Please please please please tell me about "Actually, Not Knowing the Ending is Scarier"!
Saw this coming. Hi Measly!
Through means I shan't disclose here, Maria is. . . well, not cured, but treated to the extent that her disease is no longer terminal; or at least only marginally more likely to kill her than anything else.
Also, she and Shadow escape that other business.
Most of the fics I end up actually writing are written in reaction to a question that tickles my brain. A friendship between Knuckles and Shadow would lead to cool conversations: How do? What if Sonic remembered the Freedom Fighters and he was the only one who did?
The main question for this fic is: How would Maria respond if she got to live?
She's been on the ARK for as long as she can remember. Masking her frustration with the unfairness of her illness—playing, if not the angel of Gerald's rose-tinted memory, the good granddaughter. Managed to find a sort of morbid solace, or at least closure, with the fact that she probably wouldn't live to see 20; that she could be certain of how she'd die, if not quite the when.
Then, all of a sudden, that certainty vanishes. Her future is as vague and open as anyone else's.
How complicated must that feeling be, especially for someone as intelligent as a Robotnik? Does she mourn, does she celebrate? Stall out, overwhelmed?
I've also got a whole post with questions about Maria, her character and what she'd be like if she lived that I'll explore through this fic.
But then, you know about that one—you're responsible for prompting my brain into spawning this concept in the first place.
Thanks for enabling my specific strain of madness, Measly.

In any instance of disagreement the crew can't easily resolve, Gemerl typically votes with Knuckles while Metal tends to side with Shadow. This leaves Omega to be tiebreaker.
He handles such situations exactly as you'd expect.

people say folks with adhd struggle with "delayed rewards" aka long term goals and as such we tend to focus more on short term rewards. what they don't talk about is that at when we Do accomplish long term goals we don't actually feel anything proportionate to the amount of work we did to achieve it. In my head I suffered for a while and then money spontaneously appeared in my bank account.

To answer your question: Yes, definitely, I have every intention of continuing Coward's Redemption. I'm juggling a few things at the moment, several of them stories, and one of them is giving myself a buffer of fully drafted chapters I can post at regular intervals.
I can't quote a timeline at the moment for when it'll happen, but when I post chapter 32 that will mean that I've drafted chapters out through Jaya, if not the start of Skypeia.
