brainworms of the day: reborn au con shenanigans

i posted before about tori and kakashi going to a ninja fiction con like a tired older sibling taking his kid sister to a con. and i like the idea of them repeating this, because like. kakashi isn't super into interacting with fandom but he likes merch and he gets a kick out of seeing cosplays, and tori likes company and kakashi is pretty cill when he's not actively being a troll. so cons are like Their Thing and kushina gets very mushy over the idea of them bonding so obviously minato always gives them the time off

anyway i had some thoughts for shenanigans

thought one: minato canonically really likes icha icha and i think he deserves to have some fun. at first i was like "i don't think the hokage gets many vacation days, and surely if he DID take a vacation he'd spend it with his family?" but then i remembered he can teleport. minato takes days off all the time with the idea his assistant will just summon him back if there's a problem. he shows up unannounced in a pair of sunglasses

minato: i'm incognito :)

random passerby: the fourth hokage and hatake kakashi group cosplay? this place gets less and less original every year

kakashi and tori are unsure of this addition to their group because this is Their Thing. kakashi gets over it pretty quick because he does like getting casual time to hang out with minato, actually, but tori is annoyed because first of all. how is she supposed to behave normally* if her boss is here. secondly now everyone keeps asking her why SHE'S not in matching cosplay.

minato: do you want my cloak? lotta people in cloaks

tori: NO I DON'T, ACTUALLY

*everyone who knows tori would like to point out that the only change in her behavior is a 15% reduction in swearing.

anyway i am getting a kick out of imagining actual hokage and infamous ninja namikaze minato waiting in the same-day registration line. squatting in a two hour line to get into one of the big panels. taking photos with other minato cosplayers. holding back tears because there's a fourteen year old kakashi cosplayer with a sERVICE DOG ALSO IN COSTUME!!!!!!!!

thought two: sasori crashes a con because he wants to pass on intel about orochimaru or soemthing

tori: oh my god WHY are you HERE

sasori: because you're closer than deidara >:(

tori: no i mean, in public? in the crowded dealER'S ROOM?

anyway the true shenanigan-y part of this is that initially kakashi thinks a weird 25 year old man is chatting tori up. which like. yes? technically true? but kakashi thinks this is just tori falling for the wiles of a hot cosplayer and that he needs to intervene immediately because she's FIFTEEN, you PERVERT--

kakashi: hi :) who's this :)

thought three: i think in her later teens/early twenties, tori starts falling back on I HAVE A BOYFRIEND really frequently to get out of conversations. like in theory the card is for "a guy is hitting on me" but she'll also play it for "someone is talking to me and i don't want them to be."

in konoha this strategy works because even if you were just telling her the cafe is closing in five minutes, "but i'm waiting for my boyfriend, uchiha itachi :(" is enough to give this random poor employee pause. these words have meaning in konoha. however i think there's some Shenanigans to be had for her doing this without thinking about it at a con where context is very different.

man she's trapped with bc they're in line and he won't stop trying to get her to give him her room number: boyfriend? prove it.

tori, exasperated: (pulls out a photo she keeps on her)

man:

man: that's uchiha itachi

tori: exactly

man: .....you honestly expect me to believe that? you clearly just have that on you because you're a fan

for bonus shenanigans repeat a similar exchange but it's at a kitty girl stabby ninja con so itachi is there and immediately wonders up afterwards with like. cat ears on.

man: (eyes darting back and forth between the photo and itachi himself, terrified)

itachi: the food options weren't great but i brought you some bread. did the line move?

man: (now looking around to see if anyone ELSE has noticed this)

tori, very blatantly taking his hand: no they just made us rearrange to stop blocking the hallway

thought four: something cute

i don't want tori to be as well known as deidara/itachi in civilian circles, mostly because it'd be funny. but also i don't think she's as flashy as them and a lot of the stuff she does relies on her not being recognizable. and i like the humor of interacting with itachi/deidara stans and cosplayer who just don't recognize her. so there isn't much in the way of tori cosplay/fic/etc even when she's older and has her own Reputation among actual ninja. but okay. imagine. at the ONE con tori can't make there's a lone tori cosplayer. she's sort of haunting the place-- obviously socially awkward and shy. kakashi loses his mind. he summons minato. minato brings kushina. they bother this girl for like hours and low-key make her day even though it's also kind of scary?

kushina has to physically hold tori back from stalking her after she sees the photos. SHE'S JUST GOING TO BREAK INTO HER HOME AND SEE WHAT FANFICTION SHE'S READING NOTHING VIOLENT OR SCARY--

I feel like you guys grow up living close to each other but you never really spoke until middle school and then you just clicked and were instant best friends

but in high school you both get a bit awkward around each other for some reason

well that reason is ofc bc you’ve both, unbeknownst to the other, started to develop feelings for each other

you’re still friends but there’s just this weird underlying tension, your stares lingering on each other’s faces longer than needed, palpable silences, looking at each other’s lips, etc.

it’s one of those funny things where literally everyone else can see it but you two

Argyle is always on Jonathan about just telling you, meanwhile Nancy and Robin are on your case about the same thing

so it finally happens when a big group of you are hanging out, like you, Jonathan, Robin, Nancy, Argyle, Steve and Eddie, but they’ve secretly planned to bail out and leave you and Jonathan locked alone together

the two of you sit in awkward silence for a while before Jonathan eventually launches into a fast ramble about how he’s really sorry for how awkward everything is and he’s sorry your friendship has gone a bit weird and he just rambles on and on about how much he actually likes you but he just keeps apologising at the same time

so eventually you just have to shut him up by kissing him

now the two of you have admitted your feelings for each other things are still a little bit awkward to begin with and it takes a while for the two of you to settle properly into your relationship

your relationship starts off very slow, and he’s reluctant to take things too far too quickly bc he cares about you so much

but once you guys are in deep he’s so devoted and loving, like Jonathan's the type to frequently remind you how he feels about you and is always saying ‘I love you’

you’d be his muse and his model for his photography

going on lil road trips together to find cool and interesting places for him to photograph

and again you get to model at all these cool and unique places that the two of you find

Jonathan is the absolute best gift-giver when it comes to your birthdays or anniversaries, he always gives you a photo-album but he makes them all different, like themed albums basically

so for your birthday one year you get an album that’s dedicated to you and Jonathan and the places you’ve travelled together, and the whole album is like a map of your journeys together

but your anniversary one is pictures he’s taken as your relationship has progressed, so it starts with pictures of the two of you hanging out as friends, the rest of the group there in the pictures too, then there’s the first picture he ever took of you alone, the first picture he took of you once you became a couple, the first of one of just the two of you together, your first date, your second date, etc., and this album just reads like a map of your relationship together and it’s just the cutest thing

even the pictures that he doesn’t give to you as a gift he still keeps them neatly organised in albums of his own

like Eddie has a collection of Polaroids of his lover but they’re all messily strewn about in a box under his bed (see my dating Eddie headcanons here)

but Jonathan keeps all of his pictures organised, so when he has the urge to look up a certain picture of you or a certain moment, he knows exactly where to find it

Joyce absolutely adores you and she basically becomes like another mother / bestie to you, like you’ll hang out just with Joyce even if Jonathan’s not even there

Jonathan and the Byers in general become like a safe-haven to you for when things are shitty at home and you need to get away

being friends with Will, basically like another sibling to him, and almost becoming like a safe space for him to turn to

he’ll always give you his coat even if it’s freezing outside, your comfort is always this boy’s no.1 priority

But now it’s worse because Steve is a Clydesdale with this heft to him and his dirty blond hair and dark, thick beard. But they aren’t kids and Steve isn’t so much smaller than him, so Bucky doesn’t have to focus on finding that perfect balance of holding back just enough where it doesn’t seem like he is but he’s also not at risk of pushing Steve’s frail body too far. Now they can really whale on each other. Which is fun… until it isn’t. Because Bucky is laughing and sweating and actually starting to feel tired, and then he’s pinned, and he’s choking back a moan, sweating harder. Steve is on top of him. Steve is crushing him. Steve’s big, hot chest is against his back - Bucky can feel how he’s sweating through his skintight white t-shirt, his thick pecs squishing against his shoulder blades. You have mentioned that you read a lot of academic writing, so I was wondering how you annotate your reading? Or any tips on reading academic writing. Thank you!

Tips on Reading Academic Writing, & My Explanations & Experiences (pure tips are highlighted in bold)

Thank you for the ask! I'm not a professional, but I will share what I've found useful as a student/soon-to-be grad. Besides the few times that my professors have required us submit formally annotated bibliographies, I usually do not take them in any neat, organized way. When I read an academic text, I often underline/highlight if possible (if I have an ebook version or paper version to do so) while focusing on key words/key concepts and inserting any associated words/concepts that come to mind. I also copy/paste (or use iPhone's text scanner in the photo app) specific terms or phrases that I want to remember or that stick out to me. I primarily use my Notes app bc it syncs from my laptop to my phone. If I'm doing a close-reading and wish to take my time, I read over each paragraph (or in rare cases when I really wish to do an even closer reading, each sentence) and I attempt to then summarize it to myself in as few words as possible. This last part appeals to my own personal learning style though, which I'll discuss further on below.*

I scan every text for the most important parts, keeping in mind that each paragraph contains its own sub-topic. A paragraph is like a scene in a film or a play, and each one has its own beginning, middle, and ending. By reading the first or last sentence of a paragraph, you can usually glean what the whole paragraph is about. The first and last sentences of a paragraph are the most important. Likewise, the opening and closing paragraphs of an essay exist to summarize the most important parts of the entire essay. The thesis statement (the main idea of an essay, or the "TLDR summary" to put it into Reddit terms) is usually located at the end of the first paragraph of an essay. Also, this all applies to formal academic writing; not so with casual or creative writing. If I am desperately trying to absorb information and don't have the time/energy to fully study something, what I do is allocate the work's thesis statement, and try to summarize in my own terms the "main point(s)" of the work.

Another invaluable piece of advice is to build your vocabulary and keep vocabulary lists for heavy reading (a list of terms and their definitions). Some academic papers or textbooks will include these in their works. For years, I have kept a sacred list called "Words" which is simply a list of terms that I either struggle to remember or that I've had to look up the definition of. But specific topics get their own vocabulary list, especially if it's something niche or a list of terms only used by a specifer writer or in a specific theory or sub-field. A lot of academics/writers/philosophers invent terms to more easily explain or describe their concepts. Heideigger, considered one of the most interesting but difficult philosophers to understand, is especially difficult with this. It feels like learning a new language sometimes to read his work. But academic reading is often a matter of the writer putting forth new ideas and/or explaining complex things, and so it is often slow, heavy reading, which requires patience.

My biggest piece of advice is to look up lists of learning styles and try to experiment with each of them until you find which one(s) work best for you. Maybe review your earliest memories from school or past memories where you felt like you were excited to learn. Try to implement these while reading information to see what method is most beneficial & comfortable. Everyone learns differently and no two people are exactly the same. Don't feel bad if methods working for others aren't working for you; this is an opportunity for further exploration.

*My individual learning style is "learning by teaching," which means that in order to retain information, I recapitulate it to myself, or make up imaginary scenarios where I have to teach or explain the information to others, or occasionally I do so in real life by info-dumping the information to interested people (or here on my blog). By explaining a subject, it deepens my own understanding of the subject, because you have to understand something well in order to be able to regurgitate it in your own words. If I get stuck and find myself unable to explain something, then this allows me to see where I'm lacking knowledge, and what I need to review. I recall implementing this learning style in some of my earliest memories. Around ages 3/4, I would pretend to be a teacher in an imaginary classroom while practicing my letters and numbers.

Adult Byler Teacher Headcanons

They both teach at the same school, maybe even same district.

Will teaches art, namely Drawing & Painting I & II, as well as AP Art & Honors Drawing for Production & Design. (He also was dragged into making props for the school musical, and started/runs the school’s GSA. Mans is SWAMPED)

Mike teaches AP Language & Comp, Creative Writing, Honors English 9, and English 11. He also runs the school’s Literary Magazine, Newspaper, and Yearbook clubs. (Mans is similarly swamped)

(They’re both considering starting up an AV club & a D&D club, but where they’ll find the money or the time, they got no clue)

Will was the reason Mike first explored teaching. Mike had taken his dad’s advice & become a business major, because it can be applied to lots of jobs & is a good way to get a job quick, but… yeah, he fucking hated it.

He ended up taking one of the education courses Will was taking, trying to fulfill some credits & figuring having a class with Will would make it bearable… and then he fell headfirst into teaching

They were hired at the same time. They student taught together, too. A wave of retirees meant most of their colleagues were new blood, like them, and… well, there was A Lot of relationship drama among the staff. It was like a freakin’ soap opera. (Did my high school have a lot of interpersonal staff relationship drama? Yes, why do you ask?)

Will & Mike came out when they got married, because Will wanted to change his last name. By this point, Will was already running the school’s GSA. They hadn’t been very public about their relationship, having been there for The Sanders Affair Of 2006 (and the subsequent divorces, marriages, and affairs that came from said affair) & making the mutual decision to keep their personal lives private… but as their district became less conservative, they hadn’t exactly hidden it, either.

Their friends on the staff all know, & some are close enough friends to get invites

Will had gone by “Mr. William” for the vast majority of his career, so it wasn’t a huge shift for his students or anything.

Mike’s nickname is just “Wheeler,” a similar sign of affection—at least, to his face.

(His students call him “Hot Wheels” behind his back)

(Will is well aware of this, & endlessly amused)

Will’s hair has gone entirely grey. (Lonnie’s genetics, rip). Post-covid, he uses blue light glasses… unlike mike, who needs glasses full-time. (Will teases him about this quite frequently)

Mike finishes growing his hair out, but ditched the bangs. He’s one of those teachers who always has his hair in a severe ponytail (he likes manbuns, too, but you wont often see him with one bc We’re At Work, Will, I Must Be Professional)

They have matching rings, customized replicas of the One Ring bc they’re both geeks. They’re engraved to say “crazy together” in elvish. Technically these were their engagement rings… and also the rings they used when they got a domestic partnership, and also the rings they used in their wedding ceremony. For a long time, they wore them like necklaces tucked under their shirts (bc the Mike in the Math department & Sydney from Social Studies are MASSIVE gossips, and also bc LoTR is iconic & these two are cheesey af),

They started wearing them openly when Will changed his last name, though.

Will & Mike are the teachers who let students eat lunch in their classrooms. The ones who invite them in during free periods. The ones who hear about the shitty chem teacher, the asshole ex, the awful divorce, the toxic friend group, the impending move. They’re the ones who collect & display dozens of senior photos, whose hands cramp from writing yearbook messages, and the ones whose students will remember years later. They’re the ones who keep in touch—they get wedding invites and scattered letters and life updates.

Because they’re the ones who remember what it’s like to be 14, 15, and feeling like the world was about to end. They remember the bullies. They remember the isolation. They remember how awful it feels to grow apart from the people you used to hold dear, and how much they hated high school.

It’s why they love being teachers, exhausting as it is. They’re the adults they didn’t get in high school, despite their parents’ best efforts—they get to be the support they desperately needed. They get to watch their kids grow, and its so, so satisfying to know they’re giving the kids better than what they had.

But most importantly? They’re happy.

no but seriously, I got this ask last night, and I spent the entire day writing out a solid semi-layout of the idea, and I think it's finally (mostly) ready to be shared!!

alright here we go--presenting my braindump for this fic skeleton I thought up bc my girl Bridgette doesn’t get nearly as much love as I feel she should-

fyi: canon divergence stuff (obv 'cause this is an au lmao), and a looong post ahdfjf

kk so each individual girl has some sort of confusion relating to love. Courtney and Duncan are fresh out of a breakup (partly the reason why Duncan quit wt) and Courtney’s struggling to understand what went wrong between them, she ultimately assures herself that winning is more important than romance, but when she starts hanging out with Bridgette more again, some...feelings she had initially brushed off in tdi start to resurface. Bridgette, for her part, is mixed with her past feelings for Geoff (they broke up in tda but are still good friends though at times it’s still a little awkward--maybe some Geoff & Brody mentions??) and befuddled by Alejandro’s manipulation; after Yukon, in an effort to prove herself not susceptible for exploitation so incidents like Alejandro won’t happen again, she vows to be stronger and more like how she was in tdi--steady and levelheaded, not so reliant on romantic relationships--and Courtney encourages this and tries to help her--the two growing closer that way too. meanwhile, Gwen is torn between her growing feelings for Courtney this past season (and half of tda), and now that Bridgette’s interacting more with Courtney, by extension, Gwen hangs out with her too; which allows her to realize more just how the two had clicked previously in tdi, and that the way she feels around Bridgette may not be exactly the same for Courtney, but the overall concept is still the same--so feeling confused and frustrated, she forces herself to focus on emotions for someone that ‘makes sense’: Duncan.

there you have it: a three-way tangle of chaos and repressed emotions, misunderstandings, and ‘is my heart broken?’ yet ironically, they also have their Soft Moments that only serve to make everything else more complicated for them.

starts off during ‘anything yukon do, i can do better’ where Bridgette gets stuck to a pole by Alejandro, the near-kiss, yada yada; but what’s different here is that when team amazon comes across Bridgette and after singing “stuck to a pole” Courtney insists on taking Bridgette along as well despite Bridgette being on a different team--giving a nod to Courtney and Bridgette’s close friendship from tdi--which the rest grudgingly agree at the prospect of an alliance. they reach the finish line, and instead of getting eliminated, Bridgette is told to switch from team victory to team amazon.

Courtney and Bridgette get to talk more in-depth in economy class, with the former being more enthused abt the team switch while the latter is still a bit emotionally scrambled from the last challenge’s events. meanwhile, an intern who feels bad for Bridgette and is a fan of her, gives her a letter from Geoff who asks for the Alejandro explanation--despite their breaking up, he thought she had moved on way too quickly and insubstantially, and Bridgette finds herself explaining what had happened and sending it to Geoff using the same intern, and from then on, their letter-exchanging occurs throughout the season, and their friendship strengthens that way. she gets insight abt Geoff and Brody, as well as scrapbook photos that he sends to cheer her up; he'd get insight into her actual thoughts, not just the television portrayal of them. (bonus if the intern who helps her becomes a good acquaintance of hers too.)

the dynamics in team amazon is a bit shaky what with Heather and Courtney vying for team leader and shunting the other down to get to the top; Gwen, at this point, can't be bothered, she takes Courtney's side when she does intervene, but often, she'd only make things worse by snarking at heather. Cody and Sierra are no help, obviously, so that leaves Bridgette trying to play mediator while being the glue of the team. along with that, she holds uneasy tension with team chris bc of Alejandro mainly; Tyler and Owen and Izzy she doesn't mind, though a Noah and Bridgette friendship would be super interesting to delve into. with the hugging thing in Yukon, she initially assumes he has a crush on her, but he only rolls his eyes and says that she was just the closest available heat source and his only other options would have been Heather and DJ--the 'bitch' and the 'cursed guy'. he sardonically adds that he doesn't know how everyone would react if he cuddled a guy again, which is when Bridgette pieces together his sexuality and, as a bisexual or pansexual, she bonds over that, and Noah's pleasantly surprised. they become closer, after the merge, whenever either wins, they usually end up asking the other to come to first class with them, but everyone just knows they're nothing romantic going on (bc there's alenoah tension on the side and obv the bridgette/courtney/gwen deal). But they both basically help each other with their respective love issues, and support each other. It'll be funny bc Noah's more of a 'Tough Love' kinda guy with his sarcasm and his introverted side, but Bridgette is the opposite: she shows her affection for people openly bc she's got nothing to hide, and she's more of an extrovert.

also Bridgette still interacts here and there with team victory--I feel like team chris and team amazon get the spotlight, so I wanna see if I can shed some on team victory lmao

Thinking that Heather gets eliminated pre-merge or during “Greece’s Pieces”

it all comes to a head in "i see london" when Bridgette, Courtney, and Gwen track down the ripper and end up finding Duncan instead. Gwen gets snatched by the ripper, and while trying to nab Duncan, Bridgette and Courtney end up in a ~situation~ where they may or may not kiss (and nab Duncan in a single motion). Gwen witnesses this on the cameras, and her feelings for Courtney muddles--on one hand, she wants to hate Bridgette, but she knows that's not reasonable, and she just can't hate Bridgette. whenever Gwen thinks abt her, her heart pounds as quickly as it does around Courtney; she knows Bridgette is the nicest person ever, and she genuinely has fun and laughs around her. so with her mixed feelings between both girls and her feeling like she's being a 'two-timer' by feeling similar ways for them both, Gwen focuses on the ship that she's heard from Sierra that td fans think will get together: gwuncan. she gets this belief that if she kisses Duncan and dates him, she'll sincerely like him and every confusing feeling she's had for Bridgette and Courtney will go away, and she'll be able to hang out with them like usual. so she kisses Duncan who either kisses back out of surprise or doesn't--but in both situations, he already likes someone else who he was meeting in London when they'd nabbed him and he makes sure Gwen knows that so they're both 'dating' just for the public.

when Courtney hears of this, she still gets upset bc Duncan's her ex and she still considers it an act of betrayal for her best friend to kiss her ex after knowing how much Courtney had cried over him. Gwen stays quiet and accepts the onslaught of insults from her bc she thinks that Courtney being upset about her dating her ex is a better reprieve than Courtney being disgusted for Gwen liking her and Bridgette at once. Bridgette can see that Gwen is hiding smth so she tries to talk to her, but Gwen shuts her out and Bridgette is simultaneously hurt and confused bc Gwen’s normally so upfront with things.

Bridgette and Courtney agree to take things slow-but neither can deny that there's something...missing, though they just avoid that topic. during the london elimination, Owen gets eliminated via Alejandro as a ‘fuck you’ to Noah who’s now beyond pissed and ready to deliver one back when given the chance for eliminating his buddy. Sierra starts gushing abt bridgney and them being cute and how she thought ‘gwourtney would reign supreme’ and everyone’s confused as to wtf that means, while Gwen leaves the room to go to the confessional.

in the episode where Gwen gets eliminated, it's Sierra who gets the boot due to a dual alliance involving Cody (with Alejandro likely at the head) who's just ready to have Sierra gone lmao. oh and Duncan and Gwen breakup.

When Blaineley arrives, there’s a slight rivalry between her and Bridgette due to Geoff hosting the Aftermath and Blaineley ‘snatching’ the spot—though Bridgette doesn’t mind a whole lot, it’s just Blaineley’s personality that irks her, plus she's annoyed on behalf of Geoff.

in Niagara Falls, things are still as rocky between the three as they were before. Duncan and Courtney get picked; I haven’t quite decided what to do for Blaineley; but Chris pairs up Alejandro and Noah, and Bridgette and Gwen by saying that Noah’s a twig and couldn’t pick anyone up anyway—a flimsy excuse but we all know Chris is playing matchmaker lmao. Anyway, the two go across the tightrope, Gwen carrying Bridgette bc if it’s the other way around, they’d be dead already. It’s awkward, until finally Bridgette can’t take it and asks Gwen what’s her deal, then is horrified at how rude that came out and apologizes vehemently. Gwen interrupts her with a fondly exasperated eye roll and laugh, and it’s the first genuine laugh Bridgette has heard from her in a while so she’s struck dumb staring up at her in her arms like oh. Gwen says ‘it’s for the best’ and Bridgette’s like ‘bullshit. We’re all suffocating under this unresolved tension, including you. Now what’s WRONG?!’ and she catches Gwen glancing at Courtney ahead of them, and puts together that Gwen likes Courtney; she’s saddened by this and assumes it’s bc Gwen likes her gf and nothing more; being the nice person she is, she hints at Gwen that if that's what they both want, she’d set them up and she thinks Courtney likes her too. Surprisingly, Gwen looks horrified at the notion but they don’t get a chance to discuss it bc they reach the end and are in second place. Cody gets booted.

Things are relatively the same in China as canon. Bridgette doesn’t eat animals so she dips pretty quickly and catches on that Courtney is cheating for Alejandro. She wants to keep quiet for Courtney, but seeing Alejandro get ahead infuriates her, and she blurts out that they’re cheating. In the end, Sierra wins and Blaineley gets booted along with Duncan, which he’s happy abt. However, there is now tension between Bridgette and Courtney heightened more so when Bridgette finds out how close of friends Courtney and Alejandro are. She tries to warn her, but Courtney says that Alejandro is the only one that seems to understand her. Thinking that’s a jab at her not being a good girlfriend, she retreats and broods, which is where Gwen finds her, and they talk and Gwen reveals that her relationship with Duncan was only for publicity and neither liked each other like that. They bond more, and Bridgette finds herself coming to the realization that she might harbor the same kind of feelings for Gwen as she does with Courtney. Shortly after Gwen leaves, Noah comes across her and they just sit together enjoying the silence of each other's company. Maybe Bridgette discusses the new revelation of her feelings with Noah as well as Geoff during one of her letters to him.

also similar to Geoff and his scrapbook photos, Gwen draws Bridgette and gives it to her bc that'd be adorable.

In Tanzania, due to her clumsy nature, Bridgette doesn't get many tranq balls. She gets hit in the head by a soccer ball and her thoughts are a little fuzzy--both Courtney and Gwen try to hurry over to her and both are taken aback by how in union they are in that moment. Bridgette only gets like two tranq balls (no matter how ticked off Courtney gets at Chris for accommodating for her injury), though with her friendship with Noah and when Gwen tags along, they have a small handful of tranq balls as a group. I haven’t quite figured out what happens here, but in the end, Noah gets eliminated.

Also with the help of Brody, Geoff, and maybe Noah, Bridgette comes to terms with her being into polyamorous relationships as well as monogamous. I can see her being v chill abt it, she doesn't panic abt it or overthink it like Gwen does.

Courtney's the last person to come to terms with this; she's so focused on winning the million that she doesn't give room for her feelings to be acknowledged until close to the end of the season.

Anyway, Courtney and Bridgette have a heart-to-heart after Tanzania, and Courtney apologizes for anything she's done/said that might have been hurtful; they reconcile, and cuddle it out. Alejandro wins immunity, but Courtney nudges him to allow Bridgette to join, and Bridgette pulls Gwen along, and for a half hour it's dead silent and awkward as all fuck, but then they put on a movie, and the four of them end up jumbled together, and Alejandro's sprawled on his chair; Bridgette, Gwen, and Courtney are in one giant pile, limbs over one another. In Easter Island, the subtle tension between Alejandro and Bridgette is finally acknowledged; Alejandro offers an alliance and apology, Bridgette declines. Worrying that this could mean him getting booted, Alejandro maybe does/says smth to Gwen abt Bridgette and/or Courtney to try to dent their bond. As a result, the quips Gwen and Bridgette share as they find their eggs are more barbed than usual and Bridgette is confused af—a jealous and protective Courtney alternates between tugging Bridgette along and quipping back at Gwen though both girls notice that while before, the heat of the words isn’t present, rn there are some barbs thrown that threaten the relationships. While in the caves, they get the whole story and reassurances are said. Bridgette wins the challenge by unloading all her eggs into the nest bc the condor saw her as unthreatening and she loves animals.

In Drumheller, when the plane explodes, Alejandro is the one to push Bridgette out of the line of impact, both as a last-minute genuine act of kindness and another gesture of apology. Bridgette feels terrible and forgives him; Alejandro is out of the game due to the explosion messing with his head and legs, and Chris is angry with the entire situation in general. So now it’s Gwen, Bridgette, and Courtney in the final three.

Bridgette uses her dormant weaving skills to make a hurried hot-air balloon to Hawaii. Now in a wheelchair, Alejandro offers her words of encouragement before heading over to Courtney to see if she wanted to help—Alejandro and Courtney's friendship is obv gonna remain intact. After the stand-off between Courtney and Gwen, where Courtney was supposed to be voted off for whatever reason if the plane hadn’t exploded, Gwen storms off and ends up on the train. (Bridgette votes for Alejandro bc she didn’t want to offend either girl). Courtney fashions a hang-glider, although she lands on the train when her glider can’t sustain itself and her. She and Gwen duet ‘I’m Gonna Make It’ on top of the train while Bridgette tacks along above.

They land on the beach together, Bridgette half on top of Gwen and Courtney; Gwen and Courtney on each other; all of them in a tangle of bodies. Unlike after Tanzania, they don’t move away quickly, instead savoring the time close to each other.

I’m still deciding who’s gonna be in the final two. Either Courtney and Bridgette or Courtney and Gwen with Bridgette being one of their helpers 😅 as for certain characters and eliminations and stuff I want to do for certain episodes, I’m still ironing the details out so hopefully I didn’t confuse you with my seesaw decisions lmaoo

What I do know is that there’ll be tension and awkwardness, confessions, and a group hug at the end. And kissing. Lots of that. And Gwen realizing that it’s okay to like/want to be in a relationship with more than one person—especially if both parties like her back. Oh yeah, and no volcano eruption too.

and possibly some v side duntrent hints from when they remeet in London before Duncan's nabbed by the girls??

Everyone in the SSA knew you loved all things Mickey Mouse.

Hell, you even incorporated it into your uniform, with your cap sporting Mickey ears and your Mickey-themed bag complete with keychains and pins. You also had a little plush of the mouse on your desk.

It was a dream come true to work at the abandoned Treasure Island. You basically got paid to study your favorite character!

Even if the various toons, suits, and mascots weren’t exactly carbon copies of him..you still cared for them a lot, never being afraid of them.

Photo Negative Mickey was the first one you met, and he likes your style.

He still tries to creep you out with his “head coming off” trick, but when you got trapped on the island, he doesn’t really wanna kill you. And he’ll insist you’re spared.

Undying was one you were especially excited to see.

You reassure him you’re not scared bc he reminds you of those mascots you used to take pictures with.

Unfortunately you have no idea he’s a person trapped inside one, though you still befriend him nevertheless.

The same goes for the Mascot PNM. Although unlike Undying, he tried attacking you with his mallet until you grabbed your Mickey plushie to shield(?) yourself and he stops, realizing you’re the human his toon counterpart spoke of.

So it’s a rocky start, but two you become good friends after that.

Willie was similarly hostile in the beginning. He saw your keychain of his steamboat and accused you of stealing it, taking your bag and running off into the forest.

It took you forever to chase him down, though once you found him it was only then you realized...he just wanted the keychain.

As much as you hated to sacrifice your merch, seeing his smile when you handed it to him made it okay with you.

During all of this, Mother’s kept a close eye on you, but seeing you make her children happy shows that your intentions are good. So she’ll stay off your tail for a while.

first things first: obv everyone is entitled to their onions and headcanons, im not coming for the person i saw post abt heisuke not being gay or an ally, and they're allowed to feel and share their opinions abt queer hakuouki takes. i prefer not to make them feel attacked so pls dont go trying to find their post and responding to it just bc you see this. esp bc for all i know, other people feel the same way about heisuke !!! i just want to clear up these rumors abt him ok ! xD

-photo one: taken directly from EB, this one line from Sannan not only points out that the rest of the shinsengumi crew is so close and valuable to heisuke that even others view them as "his pack" aka his family, but also showcases the moment that heisuke has gone far out of his way to be here to confront Sannan with relationship to his previous bond to Sannan, and his current bonds to the shinsengumi and chizuru. even if we pretend that heisuke isn't gay in some way (he is) of course he would also view his queer friends with the same loving ferocity and defend them with his life. if anything he is one of the most all for one, one for all, protective and loving shinsengumi members of the bunch.

my favorite byler moment is the rain fight hands down. it's THEEEE byler moment to end all byler moments undeniably n irrefutably. the only ones that come close are the shed scene and the dear billy bedroom talk because it reaffirms the shed scene speech. i love the rain fight though bc mike asks him if he really thought they would be together forever without girlfriends and will, even as his heart has been shattered into a million pieces at "it's not my fault you don't like girls," he still says yes. i did. i really did.

and then, after moping and complaining and being totally unsure of how to make up with el, he does EXACTLY what max said mike would do for her, for will. he doesn't need lucas to walk him through it, he does it of his own volition instinctively. not for his girlfriend... but for will. literally bikes across town in the pouring rain!!! the romance film antics of it all...

and then!! we get will crying in castle byers while memories are overlayed that focus on mike's voice and then will tears a photo of them right down the middle. like...... it's just... SO MUCH? will not backing down and saying he DID want forever with mike? and then in s4 he repeats the same thing that mike threw in his face? which could suggest that it's something they've dreamed abt before everything got complicated & suggests will is still always true to himself? and mike chasing after will, breaking his own heart, too, because the fact of the matter is he NEVER wanted to lose will and yet he feels that he's pulling away from him anyway and there's nothing he can do to stop it, even with all of his calls that never even go through. i just. AHHHH!!! i mean, season two in general made me kinda 👀🏳️‍🌈⁉️ bc even though we're shown that mike is the biggest sweetheart, the care that he showed will was just special. and entirely over the top and reckless and dogged (ahem "only love makes you that crazy sweetheart and that damn stupid") just like in s1. and saying he was the best thing he'd ever done? insanity. i thought even with the snowball that they were headed in that direction but then season three came and punched me in the tit so i lost all hope lol.

BUT THEN !!!!!!!!!!!! s4 came and revived me with a defibrillator. the hug threw me off bc i was like oh my godddddddd DON'T TELL ME THIS BOY IS BACK ON HIS MF BULLSHIT BRO PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE but then. dear lord. WHEN HE GOT ALL WEIRD ABT THE PAINTING? i know a gay when i see one, bro. he had no reason to be weird abt the painting if not gay. AND THEN THE RINK-O-MANIA FIGHT? WE'RE FRIENDS! WE'RE. FRIENDS. haven’t done these in a long while bc i stopped playing wobbledogs for like a month and a half but here are some of my favorite dogs i made this weekend!

this is suzie (brown body and yellow / pink head) and nip (yellow body and green heads) and they are besties who are also in love! suzie turned pink in adulthood bc she is blushing hehe :D suzie is descended from cub (a dog in one of my last posts) and idk who nip came from but i love him. one time suzie was flipped upside down on her back like a turtle and nip came over to try to turn her right side up again! they stuck very very close together all thru their lives which was very cute bc ive never seen dogs bond like that before!

this is ralphy and he is perpetually angry (antagonistic, unpettable, and food averse 😍👍). i forget what it was exactly that pissed him off (i think he like tripped over a piece of food or something as a puppy?) but he was angry literally for the rest of his life and nothing i did calmed him down. i tried praising him, scolding him, giving him toys, making him do commands, making him watch tv, mutating him, putting him in a zero gravity room… nothing. i ended up just storing him bc he was starting to make ME angry but i do appreciate his determination lol

this is shnitzel and as you can see they lived a very hard life. i don’t have any good pics of them unglitched but they were stuck in this deeply disturbing fold for much of their life bc they had two heads that were way bigger than their body which was a lot shorter and smaller than them. i ended up storing them and then bringing them out into a zero gravity room so that they would never glitch again but sadly they lived the rest of their life in isolation 😞

this is oinge!! i just really like how it looks hehe… its biggest accomplishment in life was being a very good digger after a lot of dogs who just didn’t care abt digging at all — it created some dens and also unearthed some seeds and toys!

this is chug jug (named while i was singing chug jug with you w the background music of the game while creating him lol). chug jug was pretty normal throughout his youth but when he became an adult his final mutation included becoming a deeply cursed and depraved individual. his head kept twisting on his neck (see pictured). he kept deliberately walking into walls. and worst of all… i opened the game to see him appearing to h*mp another dog. SICK and twisted.

MEET VICTORY ROYALE (who i mentioned previously bc IT WAS BC OF THEM that i got the one winged angel achievement thereby beating the game!!!!)! i also named them while singing chug jug with you and just casually trying to create a ratboy genius looking dog for the hell of it without attempting to get that achievement and when i saw victory royale my jaw genuinely dropped. fun fact they actually DO have two wings but both of them are on the same side (bc they have the double wings mutation) which is rly cool bc i was wondering if dogs like that still give u the achievement and it turns out to be true! victory royale didn’t have a very notable life but they started a trend and im excited to see their future descendants :~D

say hi to queeky!!! they’re my first dog w unsynced ears and i find them so endearing. i liked her coloring in her youth better (she was brown with a darker green body) but the magenta looks cool on them too! i wish i could add more pics on mobile i got such a cool photo from when she was a puppy of their double tail wrapped around their body w one tail on either side

AND FINALLY…. THE GIRL EVER…. MEET FAIRYBREAD!!!!! i am OBSESSED w this girl though i do wish her eyes had been a different shape and her colors hadn’t gotten so saturated as an adult… oh well. she is very cool and i love her :~D

I want to talk about Ko Yu Rim and Na Hee Do's friendship bc i only see posts about Baek Yi Jin and Na Hee Do and how they are soulmates, best friends and lovers who didn't have to break up. I don't agree, i just dont. Sure i do think they would have been happy together if they managed to talk it out and somehow managed to make more time for each other. But that's for another post (i say as if I'm ever making another post.)

Anyways, Yurim and Heedo. Their story is very beautiful i think. Its because Heedo is just a fan at first and Yurim seems to hate her. But in the end they become friends and eventually rivals and best friends (i see them as best friends.)

Their story starts when they compete against each other when they're young. Heedo wins and Yurim uses this competition as a motivation for her entire career basically. She becomes the best in the hopes of competing against Heedo again and winning this time. But Heedo never makes it that far into the competitions bc she's not good enough.

Then Heedo becomes a fan or Yurim and Heedo somehow with a lot of effort transfers schools but her idol seems to hate her. We later learn that this is not because she thinks Heedo is a nobody but because she knows exactly who Heedo is.

They also happen to already have been talking through anonymous emails. They shared things with each other that they couldnt share with anyone else.

As Heedo gets better at fencing they become proper rivals. Rivals who are also friends, on the same team, support each other, love each other, care about each other, have fun with each other, help each other out like when Yurim changed her nationality and all the reporters were outside.

I think Yurim and Heedo have a special relationship because they are the only two people they know who really understood each other's struggles when it came to fencing and the fame. Like when Yurim went to Russia and the reporters twisted her words, Heedo understood. Heedo never thought that Yurim spoke badly about her. Heedo knew Yurim must have been going through the same struggles as her. The entire country is pressuring her. "If you don't win you're a traitor too" is what they said about her. It's cruel. Yurim was alone in a foreign country, marked a traitor in Korea, the reporters twisted her words and she doesnt want to face Heedo after that article.

The national competition between Heedo and Yurim is so emotional because they're so close. You don't want either of them to lose because you know about both of their struggles and they both deserved to win.

You can really see how close they got when they run from the reporters who want to ask about Yurim changing her nationality. They take photos, they eat out, Yurim stands up for herself to get her food, something she has learned to do because of Heedo.

Ive seen people say that Heedo ends up alone and while she doesnt have Baek Yijin anymore, she is not alone. Who is there with her when she retires? It's Yurim. And they hug again, like they did that day after the competition.

Yurim has a fencing club teaching kids fencing. I'm sure people didnt expect she would retire so soon but who says you need to be an athlete to still be involved with fencing? Heedo retires because fencing and winning isnt as fun anymore. She's done this for 20 years, fair enough. She's allowed to get bored of it. They both seem happy and that's what's important.

I dont know if i made sense. I just really love all these characters and their friendships and how they all made memories. Thats really what this whole show is about, making memories and not forgetting them when you grow older.

(For the ask game) I have a couple of OCs, but I’ll do Dove since she’s my favorite girl :3 Dove is kind, hardworking (sometimes too much), affectionate (once she knows someone well), and teasing when she wants to be. She is from Texas originally, bilingual, and loves spicy foods and Tex-Mex food. She enjoys photography, journaling, and being in nature (especially if the weather is nice and cool). And she secretly(?) has a thing for slightly evil people *cough* John Seed lol. There’s probably more info but this is all I could think of for now haha XD

First off I love her she sounds incredible 🥺💕 And she has wonderful taste in awful (affectionate) men <3

Okay so immediately I think on a surface level Heather would like her, simply because it sounds like they have a lot in common with the hard-working nature, being from Texas and enjoying journalling! They'd at least have a lot to talk about and bond over.

Heather struggles with friendships in general and Dove seems like a sweet person which is exactly the type of people Heather struggles with the most, if Dove likes evil people like John though maybe she'll be able to deal with Heathers attitude and once Heather realises she's not gonna be put off by her real personality she'll dub her the highest honor of actual friendship.

The only other problem that could arise is Heather obviously hates John and can't trust anyone close to him, but aside from that I think they could be good friends!

Piper would love Dove, she loves camping, hiking and being outdoors and she would love to have someone to do that with! She'd also enjoy how affectionate and teasing Dove is, Pip loves people she can bear hug whenever and have inside jokes with. (She would be the type to send Dove personalised memes at 3am). It's also very likely she'd get a big fat crush on her at some point because pretty women are just her weakness but she's also a lil coward so she'd never say anything about it and just be thankful to have a friend (seeing as despite being pretty laid back she can be a bit intense for some people and doesn't have many!). I think they could have a very chill, goofy kind of friendship tbh!

Anya, as you may or may not know, is a huge lesbian and when you put a hard-working, funny woman in front of her with interesting hobbies she will fall in love. She's also socially inept though so again, never admitting it—BUT, she would go out of her way to ask Dove about her hobbies and interests. She may struggle to share her own at first as she's very closed off and secretive but she's good at telling when people are honest and genuine and I think she'd see that in Dove and be more willing to tell her about herself. Anya also loves nature and she'd be more than happy to explore some of Hope County with Dove, she's great at picnics and will bring a bouquet along too because she can't help herself. (Dove may have to expand Anya's food palette tho bc her tastes are BLAND, like a pinch of paprika would kill her probably, help her).

Dean is the Golden retriever boy who befriends anyone whose nice to him for two seconds so i'd say he'd like Dove from the get go ajsjsjsj No but he'd definitely vibe with her personality and enjoy her company I think! He is touch starved so an ounce of affection would earn Dove his undying loyalty just sayin AND AGAIN outdoorsy man (I swear not all of my oc's our outdoor ppl this is a coincidence ajsjdjd) so he'd be thrilled to hang out in the wilderness and watch her take photos and if she gets tired piggy back rides are on the table! He also loves spicy foods and would always offer to cook for her btw his love language is feeding people and making them their fave drinks. He's pretty happy and laid back when there's not a cult takeover happening so I think they could definitely get along in the pre-reaping era (and they both have they same taste in evil cult men, tho Dean is super in denial abt it for a long time </3).

one thing yn is gonna be is oblivious . she was clueless up until joon telling her that she was being annoying with the whole ditching them for taehyung thing . so if something was to go down between them ., she wouldn't hesitate to go running to her friends nd like not even think twice abt the fact that she's been neglecting them for the past week . nd we already know jin is not w the shits ., he made it clear that his only objective this summer is to have a good time nd be stress free . he's not gonna entertain her the way that she'd want (not like he'd leave her out to dry ., but he's not stepping out of his way to fix her drama) . we're not even gonna mention hoseok bc if it's not abt yoongi he's not interested - nd joon is more done with her than every right now . it's great that she has her best friend again nd that she wants to spend time w him ., but the fact that she knows nOTHING that's been going on w her new friends in the past week is a little wild .

taehyung tho !! he knew exactly what he was doing when he was calling yn while she was out with namjoon . he knows yn well ., so he knows that he doesn't have to explicitly ask her to come back just say that he's missing her nd she'd be rushing over to him . nd that's exactly what he did . it's lowkey manipulative ., but it's covered by the fact that he genuinely wants to spend time w her (in favor of her spending less time with joon) . he's so used to being the only person in her life nd never having to fight for her attention that he doesn't know how to deal with that not being the case . nd he definitely doesn't like the thought of competing for it . nd he highkey knows that's not smth he has to do bc yn will always have a soft spot from him .

(nd it's definitely safe to say he's learned this behavior from dealing with his father . the codependency with yn has everything to do w the fact that she was his entire comfort system growing up . nd the way he goes abt getting what he wants is a direct factor of how he's dealt with things w his parents . he definitely has a lot of work to do within himself before him nd yn are getting a happily ever after ) .

honestly i used to have the worst confidence when i started working in customer service, i used to cry whenever someone was even slightly frustrated, but now when someone insults me on the phone, i have the power to hang up on them and i LOVE it <3 i think some customers do think "oh if i'm awful to them, they will cave and give me what i want" but actually when you are an angel to me, i will love you forever <333 i do the same, i always compliment them or tell them to have a nice day :) sending u good vibes !!

i kinda feel like that was exactly how txt were shown as </3 soobin & yeonjun are typically favoured more than the rest of the group while the other three—i feel—were ignored </3 it definitely feels a little bit different now but it used to be so obvious that gyu, taehyun and kai were not as popular :(

OH MY GOD HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT 🥰 yes, dr. reid is my ABSOLUTE favourite. what's not to like? 😭 i love the friendship between penelope & derek. i used to want them to be a couple but after a while, i thought they were definitely better off as friends bc they would lose that part of their friendship that we all love </3 i actually only got into it fairly recently, like a few months ago. my s/o and i were needing something to watch together and he suggested it. but now i'm hooked :/ because it's something we watch together, neither of us watch it without the other so we typically only get through two eps a night (though one day we managed 10 episodes) :( we haven't watched any since wednesday :(

i was like OH MY GOD, but i can get to know the person like i would if i wasn't their secret santa <3 it is !! they are really lovely :) (i'm doing a twice one as well but the chatting is optional and they seem to be quiet busy which is okay <33) i read through the messages like four times to make sure everything is okay :)

I ALSO LOVE CATS I HAVE TWO 🌷 i will definitely show you photos of them when i can!!!! they are my LOVES, i adore them so much 💎 they are toffee & luna. toffee is ginger & white and luna is a calico so she is black, white and a little ginger but luna can't meow, she just squeaks. we thought it was concerning that after a year she couldn't meow, but the vet said it's completely normal and it happens <3 toffee is two and luna will be two in june 💘 i hope your apartment allows cats, i could not live without a cat <33

how did i know about dr reid? 🥰 I'M A MAGICIAN that's why lmao no but i feel like he's one of the fan favourites along with prentiss. at least, from what i remember? i do like the character (dr reid). i just like how he sees things from a logical point of view and how sometimes his opinion clashes with that of others (who might view things a little bit more emotionnally). once again, i think this was the case in the first seasons. idr when i stopped watching so things might have changed after that. also, his relationship with his mother is very interesting. and, seeing as the same actress played sue from glee gave me a lot of (both) EmoTionAl and bRaIn damage sigh i completely forgot i talked about penelope and derek lol thankfully, you weren't there during the fmvs era. little old me (14-15?) thought those (fmvs) were like compilations of their moments together. how do i tell you that i have damaged and traumatized my brain by watching one of those? 😭 </3 at least, whenever i see fmv somewhere, i know to NEVER EVER AGAIN click on the video!!! and the fact that you're watching the show with your s/o is so cute :( i hope you both enjoy the rest of it. let me know if you want to talk about something. i'm all ears ;)
