It’s Carly Tingle’s big day, the release of her first traditionally published horror novel, Camp Damascus. Unfortunately, Carly’s having trouble enjoying this moment as fear and chaos begin to swirl around her. She wants the book to do well, of course, but it slowly becomes apparent there’s more to Carly’s ambition than meets the eye.

hey there buckaroos i would like to use today to talk on something that is very important to me. i have talked a lot about my journey as a bud on the autism spectrum, and about how I LOVE BEING AUTISTIC.

my story on the spectrum is not a struggle. my way was diagnosed in early twenties, but because of way of masking VERY FEW BUCKAROOS WOULD EVEN NOTICE. it has given me ability to hyper focus and get large amounts of writing done, to find creative ideas neurotypical buds might miss, and to have a unique perspective on life on this timeline.

HOWEVER as man name of chuck my pride in this way used to make me uncomfortable, thinkin i should not share my story. there are many buds on this spectrum who have a MUCH harder time than chuck, and i want to respect the VERY IMPORTANT AND VERY REAL struggles of my fellow autistic buckaroos. for long time i did not feel like it was my place to share and say ‘personally, i wouldnt change my autistic trot for anything. i think being autistic is very cool’

but as tingleverse got more fans and buckaroos started listening to my words more i started thinking: THIS is an opportunity to prove love. part of the reason i am PROUD of my spectrum way is because FIRST INTERACTION with idea of this trot (was called aspergers way back then) was to realize that ALL MY HEROS were on this spectrum: david byrne of band TALKING HEADS being number one.

my FIRST INTERACTION with this idea was not ‘whoa this is tragic’ it was ‘whoa the coolest buckaroo on the PLANET is the same as me’

POINT IS i have been on this timeline a while now and now i am in this position myself. i can be the one buckaroos see when they learn this about themselves and think: WOW LOOK AT THIS WILD ARTIST I ADMIRE BREAKING THE NORMS AND CHARTING A NEW TROT THROUGH THIS TIMELINE WE ARE BOTH AUTISTIC THIS IS THE HECKIN COOLEST

most of the characters i write are probably a little on the spectrum because they are comin from inside chucks head. i look back and notice this and laugh, but other than a single tingler i rare actually OUTRIGHT SAY this character is autistic. i decided that FIRST BIG HORROR NOVEL WITH A TRADITIONAL PUBLISHER was a good time to change this. while i write erotica most of the time which means NO YOUNG BUCKAROOS ALLOWED, horror is a little different. buckaroos young and old can read CAMP DAMASCUS and think ‘i see myself in this autistic hero and I FEEL COOL’

EVEN WRITING THIS NOW makes me get teary eyed and emotional, because these feelings of belonging and positive representation were SO IMPORTANT to me. i would not be trotting here without these autistic heroes, and now i have been given the chance to create one of my own with CAMP DAMASCUS and WITH MYSELF just by being chuck and talking openly about my joyful, exciting, artistic trot on the spectrum.

But it’s not his fault he’s a hopeless romantic.

summary: It's about love, babey! Beau tries to navigate all the different types of love in his life -- romantic, sexual, platonic, familial, communal, self -- as he leans into relationships, even the unhealthy ones, to try to cope with the death of his best friend Bobby, who Beau took care of whilst he was sick for two years. Told with a dual timeline showing those two years as Beau processes it. It's about being messy and confused and trying to understand how to move forward when the biggest part of your life is now gone. It's about being in love with your best friend but like platonically and also your best friend is dead. It's about queer sex and grief and caretaking and the AIDS crisis. Beau is also obsessed with horror movies and is definitely autistic but doesn't know it. Bobby loved volcanoes and mountains, acrylic painting, David Cronenberg movies and also The Muppets (his fave was Gonzo btw). If you want to know more I have a more detailed WIP intro and also the tag where I post way too long excerpts!

status: 16,391 words into the first draft, but that's been writing whenever/whatever I want rather than a consistent routine

my goal?: get a consistent drafting routine LOL. Word count wise I'd like 15k to basically double it, but we will see! Would love to write everyday at least though.

I haven't done taglists in a while buuuut if people are doing camp nano taglists? That could be fun? This story is so sad but sometimes it is so silly and fun. If you like stories where the grief and joy hold hands then this might be for you !!

Tomorrow won’t be the day either.” “I don’t think it will.” Beau thinks, at this moment, that he kissed the top of Bobby’s head, or he whispered one into his hair, pressed his cheek into it. At least, that’s how he remembers, or how he wants to. “I don’t think it will be the day for a while.” What Beau remembers: Bobby, still quiet, his breathing slowed. But still awake. How he moved closer, and Beau held him tighter. Sometimes Beau believed that if he just held onto Bobby tighter it would somehow lengthen the time between now and the day, that the universe would sense their closeness and not dare to sever it. All if Beau just held him closer, heartbeat to heartbeat. It was so dark in the room, the moonlight a thin sheet behind the curtains; just them and their bodies, their breaths. And he thinks he remembers Bobby smiling, that he felt it or even sensed it, the presence of something happy, something that, for a moment, let itself be hopeful. “Your heartbeat is so relaxing,” he said. “I love that you sleep like Dracula.”

Mobox literally tried to make Kev a STALKER out of that. Kev only went to moboxs house because Kev was in a abusive household. Moboxs mum ALLOWED Kev to sleep over.

Mobox isn't the only person who's gone through abuse, she says she wants to help abused victims when she's harassed 13-17 year olds over them having similar OCs to hers. Just because mobox is traumatized doesn't mean she can make years worth of comics that romanticise abuse and rape AND transphobia (she's literally cishet).

Her fans literally simp for Austrabhos in her discord server and mobox is just fine with it)

These guys really believe anything without evidence. blog introduction!

hello! finally, after a long time of wanting to, i finally decided to make a blog! as i am still planning and putting everything together, i thought that i may as well post an introduction post!

my main focus for this blog likely will be for writing some original work and mainly fanfic writing, talking about and analyzing literature (i may make a separate blog for this), and chronic illness/disability content!

my inspiration to create this came from my longtime longing to write and share my own work as i have been an avid reader, especially of fanfics, and i have many, many, ideas living in my head. i originally started planning out a few (a lot) of multi chapter stories, both fanfics and original work/ideas, and i had everything planned out thoroughly, however since i had never committed to writing something to that extent, i thought where best to start than with one-shots and short stories!

besides the writing, i also was inspired to post about and make content about chronic illness and disability as it is something that i live with and is a big part of my life, and when i first started my “journey” of learning how to live with these things, i felt very alone and craved to have somewhere where i could relate and feel less alone in my experiences, so my hope with this blog is to be a place and resource to do such a thing that i, and likely many others would seek out.

about the person behind the blog!

you can call me mae, and my pronouns are she/her! i am seventeen years old, and in the future, i would love to peruse research, with my main goal/dream being to go to medical school to become a doctor!

i am chronically ill, and have (unofficial diagnosis) hypermobile-ehlers danlos syndrome (hEDS), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and due to what we think was caused by prolonged physical pain and emotional trauma, i have developed central sensitization and fibromyalgia, which is a neurological disorder that essentially means my central nervous system amplifies and sends incorrect signals to my body.

i am neurodivergent, and have adhd, and i also highly suspect that i am autistic, however i am unable to get a diagnosis. i also struggle with mental illnesses, and have depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, anorexia (in recovery!), and cptsd.

despite being sick, i have always been highly ambitious, and (when my health permits/permitted it) i have picked up many hobbies and interests! some of these hobbies/interests include sports, and i played soccer for years, did badminton at school for a little while, went to a basketball camp (which i did not like), and my current sport being riding horses, though i had to temporarily pause until my health allows it again, but when i can handle it i will definitely be getting back into riding! i have also picked up and attempted to learn a few instruments, some being with my schools band, and others i picked up on my own, including clarinet, saxophone (tried both tenor and alto, but preferred and more so stuck to tenor), piano, and guitar!

i also love reading, educating myself on pretty much anything i possibly can, but especially science related things, writing, poetry, baking, gardening, photography, knitting (attempting to) and crocheting, sewing, and would also love to get into pottery!

i am a huge animal lover! in my life, i have had hamsters, guinea pigs, a bunny, and dogs! and now currently i have 3 adorable rats, and i also have a cat who is my pride and joy lol. in the future if my lifestyle permits it, i would love to have more animals, and would also love to rescue and foster!

i love listening to music, with some (but not limited to) of my favourite artists being david bowie, the smiths, hozier, taylor swift, phoebe bridgers, tv girl, mac demarco, mitski, and big thief! (inspo for some of my writing)

Ok ok ok so hear me out on all of these!

Shroomy most definitely would like watching the old silly whimsical cartoons like Mickey Mouse or Looney Tunes.. I could see him turning the cartoons on for the kids, but also watching them cause he really loves them as well.

Human Shroomy would have freckles and be a red head! Also he'd probably wear multiple bandages to show that he has got hurt.. Especially after the bear incident..

Shroomy probably still sleeps with plushies. Not only am I saying this cause he had a plushie in his room in "Mario's Valentine's Advice" but also cause he seems like the type of guy to own several plushies as a grown adult and sleep with them.

I headcanon him as autistic. I could see him owning a little rainbow infinity symbol keychain. It'd probably fit better as a badge, but being autistic isn't really an accomplishment.. It's something you kinda struggle with, but it's also what makes you you! I feel he'd have the keychain because he wants people to know that he's autistic.

Remember how he has a cat..? They don't ever show up again but he definitely has a cat... I'm thinking he used to have a cat but he leaves the pictures up cause he really misses them. He's also not extremely phased over his cat's death because obviously he's a really positive guy. I'm also picturing his cat's name to be something campfire related. I think that'd be really cute. Like Smoky or something.... Maybe he named his cat after Smokavich?

Him and Rob are definitely the holiday duo. I mean listen... they're always next to eachother in holiday specials. They probably love talking about their favorite holiday traditions, what food they eat on Christmas/Thanksgiving/New Years, etc. Betting you they also had matching Halloween outfits one year that'd be really wholesome. I could kinda see them going with a "The Wizard Of Oz" outfit theme. Rob as the scarecrow obviously, and maybe Shroomy dressed up as the wicked witch. Cause I could see him wanting to try being scary but also keep his silliness.

Shroomy has a phone but barely uses it because he's not chronically online. He only uses it to call his friends and family. He probably has his aunt and uncle as contacts on his phone, but his uncle probably deleted Shroomy's contact meanwhile Shroomy is still trying to get his attention. He's thinking maybe "oh uncle Doom is probably only ignoring me a little bit! Nothing too big!" but no he deleted his contact without telling him... I'd also love to think that Shroomy gave his aunt and uncle silly little emojis next to their names.

Shroomy loves all food, but is smart enough to know when to stop eating certain foods. I got this headcanon idea from the fact he always seems so joyous when eating food and literally lived in the Luncheon Kingdom at one point iirc..... He's just like me fr fr!

Shroomy's absolute favorite show of all time is "Camp Camp", and his favorite character is David (obviously)! He's singing the lyrics to the theme song and is sometimes quoting David. He's also trying to get Karen into the show because he thinks she'd relate to Gwen.

Shroomy's phone homescreen would definitely be of a camp, meanwhile his lockscreen would probably be of him and Smokavich with a symbol representing the scouts in the background.

Shroomy, Karen, Bob, and Hal Monitor are always matching profile pictures because Shroomy thinks it's fun and silly. Shroomy made them do it..,, He didn't force them but he really wanted them to match with him!

Shroomy owns a swear jar (I think that'll be really funny)...

Shroomy most definitely watches Wander Over Yonder... Like I'm sorry but Wander is way too much like Shroomy.., it's so silly..! /pos

way too many camp camp headcanons? why not

part four: space kid space kid space kid spac

(hes one of my favorite little guys ok have some headcanons for him)

sk bites his nails when anxious, usually after some sort of a nightmare

speaking of nightmares, he has them fairly often, because i enjoy giving characters i like a lot of angst

his favorite fast food place is mcdonalds. no matter how many times hes told that the food there is probably made of radioactive waste, he still loves the chicken nuggets there

as an adult he'll be about 5'2, maximum

did someone say angst? his parents are on the brink of divorce and due to that, inadvertantly end up neglecting him emotionally and sometimes physically (ie. forgetting to take him to school, cook meals, do laundry, etc). (sprung from him saying "minute man? mommy calls daddy that when they argue" and the scene in after hours where he says his mom told him to get used not to seeing him, because in space they won't be able to call)

space kid is in honors math, to the surprise of most.

space kid has a dog named Laika and a cat named Félicette, both of who named after the first dog and cat respectively to enter space

his uncle babysits him a lot

space kid's room is filled with

space kid has glow in the dark stars on his room, but they're just dots and organized in such a way by him that it matches up to his favorite constellations in their respective parts in the sky

sk likes the plain white ts, taylor swift, and bruno mars, probably because his mom listened to them a lot when he was younger

space kid still enjoys cars, though it was more of a brief hyperfixation. he still has a few car toys scattered around his room, though

space kid doesnt take anything anyone else says to heart, mostly because hes aware at how minuscule it all really is in comparison to the infinite universe and how large it all is. when he thinks about that, the things people say to him dont matter. he focuses on the there and the now, not dwelling on the past or future, just being happy with whatever he does and focusing on that, no matter how he might look doing it

he is very dumb and gulible though. there isnt a thought in his head. his braincells are like the bouncing dvd screensaver and every time it hits the edge he has a thought

space kid has a panda stuffed animal and a polar bear stuffed animal that he calls ursa major and ursa minor

space kid has a weighted space blanket that he cant sleep without

he has an allergy to shellfish. its random but i feel he'd have it

sk felt bad for max when he was made fun of for his stuffed bear, so space kid went in his tent with his own stuffed animals and offered to play to make max feel better. max obviously declined, but the sentiment was sweet and something max didnt forget for a while.

space kid has a strong sense of unclouded morls. he sees something bad happen, he doesnt like it. however in order to have those morals, he needs to know whats going on, and its very easy to manipulate him into not seeing the truth in whats happening

sk tries to see the good in everyone, much like david

sk called gwen mom and david dad on multiple occasions. whenever he does, he gets a little glare from max. he doesnt get why

So Misha said they don’t have to be live action portrayals so there’s a mix in here! This was also SUPER HARD TO CHOOSE so for the record these aren’t so much ranked as they are a nebulous cloud of a top 5

Kevin Conroy in B:TAS/TNBA/JL. This was probably pretty predictable. Come on. He’s first voice I hear in my head while thinking about Batman (a close second tho actually is something like his voice in Arkham Origins and the Hush movie! Idk their actors tho) and he played one of if not the most important Batman portrayals ever. To get NUANCED about this briefly, I do have issues with the DCAU’s later writing for Bruce, namely how everything about him seems to get so grimdark and edgy compared to his warmth and gentleness in B:TAS BUT how and ever SO. Kevin Conroy king forever 👑

Robert Pattinson in The Batman. You know I love me my Rpatz. I can absolutely understand why he might not be someone’s favourite, especially if they’re a fan of the classic depiction of Bruce, but what I really love about him (and this extends to Riddler too!) is that despite being different in some ways on the surface, all his traits ultimately come from the same core character and experience as depictions that feature more galas, swimwear models and ski trips in the Alps Brucie Waynes. He’s both a very grounded depiction of a deeply troubled man yet he toes the line between the “realism” of ‘verses like the Nolanverse and more camp superhero stuff so well and he has so much potential for his sequel, as well as of course giving us the chance to see him be a detective!! Finally!! To mention Robert himself then, he did such an amazing job playing Bruce. I love Robert Pattinson, I really do, I seek out movies with him in them, and still every time I see him in a movie, Rob completely melts away and it’s just… the character. There truly are few actors I can say that about, but I feel it so strongly for him, and his Batman portrayal was no different. (Also autidm bruce yuh). I also love his dynamic with Jim, Rob and Jeffrey are so good together.

Bruce in Batman: The Imposter. A non-actor one on here! Admittedly I don’t read as many comics as I’d like, but Batman: The Imposter was one I had to buy in May after seeing The Batman and having it recommended to me. For a lot of the same reasons I like The Batman 2022 Bruce, I like B:TI Bruce. I find with him that there’s such a… a softness to him. When he’s Bruce, there’s such a quietness, almost a meekness to him. He really reads as very pained but still somehow managing to find a kindness in his heart, even when he’s so isolated from the world. I also think it’s interesting — if slightly concerning — that Alfred is pretty much gone from Bruce’s life. A while after Bruce comes into Alfred’s care as a child, Alfred can’t handle him anymore, sends him off to boarding school, and dips from the Wayne family completely. Absolute worst Alfred I’ve ever seen, we do not stan. BUT my point is that, while I feel like there’s a chance the author wrote Bruce to be alone for the sake of cliche lone wolf edgelord, it just makes his shy nature outside of the Batman suit stand out to me more. Even so alone, he hasn’t lost hope. And. The page where he’s talking about his effect on Gotham, and he sheds a tear from under the cowl. Yeah. Yeah it got to me. Also! He’s the closest we have to a canonically autistic Bruce!

David Mazouz in Gotham. Okay. Okay. Gotham is not well-written, nor do I like the fact that Bruce plays a part in the show at all, I don’t like him being on a path to Batman from the moment his parents die. HOWEVER. I think David is a fantastic depiction of a young, struggling to grieve, anger-filled, doesn’t-want-to-feel-powerless Bruce. He’s a kid trying to understand himself and the world that’s been turned upside down on him, and David portrays a great balance of innocence and blooming maturity. Also, the older he gets, the more he looks like a perfect Bruce I swear to god. Even if I don’t like Bruce’s role in the show, I always thought David Mazouz was a great fit.

Bruce in The Batman 2004 cartoon. This one’s just fun. They don’t really touch on the darker aspects of him and they don’t mention his parents much at all (they don’t pretend they never died, but they’re very *very* vague and rare about their mentions of them) but I just think he’s really fun. He’s young and energetic but he’s not a party animal, and I think he’s interesting as a,, surprisingly stable Bruce. He also doesn’t have as much separation between Batman —> Bruce and Bruce —> Brucie as other depictions which I think is interesting! He feels very genuine and always like himself, but they’re also not afraid to show him being self-destructive or neglecting his needs for his work.

BONUS MENTION BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS: Ben Affleck in the DCEU. Okay okay OKAY I do not like the DCEU. I really don’t, and I think Bruce is grievously miswritten (???) in BvS. But. Ben deserved better. I can very easily see him as Bruce. I think he makes a very good older Bruce, AND he was great in the party scene in BvS where he meets Clark and they butt heads. Same as with Henry Cavill, they deserved to play better written versions of their characters.

Personality: Annabelle is a quiet, gentle, and compassionate individual. Her quiet nature is often mistaken for shyness. But she’s actually not shy at all (typically) and has no qualms about initiating interactions. She actually likes being in the company of other people quite a bit, but doesn’t have a large social battery for spending time with more than one person. (So breaks, especially in her line of work, are a must!) She has a pretty significant fear of having to heavily rely on others/not being able to do things by herself. She feels an intense need to prove she is capable on her own merits. She does experience generalized anxiety, and while it does cover certain social situations for her (particularly matters of romance and sex, and her lack of experience with the latter), it doesn’t encompass social situations in general.

Pre-Canon Backstory:

More of a pre-pre canon backstory. (Because her story with the Ghost of Tsushima characters starts prior to the canon events of the game.) This is also a lot more quick and dirty than the last OC post I did so apologies if its choppy and very bare bones.

Annabelle was born to Yuta Nishimura and his wife Susan in the 1990s. Originally, she spent much of her childhood/teens in the American midwest before her family moved to California around the time she was high school. She always had an interest in art, and her parents were very encouraging of her interests. They tried to be supportive of her needs as an autistic person, particularly as both her parents were autistic themselves. While she got along with her parents most of the time, they had a tendency to be a bit overprotective and even smothering at times, which heavily contributed to Annabelle’s desire for self-sufficiency and a need to prove herself.

During high school, Annabelle developed a close relationship with her paternal cousin, Kei. They were practically like siblings, and trusted each other almost completely. She also spend some time trying to get to know her paternal grandparents, but found herself standoffish with them. Still, she tried, and by the end of it found some kinship with her paternal grandmother, Rin.

Eventually, Annabelle returned to the midwest for college, attending college in the same town where her maternal grandmother and maternal uncles lived. She was close to all of them growing up, and it helped her transition into college life to have trusted relatives living in the same town.

She returned from school her sophomore year of college to visit her parents for the holidays. On the way to the airport in the wee hours of the morning to send her back to college at the end of the break, Annabelle and her parents ended up in a terrible car accident, where Annabelle was the only survivor.

Annabelle was devastated by the loss of her parents, to the point she dropped out of college for a couple of years (during which time she stayed with Kei, who had moved out to the midwest by that point after accepting a job at an art museum as an administrator - the same museum at which she would later come to have her current job).

Annabelle eventually returned to college and finished her studies, at which point she worked odd jobs here and there while living with her maternal grandmother and maternal uncles. After three years or so of this, she moved back in with her cousin Kei, and looked for work for a bit until Kei told her there was an opening at the museum they worked at for a tour guide.

She applied and was accepted, and to this day the museum is where she currently works.

Her story begins when the Museum is set to put on a special exhibit on ‘The Art and Folktales of Tsushima’ (an exhibit on, well, art and folktales from Tsushima, an island of the coast of mainland Japan that in the current day is part of Japan’s Nagasaki prefecture).

On the night before the exhibition is set to open to the general public, Annabelle attends a party with her cousin Kei that celebrates the opening of the exhibit. After passing by a display of a beautiful comb, she has a strange waking dream about a woman in traditional Japanese shrine maiden garb beckoning her towards a door that appears to open to somewhere underwater... a shinto temple submerged under the sea.

She’s snapped out of it by Kei, who gives her a worried look when she comes to.

Unfortunately when she goes to bed that night, she wakes up to find herself underwater again, this time with nothing in sight by light filtering from above. After floating for a bit, and seeing a brief vision of the shrine maiden, she suddenly has the awareness of holding her breath and frantically swims to the surface.

She reaches it in a state of panic and shock, looking around but everything’s a blur. She can hear voices however. Shouts and exclamations of alarm in Japanese. She feels hands attempting to pull her out of the water, and before she knows it, she’s pulled onto what appears to be a fishing boat. This, unbeknowst to her, is the start of her alternating between two different times and places - between her modern day life and Kamakura Era Tsushima, first arriving about fifteen months before the Mongols would set foot on Tsushima and attempt their invasion, kicking off the events of Ghost of Tsushima.

In that fifteen months, a lot would happen to her. She’d be taken in by a fisherman’s family and cause controversy among the the residence of a humble fishing village. A controversy to be settled by the local Jito, Lord Shimura, who decides to go about doing so by taking her into his household as a ‘guest’ until he can determine her trustworthiness. She is confined to his castle for a matter of several months, and appointed a ‘guardian’ of sorts to keep an eye on her and report back to the Jito on observations made about her, her characters, and whatever other information can be gleaned about her.

And who does Lord Shimura appoint to the position but his own nephew, Lord Jin Sakai, a dutiful, skilled, and scarily perceptive samurai who appears to give his uncle the highest reverence. But in spite of every reason to be wary of him, Annabelle finds herself disarmed and at ease in his presence. His gentle voice and forthright, high-minded nature draw her in, and she finds herself trusting him perhaps more easily than she should, given the circumstances.

But it seems he is equally drawn to her in kind, and the two of them develop a strong bond to one another. Little does she know how close the two of them will become, eventually falling into bed together and later bound to each other not as minder and charge, but as husband and wife.

And that’s all before the Khotun Khan shows up with his army to invade Tsushima.

All the while, Annabelle struggles to unravel the mystery of how her split reality came to be in the first place and the identity of the Shrine Maiden. She grapples with what the consequences of finding out might entail. She feels she must, that of course things must go back to the way they were. Right?

But she struggles with allowing her life in the past to unfold, and trying the minimize the heartache that will come eventually when she must cut herself off from it. But try as she might, she increasingly has much to leave behind when that days comes. Chiefly among them, a man she’s come to love madly, a man who slowly comes to be remade by the radically perspective redefining experiences thrust upon him.

And whose very much in love with her in kind and will be absolutely devastated to lose her.
