hauled the last remaining mercenary to one of the cages and slammed him in.
Finally, it was mostly quiet in the tent, the people in the cages huddling in fear, waiting to see what they would do and there you were. Shifted back to yourself blinking at him, the shield wrapped around your body like a second skin, vibrating with whatever power was built into it. The shock was etched on your face, pain and sorrow quickly melded into a rage. You snarled at him. “What are you doing here Steve?”
Steve felt himself rising in the challenge as he stepped around the tossed cages, stalking towards you. You looked as fierce as ever, his Little One ready to battle the enemy, but now it was him you were bracing to go against. Your eyes roved over him protectively, like you were making sure he wasn’t injured in any way but kept your touch well away from him.

(4.7 TCG leaks but Big Lore Implications? Maybe)
Well. This is (was) certainly an interesting Moment.
See. narwhal coming in TCG right? i obviously lost it we are all aware. so i was checking that shit out Instantly the second it was uploaded onto hakushin to see the kind of playstyle theyd given my beloved
but there was something else. see. tldr the narwhal starts at only 5hp but it basically eats all your discarded cards to increase its own max hp and dmg dealt (also takes into account the dice cost of the discarded cards). which i Love its so on brand and lore accurate. but anyway. its ult is to summon the electro dude whose dmg and duration is also affected by the cards eaten and their dice cost. such a cool kit right?
But then i saw what they Call the knight summon guy in the first uploaded version of the card kit in ENG
...SHADOW OF THE ANCIENT WHAT NOW????
and like. okay. okay. thats pretty fucking insane this is why i was looking so forward to the narwhal getting a card bc . sometimes tidbits like these just. Happen thru TCG. just casually like that (like parsifals Curiously Familiar Appearance for another relevant one).
bc like. an ancient nemesis huh. on one hand could reference surtalogi since the descriptor for the phantom in 4.2 patch previews in several languages (not sure what the in game stuff says these days) did have some similar wording to surtalogis CN title. also obviously fuels my personal foil hat agenda of surtalogis whole "keeping this very much sentient cosmic being as a Pet TM" being something that from the narwhals POV is very much like. a demeaning act of imprisonment and being used against its will as a pawn (im such a surtalogi hater dude. i Dont trust him). so like thats one option for the. whos the nemesis whose shadow is summoned. its surtalogi. but also ancient is a funny wording for when the guy is very well around to this day so
then theres the other option. bc the narwhal 4.6 namecard speaks of ajax intent on challenging the narwhal again and references hunting for the same whale the "third time" which like. most simple route u could just be seen as. okay despite just freezing up during their 1st encounter at 14 and doing jack shit to "challenge" it he still considered that the "first" hunt, fontaine was 2nd and next is 3rd.
but theres also the. what if the first hunt was the historical ajax of the myth? whose reincarnation our ajax may be? bc if His destiny was also to oppose the narwhal back then in celestias grand plan and possibly had the same constellation tying him to it too. would THAT be the ancient nemesis the knight in the narwhals stomach is the afterimage and shadow of? hmmmmm.

Writing this out for my own reference:
4.4 banners are a skip for me on both accounts. I do like some things about Xianyun, but she doesn't really meet my priority criteria. So maybe someday down the line of rerun, but not right now. I'm just going to be saving on both, get GaMing on main, and probably do the exploration on main, while taking it easy on alt.
4.5 is supposed to have Chiori and is speculated to have Albedo rerun. We'll know Chiori's kit in a few days when beta starts, but the current "leaks" (heavy sus) are describing her as basically Better Albedo. Which... does not really do much for me, when I have Albedo At Home. He's already both Geo and Mondstadt, so he's one of my personal faves. I have no interest in replacing him, similar to why I've skipped out on Itto, despite him being quite cute.
So unless Chiori's kit is just absolutely fire, amazing, 10/10 (which won't be the case), whether I roll on her will depend on the 4 stars on her banner. If she's paired with Itto and has Gorou, then obviously that's great, I'll happily take her. If she unexpectedly has Dahlia, I'll take her. (Though I doubt Dahlia will be playable in 4.5. At most, I think he'll appear in the event, like Mika did, and get released later.)
Also, her weapon is supposed to be usable on Albedo, so if the second weapon is good too, I might go for weapon banner instead. My most recent fancy is getting Lyney's bow for Childe. I have some misc reasons that are totally very smart, I promise. So if it's that, or Jade Cutter with Albedo, I'll roll her weapon banner.
If it's none of those, then 4.5 is probably also a skip.
The other character I still want from Fontaine is Arlecchino, speculated for 4.6. I definitely can't get both her and Chiori without some truly insane luck, so if I do go for Chiori('s 4 stars), I'll have to skip her until rerun. It would be nice if she had a strong kit, but tbh I don't see that being too likely. Passable but unremarkable Pyro on-field DPS (like Scaramouche) seems the most likely, or maybe a good but unremarkable niche buffer (like Baizhu or Shenhe), given that we're on the second half of the nation and this is where the game always starts slowing down. We're also getting the Pyro Nation next, which is going to have the Pyro Archon and likely at least one more very powerful Pyro unit (like Alhaitham and Neuvillette). So they're not gonna waste a particularly good kit on Arlecchino here, imo. But I'm mostly interested in her because she has pants, so the kit would just be icing.
There is also speculation that the next set of skins, during summer, will include Albedo and Sucrose. Huge if true! I would be very excited, but also need genesis crystals for Albedo's... god help me if there's two 5 star skins for Mondstadt characters.
For my alt, I'm just in saving mode for Neuvilette. His rerun should be... 4.5 or 4.7. Since Furina and Arlecchino are supposed to be 4.6, I feel like sticking him in there would be too much. I would ideally like to get both him and either his C1 or his weapon, though it might depend on what he's paired with. After that, it'll be saving for Childe... whenever his rerun will be. That should also be when I get his C4 on my main, so I'll finally be able to experience what that's like.
Anyway, the wishing should settle down as we get into the end of the nation, so I'll also try to spend less time on grinding both primos and mats/artifacts. I really need to stop using up all my resin and ideally doing dailies. Ideally, I'd like to use my main only when a new area releases and my alt maybe once a week or so.

technically, we haven't passed the 6-months mark but whatev'
Since there's been a bit more activity on this page lately (hello new followers!), I thought it be a good time to have a little retrospect on what has happened the past few months and a couple of my thoughts. Also some milestones passed :D
Note: I discuss some stats of the game, out of transparency and to give people one particular view on how IF games are doing.
It's going to be pretty long, since I'll discuss all projects I have at hands, so under the cut!

Status: Completed.
I am publishing this on the day I released MtP, the first version at least, on itch. This was my first ever IF game and my first 'serious' piece of writing in years. The game itself if pretty light-hearted, but I hadn't written anything substantial (aside from uni papers) in a long while...
Since, I've been wanting to write something light-hearted again, though I neither had the time or ideas... maybe one day, lol. It was really a fun project to start out with this medium and program!
This project had been shelved pretty much as soon as it was published, as it was a completed project and self-contained stories. Still, last January, I gave it a neat UI update to make it neater. I also published a tutorial on how to reach all endings [link]! But it is also officially and forever shelved! For real this time.
It is not my most popular project by far -and that's more than fine!-, but it has passed the 2k plays mark a few weeks ago! Which was really neat!
Other neat stats:

Since February, I have been working really hard on this project. I don't think I spent more than a few days away from it, in one form or another, even when my wrists were out of commission. CRWL has seen 2 major story updates and a UI update since the beginning of the year.
I have finally have a clear head/roadmap for the rest of the project and know where I am taking it. It will be a huge project, that will most likely span a few years, looking at my notes and how fast I progress through it. I am dreading a bit how huge it will get, but am also so very excited to see where it goes and how much I will learn from it. I would not be surprised if it crossed the 1M words count at some point, lol -we will pass 100k online in the next update already-.
Speaking of the next update, it should be right around the corner. I know I've been talking about it for weeks now, but the Beta is (or should be) in its last stretch. I have completed all edits/proofreading. All previous bugs have been fixed. The only thing I worry is the formatting, it can get a bit wonky at times. It is frustrating, but I am getting there!

If you were following me when this game came out (or in its past updates a few months back), you'd know I made this one in less than 2 weeks for a jam. As proud I was to churn out a functionally working game in this time frame, I was never happy with its result. I was forced to scrap most of the story for time constraints and other neat ideas because I did not know how to implement it.
So, when I got frustrated with CRWL since I re-started the project, I've been switching over to this game and worked on it in the hope to release a better version with a proper fleshed out story and better code. It will be a proper Interactive Novel now :P. It really has been bugging me since last year...
Anyway, the new draft has been going really well with 13 out of 30 scenes written. Each character will have a fleshed out background and story. While there will be little in the character creation side and choice (since the game goes forward as you play a round), I wanted to have the story be as least repetitive as possible. Each round/scene has its own story (or 2) and maybe ending(?)
I am also planning to have a new UI! If I can manage to make it work...
Unsurprisingly, this project never took off (but I hope it will after I finish it, cause I think it is really cool -game within a game type-). We just passed 400 plays! It has been rated 4 times, for an average of 4.3 and added to 38 collections. It has a ratio of 2.9 views per play.

TTTT has been on hiatus almost as soon as I started teasing it. It was intended to be created for the IF Comp of 2022 (but I, like, disappeared for a while). I've always been thinking about this project since, but didn't know how to get back to it. (I wanted to have it out for the Spring Thing, but tbh I was knees deep in CRWL, so yea).
The main problem I had is I pushed myself in a corner by focusing on details rather than the big picture. I have the code ready to go-ish, but the story never took off (because I was too focused on ONE thing). It was so frustrating, I just gave up.
Lately, I've been discussing the project around me, and I got excited to go back to it. It is not a priority at all -I have enough in my hands-, but if I can manage a IF Comp 2022 release, I'd be pretty happy. Otherwise Spring Thing 2023?

This one is also a Jam baby. Created in 1 month during January for the @/interact-if game jam, it made me excited to work on a different genre and different setting. I was also on a Sci-fi binge in my reading list then :P
Still, I wasn't happy with the cliffhanger I gave it (you can ready why here). I also wanted to continue the story in some way. I know the big twists and what needs to be revealed. Also the Robot. I heard the players loud and clear, the robot will come back.
BUT I haven't had the time or spoons for it (made me real sad tbh). I have been working on it behind the scenes here and there. There was some UI concept for the codex (with a working design) and a bunch of notes on my desk.
Before I come back to it, I want to have the story structure clear and ready for writing. I don't have it just yet. So for now, it is essentially on hiatus until I am ready to go back to it.

Note: I am not writing this project, only coding it. M is taking his time writing it, because this project is for fun and writing is not always fun. I have been trying not to nag him, because it doesn't help.
The story has been mapped on paper by chapters. 2/8 chapters are drafted and 1 is coded (just to see how it looks).
In any case, whatever is written will be uploaded in October 2022. Hopefully the whole game will be done. At worst, I have 2 chapters.

Since March, I've become one of the mods of @/interact-if (you probably saw my icon on your feed if you follow that blog, or if you hang out in the discord) and helping out with the events (you should check out the interviews!). It's been exciting to read the different experiences of other authors and be able to share it with so many people. It also meant I taken a bit of a break sharing much over on this page. I should maybe remedy that.
I also have a side blog @manonamora-rb where I reblog stuff that doesn't fit the vibe I want to have on this one. I want to do like I preach by rebloging stuff I like so I usually reblog dump and queue a bunch of stuff there.
