Minor HOFAS spoilers ig?
The Walmart bonus chapter just leaked and good lord some people need to be for real. I'm so tired of people picking and choosing evidence.
So you're telling me that *gasp* Azriel's shadows seem to dance when he hums?? they react to sound/music?? no way. people from all sides of the fandom have been saying that for years (and use it for different arguments), and looks like ppl are still tying anything they can to feed their ship--which is fine but at least make it somewhat accurate.
Tumblr media
The above is the last page of the Az/Bryce/Nesta chapter, and just as a refresher, this is the oh-so controversial phrases from the Az bonus chapter:
"(...) one of his shadows went out to dance with it (gwyn's breath) before twirling back to him. like it heard some silent music." and "(...) he could have sworn a faint, beautiful singing followed him. could have sworn his shadows sang in answer."
I'm confused, which is it? Was the shadow's reaction to her breath & the singing he heard all metaphorical, thereby hinting at a mating bond between gwyn & az (as in "music between souls")? Or was it rather azriel's shadows reacting to a literal sound coming from someone who has arguably been hinted at having some voice/song-related abilities? Because if it is the first, then this new HOFAS excerpt is completely unrelated. Well unless Azriel has a mating bond with himself? pleaseee make it make sense I beg. And if the second is true, it would mean that for someone to be able of making his shadows dance, they'd have to have similar powers as him... its just gonna fuel the lightsinger theories (which btw approx 5 ppl are saying means that gWyn is eViL) so this literally changes nothing. nada. absolument rien.
Oh also.
"He says no partner right now, aka NO FUCKING ELRIEL. ELRIEL IS DEAD." (no hate to whoever posted that btw)
Tumblr media
He literally rushes out that answer. Idk about you guys but to me the poor man still seems internally dead over the whole mate existential crisis, which as far as we know was left with him wondering "what if the cauldron was wrong". Sidenote but if I understood correctly, this all happens 2-3 months post acosf and Bryce spends ±5 days in Prythian, so it is very likely that it is all set during Acotar 5, and that the events of HOFAS in general are happening while Az is separated from the other MC (ie. the acotar5 FMC).
Regardless of all I just said, I am going to ask people once again to be for real. cause this whole chapter Azriel keeps glaring at Nes when she is about to reveal too much info, so WHY would he be mentioning Elain (or literally anyone he cares about) to someone who he is said to be highly suspicious of? make it make sense x2
Almost forgot. Last thing.
"Azriel said that Nesta killed the King! He didn't credit Elain!"
... no? for context, this is what Az said:
Tumblr media
See my second point above. He told Bryce exactly what Nes did, and nothing more: she beheaded Hybern. We could speculate about what his look at Truthteller made him think of... but tbh I'll leave it to someone else cause perso I dont really see the point.
I am getting tired guys... guess who finally understands what "fandom fatigue" is.
-----quick edit-----
I don't mean to sound hypocritical by tagging ships, cause tbh i dont even wanna put acotar ship tags to this, mais bon c'est la vie et j'en peux plus. this fandom is kind of a mess. Goodnight loves ♡

one of the things ive always found neat about c!dreams and c!wilburs dynamic is that c!wilbur is one of the few people on the server who view themselves as equal to dream in terms of strategy and schemes!
interesting!
it's funny to me ... because i think as far as c!dream being perceived as someone specifically like plotting in nature, that was definitely something that evolved over time? like, a lot of c!dream's early reputation was rooted in two things: 1) he's intimidating and 2) he's hard to kill. which meant that people would kind of see antagonizing c!dream as a challenge, in a way, c!tommy being the most obvious example but characters such as c!tubbo, c!fundy, and c!sapnap also getting involved in the action--in general, besting dream was a sort of achievement, so like you say there was a degree of hmm putting him on a pedestal almost. or making him the pedestal might be the more accurate description, where c!dream was The Guy To Beat, Mr. 1000 IQ etc
at the same time tho, dsmp characters are nothing if not full of hubris (LOL) and i don't think c!dream's hmmm strategic genius in character and plotting is something necessarily highlighted that much early on, or at least as something that people couldn't measure up to. lmanburg directly undercuts the intelligence of the "americans" quite often in its creation, as part of the whole Spiel was that americans are idiots and a large part of why the revolution panned out the way it did was because of a relative overestimation by lmanburg of their own combatic and strategic abilities against dream smp. i think the list of people who have estimated themselves as smarter than c!dream and have tried (and failed) to outsmart him is very high tbh, gestures at c!quackity LOL but also like...idk, c!dream's intelligence in terms of the ways people view it on the server always felt ... kinda variable to me? c!dream-as-schemer was more heavily emphasized as "c!dream is someone that only every pursues anything for selfish self-interest" imo
as for the c!wilbur of it all...c!wilbur is undeniably intelligent as a character. and he doesn't particularly underestimate c!dream much, i would say--especially post-revolution, he is very aware that c!dream is an enemy that he doesn't want to have. but at the same time, c!wilbur has a pattern of making somewhat mocking comments particularly about c!dream's intelligence (and when not mocking, sometimes a little...condescending? very much emphasizing the whole "ohhh he's 1000 IQ dream he's so much above all of us" and such) (god. dont remind me of the trivia competition) and also quite fucking easily talks circles around c!dream and does use this to his benefit. then again, i wouldn't say c!wilbur is as strategically minded as c!dream, necessarily--his strengths tend to lie elsewhere. something similar can be said about his "scheming"--even the most successful of his arguable schemes, lmanburg, snowballs quite quickly into something beyond his original intentions and then kind of consumes him.
this is a whole lot of words for a whole lot of nothing, but ig my point is when talking abt characters and intelligence, there's a lot you can say in 1) pinpointing specific areas of intelligence 2) assessing their prowess in each individual area and 3) looking at their ability to assess their own skill in this area as well as the skill of others. in general, i would say that characters on the dream smp tend to underestimate c!dream's strategic skill (or else more people would probably be questioning the whole, staged finale of it all) and their assessment of his scheming tends to be pretty dependent on how much they can use said assessments on his schemes as a vehicle to blame him, lmao (gestures at the mexican lmanburg debates). so from this perspective id say that there are quite a few characters that do think themselves as quote-unquote "smarter" than c!dream and able to out-strategize, out-scheme him (whether or not they're actually capable of this fact) and that if we're talking abt specifically c!dreambur, id say that a post specifically on their perspectives of each other would be MUCH MUCH MUCH longer and much more complicated, on a whole c!wilbur does seem pretty cognizant of the fact that their strengths intellectually lie in different areas and utilizes this in interactions that involve the two. if this makes sense

“Game Sonic doesn’t have it in him to kill Eggman.” -Someone on IG comparing Movie Sonic to Game Sonic per something written in StH 2′s script. Have... have you played or even seen the Sonic games? Especially those prior to Forces and Frontiers?
Okay, maybe that’s somewhat unwarranted. Still.
He doesn’t prioritize killing Eggman the way Shadow occasionally or Omega (always) do, but he’s not exactly opposed to seeing, ah, spilled yolk on any sort of principle, either. Eggman just doesn’t occupy anymore space in Sonic’s mind than he warrants at any given moment; the doctor might be obsessed with crushing this teenager who keeps humiliating him, but the reverse?
Sonic at one point says, when asked in Sonic X where Eggman is on a day he’s not actively destroying things or hurting people:
“I don’t care.”
Newer iterations of the blue blur confuse it a bit–starting around Lost World, I believe–but let’s go down the Games timeline; explore the evolution of Sonic’s general attitude toward killing and by extension, cracking the egg.
Classic Sonic is a younger, less powerful and perhaps more unhinged hedgehog. Like I said in another post, Sonic’s first priority is doing what’s Cool; stomping Eggman’s machines and rescuing his animal friends have fit his personal definition of cool from day one.
Every time Sonic and Eggman clash, Sonic stops attacking once Eggman does; that is, once his contraption of the week gets thrashed. Eggman’s smart enough to flee by that point, and while Sonic would keep fighting if the doctor attacked him again, striking an enemy in the back while they’re running away doesn’t fit his definition of Cool.
Sonic doesn’t go out of his way to kill an enemy who isn’t actively trying to kill him, but neither does he go out of his way to save Eggman from falls that could easily end his life. (Refer to: The conclusion of most fights between Robotnik and Super Sonic pre-Dreamcast era)
A trend that carries through at least Sonic Unleashed; if Sonic had a truly immovable stance against killing Eggman, he wouldn’t just stand by and watch his contraptions fall to pieces around him until the doctor spirals in just a pod or console seat at terminal velocity per Sonic 06. I wouldn’t be surprised if Eggman keeps Heal Units on hand for personal use when cartoon physics aren’t enough to prevent grievous injury.
I predict this is going to get longer than I expected; have a cut.
And Eggman knows this. After so many years as arch-enemies, how could he not recognize the pattern? Factor it into his schemes and calculations, his fail safes, however much he loathes the idea of losing again?
There are two Mobians in the franchise who consistently hold back and put a check on themselves out of consideration for others. Two Mobians who, should either snap, are capable several times over of wreaking untold havoc across the planet and ending the doctor’s career in evil permanently.
Knuckles, and Sonic.
This echidna is strong enough to trigger a fault line that can sever an entire zone off of Angel Island with a single blow; who, coupled with his familiarity with chaos energy and channeling the merest fraction of the M.E., can sucker punch someone out of their Super state. Destined Child’s self-control of his strength is a more significant act of kindness than just about anything else he could do.
And Sonic’s maximum speed, in his normal state, cannot be accurately measured even by Eggman’s machines. Oh, he can work out medians and means for the hedgehog’s typical velocity, enough that his robots can put up a decent fight and track/predict the blue blur’s movements.
But Sonic pulls stunts that should not be possible even in the fantastic world of Mobius on the daily; he’s fast enough that he can and has joked about light speed being casual for him, and at one point in his career he outran a black hole for upwards of half a minute. Again, without the aid of his Super state.
Sonic’s reasons for holding back coincide with Knuckles’ somewhat, but they don’t match one to one. A) He holds back for others’ sake and safety: pulling a friend along when he pours on a speed boost, pacing himself when he’s carrying someone (often, though not limited to, princesses...) and, one can infer, limiting himself to just fast enough to break the sound barrier most of the time so he doesn’t constantly destroy/reshape the terrain he’s running on. Sonic’s a rebel, and he enjoys breaking stuff, but only when he’s making a point through the stuff he’s breaking. Aimless destruction isn’t quite his wheelhouse.
And B) he holds back for the sake of having more fun. There are a lot of reasons Sonic’s persisted as a character for three decades now, and one of them, setting him apart from a lot of other ‘cool’ stoic characters I could name, is that Having Fun falls under his definition of Cool.
This is the only way Sonic’s approach to things in the Riders games, his rivalry with Jet in particular, makes any kind of sense; he chooses to race using Extreme Gear because the sport, the banter, the push toward the finish line alongside his best friends are fun, he enjoys all those things. If beating Jet or proving that he’s faster was truly the highest priority for him, he’d ditch the board and just break a half dozen laws of physics on foot like he always does.
Like I mentioned, Eggman’s aware of that; of the fact that Destined Child and Some Guy are, 99% of the time, exercising self-restraint. And factors it into his schemes. He doesn’t quite fear Knuckles snapping as much, since there are years of evidence proving that taking advantage of the echidna’s naivete isn’t enough to make him lose it, and because he understands that Knuckles sees himself as a Guardian on and off of Angel Island. Born to protect; only harming in service to that role, and certainly not to kill.
Compared to Knuckles, Sonic’s conditions for losing it, for going berserk are much more apparent; namely excessive, grievous harm to his friends. In particular, his best friend Tails.
There’s a reason why Eggman ejected Sonic from the ARK in a time bomb space pod in SA2 before facing off with the fox, and it wasn’t simply because he was outnumbered. He was holding Amy hostage with Tails in the room well before Sonic arrived. He could have demanded Tails exit the Cyclone and killed the fox. He didn’t need two hostages.
But he knew better than to think he could predict how Sonic would react to seeing his sidekick (in Eggman’s mind) motionless on the floor of the ARK. Worse case scenario, four bodies end up careening in free fall towards the Earth’s atmosphere.
Eggman knows Sonic has it in him to kill; are other Mobians more likely to try killing him? Yes, but the possibility still figures into Eggman’s plans and is one of the reasons the blue hedgehog occupies most of the doctor’s attention, second to his obsession with returning all the humiliation Sonic’s visited on him over the years.
All that being said, there is a moment in Sonic’s career that marks the beginning of a shift in his attitude toward killing.
Emerl.
Gemerl’s predecessor and the focal point/main character of Sonic Battle, for the uninformed.
Sonic found this battered robot, abandoned by Eggman in a fit of impatience and frustration; this machine designed to be the ultimate combat weapon, capable of observing and evolving based on those it interacts with like a whole-ass person would. In the penultimate chapter of the game, Emerl acquires the seventh chaos emerald and achieves a perilous state where the right words might make or break the world, and Shadow picks the right ones that allow Emerl to function autonomously without posing a danger to the planet.
Obviously, in the ultimate chapter, Eggman has to come and fuck that up.
With Emerl out of control and beyond the reach of words or reason and only minutes between him and the planet’s destruction, Sonic has no choice but to destroy–to kill–this robot he practically raised like a child of his own to save the world.
Sonic doesn’t hesitate in doing so, though it’s clear he doesn’t want to. And of course, it affects him.
It’s that moment that begins to change his attitude from “I don’t kill in cold blood/don’t kill anyone with their back to me or running away” to “I don’t kill if I can help it.”
Make no mistake, though: Sonic wouldn’t shed a single tear for Eggman’s funeral. At most, he’d consider life marginally more boring without an arch nemesis and then get over it.
Sonic is capable of cracking the egg; he prefers avoiding it, but under the right circumstances, avoiding it falls way down his list of priorities.
To this day in the games, Eggman doesn’t go after the hedgehog’s friends in earnest until he believes the blue blur has been dealt with first.
That is very, very intentional on his part.

I can't stop, I won't stop (when will I stop): more quick-hit meta on Moonlight Chicken, the final ep and the whole series (here's part 1 and part 2 of my meta on the MC finale -- I'm numbering from my last meta):
15) This took me out.
Tumblr media
Aof honoring the mothers of the series.
Obviously the translation is off, but the last sentence made me wonder. So many of us here on Tumblr have been viewing Jim through the lens of a parent -- the kind of elder that brings community and family together, and makes family out of groups that aren't necessarily related. Besides my LOVING that Aof honored the women of the series -- he reveals himself that this community-, family-, and strength-building was part of what he was going for in this series. So amazing. It made my heart swell when I saw this.
16) This is going to sound redundant with all the amazing meta on Jim's community-building out there. But @wen-kexing-apologist's AMAZING AMAZING post from last night on building queer communities made me realize something, and I apologize if this was repeated elsewhere.
We remember when Alan drops by the food truck, ostensibly to meet Gaipa to discuss the documents. Wen is at first wary, until Alan explains himself. Jim comes out of the truck, wary, until Alan explains himself. And then Jim invites Alan to eat.
I just realized this, after reading WKA's post. I wonder if part of what drove Jim to invite Alan to eat is this inherent knowledge that building a queer community in Pattaya is likely DIFFICULT for many reasons, including the size of Pattaya's queer population, and that Alan may feel more alone than any of us realize...except for people like Jim, who have been alone for so much of their own lives.
So I'm wondering if that was a part of Jim's motivation to welcome Alan into the fold. Alan was clearly a part of the entire group, the second-to-last scene, the macro group of amazing people sitting down all together to eat Jim's food, as he brings people together every night. Jim welcomed Alan into *his* community, *his* family, surely vis à vis Gaipa, but also through Alan's own identity.
17) And tying this back into the previous point about mothers. (Can Aof be any more brilliant?) I love that he pointed out the mothers in his IG post. But, BUT: mothers are stereotyped, right? Stereotyped as nurturing, as welcoming people into our bosoms or whatever. (Although, GEEZ, this current crop of Thai BL moms are like, blowing that shit out of the fuckin' water. I'm looking at you, Uea-from-Bed-Friend's-mom, you out of control punkass POS.)
Why can't an elder like Jim also be nurturing? Jim defies the stereotype of a nurturing mother simply by being portrayed as a male.* But he's certainly parenting through his actions. Li Ming affirmed that multiple times during the final episode. And I think we see that, too, in the second-to-last scene with the food truck. If the last sentence of that IG post is translated at least somewhat correctly, is Aof saying that all the MC characters had stereotypically "motherly" characteristics? If so, then GO AOF, and I'm certainly relying on Aof to help change that paradigm in his further work.
[And it should be changed, because as a mom, I'm always pained by the bad-mom paradigms and stereotypes that often dog dramas that I otherwise love (see, again, Bed Friend). The bad-mom paradigm otherwise "works" in shows BECAUSE our inherent assumption is that all mothers should be loving and invested -- and leveraging an unfair DUALITY to single out "bad moms" is, I think, inherently sexist. But that's another post for another time.]
(*Queer individuals in Thailand can adopt children. But as we all know, queer marriage is not legal in Thailand, and queer couples cannot adopt children -- only individuals. So, Jim and Wen together could not adopt children -- only each of them as individuals can. Jim being portrayed as a "solo" or "single" parent, in the case of MC, is accurate, but likely not one that's prevalent in dramas.)

A thing about binding…
So, as we all know, there’s a lot of reasons someone may not be able to bind with an actual binder. These include:
Financial reasons
Health issues
Inaccessibility due to lack of support from family
Hostility towards trans people in their area
Simply feeling uncomfortable in a binder due to chest size, body type, or any other factors
Or a multitude of other things
I’ve been binding for about 2-2.5 years now (I can’t remember exactly). Unfortunately, financial struggles make it seem like top surgery is a thing of the distant future, so I’ll probably be doing this for some time. I am also a plus-sized dude with a very large chest—approximately 38D, but I don’t wear bras so I don’t know my size exactly—which causes some issues. Being large-chested is already known to cause back pain BEFORE adding binding to the mix. And, with the size of my chest, I feel uncomfortable/unsafe being out in public without binding due to the fact that I pass in most other ways, as I live in a rather conservative state and typically try to avoid being flagged as trans by strangers.
As a result of these factors, I’ve been doing some experimenting with alternatives to binding. Now, again, being large-cheated really starts to limit options. Things like tucking are already considered dangerous, and they tend to be impractical with larger breasts.
So, I’ve been looking in to alternatives. The first thing I did some research on was the TomboyX compression bra that recently spiked in popularity after being sold at Target for a time. While these look like a promising and well made produce, they still run at about $40 (before taxes and shipping), making them comparable to the price of a binder. And, though the reviews on them seem very good, I wasn’t personally wanting to spend that amount of money on what appeared to be a glorified sports bra (I mean no offense by this, it’s just personal opinion).
And so, being the Broke Bitch™️ I am, I went to Walmart. There, I found this:
Tumblr media
Looking at it, it seemed pretty promising. If nothing else, it would be a good alternative for when I needed break days or would be working out, so I bought it for a whopping $14.99 (after tax). Immediately when I went home, I tried it on and took comparison photos between that and my binder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the GC2B half-tank binder in an XL compared to the sports bra in the photo above from two different angles. Obviously, the shape is quite different, but the sports bra is surprisingly comfortable and adds a very decent amount of compression. Next, I put on a t-shirt and retook the photos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, this is binder on the top, sports bra on the bottom. Still, there is a slight difference in shape and size, but it’s generally not that noticeable. Granted, I do wear almost exclusively baggy t-shirts, so I’m sure that helps. Next, I took the same photos with my go to Trans Guy Baggy Hoodie:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, there's a bit to unpack here. First of all, it's worth noting I immediately removed the pads from the bra. Even so, the shaping issue is still somewhat of an issue. Luckily(?) for me, with my body type, it would be believable for me to have a bit of Man Titty. For someone thin and large-chested, this may not be the case. On the other hand, for anyone relatively small chested, bra like this one would probably be (at least somewhat) effective.
To make things simple, here are the things I liked about the...
Binder
Is made especially made for trans men, therefore eliminating some of the dysphoria associated with wearing a bra (for me, at least)
Shapes the chest so that breast tissue more closely resembles "pecs"
Slightly flatter chest look
Is more comfortable to wear in public on its own (ie. for swimming shirtless)
Sports Bra
Thinner straps and lighter fabric can reduce sweat and therefore acne
More breathable/less compression on the lungs
Less risk for the health issues associated with binding (ig)
Might make my body personally look more proportionately accurate (idk if looking like I have massive pecs or slightly saggy man titties is better lol)
End game, I feel this experiment has left me with more questions than answers. Honestly, during the winter months when I have to layer up anyway, I may wear the sports bra to give my body a break, but I get the feeling I will be back to binding normally before long.
If anyone else has any information on this, please feel free to share your insight with me. Or, if any plus sized people have tried the TomboyX compression top or any other brands of binders that may be worth trying, let me know how you felt about it! Maybe I'm wrong and it would be worth the money lol.
Also, a friendly reminder that binding is by no means required for any chest size to be nonbinary, transmasc, transgender, etc. or any combination thereof, and that everything I reported here is based on my personal experience alone.
Note: Any comments on my weight or misgendering and I will start hunting you for sport :)

Wow that's very interesting, thanks for all that info! If i recall correctly in Season 1 there was an earlier episode where the class was doing a swimming lesson at school, was that also slightly changed for the anime since Kiyotaka wasn't covered up there either?
As far as I'm aware I don't think he exposed skin in Season 2 so at least that should be accurate to the novels. Curious what Season 3 will bring.
You want to know what’s incredibly ironic? I continued reading volume 8 right after I sent you my answer to your earlier question, and of COURSE Kinugasa decides to throw in a whole bathhouse scene with all the boys. And it’s a RIOT. I swear, if Season 3 does not include it, I’ll be so unbelievably disappointed.
[Bear in mind, somewhat-spoilerish content up ahead.] So to answer your question, yes, Kiyotaka is confirmed to appear shirtless at some point in the canon story. 😂 I spoke too soon with my earlier response. But expect a classic pissing contest courtesy of testosterone-fueled teenage boys, and because it is a bathhouse moment, Kiyotaka couldn’t get out of being shirtless, I guess.
Unfortunately, I don’t really recall the swimming lesson in the earlier episode in Season 1… it’s been a while since I watched it! From what I can glean from the light novel though, Kiyotaka is avoidant of having his skin showing whenever possible, so I wouldn’t be surprised if, in canon-verse, he’d try to have clothes on whenever he can get away with it. I’ll have to rewatch Season 1 and reread the earlier volumes to determine if they match up. (Anime is the perfect conduit for more explicit fan service, so I get the shirtlessness aspect ig, but so much important context from the light novels is missing from the anime, so I’d much prefer the former to the latter!)

This totally off topic to mostly everything else that I talk about, but can I just say that I generally don't know how I feel about the 'Sonic.exe/X' character mostly because of obvious boring repetition, lack of actual moral or reason to the plots, and sooort of maybe because of the twisted junk some of its multiple handed-down owners have done; but I am absououtly in love with EXIT CAVE ZONE/Hill.gym so much I literally need to describe how this song and its variations affect the narrative so well
(So you know what I'm talking about pre-ramble, here's the song/s. Feel free to make a choice. The original is somewhat lacking because it's the first and generally before this character got close to being interesting to me; but OTM is my personal favorite. There's also a remix that I like, but it gets a little getting used to compared to the other chorus')
youtube
(the original. Not as emotion-evoking as the OMT, but I still like it)
youtube
youtube
It begins to unnerving; still sounding like a Sonic game but as if some kind of deranged monster was pounding on a piano again and again to the point of breaking bones or skin. It first gives off the feeling of something approaching; slow but guaranteed to eventually catch up no matter what pace you choose. It's not completely antagonizing, however, as a synthesized violin and the chorus come in almost as a display of pity to the victim. There's really nothing that can be done at this point, the voice of the chorus doesn't seem to make that it's goal. It's sympathetic, as if this morally grey onlooker to this tragedy is giving a prayer to the damned. In a way, it's sort of the last relief the player can find (at least compared to the constantly negative 'sonic is god and will eat everybody-ooga-booga' narrative given so far).
But the beat starting off so slow is nothing but wrong. Out of place with everything so far- It's based around a franchise constantly themed with speed. The fastest thing alive has literally turned against you in the worst way imaginable- But your approach to this terrible given fate is a slow and sympathetic pace, as if there was some kind of game to it. As if it was waiting behind; watching as its prey fleas and struggles to its last ability to pick up as much hope as possible- just waiting to see how desperate for hope a person can get. It's just a slow lead and reveal to an inevitable death.
And with each different rendition- is it really enough to call it a death? It's a loop-an unintentional cycle of misery and pain. Death itself doesn't promise the end of the misery-soon enough or later the same slow pace and feeling will come up once more; proving once again to be useless.
Yeah. Sort of silly observation ig. I just think it's kinda weird that it's pretty much the only original song from the first version of this game (That I'm aware of-remember that I'm just babbling but I'm pretty sure). And also gives crumbs of another expectation or feeling towards the story other than 'OOOOOOOOooo Sonic the Hedgehog is gonna getcha OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!'
Tumblr media
OMT is doing okay though. It still is making itself a hopeless story, but there's at least a little bit of a plotline and twist to it.
Like I said; I like some of this creepypasta's concepts, I just don't vibe with the whole thing. The idea of making a game character's strongest quality their friend's worst nightmare is generally genius and I think that's what some non-sonic copies miss out on (ex: say if you just did the same thing but with Crash Bandicoot it wouldn't make much sense-because speed isn't something he's known for or can be seen as a scary twist to his character).
I personally like to associate the song with the overall thought of an old game playing the player in general, as it literally kills that theme. And I love seeing accurate and interesting twists to older games.

jaf characters as drawn by me vs ai generated with artflow vs ai generated by artbreeder
the obvious drawback for comparison here is that i usually draw them more stylized than realistic and while i do have realistic busts for Most of them somewhere its mostly uncolored pencil drawings from high school so i went with the more recent headshots for uniformness
so which ai did a better job for each character!
gee v: im gonna say artflow since the colors are better and she looks Softer but neither rly look much like gee since ai art is allergic to young fat ppl
amarante v: artbreeder 100%. aside from the hairstyling artbreeder’s face here is actually pretty accurate. but also the artflow one is so incredibly off its barely a competition
vin v: artbreeder as well. the face is like spot on to how i imagine them looking. its like a casting photo to me. artflow has the Color down better but im owed $300 for them yassifying my blorbo
dax g: artbreeder but both are pretty off. artflow jst could not make a latino man without making him Aged. dax is twenty. artbreeder’s at least looks like a person but they dont rly read as dax to me much
lane l: artbreeder ig but these both suck. again ai art is allergic to fat ppl. at least artbreeder’s looks Chubby but he does not look like lane
ruth l: artflow. artbreeder at least Approached the fact that ruth is fat but artflow did give her her proper butch punk slay
randy b: artbreeder’s is probably more accurate but points to artflow for the slay again. both are slightly off in opposite ways bfkgn
zoey c: artbreeder 100%. i hate how badly artflow struggles w poc. artbreeder’s looks Close but i could not get her dreads to appear. her face is p close but i imagine her nose would be wider and her lips a little fuller
all in all both ais are incredibly frustrating to use bc of their unpredictability and especially as someone who can do realism at least somewhat. artflow’s is a very vague behind-the-curtain process, and artbreeder’s sliders are so impenetrable. what the fuck is -100% hat. the clothes sliders dont even add glasses or hats or makeup and the only sliders for features are gender, age, and race which is so unuseful like. why not jst have sliders for features on their own (skin color, nose width, jaw width, wrinkles, hair length, etc) that can be much more useful than jst an ai’s approximation of fucking racial sliders. like the problems here are fairly obvious from an ethical standpoint but also from a usability standpoint. either or.

Okay this might sound crazy but I have been meaning to show this and discuss this with someone since 2019
But back then Social Media was not known to me and YouTube comments were the only place where I could have discussed about idaten jump (that too backfired since ppl mocked me for paying attention too much to the story) but today is the day ig lol
Since this platform actually has active fans!!
Did you guys notice that episode 43 and 44 had a HUGE difference at introducing Takeshi to us? And the two situations have few parts in common but scenarios and character behaviors entirely different?
Like look at the episode 43 scenario
(Credits to Me and my pal because it took me and her (who chose to remain anonymous too) the entire day to translate the whole thing T-T
But rest assured, this is the most accurate translation you will ever get since I referenced and checked via 4 translators and 3 language's dubbing dialogues {including a raw audio translation for the original Japanese version with a friend who is a native to Japan and can speak and write the language fluently} with the main languages which dubbed {for Indonesia's case, subbed} the whole series properly and systematically. Those languages are:
Japanese, Indonesian and Hindi.)
(Quick note: Apologies for the typo in Ayumu's name in the image. It is written "Aymu" when it should have been "Ayumu". I must have overlooked that typo while editing. Sorry again)

And now let's look at Episode 44's scenario (Again, full credits to me and my friend who chose to remain anonymous for the whole translation and editing)
《ZOOM IN FOR CLEARER LOOK》
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see the whole scenarios are different.
In episode 43, Takeshi suddenly shows up (point to be noted, STANDING) and Sho almost hypnotically walk towards him and eventually bursts into cheers of joy as he realizes that the man standing in front of him, is really his dad.
The other characters seem to be fixated at the bike Sho's dad has on his side rather than their friend walking towards his long lost but now found father pretty hypnotically. (They are all shocked ik but still the least they could do is to stop Sho from getting too close, like cmon kyoichi knows Takeshi is the master mind but still doesn't say anything here possibly due to shock but wtv)
Anyway, as Sho rushes forward to him to (possibly hug) his dad, he gets kicked/Knocked away *hard* and immediately challenged to an Idaten Battle.
Pretty dark and somewhat out of character for the others but oh well but its episode 44 where the trouble begins.
In this episode, we start off with Takeshi just showing up while standing for the first 2 seconds (during recap part of the last episode's events) but as this episode starts, he seems to be SITTING on his bike placidly.
Sho again calls him his dad and this time the characters ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO HIS WORDS (thank the lords) instead of staring at the bike (which they did do later but let's get into that later) .
Ayumu's reaction is pretty much the same in both the cases but Arthur, Gabu and Koei's responses are changed drastically here.
Gabu is shocked but doesn't say anything about the bike (unlike the last episode) while Koei asks if Sho really said if that guy is his dad. (Unlike last episode where he along with Arthur were focused on the bike rather than what their friend was muttering).
Arthur threw his comment about the bike being Imperial X much later and only when Kakeru asks if it could be the legendary bike. In this episode, Sho doesn't climb the mountain hypotically but does call out for his dad.
Unlike the last episode where Kyoichi was completely absent in the final moments of the big Takeshi reveal, here he actually warns Sho about how dangerous of a state his father is in rn and could possibly be harmful to him.
Unlike the last episode, Takeshi actually does converse with Sho formally for a bit instead of being straight up abusive and getting to the point.
In my opinion, episode 43's ending grabbed a mixed reaction from me since it was dark, kinda out of character writing for a lot of core characters but made me super excited on how they will work with this and what will happen after that.
Episode 44 seems to re-do/revamp/refresh the last episode's ending instead of continuing from where they left off, which is kinda weird since Idaten Jump never did that with any of the other episodes in the entire series.
As a plot, I think episode 44 did a much better job at the reveal. It was well paced, in character for every character on screen and exciting.
So what do you guys think?
Did the writers of the show became too impatient and wrote episode 43's ending in haste? Or did they originally think it was a good idea and later thought it was not very good for an episode stand point and the writing could be done at a better pace in the next one? Or did they have to end 43 quickly since they were running out of their schedule time? Or did the writers forget about episode 43's ending and just remade it in 44? Or is it a classic case of continuity error? In this case, at the near end of the series?
@idaten-jump @idatenjumpfanatic @yep-ishouldbesleeping do tell me your thoughts! (Since no one on the platform who is a fan of the show seems to be active currently. So thought of mention you guys! Sorry for the ping though)

1, 10, 17? :))
(sorry this got a bit long skdjs)
1 Are you self diagnosed, medically recognized, or professionally diagnosed?
medically recognized. i don’t think we can get an actual medical diagnosis until we’re older(?), but we’ve been medically recognized by multiple psychiatrists/therapists/etc. and we’ve only been in stable therapy for ..er idk but it hasn’t been that long, so we’ve only been able to talk about diagnoses and such freely somewhat recent (past few years). also uhh as much as i hyperfixate on certain disorders i try not to think a ton about getting tons of recognition/diagnoses because, for the most part, i try to just take whatever comes with having DID in stride (and my brains crashing i’ve been talking too long eek)
10 How many fully formed alters do you have? How many fragments?
um 200+ at least? and fragments…jeez there’s a lot i’m not sure i could give an accurate number..ksjd
17 Do different alters have different allergies?
uh not that i know of! some definitely have very different food tastes and preferences and some alters like other food and some just absolutely can’t eat it but i don’t think any of us have different allergies (ofc there’s kinda allergies we all have, ig just out of those some of us experience it worse)

What kind of movies do you guys like???
I'm legit curious about that. I bet that Donnie loves the sci-fi deep space ones
Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu, obviously.
Space movies are fine if they’re at least somewhat accurate. I also enjoy anything shark related- drama or documentary style, though I prefer facts over random people screaming their heads off every twelve seconds. -Don
Animated movies and animal movies! Animated animal movies are an automatic 20/10!! -Mikey
I mostly just watch what my bros watch, but my watch history is mostly dreamworks/Pixar so.. I cry a lot during movies… -Raph
DINOSAURS. And like,,, dcoms ig… 😒 jk ilysm lemonade mouth my one true love 🫶🫶🫶 -Leo

3. SO if you compare this to their sixth world priorities, it's kind of neat! ehran is way more superficially "functional," in that he's not dressed up like a clown, but he's very much trying rebuild that ideal of sereatha into the tir - it's somewhat more liberal than the blood wood, in that there's "occasional voting," but it's still kind of a "everywhere else can fend for itself, i'm going to set up my Perfect Town and protect it."
And even they have had to concede more than they'd like, especially in more 'recent' times. Superficially functional... projecting the aura of elven superiority, an enclave for those who remember the end times and those who will come to know them, yet there are some obvious cracks if you know where to look or are privy to Council politics. Ehrans clearly not without his issues either even if they're a little less obvious (or, more accurately, self-destructive). I think there's a case to be made, for example, that giving up Jane (among other reasons) can be seen in part as a reflection of what I perceive as Ehrans greater personal stability (or at least attempts at) and values. I should really read more background in this particular area but from what I recall he's not particularly opposed to the arrangement and doesn't *want* Jane to grow up (or mature/learn, ig? Isn't she an adult at this point?) with some big important father and all these responsibilities and history and decorum hanging over her. Say what you want about whether you agree, but it's an understandable position. Harley might not be the most... stable... individual but he's not stupid, and he absolutely has comparable experience and so could teach her the same things. (There might be some people who would see the daughter of a Council member as an issue, also... or at the least seek to control/influence her to get to Ehran. At least he knows where Harlequin stands, presumably, and that he's not interested in mind-game long-form immortal politicking (at least at the time)). Anyways all that to say deeply intriguing contrast between an active attempt to rebuild a lost world in the modern age (which some may, mostly correctly imo, see as futile/misguided) for the chosen few vs mourning its loss and (if haphazardly) seeking salvation for the many, even if its costly.

as a journalist myself: that absolutely shouldn't have happened to you. it is literally our job to be good at compiling and conveying accurate information. absolutely seems at least somewhat malicious--but that malice could have come from the journo's editor, the publication, etc. too. i hope the response you get is satisfactory, if that's even possible. again, just so sorry that happened to you.
Thank youuu 😭 he's such a good journalist and literally has some of the most thorough researching I've seen done on certain events, so I'm just kind of at a loss. he called me up today to tell me that he wrote the article with the wrong pronouns and had it published, only remembering when i emailed him afterwards that i'd asked for "special accommodations" on my pronouns. and then he misgendered me like three times while telling me about his discussion with the editor to get it fixed. then he apologized for the "slip up" and thanked me for talking with him. so.
yeah. not satisfactory at all but at least i know what happened, i guess. thank you, i really appreciate you saying that, it's been more than a little shitty. i really thought bc he's worked on trans issues before that at LEAST he'd get my pronouns in the article right? but. apparently not ig. 🫤
