Another small Clone^2 thought
Danny's hands are scarred.
Really, every part of him is. His arms, his legs, his torso. All of them littered in nicks and scratches and scabs that he's picked at over, and over, and over again. And then bigger ones, jagged scars from debris stabbing at him, and burns of ectoplasm blasts that melted through his regular clothes and hit his skin.
The one thing that never really got scarred were his hands. They were callused, of course, from all his climbing, and hitting, and hanging on for dear life to things. But never really scarred, not really. Maybe he just got lucky, maybe it was the fact that he wore gloves and they leather, and leather is harder to get through than cotton. Maybe both.
But, well, that's no longer case. But the scars on his hands take place on his palms. Two clean, thick lines going diagonally over his palms. Not from any enemy he's ever faced, but proof of his meeting with the little boy sitting between his knees, running his tiny fingers over those same scars.
Damian, his little brother. He scarred them, with that katana of his.
First when they first met, when Damian called him an imposter and proceeded to attack him. It was really only from Danny's exposure to the quick movements of ghosts that kept him from getting shish-kabob'd by Damian's sword.
And it was only because he was an idiot, and his brain was not faster than those reflexes that he kept grabbing the blade with his hands. That it kept cutting into that leather until it started cutting skin.
And then numerous times over on those rocky first months of Damian staying with him, when he didn't know any English, and Danny didn't know any Arabic. When Danny would piss him off or go looking for him when he ran off, he would have to grab his katana while Damian was swinging it at him.
His hands wouldn't heal for months because of it. The wounds kept being re-opened. Kept bleeding. Kept hurting. Until they slowly stopped hurting, and he knew that it wasn't a good thing.
Danny's parents were very upset when they saw his hands. It was hard to lie about where he got them - the lines are too clean, too consistent, to have been accidents. Danny didn't know how to lie and say it wasn't because of Damian. That it wasn't his katana that they knew nothing about that was stained with his blood.
He found a way to anyways, because he thought Damian was worth it at the time. He was a kid. He was scared. He was hurting other people and that's all he was ever taught to do.
So Danny thought a little pain was worth it.
(He still does.)
Oh, fun fact. There are three nerves in the human hand. the radial nerve, the median nerve, and the ulnar nerve. From what he could find on it, the ulnar nerve traveled up into the pinky and the ring finger, the median went through the middle of the palm and the ring, the middle, and the index, and the radial nerve went into the thumb and the index.
Fun fact, did you know consistent (or deep enough) lacerations to the palm could end up cutting a nerve? And that such lacerations can cause numbness, loss of feeling, and weakness in the hand, fingers, and thumb?
Here's a final fun fact: Danny had to go to physical therapy after his hands finally began to heal. Because Damian's katana had cut his radial nerve. There are seventeen thousands touch receptors in the hand, Danny's lost some of those.
His hands still hurt when he closes and opens them, the scarring pinches a little. He doesn't know why but his fingers hurt now when its too humid or too cold, or when its about to rain. It sucks. It's worth it.
He lied about before; here's the final fun fact:
There is a deeply, deeply, guilty look on Damian's face as he runs his little hands over Danny's scarred palms, carefully closing and opening his fingers in a slow rendition of his physical therapy workouts.
(Because even if it's ended, he still has to do them. Pain doesn't go away even if it's healed.)
"I'm sorry." Damian says in a meek, thick voice. He's said it before, when they've done this before at all hours of the day. Danny's wondering if Damian does it on purpose - hurt himself with this, that is. Not apologize. "I hurt you."
Danny sighs, deeply, and leans forward to press his face into his little brother's hair. "It's okay." He mutters, again. And he'll say it again, and again, and again, until Damian finally believes him. "I'm not mad."
"I am." Damian insists, his voice wobbles. "I hurt you, Danny."
"And I say it's okay that you did, Damian." Danny repeats, and wraps an arm around Damian's middle to sit him on his leg. Damian doesn't look at him, just curls his fingers around Danny's other hand and looks at the scar there. "Like I said, I'm not mad. I would do it again."
"Do not."
So, Danny's hands are scarred.

A DC X DP IDEA #28
My Beloved
Imagine dis…
You know, I like misunderstandings…
I saw a bunch of prompts that Danny is the mother of Ellie and Dan who is angry and will destroy the world in the future.
I also saw a bunch of prompts of Danny and Phantom separating themselves and acting like two individual beings but having to be in proximity or else there would be consequences.
But I didn’t see anything about combining the two things…
HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
Daniel “Danny” Fenton knew that he had many powers, that kept on growing and appearing at the heat of the moment. He would sometimes forget how many powers he had due to his never-ending list. He has powers that he likes to use often, like levitation, flight, intangibility, his ghostly wail, and many more… But even he has a favorite, his duplication power.
Unlike Vlad who can create multiple clones of himself to do his bidding, he can only create one.
Now don’t go on and underestimate him just because he can only create one despite Vlad making multiple and who is also a halfa.
His clone is unique, when he first discovered this power of his he was all alone in the house full of guns to kill him when a passing thought passed his mind. Wes was getting on his nerves with how he adamantly tried to prove that he was Phantom. He knew the consequences when the people knew the truth, especially his parents, every time he closed his eyes it always showed him and his parents at the other end of the dissecting table.
He kept on saving them, poor animal ghosts who had just stumbled through the portal. He kept on stuffing his face with his pillows just to block out the screams.
He had just blinked, one moment he was all alone and all of a sudden another appeared in front of him.
He was startled at the notion while the clone looked at him with interest.
The clone was not human-HIM per se, but it was the ghostly-HIM aka Phantom but with more ghostly attributes.
Snow white hair that seems to sway, taller by a few feet, pointed ears, fanged teeth, skin so blue, and white freckles that seem to give off a faint glow.
He tried going ghost but was unable to do so, what he can do is a weaker version of flight, intangibility, and invisibility. While Phantom got most if not all of his powers whenever he went ghost.
At first, he was ecstatic with this new power of his not only he can throw people off who are looking too deeply into Phantom’s identity and put an end to Wes’s chatter but with this new power of his he can finally have some sort of normalcy.
But after a few minutes, he began to feel fatigued and nauseous, Phantom slowly moved towards Danny and merged himself with his human half causing a faint white glow all over his body that he got used to whenever he was going ghost.
It was a few minutes, Danny thought to himself, but it was enough to not only create a separation between the kid who always hides in the bathroom or disappears whenever there is a ghost attack and a ghost kid who looks the same age as he and only appears whenever he disappears.
But it was enough.
Everything was great, as Phantom was able to deal with the ghosts that constantly invaded his hometown but also, he is slowly bringing his grades up from where it was before the accident. He also created an alibi for himself so people will know that both Phantom and Danny and two separate people.
Both sides were able to go on separated from each other the more time they spent separated
After a few days, something also began to change.
Phantom would sometimes make a joke or a quip about death or even puns that made Danny laugh. Phantom would be more serious whenever they got too far from each other, small things that made both Danny and Phantom different from one another from an outside perspective.
Both made a mental connection to each other.
Not like romantically, but more of a deep platonic love for each other.
Devotion to each of their other halves. So deep that one might double-take whenever they saw the two.
Danny loves his friends and family but even they cannot understand him ever since the day of the accident. Jazz blessed his sister’s soul, who read every book in every existence known to man and tried to help him. But the thing is, those books are for humans, not ghosts, and especially not for someone like him.
He died and came back to life knowing instinctively that something was wrong with him. He stands in between life and death. He knew he died and felt every bolt of electricity that had killed him. He who had to sit still at the dinner table listening to their parents who were supposed to love them, listened in great detail to what they would do to Phantom when they had caught him.
But Phantom, Phantom instinctively knew how he felt and heard his thoughts. When rough days came to Danny, Phantom quietly appeared behind him and offered his silent support.
Both needed each other to live, without the other one cannot survive on their own.
Phantom, when got too far and separated from his human for far too long got reckless, angry, cold, merciless, and ruthless. Nocturn got the burnt of it despite knowing that Phantom held back.
And Danny?
Got too emotional, and detached, and has that far-away look on his face. He would space out an entire war or destruction surrounding and he still would not notice.
Both are each other’s anchor and rock. And when both become one and become Phantom together then they will be unstoppable.
When Danny became the Ghost King it was clear they needed to separate often due to the amount of paperwork that was left pilling when Pariah Dark was in charge.
It became domestic, Danny thought as he paused for a bit when he was trying to write a book report from the Lord of the Rings courtesy of Mr. Lancer. Add the latest guests in his room he thought as he took a look at the sleeping and cuddled up Dan and Ellie who are now freshly de-aged due to some circumstances.
When Danny tried to explain to the two halves the reason why he and Phantom seemed to separate or why he was using this power of his almost every day.
Dan and Ellie seem the only two who didn’t feel weird at his new predicament. Both de-aged ghosts after a sudden bad melting episode and the start of someone’s redemption arc called human Danny is their mom while Phantom is their dad.
Danny at first surprised at the title given by the two but asked playfully to the twins why is he the mom. Phantom who was trying to cuddle the two de-aged ghosts whom he saw as his children at this point and his human counterpart mumbled about whether was it the time when he went and juggled flaming diapers or mastered the art of the 'mom stare' that could freeze a room?
Danny who is still in a bad mood from Dash’s bullying earlier snarked back at Phantom on how he got the dad title. Did he accidentally perfect the art of 'dad dancing' during ghostly gatherings? or accidentally stumble into a dad joke competition?
Sam, often would joke that if she didn’t know better, she would think the two would be lovers which would be found in Paulina’s A03 account and history.
Now that spread like wildfire, it spread faster than Wes could say Danny is Phantom. Now both GIW and his parents are out to get him for two different reasons… One Phantom mind controlled their precious son and now locked up Danny for his “own good” and two he was called a so-called “traitor” to his race as he fell in love with a creature who was not even sentient.
As things slowly went out of hand, Danny had to physically drag Phantom, who had been clawing and gripping to Danny like a lifetime ever since Danny told him to stay at the Infinite Realms for their safety, to a portal with the two children who have their eyes puffed red as they say their farewells to each other.
The JL is now confused, they kept seeing the same teen on the loose that appeared in various cities such as Metropolis, Central, Star City, and many more, with various government agents tailing him and trying to capture him.
At first, they thought it was another of Walker’s programs, in which they kidnap various kids who have a powerful meta ability to be part of a group that directly answers to the government.
But when it was revealed that he is another son of Bruce Wayne, it became personal.
Could it be another ploy to gain the Wayne enterprise through a much older and miniature appearance of Bruce Wayne, is it another ploy to gain Bruce Wayne’s wealth and money… They might never know.
Batman aka Bruce Wayne publicly announced that he had found another son who was rummaging in the trash of Gotham City, this way those mysterious agents could not publicly go after him as Danny had been publicly broadcasted and the manor is equipped with the latest security known to man.
Danny is very skittish the Batfam concluded, as if every move and twitch they made is something Danny should be wary of. Danny was too distracted to be sad, and have little to no energy to even join Dick and the rest of his siblings to bond over something.
However, that didn’t stop them from forming some sort of familial bond with Danny despite him being too guarded and too wary to get close to the family.
However, it all changed on a random day, as the entire noticed his change of mood. No longer the wariness, anxiety, and nervousness they encountered daily. Each of them began asking around within themselves if they were the one who made a change to Danny, even Alfred didn’t know who or what made him turn a 180.
Of course, when they tried to ask COUGH to interrogate COUGH Danny, he just kept quiet and smiled shyly.
..
Night comes and all the Bats are gathered at the cave to discuss what made Danny to be in a good mood before their patrol.
As they were just about to leave for their shift when Oracle notified them Danny leaving the manor.
Of course, all of them immediately followed him and followed him to a tall abandoned building with Danny sitting giddily on top of the said building. Of course, some of them have some dark thoughts about Danny sitting on top of a warehouse and seeming near the edge. One of the Bat broods is ready to interfere if Danny even makes any signs.
But all thoughts were thrown out as a crack seemed to tear through reality appeared behind Danny, Danny on the other hand looked ecstatic. As the tear/ crack opened up there they saw an underworldly being donned with a crown that is covered in various jewels, an outfit and cape fit for an emperor, and eyes that reminded them of the Lazarus pits.
Just as the moment they tried to calm their hearts down, Danny flung himself towards the unknown being and cried out beloved, the said being caught Danny and twirled him around.
Both are in their little world as they both keep laughing and hugging each other.
The Bat family who are still in the shadows kept their eyes on the two as they wanted to get Danny away from someone that made their instincts go haywire. Batman and Robin are both especially to grab Danny away from that thing.
Both the being and Danny finally settled down and began chatting to each other with little to no distance between the two. The being then summoned a basket that was full of unique and exotic food and then shared it with their new brother.
Then Danny suddenly asked about the kids, What kids!!! EVERYONE thought when suddenly two black blurs went and tackled Danny down, knocking the air out of him.
As the kids stopped hugging Danny, they all held their breaths, they looked like the perfect copy of Danny. Black hair and blue eyes, both kids exclaimed Danny as their mom while they pouted at the being and called him dad about hoarding their mom.
The reunited “family” began chatting about how they were at each other, more on the beings asking how Danny is especially doing.
Danny chatted about how the Waynes are too good for him and how he informed Batman since the Bats have a very close relationship with the Waynes. When one of the kids why mom needs to talk to Batman, Danny just casually reveals a bombshell on the Anti-Ecto laws, GIW, The Infinite realms...etc. So that both mom and dad could get together again, as mom aka Danny is trying everything to stop the war from the living world while their dad tries to stop the war from the Realms.
As they were chatting and catching up to one another, Danny looked at his wristwatch and told the kids that he had to get going or else the Waynes might notice that he snuck out. Both kids immediately cried and gripped Danny while the other being also known as dad didn’t even try to pry the kids off from Danny as he too wanted to stay with the human.
Of course, Danny gently pried off the three hands that were gripping and immediately one of the kids threw a tantrum at how Danny was not safe and might get him killed if he stayed there and Danny should just go with them. Of course, Danny shook his head and told the kid that Mommy was doing everything he could to protect both of them also he might not want to admit it in front of the Wayne but he did grow on them, like a fungus he can’t remove.
And so, the trio left the building after one last look and hug from Danny, Danny immediately lost the small life and cheerfulness that he had when he was meeting them and silently went back to the manor.
This made the Bat clan scramble to fix everything, all the while competing for the favorite uncle and aunt title while both Bruce and Alfred engage in their silent war for the grandpa title, when they showed their findings to the League both Booster Gold and the Flask stood up white as paper.
They claimed at the picture of Danny, that he may be the one who destroyed the future, but looked a little confused as some traits that they remembered were not on Danny which made them speculate that maybe he grew into. But when the two-time travelers explained in great detail his appearance, it matched the appearance of their nephew.
Is this the reason why Dan turned evil, humans have killed his family leaving him both angry and devastated that he let the world know of his pain?
PS: If someone out there wants to continue or make a fic about this you are free to do so, don’t forget to tag me though.
PPS: As you can see, I posted a bit early, I got a bunch of people to do and things to see. So uhh, bye-bye!
PPPS: This one got too long for my liking...

DPxDC: Jarro Adopts an Alien
Ok, so Danny has a space obsession and a protection obsession (I headcanon that as a halfa, Danny has two obsessions like all Halfas do which makes them unique to other ghosts.) and so while he can get his fill protecting people in Amity, he struggles with his space obsession. Sure, he can look up everything he can about space and the stars on the internet. He can stay up until 2 am looking at the stars (who needs sleep? He’s a ghost, he can go days, or even weeks without sleep if he wants, same with a lack of air or food.) but it’s just not enough. He craves to learn more, see more. Just as Dani gets that itch to travel, Danny wonders. What would it be like to see the stars up close? Are they really as hot as a dragons fire breath? Hotter!? Or maybe they are so hot they are cold. What does it look like to see plasma dancing across the surface, or touch the gasses of Jupiter? Does Pluto have ice caves like the far frozen? How many planets are actually out there? What about Mars. There’s a whole species living there with a language and culture Danny can’t even fathom! Oh what he wouldn’t give to talk with martian manhunter or Superman.
And what’s stopping him from exploring this? He can fly. He doesn’t need air. He can go intangible if it gets too hot and he’s practically immune to the cold. He wants to touch a space rock! See if they are smooth because there is no wind or earth to rub against them and erode the surface. He wants to see what planets they come from. What minerals they might have. He wants to know if there are currents in space. All of these things are right there just above the atmosphere. Surely it couldn’t hurt to take a quick peek. So he does. During a particularly bad day Danny flies as fast as he can until the earth’s gravity looses its effects. Until his hair is floating as of it’s in water even more than normal. Until he can feel when breathing no longer became a choice (still not necessary though). And it…was beautiful. To be surrounded by space. To see the earth like this. Pictures just didn’t do it Justice. He flew across the solar system and as he passed planets, he longed to fly through them. To search every crevice and learn their secrets. But he had a bigger prize in mind at the moment. The crown jewel of their universe. The closest star he could find. The sun.
Danny was mesmerized. The plasma really did dance across the surface. Like a never ending performance of science and beauty. There were sparks that few in arcs. Danny flew down and played in them, making a game to see how many he could fly under. His ghost core purred in delight. His obsession had never been more satisfied. He spent hours out there. Just exploring what his solar system had to offer. So when he returned? He couldn’t just forget. Pictures and online science theories had nothing on the real thing. He wanted to explore some more. So he did. Every night he would go out and explore the cosmos. Flying from planet to planet. (Either the Martians were still around and Danny made friends with them, even learning their language, or he just looks at their ruins to learn as much as he can). And with both obsessions now being filled, Danny is more settled. More confident. And he can focus better. Everyone notices the change, even his teachers. They just think that he’s paying more attention to his education now. He’s even better during his ghost fights.
But Danny can fly awfully fast. And he soaks up information even faster. Soon his trips take longer and longer as he flies further out. Sometimes he can barely make it back in time for school. And he can't go every night. Sometimes the ghosts won’t wait for daytime so he has to make sure the town will be safe in his absence. Although he’s been able to take more trips ever since Valerie joined the vigilante ranks. But still, he’s getting farther and farther from earth each night. Until one day he’s visited every planet, every star, every comet or debris in their solar system. Which would be fine. He could deal with that if that was all there was. But it wasn’t. Danny saw the stars just out of reach. He saw places the Milky Way was leaning towards. He saw just the barest hints of new solar systems with new planets and stars. And he knew of legends from lanterns that they had posted online. Heard tales from some scientists that have made better telescopes. And his core itches. It aches to know more. See more. Yet he can't go further. And this puts him in a sort of depression. Suddenly he’s back to his old self. Lagging behind. Distracted. Zoning out. Crashing into a few more buildings during ghost attacks. Yet he tries so hard to be satisfied with what he has. He can still fulfill his obsession…it’s just more like chewing on a granola bar rather than eating a decent meal. He’s almost becoming lethargic.
So one day he goes to Frostbite to see if there’s anything he can do to lessen the effects. But the yeti just takes one look at him and gives him the infimap. And suddenly Danny is in a whole new universe in seconds. The planets are purple. The stars are blue. He’s pretty sure there are furry blob-like creatures living on one of those planets. And suddenly he gets that itch, but holding the infimap, he knows he had time, so he lets himself go.
And for a while it’s good. great even. Since he can’t keep asking the yetis for the infimap, he goes over to Wulf to see if he’s up for an adventure. Most of the time he is and they go exploring the galaxies together. And then Wulf had the genius idea of teaching Danny how to make portals. It took a long time but soon, he could concentrate the surrounding ectoplasm enough to weaken it and pull. It took a while since Danny didn’t have ecto claws and would have to use his pure will. But this would allow him to follow his obsession anytime, anywhere. So it was only a matter of time. And once he figured it out? It was like something was unlocked. Danny had never before understood how Ellie could travel so much. But now he did. That feeling when you discover something new. When you add to your reservoir of knowledge. When the patterns in the universe just click. There is nothing Danny could compare it to. And to explore that whenever he wanted? It was so freeing. While Wulf sometimes still joined Danny’s adventures, Danny did most of his explorations by himself.
He meets various planets and aliens. So many different cultures. He learns thousands of languages. Tries all kinds of foods (and it’s a good thing his ghost self has an iron stomach and he’s basically poison resistant.) even found a whole comet where blood blossoms grew. (Which he most definitely avoided). And wasn’t that fascinating? To find out they were from space.
And then during his travels one day he met a space alien starfish.
It was actually a funny story. A meteor shower was about to attack a planet of talking blue monkey creatures with 4 arms. Danny immediately started diverting them and was soon joined by some lantern corps (which his inner fanboy wanted to talk to so bad.). And a tiny starfish in a…Robin uniform? Oh and the starfish could apparently do martial arts which was interesting to watch him karate chop a meteor. He could also talk directly into Danny’s head which the halfa found more interesting. So they got to talking and apparently his name was Jarro. He seemed to be helping the lantern corps as a ‘proxy from earth’ to make better use of his skills.
Danny would run into Jarro a few more times. Sometimes he was with Lanterns and sometimes he would just be exploring the galaxies. They started forming a pretty strong friendship and Danny would start seeking out the starfish alien to travel with him. He knew all kinds of space facts. Apparently he had an eidetic memory. When they explored, sometimes Jarro would just stick to part of Danny. Wrapped around his arm, his waist, sometimes just sticking to his back like a strange backpack. But they always had fun.
So Danny was happy. He could fulfill both obsessions and got a space pal. Everything was great!
Until the GIW caught him.
It would probably be the worst day of his life.  There was an explosion in the lab. Something set up by them after they realized Danny frequented that place often. So they set a trap and blew it up. Thankfully, Jazz was at college during this but both his parents were home. When the explosion went off, Danny had tried putting a Barrier around them all. It took everything he had to maintain it. That’s how they found out he was phantom. Danny had a few moments where his parents said they accepted him but he couldn’t hold the barrier for long. His parents said that they loved him and then everything went green. He woke up in a lab, tired and injured. His only saving grace being that he remained in phantom form. And he was determined to remain so.
Danny’s time at the GIW was a haze but eventually, he managed to escape. Bleeding, and tired, and still recovering from the burns in the explosion, Danny made a portal straight to Amity. Only when he got there, it was a ghost town. Streets were empty, buildings were boarded up. Even the Nasty Burger was deserted. As for his house, there was nothing but a crater left and some scattered debris. Danny looked everywhere but there was no one. No Jazz. No Sam. No Tucker. No one. and he was tired. And everything hurt, and he needed a friend. Someone he could trust. So in a daze he made a portal and tried to just project safe. Safe safe safe. Somewhere he knew he would be protected. And so Jarro got a surprise when his space buddy suddenly popped out of a green portal, bleeding green and clearly passed out. He didn't know what to do. He didn’t know how to help him. But Jarro knew someone who would.
So with a speed never before seen from a tiny starfish, he flew to earth. Bringing his friend straight to his father. Because surely batman could help!
And with his appearance, the green blood, the knowledge of space facts. The lack of wanting to talk about where he came from (and the nightmares crying out for his parents). This is how the bats became convinced that Jarro brought them an injured alien.

A Broken Sort of Normal- Part 19
WC: 2134, Masterpost
Danny sit up straighter in his chair as he states his name, but Wally can see the wince that Danny tries to hide. Absently, Wally runs through Danny’s schedule of care and when the other will be able to have more pain medication.
“Were you born with powers?” Bruce continues.
“No.”
Wally wants to go to Danny. He wants to tell him that it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter that Danny has powers. It doesn’t mater how he got them. It doesn’t matter that Wally didn’t know. None of it matters to Wally; he’s just glad that Danny is still here.
“Are you comfortable explaining how did you got your powers?”
Danny runs his hand through his hair. He’s nervous. “Some of it. The broad strokes. It was a lab accident, because of course there was. My parents are ecto scientists, they study ghosts. They’re not… let’s just say don’t read their research into ghostly behavior. They are brilliant engineers though. They managed to build a portal to the Infinite Realms—”
“Minging knobheads,” John curses quietly.
“—and I was sorta in the portal when it turned on. Which, um, killed me and revived me at the same time. I was electrocuted while my system was flooded with ectoplasm.”
Killed.
Danny had— Danny had died. Again, before, Danny had died. Wally closed his eyes and swallowed around the catch in his throat. He almost never got the chance to know Danny. A hand fit into his and Wally knows instantly that it’s Dick’s. He grips it back tightly. At least he isn’t listening to this alone.
“It’s not so much that I got powers, as that because I’m half dead, I’m half ghost and I can do the things that ghosts can do. Invisibility, intangibility, flight… things like that. Long story short, someone had to stop the ghosts that the portal let through—”
John is up and pacing now. Zatanna doesn’t even try to stop him.
“—so I sort of became the town hero. I went by Phantom. It was… well, you’ve all been there.”
God, Wally wishes Danny didn’t know how that was.
“Kid… did you even have anyone to help you?” Barry asks.
Danny shrugs. “Two friends and eventually Ja… my older sister.. There are a few ghosts that were sometimes allies but ghosts…”
“Ghosts aren’t good or evil, they’ve got obsessions,” John explains into the silence. “Sometimes those obsessions motivate the ghosts in a way that seems one way or another. It only works out for you as long as your needs aligns with their obsession.”
Wally’s mind spins.
“Danny,” Bruce asks with very careful words, “do you have an obsession?”
He searches back through his memories of Danny.
“Yes.”
It couldn’t be anything anyone would see as bad or dangerous.
“Protection. My obsession is protection. It’s not as compelling to me as it is for a full ghost. For me it’s more like a hunger craving or itch, but it is there. It’s a good part of why I became a paramedic.”
Oh. That made so much sense.
“That’s our Danny,” Danna says, softly, from in their group.
“Why did you not simply join us as a hero?” Diana asks.
“Before, well, things were… complicated? There’s this government agency that considers ghosts non-sentient and—”
Danny jerks back in his chair at all the exclamations that rang out in the room at that. It isn’t just a reaction to the sudden noise, Wally realizes, Danny looks startled at being defended.
It breaks Wally’s heart.
“It’s okay!” Danny says over the din. “They were always pretty incompetent, really, even when working with my parents. I never even ended up vivisected or anything!”
Gar clamps a hand over his mouth and mutters. “I think I’m going to be sick.”
“Danny,” Dianna says his name gently, “have your parents ever attacked you?”
“They don’t know I’m a halfa. They don’t know I’m Phantom,” Danny says. There’s a pleading note to his voice that makes Wally agree with Gar; he’s going to be sick.
“But they’ve attacked Phantom,” Dianna says. It’s not a question, but Danny nods anyways. “Danny, do we need to set up protection for you from your parents?”
“They don’t know—”
“Kid,” Barry interrupts, “what you did was on the news. Like, every news station across the world. I think they know now.”
Danny sits back in his chair. He picks at the already frayed edge of the hoodie. Suddenly he looks small in a way that Wally’s only seen when Danny’s been in the middle of a panic attack. Any strength Danny’s gathered the last few days seems to leave him as his shoulders slump. “Maybe. I guess… I don’t know how they’ll take the news. It’s… maybe. We’ll, um, more than that someone needs to make sure the portal stays closed down. If the ghosts start coming through again…”
The hand Danny presses against his chest shakes. “I’m not as strong as I used to be. I don’t know if my powers will come back still or if this… is what I am now, but my core is weaker than it used to be. If this the way I’ll be now, I won’t be able to fight them off.”
“Are they dangerous?” Bruce asks. “Beyond the morality of their obsession, are they actively dangerous to you?”
“That’s not an easy question. Mostly the ghosts used Amity Park as a new way to fulfill their obsessions. Lunch Lady wants to feed people, which is good, but if you don’t want to eat things can get nasty. Obsessions are like that, they can twist quickly. The ghosts also just like to brawl, a lot of them at least. Some of them would understand if I can’t and back off, but there are others… take Skulker,” Danny says with a wave of his hand, “his obsession is hunting rare game and, well, I’m rare game. He wants to mount my pelt to his wall.”
With an unpleasant noise, Gar dashes from the room. It makes Danny wince and mumble an apology.
Wally is already mentally calling favors to call in to safeguard their apartment, not that he thinks anyone will say no to protecting Danny.
“We’ll make checking on the portal a priority as soon as this meeting is done,” Bruce assures Danny.
“Thank you. I don’t want anyone to be hurt if it gets turned back on.”
“Why has it been off? If it’s off, why would they turn it back on now?” John asks, still pacing.
Danny looks away from the table again. “Because they remember now.”
“The curse?” John asks at the same time Bary asks, “What do you mean remember?”
“I mean they forgot, because, yeah, the curse,” Danny says. He’s back to picking at his sleeve. Everyone gives him time to try and find his words, which he does with a wet laugh. “I was stupid. I mean, I was young, but I still should have known better. I was just… I was having a hard time. My parents were working on a new GIW contract and my friends… team were going off to college… I was going to be alone to deal with the ghosts. I still should have known better. I just wished I could be normal.”
“That’s not wrong, Danny,” Barry says. “We’ve all felt that sometime…”
Danny’s shaking his head. “You don’t understand. You don’t wish in Amity Park.”
“Because of this Desiree?” Zatanna asks.
“Because of Desiree,” Danny confirms. “Some ghosts have very specific powers and those are usually strong powers. For Desiree, it’s… it was reality altering based on wishes. I forgot to never say ‘I wish’.”
After a moment of comprehending silence, Diana asks, “She had the power to make you fully human?”
“No, even borrowing power like I think she did, Desiree couldn’t do that. But that’s not what she needed to do. Normal isn’t a real thing, it’s just societal, you know? She just had to make sure no one remembered I was half dead and, tada, I had a normal life.”
John finally stops pacing and leans against the back of his chair. His cigarette is a mangled mess dangling from his lips. “What was the catch?”
“I wanted to be normal, so I had to stay normal. I couldn’t be noticed using any of my powers or being too ghostly or tell anyone I had died or what things used to be like. If I did— well you all saw what happened,” Danny looks up, finally, right at Wally. “It’s why I couldn’t tell any of you, even if I wanted too. It’s why I couldn’t use my powers to help. As soon as I did, I was good as dead.”
More than ever Wally wants to rush over to Danny’s side. He wants to let Danny know it’s alright that he kept this secret. It doesn’t matter. He settles for what he hopes is a reassuring smile.
“I still don’t know how I survived. As soon as Desiree appeared and took my powers, that should have been it for me. My ghost half can’t survive without them and my human half isn’t alive enough to last by itself. It would be like cutting off a normal person’s oxygen. I should have been ended.”
“We overloaded her,” Zatanna explains.
“Forced all your power— which there was a fucking lot of it— into her at once,” John finished. “She popped like a balloon with too much air.”
“Did you have to describe it that way?” Hal grumbles.
“Oh.” Danny blinks a few times as he took that in. “I guess, okay. I mean, yeah, I was more powerful than a lot of ghosts; something about being a halfa and my state being mutable still. I didn’t think though… right, okay. But how am I still here?”
“When she popped,” John says with a smirk towards Hal, “the air was full of ambient ectoplasm. Flash zapped you, re-started your heart, and the cloud went up like a match in a fart.”
Danny’s face wrinkled up at that. “Ew. But, alright. I mean it was my power first. I guess that…” Danny’s hand comes up to press over his sternum. “I guess that means this is my power level now.”
“And the rest of the curse?” Zatanna asks, leaning forward in her seat.
“Gone. People remember now.”
Wally thought to all the phone messages Danny had been getting in a new light.
“That’s why we need to make sure the portal is closed.”
“As well as that the GIW are shut down and that your parents do not try to harm you,” Diana says with that firm certainty of hers.
“Right,” Danny says after a beat. It’s hard to see how clearly Danny doesn’t consider himself a priority. “And… for the rest of it all?”
Diana tilts her head in question. “The rest of it?”
“I didn’t tell anyone my status. I lied to some of you. Is that…”
“You did what you needed to stay alive and hurt no one.” She holds up a hand to stop any protests from Danny. “While I have no doubt with your heart as it is you do not wish you could have done more, it would have never been asked of you at the cost of your life. You are a hero, Danny, and have been since you joined the Response Team in Central City. You have only continued to prove it by your willingness to act and the honor with which you did so. The Justice League is proud to still have you as your post, as soon as you are recovered.”
Finally the last of the tension drains Danny’s shoulders. “I’ll be happy to get back to it.”
Wally tunes Diana out as she wraps up the meeting.
“I’m going to ask him,” Wally says to Dick, who still has his hand.
“What? Now?” Dick hisses.
Wally watches as Danny shakes Clark’s hand. “Why not? Everyone’s here, like you said had to be.”
“Because it’s a debrief! That’s not exactly the most romantic moment.”
The other Titans are standing around them, waiting for their chance to see Danny. Even Gar is back.
“I almost missed my chance, N. I almost never got to ask,” Wally pleads. “I don’t want to miss it again.”
Dick just sighs and pulls a small case out of his belt. He presses it into their clasped hands before releasing his grip
Wally can feel the smile stretching across his face. “You know me so well.”
Dick just shoves Wally off his chair. “Go get your man. Ghost? Man ghost.”
Laughing, Wally fumbles to his feet and towards Danny.
“Danny!”
Danny who’s still here and alive.
Who smiles like the sun as he turns towards Wally.
“Yes?”

AN: I don't know, is it too cruel to end right there? 😇 Don't worry, we'll get an epilogue to hopefully tie the loose ends up in a bow! But this is the last half of the last full chapter! They know! And they still respect and love Danny. He can stop worrying~

Danny, is by all means, forgetful.
It was the same reason from time and time again that he gets beaten up quite easily before actually remembering certain skills that he could use like his intangibility and ectoshield.
And the fact that he was a bit of a not so smart person, didn't help him defeat Desiree quickly ages ago.
So Danny may have powerful skills in his arsenal, he can't really use them because of his frequent forgetfulness or that he's a C minus student.
So whenever Danny helped in fighting villains with the Young Justice or the Justice League, they became quite concerned for the young halfa (if the ghost really is young).
The way Danny crashed into buildings, punched and blasted, stabbed and electrocuted, they couldn't help but feel worry. Danny heals quickly and the pain gets numbed whenever he's Phantom but for the heroes, it seemed painful by the way Danny is acting and that's mostly because of the human side of his, it's still thinks he's alive and had to create expressions appropriate for the situation he was in.
Not only that, the heroes deemed him to be weak but can't do anything about it since he's not in the team or in the league. Danny was a solo hero, he told them that he's only here, in Gotham, for a 'vacation', (it's a school field trip), and will be away after a few days.
But what's more is that Danny and Phantom are split once more, Danny decided to use that dreamcatcher like machine made by his parents and split into two. Having Fun Danny to focus on the field trip and Hero Danny to focus on protecting him and everyone else and that was why Phantom is always with the heroes defeating a villain.
And then, by the end of it all, when the field trip ends, Hero Danny bids his farewell to the heroes and goes to an alley. Phantom doesn't know that he was being followed by the heroes and when they saw a kid with a machine next to him, they all got curious.
Fun Danny: Wassup, dude.
Hero Danny: Greetings, weak human!
Fun Danny: Seriously?
Hero Danny: No time to dilly dally now! We have to get back to the bus or we'll be late!
Fun Danny: Relax, man. We can just fly our way back anyways.
Hero Danny: And that's the kind of an irresponsible son would say.
Fun Danny: Okay, fine, let's get this over with.
And that's when those hero stalkers saw that a human boy got possessed by the hero ghost with the help of the machine.
And a misunderstanding ensues, causing the heroes to make plans and go to this place called Amity Park.

The Wight Baby for the Job (DC x DP)
Some thoughts on There's a Mr Wight Hood to see you? (You do need to read that to get this, but it's not long you'll manage)
When we left our family last time, Jason had stormed the watchtower to demand the Justice League's help with finding Danny, who's ectoplasm was unlocked and had subsequently been kidnapped.
There were a few different takes as to who might have kidnapped Baby Danny. I think it was CADMUS. After Phantom vanishes I think the other ghosts would clear out. Shit just got a lot more dangerous for everybody. So after a few months, the GIW are downsized. At least some of those agents get folded into CADMUS.
So, the crazy clone people know about ghosts.
Jason's going feral with fear, but there's something he doesn't know.
Danny is a baby who has suddenly developed all the powers of a fully grown halfa and then been violently kidnapped.
He's hungry. He's cranky. He wants his dad. He's been very clearly requesting his dad (he can say 'Dada' by this point), and all these non-dads are ignoring him.
Danny isn't locked in here with them, they're locked in here with him.
It's like if the kid in Home Alone was less than 12 months old, but had superpowers.
He screams when he's hungry and causes the equivalent of an earthquake that's a 6 on the Richter Scale. He possesses multiple scientists and thinks it's funny because babies don't have morals. He duplicates himself and has a nap holding his double like a teddy bear. The nap is inside their supercomputer room and ruins all the machinery with his ghostly cold aura (supercomputers usually run with a warm-water system and cost a mint). When very brave scientists attempt to take blood he goes intangible and then tangible so the needle is now inside himself.
He's bobbing around like a balloon in the breeze, dropping radioactive needles onto people and starts to scream-cry again.
Locking down the facility in case he tries to escape only makes it worse. And someone definitely reported those double earthquakes to the authorities.

DP x DC prompt where Bruce and Tim go to investigate Amity Park, with Jason in tow, all suited up. They’ve heard a strange claim about “ghosts” there, and trying to research the town revealed a concerning government presence and tampered records.
The moment they enter the town, the ectoplasm in the air starts rapidly filtering out the corrupted ectoplasm in Jason’s system and strengthening his underdeveloped core (kinda like To Join the Whispers). Jason doesn’t tell Bruce or Tim at first since he’s kind of freaking out about how the Pit is responding to the town. Then Jason’s arm goes through a table and they don’t really have any idea what is happening and are now all freaking out about it. Danny sees this happen and immediately recognizes the same sudden, uncontrollable power displays he had after the Accident.
Danny is extremely torn because he wants to help (a new halfa?? or something close enough??? and he’s a vigilante???? hell yeah), but he’s also Terrified of Batman going anywhere near his fucking house. So he introduces himself as Phantom and tries his best to steer them away from FentonWorks while also trying to help talk Red Hood through everything and dump a lot of ghost facts on them. Going to see Frostbite is extremely tempting, but Danny’s pretty sure he can handle this. Pretty sure. (He does Not want Batman near the portal, since it means being in his gd house, and he doubts he can get Red Hood there without Batman following.)
The bats didn’t even know who Phantom was until they arrived in Amity and they’re all a Little concerned that this random, powerful ghost child is this excited about Jason essentially going through ghost puberty in record time. It’s even more concerning that Phantom doesn’t seem at all surprised that a human can be part ghost in any way, which means either Phantom is somehow human himself (somehow) or that this is just not a new occurrence in this town.
They came here to figure out wtf was happening in Amity, and Phantom’s raising about 50 more questions by the second. Bruce sees Phantom take down a mutant ghost bear ripping through town and now he’s pretty sure this ghost child (who may or may not be partially alive??) is a load-bearing feature of the town. He’s not a fan of that. Bruce is even more concerned that, upon mentioning the government presence in town, Phantom says the GIW is causing more problems for the town and is actively hunting him.
Jason’s just... having a time. He’s never felt so zen and anxious at the same time. He wants to feel skeptical about Phantom and what’s going on, but being anywhere near the kid makes him feel like he’s hanging out with his best friend since childhood, wrapped in a warm blanket and safe as can be. (And the Pit is quiet and his mind feels Clear.)
The only reason the bats didn’t attack Phantom and drag Jason away in the first place is because Jason doesn’t Want to leave and jumped to defending the kid oddly quick. They tried to drag Jason out of town but he’s turning partly-intangible now whenever someone touches him and they physically can’t.
Danny’s pretty much adopted Red Hood as his new brother and even if he doesn’t trust Batman as far as he can throw him (far), he feels like he’s doing a pretty good job juggling mentoring Red Hood and managing to derail Batman’s investigation at the same time. Tucker helped lure the Drs. Fenton out of town with a fake ghost hunting convention, and the online information for anything in Amity is so butchered (between Tucker, Technus, and the GIW each having their turn at tampering) that the bats are having to rely mostly on word of mouth for their investigation.
He’s not doing quite as good of a job as he thinks he is, though. All it took was Phantom badmouthing the FentonWorks building once in passing for Bruce to look into it. They try to break into the place the moment they think Phantom’s gone-- only the house has some Surprisingly violent security systems and Phantom appears out of no where and drags them away.
They plan to go back the next day, cause there’s definitely Something there and they’re pretty sure it’s the answers they need. (Even just looking at the weird structure on the roof pretty much promises that.)
Only... Jason’s developing core (which isn’t fully formed and is soaking up the ectoplasm in Amity like a sponge) turns out to be an electric core. It starts going Buckwild with pent up energy, and Danny is having None of that. He goes from being very happy and excited to just-- terrified and flighty.
Random sparks of electricity around the kid with the Worst track record with that stuff? Yeah, no thanks.
Danny races home and just paces endlessly, confiding in Jazz that he doesn’t know what to do and wants to help and feels awful for bailing on them-- but he doesn’t feel capable handling someone with electricity sparking off of them like water off a duck. He thinks they need Frostbite’s help, which means letting Batman into FentonWorks, which means opening himself up to the possibility (probability) of Batman finding out more about the Fentons, Danny Fenton specifically, and Phantom.
The bats are panicking because, skeptical of Phantom or not, he was the only person providing them with answers and trying to help. Jason’s stressed to high hell without the calming feeling of Phantom nearby-- AND electricity now jolting from his hands uncontrollably on top of everything. The electricity is just coming and going at random, with him having no control over it.
They go to FentonWorks, their only lead, and this time a girl with red hair answers the door. She’s clearly stressed out about something-- and she has Phantom in her house, looking dejected and still very terrified as he keeps his distance. Why Phantom is in a house that is clearly stacked to the nines with ghost hunting equipment is... suspicious.
Jason’s powers act up almost immediately after entering the house-- causing some very scary damage to the nearest light fixture-- and Jazz is like “yeah no, we need to fix this Now” and marches them straight to the portal. The entire time she’s trying to explain her parents’ work and how they have friends through this portal that can help, and it’s Quite the sell to make on the fly.
They walk past a few family pictures on the wall on the way to the lab and it’s all Tim needs to see to be like “Soooo Phantom is definitely your brother-- hey um why is your brother a ghost??” He expresses this aloud and the way Danny tries to stammer and hide it is as good of confirmation as anything.
And then they see the state of the lab. All of the ghost-hunting weapons just lying around, and the giant portal to hell-- and how Phantom is still visibly keeping his distance from the sparks coming off of Jason. There’s just building rage in Bruce as he’s putting together the parental negligence and trauma. He wants to grill the two kids about their parents (why do they have all of these ghost hunting weapons when their kid is some sort of ghost?? WHY is their kid some sort of ghost???), but now he’s faced with a teenaged girl trying to convince him to go through a mysterious ghost portal to bring his kid to some strange ghost doctor.
Jason is leery as can be of the portal (it Looks a bit too like the Lazarus Pit, and it definitely feels like death), but this girl-- Jazz-- doesn’t seem afraid of going through the portal and is making it very clear she’ll just go into this “Ghost Zone” without them and grab this doctor if she has to. The thought of the girl diving through the portal by herself (and the sparks still flying off of him, making a mess of the lab equipment), is enough incentive to get Jason to go with.
Transporting Jason is... problematic, though. He would absolutely destroy the Specter Speeder if he rides in it. They eventually settle on Danny dragging Jason through the zone by a line (wearing a giant pair of rubber gloves on top of his gloves because he is not playing around).
By the time they get to the Far Frozen, the situation is sort of... solving itself? Being in the Ghost Zone has filtered out the last of the Pit's gunk from Jason and his malformed core is settling down now that it doesn't have good ectoplasm competing with sludge. He still doesn't really have control over the electricity, and feels a bit overwhelmed with energy, but it's no longer firing on all cinders.
Frostbite's pretty bothered by meeting Jason. He recognizes him as something similar to Danny (Bruce isn't going to let the "Great One" nicknamed Phantom has slide also; hoo boy that's another for the Giant List), but... Off. He has a core but it's-- small. Delicate. It was dormant until he entered Amity, and even now it doesn't really have the power or even shape a normal ghost core should.
Frostbite is able to help with the electricity, at least, by just explaining that now that his core has formed (in what capacity it can) Jason has to be careful about pent up energy to avoid it striking out. That the electricity feeds easily off of available energy and, especially if his emotions are high, will lash out if it overflows. He has Jason let out a lot of energy in a secluded space and it feels immensely cathartic.
Jason is still not allowed into the Specter Speeder on the way back to FentonWorks.
Returning to FentonWorks (with Jason's condition stabilized after his GZ spa cleanse) opens the door for a very careful interrogation of the Fenton siblings. Each answer or non-answer they give is more concerning than the last. The straw that breaks the camel's back is learning that the portal itself killed Danny and that his parents are not in any way aware he's (half) dead because of the ever-real risk his parents will hurt him if they find out.
They haven’t even mentioned Vlad. There’s still so much.
Bruce is already mentally signing the adoption papers. Tim and Jason have accepted they're getting two new siblings and are warning the family (and Jason's planning to be as careful as he can with these new powers so he doesn't freak Danny out because knowing Why it was freaking Danny out has him wanting to wear his own pair of rubber gloves and strangle their parents with them).
Danny is just a little shellshocked that these people are nicer than he thought and are willing to help him and not make his life worse.
Also notes: Jason wouldn't have a full roster of halfa abilities. No secondary form (though the white hair tuft prob glows more, and his eyes turn green more often), probably no true flight, and no ectoblasts. He mostly gets a grasp on the electricity and intangibility, and can use invisibility sparingly. The pranks he and Danny (and later Dani) get up to are the stuff of legend.

Bnha x dp Headcanons:
Danny absolutely loves to spend time with Tokoyami because he just gets his dead jokes and dark humour (and reminds him of Sam who he misses)
When he takes the entrance exam he's overwhelmed with the need to protect everyone even though he's 80% sure UA wouldn't actually put them in any real danger. His obsession doesn't understand that though.
Midoriya has a field day learning about his 'quirk' and when he's finally revealed to be half dead he has a million questions about ghosts and the zone, Danny really enjoys talking about it because his parents don't listen and he is a scientist too damn it.
He bonds with Todoroki almost immediately because he knows what it's like to hate his power (ghostly wail) and he knows what it's like to not want to end up like someone. He ends up also bonding over some trauma about their home life later on.
He helps Uraraka with the nausea she gets because he's been there.
Eri reminds him of Dani and it caused him to have a breakdown when he was alone, he begged Clockwork to let him go home to see her.
During the first part of the sports festival he could have just created a portal or telported to the finish but he wanted to watch everyone so he flew over them and finished 4th.
Bakugou absolutely hates Danny because there's just something off about him that only HE is seeing apparently, he can feel him holding back in every fight and Bakugou can't help but get pissed off at that. When Danny's halfa status is revealed he loses most animosity he has towards him. (Because ofc Danny was holding back he's op as fuck)
Aizawa hates that his quirk doesn't get rid of any of Danny's and he hates how Danny is the type of hero to sacrifice himself to save the people he's saving (he has his hands full with Midoriya) when it comes up Danny had actually died he feels his blood run cold and Oboro flashes in his head.
When Danny started joking and doing quips in fights he gets mixed reactions but because he does them everyone enjoys watching. (Bakugou took that as a sign he wasn't trying hard enough)
Danny has chronic pain in his arm that touched the portal and has a glowing green lichtenberg figure that runs up to his shoulder. Sometimes he can still feel the electricity and it can send him into a panic attack.
^Kaminari makes an effort to never touch Danny after he found out about that, which makes Danny feel horrible because he knows how touchy the blonde is.
He sometimes just goes to Koda and sits with him in silence because his senses are getting overwhelmed and he has animals he can pet.
When Sato or Bakugou cooked for him the first time he made an off hand remark about how he's glad it didn't come to life and it made everyone freeze.
Mirio is in awe of how Danny can keep his senses and clothes when he's intangible and it made Danny realise how lucky he was. When he made Mirio intangible by touching him it made his day and then multiple people asked him if they can try it.
^He also gets asked if he can make them fly and invisible so they can experience it too.
Danny can make Hagakure visible because double invisibility evens out (idk just think it'll be fun), they tired it because Midoriya was curious of what would happen and it made Hagakure cry.

Two Kings and a Heir
Ghost king Nico Di Angelo meets Ghost king Danny Fenton who meets Damain Wayne after some how being launched in to the dc univers ( Nico and Danny that is)
Danny needed a safe place as his univers is nolonger ( reaveal gone wrong)
Nico isn't sure how he got into the dc universe but he's knows that he's not in his new work any more ( takes place before the trils of Apollo)
Because ghost work diifertly in the dc universe Danny would have relearn how to use his powers: ie control over his ice core, intangibility, invisibility, ghostly wail, eco blast ect. His ghost sense is going haywire, half going off. There's no puff of mist leaving his mouth, but is has his entire body tense. Danny learns quickly that the ghost of this world works differently, no one but him can see them, and even then it's hard for him the see them half the time. ( it's just a slivery after image in hisn periphery but they disappear when he tries to look at them head on.)
Hunger still affects Danny, not as much as before the accident, but he's still half human and he still need to eat. Something cheep and greasy. There were no nasty burger here, just a place called bat burger where he clocks an nother kid around his age as being something more then a laminar but close to a halfa like him, developing core maybe?
Nico new that he wasn't in New York anymore when he woke up, and he's quick to learn that he's in jersey, in a city call gotham. A place that didn't exist before. he's half scared that he was placed in the lotus casino again, he knows that's impossable. but the fear lingers. ( it happens once but who's to say that it won't happen again?) Nico needed information, he don't know where he is, when he is , so he plans to summon a ghost. But first he needs a happy meal.
The clost thing to a mc' Donald's is a place called bat burger. There Nico meets Danny, and they both clock each other as pooled who has an extremely association with death, and the underworld. Another child of hades? Maybe.
Silent communication passed he tween the two of them. The cashier clears her throat, and Danny orders first before stepping to the side and lingering awkwardly behind the other boy as he places his order, a kids meal. The kid walks to a booth at the back, one shrouded in shadows. Danny is half compiled to follow, every time he meets a halfa they tried to kill him first and get to know him second. But so far this was going great. He joins the kid at the booth.
Silence lingers between then the boy stared out the window at the few passing cars, Danny decided to pick at napickn, a black stylized bat decorated the corner. How was she supposed to go about this with out fist flying? He's not at his strongest at the moment. He's been doing good so far at ignoring the ach of the vivisection wound. Hastily stitched half healed, sleeping and eating would heald the thing faster, he just need a place to sleep, and stock up kn canned food and granola bars. Maybe he could break into one of the abandon buildings.
" Nico." The boys said suddenly.
Um
What?
Name, name, names. That was his name. He should-
" Danny! Yeah... call me Danny."
This was a good start, names are good. It doesn't matter that he's on the sudden verg of panic, or that he was getting a migraine from the constant half use of his ghost sense.
" son of hades?" Nico asked tentatively as I'd he was sharing a secret.
" what? No my dad isn't-"
" Hecate then, she's your mother right? Your too old not to know who your godly parent is, and you can't be unclaimed." Nico said in a rapid wishper, his eyes darting around the room as if expecting someone to attack.
" No wait, dude calm down, I think I know what's going on." But before he could answer they were called to get food. Looking over his shoulder the cashier looked unimpressed. Right food, the original reason why he's here.
Part two later

DCXDP prompt
Ok, so there's plenty of Danny laying low or freaking out about the no meta rule, but I have this CRAVING of someone for once just explaining it to him? Like whoever bird or birds he's talking to just leans in and whispers "Wanna know a secret? That's mostly just a mind control precaution. I mean would you want to see Supes jacked up on fear gas? If the league do come over he prefers to be called first so he's close if something happens."
Danny- "Oh... yeah that makes sense actually, that shit isn't fun to be under.."
"Wait is THAT why you have that string of robberies on your record?!"
"That and the time my whole town got possessed in order to make me look bad and get arrested.."
The bird then drags Danny into the cave to open Bruce's file on him, and they both sit down and fill in the gaps on the shadier spots of his record. Heck Danny eventually gives Bats a few thermoses and other less harmful but still disabling device blueprints to add to the contingency file cause even if Dan is in therapy and on probation he knows his shit luck will probably make it needed sooner rather than later and he knows how fast it will go bad.
It comes in very handy at the next gala when Vlad attempts to have a duplicate overshadow Bruce who refuses to take his business propositions. Vlad gets nosey before Danny pulls up his king rights and makes vlad take an Oath (the magic binding kind) to not mess with Bruce or his family or reveal any of their super identities to anyone at all. Constantine is there beforehand to read over the contract and outthink any loopholes before vlad can take advantage of them.
Danny gives them samples of ecto-dejecto for medical emergencies, the Bat's keep them refreshed and in stock especally after they meet Ellie and hear about her stability problems. With help from Frostbite and Danny's ok they start working on a more reliable formula just for Ellie's sake.
Yes Jason is calmer around the halfas and he is slowly stabilizing enough form a proper core from it, (not an instant fix this time!) whether hes becoming a true halfa, more towards a remnant, or both they arent sure. But one night when the phantoms arent around Jason is having a bad time, reacting from something he was hit with during a fight. Tim just grabs one of the ecto-pens on a whim and it just flushes out the toxin so fast Jay passes out. When he wakes up his core has had a good growth spurt, its still not complete yet but he's beginning to get some minor abilities, the Phantom sibs start coaching him before it gets strong enough for Jason to turn completely intangible and if Jay starts complaining? Clockwork whisks them ALL up to the tower for a home movie night of Danny's greatest fails. Grampa has a collection, good and bad XD. Yes Danny is cringing in shame while eating Clockwork's ecto cookies but Jason is slowly starting to understand the importance of getting the basics right cause he does NOT want to accidentally sink completely under the ground without being able to get back out no thank you!!
What core type would he get anyway? Shadow's like Johnny because of the stealth perks? Earth to prevent being buried again? Would he have literature as a secondary obsession cause obviously he's gonna follow Danny into the family/protection category but since Danny also has a space obsession why not?
He puts Jazz's name in the list of superhero safe therapists, the fact she's already making waves at Arkam is only boosting her reputation. Especially once they read her paper on ghost obsessions and how sometimes they are comparable to hyper-fixations in autistics in the way they both satisfy and promote healthy growth for a ghosts physical and mental state but also how being deprived of them or forced to go against them can be severely harmful to their literal health.
And that was one thing the birds kept tripping on to understand whenever they needed to bench one of the halfas but they would end up just hovering around NEEDING to be helpful no mater how much they are told to go back to bed. They also get a whole new understanding on what happened to Dan cause yeah his whole timeline is based on loosing his family and retaliating out of grief.
So from then on the halfas are allowed to help with little tasks as long as they do not strain their recovery at all. Whenever Danny gets sickly and depressed they take him up to the watch tower, Ellie gets lessons in different languages so she can interact more when they let her join them on international trips, Jason gets set loose in a newly discovered bookstore when the manor's or Bab's library isn't enough, and Dan.. they're still figuring him out but he seems to enjoy wrecking little play city set ups and games where you play as the monster like Godzilla or Rampage along with general ghost sibling rough housing. (Lilo and Stitch is his favorite movie but you'd be hard pressed to get him to admit it,)
As for ships, definitely anger management. Jason becomes an unofficial fourth Phantom sib. Platonic everlasting trio cause Danny loves his friends and they will pet him like a cat for hours while his tail coils around them possessively like a giant snake and still make memes of it when he's grumpy. Brain dead is fun also, especially if Danny or the others are capable of Little Baby Man form and Tim has to fight Damian for cuddle rights! Bats has his usual girls but hey superman isn't that bad to hang around either.

BNHA x DP crossover
Why do I feel like in every BNHA/DP crossover fic that I’ve read no one seems to be inclined to give Danny a believable cover story for his powers, when a really easy one popped into my head the first time I ever thought of it.
Quirk: Archetypal Ghost
This Quirk gives the individual the potential to develop any ability that is/was correlated to Ghosts in mythology, folklore, and pop culture (with in the human collective conscious).
Why can Danny produce ice? Because ghosts cause cold spots everyone knows that. Why can Danny affect radio waves and cause tech to glitch out? Because ghosts can affect radio waves and cause tech to glitch out. Why can Danny be invisible, intangible, and fly? Because ghosts do those things.
And just on and on for every single one of his powers.
There’s not a single one of of his innumerable abilities that doesn’t fall under the category of “It happened at one point in mythology/folklore/pop culture and has since been adopted as a Ghost thing by the collective conscious”.
Even his more unique and obscure powers like Ghostly Wail, Dream Walking, and Entering forms of media, fall under this explanation. Because Banshees, the idea of spirits of the dead communicating via dream, and the movie The Ring, are all ideas that have existed for more than 200 years by the time BNHA starts, and are firmly entrenched in the collective conscious by the time the story starts.
So yeah, don’t know if writers are intentionally going with “Danny doesn’t know how to explain how all of his many superpowers are just one highly versatile super power (even though the boy is the most generic ghost to ever ghost when it comes to powers)” on purpose. Or if they just don’t want to come up with a proper Quirk name and description for Danny’s halfa status.
Using this method you could even write a fully blown “Danny was Reincarnated into the BNHA world, and his Quirk ended up just being his powers from his previous life in the form of a Quirk” story. Instead of just, “Danny ends up in BNHA world due to Ghost Zone shenanigans and/or ghostly meddling of some sort, but ends up going back to his original world at the end” type of stories.
Danny would actually have to stay in BNHA world and deal with their form of crazy. Instead of just getting mentored for a while, getting to build a support structure of adults who somewhat understand what he’s going through, and then dip before the absolutely mental shit starts to happen.
Also in the Reincarnation stories, at least there’d be a reason as to why and how Quirk-effecting-Quirks would work on Danny’s ghost powers. Because it doesn’t make any sense at all in cross-dimension Danny stories for Aizawa’s Eraser Quirk, or Monoma’s Copy Quirk to work on Danny’s powers at all.
He doesn’t have a Quirk in those types of stories, so there shouldn’t be anything for Aizawa to erase, or for Monoma to copy. He’s half ghost in those stories. No Quirk/quirk factor for them to interface with.
Aizawa and Monoma (and AFO) being able to mess with Danny’s powers when he’s from another dimension and doesn’t have a Quirk, is like if Superman was dumped into BNHA and they were able to affect his powers. Really lazy writing.
And when fic writers make Aizawa/Monoma/AFO able to mess with Danny’s powers, they don’t even bother to try and make it make sense. They don’t make Quirks be caused by this entire dimension having a much higher concentration of ectoplasm and the result of extremely high numbers of human/animal liminality. Which would be an extremely easy way to make it make sense, and it’s right there.
Also in reincarnated Danny fics, you could actually just make Danny AFO’s literal son, instead of just being mistaken for his son by the people who know about AFO. Which would be hilarious. Because Danny’s got an entire past life of dunking on villains who think they have the right to be his father due to power set similarity.

DP AU where ghosts are invisible to non-ghosts by default:
Ghosts still can be visible, but it's an active power like how invisibility is in canon, and other ghosts can still see them when invisible, so most don't really see a point to it.
Halfas are always at least slightly visible, even in ghost form. When switching forms, they retain the same level of visibility.
All ghosts, halfa or otherwise, are entirely intangible, except to other ghosts. Most can switch to full tangibility at will.
This has certain consequences:
Since Danny can be seen by ghosts, and partially seen by humans, there's little to no tactical advantage to being "invisible".
In most cases, Phantom is the only ghost seen fighting, and is therefore blamed for almost all of the property damage by ghosts (even if he wasn't present).
Most people aren't entirely sure Phantom is a ghost, despite the name. After all, he claims to be fighting ghosts, but can't or won't explain why people can see him and not the rest. Since he's the only "ghost" most people have seen, there's no concrete evidence that ghosts exist.
Phantom having a secret identity is public knowledge. There's not really a strong investigation (just the local police), since he's mostly regarded as a non-violent vandal.
It's way harder for him to get to the scene of a fight. What with the lack of ghost awareness, his only alert systems are his ghost sense and word of mouth that "something weird is going on" or "that Phantom guy is up to something again".
As an added bonus, Danny gets in a lot more trouble for skipping class (not that he didn’t get in a lot before), because there's no panic over ghost attacks until Phantom shows up, and it's minimal even then.
The Fentons still believe in ghosts, but they're not considered to be reputable. They think Phantom is a special kind of ghost, and that he's some sort of leader to them. (They're not entirely wrong on the first, and the second is somewhat true later on if Danny becomes the Ghost King.)
The GIW have no reason to exist, at least not as a "government organization". If they do exist, it's as a large-scale group of "paranormal investigators".
Valerie blaming Phantom for her father's demotion makes way more sense, since Cujo was invisible the whole time. There's more of a backlash against the Huntress, because she's more of a standard vigilante. Her weapons are mostly designed to work on humans, but some of them work on halfas, too. (Vlad couldn't give her weapons that only worked on full ghosts, because she was bound to use them on "criminals" besides Phantom.) She still calls Phantom "ghost", but it's less of a dehumanizing identifier, and more of an effort to intentionally get his name wrong. Danny may or may not think this means she believes in ghosts.
The Phanclub is much smaller, and mostly consists of "Phantom believers" who trust that Phantom is telling the truth about ghosts, and that he really is protecting Amity Park. A minority of Phans think he really is responsible for at least some of the property damage, but forgive/respect him for one reason or another. Sam and Tuck pretend to be part of this group, Sam because "he's calling attention to the poor construction and maintenance of public and commercial infrastructure", and Tuck because "you've gotta respect a guy who occasionally gets school canceled and blames it on ghosts. absolute legend." Wes is perma-banned from the club for repeated attempts to convince its members that Phantom is really Danny Fenton, the kid who skips half his classes to go to the bathroom and couldn't knock down a wall if he had a wrecking ball, let alone finger lasers. Danny himself could only be caught dead at a Phanclub meeting, because his parents would kill him if he were found supporting a ghost.
Feel free to ask me more if I missed something, but as of right now, I think this post is long enough already. XD

I just had an idea!
Danny is already an incredibly powerful individual, even if you just include the base skills of invisibility, intangibility, ectoblasts, shields and healing. Add the wail and core and everything else, he is majorly overpowered. So is his rouges though. BUT! What would happen if he also happens to be a meta as well. Like ok in the DC universe some humans have a gene called the meta gene which activates when someone with the gene goes through extraordinary physical and emotional stress. The gene then activates a process that allows the body to use whatever caused the stress , such as chemicals or RADIATION, to change the GENETIC makeup of the individual. This can be used two ways in a fanfic:
Danny has the meta gene and THAT is what allowed him to survive the accident somewhat, making halfas even more rare as the meta gene has to be present for someone to survive.
The accident did NOT activate the gene but something ELSE did. Boy has ghost powers and something new to deal with. People assume that all the ghost powers are because of meta gene.
The previous options can lead to many things
Something prompting someone to check his dna and finding not only the gene but that it is also active (can that be seen in a dna test? I assume so because of people knowing that they are carriers then again that may be shown differently) thus telling them he does in fact have powers.
Danny being outed as phantom and a debate starts on whether or not he is protected by being a meta or because he produces his own ectoplasm he is not human and can be captured and experimented on by the GIW because of the antiecto acts. Also is it a federal vs state law situation? Is GIW actually a government agency? Bonus: is Danny free or currently being experimented on? Does the GIW even honor the results if it’s decided he’s meta human? EXTRA Bonus: debate actually starts because GIW experimentation either tests show Danny is actually a meta human and someone within tips off the heroes or heroes find him because of something else and they find he has meta gene and fights on his behalf
Either Danny is outed to someone or to everyone and that leads to people realizing that for the gene to activate something BAD had to have happened to him. Cue investigations.
And lastly, Danny is outed to everyone and everyone begrudgingly has the admit that Wes was actually somewhat right. If the accident didn’t activate the gene and it was something else that did, Wes is going to be going crazy! He has people telling him that yes he’s right about Danny being phantom but no that he’s wrong and Danny is not actually dead. Does he actually know that Danny is in fact dead and the gene thing is new or does he question what he thought he knew?!? lol
Hope you don’t mind if I tag you @wolfeyedwitch I see you like DC/DP stuff and I wouldn’t mind seeing your thoughts.

Like Betta Fish Do - Part 15
Masterpost of ao3 link and all parts.
WC: 4225 (Ch 12 when on ao3: Chs 1-10/Parts 1-12 are there already and are better than here btw.)
“The ghosts’ King?”
Danny hummed in agreement and placed one of the trays of food on Jason’s lap.
“Seriously, you’re a king?”
“Mostly. Now eat you Pho.”
Jason did as he was told.
He shot Danny purposeful looks throughout dinner, but Danny refused to give. He kept his attention fully on the TV even though Jason knew that Danny was incapable of keeping his full attention on any show— much less one they were only watching for Jason’s sake. When the food was gone and the trash had been thrown away, Jason leaned over and paused the show. He figured that Danny was out of excuses.
Danny was still hovering in the doorway between the kitchen and living space, refusing to look at Jason. It made Jason sigh. He pulled himself off the couch, wincing slightly at the cuts on his feet. Now that he was clean and full the minor hurts he’d gotten from the episode bit at him, but he pushed the matter aside as he walked over.
Gently, Jason cradled Danny’s face. The wrapping around his split knuckles felt rough against the soft skin, but Jason simply soothed the path with his thumb.
“Danny.”
The sigh Danny let out was impressively resigned. “I didn’t mean to tell you about the king thing yet. I just didn’t want you to worry about hurting me.”
Jason hummed softly. “But it’s true?”
“Mostly.”
“You’ve said. That doesn’t explain anything, fish.”
Danny just closed his eyes at another brush of Jason’s thumb.
“Fish… I can’t say this won’t change how I think about you, because it feels like every time we meet you’re telling me things that shake me world view, but it’s not going to scare me away. Danny, you’re…,” Jason had to pause to swallow thickly. “You’re here. You saw me in a Pit Rage where I tried to scare you away and you’re still here. You’re here and… and you’re not flinching when I touch you.”
Bright aqua flashed as Danny’s eyes flicked open, intense in their severity. “I told you, I trust you.”
“Then trust that this won’t scare me away, just like I didn’t scare you away.”
Danny sighed and caught Jason’s hand. Instead of pulling it away, though, Danny just twined their fingers together and rested his cheek on them. “So, yeah. Ghost King.”
“Mostly,” Jason said, teasing a little. It worked to pull a slight smile out of Danny.
“Mostly. I can’t take the crown fully until I’m done living. As halfas we’re constantly in change and flux in a way that full ghosts aren’t. There are also some concerns the power that come with the trappings of royalty would be too much for my human half. So right now I’m seen as… too turbulent, basically, to be fully in charge. That means the monarchy is a regency under my council. I’m king in name, but I’m more of a princling right now.”
Jason nodded slowly, absorbing all of that information. It left him with a hundred questions: how did the ghost court work, who made up the council, what were the trappings? As with every conversation with Danny these days there were more questions than answers. He went for the one he felt the need to know most. “How were you chosen to be king?”
“Would you believe right of succession through combat?” Danny asked with a wounded smile.
“Fuck.”
“Yeah. Yeah, fuck about sums it up.” Danny said. “So I can hold my own. Even if you end up a really strong ghost, you’re not there yet. I don’t think you’re even strong enough right now to land a hit if I went intangible.”
“Right, intangible.” He’d forgotten that was a thing. “You went right through the door after—”
“Ghost stuff,” Danny cut Jason off. “I’ll teach you once your develops. Invisibility, intangibility, and flight are all really basic ghost stuff.”
“And then there’s the not so basic stuff like the core powers?”
“Mhum. And whatever else you might get. I picked up a lot of things from fighting my rogues.”
Jason jerked back in surprise. “Your what?”
“My rogues. That’s what you all call them here, right? The villains or nemesis or anti-heroes or whatever that fight the Bats.”
Danny had rogues. Jason closed his eyes and took a deep breath. If he hadn’t worn himself out already he would have been terrified of the green surging up. “Fish— Danny, are you a hero?”
“Officially retired,” Danny said. “Being King helped solve a lot of issues. And it turns out a lot of them just wanted to brawl so I’ve scheduled times for the ones not actually out to hurt any one. And I’ve destroyed the portal and most ghosts can’t make their own.”
“But you were a hero,” Jason choked out.
“Yep. The portal gave a way to get ghosts through and someone had to do something. My friend Sam convinced me of that— Jason, are you okay?”
Jason forced through a breath. “I’m fine, fish.”
That was a lie, but how could he explain it? How could he explain the knife that was twisted in his gut at the idea that Danny had died and been forced to become a hero. He couldn’t without revealing a lot of secrets that weren’t his to share.
“Just hate thinking of you in danger.”
“It’s— I’m fine. I mean, it sucked, a lot, but I’m fine. A lot of them weren’t that bad. Like Boxy’s whole thing is about wanting to amass boxes. He’s a nuance but not really a threat,” Danny rambled as he fiddled idly with Jason’s wrapped knuckles. “He’s really calmed down too since he married Lunch Lady who, yeah, went a little overboard with things but mostly just want’s to feed people. Their daughter Box Lunch is just the cutest little blob too.”
“Wait.” Jason squinted his eyes open at that. “Ghosts can have children? How does that even work?”
Danny grinned. “Well you see when one ghosts loves another ghost very much—”
“Fish.”
“Okay, sorry. I mean not sorry, your face was too great, but sorta sorry. Um, let’s talk ectoplasm and Ancients. It’s— all of it is a whole thing. Come one, I’ve got some candy in my bag we can open,” Danny said, dragging Jason back over to the couch.
Jason let himself be pushed down to sit and have his feet propped back up. Really, Jason just wanted to pull Danny close and make sure he was alright and go kick the ghost tails of whoever left scars on Danny, but this didn’t see to be the night for it. Right now, Danny wanted to look out for Jason, so he’d let him. There would be time for the other stories later— maybe once Jason could explain why it impacted him so much.
For right now there was candy to eat and ghost biology to learn about. Because apparently not every ghost was alive once— and wasn’t that, as Danny said, ‘a whole thing’.
-
“Are you sure that you’re okay to do this?” Danny asked. Again.
It had only been two days since Jason had come out of the Pit Rage. Danny had stayed through the night and most of the next day. Finishing ‘The Lizzie Bennet Diaries’ was the excuse (and it was pretty good for a ‘Pride and Prejudice’ adaptation), but Danny knew that Jason knew it was a weak excuse. Still, Jason let it slide and didn’t try to push Danny away again.
It was after a very late lunch that Danny made himself leave. He didn’t want to push his luck or make Jason feel trapped; he didn’t want to give Jason a reason to lash out like that again. As much as Danny understood that Jason was doing it out of fear and that Jason couldn’t seriously hurt him, it didn’t change the fact that Jason was a little terrifying in that moment. Worse than the spike of fear that had run through Danny was knowing that Jason was terrified of himself. And so to try and fix that they were walking in, substantially after hours, to a gym that Jason knew. Danny would prove to Jason that the other didn’t have to be afraid of hurting him.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the Mr. Wayne,” the brick house of a man who was tidying up behind a small reception desk quipped.
Wait. Wayne? Danny’s gaze flickered between the two.
Seriously?
“Fuck you for making me sound like a smarmy creep by saying this,” Jason shot back without any heat, “but Mr. Wayne is my father. Seriously, there’s one the Mr. Wayne and it sure as fuck will never be me. Tim and Damian can duke it out over the that title when the old man goes.”
Oh fuck, seriously a Wayne.
The brick house clutched a dramatic hand to his chest. “I don’t know man, you don’t write, you don’t call, whatsa man to think but you moved up in the world? Gotten too good for little ‘o Sal’s.”
“No one in your family was ever named Sal, Joel, so fuck off.”
Jason was a Wayne. Tucker could never get wind of this.
“That’s between you and me, bub.”
“And half the clientèle that’s known you since you were in diapers.”
“Eh— same diff,” Joel said, shoving a folder file into a gym bag. “Gym is all yours, Mandy’s already gone. Be sure to lock up after yourself and clean up any mess you make.”
“Will do, Joel. Thanks.”
“Sure, Jason,” Joel said, heading for the door. He turned around at the last moment and give them a smirk and a sloppy salute. “And no having sex on the mats!”
“Joel!”
Danny knew he was blushing, but he bet it wasn’t as bad as Jason’s bright red cheeks.
“I’d apologize for him, but that’s just the way he is. He’s good people though, let’s me use this place after hours so I can exercise in peace… why are you staring at me like that?
Danny made himself blink. “You’re Jason Wayne.”
Between Tucker’s love for technology, Sam’s connection to the rich elite, and Vlad’s jealous Danny knew more than he wanted to about the Waynes. Just apparently not actually enough.
A frown tugged at Jason’s mouth. “You still hadn’t put it together. Shit. I get that I’m not in the spotlight as much as Tim or even Damian but— will this, I mean…”
“Won’t change a thing,” Danny was quick to assure Jason. “One of my best friend’s family is rich and the guy who’s, like, technically my godfather is rich too. I’m just surprised? You don’t exactly—”
Danny paused, one hand frozen in waving reassuringly as the rest of what Danny knew about Jason Wayne snapped into place. “Oh, fuck. You really did die, didn’t you? I mean, duh, I know you died, but Jason Wayne really died. That’s what you meant about cover story when we first met. Ancients, I am such an idiot! No wonder you thought I’d know you.”
“It was kinda endearing that you didn’t,” Jason said with a little shrug. “And I’m not the most recognizable Wayne.”
Danny’s eyes flicked obviously up to the white tuft in Jason’s hair.
Jason just shrugged again.
How did he keep ending up knowing rich people. Was he just cursed somehow? “Right. Okay. Promise, this won’t change things. I just needed a moment to re-compartmentalize you.”
‘Re-compartmentalize’, Jason mouthed.
Danny just sighed. “Shut up, my sister is a shrink— shrink in training I guess. You live with her long enough and you pick up on things.”
“Okay, sure. Can we stretch while you re-compartmentalize my existence?” Jason teased as he locked the front door.
“Yes we can stretch, dead boy.” Danny had to pause again. “Um, is Gotham going to draw and quarter me for calling you dead boy?”
“Maybe, but don’t change,” Jason said, leading them into the gym proper. “It’s…”
“Good to have someone who doesn’t make a big deal out of your death?” Danny offered when Jason fell silent.
“Yeah.”
Danny got that. As thankful as he was for Sam, Tucker, and Jazz, none of them actually got how was best for him to deal with his death. Sometimes you needed to joke about it. “Your family knows then, that you really died?”
Jason nodded.
“How do they think you’re back?”
“It’s Gotham, fucked up shit happens,” Jason said. His voice caught in that way that Danny had come to learn meant Jason was struggling with the topic.
Danny let it drop. “Okay.”
He followed Jason through the stretches. He still didn’t really think he needed to stretch, but even Pandora insisted on them and she was dead, so he behaved and worked through the motions. It did, at least, work out some of the kinks from being hunched too long over his laptop and textbooks.
When Jason finally asked ‘how do you want to do this’, he sounded normal again and the last bit of tension Danny was holding drained away.
He answered with a smirk.
“Well,” Danny drawled. “I can’t show you all of what I do, since it would be too destructive. But I figure we just start sparing and I’ll ramp up until you get the point.
“And what aren’t you showing me?” Jason asked, shaking out his arms.
Danny paused, having to think about that. “Ghostly wail. Pyrokinesis, electrokinesis… though cryokinesis should be fine if I’m careful. None of the ghost ray or ectoblast stuff. No overshadowing… I don’t… I only do that if I don’t have any other choice.
“That’s… quite the list, fish,” Jason said. He looked a little startled when Danny glanced his way.
“It’s like I said,” Danny said. He was trying hard not to be nervous about this. “I’m strong. I wasn’t kidding when I said that. So, you know…”
Danny took a breath and let the rings of light wash over him. He didn’t need to say it any more, but ‘going ghost’ still ran through his head out of habit. He let gravity’s control slip away and floated just a few inches above the floor.
Another breath. He fixed his glowing green gaze on Jason. “Come at me.”
Jason lunged.
Danny flung up a shield, grinning as Jason’s punch bounced harmlessly off of it.
“Too scared to let me get close?”
Danny laughed. “You know what they say, the best offense is a good defense?”
“Other way around, actually,” Jason mocked. “Can you actually throw a punch.”
“Oh I can punch,” Danny said. The shield flickered away with a wave of his hand and a grin stretched over his face. He wiggled the fingers of his outstretched hand, green flickering around them. “But can you catch?”
The hand flicked sharply forward.
Jason had just a moment to look confused before he was ducking the weight that Danny had flung off of the rack from across the room.
-
Alright, so Jason could accept that maybe he underestimated Danny a little, but this was still manageable. Telekinesis and barriers were pretty standard powers. He dodged another dumbbell, rolling through the motion to spring up in range of Danny.
Or Dannies.
Because now there were three of them standing there, arms crossed, and smirking at him.
That was… well, it was a sight for sure.
Jason cleared his throat. “So, that’s quite a power you have. Illusions?”
“I don’t know,” the middle Danny said.
The one on the right shrugged. “Not a clue. What do you think?”
The way the left one grinned was feral. “I think he’ll need to figure that out.”
“Sounds good to me,” Jason said. He shifted a half step back— just far enough. He caught his toe under the bar of one of the dumbbells. As he kicked it up he twisted, catching the bar and continuing into his twist to fling it at the Danny on the left.
Who caught it.
Fuck.
“Oh, look at that,” the Danny said, studying the dumbbell before smirking up at Jason from under his bangs. “Guess we are solid after all.”
Well, fuck indeed.
The Danny on the right shifted, warping like a shimmering mirage. “And that’s not all we can do.”
The rippling became more intense before the duplicate’s whole form shifted. Suddenly a massive black and white wolf with glowing eyes leapt at Jason. He let himself fall, leaning into the drop only to push off and dart forward. He caught the dumbbell being thrown back his way and sent it towards the wolf.
He stepped low, pushing off the ground to dart towards the middle Danny— the Danny he was pretty sure was the real one.
Two steps in and suddenly he lost his footing, sliding on a now ice slick floor— forward and right through the intangible cold spot that was Danny’s body. Jason was barely past when Danny turned solid, grabbed Jason’s wrist, and twisted.
Jason was seeing the ceiling as he was flipped up and over Danny’s hip. His breath was knocked from his lungs as he landed hard on his back. He tried to push through the momentum, but Danny twisted faster. Knees landed on either side of Jason’s hips and hands wrapped around Jason’s wrists. Frigid cold spread through him as his hands were iced to the mat.
The other Dannies popped out of existence as the real one loomed further over Jason.
Jason swallowed heavily. “Well, I guess you do have some tricks up your sleeves.”
“Mmmhumm.” The smirk had somehow gotten even more feral.
“The more you show me, the more I’ll learn and the easier you get to fight.”
“Sure, dead boy,” Danny dismissed with a roll of his eyes. He shifted, settling to sit on Jason’s stomach. “But I think I still proved my point. And that’s without anything actually dangerous. If I wanted to down you, I could down you.”
“Think you managed to put me down pretty well tonight,” Jason rasped. He tried (and failed) to not think too hard about how Danny was sat on top of him like that.
Danny snorted. “You know what I mean.”
“Yeah, I do,” Jason said. “I still… I get it, but I still don’t know if I’ll… if I can have you around next time without panicking, but I get I can’t hurt you.”
“Okay. And my promise holds, I’ll leave if you tell me to. Just,” Danny leaned forward, resting his forehead against Jason’s with a soft thunk. “I just ask that you consider letting me stay, so that you don’t have to go through that alone. I just want you to try.”
“I’ll try. For you fish, I’ll try.”
“Okay.”
“Okay. Now let me up, I want to go another round.”
“Your funeral.” Danny rolled fluidly off Jason before he paused, smiling down at him. “Oh wait. Been there, done that, right?”
Jason couldn’t help the bark of laughter that ripped out of him.
He wasn’t sure he had ever laughed so soon after a Pit episode.
-
“Oracle,” Dick started, activating his comm when there was a lull in the chatter. Batman might not like the chatter, but even he knew there was no stopping it. Besides, the Big Bat wasn’t even on tonight— Brucie duty called. “Has Hood checked in tonight?”
“No, but you know that he still doesn’t always ping when he’s out.”
Dick hummed softly through a frown.
“What is it?” Tim asked.
“Just, it’s been a few days since I’ve heard anything about him being active.”
“That isn’t unusually,” Babs pointed out, ever the voice of reason.
“Yeah, sure. But he missed a meal with Red and me too.”
“That also isn’t unusual,” Tim pointed out.
Dick sighed. Why didn’t anyone get it. “But all together?”
At least the silence felt a little more considering than judging.
“I think I’ll just swing by his place real quick, get eyes on him,” Dick said, twisting midair to change the direction of his flight. He silenced his comms again from his side, letting Oracle lead the Bats and Birds where she needed them. It wasn’t a busy night, at least, so Dick didn’t feel bad about taking a sidestop to check on his little wing.
He wanted to think that it was nothing— that Red Hood had just been quiet or, less likely, Jason was just taking some time for himself, but something was bothering Dick. It wasn’t one solid thing that was making Dick nervous. The bathbomb thing had been weird, but apparently it had been a case of mistaken identity for a joke. Which was odd, but it was Crime Alley. Finding Jason sick had bothered Dick more than it should have, but the other recovered easily enough. It was just that also… Jason had seemed a little different.
It was a good different! Jason has been thinking about going back to school. He had even been meeting up with parts of the family more casually and often. Dick didn’t want to be concerned about things like that, but something in his gut told him there was more going on. And as a Bat trained Bird, he couldn’t ignore his gut.
He landed, silently, on the roof top across from Jason’s as he caught the other stepping into the building.
“Well,” Dick said, turning back on his mic once he had settled into the shadows. “Seems Jason went to the gym.”
“Like Hood isn’t swole enough,” Steph chimed in. There was a heavy grunt from her end of the comms. Guess she caught up with the robber.
“Nothing weird about training,” Tim said. “I believe that he’s said there’s some gym he uses after hours? And it is still early, Hood isn’t off the table for the night.”
“No, that’s true. I guess—” Dick froze, almost jolting out of the shadows in surprise at what he was seeing.
“Nightwing?” Babs demanded.
“Jason has someone with him.”
There was silence for a beat before the line erupted in overlapping voices.
“What the hell?” Dick murmured.
“What’s happening Nightwing?” Tim demanded; words clipped and anxious and loud enough to be heard over the others.
“The twink just took Jason down. Dropped him like it was nothing.”
“Get in ther—”
“No, no that’s— okay that’s pretty weird, but that’s not the weird part. Jason swept the guy’s legs out from under him right after. And now, just… he’s laughing. They both are. Jason just flicked the other guy off.”
The silence on the comm line was heavy.
“Confirm that Nightwing?” Babs asked as Dick watched Jason pry himself up off the floor. He must have said something because the other man dissolved into harder laughter, curling up on his side as he flicked Jason off right back.
“There’s a stranger in Jay’s place and Jay is laughing,” Dick repeated.
He tracked Jason as he moved to the door and picked up the messenger bag the other man had dropped. Jason rooted through it and pulled out a small kraft paper bag. He raised his brows at whatever it was. And then he did something that Dick didn’t know Jason was capable of anymore.
He smiled. It was soft.
“Guys, he’s… smiling. Like….” Dick gave up trying to explain it and snapped a still of it with the body cam to send through chat.
“Oh,” Babs whispered. “He looks… so happy.”
“I can’t get an I.D. on the guy. Just somewhere around Jason or Tim’s age best as I can tell. Black hair. Lean but he’s obviously got some muscles,” Dick said when he had gathered himself. The guy basically oozed off the floor and onto the couch. He was twisted to watch Jason, which left his back to Dick. “I think the other guy got him tea. Jason’s making it for them now.”
“Tea? Like, a present?” Steph asked.
“Yep.”
“Huh.” That was a dangerous sort of ‘huh’ to hear from Tim. That ‘huh’ had layers— dangerous layers.
“No, Red.”
“I didn’t say anything!” Tim defended at the same moment as Babs chimed in with, “He has a point.”
“Thank you, Oracle,” Tim said.
Steph snorted. “I thought you didn’t say anything.”
“Oh shu—”
“No,” Dick interrupted. He poured every bit of authority he had learned leading his own team into the word. “I mean, it: no. I’ll stop by tomorrow to visit him and see what I can learn but no hacking, no looking at his cams, no checks.”
“Nightwing—” Oracle started.
“No. Guys, I’m serious. When was the last time Jay had someone he was close to outside of work and family?”
The silence really said everything.
“Yeah, exactly. So we’re not going to do anything to fuck this up for him. Have I made myself clear?”
“Yeah, yeah, crystal, no need to be so fucking dramatic,” Steph said, cutting through the tension as easily as she always did. “We have enough of that in the family. ‘Have I made myself clear’— who do you think you are? A bat shaped furry?”
Tim groaned. “No, we are not getting into this debate again—”
Dick tuned out his family as he watched Jason settle down on the couch across from the stranger. He was still smiling.
No, Dick was no Bat, but he’d still look after his little wing.

AN: HELLO MY DARLINGS it has been a long time since we’ve had fresh fish here- a month to be exact. But we are back. Danny really wanted to throw a lot at this chapter. Danny, bby, we weren’t supposed to go into the King thing yet. But here we are. Also, Jason cluing in about how much he likes Danny? Could it be?
If you asked to be tagged on a part older than 14 or 13, I’ve probably missed you and you can ask again, but PLEASE be sure you’re not already on the list. Also when the new post editor becomes the only option in a few weeks, expect to see tags coming from my side account clockwaysadmin to get around the issue of too many tags stops things from being postable. That also might break tags less, we’ll see!
Stay delightful, darlings!

DPxDC HC - The Lazarus Pits & Jason
I love the idea of Jason Todd becoming a sort of pseudo-halfa.
Like, there are all these headcanons that the Lazarus Pits are places where the Infinite Realms seeps into the mortal world & leaves its dead & rotting ectoplasm to be absorbed by plants & animals only for the ectoplasm to return to the Zone after those things die & it's just part of the perpetual cycle of life & death. Like ghostly compost piles or something.
Even where it's speculated that there's a pit beneath Amity or something.
But the Lazarus Pit in Nanda Parbat has been corrupted by dark magic used to clog up the pit & resurrect the recently dead. This causes the souls of the dead to be unable to move on to their 'Journey of the Soul'(TM).
See my 'Explaining the Ghost Zone' post for more:
Also, because ectoplasm more easily attaches to & amplifies strong emotions & the more negative ones are the most typically felt at the moment of tragic death, but this ectoplasm is rotting & corrupt, therefore making those emotions more difficult to regulate, it causes what is known as the Pit Rage & anger issues.
I like fics & prompts where Jason either goes to Amity to investigate & staying there too long sort of flushes out all the gunk & he's able to develop a core or he's taken to Frostbite where they help him. It's also funny when ghosts react to him as if he'd been swimming in trash or shit for days because that's essentially what the pits are for the GZ.
However, if he does get a fully stable core, I prefer if he's not a full halfa (maybe halfway between ecto-liminal & halfa) & only gets a few of the more common powers. Even the ones he gets tend to be pretty downgraded. Things like advanced healing, increased strength, speed, & flexibility, invisibility & intangibility on occasion, the ability to actually grab & hit ghosts, even the power to see the regular, non-GZ DC ghosts like Deadman & the Gentlemen Ghost. Perfect dark vision, able to walk entirely silently, & he messes with people's perception of him by making himself unnoticable. This is called Spectral Acknowledgement. However, because he's not a true halfa, his anti-gravity center isn't fully developed, so he can really only glide & slow his falling. Just stuff that gives him an edge & a few benefits, while not taking away from his fighting style.
For more of ghostly perception, go here:
And because he's only a pseudo-halfa, he doesn't have a ghost form of his own.
Also Jason/Jazz & maybe Damien/Dani or Jon-El/Dani depending on the au.
Also, Jazz working at Arkham & doing a better job than any of the other doctors before her is just so big brain.

They Think He’s the Ghost?
fanfiction
ao3
word count: 3820
Halfa!Dash AU, where Dash was at Danny's house for a school project, but started screwing around instead of working, resulting in Dash being the one to activate the portal and become a halfa/ghost hero. Being the only person Dash knows with any knowledge of ghosts (who won't try to dissect him), Danny ends up being his human helper who covers for Dash and helps him figure out how to defeat other ghosts. @raaorqtpbpdy The GIW see Danny and Dash phase through something and they kidnap Danny thinking he's the halfa.
i didnt know how to end this but its fine. this is kinda altered from my original invisobang idea but in the dash phantom au instead of canon au
Dash was walking with Danny down the street to the Nasty Burger. They had had a long day at school. There were way too many ghost attacks than what was warranted for one day. Dash was exhausted and he could tell Danny was too.
He was always amazed with how much Danny did to help him. If Dash was in his position, a regular human, he didn’t think he’d be able to do all the stuff that Danny did. But that just meant Danny was just brave as he was. He didn’t need ghostly, other dimensional powers to do it for him. Dash thought that was cool.
They had almost made it to the Nasty Burger when they heard the sound of ectoblasts echoing around between the buildings.
“Come on!” Dash said as he turned around. He watched the sky, looking to see where the ghost was.
There it was, flying above them. Dash was about to run to hide somewhere when Danny grabbed his arm.
“Look.” He pointed.
Chasing after the ghost was a GIW agent suited up in one of their ghost suits. He shot blasts at it from one of his ecto-guns. Many of his shots missed the ghost and instead made holes and cracks in the buildings.
“That guy’s here.” Danny said, still pointing up at him. “We’ve fought so many ghosts already today, maybe we could leave one for the GIW?”
Dash hummed. He did like the sound of not fighting another ghost today.
Before Dash could voice his decision, he was interrupted by the sound of a huge explosion. Him and Danny looked up and panic filled his chest when he saw that one of the buildings they were standing near was collapsing.
They made eye contact with each other and everything seemed to happen in the matter of a second.
Danny leapt at Dash, closing the distance between them as the building fell. Dash wrapped his arms around him and turned them intangible before the building squashed them. It hit the ground and debris flew everywhere, sending dust up into the air.
Danny coughed. “That was a close one. Glad you were here, otherwise I would’ve been a pancake.”
“What would I do with a flattened boyfriend?” Dash sighed. “I guess I’d be forever resigned to using you as my blanket.”
Danny laughed and shoved his shoulder a little. “We need to make sure no one’s hurt. We should get going.”
Dash shook his head and turned invisible. “There’s no we this time. If buildings are collapsing I can’t risk you being here. I’ll drop you off inside the Nasty Burger and start looking for any injured people after.”
Danny scowled. “It’s not fair you got the ghost powers. I want to be able to help more.”
Dash triggered his transformation while invisible and flew across the street to the Nasty Burger. “You help plenty. And trust me, dying was not a fun experience. You should know. You were there.”
He intangibly flew through the wall and into the men’s bathroom. He set Danny on the floor and watched as he became visible.
“Stay out of danger. I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
Danny rolled his eyes. “Don’t be surprised if I eat your food because you’re taking too long.”
Dash stuck his tongue out at Danny and flew back through the wall. He flew back towards the pile of rubble and cement and started scanning through it. He couldn’t see anyone on top of the rubble. That was promising. He went intangible and flew all through the rubble, checking for anyone that might have gotten stuck underneath.
He breathed a huge sigh of relief. There had been no one in the building when it fell. That was extremely lucky.
He was about to fly back to the Nasty Burger when he was being shot at.
“Hey!” He looked up to see the GIW agent floating in the air above him.
“Put your hands up, spook!” He shouted at Dash. “We’re onto you!”
Dash rolled his eyes. “Yeah, okay.”
He went invisible again and flew away. With how incompetent this agent was, leveling a whole building in the middle of town, he didn’t believe that he was onto any kind of secret at all. It was probably just some kind of bluff.
Flying back into the men’s restroom, Dash transformed and walked out of the stall he landed in. He washed his hands and walked out. He didn’t have to look for Danny long before he found him sitting in one of the booths, two orders of food in front of him.
“I’m back!” Dash swaggered over to their table.
“Wow, that was fast. Did you find anyone in the rubble?” He took a drink of his soda.
“Nope! How lucky was that?” Dash picked up his burger and took a big bite.
“Extremely.”
“I guess it wasn’t a good idea to let the GIW agent handle that.” Dash sighed. For supposed government agents, you’d think they’d be better trained at what they’re supposed to be doing.
“Yeah, I guess. At least we know for next time now.” Danny took a bite of his burger.
“Yeah. If this is how they go about capturing ghosts, hopefully there won’t be a next time.”
-----
Dash stood by the stairs leading up to the school’s front doors. Danny was supposed to meet him here ten minutes ago. It wasn’t unusual for Danny to be late sometimes, but this time Dash just had a bad feeling about it.
That was when he saw Sam and Tucker running from down the street. As soon as they saw him they made a beeline for him. They were out of breath and looked like they had run the whole way here.
“Whoa, where’s the fire?” Dash asked.
They were both panting, trying to get the words out.
“Took… GIW grabbed… Danny. They took him.” Sam forced out between breaths.
Dash’s stomach plummeted. “What do you mean they took Danny?”
“They thought he was a ghost.” Tucker said towards the ground as he hunched over, still catching his own breath. “They saw the two of you phase through something and they assumed it was him.”
“They think he’s the ghost?”
Sam and Tucker nodded.
“It’s probably because his parents are the ghost hunters slash mad scientists.” Tucker said. “They have no reason to suspect that it’s you.”
“We don’t even look the same!”
“Okay, yeah we know but that doesn’t matter right now. We need to make a plan to get Danny out of there. Where do we start?”
“Can Tucker figure out where they’re keeping him? Like what floor, wing, building? Are you able to get into their systems?” Dash turned to face Tucker.
“I haven’t been able to yet.” Tucker said solemnly. “But this is as good of a time to try as any.”
——-
The world came back to Danny slowly, and with a splitting headache. He didn’t remember what happened before he fell asleep. Or did he pass out? He couldn’t remember.
He could hear a beeping sound and then the sound of a heavy door sliding open. He pried his eyes open and didn’t recognize the room he was in.
“Daniel James Fenton.”
Who was that saying his name? Where was he?
“We finally caught you.”
What?
He struggled to turn his head to see the man who was standing behind him. Once his eyes were focused enough, he could make out a GIW agent.
His eyes widened and he remembered snippets of him being taken now. Them grabbing him. The looks on Sam and Tucker’s faces. But why were they taking humans?
“Why am I here?” Danny croaked out. His throat felt like sandpaper.
The agent scoffed at him. “Don’t play dumb. We know who you are, Phantom.”
Danny laughed out loud at the agent. He really thought he was Dash? How much of an idiot was this guy?
“What are you talking about? I’m not Phantom.”
“We saw you. When that building collapsed you launched yourself at your friend. When the building was on the ground, the two of you popped up unscathed.”
Danny could feel the pit of his stomach dropping. They saw that? He didn’t know there was anyone watching them.
If he was here that meant that they didn’t suspect Dash. That meant Dash was fine. It was better that they had Danny here. Sam and Tucker could tell his parents and they could get him out of here. They could sue the GIW. He didn’t know if they’d be able to do that if Dash was the one that was caught.
“It’s no use lying to us. Your time parading around in the human world is over, ghost.”
Danny swallowed. He could wait until they came to get him. He had to. “What are you going to do with me?”
“We have all sorts of stuff planned for you, Phantom.”
The agent wheeled over a cart filled with all sorts of different tools and weapons. He could feel his breath hitch.
He had to wait.
-----
“I’ve got something!” Tucker yelled over his shoulder towards the Fenton’s kitchen.
Dash ran over to where Tucker sat. Danny had been missing for a week now and Tucker hadn’t been able to hack into the GIW’s database until today. They were finally making some headway.
“What’d you find?” Dash asked. His hands were gripping the back of the couch.
“They have all sorts of files in here on Phantom. It says he was detained and that he’s currently being held in a compound that’s a ways out of town. It also gives me the floor he’s being held on as well as the room. If you give me a little more time, I can try to find a map.”
“Okay, great. That sounds good. Thank you.”
Dash walked back towards the kitchen where Jazz was sitting at the table. She was fixing them a meal. Something about how they wouldn’t be able to keep working if they didn’t have the energy or something like that. Dash didn’t have much of an appetite though.
Breaking the news about Danny getting captured by the GIW was hard for Dash. She hadn’t known about his secret, but Sam and Tucker convinced him that at least one of the Fenton’s needed to know where Danny was. He was still terrified of all the scalpels in the lab though, so he picked Jazz as the person he spilt all his secrets to.
“What did Tucker say?” She asked him.
“He’s got a location for where they’re holding Danny. Now he’s looking for a map. Once he finds that, we can start making a plan to get him out of there. I’m thinking since Tucker’s already in their system, he can disable the power or all the ghost shields or whatever they have inside so I can just phase in and get him.”
She nodded. “That’s good. I hope he’s doing okay.”
Dash cringed. “I want to be optimistic but it’s hard. The GIW literally collapsed a building on us the other day. My hopes that they’re treating him well aren’t high.”
Jazz took a deep breath. “I guess we’ll just have to hope that he’s still alive when we find him.”
“Yeah.” He looked away from her. He could tell she was worried out of her mind. Her hands were shaking as she stirred the potato salad she was making.
This was all his fault. If he had been paying more attention, or even went to go fight that ghost himself, Danny wouldn’t be in this situation. They wouldn’t have taken him.
“I’ve got the map!” Tucker shouted from the living room.
Dash bolted back to the other room to look at Tucker’s laptop.
He smiled when he saw the map of the GIW compound on his screen.
“Great. Now what’s the plan?”
-----
Danny laid on his back on the hard mattress that was on the floor of his cell. Memories of needles and ectoplasm flitted back and forth through his mind. Of experiments. The experiments with the electrified ectoplasm hurt the worst.
At some point, the GIW must have figured out he wasn’t really Phantom by now. They had to. They’d done enough experiments on him by now to see that he bled red. Why was he still here? They didn’t say anything about them continuing to hunt Phantom down. Were they really that dense?
Danny lifted his hand up and tried to brush back the greasy hair that stuck to his face. Instead of making contact with his hair, his hands clipped through his forehead, clipping in and out of intangibility.
He couldn’t tell if what they were doing to him was killing him. He was still here but the way his hands clipped through things- how he woke up and he was floating. It unsettled him. He didn’t know at what point it would switch from ‘sick with ghost powers’ to ‘dead with ghost powers’. He didn’t want to find out.
He closed his eyes again. He just wanted to go back to sleep. He didn’t know why he had woken up in the first place. He was always so tired now. He could just go back to sleep, maybe it would make this torture go by faster.
He was starting to drift off again, floating up off of his mattress when he heard the quiet whine of the power all around him disappear. Without the static sound of the electricity, Danny’s ears rang in his head as the quiet engulfed him. When he opened his eyes it was dark. He couldn’t see anything.
Then he could hear shouting outside his room. A couple of GIW agents ran past his door, the pounding of their feet fading away as they ran down the corridor. Danny’s brows furrowed. What was going on?
Then suddenly, a bright light was phasing its way into his cell. It took Danny’s eyes a moment to adjust to the sudden light, but when they did he nearly burst into tears. Standing in front of him was Dash.
“I found him!” Dash was talking into the pair of Fenton Phones he had in his ears. “Try to keep them from turning the power back on for a couple more minutes! We’ll be out soon!”
He looked at Danny and quickly walked towards him. When he tried to grab Danny, his hands phased right through him. Danny’s eyes filled with tears.
“This wasn’t what I wanted. When I said I wanted ghost powers to help I didn’t- this wasn’t what I…” Danny trailed off.
“I know.” Dash said. He scooped Danny up off the floor of his holding cell in the GIW compound, his hands able to hold him this time. “It’ll be okay. We’re getting you out of here.”
Danny wrapped his arms around Dash’s neck and nodded. He could feel as they flew away. As they phased through walls and floors, he could hear various shouts from the GIW. He didn’t know if they were invisible or if the GIW were tracking Dash with one of their tracking devices. But soon enough they were phasing through the last floor and then they were in the nighttime air. Danny took a deep breath of it and gripped Dash’s neck harder.
“We’re out!” Dash said into the Fenton Phone’s. Danny could hear Sam and Tucker cheering faintly from the headset.
They flew quickly away from the compound and through the surrounding forest. This was the fastest Dash has ever flown with Danny. How bad did he look that he felt he needed to go this fast?
Even with the speed, Danny could feel himself nodding off in Dash’s arms. That probably wasn’t good, but he was still so tired. Maybe resting wouldn’t be so bad.
-----
The next time he woke up, he was startled by the bright lights above him. How did he get back into the compound?
He thrashed around, trying to throw off whatever was on top of him. He was about to rip out whatever was sticking out of his arm when a big hand stopped him.
“Danno! It’s okay! You’re safe!”
Danny suddenly stopped at the sound of his dad’s voice. Looking around, he could finally take in his surroundings. He was inside Amity Park’s hospital.
“Mads, Danny’s awake!” His dad called.
His mom darted into the room and looked at him. Tears filled her eyes and she rushed her way to his bed and put her hands on both of his cheeks and kissed him all over his face. He wanted to be embarrassed but all he could do was smile as tears ran down his face.
“We were so worried about you!” His mom cried. “You’d been missing and we didn’t know what happened. We were getting ready to assume the worst when Jazz called and said that Phantom found you!”
“Those damned government agents are going to get what’s coming to them.” Jack said. Danny didn’t think he’d ever seen his dad this angry before. “Vladdie’s got all sorts of lawyers and he’s ready to give us all of them to get this agency disbanded.”
“If they think they can get away with hurting my baby, they have another thing-”
His mom got interrupted by a knock on the doorframe. Danny turned his head to look and standing there was Dash holding a bouquet of flowers. His mom smiled at him.
“We can talk about this later. I’ll go get your doctor and let him know you’re awake. I’m sure your boyfriend wants to say hello to you.”
He watched his parents file out of the room. His mom gave Dash a hug on her way out and then it was just the two of them.
Dash walked over and set the bouquet of flowers on the table next to Danny’s bed. He sat down in the chair his dad had just been occupying and grabbed Danny’s hand tightly.
“I’m glad you’re okay.” He whispered. “I thought you weren’t going to be at first.”
“What happened?” Danny asked.
“You fell asleep while we were flying away from the compound. I thought maybe you were just tired, but then you weren’t responding when I got you home. Jazz told me to bring you here while she called your parents to tell them you’ve been found.”
“Oh.” Danny said quietly. “But I’m okay now. You guys saved me.”
Danny’s hand clipped through Dash’s.
“I’m sorry. You wouldn’t have been taken if it weren’t for me. I should’ve just gone and fought that ghost that day.”
“What? No, it’s not your fault. I was the one who suggested we just let the GIW handle it. Besides, they thought I was you because of the way I launched myself at you before you turned us intangible.”
“But if we’d been paying more attention-”
“I would have been so much more scared if it had been you in there.” Danny whispered. “Without you to do the rescue mission, there would have been no plausible way to get you out. We would’ve had to reveal you and fight it legally but who knows how long you would’ve been in there for.”
“But you almost died, Danny!”
“But I didn’t.”
“Yeah, but-”
“Hi, Danny!” A doctor walked in, followed closely behind by his parents. “Glad to see you’re awake already!”
“How long was I asleep for?” Danny asked.
“Only between a day or two, but we expected you to be asleep much longer due to what your body was put through.” The doctor’s voice grew a bit more solemn. “Due to what those government agents did, you have suffered from acute ectoplasmic poisoning.”
“Ectoplasmic poisoning?”
“Yes. This isn’t something we’ve ever encountered before. We’re going to discuss treatment plans with your parents. They’re going to help us find out if it’s possible to separate ectoplasm from living tissue.”
“And if it isn’t?” Danny asked.
“Then we’re not sure that that will ever go away.” The doctor gestured to where Danny’s fingers were clipping through Dash’s hand again.
“Oh.” He said quietly.
“We’re going to keep you here for a couple more days for observation and then you’ll get to go home once we know there’s no more risk of the ectoplasm causing further damage.”
“We’re going to go with the doctor and share our research with him so we can figure out how to treat this.” His mom smiled at him. “We’ll come visit you later.”
“With a bowl of fudge!” He said cheerily.
“Thanks, guys.” Danny smiled.
They walked back out of the room with the doctor. Danny could feel Dash’s eyes on him again.
“Danny, please don’t sacrifice yourself for me.”
He wrinkled his nose. “What am I supposed to do? Tell them you’re Phantom? I didn’t want them kidnapping my boyfriend.”
“How do you think I felt?”
Danny fidgeted in his bed. “It’s one thing for them to make a mistake and kidnap me. If I kept trying to convince them I wasn’t Phantom then they would’ve gone for you next and it would’ve been my fault.”
“Danny, no-“
Paulina burst into the room, interrupting them. “I was gone for two weeks to visit my grandparents in Columbia just to come back and find out Danny got kidnapped and no one told me?”
Tucker ran into the room behind her, out of breath. “We tried to stop her.”
“Like I said, Paulina, we were kind of occupied.” Sam said as she walked in behind them.
“We didn’t want to ruin your vacation.” Dash shrugged. “Besides you wouldn’t have been able to do anything besides worry, being in Columbia and all.”
She turned her nose up in the air. “It still would’ve been nice to know, is all.”
“Your parents told us about what your hands keep doing.” Sam said quietly.
Everyone looked at him where his hands were still intangible in Dash’s hand.
Danny took a deep breath. “It’ll be fine. It’ll go away, or it won’t, or maybe I’ll just be a little like Dash. That’s okay.”
Dash was silent for a moment before speaking. “Even though I’m still upset you’d sacrifice yourself to protect me, thank you for being brave for me. It’s something that I admire about you. I wish I didn’t need ghost powers to be brave.”
Danny smiled at him. “It’s easier to be brave when you have someone else to be brave with.”
“Barf.” Sam said. “You guys are making goo goo eyes at each other.”
“Enough with all this depressing nonsense.” Paulina said. “Who wants to see pictures of my abuelita?”
Danny barked out a laugh. “Way to lighten the mood, Paulina. Sure, let’s see some pictures of your abuelita.”
Even if this ectoplasmic poisoning didn’t ever go away, Danny was at least thankful he had people here to help him be brave.
