Bambi-sexual flag

Definition of bambi-sexual

Bambi-sexual, also spelled bambisexual or simply shortened to bambi, is a term for people who prefer nonsexual touch over sexual touch. The term originated in the 1980s or earlier.

The term was featured in The Alyson Almanac, which was originally published in 1989, with its second edition published the following year. In The Alyson Almanac, the following definition was given:

BAMBI-SEXUALITY. Physical interaction centered more about touching, kissing, and caressing than around genital sexuality.

Bambi-sexuality is often associated with lesbians (i.e. bambi lesbians), but is not exclusive to them. The term can be used by straight people, gay men, nonbinary people, aromantic people, and people of any other orientation and gender, so long as there is a preference for nonsexual touch.

Bambi-sexual people may or may not be additionally interested in sex. Bambi-sexuality also may or may not be an asexual/ace-spec sexuality, depending on the individual.

Explanation behind the flag

I based the colors on Bambi, from the 1942 Disney film by the same name. Each stripe also has its own additional meaning.

Yellow represents light and/or nonsexual forms of touch

Orange represents energy, joy, and warmth

Red represents nonsexual passion and intimacy

Purple brown represents asexual and ace-spec bambis

Yellow is a light color, which feels fitting to represent touch which does not involve genital contact, as genital touch/sex is often associated with darkness (dim lights, nighttime, etc). The lightness of the yellow can also allude to touch which is, in and of itself, considered a "light" form of touch, such as gentle caressing.

Orange commonly represents energy, joy, and warmth. This stripe highlights some of the positive emotions that can come with physical intimacy, whether of a sexual nature or not.

Red is commonly depicted as a fiery, passionate color. It is often used to represent things like love, sex, and intimacy. In this case, this is nonsexual passion and intimacy.

Purple brown represents asexual and ace-spec bambis because purple is commonly used to represent asexuality, and there is a lot of overlap between asexuality and bambi-sexuality. Some consider bambi-sexuality to be somewhat of a precursor to asexuality; people who identify as asexual now may have identified as bambi-sexual a few decades ago. While I'm not asexual/ace-spec myself (I'm just a bambi), I felt that this was important to include.

On a similar note, I decided to use only four stripes, specifically so it would look good/blend well with the asexual flag, due to the overlap in communities and identities.

Bambisexual flag

There is already a bambisexual flag here, but I wanted to make one anyways in the same style as my other bambi flags.

Its meaning is similar to my other flags, The four brown/white stripes are for deer, with the white stripe also representing trans and nonbinary people. The light orange stripe is for nonsexual sensual acts. The sixth brown stripe is just an in-between color. The last desaturated dark brown stripe is for a-spec. Not all bambisexual people are a-spec of course, but they're related and some are a-spec.

I considered just making both sides be mirrored, it looked too much like a gender flag to me though. So I figured making the bottom half still have a similar color palette, while also being different, would work best.

I'm open to editing it if anyone thinks something should be changed.

Today I learned about Bambi lesbians and Faline gays.

They're respectively lesbians and gays who prefer sensual things (like cuddling and kissing) over sexual things, if they like sexual things at all. Here are their respective flags (respectively by @wuvsbian and this person):

I was interested! Thus, I decided to coin a nonbinary equivalent called...

Ronnbinary!

Basically, it's an adjective that refers to a nonbinary ACESPEC who prefers sensuality to sexuality! You'd say, "I am Ronnbinary," or "that is a Ronnbinary person." The noun version is Ronnby! Generally, it would accompany another sexuality label (like "Ronnbinary pan", for example), but it doesn't have to! It can also accompany another gender label (for example, if I'm Ronnbinary, I would say that I'm a Ronnbinary maverique).

Why that word? Where'd I get it from? It's a combination of Ronno + nonbinary! The other named fawn besides Bambi and Faline in the movies is called Ronno (Faline gay comes from Faline, the love interest of Bambi and Ronno). He's the second movie's main antagonist by being a dick to Bambi and trying to steal his girl. Here are Bambi, Faline, and Ronno:

Anyway, I figured I ought to make a new flag to accompany my new term! Below is the Ronnbinary flag I whipped up, which uses the colors from Ronno's palette!

Bambi flags :D !

I originally just wanted to edit the bambi lesbian flag to include orange, like in the sunset lesbian flag, and ended up making others too. As such, all of these flags are based off of / inspired by the original bambi lesbian flag.

The colors meanings are pretty simple. The brown stripes and white stripe are for deer (or other animals like squirrels and foxes). The white stripe also represents trans and nonbinary people. And the last 3 stripes are taken from the respective orientation flags, and represent those. (Though I've simplified the amount of stripes/colors for some, that's not to take away from any meanings.)

I think these turned out pretty nice. I might make some more versions.
